I've been frequenting here for over a year since moving to Rockford. Never had any problems and the food is always tasty. We often get a combination of the hibachi tofu and a few rolls for take out. Friendly staff, clean environment. The food is quite good for a fast-food style take out joint and we continue to enjoy it.

I used to go to Hachi Hachi quite a lot when I was living in Rockford and it was my go-to sushi place. However, I noticed the quality going down in recent years and I had not been in a while. Over the holidays, I was visiting family and they asked if I wanted to get dinner there and, excited that everyone was on board for sushi, I said sure! I can honestly say I have never had such terrible sushi in my life. I ordered two rolls and I actually threw half of one of them away because there were so many bread crumbs and it was so dry in the middle, I couldn't bring myself to try and chew it anymore. The other roll was edible, but not something I'd pay for again. The affordability is not worth it if the quality is so bad any money spent is a waste. I hope the owners get it together and either bring the quality back up to where it used to be, or get used to losing more customers, especially when you can get better sushi for a dollar or two more at other restaurants in the city.

Excellent sushi and lunch specials for the price. Unless you want top of the line sushi, this place is going to be exactly what you are looking for. I've been eating here for years and have always had wonderful experiences with the food and service. Everything is cooked to order and is fresh. Also, delivery is fast and pretty reasonably priced. Overall, a good Japanese restaurant if you want to get your sushi fix without spending too much money.

What you get here is quality fast food sushi. It's good, and it's consistent. I've only ever ordered the basics here, and they are solid. My favorite from here is the spicy yellow tail roll. The hibachi is a terrible greasy mess the three times I've ordered it. No liquor here. Kitchen appears clean. I've never sat in the dining room.

I've frequented this establishment on multiple occasions and I like the place for what it is, fast food sushi. You are not going to find top of the line gourmet sushi, what you are going to find is something relatively cheap and quick yet still tastes okay. I have my favorites here, The volcano roll, Spicy Tuna, Firecracker and Rockford Sunset rolls. They have others that are good too. I've never had any issue with the quality of the food. I usually enjoy what I get. Have I had better, yes... but it wasn't this far inland and it wasn't at a restaurant that used to be a Dairy Queen. This one and their partner store off of Riverside are ones I hit up for lunch at least once a month. Make sure you have some time when you order. it seems to take about 15 minutes from the time the order is placed until the food is received even if there is no one else in front of you.

This is the cheapest sushi in Rockford, but remember you get what you pay for. As long as you keep it simple (bagel rolls are the best) you will be okay, but if you order anything complicated.... This place was a hang out spot for a while b/c they are located right by my school and they had competitive pricing.

Food is great, place is small and quiet. I will come back in the future. Try the crab egg roll!!

I eat here a lot because the food is inexpensive, convenient and good. The have a wide menu selection that could appeal to most. For example, I have dietary restrictions, but there are still a lot of rolls that I'm able to choose from (the Hachi Hachi and bagel rolls are my personal favorites). Service is generally pretty fast.

Ordered the chicken fried rice, the spicy tuna sushi roll and salmon sushi roll, went out there based on previous user reviews. No cant do!!! service was okay, food was cheap, and mediocre at best, dated a Japanese girl for 7+ years and ate at all sorts of Japanese restaurants in CT, NY, Chicago, and Atlanta, this was one the least favorable places I have ever been. Needless to say, ILL NEVER BE BACK. Chicken was over cooked and sushi wasn't fresh. Granted 9ish on a Friday night, but food could have been better, much better!!!

THIS is the cheap sushi place that you are looking for. They have a big selection with cheap and slightly expensive sushi. They also have good Hibachi (which is not raw, in case you have qualms)

Absolutely awful. I have no idea how this place could have gotten five stars from ANYONE, but never again! I ordered 4 pieces of sushi and the shrimp and steak hibachi. The steak was almost all gristle, the shrimp was slimy and had clearly gone bad. The sushi was inedible-- dry, rubbery, and smelled rotten. Even the rice was overly salty and stale. Blech!

Good for decent (and reasonably priced) sushi. The fried rice and Hibachi Steak are both delicious. Looking for a roll? Get the shrimp tempura roll. The portions are huge; I usually split the hibachi and shrimp roll with another person. We're both full and satisfied by the end. This location is owned and run by the same person who runs the Hachi Hachi on Riverside.

While I am only giving this place 3 stars, I would like to say I enjoy it very much. While the sushi is not top notch, it is by no means low quality. The price is very reasonable. There is a great deal of variety on the menu. If you are looking for high class Japanese cuisine than this place is not for you. If you are looking for something quick with great prices, I would recommend this place. Oh, and make sure to get an order of the spicy crab egg roll. Best thing on the menu.
