Finding myself in the cultural epicenter of Sangamon County, and overwhelmed by the plethora of greasy spooned chili parlors, I was in need of something Fresh. Like Will Smith drinking a mint julep fresh. The laughing of sirens behind the counter echoed through the streets of the northern cuisinal district of Spoho. Curiosity beckoned. After three attempts, it was a push on the door, not a pull as the front door handle mocked my impasse that allowed me into the cafe breezeway. I approached the menus and decided on the turkey avacado salad to quench my parading pallate. The dame at arms length placed my order and after offering my food for free on account of my disheveled appearance, I insisted I pay. After deconstructing my coin pouch, reciept in hand, I sat in the Herman Miller Eames Lounge chairs(or so they felt) to await my meal. And there she was, at the back of the cafe, the most beautiful woman ive ever laid my eyes on. Reddish brunette hair, and a face that not even the world's finest renaissance era portraiteurs would not have even attempted to recreate, for their gods have spoken. Beauty has been perfected. For, every man that has had the pleasure of seeing her, has walked away with a story of "the one that got away." Surely a fairytale yet be written, no writer's conscious has ventured as deep as necessary to write the love story her existence deserves. I trembled at the notional scenario that would lead her to look in my direction, no man's heart could stay chest entombed from the imminent heart pounding awaiting her attention. Death awaited, but for my sake, she remained entranced by her computer screen. I can only assume her stare was locked into her own reflection, unable to look away. To her right, probably her body guard, who has sworn an oath to protect her from the swooning of entrepreneurs of love. Man bun secured, he stood to do his hourly rounds, iphone sheathed, he investigated what I assume was the smell of my perspiration wafing through the back hall. I remained calm, prepared for a declaration of love to be followed by a fight the essence of Excaliber couldnt fathom. The front door opened, and as the room pressure changed, he swiftly appeared at his post to ward off encroachment of any "Bros" lacking the personal insight to not recognize their unworthiness of her inherent, intoxicating beauty. My salad had been prepared. I stood slowly to not disturb the goddess and her guardsman, and grabbed my pre-bagged "flame" salad. After ensuring a knife and fork had been provided with my meal, I left. The salad was really good. I would ask for more bread that came with it though. Definitely, definitely "flame" stuff.

This is one of the few places that was open in downtown Springfield. It was pretty popular because of that. You order at the counter, but they have six tables for outside seating and a few tables inside. No bottomless cup, they do bring your food to you, but you have to take your dishes inside. Some people had breakfast, which boasted a full breakfast menu, and danishes.

Andiamo is a very nice little place in Springfield. The food is good and priced well and the ambiance is very nice and cosy. This is also one of the few places to get a decent breakfast on the weekend outside of a hotel!

Stopped in for breakfast while in town on a business trip. Decent omelets (not burned!) - that's the biggest positive. Meh latte - too milky, couldn't taste much coffee. Service just as everybody says: one server was nice, the other pointedly ignored a polite request made three times as she stood behind the counter, stuffing her face with grapes. Wi-fi worked well. Would I go back? Probably not. If a cafe can't make good coffee, what's the point?

Good concept but the service sux. This place takes way too long to get breakfast orders out. They almost made me late for class - I wound up leaving before getting my order and had to go back after class to get my refund of course. I tried them out again months later, ordered the 'turkey and avocado salad'. What I want to know is, who the hell serves a dish with brown avocados?!?!? WTF? Really? You have a restaurant and you have no clue as to how to keep your avocados from turning brown. Idiot Springfielders. Get a freakin clue.

I love this place. It's the best place downtown for breakfast. The pizzas at lunch are also good. In the summer the cafe has live music that is pumped on the street so you can have a cocktail and listen to music in their outside patio.

gelato was pretty good. marguerita pizza wasn't that good but the crust was nice. It was thin and crunchy along the edge.

