Great little place with a fresh lively feel. Very nice for family, friends, or romance. Great food and fun for all!

We visited here during a Cruise Night. First time eating here. It was also our first Cruise Night so the patio was a perfect spot for us to see everything going on. They let us have our 2 very small dogs with us under the table as well. The server was very nice and even brought out an ice water bowl for the dogs. The food was good, but nothing really special. My husband got the spinach artichoke sandwich and didn't really care for the dip on the sandwich. I got the caprese chicken sandwich. Would have been better without the chicken. It was a bit dry and the seasoning on the chicken didn't really mesh well with the caprese part. The fries were steak fries, not the parmesan fries that were mentioned in the menu. Like I said, overall it was good, but just didn't have me craving to come back for more.

This place was just okay. The stuffed chicken I had was dry and my friend said her pasta dish, that I believe had vodka sauce, was just okay. It's a really pretty place and I enjoyed the live piano music during dinner. The hostess was a little dippy. She asked us twice in a 5 minute span if we were still waiting for a table, while we stood right in front of her hostess stand waiting. Then asked if we wanted a table together. Um...what? It was kind of a bad first impression. Overall I don't think I have any desire to rush back. Maybe some time down the line I'll give it another try.

This is one of my husband and I's favorite places to eat! The atmosphere is relaxed, romantic, as well as hoppin. I have never had anything bad there. Their drinks are made so well too. If I had to recommend a MUST HAVE on the menu, it would be the oysters. They are TO DIE FOR. Seriously made to perfection and are served in this buttery herb sauce with grilled bread for dipping. Delish. Far and away my favorite. The staff is excellent as well. They are quick, attentive, respectful, and really know what they're talking about with the menu as well as the the drinks. And this restaurant is in such a cute little part of town. There's lots to do. Definitely a must try if you've never been here!

Well slap my biscuits with a stuffed ox and call me Suzanne. This place was great. We were on our way to rip nature asunder in order to better celebrate the Christmas season. One does not get into the holiday spirit without depriving a small woodland creature of a home, after all. And we decided that we were hungry and thanks to Yelp we decided to check this place out. Way to go Yelp. I had a stuffed burger which will make its way to my burgers I'd tip cows, flip cars and/or rip anything from a baby's hand for. I don't remember exactly what it was stuffed with, I can only assume that it was the hopes and dreams of orphans mixed with some unicorn farts, but it was soooooooooo damn good. We also had some kind of chicken sandwich that really stepped up. It had stuff on it and that stuff made it wicked awesome. If the food wasn't enough for ya, the beer selection would make any beer snob proud. They had some great choices and I may have had more than one. But the previous review mentioning blueberry beer wasn't wrong, you should do yourself a favor and try it. The place was small but comfortable and we were told that they were working on expanding. Which is cool.

My husband and I decided to try Hop Scotch and Vine for something new and the good reviews we had read. Bad decision !!! The food was inedible! I had the evenings special which was described as pork stuffed with artichokes and various other flavors. It was a hockey puck with less taste then I would imagine a hockey puck has! It tasted as though it had been cooked a few days prior and then microwaved a few days too long. I ate 2 bites! My husband had the steak medallions that was equally as insulting which he described as "road kill hidden under gravy". What's more and what's most insulting is, when it was discreetly brought to the servers attention, she apologized and offered to take 10% off the bill...really ???!!! A "supervisor" then came to the table, glibly acknowledged our lack of satisfaction, kind of apologized, and that was the end. No, offer of desert, cocktail or any reason whatsoever to return. Needless to say we will NOT return and are spreading the word to our friends where NOT to go in downtown Plainfield ! We went to Tap House to get real food. The only half way pleasant side of the experience was the server. She was kind.

The only reason they're getting 2 stars is because my food was good. 3 attempts at this place and had the slowest service ever each time. Absolutely horrible. The second time we were ignored for over 20 minutes. We never went during a busy time of day and the place wasn't busy when we were there. It was just servers standing around chatting and not paying attention. Really disappointed because I desperately wanted this place to be awesome. Won't be going back.

I was really looking forward to my date night at this place. When my boyfriend and I arrived we noticed that the patio was completely full so we walked inside to be seated. When we entered we were immediately confused on if we should seat ourselves or find a staff member. There is no host stand or any type of entrance for this place. We finally found a host who was running around like a chicken with her head cut off, but did apologize for not seating us right away (the inside was not packed). We finally were seated, but told that they were running low on menus so she will give us one when she can. (She was never seen again) We sat down and waited for about 5 minutes before a waitress stopped by and asked what we wanted to eat. We informed her that we were not given menus and she apologized because she did not know she had this table. Once we received our menus we ordered Bruschetta which was to my surprise pretty good. I ordered the white fish with baked potato and veggies and my boyfriend ordered the stuffed bacon and cheddar burger with fries. My fish was bland with frozen vegetables. My boyfriend's cheeseburger looked amazing, but lacked the cheddar and bacon that was supposedly "stuffed" inside. The couple next to use order chocolate fondue which looked amazing, but after my lackluster meal I was ready to leave this place. Overall the lack of organization and taste in their food really turned me off from this place. Hope they can turn it around!

