This place seems to write all of their own reviews for their restaurant on Urbanspoon. Yelp doesn't allow owners to do that, here is a real review of PVII. I would have given this place 2 stars if the owner (Amy) hadn't sent my mother a very rude email about her review on Urbanspoon. From the minute we walked into the door at PVII we had a bad experience. The hostess was extremely rude and ignored my mom when she said hello to her. While we waited, possible customers came in and asked to see a menu and without even looking at them, the hostess shoved a menu in their direction. We had a 7:30 reservation, but were told to wait at the bar until our table was ready. We went to the bar and ordered a bottle of wine. While the wine was inexpensive, there was not a variety of wines by the bottle ($8 in stores $24 at PV11). We enjoyed our choice and were seated shortly thereafter. For our appetizer we ordered the calamari as soon as our waitress came over, and then she disappeared until our appetizer was ready. The portion of calamari was laughable compared to the huge bowl of marinara and huge tongs on the plate. The calamari was soggy and extremely chewy. A while after our appetizer our waitress took our dinner orders. Our salads came out quickly and then we waited a solid hour for our entrees to come out. Our reservation had been for 7:30 and our entrees came out at 9:30. Our meals were so disappointing. My mom had the shrimp and scallops and there was no flavor to the dish. I am not even sure if it had any seasoning, sauce or basil as it had described on the menu. The scallops were those little baby scallops. I have never seen those served in a restaurant. There was only one piece of asparagus in entree as well. Embarrassing! My sister had the pesto and chicken. Pesto is usually an olive oil base, but this was swimming in a thick cream with a little pesto mixed in. I had a spinach and pink sauce pasta. It was good, not good enough to wait two hours for. When our waitress asked us how our meal was we said it was disappointing and she didn't really seem to know how to address our disappointment. There was no manager or chef checking to make sure people were satisfied with their meals, as we were not. We followed up a few days later by talking to the chef and told him about our experience. This restaurant reminded me of one of those failing restaurants on the show Restaurant Nightmares. I kept waiting for Gordon Ramsey to come out of the kitchen yelling "Are you f*cking kidding me?!" If you love waiting and cream sauces this place is for you, personally, I would never go back to PV II

Went for the first time without any expectations, and it was just alright. I substituted the salad for lobster bisque, and couldn't even finish half of it because it was just too buttery. It could have used a lot more lobster, and a lot less butter/cream. My entree was the mushroom and cheese ravioli in their pink sauce, and it was pretty tasty, but could be a tad less creamy. The portion size was just right- although it may be too small if you have a large appetite. My husband got the duck pasta, and it was pretty good. Generous portion size, with a good amount of mushrooms and duck, but a bit too oily. Overall, the food was fine, but we left feeling greasy and unhealthy, like we had just eaten half a stick of butter. Maybe it's just the dishes we tried, but I don't know if I'll be going back.

Our party of four had four spectacular meals last night at PV II. We had calamari for a starter which was cooked to perfection, tender with just the right crunch from the light breading. One order was plenty for four people. Two of us had the chicken Rollatini served with linguini in a divine mushroom cream sauce. I could only finish half, but I look forward to the left-over for lunch. One of us had Sea Scallops, and again was happy to take half home. The last of us had Chicken and Sausage, but it was gone so fast that I never got a sample. I did get a sample of his vidalia salad dressing and my own bleu cheese dressing served on large, crisp salads. The service was perfection too. Our waitress was quite attentive without being obtrusive. This place is head and shoulders over Biaggi's on all counts, including price. The only thing I might have wanted was good olive oil to dip the rolls in, but then I hadn't thought to ask.

The food was fantastic once again. The Spinach Rotola and the Chicken Rollatini are absolutely spectacular. They are available together in a dish called Ro DeBernardi. My wife and I have been coming here for years just for this dish. They have a new menu that looks fantastic, but we could not pull ourselves away from ordering our old favorite. As I said, we've been going here for years and the service and attentiveness of the wait staff has been less than stellar to say the least. we have gritted our teath through the service to get to the awesome food. But this time we had a server we'd never had before named Danny. He was awesome! He interacted warmly with my family. He was very attentive without being intrusive. He was always there at the right times. With this kind of service and the consistently good food, we'll be dining here even more frequently. And we don't even live in Peoria.

The food was very good, although certainly very rich - I could actually taste the butter in the soup, it was a bit much. Prices were reasonable for a "nice" dinner, and I really liked that they did not have the tables crammed in close together. Service was a bit lacking - it wasn't bad, just not very attentive. Drinks ran out and there was a wait to get them re-filled, slow to come take our order, that sort of thing. I would go there again, but probably not at a busy prime time.

