Just went here last night for dinner. The table was soaking wet (I told the waitress), and she brought back another soaking towel and wiped down our table (still soaking wet) and then went to get paper napkins to dry the table. I didn't understand why she brought the soaking wet rag. We ordered the smoked pork loin sandwich & cob salad. The pork loin tasted more like a bland ham & cheese sandwich, and my girlfriends salad she said was nothing special (considering the salad was more than the sandwich). We also ordered 2 Oktoberfest beers (they were half off that night). They were served in 12 oz beer mugs. I thought that was great until I got the bill, they were billed as 16oz pints for $3.00/each (not much of a deal if you ask me). After finishing the meals the waitress took our plates (our glasses were empty) without asking if we wanted more to drink or if we wanted our bill. We proceed to wait another 3-5 minutes for her to as if we wanted our check (YES please considering you did ask us if we wanted more to drink when you took our plates). I will not be back unless a friend of mine drags me back.

Brisket sandwich was delicious. Smoky and tender. My only complaint was that I was hoping for a bit more meat on the sandwich, but that won't stop me from coming back!

Half-price wine on Fri and Sat. Quite a deal! I usually get the pastrami sandwich and my wife gets the rib-eye. Both are very good and reasonably priced.

No go, the food was cold & sparse (fish tacos with cold skinny fries) with a long wait to boot, would not return!

Very poor quality food, rude staff and overpriced food. Feels like a low- grade casino.

Famous City Bistro is neither famous, nor a traditional bistro, but it *is* in a city. One out of three ain't bad. As for the food... I had the pastrami, which the server swore was the best she had ever tasted. I have had pastrami all over the United States, and this was far from the best. In fact, I've had better pastrami at a dive bar. It simply was NOT pastrami, it was smoked brisket. If they had called it smoked brisket, I would have been happy with it because it was very good for smoked brisket. It had none of the fragrance nor texture of pastrami. The service was fairly good for this type of place, and the staff was pleasant. Misleading name, completely *meh* food, good staff. One out of three ain't bad. Oh, wait, YES IT IS.

Just had our first lunch there along with the wife and daughter. All 3 of us don't often agree on places to eat but this time everybody loved it!. I had the fried chicken, my wife had the salad + clam chowder and the little had a cheeseburger. All items were outstanding and plenty filling. We are coming back for more!

Nice decor and a menu as varied as the name implies. Very friendly staff and very clean. Stopped in for lunch. Sandwiches are 8 - 10 bucks with no sides (but side portions can easily feed two). I have been spoiled by a recent trip to Oklahoma but the brisket is probably some of the best that can be had locally. Would definitely go back if for no other reason than to see if their other menu items were as good as the brisket!

Food is excellent but a little pricy. Decent price on drinks. The daily special the day we went was fried chicken and spaghetti - all you can eat for $10 - an odd combo but pretty good. I had a Cuban sandwich and baked beans. I didn't care for it but I think that was just me. the beans were great. Parking is a nightmare but the atmosphere was nice. There are not many nice places to get good sandwiches that also have a bar. Note, the photo of the Ruben sandwich on their website is much larger than they really serve.

I went here for a business meeting. I chose the brisket, because I heard it was tender. I, specifically, liked the different sauces available at the table side. I am a sucker for good hot sauce! The brisket was in fact tender and moist. The service was great and the atmosphere was quiet and made a great venue to have a lunch meeting. I will definitely be coming back to this place again!

The menu is schizo, but the place is nice with plenty of TV's. The parking is a nightmare though. This place doesnt know what it wants to be, fast food sandwhich place with drive through? Sit down restaurant with steak and prime rib? or a sports bar with plenty of draft choices and alot of TV's? I am of the belief that you should do one thing really well instead of a bunch of things half ass. That being said, I think the one thing they do well is macaroni and cheese!! That is some good stuff, and there philly is nothing to laugh at either. Too pricey though for 8.99 I should get a side with my sandwich

Went Here 1/21/2015 in the evening (~6pm or so) Sat down, and were greeted from across the restaurant, told to sit wherever. The waitress came to the table a minute or two later, bringing menus and asking for drinks. Me and my Fiance got margaritas, and our friend got an iced tea. They refused to blend the margaritas, only offered it on the rocks. The drinks came shortly after ordering. The Iced tea came as expected, but the margaritas were less than desirable. They came in a standard margarita glass, although smaller than usual classes. The glass was ~90% ice and 10~margarita. The margarita tasted VERY watered down, and tasted mostly like the mix, very little to no alcohol in it at all. We ordered some sort of pulled pork nacho dish for an app, which came about 15 minutes later, which i think is a bit too long given there was only one other table in the place, and they were on their way out. The app was good, very sweet BBQ sauce on it, but a bit cold on the inside, which seems like a "stack the ingredients, then put it in the microwave" approach. Dinner came about 10 minutes after that. I got a Reuben Sandwich, my fiance got some kind of chicken salad, and our friend got a burger. The food was good. salad seemed fresh, burger and fries were good, and my reuben was good, though a bit dry on the meat, and cold meat in the center of the sandwich, possibly another microwave deal. the reuben seemed to be missing a tang flavor to the sauce, but i don't quite know a lot about the sauce to determine what is missing. When my reuben arrived, the waitress informed me that my meal came with a free drink, which would have been nice to know when i ordered. They then asked if we wanted another margarita, which we both declined. The glasses were left at the table, pushed to the free spot, for another 10 minutes or so before they were finally removed. We finished our food, paid via CC, and left. During the whole time, the wait staff seemed unprofessional, inexperienced, and rude, shooting dirty looks in our direction whenever I asked questions or looked at the kitchen to look for our food. When they were not at our tables, they were hanging out at the bar talking to one another, which did seem a bit unprofessional given they way we were seated. The restaurant was decorated with blue walls, and has drawings or wall stickies with different cities across the world. slot machines in the back. well decorated establishment ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Food: 6/10 Drinks: 5/10 Service: 4/10 Environment: 8/10 Return again: I would likely come back here for food again, but would try something else next time. I would pray for a better wait staff, and and not order a mixed drink, as the place seems to skimp on both mix and alcohol and give ice as a filler to save money

