Aodake is simply amazing. My friend and I started going here weekly to fulfill our sushi cravings about a year ago and now we don't go anywhere else. The staff has always been friendly and attentive, whether we are using a groupon, coming in for the lunch special, or paying full price. The sushi is decently priced and tastes amazing, I've never had any issues with freshness or quality. After trying many other sub-par sushi restaurants in the area Aodake is a breath of fresh air!

This is a average place for sushi. The rolls have gotten smaller since the last time I went. They do have excellent lunch specials at really good prices. They also have happy hour from 12 to 4 on Saturday and Sunday for more decent prices! I only go during those times to save money. I say give it a try, but it probably won't knock your socks off!

Love this place! Went to the Darien location a couple of times and then became a regular at the Romeoville location. My kids love to eat here! Whenever I ask if they want to go out to dinner, this is their FAVE! They actually prefer this place over Red Robin. Sushi is always fresh. Hibachi grill is always fun.

This is my favorite restaurant EVER! For it to be in my hometown is just more of a plus. My food is always cooked PERFECT & the staff has always been awesome. It is always very clean and has a comfortable atmosphere. The always have some kind of special going on that keeps the price reasonable. I've gone other hibachi grills and none have ever compared to Aodake.

I absolutely love this place, i've been several times and have always been pleased. It's really hard to find a nice Sushi place in the suburbs but this place surprisingly is as good or better than some of the places in the city. The hibachi show was great! I'm planning on taking the kids to see it this week. You must visit, you will not be disappointed. pss..the Margarita's are soooooooo good:

Standard hibachi show - spinning egg, flipping food at your mouth, smoking onion train. When that's all done there is nothing special here. They ask you how you like your steak and cook it in one big pile until it's well done. Over cooked steak is what everyone got Service was snail slow, but what I was told is that is quite unusual. Sushi is probably a better play at this spot.

Good stuff. Went for sushi on a Friday during Lent. Got there around 6ish and were seated right away. Sat on the sushi bar side of the restaurant and weren't able to smell the hibachi area - definitely a good thing. Ordered several maki rolls. The Godzilla is awesome. So good that we ordered another after we finished the first. The Larry Lobster was good, but it took forever to be made. Don't know if they had to cook the lobster first or if they forgot about it, but we waited forever for this roll to come out. It is a tasty roll, but it is so large that you can't get the pieces into your mouth. The Sakura roll was really good also. It is covered in a "baked spicy cream sauce." The sauce reminded me a bit of melted Velveeta. It was a strange sensation to have the warm sauce on top of the cold roll. Not bad mind you, just strange. The spicy tuna roll was perfectly average. The asparagus roll was good. Ordered a chicken tempura for the little guy. It looked good and smelled good, but, alas, couldn't sample it. Price was good, about $90 with tip and we got a coupon for a free appetizer or roll on our next visit. Service was good, but the waitress was a bit soft spoken which is a problem for my loud rock abused ears. Will definitely be back. Hope to try the hibachi area next time.

Love this place. We come for the happy hour and at that time the food is cheap but it is still great! I highly recommend thus place. For a family of 7 they are really friendly and accomodating.

I've been able to dine at Aodake as many times as I've ordered and carried out from their restaurant. Now, when I first began ordering from Aodake, it was always for carry-out. I was never impressed by it. The moment I actually DINED in Aodake, my view had changed! I'm not sure why it was.. or if the business had changed. Dining in, their sushi portions are so large! Usually, when I go to a sushi restaurant, often times I would order a few to a handful of rolls. However, just after one roll at Aodake I am filled to the brim! Some of my favorites include: The Larry Lobster.. Yummy. The avocado with the fired lobster meat makes this roll melt in your mouth. The Red Dragon (spicy tuna) is delicious and gigantic. The Cactus roll which is composed of eel, cucumbers, lettuce and jalapeno is really refreshing. I still think that Sushi Train (which is right further down Weber Rd.) has the FRESHEST fish in town. However, their service has slowly declined. I'm not sure if it's because it's always so packed or if they seem short staffed, but Aodake has really won me over. Their service is much more prompt than Sushi Train's service. The last few times I've been to Aodake, they've given a customer appreciation coupon which I've appreciated. The coupon allows you to order a roll or an appetizer on your next visit for your next meal that is $15+. I think that's one of the reasons why I keep returning.

I was quite enthused to hear that Aodake was coming to Romeoville. I thought it was about time we had someplace nice to go to. I was sadly disappointed. We ordered two of their deluxe party platters (to go) and when I got there when I was told it would be ready, would you guess it? They weren't ready. I waited an additional 15-20 min because we ordered one (1) extra roll. (Spider Maki)* It wasn't even busy when I got there. There were like 3 tables, they were greatly outnumbered by the number of waiters and if I do recall there were at least 3 sushi chefs at the bar I'm sure there were more lurking in the back. * = we actually called in the extra Spider Maki a few minutes after placing the initial order of 2 deluxe party platters.. so really the 15-20 mins was/is inexcusable. The space itself is ok. The only thing that really stuck out like a sore thumb was the fact that none of the waitstaff spoke Japanese with one another. Instead they were all speaking Chinese. The only reason this raises concern for me is that i was expecting a good Japanese meal. While I'm aware that they wouldn't exclusively hire Japanese employees I would expect to hear more Japanese over Chinese. This also leads me to assume that the sushi makers may not be Japanese either because my rolls were poorly rolled. On top of that, there was too much reliance on mayo based sauces, masking the taste of the fish that was intended to grace my palatte. The sashimi I had was cut much thicker than I am used to. Again, reinforcing the idea that maybe they aren't that qualified. I don't think I'll be eating here anytime soon. Plus everything was pricier than it should be. Can't really expect much from the burbs. The only places within the general vicinity that has something slightly reminiscent of what you'd expect from let's say pacific coast sushi can be found in Naperville. But even they can't compare. Otherwise invest on an excursion to the city. There are definitely places that are far more worth it.

Wow, very surprised at this hidden gem of a restaurant in Romeoville. This was much better than Zaidi at half the price. Special rolls were great....Godzilla role, Chicago roll both very good. Tuna, Salmon, Yellowfin, Red Snapper all very fresh, and very generous portions. The prices here are very, very reasonable - we really over ordered and the bill was much less than we expected. Good selections of wine and liquor. Two concerns...our waitress had a bit of a language barrier, but the service was very good; the high pitched yelling coming from the Habachi side of the restaurant was a bit annoying......but the food was so good it made up for it. Only a 15 minute drive from Plainfield, this place will be on our short list from now on.

Being in the farther suburbs this is a great find for some fresh sushi.. or Hibachi if you prefer. I was originally turned off by friends' negative reviews of the Darien location on 75th St, but have to say this place is completely the opposite of that. The sushi here is great every time, and I have been here many times. I usually get the Special Sushi Box and have had numerous rolls as well as Hibachi dishes. Also the prices are very reasonable and the staff is very friendly... I usually have hot tea and I have never waited for a refill. Everything about this place keeps me coming back again and again.