I am so glad we found this place. I LOVE the staff, they make a mean dirty martini and an amazing steak sandwich. I see many visits in my future!!

Unfortunately, my husband and myself were not impressed. We ordered a bottle of cab to share. the waitress opened it at the table and immediately poured two full glasses. Being a "wine savvy" restaurant, one would assume that wine would be served differently (give it a chance to breath and allow a taste first). My husband had the grilled balsamic chicken and I had the tilapia with mango salsa. The chicken was tough, the vegetables were "out of a can" and the baked potato cold. All of which seemed reheated in the microwave. The tilapia was tasteless and the salsa was obviously out of a can, vegetables (same as above). I will say, the sweet potato was good. I usually never add salt or pepper to my food, but needed to in this case to choke it down. The ambiance of this restaurant is great. If we stop in again, we will either share an app and a glass of wine or just dessert. Very disappointed.

We were sat outside which was perfect. It was our first time at the restaurant and our server was great. She recommended a few different option. They have stuffed burgers with peanut butter and jelly!! I ended up ordering the stuffed Mac and cheese burger. The bun was FABULOUS. The burger was FABULOUS. My husband also got a stuffed burger. My dad got the meatloaf sandwich. He said it was a little over cooked but all in all delicious! We will be back for sure!

The good stuff first...very nice patio. That's it. So we ordered a bottle of wine. After an extremely long delay we were told they were out of that wine. We ordered another bottle. After another very long wait, sold out again. Something about the wine list changing every 2 weeks. We ordered another bottle and they actually had it! Waitress brought it out and struggled to open it. We ended up helping her. Usually they give you something to keep white wine cold but not this time. Waitress nowhere to be found. The hostess brought that to us. At this point things are getting comically bad. At least the waitress somewhat apologized. Ordered some appetizers which were just ok. Buffalo shrimp were simply shrimp smothered in Buffalo sauce. Not a lot of thought on the appie side of the menu. My advice- get the burgers which looked good and have beer or soft drinks. Whatever you do, don't order wine!

Sat down for lunch on Wednesday again at a new spot for me in Plainfield, Hopscotch and Vine. I have passed this place many times going to MoeJoes Cajun and have always wanted to stop in. It has solid reviews so I made it happen. It is in a killer corner spot in downtown Plainfield surrounded by some heavy hitters; Capri Sogno, MoeJoes and Wine & Cheese by TCc, sooooo expectations were high. We sat at about 12:15 and were warmly received by the hostess/waitresses that were waiting in the front of the store. The decor is very warm and kind of dark. We were walked around the the back dining area and decided it was just a little too dark for a light lunch and asked to be seated in the front by the window. Our waitress was very pleasant and she showed us the Ipad mini that contained a digital list of their wine and beer suggestion. Very modern! I can appreciate the value of a little frivolous spending to make an impression. Well done. No booze though, had to work in the afternoon. The menu was pleasantly unique. We opted for the fried stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer. B+. They were crispy and flavorful and the Asian chili sauce was a nice accompaniment to the shroom. For lunch we both went with the stuffed burgers. I had the bacon cheddar stuffed burger. B+ It was fresh juicy and tasted as it should. I just get annoyed when a burger is so tall that when you bite into it everything falls apart. Probably a personal problem but this is my personal review! Overall a good experience, I look forward to sitting for dinner and drinks one evening to really, truly experience Hopscotch! Give it a try you should be pleased!

My family, best friend and her family went there for Mother's Day. The atmosphere is inviting, and our food was great! The stuffed burger is a must try! The portion sizes are pretty large. Good beer selection as well. Definitely need to come back again and sample more!

This place is a great place for lunch or dinner. The food is delicious and the atmosphere in the dining room is warm and classy. Outside tables are available, weather permitting, Service is usually good. Our favorite server is Adrian. He is always attentive and able to answer any questions we had about the menu. If you are looking to dine downtown Plainfield, you should definitely check this place out.

So Overrated!!! Went to HopScotch & Vine based on Yelp reviews. The decor is fine and the service was ok. However, the food was just terrible. We ordered the "The Sheila" sweet and spicy chicken skewers on the recommendation of the server. This was the introduction to the general approach to food at this place: sugar!! It was wrapped in bacon - everything is great with bacon, right? Not!! The chicken was overcooked to the point of being squeaky. It was not spicy and very sweet. Ugh... For the entrees we ordered the Mahi Mahi and London Broil. I was worried about the amount of sugar, so I asked for the prep that goes with the Salmon - mustard based. Thank goodness that I asked for the sauce on the side. The Mahi Mahi was overcooked once again and the sauce was so cloyingly sweet. What I expected of the London Broil was a tasty marinade with a quick sear on the grill. Nope! They told me that they braise the meat and cannot be served medium rare because it is already medium. Ok?!? What we got was a grey and soft piece of beef with an Au Jus that tasted just like it came out of a Lipton Onion Soup packet. There are too many better restaurants around here to go back to this place...