My fiance and I were staying at a hotel a few blocks away and stumbled upon Andiamo while looking for a breakfast spot this past Sunday morning. Walking in the ambiance is very cute. I love little coffee bars, and everyone was happy, friendly and the smells were good. We ordered our food at the counter, I grabbed my cup of coffee, and we took a seat outside. They had several varieties of coffee to choose from and I tried the breakfast blend which was delicious. I ordered the southwest omelet, and my fiance ordered the andiamo omelet. We figured we would swap halves since we were having a hard time deciding. When our food was brought to us I was a little worried. It looked like they made the eggs, put them on the plate, spooned the filling over the egg, and then folded the egg back over the top. We reluctantly dug in, and I was pleasantly surprised. My omelet had good flavor. My fiance on the other hand wasn't very impressed saying it lacked flavor. I thought he was being dramatic until we swapped our halves. His omelet lacked flavor, and the egg was overcooked. It was a disappointing way to end our last meal in Springfield. I'm giving three stars because my coffee was good, as well as one of the omelets. If I ever went back I would probably try something other than an omelet.

This is my regular Friday afternoon hangout spot. There is nothing better than sitting outside drinking a mimosa with the wife and listening to live music. Wonderful staff, great vibe.

The coffee is standard. Sandwiches and baked good are decent. The pizzas are great (when they aren't burnt). Customer service is usually fine (everyone who works there is so nice!). But the sandwiches are a little overpriced and service can be slow sometimes. Still, I have a soft spot for the place because it's warm and cozy in there.

Unbelievably slow - with less than half the tables occupied. Breakfast pancakes dry and without much taste. Everyone was nice, but that wasn't enough to warrant a return visit.

Terrible customer service. We were standing infront of the counter and being totally ignored for almost 10 minutes. Did i mention the place had only one more customer behind me...... Ok lets talk about the breakfast.... I think the waiter forgot our order.... after waiting 30 minutes, I went to the counter to inquire about my omelet..(yes, i ordered an omelet 30 minutes ago... dont know if the chef was waiting for the chicken to hatch an egg before he could cook it).... I was told to repeat my order as there was some mixup.... and there was absolutely no apology..... after 10 minutes i got my omelet on a plate without any silver or bread.... I had to pay $1.50 for two slices of white bread...oh and my omelet was $7... so i actually paid $8.50 for two slices of bread and one mushroom omelet... Now the final test... the taste.... Honestly, I am a reasonable person... if the food is good, i tend to forget the rest.... for a 7 dollar omelet, i expected it to be iron chef material... it turned out to be rubbery and bland... i had to put sauce to flavor it up.... i was so disappointed.... and to add to my misery, flies were all over the place... cant you do something about the flies....I kept on wondering if the kitchen had flies too since it was an open kitchen connected to the dinning area... I am not even going to give it a second chance....

The options are fairly fresh and good for just a simple sandwich. The decor is cute and rummish sale pieces. I think our team would go more if the place had more options, but for once, I feel this is a place in Springfield, aside from Starbucks, were I wouldn't feel totally awkward coming in by myself with a book and just ordering coffee. Vegan warning - No Soy for your coffee! But, can get a decent veggie sandwich.

The coffe is only good but the mochas and expressos are very good. The prices are average. I especially enjoy that they are open on Sundays. Downtown can be barren Sunday mornings and it is good to have a place to go. I really enjoy the serving staff and the Sunday services. I have never heard a complaint about their food. It is of the variety that I call California style.

Very nice atmosphere...very friendly staff. The prices are very reasonable given the downtown location. If you are looking for a nice cup of joe or latte or mocha..along with some very good food..this is your place.

My group really liked this place. The service was cheerful and helpful. We asked what the favorite salad and sandwich was on the menu and the counter help was enthusiastic about her suggestion so we ordered the turkey, avocado salad and the veggie sandwich on wheat. They even saw us eyeing the watermelon smoothie so without us asking the brought samples to our table. All the food was great including the fresh smoothie and coffee,

Cafe Andiamo was INCREDIBLE. First off, the place was so hip which is a huge plus since it's right in the heart of Springfield which, as we all know is not the cultural epicenter of America. Secondly, the food was AWESOME. I got a BBQ chicken salad and some antipasto and both were so flame it sent me into shock for a moment followed by a cascade of pure bliss. 9/10 dentists would recommend again.