Ever have one of those nights you end up driving around for a few hours because nobody can decide what to eat? After a tour-de-Naperville-Bolingbrook, we found ourselves in the heart of Romeoville at 9:30 on a Friday night. Starving. So we stopped in here, and overall, had a nice, but not particularly memorable experience. The restaurant has one area for hibachi tables and a second area of the restaurant with individual tables. An open bar connects the two (yeah!). My bf ordered the steak/chicken combo from the hibachi, and I ordered sushi: the spicy tuna and soft shell crab rolls, as well as some individual pieces. The hibachi combo was quite tasty, with the most tasty component being the ginger sauce served on the side. The sushi was decent - I appreciate the three sushi chefs behind the counter, and the rolls were presented well. However, the pieces were huge, creating the perfect sushi storm. How do you eat sushi that's bigger than one bite? (not easily, or lady-like). There was a piece of lettuce in my spicy tuna wrap, that was kind of different. Would I go back to Aodake? Yes, definitely. Is it my favorite sushi place? Nah, not my favorite sushi, but I"d be happy to try some of the more unique rolls. Our waitress was a sweetheart, the bartender was a hottie, and the most memorable component here was the drink that I ordered, a Grass Skirt. Super sweet, fruity, and boozy, it was served with an umbrella skewered with an orange slice and cherry.

Having heard some good reviews of this place from friends, we decided to purchase the Groupon for this place and boy are we glad that we did! We made reservations for our group of 4 for a Friday a few days in advance and were promptly seated when all of our party arrived. Our hibachi chef, Chris, was amazing! He was very skilled and entertaining. We loved the sake that he poured in our mouths and our hostess (who we also think was the manager) was very helpful in recommending comparable/better sakes that can be purchased at Asian grocery stores. Our favorites from the sushis that we ordered were the Godzilla and Crunchy. In terms of the habachi, the salmon and calamari are musts! We only wish this place were closer to us!

I absolutely love this place! Only because its not in the city and it still has great food. Def go to the Romeoville location and not in Darien, because that one is horrible! But this one always has great sushi (love the Perfect California), the staff is pretty friendly, and they always give you coupons for something to return with. Pretty much always get the hibachi shrimp, my boyfriend gets the hibachi steak and we share. Its a great meal, with food to go home with too! The soup and salad are both great (come with basically everything!) and one of the guy waiter's is a riot! haha.

On an off the whim trip for lunch turned into a sushi feast.... I was in the suburbs staying with my family when we couldn't decide on what we wanted to eat.... mexican? or sushi?.... we were driving down weber road and saw this restaurant behind an applebees.... luckily we choose to go to Aodake, it was happy hour and it was only 3pm, to access the happy hour menu all you had to do was buy a beverage... I say that's fair! The drinks also come with unlimited refills which was an added plus. I only really looked at the sushi menu and all the rolls were priced at $3.50 to $5.50. The larger rolls were the higher price naturally, I was a bit anxious to see how the sushi would turn out, I ordered the spicy scallop roll and the eel and cucumber roll, while my boyfriend ordered the dragon roll and spicy tuna..... The service was okay... not amazing but the sushi was.... YUMMY The spicy scallop did not disappoint, when taking my first bite, the infusion of spice, heat, and scallop mixed together perfectly... I was won over by this roll alone. Another roll I tasted that I wished I ordered was the chicken tempura roll, I know I know what did you say .... Chicken tempura roll!?!? That's crazy....... Yeah... Crazy DELICIOUS! If you happen to be in romeoville or any of the surrounding areas.... I say give this place a try!

I did not think I liked sushi until I tried Aodake. Wowie wow wow. I only had the cooked rolls (not a big fan of squishy raw fish), and they were amazing! The textures were interesting, the flavors were fresh and light, and the sauces were creamy and delicious! I've been craving it ever since we went there. I highly recommend the Sakura, Godzilla, Volcano and Pink Lady specialty rolls.

F$&@ these guys... Been there a couple times and the food is good but there attitudes suck and they are selective with providing good service. There was one occasion where they straight up wouldn't give us a the happy hour lunch special, one hour before it had ended. We drove like 30 min to go there for just that as well. We left.... Go there, eat their food, enjoy the specials... But f$&@ them! Good day.

Compared to other hibachi places I've been too in the past, their food tastes better, they give you larger portions and it definitely doesn't cost nearly as much as others. Talented staff too.

The food is pretty good! We haven't done the "hibachi" experience but I will next time. The place is a little basic looking, and (table)service was just ok. They do have a pretty good deal going now...Mon-Thurs 2 for $35 dinners. I did, however, love their rolls...dynamite and crunchy...I think. The entree(hibachi style N.Y. strip) was good but came out a little cold. I will give it another shot to check out the hibachi and get more rolls.

Food is good. We have had issues in the past with their service. Once we where seated and ignored for 30 minutes before walking out and going to sushi train down the road. Today we waited over an hour for three rolls and after we told the waitress that we had to leave and no longer wanted our rolls unless they cane out in the next 5 min, she brought them to us in a takeout bag 15 min later and gave us the bill. Then she took another 10 min before taking my credit card from the table. The food there is not worth the crappy service. I suggest you go to sushi train down the street on Weber.

Went there to celebrate my daughter's birthday last Saturday night at 5:30. There was another family waiting to be seated. Several people came up to seat them, but then they would say, "just a minute", and then they never came back. The phone rang, then a woman came to pick it up, she then took a carry out order while the two parties, 8 people in total, just stared at her while she took the order. A waitress walked in, then the person on the phone, covered mouthpiece and said to the waitress, "I hate you right now". All right in front of the 8 of us. Wow! What a start to what I though was going to be a pleasant evening. Finally, a person came to seat the other group of 3 while we waited some more. It took 12 minutes to get seated in a room that had only one other table seated. We sat in the room overlooking the sushi bar and a waitress brought some food back to the middle sushi chef who was not pleased at all. He grumbled at the waitress, started complaint and making rude faces at her. This staff has a really bad attitude. It seems like it is a part f their culture. The food is fabulous that is why this got 3 stars. I know the owner and she is so nice...to bad her staff isn't. They ruin the experience.

This place is fab! I work in Romeoville and was very pleasantly surprised when I first ordered sushi for lunch from Aodake. I am a bit of a sushi snob, and don't like to think it can be good out of the city limits.... but Aodake has proved me wrong! I have yet to return for dinner but have eaten lunch there at least 5 times and everytime is good (consistency is key!). Really good spicey tuna... And, I have only eaten sushi meals but others I work with have had the hibatchi and say it's amazing!

