Grandma’s Table Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Grandma's Table always seems to be packed. But when you go in, it doesn't feel overbearing with people. Breakfasts are always good. The omelets are fluffy and the skillets are jam packed with meaty goodness. It's a good place to get the best deal for your money. Even the dinners are great. Though a couple times, I went in on a Sunday and their specials were sold out. That seems a little lame especially when I had to go through four different choices before I picked something that was available. Boo.

The GREAT alternative to fast food. C'mon in and get a meal just like Grandma would make. One of the last places on earth where you are served by real people that care. You can eat Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner (& late dinner) here!

I saw there were many reviews on here and I had to disagree with the bad ones. I was there on 9-22-12 and yes it was a Saturday night and they were very busy and as for the service it was outstanding. I was looking around seeing if any of the bad reviews were legit and at the time i would say no. I had a coworker go there the Sunday night the week before and it was the same as my good review. They had no bad things to say for it and with that being said the food was good and for me the prices were a little high to what I was used to with a same type of restaurant but the portions were very big and the dinners came with cake or pie as well so you did not go away hungry or feeling cheated. I would try it if you are reading this and write your review on what you thought. I will go back.

When shopping out in this area, I was delighted to spot this diner and was thrilled when we didn't have to settle for fast food. However, that feeling was short lived when I realized that I would have been better off at the Dairy Queen down the street. The waitress was just about as unclassy as a waitress could be. I am not one to judge on someone's personal appearance, but she was walking around with her shirt dirty and untucked, had filthy hands and nails, and was missing most of her teeth. She also made several passes at my husband and called me "honey" one too many times. But even if I saw beyond all of that....the food also left a lot to be desired. The bread that was given to us was stale, but I crunched on it as I looked over the menu. I don't know what it was that I wanted, but I didn't find it on the menu. The thing I love about going to a diner is that they pretty much have anything you could want. My husband wanted to order a pot roast special they were advertising on the menu, but they were out of it. I settled for a steak sandwich with a Greek salad to start. The salad was actually very good and if I ever found myself forced to eat here again, this is what I would order . I think they make all of their salad dressings homemade. Then my sandwich came out and it was covered in cheese, onions and peppers. They didn't offer just a plain steak sandwich, probably because they want to try and hide the fact that they use the crappiest cuts of meat that they can find. The sandwich was just okay and whatever the rest of my family ordered was about the same. The bill on the other hand, for three of us to eat dinner was close to $50. I couldn't believe we had wasted that kind of money on this extremely mediocre dinner. Next time we are having fast food.

Wow. Order the gyros plate and you will be treated to a feast. The greek salad is just enormous (and tasty), the gyros meat plentiful, the potatoes cooked just right, and the dessert selection very good. And all of this included in the plate price. The service was excellent, too. If you're into health food, skip this place, but if you're looking for great diner food, you've found it here.

Enormous portions and very good diner/ comfort foods.

"I think this restaurant was okay but way too much sugar in the grape juice." said my 10 year old. It isn't very healthy with big portions of bad food. The flavor is lacking and the offerings are standard for a breakfast place. Plus our food was cold.

Im a huge fan of breakfast, this place is good. Espically if you like pumpkin pancakes! They are out of this world. Im still working on replicating them with no luck. The service is quick and portions are big. Try the Vegetable soup-it was soooo good.

Good food always enough to take some home, great service (Seriously some really nice waitstaff). The skillets are really good, sandwiches nice and big, etc. Grandma's is the one place my 19 yo son and I don't argue, lol. The worse thing I can say is they serve Pepsi and Coke

A pro is that I get to write a review naming the owner "Pete" for his sexist and often outrageous comments to his staff. No woman should have to endure this mans (if you want to call him that) comments. This community should boycott this restaurant and put this man out of business. When is it okay to call a waitress "stupid" or to threaten a mother of 2 job daily? As a Soldier I know a thing or 2 about leadership and this guy has none.

If you like family restaurants and large portions, this is the place to go! We are here for both lunch and breakfast while in the area for a wedding. Although we tend to avoid such places, the other available options for fine dining in the vicinity were non existent. Great variety, friendly service, delicious home-cooked meals and did I mention healthy (aka LARGE) portions? Things I did not like: freezing cold air blowing on us in our booths on both visits, and lots of litter (cigarette butts, etc.) around the entrance and parking lot.

One of the best sit down, relax and eat restaurants around. Always friend services, making sure you are set with your food, drinks and whatever else you might need. Great food especially their breakfast. This a must stop place just eat with your family!

