I'm humbled. And very thrilled! I've had Indian food in several states in the US and have never before been sufficiently satisfied by any restaurant experience. Also, I'm a hard-to-please Indian-food snob so I religiously looked for areas for 'constructive criticism' but was completely won over by Tandor Hut! I agree with the previous reviews - it can't get any better than this ! The owner and the chefs are cheerful, friendly and passionate people. They let me take my time in deciding which item to taste (test) and even asked for preferences to help me choose better. I started with the chicken roast, moved to tandoori chicken and then chicken biryani. All three items were simply, heavenly delicious. I especially recommend the succulent tandoori chicken - for the first time in this country, the meat beneath the glossy-red exterior was full of juicy flavor. I went back the next day and with great difficulty stayed away from the chicken dishes, to try out fresh-off-the-tandoor naans ( it was such a pleasure to be able to see someone make your food with such care, and not to forget - hygeine) dosas, pani puri and samosa chaat. They actually encourage you to customize your chaat ingredients and have an open grill to make you your samosa chaat/aloo chaat right there - fresh and hot !! I have to make a special mention of the Mango Lassi - In all my many experiments with cooking, I thought I perfected this easy drink, but Tandoor Hut put me to shame. The rich ORANGE(not the cheap yellow fare we usually find in desi restaurants) concoction seemed like the perfect accompaniment with practically every dish there. I painfully put my pride aside and asked the owner what they did, to make it so special and he was so kind to share the secret with me. No, I'm not as large-hearted to share it on the internet - go ask him yourself! Bottomline - Naperville/ Chicago folks, listen up! You have a precious thing here, make the most of it. Recommendations : Chicken Biryani, Tandoori chicken, chicken roast, mysore masala dosa, tandoori roti, naan, chaat ( I had pani puri and samosa chaat) and mango lassi

For everything that the Tandoor Hut is, I give it a solid 3 stars. It's tasty Indian fast food. There are some tasty curries, some amazing spicy samosas, excellent chapati bread, and nicely done biryani rice. The food is pretty tasty, and although most is sitting in warmers already prepared the flavors are pure authentic Indian. I am a bit of an Indian food fouchebag (snob). I want to give them a 4 star on food, but since the review is based on the restaurant overall, I've settled on 3 stars. :( The service is a little bit lacking, there was alot of horsing around between the kitchen staff and the front of the house and it slowed things down while things were pretty busy. I've yet to eat in, but I will be back to try some different menu items and hopefully do an updated review! TASTY FOOD, look past any service flaws, if you're just looking for a quick tasty Indian meal.

If you like spicy Indian non vegetarian this is the place. All of the Chicken and meat items are good. Their USP is the fresh cooked Naan. They are awesome.

Delicious, delicious Indian food. My go-to dishes are the Channa Masala and the Paneer Butter Masala (both vegetarian), with a healthy serving of Naan. Whenever my family wants to enjoy some delicious masalas without putting in the effort to cook, we choose this spot. Never had a problem with the food; it's always well portioned and well priced (every so often I find myself needing another naan, but that's a rather minor problem). Definitely consider getting take-out from here if you want to spice up (no pun intended!) a family dinner that otherwise would be pizza, burgers, or sandwiches.

The tastiest meal I've had all week. It's going to knock something off my weekly restaurant list. The spices were all perfect, the naan warm and shift, and the presentation perfect in the new metal trays. I am pleasantly stuffed for about $10.50 but I did get a $3 lassi yogurt drink. My only suggestion to get transparent plastic lids so that Indian food novices can see the various dishes or put more of then up on the 8 tvs they have.

    Pleasantly surprised! Good Indian food

I FOUND A PIECE OF STEEL DISH SCUBBING SPONGE IN MY FOOD! when i asked the man to wrap up my chicken pieces in the naan to make it as a "to go" roll... he looked at me half dazed and confused, as if he'd never heard of indian tandoori naan/ paratha wraps before. I think the owner woke up one morning and thought, "I can make money by opening up a restaurant!" Terrible Terrible representation of Indian cuisine. Go to Sara's eastern grill in the showplace theatre area 5 minutes down the street for a somewhat better representation of Indian food.

