My factory orders capri pizzas every friday. They are awefull. Crust is always undercooked and becomes part of the card board box. No flavor very bland.

Capri is one of the more iconic restaurants in Rockford to visit. I was home from Nashville for a week and my family and I decided to go here on a Saturday night. We called ahead to make a reservation since there were 10 of us, but when we got there I was surprised with how few people were there. They were still pretty busy, but from what I remember during previous visits, this is kind of rare. Anyway, we were seated quickly and the service is always great. They have a lot of interesting murals on the walls and it's got that old school Italian feel. The food is pretty decent. It's not going to blow your mind, although the pizza is pretty dang good. The side salad with house green olive dressing is legit, just make sure you get the dressing on the side otherwise they will pile it on there. This kind of Italian food is not going to blow you away with how awesome it is, but it's still pretty tasty. The prices are decent too and they have quite a few varieties of wine and other cocktails. If you're from out of town and visiting Rockford, this is definitely a place to visit. Even if you're from the area, it's nice to come here once in a while to bring back some nostalgia and reminisce about the old times. I've met more than one person who said that their first date was here. I know I'll be back whenever I'm home again.

Pizza is terrible and tastes flat out weird and the salad is way overloaded with dressing. Don't waste your time and money. I seriously do not get how this place is rated so highly. My office uses them to cater meetings often. The first two times I suffered through the so-called food plastic tasting pasta and hard rolls and started bringing my own food for Capri days

I dine out approximatley 15-20 times a week and Capri earns my highest rating. I have dined with this establishment several times. The quality of the food is above average, always fresh and flavorful. The building is very clean. The staff is very polite. I have never had a bad experience here. Highly recommended.

I get take out from here often. The pizza is very good and the cheese is melty but not greasy. I'd say the pizza here is better than 95% of the other pizza joints in rockford.

BEST pizza in Rockford hands down. When you go in to pick up your pie you will always see Vito and his family working in the kitchen. They take pride in their product and refuse to pay people with less talent and experience to produce their awesome food. The pizza is so damn affordable it's insane. The crust is GREAT, and is as enjoyable as the rest of the pie. Great sausage with more than generous portions. Fresh veggies are a treat as well, not many places offer red bell pepper as a topping. To Vito and family keep up the AMAZING job.

So I have a lot of fond memories of this place from when I was really young. I remember the ramp, the ugly carpeting, the giant mural on the wall, and standing on my toes of watch them work through the window in the kitchen. I recently went back for lunch and wasn't so impressed. We walked in and waited a solid 5 minutes before a woman came out to seat us. When she did she told us to wait while she went to find us a table. She then directed to an open table with out menus - didn't even bother to walk us there. We each ordered a salad and it came back loaded, I mean LOADED with a funky tasting dressing. I was scooping it off my salad to find the lettuce. I set that aside and waited for my pizza. Pizza came. It was pretty tasteless and wasn't anything special. I got a mini one and ate everything but two pieces. When I told the woman I didn't want a box, she gave me a dirty look and basically ruined the experience for me. Thankfully she promptly brought the bill and we were able to leave. Awkward experience and I have no desire to go back. I really wanted to give this place a higher rating. It seemed like a lot of people there were regulars so maybe that's why so many people are giving it 5 stars? I don't know. I gave it two stars because I did enjoy going back to a place of nostalgia for me. Otherwise, it kinda sucked.

A blessing in disguise!! After having terrible customer service at Irish Rose,my boyfriend and I just happened to find this amazing restaurant on a whim. We arrived at 5 minutes to 9:00. We were greeted by a wonderful server by the name of Ian. We asked if the kitchen was still open? Without hesitation, he said yes it was and took us to a table. Great service, phenomenal dinner, and reasonably priced- definitely will be back! Oh, and not only was the experience great, but they accommodated our bikes while we ate!

I grew up in Rockford and have lived many places since then, but have never been able to find the same quality of pizza as there is in Rockford. Capri is in my top 3 of Pizzas I grew up with and I make it an almost unbreakable tradition to get in at least once whenever I am back in town to visit family. Was just back in last week and popped in for my pizza fix on Wednesday night. Service is great, love the atmosphere, and of course it is the pizza that keeps me coming back. Even joked with our waitress that I was going to kidnap Vito and bring him back to Seattle with me so that I could get some decent pizza out here.