I got an email from PJStar Daily Deals offering at PVII Restaurant: Purchase a $20 voucher for fine Italian Dining for only $10 (Mon. - Thurs. Dinner only) (in large, colored, bold print) I purchased a voucher. I was going to meet a friend for dinner, so I told him about the deal. He also purchased a voucher. We had a nice dinner at PVII. The food was good; the service was ok. When we were paying our separate checks, we were told that only one of us could use the voucher because there is small print at the bottom of the voucher that reads, "One per table." The server was not at all accommodating. (I wonder what would have happened had we sat at the bar or at adjacent separate tables.) My friend used his voucher. I paid my full bill. The next day, I sent an email to PJStar Daily Deals explaining the situation and requesting a credit/refund for my voucher since I couldn't use it and I was now turned off to PVII and didn't want to return. I received a terse reply saying that they cannot offer a credit or refund because of the "One per table" restriction. I am now turned off to PJStar Daily Deals as well. Buyer Beware. No "Customer First" policies here.

Personally, I didn't mind the wait for my food. There was plenty of (Thursday special half off) wine to be drank, plenty of bread to dip in the olive oil & Parm cheese and plenty of time to spend with my handsome dining companion. Unlike some places where you feel rushed out the door so someone else can take your table, there was no rushing going on here. Even the servers seemed laid-back and relaxed, not hovering over the table to whisk away a dish the moment the last bite is taken. One of my major pet peeves: setting the check down in exchange for removing the plates -did NOT happen here! I want to be pampered and asked if I want coffee or a cognac or a dessert..... or all three! :) I don't want to feel like I have become a burden taking up a table to drink a $2 cup of coffee like you do at some chain places. The food was really tasty-ground veal in pasta tubes (not the actual name!) covered in a sauce so addictive that I needed more bread to wipe every last drop from the plate. The bottoms of these tubes were a little browner than I anticipated but otherwise, they were perfect. And the portions were just right after all the wine and bread I had been partaking of! My companion had the steak with the sauce on the side which was a good idea because then he could dip as needed or not at all considering the meat was really flavorful on it's own. I didn't see anyone who was rude at all or any diners who seemed like they were in a rush to get out of there so maybe Thursday nights are for people who chew their food all the way and leisurely sip coffee with Baileys...either way it was my kind of night!

So, I admit that I loved the original ponte vecchio. A lot. And I moved away, and when I moved back, it was gone. So I was really excited when I found out that it reopened in a new location. So I tried it a year or two ago. And it was awful and i told myself i wouldn't go back. But I was driving by yesterday, and saw the parking lot full (guess it was because of half price wine night) and decided to try again. So the boyfriend and I came in for dinner tonight. Got sat right away, and it is a nice place - much nicer than the old place. The wine menu is pretty sad, so we got cocktails - they were ok, but not sure we got the type of vodka we asked for. The app was the butternut squash ravioli. Again, fine but not amazing. The bread was burnt, and the butter was melted. The salads were nothing exciting. I got the spinach rolls and they were also not exciting and tasted doughy. His Kansas City strip steak was charred, the potato strips on top were burnt, and the best part of his meal was the potato wedges. Oh, and don't get me started on the music. Horrible combination of bad accordion music and bad piano music, possibly from a "top italianish holiday hits for the accordion". It would not even be good on Christmas Day to hear this music! With the prices as high as they were ($18 for a vegetarian meal) I will not be coming back. Better than last time, but nowhere near the original. Sadly.

Their pastas are one of the best in town. It is a small place, but has it's own character and charm. Quite frankly, their veggie pastas are a delight! Must try the orange sauce!!

One of the best Italian places in Peoria. Preparation of the food was very good. Ambience was amongst the best in Peoria. Crowd that visits there is also decent and good. Price was reasonable, and portions were more than sufficient.

This is delicious Italian food. I got the cheese & mushroom ravioli and my husband got the scallops. Both were yummy. The atmosphere is quiet and we could really have a conversation.

Over all our experience was okay. On the menu they say that they take a little bit longer to prepare the food because it is all done fresh right at that point, but 40 minutes into the dinner and we have not received our food was a little excessive in my opinion. Food was good when we finally got it.

When Ponte Vecchio closed down, it was a sad day for Crystal :*( But, then she heard that it had risen again, like a phoenix from its primordial ashes! Crystal danced! She sang! It was now "PV II," but would it be as good??? The atmosphere of PV II is definitely different from its predecessor: a little more minimalistic in decor and chic-modern with low lighting and warm reddish painted walls. The food though...the food! It's just as good as the old place, and for that, my taste buds are dancing. Yummy crusty bread that you can dip in olive oil...Smoked salmon crostini that melts in your mouth, a succulent rollatini (pasta pinwheel with ricotta and spinach in a delicious creamy tomato sauce) with moist chicken. MmmMmm. Needless to say, I had a good time, and so did my tummy :) All in all, this is a good place for some tasty Italian food at reasonable prices. Good service, romantic atmosphere with the low lighting, and lots of choices. Your tastebuds will thank me for sending you here.