Ambience is quaint. We came on Memorial Day and, although they didn't close until 11am, they did not have their outdoor seating available. Bummer. The entrance over to the side was open, but not the front entrance. I suppose they were trying to deter patronage. That's tacky. My partner and I got coffees. I got the buttercream and he got the house blend decaf. Both were Folgers-grade coffee. Not impressive at all. The interior is nice and the outdoor seating would be enough to draw me in, had they provided that option. Overall, an u impressionable experience.

The places smells great! They have a few places to sit outside. You order at the counter and they gave you a number. Food takes a while but they have three workers and it was a Sunday at 9am. If I ever visit Springfield again I will come back for their lunch or dinner. I wanted to try a pizza!

Here for Lincoln's memorial. Didn't want hotel b fast. Got the strata. Big enough for two and very tasty. Good selection of coffee. All around you won't go wrong.

Charming spot for soup/sandwich/salad. I'm in Springfield frequently and there's nowhere to get a nice, simple, fresh meal downtown. I had the turkey avocado salad and it was delicious! They had a variety of coffees and teas also. I'm so happy to have found the cafe and will be back.

Enjoyed sitting outside. Herbivore omelet, scrambled eggs and bacon, and vanilla yogurts with raspberries and granola were very good. Service is not real fast, but we were not in a hurry...so it was okay. We chatted with a very interesting man who grew up in Tuscany.

Have been going there for more than 2 yrs for my coffee and occassional Breakfast Sandwich. Always have been greeted by friendly employees and Great hot food (Helps during the winter). Cafe Andiamo is a gathering location for all sorts of friendly people especially during the warm weather.

I recently had their breakfast and it was delicious! I was staying at the Doubletree Hilton downtown and was looking for a nice breakfast that wasn't too far away and just happened upon on Andiamos. The Decore was nice, but the people were friendly, and the most important part, the food was very good. I got the Southwest omelette for my wife and a breakfast sandwich for myself. I think they forgot the salsa on the omelette but it was still delicious!!!! Give it a try, you will most likely enjoy it!!!

This is about the only place open in Springfield on a Sunday. We enjoyed the sandwiches well enough. Service was kind of slow, but friendly. The menu is mostly Italian, but they offer Paleo-friendly options, lots of coffees, some baked goods like muffins and scones. The building and decore are interesting, including twisty-turny passagesways on the way to the restroom.

I traveled to Springfield for work and decided to try this place out since it was close to the hotel where I was staying, and a friend of mine told me the food was good. I tried this place twice and I was underwhelmed both times. The first time I ordered the salmon salad - the salmon was overcooked (and I am assuming a frozen product), they gave me a jarred balsamic vinaigrette, and some old tomatoes. Foolishly I went back a second time thinking maybe I got them on a bad day. The second time I ordered the bbq chicken salad which was terrible. The chicken strips were clearly from a freezer, drizzled with some overly sweet (probably bottled) bbq sauce, and topped with a TON of mozzarella cheese which I ended up scrapping off. Just terrible.

Springfield is a scary place if you like food and good coffee. Why, you ask? Because what lurks around every corner is a soup and sandwich shop! Where's the food diversity for cryin' out loud? I was so happy to find this place down the block from my hotel. I had coffee there every day and breakfast on Sunday. It's a bright spot in a sad food and coffee town. I have to mention that I didn't have a car with me on this trip so I couldn't go very far for food. Also, I don't do dairy and they had, yes!, soy milk for my coffee. They even had Paleo options on the menu. Wow!

Probably the most delightful coffee house I've ever enjoyed. Excellent homemade coffee treats, awesome variety of foods, homemade soups, salads. Free wireless. Very very good pricing. Highly recommend.

This is my favorite place in Springfield to hang out. This place has a very artsy and cool vibe and attracts the kind of inquisitive young minds which I miss so much from places I've lived in days gone by. It's in the touristy zone of downtown, so it attracts locals and tourists alike. The menu isn't terribly extensive but what they have is done right. The front page of their menu is based on the "paleo" diet which also means the options are gluten-free as well, which is nice considering there aren't many options in Springfield which advertise gluten-free menu options. The "meatza" is my favorite menu item- essentially pizza without the crust. I love that they offer such tasty, lighter options. I also adore their for real deal espresso machine. The marshmallow mocha is to die for- nothing like a melted s'more in a cup. Delicious. Worthy of noting, they have gelato and baked goods here which look delicious, none of which I have tried. So 2 reasons for giving this place only 4 stars: 1) The hours. Closes at 4 pm every night? This place has such potential to be a cool evening hangout for an acoustic show or even a local art show. 2) This is the big one- customer service! The management here is great, but the actual employees that run the counter leave room to be desired. I've actually walked up while 3 of them are standing there, discussing how to properly apply liquid eyeliner, and they blatantly ignored me for a solid 2 minutes before acknowledging I was even there. If you're going to be the neighborhood friendly coffee shop and keep the locals coming back, you've got to amp up the charm. Starbucks is right down the street, you know? Overall, great place besides my belly achin. I'll continue to come back regularly.