Sat down at 5:30, left at 7:15 without having our meal. Kids food was brought out, server kept lying to us saying food would be out any minute. We cancelled our order and the manager didn't even try to keep us there so obviously food wasn't even being cooked. This was a Tuesday night so it wasn't a crazy night. I want to support a local place but it's just too hard given how awful the experience was. There were people who came in after we did ate and left before we even complained. Last time we go here.

Terrible Service My wife and I wanted to grab dinner after checking out the menu and outdoor seating. The food was really good and the drinks were not bad. After receiving our drinks and food our server Katy disappeared for 20 mins. It wasn't crowded and there were plenty servers on hand. After another 20 mins pass again, I simply tried to order drinks from the bar. At which I couldn't because the bartender refused to allow me to order two drinks at once, which I'm still unclear about. Maybe he thought they were just for me, which is still odd. I didn't seem intoxicated or slurred in my speech but nonetheless I explained we haven't seen our server in a long time and just wanted to order drinks. We finally received our drinks. Now was tough battle trying to get our new check. After asking another server to get our check, our server brings us bill and asks very politely "anything else I can get you?" She had great timing. My recommendation get your food to go...

Love to ride the bike or drive out to Plainfield and sit on the patio at Hopscotch & Vine. They serve great stuffed burgers from my favorite Butcher & Deli in Plainfield Tischler's Meat Market. The downtown Plainfield area is such a fun area to relax & dine in or outside. Servers are friendly, and drinks are great as well.

Was traveling for work and my fiancé got to travel with me. We don't like eating at chain restaurants so we always find local places we can't eat at home. This was a quick drive from Joliet. The atmosphere was good, although definitely an adult only environment (which was fine for us). I tried two of their Martinis as they are supposed to be known for them: Pineapple Rightside Up Cake (YUM!!!!) and a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives (haven't had one that good in awhile). For appetizer we tried the bruschetta, which was very good but nothing out of the ordinary. The dinners were great and what really did it for us: I had the Drunken Mussels which was just delicious. It was so good, I didn't want it to end even though I was full. And it they do not give you a small or slight portions of mussels, large size that I could spread throughout my whole pasta bowl. My fiancé had the Maplewood Chicken. It was very delicious! That chicken (I tried a bite) is something we've never had in all our travels and will definitely try to replicate at home. Also, our server Justin was a great kid, gave us good recommendations, very polite and answered lots of questions we had as first time guests. Would definitely make this a regular joint if we lived in the area.

Great service and even better food! I recommend making a reservation so you're guaranteed to not have to wait, as with all fantastic restaurants it gets busy. My boyfriend and I ate here he had a stuffed burger which he said was amazing I had the French dip sandwich which was to die for also the burschetta was incredible!! We will 100% be back again

Loved this place. Took the wife here for a post anniversary dinner with our 3 yr old and had a blast. Food and Service was great. Had a Gentleman playing classics on the Piano - there from Wed-Sat every week. Great crowd great food. We will definitely be back. Food price was very decent too, considering everything on the menu is organic, grass fed, or cage free.

I called before we arrived, I wasn't sure if there was a kids menu. There is and my toddler enjoyed her macaroni and cheese. My hubby and I each tried a stuffed burger, both were very good. The sides were traditional with a modern twist, we liked (steak fries with Parmesan and cole slaw with an Italian/Asian dressing). I ordered the house made white Sangria, yum! For a treat we tried the PB chocolate fondue, which came with green apples, bananas, soft pretzel, marshmallow, and rice krispy treat dippers. Great and thank you, Julie, for being so attentive! One more thing, they buy their produce from Peter Rubi and meat from Tischler's - we love to see local businesses supporting each other.

The menu options are great and the food was delicious. My only complaint is that it could have been a bit cleaner when we visited. The plates looked smudgy, the menu was a bit grimy, and the table could have used a wipe down. Our waitress was super friendly. We will definitely go back.

Order their stuffed mushroom appetizer. I loved it...and I hate mushrooms. Martinis are perfect. iPad at every table. Very classy with fireplace like decorations that are neat. They sell little items that are wine themed. Burgers are good. Chicken sandwich was ok. Service was top notch and the place was completely full when we were there. Desert was very large. We had carrot cake and loved it.

Me and my mom decided to stop in for dinner here. It was a beautiful day out so we asked to be seated outside. The hostess gave us our drink menu (Wednesday is half price wine by the glass for glasses $9 and under). It took longer than expected for a waitress to come by and take our drink order and we still had not received food menus. Once we got our menu we decided to order the bavarian pretzels as an appetizer. They were good, but I've had better at a few different places, and they charge you extra if you want mustard AND cheese. My mom ordered the spinach salad with shrimp and I ordered the mahi mahi with sides of mashed potatoes and asparagus (asparagus was $1 extra). There were a lot of things on the menu that looked delicious, in particular the spinach artichoke penne and all the stuffed burgers. I'll have to come back. Once again, it took much longer expected for our food to come out. Our server kept coming by and saying food should be out soon, but it didn't. My mom liked the spinach salad, however they are kind of stingy on the amount of shrimp. Maggiano's does it better. My mahi mahi was good. Mashed potatoes and asparagus were good as well. The portion didn't seem worth the 20 bucks though. All in all I would have given this place 4 stars for the food, but I took off 1 star for the slow service and high price point.

