The food is really good and very reasonably priced. They have the best handmade tortillas in Rockford. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they take to long to wait on your table. Don't go if your in a hurry or on your lunch break.

This place has got to be one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever been to. Very small, mom and pop feel to it but the food is all that matters and it is very good! Not in the best location but it is well worth the trip. Please give this place a try.

Steak burrito was terrible. Mostly rice as a filler. Son had a hamburger and French fries. The hamburger was not edible and he eats almost everything. Salsa was awesome, but chips were stale. Husband had steak ranchero which he liked. Service was terrible. Won't be coming back.

By far the best tacos in Rockford. Homemade tortillas make all the difference.

Excellent authentic Mexican Food! I always get tacos when I go to a new Mexican place, and these were phenomenal. The tortillas were homemade, the carnitas and pasotor were tender and flavorful. The chorizo left a little to be desired...kind of tasted like store-bought stuff. But, it was still good. Overall this place is GREAT.

The guacamole is the best in Rockford! The chicken tacos and enchiladas are great! The restaurant itself is kind of small but it seems very happy and family oriented. The prices are good. The medium guacamole is $1.50 and the large is $3! I know this because we ordered the medium and then after we scarfed it down we ordered the large! Haha we will definitely be back again.

This is a nice little Mexican place. The food is authentic and the service was good. I'll stop in again for lunch the next time I'm in town.

Don't let the shabby outside fool you! This inside of place is nice and clean (the bathrooms too!) with yummy, cheap food. They serve authentic Mexican food, so don't expect anything tex-mex style. The menu includes things I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole, like goat meat, munudo and cabeza, but hey, somebody must love those things. Good for them. I had the tostada salad. It was large and delicious. My family members enjoyed their tamales and tacos. This place was a surprise to find in a virtual ghost town with boarded up windows on most of the homes and business. I have to admit that when I decided to stop here it was only because it was practically the only non-fast food place along a 6 hour drive from Iowa the Chigago airport. I actually thought " Fine I'll eat just about anything at this point, even from a shack like this." I expected to just choke down something mediocre but this food really was great! After eating there we drove all the way to Chicago before my father-in-law noticed he had forgotten his wallet. I called the place and the said the wallet was there. We drove al the way back (thanks dad) and retrieved the wallet which was returned with all the money still inside. Sweet! If You are ever driving through this part of the northern midwest, this is your best bet.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