Good food. Nice ambiance. They deliver your food to your table after you order at the counter, but they never refilled our drinks. It was't very busy at a friday lunch hour. I'd try once more.

I was pleasantly surprised that they speak "vegan" and had a really nice lunch. They were friendly, the place was clean, and I enjoyed my meal, the veggie panini without the pesto (they volunteered that it had dairy) and added hummus and avocado. I will go back.

I wanted so badly to like this place. Someone got me a latte here before and I echo the other reviews when I say 'meh'. Came in to get a latte and some lunch myself and left without ordering anything after looking at how dirty the steam wands were. They had so much dried milk on them they really looked like they'd never been cleaned. I am not a snob and understand that some places have off-days so came in again and took one look at the steam wands which were encrusted with even more dried milk. I skipped the coffee and went with food - a salad and sandwich. My order was not correct and the food was seriously just so-so and expensive, too. Disappointing.

The place is very inviting. the decor and ambiance is wonderful. It has such an ecclectic flavor going on in this shop. Live music was a nice surprise for a late lunch. The food was simple and plain. Decent enough pizza and veggie sandwich. The coffee on the other hand was very week and very boring. Would go back for the surroundings but would hope the bad coffee is just a fluke.

    (3)
  • Andrew W.

Ambiance was excellent, and there was live music. All fantastic in my book. That being said the food was par and the coffee was not even. I had a capp that had extremely weak espresso. Could barely taste it. Gotta have outstanding coffee to bring me back to a coffee shop!

Came in to order lunch for 5 people and the staff could not have been more accommodating! I was told that calling ahead would be best next time, which was fine by me and good information! As this was my first time there, I went with a suggestion from my sister and got the blackened salmon salad and it was awesome!! They have a meals marked that follow the Paleo diet and that was very helpful to me! Would totally like to stay and dine next time! Great spot downtown, great atmosphere, and great staff! I would highly recommend it if you find yourself in downtown Springfield!

Loved it here so much, we made 2 visits in one weekend! They have breakfast, lunch, dinner AND sell alcohol, I'm in love. The food is all super fresh and delicious, and for the most part, healthy. I love the vibe inside with mismatched seating and cool artwork on the walls. There is another room next to the main room with the drink bar that has music but it was nice to sit on the quieter side, still hear the music but be able to talk. I will be back here the next time I am in town for sure!

    (5)
  • Ashley E.

I've come here twice, visits several months apart, and now that I'm a official Springfieldian, I will be coming much more often. Great espresso drinks, reasonably priced and cool 'sky' ceiling.

This Place is great! Clean, comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff, and the espresso & food are delicious. I have never had anything less than a very pleasant experience here. ****also**** A second round of applause for them!! for supporting the community and local artists & artisans by hosting fee social evening events featuring a variety of live music, art, photography, and handcrafts.

We stopped in on a Sunday around noon and regret spending almost $25 on two lattes, a blueberry muffin, two eggs with dry toast, and a half soup and sandwich combo. The staff is friendly with each other, but neglects the customers. The lattes were mediocre at best while the muffin was moist but bland. The eggs and toast were flavorless. And how can a restaurant with soup be out of crackers?!? The bread on the chicken salad sandwich was dry and stale while the lettuce was spoiled. If you do go to Andiamo, do not sit at a table near the open kitchen area: the staff eats chips out of the serving container and does other things that would make chef Gordon Ramsay have a hissy fit.

Standard coffee-house fare. I'd walk a half-block south to the Trout Lilly Cafe, which has a much more diverse menu.