So my wife and I had the chance to go out the other night and we ended up here. We went in and the hostess was great, sat us right a way. We looked over the menu and put in an appetizer order of the stuffed mushrooms. We got our drinks, and had to wait about 15 minutes for the mushrooms. When we got the mushrooms they were great! Hot and a ton of flavor!! I ordered the clam po boy with the Parmesan fries and cucumber salad and my wife got the tilapia with asparagus and sweet potato. We waited 40 minutes after our appetizer came out and when we got our food both were over cooked. The clams were way over fried and the fish was dry. We were both really disappointed with our meal. I would go back and give them a second chance, probably order a burger because all of them looked so good when they were coming out of the kitchen. Over all a bad first impression.

Waitress said she never tried two of the three things I ask about. I settled for a stuffed hamburger with blue cheese & garlic medium well. Where was the blue? Skimpy. No seasoning whatsoever. Used ketchup on my half raw burger. Sides were nice. Waited 10 minutes for desert before! Oops!! They were out. She asked me if I wanted a replacement, which, at the same time, we both said, ALDI!! This was our early Valentines dinner. Later, we went to Another place for a desert. So pathetic

Love this place especially for a girls chat night. Martini's and appetizers are wonderful. Went for dinner with the hubby once, did not care for the price of the steak vs. the size a bit pricey. Otherwise, no complaints.

Food is very good and service is always on point. Sitting outside in the summer is great people watching. I suggest the stuffed burger or the goat cheese flatbread. Good wine selection too. I go back every chance I get.

I liked it. On Monday's it is half price bottles of wine. What is not to like about that. The service was really good and the place is a decorated well. The food was nothing out of this world but for a nice little place in downtown Plainfield it is great. I will be going back there.

I've been in here a few times for drinks, but this is the first time I've had dinner. They have expanded and have added a well appointed dining area. Our server was cheerful and really a lot of fun. We tried a few different appetizers, the baked Brie was my favorite, but the hummus and goat cheese were quite tasty as well. They have a nice selection of martinis and I had to try a few! Before dinner, after dinner and again today... Ooops wrong review... I digress. I had Salmon Dijon and it was delicious. We stayed for a few hours taking our time enjoying our meals. They serve generous portions and the food is nicely plated. For dessert, they serve a peanut butter chocolate fondue that was the perfect end to our dining experience.

Was driving through Plainfield for the first time. We saw this place and stopped. The interior was beautiful. We were immediately greeted and seated. Caitlyn was our waitress. She was so sweet. I had the maple chicken . my wife had the rib eye. The chicken was absolutely wonderful and my wife was very happy with her steak. The wine selection was much better than expected and we both ordered by the glass and shared. What a wonderful little place. I will probably never get there again. However, if we go back by we will definitely stop. BTW. We normally don't write reviews on here but caitlyn was so nice and the food was so good we had to.

I really had high hopes for this place. Considering what we paid I really expected much better. We got the loaded potato skins ($7.95) for an appetizer and they were ok , nothing spectacular. I got the spinach shrimp salad ( $14.95) and while the dressing was pretty good it was literally a giant bowl of dry spinach with 5 tiny shrimp on top with a little bit of red peppers. SO after a few bites I was eating plain bland spinach.(Add more shrimp or toppings!)My husband ordered the jalapeno popper burger ($11.95) it tasted pretty good but it was kind of greasy. Then we ordered dessert at the time they were featuring a pumpkin cheesecake. It was a tiny little sliver and very dry. I don't recommend this place for the price tag. The only thing I truly enjoyed here was the wine :(

My wife and I have eaten here several times, and the experience just keeps getting better. They continue to add to an already stellar menu, both food and wine, and the atmosphere is very cozy and friendly. This is a must see location in downtown Plainfield.

We just got a few drinks and pretzel sticks. So this is just a placeholder review, but it seemed like a nice place and we'd like to come back for a real meal. The beer selection was very good, though I don't think much was on tap. The pretzel sticks were good too, though I don't recommend the beer cheese dip.

What can I say? I was pleasantly surprised by the nice atmosphere, friendly staff and odd but tasty food. I got myself the steak sandwich, which caught me off guard at first because it's an open sandwich (no top bun) but it was wonderful. I asked for the steak fries to be extra crispy and they delivered. Their crispy coleslaw was indeed as its name suggests. Over all I had a very good experience here. Adrian (my server) was nice and quick. The bar staff answered questions I had about their menu as well. I will definitely come back some time some time in the future. It's nice to have outdoor seating for eating. Paired with the food here, it's a win.

Ate here for the first time today with three friends. Seated promptly and were served our raspberry ice tea quickly. I ordered the pot roast sandwich with garlic potato wedges and cucumber salad. Pot roast sandwich was very good. It was served hot which I really like. Cucumber salad was not too sweet nor too sour. Potatoes were tasty but a little too crispy for wedges. Everyone liked their food choice of pot roast sandwich, portobello sandwich and caprese chicken sandwich. Good service and good food.