This is a good first date place. It's a little old school but it has great old world charm. The staff is very friendly and they give good service. Most important is the pizza which is very tasty and addicting. You should try this restaurant because you won't regret it!

One of the best authentic Italians restaurants in the Rockford area. The pizza is definitely the best in town.

Good food, okay prices. Service was acceptable. The problem was watching them turn away 13 people with half a dinning room empty. It took 45-60 minutes for those empty chairs to fill with the reserved buttocks. If they weren't so slow the could have accommodated those 13 people (three parties; six, four, and three respectively).

The best pizza and Italian food around. Cozy booths and a nice bar. Great staff. We couldn't have asked for more.

I tried Capri after reading the reviews and actually traveled to go here. I was greeted immediately by the manager (I learned later), but their main entrance is in the back and no door on the main street. I was impressed with the decor and we were sat immediately. Great start. Then we were greeted. She didn't even introduce herself. We haven't even touched the menu and she asked if we were ready to order. No specials, drinks, or even a hello. I knew that I wanted wine so I replied with my drink order and said we didn't look yet. She dropped the wine off and asked again if we were ready to order. Feeling rushed, we did order. Entrees come with soup or salad, bread, coffee, and desert. That is awesome! However, the server did not mention soup and just asked about salad choices. She looked taken back when I asked about soup. I got the soup and it was beef stew. It was beef vegetable, but had stew meat in it and big chunks of potato. It wasn't too bad, but not a soup in my opinion. It was a large portion. She got a salad and it was a simple bag mix on a plate. Very common, but nothing special. The bread was a hoagie bun sliced. For an Italian restaurant to not have Italian bread is unacceptable. Furthermore, the bread had no Parmesan and olive oil to dip in. The meals came and we got two pasta dishes. Her's was in a garlic oil sauce with veggies and shrimp. I had a breaded chicken Marsala pasta. I asked for fresh parm, and she looked at me and said "like shredded?". I said yes and she brought me some preprocessed parm in a cup. No fresh Parmesan! Another Italian restaurant fail!! My dish was inedible. The sauce was a cream sauce and it tasted like plastic. I have never had a Marsala sauce be thicker than an Alfredo sauce. Of course I don't know for sure, but this tasted like canned Alfredo mixed with some Marsala sauce and it failed. I wanted to let our server know and ask her for napkin and after getting butter on it from the bread (remember no parm and oil), but she didn't come. My date was nearly finished with her meal and I couldn't eat mine or even wipe my hands. When she finally came, I mentioned that I didn't like it and she asked why. I said it tasted like Velveta and was terrible. Also. that I never had creamy Marsela and did not see it on the menu. She took it away and finally came back and said "I don't know why you didn't like it. Velveta is like cheddar cheese and that is not cheddar" After my jaw dropped by her ignorance, I asked her if she would like me to describe the processed plastic taste in a different way to explain why I didn't like it. Isn't "I didn't like it" enough? She then said the menu DOES say creamy marsala, and instead of debating her, I apologized for missing that on the menu and just asked for the manager. The manager, Mike, was great. He was apologetic and did not know what to do. I didn't want anything special, but he should know when bad service happens under his watch. He offered dessert (which the meal already comes with) and when we declined he said he would take "a little off". I am not sure what that meant because my date insisted on paying and would not let me touch the check. We did not take the coffee or dessert, but the server did come back and ask if we wanted it. She came reached over the table to take the check book before we got up. VERY unprofessional server! She cost Capri a repeat customer! Although I gave an extra star for the decor, soup size, and manager, I will not visit again when there are other options out there. Another Rockford disappointment!

Best pizza and Italian salad dressing (Capri Special) in the country and its all in downtown Rockford.

Fantastic pizza and specials daily. I've been going to this place since I was a little kid and it's gotten better. The new manager has upgraded everything from the bread to sauce - a great Rockford original :) You get ice cream and coffee included with most meal as well!