Have been coming here a number of years as there weren't a lot options a few years ago in Oswego. Normal 200-300 diner menu options. LOL Food is always good, prices very reasonable and most dishes are huge portions for those with a big appetite. Couple long time waitresses always greet us and razz my son a little. They literally have watched him grow up. Pete always stops by the table to say if he didn't seat us. Community involvement by hosting monthly breakfast for Veterans presided over by Hershel, who also is involved with Honor Flight Chicago. Although relatively short wait times, packed for breakfast so expect a wait on weekends. Enjoy!

Grandmas Table is one of our favorite spots. I personally like the breakfast skillets any time of day, and my wife favors the broasted chicken. Portions are very large and the prices are awesome. Their cocktails and beer are a good deal too. Service is top notch.

I will only take a away a star from lack decent attentive service. There is also some inconsistency in bread variety in the basket provided with most meals. Overall for a local diner, its top notch! I have yet to get a bad meal here. One of the better options is the philly cheese steak and the breakfast options are well prepared.

Heard good things from a couple of co-workers, so I decided to give it a try. Place was packed, but it didn't affect the great service we got. I walked in anticipating breakfast, but they stop serving that in the afternoon/early evening, so I got the 4 piece broasted chicken dinner and opted for french fries and it also came with soup, which was very good. Not the best broasted chicken and fries I have ever had, but certainly not the worst. However, the dinner came with dessert, and I got a piece of the Boston Creme Pie, which was not so good. I will return eventually for breakfast, and maybe another item on the lunch/dinner menu

My first time here even though I live right down the road. Meh food. Good service. I got the Wanderers skillet and it was okay, I didn't enjoy the hair I found in it. Biscuit and gravy side was okay it was dry but I liked it better than the skillet for sure! I love Riverview diner so much more!!

Grandma's Table is just another diner serving greasy, but filling, breakfast, lunch and dinner for a low price. The decor is dated; it's very "diner chic." I walked in around 4:00 p.m. on a Friday. Other than myself, there was a couple dining on the other side of the restaurant. They left shortly after I arrived, leaving me as the only patron. There were 3 waitresses on staff, this place has got to be losing money. On my way out, another patron walked in for his lonely dining experience. It was awkward, because I could see the 3 waitresses congregating from where I was sitting, and I got that paranoid feeling they were watching me. Based on other reviews, breakfast seems to be a busier time of day. The other options in the area (KFC, Burger King, a Chinese restaurant) make Grandma's Table an appealing option. Because of it's location and proximity to, well, nothing better, I have to give it a better score than if it were in a busier area with better options. The food was, overall, edible and satisfied my hunger. The chicken rice soup was hot and creamy, but it desperately needed seasoning. I couldn't finish it unless I had emptied the salt and pepper shakers. And I love creamy soups. The chicken sandwich was bland as well. The fries were outstanding though, piping hot, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. There was a pretzel roll in the bread basket - score! I got lots of "honey" and "sweetie" from my very friendly and polite waitress. For $10 I got a really filling, hot, and quiet meal. I'd return, but I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here again.

I give Grandma's Table 4 stars for the food and desserts alone. The ambiance isn't great and sometimes the servers are overly busy and you can feel forgotten about. All that said the food is tasty homemade style comfort food. Don't go here on a diet! The portions are large, especially the dinner plates. My family and I have gone a few times and I've decided that my favorite Entree is the Grilled Pork Cop and Fried Shrimp, so delicious plus I can take left overs home. Dinner for 3 including desserts and tip is never more than 30 dollars, you can't beat that!!

Family restuarant - good food - friendly wait staff - clean - comfortable - prices reasonable. Plenty of free parking. We go here fairly regularly - mostly for breakfast. Definitely recommend

I usually eat here when I come home to visit. I thought my folks still ate here but when I told them about my experience, they informed me they now go to Riverview. I ordered an 11 oz steak ($11.75). I then get a nice Midwestern portion (I should have known it was like 16oz) but the steak did smell non-fresh and was totally bland, not seasoned. Then I get the bill for $28. The waitress thought I asked for skirt steak (which is ridiculously overpriced for the food quality, plus they serve corn as a vegetable). They adjusted the bill after I pleaded my case when I specified that I requested 11 oz during my order. The co-owner (Greek guy) was "customer friendly" but I could read inside he wasn't too happy, commenting "There's a big difference between skirt steak and chopped steak" as one last utterance before we settled. I reminded him that when a customer points to size/quantity, that's the deal. We are not experts of their dish names. However I still offered to pay for their unilateral mistake to save family face, and considering we have given them several thousand dollars in biz over the last 25yrs. Sorry to say, this course of dealing has come to a close. Best of luck

We used to frequent this restaurant and it was always okay. Not gourmet, but okay for a family style restaurant. More recently health issues and surgeries have kept us away. Today we returned to quite a different place. While the staff was still friendly the food no longer tasted home cooked but instead was likely frozen, processed, ready made food. Not very good. Also the prices are much, much higher than they were. I had a cubed beef sand which, onion rings, and chocolate milk. My man had a waffle with ham and an iced tea. The bill was a whopping $28.00!!! We can eat at a much nicer restaurant for this amount of money. We will not be back.