This place ROCKS! If you are traveling to the western burbs and need to fulfill your aching Sushi/Sashmi hunger, this is your SPOT. You can't go wrong w/ their super versatile environments and service. Got all the "perfect" roles that your mouth desires. Gotta say OK! To Aodake!!! =P

Purchased a groupon and decided to meet friends there for dinner. Upon arrival there are large signs on the door saying "please present groupon before being seated" We were greeted with a friendly smile and were whisked away to an awaiting table. At this time we presented the groupon to the hostess and the smile quickly disippated from her face. We were then brought back to the front entry and told to wait. We waited and waited until another couple...with groupon in hand, were all seated together. We handed over our groupons and were told we could only use one of them. We explained we didnt even know the other couple and if they werent going to accept all 3 groupons I would give mine to the next couple that walked in the door. They didnt like this At ALL!! Much chatter later we finally received our drinks 45 minutes later. The chef finally arrived and with 3 taps on the table and an egg in the pocket .....the presentation quickly ended. He forgot to make rice for all 6 of us and continued to ruin a beautiful lobster tail and steak. I was so happy I ordered the shrimp. This was an unacceptable dining experience and if they continue to train new chefs on people with groupons, they simply wont last. Save yourself a trip to Aodake and head on over to Kiku in Naperville for a truly fabulous meal.

We love this place and eat there about once per month. While the sushi is not world-class, it is very good and fresh, offering .lots of variety. Personal fave is red dragon, which is huge. Wait staff is very friendly and accomodating. I have never had the service problems mentioned by a few others. One thing which is odd is that the waittresses do not know the Japanese names of the fish. When I asked fo hamachi, I basically got a blank stare. Come on- learn the names of at least the basics- toro, maguro, sake, hamachi, ebi...... One thing very nice about the place is that you can order from the hibachi menu on the sushi side. Having a kid that will not eat sushi, this comes in very handy. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of sushi provided, and they generally have numerous coupons available. Hamachi is also a good value, with the chefs putting on a better than normal show.

What a great place!! After seeing this place a few times I decided to check the reviews and give it a try. I am so glad we did. The food was very good and not expensive. I personally love smaller sushi bars but this place is very nice. The sushi is a good portion and not too expensive compared to other places. I always get the philadelphia and some of their special rolls. I love their squid salad, its nice and spicy but not so much so you can't enjoy it. Their service can be slow even when it's not busy but the servers are sweethearts.

I visited here at some point over the winter months. I was really looking forward to some good Maki, but I was let down. They had a really interesting menu, but I didn't enjoy any of it. The rolls were all very loosely wrapped, so they were next to impossible to pick up. Also, they covered EVERYTHING in heavy mayo sauces, to the point that they were soaked....not my thing at all. I wouldn't go back here for the sushi.

I love this place. I go here for lunch from time to time and usually order their sushi lunch special: soup, salad and 2 rolls for $8 or 3 rolls for $10 (I think, those are approximate prices). The sushi is delicious, the atmosphere is warm and comfortable and the staff is fantastic. Very friendly and great service.

I'm kind of surprised by the amount of 5 star ratings, but I think many of them may have been habatchi customers. I can't attest to that, but I can attest to both the restaurant and carry out - as I've ordered/dined in several times. The sushi is good, at least for me. I would probably consider myself an average sushi fan - I haven't been to a ton of places, but I'm no rookie either. My qualms are all about the service. Every time I have dined in here, EVERY time, the service has been so slow. They often look understaffed even when the place isn't full. I'd probably say out of the 12 or so times I've dined in or carried out, I've seen people complaining to the manager about half those times. They really need to either hire more servers and sushi chefs or work on revamping their system of getting food out to the people. Same kind of issues with carry out. Many times the food isn't ready when you get there (compare this to other 'take out' places that usually have the food ready before you even get there - at least in my experience), and when you finally flag the manager or hostess down, you are left waiting - wondering where they have gone. All in all, it's a nice looking restaurant and the food is good (albeit pricey) - but if the level of service remains where it is at, they are going to start losing business.

we had a great experience here. modern and trendy meets western suburbs. we ordered a bunch of sushi and a couple of appetizers. i have to say i was a bit surprised to find everything as good as it was. we didn't try the tempenyaki as we were in the mood for some sushi. the waitstaff was friendly and attentive. overall, a great experience and i'd definitely go back.

  • Michelle C.

Have eaten here twice: once at the hibachi tables and another in the regular dining area. I would say the hibachi experience was better than others I've had in the naperville area, and the waitresses/hibachi chef were so nice each time. I got the filet/chicken combo the first time while my date got the teriyaki calamari on the hibachi. Everything including the salad and soup were great. Second time my date got two different types of rolls. Each comes with about 8 gigantic pieces, the spicy tuna roll and I can't remember the other. For being another suburban chicago sushi spot, my date said the sushi was average/good and definitely would consider coming back to try some of their other interesting roll concoctions. I would definitely go for the hibachi or order the hibachi off the dining menu. No real complaints about the place. Its pretty solid, quiet, and never a long wait. The prices are comparable to other hibachi/sushi places in the area (kiku) and just as good. Will definitely return.

Went here tonight for my son's 13th birthday. He loves hibachi and that was his choice. Since last time we all got deathly sick from domo77 we were not going back there. First time here and we were all surprised at how big and nice the restaurant was. It was clean! Big plus for an Asian restaurant! Whooooo wants egg rooollll! Anyway, no egg roll here ... we had a sushi roll first and then hibachi. Both were great. Service was ok , not bad. The hibachi cook was funny and kept everyone watching. That's part of the fun. The food was good. Price was very expensive, more so then domo or others. But we will be back!

Looooooooooooooove this place! Moving from Illinois to Nevada, I keep comparing all the sushi places around here to this place and nothing beats my Aodake! They have amazing hibachi! Portions are great and very fairly priced. Their sushi, sashimi and hand rolls are always fresh and just so delish! I get home sick thinking about this place cause we seriously hit their Romeoville location at least once a month when we lived around the area. This is one place I make sure we go to whenever we visit Illinois!

  • Renzy M.

I love this place! For both sushi & hibachi, but mainly hibachi. You have the option of sitting at a regular table or the hibachi table. The hibachi table is a good choice if you're with a decent amount of people. They cook the food right in front of you & it is very entertaining. I would have given this place 5 stars, but the service could be a little better. The waiters & waitresses are at times not attentive as they should be and I've been here on both slow & busy nights.

  • Marianne D.

Located in a strip mall, this restaurant has both sushi and hibachi tables. The decor could be stepped up a notch; it's very nondescript and basic. The service is good the few times I've been here. The sushi is fresh and there's a good variety on the menu. The miso soup and house salad with the ginger dressing are the usual you get at sushi places. The gyoza were very good, cooked perfectly. I've never sat at the hibachi tables so no review there. If you want pretty good sushi at a fairly decent price, I would recommend this restaurant.

Went in last night with a friend on the spur of the moment. I love it here and go with friends and family and everyone always enjoys it. I come in alone often to get sushi, it is probably the best in this area! I always get the Filet Hibachi with the garlic noodles. It can get pricey here, but it's worth it. They always are on Groupon, but they are really strict about their Groupons and basically attack you to show it the second you step in the restaurant. They also don't let you use more than one so even in a large group, only 1 person can use theirs. Good luck deciding who gets to! The Hibachi comes with their clear soup (so good) and their salad with ginger dressing which is really good as well. It comes with veggies and each person gets 2 shrimp. Their white seafood sauce is the best! Really delicious. As for sushi, I always get their spicy California roll. Reasonably priced, fresh and delicious. I like to get their veggie tempura appetizer too, the vegetables all taste amazing. My one complaint is service can be pretty slow. I also am not one to participate in the saki squirting or catching food in my mouth and they can be pretty pushy about it. However, this is a super fun place especially for a large group. Make sure to make a reservation!