Went back again a week after my first review. Again, same problems. The food was delicious. I had the pot roast sandwich again, as well as a cup of potato soup and it was great. However, the service just left something to be desired. We were one of 2 tables in the main dining room and our waitress hardly came by the table. We had a different waitress this time, and she was friendly, but not attentive at all. I probably will be back since the food is good, but I will have to make sure to leave a lot of time when I eat there since everything takes awhile.

I've eaten here twice for lunch and once for drinks. Servers were friendly all 3 times. We sat outside and since there were empty tables, we stayed and talked quite a long time without anyone bothering us. I was disappointed that the black bean burger was removed from the menu making the selection for vegetarians a little harder. (but I'm used to this!) The food was fresh and tasted delicious. Wow, the reviews seem to be all over the place. It may depend on who's cooking and who waits on you. I hope the owners get some stability in these areas. It's a wonderful addition to downtown Plainfield and I hope it will be around for a long time.

I stopped in for a glass of wine with my boyfriend on a Friday night. He was given a sample of a wine he was interested in while I finished reading the wine menu. That took all of about 90 seconds. 15 minutes later the bartender was still making martinis at a snail's pace at the other end of the bar. She never once said, "I'll be with you shortly." or anything of the sort. My boyfriend flagged her down at some point and told her that we were ready but she was still making the same drinks for another party. Mind you it was not busy at all in here. There was the one other group of four at the bar and a few tables eating food. Exactly why does it take 15 minutes to make 4 drinks? Anyway, we left without any drinks and went across the street to Capri Sogno where I was served immediately with a great Syrah. I will probably visit Hop Scotch and Vine again, but will look for a different bartender.

One night a friend and I came here...but they were closing early...which was super annoying. We decided to give it a go again a few weeks later...oh my am I glad that we did! I loved the beer selections that they had...I tasted my first blueberry beer which was fantastic and nomnomnomed on a delicious jalapeño popper burger!!! We also ordered buffalo mozzarella sticks which were out of sight! I never had anything like it! I also do the majority of my food shopping at Peter Rubi and Tischlers so I was excited that they advertised using their produce! All in all I would definitely stop here again...and maybe bring a new friend next time!

Hold on a sec, my blueberry beer buzz is still wearing off... Ok, this place is adorable! It's cozy, it's romantic, it's chic and classy. My husband and I just had "date night" here. Started with the buffalo blue cheese sticks - holy mouth-fulla cheese! They were crunchy and super melty, and everything cheese stick lover like me needs. I had the blueberry beer. I'm a fan of fruity ciders and lighter beers, I'd come back just to have a few drinks! He had the blanche de somethingFrench. It tasted like a good beer should. Not a beer expert, but their selection is perfect! I had the chicken caprese sandwich and he had the bleu cheese/bacon burger. We were both very happy with our food. I also liked the fresh cucumber salad on the side. Service was great. When we walked in, we were greeted and seated immediately (okay so we were the ONLY table at that time - just beofre 6pm on a Thursday), but by the time we left, just after 7pm, the place was full. If you live in/near Plainfield, there's no reason you shouldn't check this place out! We spent about $60 on an appetizer, 4 beers and 2 entrees.

I usually hit this place for lunch, and it is not that busy, so I get good service. The food is very good with a different variety of foods that you usually don't see at a standard restaurant. The menu is not huge, but I like what I get so that doesn't bother me, and it does occasionally change. You can look at the menu online on their website, although it may not be up to date. Family owned, with family members working there. I always have a good experience that's why I keep coming back. I have seen that it gets very crowded on weekends and when the warm weather hits, so expect it to take longer to get your food. However being crowded should be your clue that it's good, so enjoy.

Through the use of delicious food, excellent service, and beautiful decorations, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an enjoyable time. I recently came in to watch a game at the bar. I found an excellent beer selection. None on tap but still an excellent selection. I'm not one who you will find sipping wine, but from the looks of it, they have a good variety of great wine. Burgers are amazing. The bartender Marlene was very knowledgable with the beers and wines. She was friendly and i will be back not only for the awesome food and beer but because of the great service she provided me with. Not to mention she's drop dead gorgeous. I tip my hats to the owners, they clearly know what's up.

Had another great experience. Service was excellent. Our server Russ was extremely attentive, provided great service and made sure everything was just perfect. Our stuffed burgers were cooked perfectly to order and our shared wedge salad came to us already split on separate plates. Based on the food and service this had become our favorite plainfield restaurant. Do yourself a favor and try them out!

I really wouldn't waste your time going there. head to front street, moejoes, wine and cheese, tap house. really anywhere close is better. we had horrible appetizers, once gave it another try with a so-so dinner. They need a menu redo.. with food made by a chef, with fresh ingredients.. with some taste.---to plain, basic, and frozen. go elsewhere.

Great menu and service every time. Our new favorite local restaurant. The variety of menu options and fresh soups keep this place fresh every visit.

