For chinese buffet it's the better of the bunch in the area. That really doesn't say much because I'm still running to the bathroom a couple hours later thanks to the tasteless mess they serve from the kitchen. Basically if you're actually searching for good chinese buffet in Rockford you deserve the unnecessary bowel movements that will come from it.

I rarely write 1 star reviews but this place was quite possibly dangerous to eat at. First time I went to here it was pretty dang good but recently it's been completely different. It seems the cooks and staff alike don't have much to offer in the name of service. You will receive very little attendance at your table. That being said the food, when hot, was just OK. It was american traditional Chinese. What scared me was the seafood. The sushi was (yes the raw fish variety) was WARM and the grilled fish not only smelled like a river but tasted plain rotten so in short if you value your health avoid this place at all cost. Also speaking of cost lunch buffet is around $10and for 2 we left paying around $40 when we arrived at 1pm. So there you go in stead of China buffet they should replace that c with an sh.

This place is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. The food is old and questionable. I have never walked out of a restaurant but did here but not after eating one plate with my girlfriend looking on in absolute horror. I had horrible gut ache and I ate one plate of food after paying 25 dollars.

This place was terrible, never waked out on a meal until now. The food was overcooked and tasted like it had been sitting out all day. To scared for my health to eat the sushi. The only saving grace was that they only charged for one meal instead of two, as we walked out after several small bites.

I have frequented this buffet over the years they have been around. Unfortunately, the owners seem to have lost the passion for this business. Every time we go in it seems to get worse. The problems: Old Sushi (left over from the previous day and believe me owners we can tell) Cold or Old Hot food (dry and crusty over cooked etc) The only thing fresh is the fish in the tank as you walk into this place and I think their days are numbered. The Service is terrible too. Who trained these ladies. Just Rude.

This place is horrible! The food was over cooked, sushi was dried out. Service here is not helpful at all. When busy or not. The waitress don't say thank you or your welcome. Bad customer service. I have been to a lot of chinese buffet in my life but I never had this bad of experience in my whole life. I do not recommend Nobody to eat here. I give you guys 1 star!

Friday night should be a good time for fresh food, right? Wrong if you come to this restaurant. Most all of the food my wife and I ate here was warm, at best. If the food was fresh and hot, this would have been fun. $25.11 for two people included a soft drink for two of us.

City Buffet is much like most oriental style buffets you find across the country. They have a variety of oriental themed foods as well as non-oriental style foods. (Pizza, Ribs, fried fish, etc.). The food is okay. There really isn't anything that was all that great. They did have some that was kind of nasty, but I believe that is true of most buffets of any style. The buffet is broken down into different sections. "Cold Foods" "Fried Foods" "Chinese" "American" "Sushi" and "Mongolian" However, except for the "cold foods" and "Sushi" the rest of the signs seem to be slightly misleading or at least off in generalizations. That's not really an issue; I just found it a little amusing. I didn't try the sushi rolls. They had them sitting on plates and after a couple of other bad experiences with buffet sushi at other places, I tend to stay away from it. I really wouldn't recommend any specific dish because there wasn't any that really stood out, I will say that you should try a small amount of anything you find interesting to see if you like it and then go back for seconds. I found a couple of items that were just inedible. The service was on par for what I would expect at a buffet. They sat us quickly, kept our drinks filled and cleared away plates when we were finished. They didn't have a tray of forks near the plates. When they cleared away my plate with the fork on it, I had to ask for another, so keep that in mind. Overall the place was pretty clean. The tables were cleared and cleaned promptly when someone would leave. What more can you expect from a buffet?

This was a horrible idea comming here! The food was old and dried out there were maybe 3 dishes to eat. Everything was so cheaply made I spent $25.00 for the 2 of us. The waitress when I got ready to leave told us we ate too much! I never seen such rude people! I didnt eat much there wasnt alot that was edible I only had 2 plates. I left alot of food behind the sauces they used in some of the dishes tasted like champagne mixed with vinegar (yuck). I will never come here again! Keep your money and run!

They were better when they first opened. The last couple of trips were disappointing unless you count the entertainment value of going to a buffet with all-you-can-eat crab legs. Watching the Spherical family try to make the Snow Crab extinct is like watching a slow motion car wreck, it's hard to turn away even though you want to. They should have taken the whole steam tray out of the buffet back to their table, it would have been less horrible to watch. There was melted butter and shell fragments everywhere....................... Oh the humanity.

Not at all impressed and will not be going back. Cold food, old rice, very little selection, non authentic Chinese foods, service is not so great, noisy dining room, etc. If I could have given it less that one star I would have, Worst Chinese buffet in town.

It was in line with most Chinese buffets that I've been to. Not the best, but not the worst, so I wouldn't mind going back if we were in Rockford and wanting Chinese.