Went to Aodake for dinner, I would recommend reservations if you do go on the weekend. We had the Hibachi dinner and I would suggest sitting down and watch your meal being cooked, good fun! They make it fun watching your meal being cooked, I would recommend not letting the chef squirt saki at you, very messy! Watch first before you partake in that fun, if you feel you can withstand the onslaught, go for it! The meal was very good and flavorful, i would suggest ordering two main courses, I just ordered the steak and wished I would of got shrimp or lobster also. The chef did throw me a couple extra shrimp and it was very tasty! Aodake is entertainment and good food, I would actually give it t an extra half star but that option is not available.

Had a Groupon. The food was so so, not that memorable. A little far away from my husband and I since we moved so we probably won't be back!

Very average hibachi. The food was good, but our chef had zero personality, poor skills (he dropped raw eggs three times on the floor while trying to catch them) and he didn't do many of the "tricks" you expect to see them do. I had brought friends who had never experienced hibachi before, so they had low expectations. But it became very obvious that we had a poor chef when the table next to us was cheering, clapping, getting saki shot in their mouth, etc. and we were all sitting there watching our chef clean egg off the floor.

I can't comment on the hibachi, as my friend and I did not sit on that half of the room. We were promptly sat on the right side of the room, but our waitress took quite a while to even show up to ask for drinks and throughout the night she was not readily available. In fact, at two points in time we had to get up and get something ourselves or ask another staff for something. Now this is one of my friends favorite places for sushi and it was my first time, but I was not impressed. I probably wouldn't return. We each ordered a garden salad and their house ginger dressing was delicious, but out of the four rolls we ordered to share only one of them was really great. We did also order four different mochi ice cream desserts and those were very good, but other than that I don't see much that would bring me to this sushi place over my favorite locations.

We love this hibachi place. Tried once with the groupon and that was too much hassle. But, we love the food and the service.

My brother wanted sushi for his birthday that had hibachi so we ended up here based on yelp reviews and proximity. I had never had sushi before and neither had my mother. Or my 7 month old. I don't know, I felt like I should add that as there may be some very adventurous infants out there who have or may be considering it? Arrived at about 5pm on a Saturday. It was not busy. There were a couple hibachi tables going and some people in the sushi side of the restaurant. We sat at a hibachi table. My brother ordered a bunch of sushi and said it was very good. I know he got a Rainbow roll that he enjoyed. We also ordered a Godzilla roll that was very good. My mom ordered a sweet potato roll that was delicious as well. My son had some of that and enjoyed it. So his first foray into sushi was a success. The waiter was helpful and patient in explaining how the ordering works. I got shrimp hibachi with chicken friend rice. The hibachi cook was friendly and funny and generous and accurate with the sake but terrible with his broccoli launching aim. Everyone's food was great. It was very tasty. Overall we had a great time. Next time I think I'll skip the hibachi and try more sushi instead but I was glad to finally dip my toes into the water!

I've come here a couple of times. I definitely think it's a place you can eat at more than once. The prices are pretty decent for sushi and hibachi. The sushi is pretty good here. I suggest the Romeo & Juliet roll. It's cute andd it tastes pretty good. Hibachi is pretty good too. They do charge extra for toppings like the egg yolk sauce which I thought was not cool. I do suggest getting their noodles instead of their rice. It's kind of garlicky and I like it a lot. The hibachi chef likes to squirt watered down sake down your throat and kind of makes you messy. I feel like that the hibachi chefs have a funny young way about them and is best for younger adult crowds. They sometimes even seemed hurried all the time and just want to get your dinner over with. Because of the chef thing I have to put 3-stars. I like neat tricks and chefs that make you feel welcomed whether you are a child or a senior citizen and NOT in a hurry.

I wasn't entirely blown away as far as a sushi restaurant goes but this place is pretty solid. We stopped in about a week ago and not a whole lot stands out to be totally honest. The cheaper sushi rolls are about on par with just about any other place, and the specialty rolls were pretty good. I'd stick to those if I were you. We had a bit of miscommunication with our server--she didn't seem to speak much English. And yes, I get it. We're in an asian restaurant, but we are also in the United States too.

I don't know what it is about hibachi food that makes me crave the same meal all week long after indulging in a Japanese feast but I'm dying for a egg yolk covered steak right now! My husband and I took my sister out for her birthday last night. Aodake proved to be the right place for the celebration. We showed up 15 minutes early for our res and were sat right away. We were one of 2 families in the entire place on a thurs night at 5:00. Our mildly rude first waitress asked if my husband and I could order our food right away so the other family didn't have to wait long for their entrees. We asked to be sat separately because we didn't have time to order our sushi appetizers AND we were still waiting for my sister to arrive. They moved us and everything was fantastic after that. We ordered the volcano and the Larry lobster maki rolls to start..so yummy! The sushi was fresh, presented nicely and didn't need any soy to taste. The hibachi entrees were perfection and big-portioned. Our chef was fantastic and added lots of laughs to our night....Lots of laughs and lots of sake!! Our server even caught on to my very subtle it's-my-sisters-birthday hint, and came out banging a drum with a candle on a scoop of complimentary ice cream. A few servers joined in on singing happy birthday to close out a good night and a great dining experience. Bill for 3 sans drinks came out to $115. Make sure to get your groupon ahead of time for $15 off!

Yelp let me down on this one. I was in town for business with 3 other Japanese co-workers who we're visiting from Japan. We went here based on the yelp reviews but it was a total let down. No one at this restaurant could speak Japanese when there were questions which should have been a red flag right away. Our waiter told us the owners were Chinese when I asked. Many of the dishers are no where near authentic, which was disappointing. Katsudon is always made with pork but they had fried oysters instead, WTF? Against my better judgement I got a spicy salmon and tuna roll which were not good. If you know and eat sushi or anything about Japanese meals go somewhere else or you will leave disappointed.

I would normally give this place a 5 star rating, however after last night that dropped down to a 1 star. Last night was the worst service we've ever had there, it took forever for our appetizers and drinks. And it took even longer till we got a chef. Normally I let that stuff slide, however my fiance woke up in the middle of the night throwing up into the morning. She even had to call off work. Everyone else in our party of 10 is fine today. The only thing she had that we all didn't Is a Mai Tai. So I'm assuming the juice was bad. Sad to say we're probably never going back, and our leftovers are going in the trash .