Great food located in downtown Plainfield. Choose to sit outside or in. Extensive beer menu for those who like to enjoy a good IPA such as Dogfish Head 60 minute (my personal favorite). I definitely recommend giving Hopscotch, and Vine a night out.

Definitely one of the best (if not the best) family owned restaurants I've ever been to. The food, atmosphere, and staff were great! Definitely recommend the pasta salad and stuffed mushrooms. The bar in itself was a nice touch. Definitely can't wait to come back!

Came here for dinner and drinks, ended up sitting at the bar, which became the downfall of the experience. The bartender, a redheaded woman was very inattentive. Sitting right in front of her, on a pretty slow night, still took forever to order a refill. Ordered food and after it came, not once did she ask us if we needed anything/ how the meal was. She also was incredibly rude to other servers, right in front of customers, which was completely unprofessional. The food was okay, but with service like this it is unlikely I will return. A shame.

Went here for dinner last night. We were seated promptly and they told us it was half price bottles of wine night which was great and we got to take whatever wine was left home! My husband ordered the dry aged strip steak, which he said was amazing and Cooked perfectly! He's really picky about his steak and he was impressed. I had the special of the night with was chorizo encrusted tilapia and it was really good not too fishy or anything. Oh and I can't forget the spinach dip which came out very fresh and hot! My only complaint was that it came with chips I like it better with bread. We were originally going to get the baked Brie but they were out. All in all we had a great dinner and it was very reasonably priced especially for having wine and desert! I will defiantly be going back when it warms up to eat out on the patio. Oh and I can't forget that the service was really good too!

Went there on a Friday night had Liz as a server knew the menu very well and recommended the cupcake di Asti moscato and loved it! She was very knowledgeable about her wine an food. Would absolutely go back and ask for her. Great atmosphere!

Cute neighborhood gem. Romantic. My fiancé and I went there and had the baked Brie and Apple appetizer... Amazing! I had the vegetable wrap which was fantastic. Fiancé had the filet and he thought it was good. The wine selection is good and there are some creative martini selections.

It's a wonderful place and I can't say a bad word about it. It's small, intimate and very comfortable. The bar itself is beautiful with an excellent selection of beer, spirits (excellent pours) and a very good wine list. The food was pretty awesome. We had the baked haddock and the chicken caprese sandwich. Both were outstanding. The owners are very, very friendly. I was told that Wednesday is 1/2 price wine by the glass night, which I'll certainly be back for. This is the kind of place that can really succeed in Plainfield and it's the kind of place that deserves your business. I strongly recommend this place to anyone

We tried Hop Scotch and Vine on recommendation of a friend of my wife's. We've passed the place a hundred times going downtown Plainfield, but never really went there for whatever reason. The decor in the bar area is pretty cool, however the bar itself is kind of small. For a place that calls themselves Hop Scotch and Vine (Implying Beer, Spirit, and Wine) I was really shocked to find not one beer tap - no draft beer. I'm not saying you have to have a wall of taps, but really at least one or two decent beers on tap would probably serve a place like this well. For early October, we had a gorgeous night and we decided to sit out outdoor on the sidewalk patio. Seating outside is ample and I thought the chairs were comfortable for metal chairs. The beer menu has a pretty decent selection of beers from most of the major styles - IPA, Brown Ale, Pale Lager, classic domesetics, Stouts, etc.. but all are in bottles. Prices weren't terribly out of line either, with an average of around $5/bottle. The food menu is pretty predictable - a page of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, a few seafood dishes, two steak choices, and a few dessert items. I found it to be "bar" type food with a few dishes that elevated above bar level. We forewent an appetizer and went straight for entrees. I had the stuffed bacon cheeseburger with parmesan fries and cucumber salad, and my wife ordered the New York Strip, cooked to medium, with green beans and a baked potato. Our food took a while to come. Not too terribly long, just a little longer than I would have expected. My burger was presented nicely on a rectangular plate with the burger in the center of the two sides. My wife's steak was of typical presentation - round plate, steak, potato, side. My burger was cooked to order - well, and was pretty juicy still for a well done burger. However, the "Stuffed" portion of this burger probably only barely met any legal definition of "Stuffed". There was hardly any stuffing, and I mean hardly ANY. There was no visible cheese or any cheese to be tasted, and the bacon was only notable as a few pieces could be seen, but had barely any notable flavor. The parmesan fries were basically just steak fries. I tasted or saw no parmesan on them whatsoever. My wife's steak is an entirely different story. First, the steak that came out looked like the rib eye instead of the NY Strip. The steak that did come out was cooked past well done, absolutely NO pink inside. We flagged down our server and she apologized and told my wife to keep her food in front of her and they would cook another steak. A few minutes later a more proper looking New York strip came out. Due to the light outside, it was difficult to see the degree of doneness in this steak, but she cut it open and saw pink and deemed it a little rare, but better than the last one so the server left. Once she cut the steak in half, the steak it was not only raw, but it was cold. Not like room temperature cold, we're talking refrigerator cold. We once again flagged down the server and had her take a deeper look at it and she then took this steak back and they gave it a few more minutes on the grill. At this point, the frustration level is building. My wife also asked that this time they bring some A1 sauce, as it was evident that this steak was going to need all the help it could get. Note that by this time I am pretty much finished with my burger. A few minutes later the steak comes back, in two pieces and was somewhere in the neighborhood of medium in places to medium well in others. The server apologized again, left the A1 and left us to our meal. My wife poured the sauce out of the A1 bottle and noticed that it was a little redder than expected, and thicker as well. We both tasted it and instantly said the same thing - barbecue sauce! It was plainly apparent that the bottle had not only been refilled, but refilled with the wrong sauce entirely! At this point my wife had had it and basically refused to eat her steak. We flagged the server down, explained the situation with the sauce and she swore up and down that they don't refill bottles for approximately three minutes. If not, how did barbecue sauce get in the bottle? We politely asked to pay for the potato and green beans, but remove the steak from the bill. A few minutes later the server and a manger came out and presented us with our bill, apologized profusely for a few minutes, explained that they tasted the "A1" back in the kitchen, deemed something wrong with it and "immediately threw it away." At that point, the apologizing was making the whole situation awkward. They took the steak off the bill and gave us a $20 gift card to come back. I told my wife we should just leave it, but she took it. I'm sure we'll end up giving it to someone. In summary: Stuffed burger had no stuffing, steak cooked 3 times and still not right, and barbecue sauce in A1 bottle. I can't give 0 stars, so 1 it is. 0/10 - would not return.