This is the real deal Indian food. Seriously, reminds me of traveling through India way back when. I've been here twice now and tried different dishes each time. The chicken biryani and the shahi paneer were my favorites. And the lunch thali is a great value. Only suggestion for them: put a small sign with the cost of the chai above the self-serve And ps - the chai is so yummy, definitely the real deal and not something you would get in a chain coffeeshop.

Incredible food. Owner is awesome. They let you sample prior to ordering. Great service!! I'm already making plans to go back!!

Although the Tandoor Hut is located inside the strip mall that time forgot, it's pretty awesome. Just be prepared: - It's kind of crusty on the inside, and it's cafeteria-style, sneeze guards and all - If you're an Indian food novice, it's a little intimidating But it's so good. The staff was really helpful when we were trying to decide on what to order. You can get free samples to taste stuff! And the best part is, they totally trusted us enough to pay for dinner after we ate. It gave me warm fuzzies. The highlights of the meal for me were the naan and the chili chicken. The naan came on a huge plate all warm, buttery, and awesome. The chili chicken was chunks of chicken fried with some peppers and then totally covered in red pepper flakes. So hot, so good, but not for the faint of stomach. This b has an iron stomach, so I am in love.

Overall the food here is good. Definetly one of the best tandoori chicken, if you wait if just come out of the owen. But I have to agree the service is very worst. The staffs at the front show too much attitude and ignore customers. This was a main complaint from many of my friends as well. I like their chicken dishes but not going here just because of the service. Good - Tantoori chicken, chicken curry disher, veg/non-veg combo, nan, chapati Bad - Service, briyani, vegi dishes ( quality is not consistent everytime)

I've always been iffy about places that serve cafeteria style (who knows how long that food's been there!) but I've heard great things about the authenticity of the food here. The first impression was pretty sad-- random strip mall, no decor, sneeze guards, etc. The staff was very friendly though and let me sample a few things while I figured out what I wanted to order. I got the butter chicken (tikka masala), veggie samosa, and an order of naan. I was a little surprised at the small portion size given the price, but the portion of naan was pretty big so I guess that's fair. They did have a dine-in lunch special, which gives you five (small portions) different entrees for $8. Honestly, I would love to have gotten that but I really didn't feel like trying all those dishes alone in that kind of atmosphere. The samosa was good; I might start stopping by here to get them for my afternoon snacks. The naan isn't as fluffy as I usually like, but the only real problem I had with it is that my stomach is too small to fit all of its buttery goodness. Sad. Nothing about Tandoor Hut was mindblowing, but if you're looking for a quick fix for an Indian food craving, it'll do just fine.

By far the best Indian restaurant around town. Had goat curry and lamb keema which are pretty good. I always order to go since the sitting looks ordinary. Turn around time is also quick and prices are on higher side. But its well earned with the kind of crap others in the area are dishing out.

This place is bad. And I mean bad. I got the chicken roll which had a few pieces of chicken and was super soggy. Tasted awful. The chicken had am uncooked after taste and it was filled with veggies. Now I d OK nt mind my veggies but when I pay $8 for something with the word chicken in it, I am not happy to get veggies. Over all the place is alright at best. Not professional at all which I suppose is a peeve but they spoke a different language the whole time. Wore no gloves and although the man who helped me was kind, I did not like the food and definitely did not get money's worth. Also I went to use the restroom amd it was DISGUSTING! !!! Someone once told me to judge a place by is bathroom, and tp this day, I have found it to be true time and time again. I would not recommend this place

I've driven past this place many times and decided to stop in last week. It must have been between the lunch and dinner rush, because there were no other customers around and some of the workers looked like they were chilling out watching some Indian TV program. (Sorry to ruin your break, fellas!) Now, if you can get over the fact that they have fly paper that needs to be changed hanging precariously over the serving area, then do give the food a try. The folks behind the counter were very helpful in helping me choose what to get. I had a two curry combo, butter chicken and an eggplant curry (along with rice and naan). Both curries were awesome. The mango lassi I had with the combo was a bit lackluster, but hit the spot on a hot summer day. The butter chicken was so good I had a double order to go. I'd probably hang out here more often if the place had WiFi, but I'll definitely return for more.

Not my kind of place- very mediocre Vegetarian Indian food. I am not going back.