I'd give the food five stars but the service was really lacking. This was my first time at this restaurant and my first time having sushi and I wasn't sure what to expect. I was just hoping we wouldn't have to stop at Wendy's on the way home! It took about ten minutes for our waitress to come over and take our drink order. We ordered an appetizer and our meals. Probably twenty minutes later our appetizer came out. We had the spicy salmon which was really good. I was liking my first sushi experience so far! About forty minutes after that my boyfriend's food came out.... but mine didn't. :( It was another ten minutes before my food came out. Kinda weird. I ordered the Pink Lady and my boyfriend had the green dragon. I tried his and obviously ate mine and definitely liked the Pink Lady better. It was also a lot of food, I was only able to eat half of it. I'd recommend this place but be prepared to wait.

My fiancé and my family frequent this place often. At least once every few weeks. There food is the best around. They always have Groupon deals which is awesome! But it seems ever since they started the Groupon deals they have become to popular and haven't hired any more staff. Every time we go the wait, unless you made a reservation, is long especially on Friday or Saturday night which is to be expected, but you just can tell there is NO organization. The woman who is the owner or the manager is always running around like a crazy person trying to help the people at the front desk but you can tell she is making it worse. You have to wait a really long time to get a refill, the waitress usually has a ton of tables and you never know where they disappear to. They aren't any where to be found and then they appear from the kitchen area looking frantic. I don't know if they have them helping in back as well as waiting tables but the service has gone noticeably down hill a lot since we first started going there. We use to joke that the waiters would hover, as soon as you took the last bite of something they were right there to pick up the empty plate. Now you have to hunt someone down or grab a random worker running past you to get a refill or to take the tower of plates from you. The food is outstanding but give yourself a long time for your meal unless you go at an off time. I highly recommend the godzilla, the dragon and the volcano rolls. All of them are my favorites. I would love to give them a 5 but the service is just terrible.

I got the 15pc sashimi deluxe dinner entree at lunch time for $25 after tax and I got it to go. They had a sashimi bento box but not just a sashimi lunch special. The inside of the restaurant looked very nice. There are a bunch of hibachi tables which sat about 6-8. My sashimi entree came with a salad, soup, and rice. My salad was soaking wet (water) and I found a hair in it. The miso soup was tasteless. They gave me soy sauce packets and no cup to dip sashimi in. The sashimi itself was not cleaned very well and I kept pulling sinew and a bone out of it. Save your money and go somewhere else.

We love going to a Japanese Steak House and Aodake is one of our favorites. We have only been to the Romeoville Location, but have been there several times. Besides great food Aodake has offers a bit of fun to your meal. I feel that their prices are also a little bit more reasonable than some other Japanese Steak Houses that we have been to. Aodake is pronounced ah-oh da' key and besides typical Japanese Steak House food they also have sushi and great appetizers. We are not into Sushi but we have ordered one of their Tempura Appetizers and it was delicious. +Aodake +JapaneseSteakHouse +Hibachi +Sushi You can view Aodake's hours and menus at aodake.com There are two locations for Aodake Sushi & Steak House this review will be for the Romeoville Restaurant ROMEOVILLE LOCATION: 462 N. They also will squirt rice wine in your mouth but if you are not interested you can just say no. I do not drink alcohol but my son has done it on occasion. I am not a big fan of this practice but a lot of people really enjoy it. We like to go to Aodake for lunch and they have a special happy hour menu. You can get any of the meals and it seems to save you about $3. You do have to offer a beverage with it, but most people will do that anyway. The only difference that I have noticed with the happy hour menu is that they leave out the bean sprouts. The first course is a bowl of soup. It is a light broth with a few mushrooms and some onions. The soup is yummy and a nice start to the meal.Next they bring out the salads which are individually made and have their own special dressing. The dressing is unique to these type of restaurants and the closest thing I can think of is Thousand Island. We all love the little salads. Everyone is given regular silver wear, as well as wood chop sticks. I like to use the chop sticks to get the full experience. Each meal comes with fried rice which is delicious. I can not eat fried rice because I am on a low carb diet so I just order and extra portion of vegetables and find it very filling without going over on my carbs. After the salads the cook comes out and starts making your meal. Each person will get a shrimp appetizer plus whatever they ordered. I usually get shrimp so I just get a couple extra. My daughter loves to get the steak and chicken and my husband gets the steak and scallops. I have tasted all of them and they use high quality meats. While the chef is cooking he will usually put on a bit of a show with eggs, fire just some fun. You will not be disappointed in the fun, the food or the reasonable prices.

Way to loud. Good food fun for all, but some folks yell the entire meal, kids screaming, chefs clanging on table (part of show). Food is good, portions are plenty.

This place is fantastic! I have never gone any other sushi and habachi place like Aodake! We chose a habachi grill table and the chef named Liky, he is expert and gave us lots of fun, we all enjoyed his habachi show! Besides, we ordered the Gozillia Roll, it is super yummy!!! I definitely will come back again!

I have been here a few times and usually they are busy but still do a good job but not tonight. We came for a birthday dinner and the restaurant wasn't even half full for slow service. There were 5 adults and 2 kids in the group. Everyone got their soups and appetizers and meal but me. The only reason I got my seaweed salad because I had to ask why I haven't received it. Mind it the group halfway thru their meal when I finally received my salad. I ordered temaki rolls and about 40 mins later after everyone received their meal I finally got my rolls but their gave me maki instead. At this point I lost my appetite waiting and cancelled the remake and left my party. Again it wasn't that busy to have slow or inadequate service. Their food is good but all I got was a insincere apology and I don't think I will be back.

Long wait for food because of the limited number of chefs cooking hibachi. Our chef was sloppy when cooking, rice was all over the place. Served very sloppy as well. Small portions of meat and lobster. Won't be coming back. Would rather try another hibachi place.

Entertaining and the food was good, but service was very, very slow. Although polite and professional, our waiter could not multi task and brought drinks out one by one- often forgetting many requests. The hibachi chef literally threw food at us, including a two year old who was in our party. My husband was soaked with sake because he would not stop squirting it in his mouth. Will return because it was fun and I'm hopeful my experience will be better.

One of my fave sushi places here in the burbs. Be sure to try one of these specialty rolls, as they are always my go-to menu items: pink lady, red Dragon or orange Dragon. Don't forget to search for the groupon before heading in, $30 for $15, which tends to be available often!

  • Diana G.

I picked up the Groupon to try this place out. We went on the last day and I called to make reservations and the lady was very nice on the phone. We went in the afternoon and the place was big and only a few tables occupied. Shrimp and Crunch Roll - This was okay, but it was a bit cold. Pink Lady - I actually liked this a bit better than the Chinese Dragon. Chinese Dragon - My guy preferred this over the Pink Lady. This thing is MASSIVE! Salmon Teriyaki and Shrimp Tempura Combo - The salmon was good. I just wished it was maybe a bit bigger for the price. Overall, we really enjoyed our meals. We definitely over ordered so we know better next time. We will probably make the trek out there to try the happy hour or maybe hibachi grills one day.