Hands down, the best traditional pizza in Rockford! The crust is amazing! The only downside is that they don't deliver, but it's well worth the drive to go pick it up. In a town where it's hard for a restaurant to make it long term, Capri has been around for decades because the food and the service are always good. It's more of a family restaurant than it is a date type place. Enjoy!

We've only been to Capri on time but what a time it was. We were greeted by the hostess with a big smile and immediately taken to our seats where she thanked us for coming in. Something you don't hear much any more. Our server was prompt introducing himself and the specials. I had the Eggplant Parmesan and it couldn't have been any better. The angel hair pasta was perfect and the eggplant crispy and delicious. The sauce was just right, not too sweet not too spicy. My partner had the lasagna and it was good, though, not as good as my eggplant. Capri had a very homey feel to it and even though it was our first time, we felt welcome. The Capri could certainly use a makeover, but that will never stop me from going back, it's the food and the service I go for, and both were great.

It wasn't bad, but being realistic; any rating more than 3 stars is not being truthful. I am generous with my reviews, and 3 stars is NOT a bad review, however its not 4.5 to 5 stars. It was an interesting place, service was great, the food was OK. I am saying that if you want to try it and are on the fence, you probably should. However don't go in and be disappointed by high reviews from people trying to beef up the rating of their family's hang out as I was. I do not think that many of the other reviews raving about the food or ambiance were truthful. I discussed this review prior to posting and was told that probably my issue is that I have eaten at some ridiculous places with outrageous food and they are rated 4.5 to 5 stars. This place shared that rating, unfairly.

My family has been coming here for yyyyeearrrs! Yes, I do mean years! This is probably one of the few places where I have no shame eating a whole darn pizza...yes, it is that damn good! It has just the right amount of cheese and the crust is soft but still crispy. Try the chicken paramesan too! Just the right amount of sauce, cheese, breading, and chicken so tender and juicy! My mouth is watering just writing this review ha! The portions are quite big so FYI come ready to eat. The place is a little dark inside for my liking, but hey we all look 10lbs slimmer in dim lighting? If you are in Rockford, then you must try this place. There's something for everybody and the prices won't kill your wallet.

I returned to Capri Pizza after a 30 year absent from Illinois.I dined here as a young adult. The service, food, and restaurant remains great service after a thirty year absences. The owners and workers are always helpful, professional, pleasant. The food is great! I usually get the pizza. It is awesome! Brings back great memories.

Food here is pretty good, reasonably priced, and consistent. Unfortunately, Capri misses the mark when it comes to service. After four or five visits, I have more often than not received cold service without a smile. Capri could improve the customer experience if they kept friendlier, warmer servers on staff.

Been coming to Capri since the mid 60's when the entrance was on East State. Vito and his brother had a small kitchen as you walked in on the left. They moved the entrance to the back to take advantage of the public parking lot. Same great pizza and hospitality today. Whenever I get back, they make me a couple pizzas to take back home on the plane with me. Love the pizza and other items including the house salad and salad dressing. Would like to drive over and pick one up now! YUM

I grew up in Rockford; but have moved away years ago. Whenever I come back to visit I stop by Capri's...! The pizza is the best ever. I have tried many other styles and places around the world and as the saying goes: There's no place like home! My family, friends & relatives who live there or in the area; always make a bee line to Capri's and I am so jealous because there is nothing that compares. All this talk about deep dish, etc... NO I love the old school feel and the way they have been making their food for years. This is a must have; don't pass this place up! And I wish someone would just fly a pizza out to me! I would be in heaven...! The Best Pizza ever...!!!

Amazing. I called at 9:05 pm. They close at 9. I asked what time they closed and when the young lady said they just had I expressed how sad I was for missing dinner. She asked what I would have ordered and when I said I just wanted a pizza, she did not even hesitate but said, "No problem." REALLY? That is so going beyond service I could have hugged her. Just got back with my yummy hot pizza....and am in heaven! Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing back mu faith in service! 2 thumbs up!

This place is very good . We went during the lunch hour and they have very good specials from pasta, calzones, soups and salads. We ordered the calzones and they were very delicious , very cheezy and full of meat with a great sauce. I would recommend ordering pizza because the crust is light and very tasty.