Had the goat chop to go... Delicious! Too far for me but have to go back for that and try some other of the grilled stuff..

I have gone to Tandoor Hut three times, the first time the food was good (maybe I had not tasted good Indian food in a while?) but the second and third time the food was terrible....the Chutney tastes as if it is full of sink water. Also the meat and chicken seem to be of a low quality. Aside from the bad tasting food, the service is some of the WORST in Naperville. The people who take your order act as if you are an annoyance or bothering them. They do not seem interested in serving you. Awful food and awful experience. Look for other Naperville Indian food or head to the city for real good food choices.

Let me just say that I LOVE this place. It's pretty much the only place I'll get take-out for Indian food. It can be a little confusing if you're not familiar with the names of dishes, but just ask and they'll tell you what's in it and offer a sample! The service can be a bit slow, but usually when I go in to grab dinner there is NO wait, and they make the naan to order. I have not had a bad experience here.

  • Raj B.

I went here on a Sunday to get a takeout lunch. The good thing about this place is that most of the menu items are on display, so i can look and pick what i want. But, most of those items are there forever i mean forever, I got biryani, some curry and roti to go and roti was the only item that was made today! All other items smelled and tasted bad! Pros - Large menu, cheap. Cons - Not all items on the menu are made today.

  • Ben S.

For what it is, this place is great. This is a soup kitchen type of restaurant where you can be in and out in 5 minutes. I often stop in to grab a meal to go without pre-order and am out in 5 minutes (would be sooner but I order naan). I had one bad experience with a teenaged dude manning the register but other than that, they're great people. Food is good for as fast as it is and it's reasonably priced. If you're looking for a 5 star dining experience, look elsewhere. If you're looking for solid, quick Indian food, this place is a gem.

Went there once. Not a fan. Quantity is too less the prices they charge. I've had better.

this place was delicious. the food is authentic and not Americanized, however it is very spicy; I mean really spicy, so get something to drink. Loved it and would go back again.

I used to be a regular here and I still stop in when I have to go through this area sometimes. A hidden gem. I've tried dozens of Indian restaurants in Chicagoland and this is the only one I've wanted to return to. I never really cared for Indian food until this unassuming little joint made me see the light. No ambiance, no atmosphere, no presentation, but the cooking is just awesome. The best Indian curries I've had. I am a raging carnivore, but even the vegetarian dishes here are exciting, and those are actually what I usually get. You can tell everything's made from scratch and the flavors are always bold, spicy, and complex. I always ask for whatever is spicy and go with what they reccomend. The people who work here have always been really nice and happy to help and explain things for you if you aren't too familiar with Indian cuisine. If you have no idea what you're looking at, don't despair, they will be glad to help you out. The naan is one of the best bread products I've ever had. I could eat a pile of this just by itself. The setup is kind of cafeteria-style service. A combo of two curries and some rice will run you something like $8-$9 but it's totally worth it and it's a big enough portion that you can eat it twice. I almost always save the other half for later (and this sort of thing reheats very nicely). The only thing that keeps me from issuing a full five stars is their excessive use of styrofoam and disposable cutlery, that's a little offensive to this tree-hugging metalhead. I wish they would be a little more Earth-friendly in that regard. Aside from that, this place is awesome, the kitchen does a top-notch job and I hope they do well.

This restaurant is good for what it is and that's fast food indian. I would rank this as slightly below a standard Indian food buffet. The variety was good and I love that they let you taste everything on their menu before you order. Is it the best Indian food I've ever had? Certainly not. But it hit the spot and has quick service. Particularly, the naan wasn't that amazing (a little hard and not as fluffy as usual), but it was sufficient. I would definitely go back to this restaurant when I want a quick fix to my Indian food cravings. I've always thought that there aren't enough fast food Indian restaurants, so I'm glad this one is around. I loved the butter chicken (which is usually my favorite) and they had a few other spicy chicken and vegetarian options. I also had a samosa, which was pretty standard.

Tandoor Hut is hands down the best Indian food in the Chicagoland area. If you have ever been to India you know how the fresh spices flavor the food, and TH is able to recreate everything that real Indian food tastes like. It is PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT! YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE!

