I have eaten at Rubys for 20 years they are very good at what they do, if you eat in they bring you chips and salsa which is very good I have had everything on their menu the Carne asada la tomiqiena is delicious very tender steak with quac, lettuce, onions and peppers with of course a enchilada the tacos are very good especially the chille relenos and of course on the weekends they have the best menudo in the evening hours jesse works he is so nice, and during the day tiny the owner is there he always makes everyone feel like family because his family works there so you like them, try their soups they are so good in the cold months or be sure to get the guacamole and chips you will not be disappointed, I highly recommend this place

Very racist restaurant. You can tell by their body language, when you come into the restaurant the employees, and the manager begin talking in their native language. Sometimes they laugh while looking at you. The food service is very quick though, and you don't have to wait a long time for your food, but I'll pass on their food, because they might poison black people. I suggest that you go to the doctor and get tested after eating their food if your black.

Their customer service was great but I wasn't a fan of their chicken, it was something like tinga in a burrito. Definitely coming back soon to try some steak.

Was sorry to see that this place did not meet up to it's hype. I had heard a lot of good things about it, and read some of the other Yelp reviews. I ordered the Super burrito as that's my go to in a Mexican restaurant and was happy with it until I took the first bite. I had a mouthful of gristle and fat. While a little gristle is to be expected, this piece was a good inch and half long and I can't imagine it being overlooked during the preparation. I wrote it off as a bad bite and continued with the meal. Half way through the burrito, I had hit three more, albeit smaller, chunks of gristle. I didn't finish the rest. After that experience, I won't be back. If I had to post anything positive, they were quick. I put a photo up of the gristle if anyone's interested.

I used to come here all the time until I discovered a place accross town that is cheaper and better. The staff is friendly here, and I like the barbacoa burrito. Their pork is not bad either. So why 3 stars? Well.....the food is just "ok" especially compared to many authentic Mexican places out there. My Barbacoa addiction is my own guilty pleasure not a reflection of quality. The steak is aweful! It is ground up over cooked dog food! Another problem is the food is ready TOO fast, most authentic Mexican places take time, this is almost Mcdonalds fast and the taste reflects that. Just not fresh. Still I like the pork and the Barbacoa but I would not recommend it to others.

Sometimes there food is good, and sometimes there food is not good at all. Since the quality of food differs each day I don't buy anything anymore from ruby's.

I normally go to their Minooka location, but had to run an errand nearby. Got a Cubana torta (not offered at their other location) and a chicken chimichanga to go. Absolutely loved the torta has it was packed with ham, chorizo, breaded steak, eggs, and hot dog, not bad for $7 for the diversity in meats and getting 2 meals out of it. The chimichanga was also large in size, very filling, and had a lot of chicken in it.

This maybe a small restaurant, but it is big on quality. Great tasting food. Super fast service and an extremely nice staff that makes you want to go back again and again. I've been a regular since the day it opened.

Fast, good and cheap... exactly how I like my Mexican food! I imagine this spot is a bit of a hidden treasure in Romeoville. First time in this suburb, so I can't say for sure, but it's slightly off the beaten path away from the action. I ordered the Al Pastor burrito. Usually I shy away from getting al pastor unless I've had a prior dalliance with said Mexican joint, but I got a good look at what was coming out and everything looked kosher. So, I went for it! And I'm happy I did. The meat was tender and well-spiced, and the tortilla was fresh and grilled so it's extra flaky (just the way I like it). Did I mention the burrito is massive? A quarter of the way into it, I knew I'd only be able to finish half. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll certainly stop by! And in the interim, I'll simply have to settle for reminiscing.

Been coming here for years and consistently food is good and fast. Staff is friendly and always happy to see you. Horchata (hopefully spelling is correct) is better than any other local restaurant.

If you are going to precook meat for the lunch rush at least keep it warm in some juice. The steak is just dry and nasty. It's been like this for years.

I agree, best mexican food in Will County

The bus boy poured the leftover salsa from peoples tables back in to the big batch of salsa. I saw it with my own eyes.

This is my favorite mexican joint. A little restaurant tucked into the old side of romeoville. You can order burritos the size of your head, or just order the fine dinners that they have there. They also serve breakfast there and have a dining room next door. I usually go for the burritos, so I can't comment on the pancakes and eggs there. Once you go there a few times you get to know the staff there. This place has a very homey feeling to it. It is still going strong even with all the new mexican places opening up. Keep it up!

Horchata..... I LOVE this drink. And any place that is calling itself mexican MUST have it - and this one does! The burritos are HUGE, and the prices are Tiny. It's a must stop if you're in the area!

It's attached to "Ruby Pancake House," so I imagine that's where they use all their leftover tortillas. But seriously, in all honesty, I must say there are fewer more repulsive places you can eat. I suppose maybe a dumpster. Or the armpit of a camel. Avoid.

I've been coming here regularly ever since they opened many years ago. You get a lot of food for the money. The food is just a little bit short of being great, but I still prefer it over any other burrito joint in the area. The barbacoa and chili rellenos are probably the best thing on the menu. They always give you plenty of peppers and carrots. I've eaten here hundreds of times, and the food is always very good. They definitely do not skimp on the ingredients. If you want a burrito, they give you a real burrito. The manager is one of the friendliest managers I've ever met in a restaurant, and he remembers everyone's faces.

The nachos, burritos, tacos, and tostadas are all the best I've ever had. I love their steak because it's dry and doesn't leak grease through the tortilla, but is still tender and flavorful. The prices are very good for the amount and quality of the food. If I had one complaint it would be that their burritos are sometimes not mixed very well, meaning one bite will be all cheese or beans and nothing else. It's not enough to drop down a star though.

I don't know what happened to my last review... but the was the absolute worst burrito place I have ever been too. The meat tasted bad, the sauce was like a pasty hot ketchup, and I actually couldn't finish my food because of how bad it was. When I started working in Romeoville, no one wanted to go with me to this place....because they all got sick from the burrito a few weeks before.

Definitely the best burrito I've found in the area. I haven't tried the other menu items because the burrito is hard to pass up.

While this place is good I must say that my hunt continues on. We had an al Pastor Burrito, American Nachos w/beef, and horchata. The food was good and what was expected for one of those hidden gem hole in the walls dives. The salsa left a little to be desired but was ok. The meat was well prepared and had great flavor. The rice was bland but the beans had good flavor. While horchata is not typically on my list of must have drinks theirs was very good (and you get free refills). My 2 year old tried everything that we ordered and was a big fan of the rice and horchata. The waiter was great and the dining room was very clean. In my book it really helps to see ethnic clientele eating at ethnic restaurants. This is definitely one of those establishments where that appears to be the norm. The service was really awesome and the food was 10 times better than Taco Bell but just as quick. The fam and I will be returning when we are back in the area.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