I'm in between a 3- 4 star. My wife and I went to dinner here, and we liked the food a lot but....it felt like an eternity to get the ball rolling. Its really calm here and a good spot for a quiet evening but don't come hungry like I did, I got pretty aggravated after waiting 15 minutes for our server to come and another 10 to get a drink... not to mention the food. Overall it was entertaining and flavorful. I'm giving 3 stars because I'm annoyed at the fact that I had to wait so long on a slow night for service and there was no one around when I needed another drink. I might, might not return. I recommend going in a group though.

We called early in the day to make a reservation for the evening. The person taking the reservation talked us into coming later than we wanted by promising that we wouldn't have to wait. We arrived at 7:50 P.M. for our 8 P.M. reservation. The place was packed and there was barely anywhere to stand to cheek in. We were told it would be 45 minutes to 1 hour. No apology or anything. The most annoying thing is that they had asked for my phone number when I made the reservation. One would think they could call and let me know they were running late, especially after promising we wouldn't have to wait by coming later. After about 1 hour, we were finally seated. It was freezing cold in the place and it felt like the air conditioner was blowing directly on us even though it was about 10 degrees outside. Some people in my party were so cold they had to eat with their coats on the whole time. We ordered our meals and also ordered the hibachi noodles. Come to find out, ordering the noodles (which cost extra) somehow replaces the fried rice that comes with the meal. We asked for the rice we were supposed to get and it came toward the end of the meal from the kitchen. The rice was good but they charged us about $9.00 for 3 servings for something that was supposed to be part of the meal. The food was good and so was the chef. He did all the normal hibachi shenanigans and was entertaining. To top it all off, were where there celebrating a birthday. Apparently for birthdays they come and bang some drum and sing, along with bringing a piece of cake or something. It's more embarrassing than anything but I wanted to get payback on someone who let Chili's know it was my birthday and embarrassed me. I let the hostess know about the birthday and I also let the waitress know. By the end of the meal, the place was pretty empty with only 2 or 3 other tables remaining. I stalled as long as I could but they never came with the birthday routine. We just ended up leaving. If it wasn't for the food, the whole experience would have been a bust. With so many other Japanese places around, I won't be back to this one.

Love this place. I tend to go to the Darien location more because it's closer, but when I'm having huge parties, it's the place to go. Fully stocked bar, lots of tables and space. Friends are always super impressed and happy when they leave. The food is obviously one of the best things about this place. Big portions and coupons are always a plus!

What a shame!! This restaurant used to be a favorite of mine. I went with a friend for her birthday and the service was horrible!!! It took ten minutes just to order our drinks. The waitress forgot our sushi rolls. Then both of our meals were made incorrectly! Time for a new place.

Been to both locations before and I have to say the Romeoville location is my preferred choice. My son (2 years) gets the unagi and avocado roll cut in 8 pieces and miso soup. I would get a bunch of sashimi. Am from Chicago and have tried many sushi places and have worked in sushi restaurants 9 years and counting... their fish is not the best but it's afforable. They are also accommodating.

We've been here many times and it's always been great. Tonight, however, the portion size was much smaller than ever before. The food was still good, but all of us who ordered hibachi entrees received a half a plate of food. Not just the meat portion, but rice and vegetables. At least they could have filled us up on rice. Disappointed...

The bigger sushi rolls here are delicious! The waitress was really kind and had great recommendations. Orders are flexible, meaning if you don't like soy paper, you could substitute with seaweed sheet, which was what I did. Price is decent, your regular sushi dinner price. Portion is pretty good. The environment is nice, however, if you come here only for sushi, I do recommend you to sit on the right side of the restaurant because the tables on the left side are with the hibachi grills. It could be noisy because the hibachi cooks put on a show and interact with customers. But if you don't mind, and enjoy watching, it's pretty entertaining as well.

I made a reservation for my sisters bachelorette party 3 weeks in advance and made it clear what the occasion was. When we arrived at the restaurant they did not have the reservation and we had to sit at the bar until they could find a table. That would have been fine until they tried to sit us with children. When we complained to the hostess her response was well it's a Saturday night I don't know what you want me to do. When I showed proof that I made the reservation she went and spoke to a manager, who did not once come out and speak to us. We made it clear to the waitress that my sisters tab went to us she was obviously not paying. My sister was the first person the check was handed to. My sister ordered sushi and they brought her the wrong one. Another bridesmaid ordered sushi and hers was not brought out until we were almost done eating our hibachi. The cook was rude and the only show we got was him spraying saki all over our clothes. I've been a regular at this restaurant however after this experience I will not ever be going back. It did not start our night out well.

Ehhhhhh... That is how I feel about this place. The atmosphere just throws me off, but the food is a pleasant surprise. We ordered a shrimp tempura roll as an appetizer and it was good, but by far one of the top rolls we have had. You can tell the ingredients are fresh which is a plus. We decided we would do the hitachi for entrees. My husband ordered the seafoood explosion which he loved. He chose lobster, calamari and shrimp. I ordered the small filet and it was extremely tender and flavorful. Our grill artist (is that what they are called?) was nice. He wasnt overly entertaining, but we really dont go out for dinner to be entertained. The next table over had a hillairous chef who was squirting sake down everyones throat. We passed. It was a Tuesday for heavens sake! In conclusion, the food was good but it just had a funky aura. I definitely prefer Taiyro in Lisle.

My boyfriend and I came here for Valentine's Day, we made reservations and just a little wait time since we were early, but they have a nice area with sofa to sit and wait. We sat at the sushi bar and were served and taken care of very quickly, I always get water but my boyfriend got a beer, and I wish I could remember what kinda but he was extremely happy about it and loved it. He ordered the clear soup, dumplings, and the Chicago roll. The soup came out right away, dumpling shortly after and then the Chicago roll. We ordered 3 other rolls and shared them. My favorite one is the Monster roll, it's crunchy and has some spice which are my two favourite things. The prices are extremely reasonable and you get a lot of sushi for the price too, very very tasty. My water was always full or half full, the food was delicious and quickly brought out, the staff was kind, polite, attentive but not overly there which I find very annoying. We've already gone back and will continue to dine here.

Hibachi restaurants are popping up all over the place. This one has been here for a while and I think the quality has steadily declined over the past couple of years. We frequent this place maybe once a quarter or so as my wife really likes the hibachi style dinner, so review focuses on the hibachi offering. As hibachi restaurants go, this is exactly what you expect. You sit around an 8-10 person table, your chef comes and prepares the lion's share of your meal in front of you on a large flattop. Hibachi dinner consists of soup, salad, fried rice, vegetables, and your choice of protein. Soup is largely some kind of beef / chicken broth with a dried mushroom floating in it. The salad is iceberg lettuce and a cucoumber slice with a great ginger dressing. At this point in the meal, the chef comes out with all the table's food on a cart and starts preparing the meal. Most of the time the chefs we seem to get at our table seem to be rather lame, definitely fatigued from catching eggs in their hat and performing the onion volcano 6 nights a week. However, I have realized that the more excitable the crowd at their table is, the more excitable they will get. Your kids will love it though! As for the food prepared at the table, it's generally good but inconsistent between chefs. Sometimes you get your vegetables first, sometimes you get your fried rice first, other times we've gotten the protein first. I've ordered my steak teryaki style before and it's been prepared without it, when I brought it to the chef's attention he just squirted some teryaki sauce on my plate. I can't say I've ever had a bad meal here though. What I do feel though is Groupon has kind of ruined this restaurant. They offer Groupon deals quite frequently, and though it is a good deal, the place has seem to have gone downhill the last year or so. I can't quite describe it, but it just seems to have gotten "less classy".