We went to this place yesterday and were shocked to see the unprofessionalism of the owner/manager. They had a sign out in the front announcing that they had a Buffet which also listed the items in the buffet menu. The buffet was not accessible to the customers , you had to go to the counter and ask the server to bring out the buffet dishes , which was odd. The second thing that was extremely appalling was that 4 items in their Buffet menu were not even available. When we asked the owner , he made silly excuses and told us that customers should cooperate. The owner / manager was extremely rude. The food was average. I would not go this place in my dreams , neither would i recommend anyone else to.

Decent place. Only got take out. Based on that, I was in the mood for butter chicken and tikka masala, but they didn't have butter chicken so we tried chicken korma. It was ok. Tikka masala was really nice. I was also looking for a specific flavor of dahl and theirs was not it. But overall, for a local take out Indian place, I'm pretty happy with it. Portions of course are not so great, but I think that's typical of Indian take out. We will probably order from here again.

  • Ash N.

Delicious food with a patient staff willing to explain all the dishes to Indian food newbies and even give out samples to see if we like it before ordering! The naan is delicious and fresh, and even the "diet" portion is more than enough to feed a hungry person!

Went here while visiting my fiances mom over Christmas - my fiance had actually gone the day before with his brother. We both really enjoyed this place especially the HUGE naans that they served!

We've been searching out and sampling the Indian fare since we arrived in the area a few weeks ago. We've tried everything from the take-out sweet shops to the full service "fine" dining. I was really hesitant to make the 15 minute trip here, as it is primarily take out. I am sure glad we did. The place comes across as a fast food place, and that's pretty much what it is. But that's ok, because the food - wow. It beats most or all of the places we had already tried - including the most expensive of the full sit-down establishments. Many times, I come away from desiraunts wondering if maybe they all get their food shipped in from one central commissary, and just heat it up. There just seems to be no variation in the selections or the taste. Not so here. The curries that we tried (four of them on this visit) were all very individual, with truly unique and vibrant flavors. Others have mentioned the naan, and I'll put in a word for that, too. Everywhere else, you fork over $2 for a small and quite so-so portion. Here, it is included with the meal! And what's more, it's probably the best you've had anywhere. Yeah, it's just bread. But, it's the attention to the little seemingly insignificant things that helps define what a place is all about. It's obvious that the owner has a business plan for success, and he's certainly following it. In fact, take a look at the sign on the front window. It spells it out in black and white. And on our visit, it was being followed to the T. The place was really clean, too. Both the kitchen and dining area. The seating fast food style, but my rating is based solely on the food. Highly recommended if you're looking for excellent Indian cuisine, and don't need the comfy booth and waiters.

Bad food. The food has excess chilli in every dish. So completely unfit for kids. First time around the taste was ok - nothing special. Usual oil in everything and a lot of chillli. Today the food was simply uncooked and my order was wrong. The curry was completely uncooked and the pakodas were raw. I got naan instead of roti. The place was empty at lunch time - that should have been my clue. Would not recommend it to anyone.

Excellent food! Polite service. I had a 2 entre combo and had enough left over to take home. This place is cafeteria style so atmosphere isn't great. But, they will let you taste anything before you order. That's really cool. especially if you are new to Indian food.

I stopped by here on my way out of town back to St. Louis. What a place! Clean, diner-esque atmosphere, with brushed aluminum counters and everything is right there for you to see. The owner was super helpful on choosing items. I ended up getting the vegetarian combo, a couple of Samosas and the Onion something-or-others (little round bready balls of something) that were excellent. I've had Indian several times, and I"ve always liked it, but this, ...this was out of this world! The Nan, fresh out of the tandoor oven (I walked around the side and peered into the back and watched a younger man cooking it in the oven) was amazing, just enough chewyness and the flavor, wow! I actually didn't start eating this stuff until I was on the road, and when I did start I was amazed. I pulled over down the road, and turned around and went back and got another order of everything for my girlfriend and her daughter. It made the trip and they had it that evening and THEY loved it! I've been back once and was still impressed. I wish he'd open one here in St. Louis. The flavors are indescribable, but just fantastic. Cheers! Also, look at my other reviews notice that I don't always give good ratings to restaurants, but this one deserves it. Inexpensive, flavorful, unique, and the owner is passionate.