It was fine, but what makes the difference between 3 and 4 stars for me is always whether or not I feel compelled to visit again. And while I can't say that anything was blatantly wrong with my experience here, I've never felt any desire to eat here again. So I guess, for me, it's worth one visit, but maybe not more. Perhaps if I lived closer, I'd find myself wanting to return here, but I'm not sure...

I've gotta say - I'm a fan! Went here last week for lunch for a going away party for a co-workers. There were about 12 of us, so it was not an easy task for the restuarant or the staff. However, it was a flawless lunch! Salad, pizza & pasta were ordered ahead of time - so I didn't get to try anything besides those items, but that is ok with me because they were delicious! I dove right into the special salad & it was delicious! I love the vinegary salad dressing, fresh veggies & sausage on top. I probably could have eaten just this & been happy. But then the pizza & pasta arrived. Wow! The pizza was right out of the oven, so unfortunately the cheese was a little slippery but it didn't stop me. I had sausage & pepperoni & it was really tasty. I would have preferred some veggies, but since I didn't order - I didn't have a choice. The pasta was yummy. We had a mix of mostacolli, tortellini & ravioli. They were all really good, but what I loved the most was the spicy sauce! I was eating it by the fork full. Gross, I know. Anyway, I cannot wait to go back & try the different options they offer. I'm sure they will be equally as delicious! Oh & being able to order it for lunch at work is a major plus!

The pizza is very good. Thin, fairly light. cheese amount is good. Overall, a really nice option if you are in the area. The rest of the food is nothing special.

This is the best pizza I have had locally. Generous toppings and the mozzarella is delicious. Service is amazing, very welcoming, helpful and patient. We had a huge group and it went so much more smoothly than dining out with a group that large usually does.

Top Notch! We have lived a block away from Capri for the past 7 years. It's a normal weekly experience for us. They offer an amazing Italian menu. It's on the top of my list for a Pizza or Pasta fix. Dine in or out you get outstanding customer service. Never had a bad experience. They have been a stable for the downtown Rockford area!

I've been eating here since I was a little kid. I had many a first dates here. Had my rehearsal dinner here. I might even choose this for my last meal if I were to some reason be sentenced to the chair. Needless to say, I like Capri. The pizza is excellent, but it's hard for me not to get the chicken parmigiana and garlic bread w/ cheese and marinara sauce. Can't go wrong with the huge helping of lasagna and sausage either. On top of the great food, the decor and atmosphere are fantastic, and authentic Italian.

Capri has been one of my most favorite places to visit. My parents took us there when we were kids and I introduced my husband to this restaurant. It brings back wonderful memories every time I go downtown for pizza and salad. I have never been discouraged with the service or food. It's great to see them celebrate 50 years of service to the Rockford community. Congratulations!

This place will drive your taste buds crazy (in a good way). So my wife's family has been coming here since they laid the bricks down. According to them the quality of the food has remained top notch. I can tell you that you're in the heart of italian strong city, this restaurant is family owned and operated, and the food and atmosphere are very desirable. Again very family friendly. They have take-out as well. They are famous for their pizza pie here. I've eaten here on numerous occasions and every meal has satisfied me. Their lasagna is very good and the portions here are generous. This is the kind of place where it feels like you're having family over at your house for dinner so you have to get your fancy silverware out but feel comfortable at the same time. Talk about when you're here you're family? This place oughta be awarded that slogan! Everytime I come here I eat so much I have to unbuckle the belt. Its so good that I just can't help myself. Their desserts are tasty too. Spumatto I think is the name of the italian ice cream. OMG it is great. We always take pizzas to go on top of our meal. Just because we can :) and its so worth it.

Went here Saturday night with a big group to celebrate and it was PERFECT! Seriously, I've ate here several times before, but I always forget about this gem of a place when deciding where to go. Great atmosphere, awesome service, amazing selection, and yummy food! Italian is prolly my favorite type of food and they do it ALL right. The pastas, the breads, the pizzas, and oh the Italian beef--I'm getting hungry just thinking of it. Go here with a date or a group and you won't be disappointed!