My ridiculously favorite sushi place of all time.... I've been to others since that I think compare and when I go back, I'm reminded that nothing holds a candle. The food is amazing. Always on point and the manager walks around to check on things. They also have groupon specials all the time which allows me to go back waaaaay more than I should.

I went here because I bought a Groupon. My bestie and I were craving sushi. Our favorite roll was the Rock N Roll so good. The Shrrimp tempura had an excess of cucumbers I would have preferred less. The Groupon came with 2 beers and they were bottles not drafts that was nice. Over nice staff and nice meal. Only thing I didn't like they announced we had a Groupon to everyone in the restraunt. I would like to go back and try there hibachi grill.

I had heard about Aodake through a couple of people and heard only great things about it. I wanted to try it for myself because I love Japanese Steak Houses. I was on Groupon one day and came across a great day for Aodake, $20.00 for $40.00 to use at the Steak House. I also had a coupon from Groupon for $15.00 off of my first Groupon, so I ended up getting the $40.00 worth for $5.00! Whenever I'm going to a new restaurant, I like to go onto Yelp to help me get a better feel of what my experience will be like. When I typed in Aodake, many good reviews did come up, but a few were not as good. One person said that because they had the Groupon, they received poorer service from the wait staff. It didn't make sense to me that they would treat a customer in that manner. So I decided to go in and see what the service was like. I called about two hours before I planned on going in just to make sure that I was going to be able to have dinner that night. I made a reservation for 8:30 and the lady on the phone was very helpful with setting up the reservation and letting me know what to do about my Groupon. Upon arriving, we were very nicely greeted by two women at the front. They were eager to get us to a table to start our meal. Our Waiter's name was Alex and he seemed very shy, but was very nice and got our orders correct, which is all that really matters. My one pet peeve when I go to a restaurant is when the server takes forever to refill my drink, but that was not the case here. Alex was very helpful with taking our plates away when we were finished, and was always there the second we needed a refill on our drinks. When the cook came, he was all smiles and seemed to enjoy his job. There was so much food; it was more than enough for us two. But hey, who doesn't love a lot of food? We ordered the NY Strip Medium and Well Done, shrimp fried rice, and the hibachi noodles. All were fabulous! I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who is looking for a night full of fun! It was date night for me, but it would even be a great atmosphere to take a family or just a group of friends. The cook gets everyone involved, and there will never be a dull moment. I cannot wait for my next time to go to Aodake for some more great food.

Good sushi and hibachi restaurant. It is tough to find good sushi this far out of the city, but Aodake delivers. Really good sushi at a really good price

So this is one of my favorite places to come and eat hibachi and their sushi is really good to. I must always get Both. Because it so hard to choose. The chefs there do amazing tricks. And everybody just has a good time at the table. Great customer service

This is my favorite sushi place, including the suburbs and Chicago. I've been here several times with girlfriends and my fiance, and we haven't been disappointed once. We haven't tried the hibachi, because the sushi is just too irresistible. What to do: -Try a watermelon lychee martini. It's the best drink on the menu, and I've never had anything like it. -Try the Pink Lady sushi roll. I love the crunch on the outside, and it isn't overloaded with sauce. -Try MORE rolls! If you're adventurous, try the mango madness. It has a nice zesty fruit flavor, and the mango sauce isn't too heavy. Another favorite is the shrimp & crunchy. What not to do: -Expect quick service, especially on a weekend. -Try the Chicago roll. Avoid! Not good. Too much sauce. -Order a California roll and pay for it - you can use your coupon for this! PROS: -You get a coupon for a free appetizer or roll on your next visit, every time! -Extensive menu with fresh sushi -No long waits to be seated -Inexpensive, compared to other sushi places CONS: -Can get loud near the hibachi tables (ask to be seated in the dining area if you want quiet -Somewhat long waits for your order -Some of the waitstaff does not speak good English and can sometimes mess up your order (happened only once, we ordered the shrimp & crunchy roll. It wasn't crunchy, I don't know what it was. Looked like crab). GO TO AODAKE NOW!

I heart you, Aodake. I have been to both of Aodake locations, but this one is the one you want. The decor is very nice (Darien has some odd tables). Also, even when the service is slow, it's a lot friendlier than at Darien. The hibachi chefs are generally flashier as well. The food is pretty much what you'd expect. It's good, no complaints. You can generally get a groupon or restaurant.com certificate to come here, so check with your local website before just showing up. Oh! And it gets busy on the weekends, but they will take reservations, so make that happen for yourself.

We had such a fun time here on a recent "date night" We sat at the hibachi grill with a group of strangers, but the hibachi chef made us all feel like we had been best friends forever. I have been to many hibachi/sushi places, but this chef was the most entertaining I have seen. We will definitely be back!

I find myself in this area for a few reasons. The main one being shopping (at Maurice's)...Don't judge me! I have often found myself out here famished with the usual Chili's and fast food joints around. Ugh! This is a great alternative when you find yourself out in the boonies, as I refer to the area. I absolutely refused to do the hibachi! C'mon, I have to fit in shorts in a matter of days! All of the sushi was pretty good. I stuck to basic maki rolls and a few pieces of tuna sashimi. The service was around the 3 star range, but was pretty attentive during my dessert (red bean ice cream). Yum! Prices are very reasonable, and they even give you a coupon for a free item on your next visit! Now I can grab some lunch and not have to go up a size at Maurice's. **Unless you like things really deep fried, stay away from the Chicago roll**

I rarely have time to write reviews on Yelp with my busy schedules but I wanted to sit down and take the time to write one tonight after having another awesome experience. The entire staff is extremely friendly and polite while maintaining a very professional atmosphere. They are eager to suggest entrees and all the food comes out in a timely manner. The sushi rolls are innovative and the sashimi is very fresh. Be sure to get some drinks and try the fried banana + ice cream for desert. We are always treated like VIP even though we are just regular guests. Amy + Lucy and her staff are simply awesome. Few Japanese places can compare to this place even in the city so be sure to try this little secret in the suburbs and consider this a premier place to get Japanese food!

I am a regular here. I used to go once a month for a while. The servers know my boyfriend and I by name. The staff is wonderful and welcoming, and the food is delicious. There is a vegetarian section under sushi...and it is good to see it :). Thank you for being accommodating

As a family, we've been to this location before but after last nights experience, we will never go back. After being seated, a girl came and took our order, a few minutes later another girl came and said they can't find our order so they took it again. We waited a long time for them to take our order and then about 30 mins for anyone to come and cook. We had to ask what is going on before anyone came. At no time during our meal did anyone come around to ask for more drinks. The place is FREEZING cold and when you ask why, they offer you a cup of hot water. What??? The cook was good with his knife but was not at all funny when he would walk away and say that he's not cooking if someone wouldn't try something and then as cold as I was, he sprayed me with a water bottle right in the face. Not professional. Once done eating, we had to find someone to give us a check bc nobody was coming around to check on us. We will never return to this restaurant again.!!!!