Went for the first time on a Monday and returned that following Thursday (1/2 price wine night). I have to agree with some of the previous comments that the service is a little slow. However, both nights we were there our servers were great! They greeted us when we walked in, they were very pleasant when taking our orders, and knew all about the wines on the list. We ordered the same appetizer on both nights, Smoked Salmon. It was a combination of smoked salmon and a Mediterranean tomato and olive mixture, on top of a thin layer of cream cheese on a toasted piece of bread. It was delicious. All entrees come with a salad, and when you order an app, the salad was brought out immediately after our plates were taken away. But there was a definite delay from salad to entree. Their marina is great, a little sweet and a little tangy. Both nights, both entrees were fantastic. Cheese was fresh and the marinara was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place! 1/2 price wine night is every Thursday!

Wow, i dont know if there has been a change of management since the negative reviewers went, but this was one of the best meals ive had in peoria, and I grew up here. i had the Ro DeBernardi - "A combination of spinach rotola and chicken rollatini served together for a taste of two of our most popular dishes". O. M. G. it was like a party in my mouth, but thank god i was the only one invited cause I wasnt about to share with anyone. Best meal ive had in peoria to date, the alfredo sauce was to die for. The Caesar salad was pretty darn good too. My parents both had theb black and blue salmon and loved it. My only complaint would be that there was approximately an hour between the salad and our food, but it was a friday night, and the atmosphere was super nice so we didn't mind the wait. would highly, highly, highly recommend.

PV II, the reincarnation of Ponte Vecchio was better than its predecessor. The service seemed a little more "on" than I remember it being at the last place and the atmosphere is certainly better. My garden salad with balsamic vinaigrette was simple and tasty. I had the shrimp and scallops entrée and it wasn't bad. It was well balanced with the right amount of garlic and seasonings. The bread was nothing special and could be improved upon. The service was a bit more casual than the image the restaurant seemed to be aiming for, but certainly not bad. It seems like a solid place to have reasonably good Italian food in Peoria. I'll return.

This small town middle America restaurant is a jewel. The food was nicely presented and delicious. My lobster bisque was creamy with just the right balance of lobster flavor and seasonings. My duck entree was served over pasta with a tasty cream sauce. The proportions were generous leaving enough for lunch the next day. I'm anxious to go back on my next visit to Peoria.

Overall delicious food. We went on a Thursday and they had the special for half price bottles of wine. We got chianti. My husband and I shared the calamari, it had a nice crunch. Cesar salad dressing was tasty. I had the shrimp and scallops served over spaghetti. Flavor was very good. The shrimp and scallops were cooked well. My husband has the stuffed pork loin which he stated was really flavorful and cooked to medium which he likes. Our server was very friendly and the food came out promptly. Ambiance was nice and we went late so we had a lot of attention/service. One thing I do wish is that they had other Italian options like chicken Parmesan (which is my favorite!).

Reviewed this place once before and have been back twice. I gave it four stars the first time and all I can think of is that I must have miss hit the stars. All three visits have been 5 star meals. My wife and I ate at PVII's last night and we had awesome service, in fact we have had awesome service each time we have been there. I had eggplant parm and my wife special ordered salmon without any glaze, just pan seared. The waitress was very intent on making sure my wife got just what she wanted, and did she ever. She was very pleased with the salmon and my eggplant was top notch. Thanks PVII.

First impression: they really need to improve the service. The place was full and the waitress was walking like crazy to serve everyone and was really rude with us. To drink, we had this really good Chianti wine! Love italian wines! We had a potato soup that is amazing! One of the best soup I've had! Served with hot bread! Delicious! But the main dishes were just ok. I had a veal with capellini and my husband had a beef ravioli. Didn't impress us. It's well served and we brought half of the food home. But we didn't even want to eat it after. I was really dissapointed with the food.

I have been to this restaurant numerous times for lunch. HOwever, I went with a group of 7 and three of us ordered the Eggplant Parmesian--all three were cold. Our waitress was unattentive, did not refill our water glasses, nor did she apologize for our cold food. She offered to take one back at a time to not confuse our food. It would have been midnight before we got our hot food. She did not suggest any dessert. She just gave us our bills and said thank you.

PVII has EXCEPTIONAL food and service. The filet mignon sandwich melts in your mouth. The wait staff is friendly and professional. Our only comment is please dust the dining area. The light fixtures and pipes have so much dust that they look furry. If the the dining isn't well kept, patrons may begin to think the kitchen is also neglected. I hope PVII continues to prosper. Chef Josh is an excellent cook. YUMMY!

YUMMY!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