Excellent! You probably want more details than that though, huh? How 'bout this...I stopped here yesterday with a friend for a late lunch/early dinner and was greeted with smiles from the staff the minute we stepped through the door. Being an odd hour, we were the only ones in the place and since it was my first time here, I was a little skeptical. "If this is a good place, why aren't there more patrons here?" But not to worry...my fears were quickly extinguished. We were seated and the waitress took our drink order. They're very proud of their specialty beer stock so she asked me what type of beer I like and made a suggestion. Turns out she brought me the Nitro Stout and I LOVED it. So much so that I'd seek this out next time I head to Binny's, for sure. Anyway, we were both in the mood for burgers and their menu is chock full of Gourmet Stuffed selections, each one sounding better than the last. I opted for the Germainese (SP?) and Cheddar burger which was delicious...a little spicy, but delicious. I'd say I'd order it again, but there are too many others that sound too good to miss, so we'll see. Good Location. Good staff. Good drinks and good food. Check it out!

Just returned home from dining at this restaurant. I had high expectations for this place, especially after seeing the prices on the menu. I'll start with the $5 per glass Homemade Sangria, it tasted like watered down Boone's Farm. The food was far from good. They served burgers with no lettuce or tomato on grocery store buns, frozen steak fries and some concoction they were calling "coleslaw". I honestly wanted to come home and stick my finger down my throat and expel this awful meal from my body. Will not return there.

We have been here twice now and love it! The service has always been great, and they have half price wine on Wednesdays and also a great beer selection. The chicken caprese sandwich is my favorite- juicy and great flavor with a touch of balsamic. My husband also loves the burgers and pot roast sandwich. We especially like how their food all comes from local markets. The atmosphere is also very cute and modern. This is our new favorite local spot!

I'd love to tell you about this restaurant. Unfortunately my wife and I left after 15 minutes of sitting at our table without even a drink order taken. We NEVER leave a restaurant, no matter how poor the service. We watched 3-4 servers at any given time stand near the hostess/bar and talk. We stared right at them. Not even a "I'll be right with you, I'm swamped". If we had that response we would have stayed. After that debacle we went to the Tap House a little further west down Lockport. We were seated immediately, drink orders taken in the first two minutes, and served within 3 minutes. Nothing spectacular, but it met our expectations. They even had a pretty full house from what I could tell. I was really looking outward to having a positive experience here. Especially since Mo Jo's couldn't even get a baked potato right. Unfortunately the service is extremely poor. It won't e long before they are a thing of the past. Just hope they replace them with someone who understands the basics.

3 Stars is A-Ok, which exactly what Hop Scotch & Vine is...A OK. Service...well, the guy (Brandon?) just didn't know what he was doing. He tried hard, and I'll give him an A for Effort. 30 minutes after ordering appetizers, he came out to say they will take 20 minutes instead of the usual 15, because of an over problem. My reply was 'no worries' and then said......'you know it's already been over 20 minutes". We let it slide. Food was Good, better than average. Salmon was GREAT. Service.....well, don't expect much and just enjoy the food. Limited menu.......but we will return. 3 Stars is a GOOD Rating.

Service was just okay. Server had somewhat of an attitude and seemed like she didn't want to be there. Wings were frozen and weren't cooked all the way. Opted for pennena a LA vodka. Sauce tasted frozen and plasticy like it had been sitting there for weeks. Pasta was overcooked. Got a skimpy glass of red wine. Wife had a martini that tasted like it was from a divebar. Wife's steak was burned on top and bottom and red in the middle.. She ordered it medium. Her vegetables were obviously frozen and we found that strange because the menu specifically stated they get ALL the produce fresh from peter rubis market..her Parmesan steak fries were also frozen and had no visible Parmesan on them. My coke tasted very strange.. No carbonation and an odd flavor.. This establishment needs far better food quality and a more honest menu. Servers who didn't look miserable would also help. I will say it was quite dead for a Friday night so that could have contributed, but at least be mmoderately enthused about the table you did have. Will not return.