What can I say? Very quiet and spacious. The Hibachi grill is delicious and fun, like my kids always having fun to see some tricks before they eat. I've never tried their other dishes on the menu aside from their sushi and sashimi. Reasonable price for some fresh sushi.

I have been to this place a few times now and I went here again today. The food is great and service is good. If you love sushi, they make one of the best in the burbs. The place itself is spacious and great for the kids. I would recommend my family and friends to come here. Come here during happy hour where their prices on entrees are very affordable and delicious!

Checked this place out after reading about it on Yelp and personally, it was an okay place. Nothing too fancy and what not. Food was pretty good, but I think a bit overpriced. Sushi selection was good, and the entree selection was good as well. I'll probably come back here for special occasions. Not much complaints otherwise.

This is the usual sushi spot every time I'm in the area. Fast service and I always leave satisfied. My bf and I typically order: 2 miso soups, 4 salmon nigiri, salmon avocado roll, spicy tuna roll, Godzilla roll (my favorite), and the dragon roll. Sushi is fresh and a bit pricey. Oh, and we always get a coupon for a free appetizer which is always good since we're there every 2 weeks or so. We never sit in the hibachi area (we're not big fans of the hibachi grill at all).

We went here because Sushi Train was closed for remodeling. We had been here once before for the Hibachi. The food was okay that first time and the show was the Hibachi grill standard. Today we came for Sushi. My wife and son ordered some rolls, I ordered the Nabe Yaki Udan. Noodles with seafood. I had eaten this in the past at Sushi Train but it was far superior here. The rolls my family ordered were delicious as well. Service was just okay. They only had a couple of people on the floor and were slightly busy. Took some time to get drink refills. We will be back again. I want more of that delicious Udann

I love this place! Their lunch specials are reasonable and you can get them to go. They allow me to substitute if there's something I dislike. The sushi is fresh. I highly recommend the Romeo and Juliet maki roll. It's a meal in itself! My kids love the hibachi and the food is very flavorful, not bland like at some hibachi restaurants. Like another reviewer, we had King Sley as our chef. Their desserts are very good. I recommend the fried bananas or mochi.

We got a groupon but we didn't get the "special treatment" somebody said they received. We were seated with other customers who has no groupon. We were seated quite quickly but it took a while for the waitress to do EVERYTHING. The waitress might be new because she looked very unexperienced. She didn't ask us how we'd like our shrimp (egg yolk, garlic, teriyaki, hibachi), so the entire table got the same style of shrimp. The soda we got has ice filled from bottom to top. The price was quite reasonable, that's because the portion is not very generous. I really have to give kudos to the hibachi tho because they're the most entertaining hibachi chefs I've ever seen. They really know how to heat up the atmosphere. They shout and they play nice tricks and they feed you sake with squeeze bottles! However, sometimes they intentionally shoot water at you, which I really think some of the customers will feel offended by that. They were just joking, but that might be too much for some. The hibachi food is just OK. Service is slow (maybe just for this waitress). It's a nice place for a whole bunch of friends to have a good time. For the best tasting hibachi, maybe not.

I've never had a bad meal here. The staff are always courteous and friendly. You even get a little hot towel to wash your hands at the start of the meal. The hibachi chefs are truly a step above what you'll find at other Japanese-style restaurants. Expect a great show, plenty of interaction between the chefs and you, and food that is cooked and seasoned well. It is a bit pricey for dinner, but they do have lunch specials that are reasonable. It's definitely worth it to visit here.

Food is top notch! Kingsley is the man, Make sure you request him... You wont regret it. Needs some work in the bartending area, Kind of slow in that department. If you like Hibachi, Than this is your place.

As is often the case, thanks to Yelp, I found this place last minute after closing down IKEA. Having moved to STL from California, I've been disappointed with most sushi in STL. This was a great step back to civilization. The place may not look like much (strip mall sushi joint) but the food is both affordable and delicious. If you find yourself hungry in IKEA and want something other than Swedish meatballs, head out to this place.

I have been here serveral times and the sushi is always delicious! It's also a great place to go if you are dining with someone who doesn't like sushi. They have a variety to pick from. Adoke often has coupons on living social or groupon which is always a plus.

This place is about as good as it gets for me and sushi. I have been coming here for about as long as it has been open and the quality is as good as ever. As usual my recent adventure there was take-out and this time I only ordered 2 rolls. When you order there a couple times they keep track and the host even offered me the usual (which was a little sad, leading to my change of desicion). I have eaten inside on many occasions and I have no real complaints to offer. The service is a tad on the slow side but great food and friendly service do go a long way with me. There is a woman who usually hangs around the front desk and she appears to be a manager of sorts. She is pretty awesome and suggested I try the Chinese Dragon roll next time I order sinces it's big and I'll only need one. There is a nice sort of ambiance in the decor, in the typical Americanesque Japanese restaurant style. The sushi side of the restaurant is lit for the mood with a nice bright counter to watch the chef work his magic. The hibachi side has a lot more lighting, presumably to prevent patrons from being impaled on a rogue shrimp making his escape from the show. There is a large bar between the two sides, but for the life of me I can't remember ever sitting there. I have, however, had some of their sake and ginormous bottles of Kirin Light. I can't comment on the quality of all the food though, since I stick with the sushi. The tempura appetizers are awesome and come with a really tasty dipping sauce. Every roll I've had so far minus one have been simply amazing. The only exception of course is the Cactus roll, way too much cilantro and jalepenos even for my spicey palette. The sakura roll is probably the best if you are into big stuffed rolls baked with a creamy, slightly spicy may all over it (you are!). Have some of the tempura ice cream to top it off. When I ordered it the server even put whipped cream and chocolate syrup all over. Looked nasty, tasted amazing! This is my favorite restaurant in the area, sushi or otherwise and I hope they are around for a while because I really hate replacing favs.

Aodake is a hibachi and sushi place, comparable to a Benihana but right in Romeoville. I went with a friend recently; we didn't sit at the grill tables so thus didn't have the "flame-on" experience (though every so often a huge flare-up over there was obvious from the corner of our eyes in the more sedate dining room). I usually don't order chicken teriyaki at a "real" Japanese restaurant, but I didn't feel like sushi, and teriyaki sounded pretty good that particular day; it came on a sizzling plate (like fajitas), and had a rather complex sauce, not the overly-sweet type all too common. My friend enjoyed her oyako donburi (sauteed chicken, vegetables and egg on rice). Entree options include teriyaki, tempura, sushi, noodle dishes, hibachi dishes; there are also the usual Japanese-style appetizers and soups and salads. A good dinner option in the SW suburbs, particularly if you're looking for something with a little drama.