Poor food poor service. When a place has health board issues it means they have issues that are going to affect your health after you eat there. This isn't baseball I'm not giving you 3 strikes! Good day

I was shocked when we entered this place, with it's name and exterior we thought it would be kind of like a cafe atmosphere. Nope, they have a full bar and very nice mahogany colored tables. When we sat down, I smelled smoke- I mean the GOOD kind! Opening the menu confirmed my suspicion- this place had BBQ- real honest to goodness smoked meat. A quick chat with the cook revealed they use an "Ole Hickory" smoker- one of my faves!! The menu has pulled pork, beef brisket, BBQ ribs! Suggestion to the owners- change your name to "Famous City Bistro and Barbecue"! I would have never known we had another BBQ joint in town if we hadn't stumbled in!

The hostess tried to seat us near a poorly placed table near the door, and insisted on this until we were going to leave. Then we ordered appetizers that came out with our meals. The waitress wasn't able to tell us much about the food, or what draft beer they had. The food was ok, average I would say. Although i have been sick several times today since about 2 am. I'm not certain if was the food, but it was a bad experience. The food is basically all sandwiches, that come a la carte. So they lose a point for no included sides. They lose a point for appetizers that are served with the entrees. They lose a point for horrible service as well, the waitress took my plate with a half eaten sandwich while I was responding to a text. I looked up and she said you're done right? I said well you've taken it already so I guess I am. Bottom line you can get a better sandwich, for a lot less and in better atmosphere at quite a few other places in town. I had a tenderloin, which can be had at Schooners, Our Inn Place and others in town that are also hand made for less,

I came here over the weekend with my hubby and our experience was okay. The service wasn't the best. Our server wasn't in the best mood and that put us off a bit. Anyway, I had the steak salad (black and blue) w/ bleu cheese crumbles and bleu cheese dressing. It was actually pretty good. The lettuce was iceberg, which I don't prefer, but it tasted pretty good. My hubby has the fried chicken which was actually very good, as well as the mac n cheese and french fries. All the food was actually pretty tasty. What could be improved here is the service and the cleanliness (our table and silverware were dirty)..other than that, 3 stars.

Great food, I've been a couple dozen times, and every time it's just good. Edit: took it down from 5 to 2 in recent times the prices have gone up drastically, and the quality off the food has crashed. Disappointed... They are just like every other place now.

I actually came in here without reading the reviews and overall, I would have to agree. This place is a little confusing as far as environment. Is it a sandwich shop? Is it a sports bar? Is it a barbeque joint? I would actually lean towards the latter. I think the food was excellent. I got a barbeque pork and my wife got a reuben. I thought the pork was really good and they have 4 different house sauces to try. The reuben met expectations. Nothing different, but plenty good. The reason I went 3 star vs 4 is because they are a little pricey. Good food, but they are charging a little much for the atmosphere and the location. The service was ok. I believe our server was new. She seemed a little confused, but she did an ok job. Parking was tight, but doable. Overall, nothing special, but worth a stop if you want a sandwich and a beer.

The wait staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant is open and airy. However, the pastrami sandwich was a disappointment. There was not a smidgen of spice or herb in the meat. It was just plain roast beef on rye bread. Hope they pay more attention to the authenticity of the dish. The broasted chicken was good. Juicy and flavorful. The mac and cheese side was too oily. The fries were good. They were the skinny kind. I was a little disappointed that when I went in (Sunday afternoon), they were out of cheese sauce. But, what can ya do? The Chicago dog was a solid pick. Overall, the experience was good, but they really need to put their nose to the grindstone in improving their specialty sandwiches.

I've been here only once. I think the place is pretty good! The price is reasonable and the food is better than I thought. I highly recommend their Broaster Chicken. That chicken is better than KFC! Also, what surprised me was their complimentary bread! that was better than most complimentary bread that other restaurants offer... Verdict: Bang for the buck? High Recommended? Yes

After working hard all day I stopped in here to get a quick carryout order.I ordered the brisket because it was recommended.I also got fries which our not included. This was an expensive lunch of over 10.00 after taxes. When i got home i had what looked like a ham & cheese on a pretzel roll bun.I'm not sure how my order got lost, but this was a ham & cheese. The place was dead with only 1 customer at the bar,so can't really understand what went wrong. The sandwich was delicious as i ate it,but it would have been nice if i got what i ordered. Expensive sandwiches although i hear the philly cheese sandwich is really good.

Horrible food and service. The server spilled cream all over me and never apologized. We will never go back.

Great Philly Cheese Steak and Chicago Beef. The place is nice, working on finding it's identity, but i'll go there for lunch again. The barbeq smelled great. The owner working the room was old school cool.

This a place looks good from the outside but will never eat there again. Waited almost an hour carry out and the food portion was small and average tasting at best

A good place for burgers and american classic. We tried their Dallas Brisket and Cheese Burger. Like both. The brisket was cooked perfect and the different dressing was very delicious and fantastic. The cheese burger was good as well. I liked presentation- Cheese melted around the patty, looked like a huge sunflower. The waiter service was good and kind. It was quick. The ambience and location was very good. Esp for being at corner or sheridan and glen. The theme and name were a bit confusing to me. the price was good were able to finish dinner under 20. Note the sides are not included. Oh! Parking... very little and un marked. Not sure were to park. There are severa business around it and i dont want to park somewhere and get my car towed.