They're expanding! This place needed some more space, and I'm glad they have the business to expand because they really have good food and service. Try the stuffed burgers...Amazing! They do wine tastings too and last time I was there, their bar showed off thousands of flavors of vodka!! (Okay, not 1,000, but a lot.) Prices are fair and location is nice with a outdoor seating corner lot in downtown Plainfield!

We were there for a birthday dinner for my Mom. Every time a drink was ordered, it took about 20 minutes for us to get it, and then they were either wrong or gross. The menu is very weak. Towards the end of our dinner, they put on a tv show because someone on it was related or something like that to the owner. The show was not appropriate for a restaurant. I understand that there is a bar side, but it was not appropriate even for a bar. We will definitely not be going there again.

Had an early anniversary dinner on a Friday night. There were only a handful of people but it took 15 minutes for us to be greeted and have our drink order taken. Picky I know but not a good first impression. Burger and chicken sandwhich were good but nothing special. $40 for a couple drinks and dinner. I won't be in a hurry to go back, not a bad experience but nothing to great or special either.

I was really impressed with this little bar. A great beer menu that we sampled from prior to the Midwest Brewfest this past weekend. The interior was very nice, and it had a nice small bar to sit at as well. The chicken caprese sandwich was great, and the fruit was very fresh.

After not seeing a friend in over a year, we decided to check this place out. BIG MISTAKE....I checked out the menu ahead of time online because I have several dietary restrictions only to find out when I got there that the menu online is outdated. I order my first martini (apple pie), waited at least 1/2 hr to get a glass of milk and cinnamon...disgusting! in total, we were there for 3 HOURS because of extremely slow service, i heard all of the staff claiming "the bar is a little backed up right now" as many patrons complained about not receiving their drinks. Another table complained about being there for 15 minutes with no service. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, which was filled with huge chunks of fat pieces and hardly any cheese, and was burnt on the bottom. Neither of us received our second side with our entrees and it took at lease 1/2 hour each time we ordered a drink to actually receive it. Lastly, if you have dietary restrictions, I wouldn't recommend this place as their menu doesn't match exactly what they list. We thought the artichoke dip served with tortilla chips would be safe but according to the waitress, they don't actually serve them with tortilla chips....hmmmm.... And CHECK YOUR BILL...I was charged for that disgusting 1st drink I mentioned even though I only took a few sips!

This place is excellent. Good food (however we have only eat the appz), great drinks, strong martini's. As other's have said, great date night or a few drinks with good music. Very friendly staff. Nice addition to downtown area.

I ate there the other day with my family. My food wasn't the best. I had a fish sandwich, it was pretty hard. But I tried everyone else's food and it was outstanding. I will definitely eat there again. I just won't get the fish sandwich. The pretzel rolls were awesome.

When last visiting my Mom in Joliet we decided to shake things up and head to Plainfield for a late lunch. After strolling the down Lockport Street we decided on HopScotch and Vine, which proved to be a good decision. Everyone was friendly and the patrons at the bar appeared to be having a great time. The server was attentive and offered good suggestions when we had trouble deciding on which items to order. We started with the stuffed mushrooms--delicious. Not at all what I expected. They were deep fried in a delicious batter, filled with whole mushrooms and a cheese sauce and served with a spicy chili sauce on the side. We shared our lunch items-- a stuffed mushroom/swiss burger (burger from Tischler's) and the chicken bruschetta sandwich. The burger was well seasoned, cooked to my preference and stuffed with the perfect amount of ingredients. The chicken sandwich was fresh and flavorful. Both were served with parmesan fries, a step up from a regular side of fries. The space is a little small which will be nice and cozy for fall/winter, and there is outdoor seating which will allow for an expanded crowd in the spring/summer. I will definitely dine here again. Cheers to supporting local business!

I love this place. Small and cozy but yet the food is much tastier than a large restaurant. The lighted bar is a nice touch and the staff are always super friendly. I cannot say enough about the Chicken Skewers or the Baked Haddock. How they make so many delicious dishes in that tiny kitchen I have no idea. That being said, the last time my wife and I went during a nice weather stretch the kitchen did get backed up, so I highly suggest putting your order in pronto when it gets crowded, but then again sitting and waiting for our food in the beautiful weather on their outdoor patio gave us more time for that ever important 2nd drink. Hard to complain :) The owners are local to Plainfield and seem to know most of the patrons by name. We were told by our waitress that the majority of the food is purchased over at Tischler's market, so it is fresh and of high quality. I personally enjoyed our post meal drink at the bar while watching the end of the NBA game.....so in short, this place has a little bit of something for everyone.

Nice place, good food and quick service. We went there on a Tuesday when the car show was happening. The place was packed! We got our food in less the 15 minutes. They claim to have the best burger in Plainfield. It was good but I am not sure it can take that title.