We have been frequent visitors since moving to the area. The food is great, especially the from scratch soups. The portions are large allowing for a few days leftovers. The servers are very nice, especially Crystal. I have never had a bad meal here. Definitely a cut above others for this type of restaurant.

This is a nice place to have a good meal. Breakfast is great, and everyone is friendly. You see a lot of the regulars there, and it just has that small town feel to it.

Delicious! Our server, Emily, was quick with drinks and checked in on us often even though it was crazy busy. The food was delicious (omelettes) and there was tons of it. The cook actually listened when I asked for extra crispy hash browns, ha. They must have been short staffed because they had one lady trying to do hostess duties AND be the cashier. She did it cheerfully, but I would have been very overwhelmed.

This place is yucky. It is quite run down and the food is gross. I came here with my husband's grandma because she said she liked to eat here. I don't know why. The only thing I some what enjoyed was the mashed potatoes that came with my meal. There is another family restaurant in downtown Oswego that is much better. I do not recommend this place at all.

This is about the only place around this area that is NOT a freaking franchises and is private owned with a decent menu and decent food. Get the Ruben or one of their steak dinners. Don't forget to eat your veggies, remember your at Grandma's and she's watching somewhere!!! Polite staff and owners. Hard to find these days. I should say Polite people that don't wear a mask over their faces.

This place has decent food, no real complains about that part, it's a breakfast diner. You get what you're expecting here, and if you're a fan of country gravy it's actually decent and fresh tasting. That's the reason I granted this place two stars, because if you're dying for breakfast and it's the only place nearby you will most definitely leave stuffed to the brim with a hot meal. We go here occasionally we when don't have the desire to drive out to a real breakfast place, or when we don't want to spend the gas money to go far. That being said, the service here is TERRIBLE. Easily the worst service I have ever received anywhere, ever. It's almost embarassing to be sitting there watching it go on around you. Every time we go, we get the distinct impression from our servers that we're annoying the hell out of them by having to be served. They constantly cuss back and forth across the dining room (I'm not offended by cussing or anything but its definitely not professional or family friendly for some people with kids). They toss our food onto our tables, never smile, and could generally care less that we exist. I don't expect servers to kiss my ass, but I do expect them to actually give a crap about their job. If any of the servers here care, then they certainly aren't showing it. My husband and I generally refer to this restaurant as: "The place where dried up servers go to die." Every time we go there we end up with some server that just couldn't care at all that she ever lived. It's downright depressing, and a lot like the twilight zone. It's like Ed Debevic's but without being funny. At all.

I agree with Jared this is the only place around that is not a franchise. I moved here from Chicago two years ago and this was the first place I visit. The service was great but its pretty crowded on weekends. The staff is excellent and the portions are grand. The only down fall I had about the place lately is that there fried fish dinner was not the same, the batter was thick and it was not what I had in the pass, It was a bit of a disappointment. When my family visit they love to eat here and I recommend the cream of Chicken and rice soup along with everything else.

The food and service used to be good here. Now the prices have gone up and portion have have become smaller.the best waitresses have gone to. Better places.example - a small order of onion rings is $7.5

Lovely neighborhood diner. I just moved to this area and had a great brunch there this past weekend. I had a large and non-greasy spinach-feta omelette with 2 massive rye toast slices and a fruit plate. My coffee was filled promptly 3 times with a good house blend by a friendly waitress. It's hard to find non-chain restaurants down that area too. What a treat.

Grandmas table is a nice family owned restaurant. While the staff here is very friendly and accommodating the food is nothing that you can't get at any other dinner. Last time I ate here I had the cheese burger and although a bit on the dry side it was still fairly tasty. My fries however were old and tasted like they were sitting under the heat lamp for some time. Fries aside Grandma's table is still a good value for the money and a nice place to go eat. There breakfast menu looks very good and I think next time I will have to stop in for breakfast.

Typical breakfast house, huge menu, we have eaten here 3 or 4 times. It is just o.k., nothing is bad, but nothing exceptional. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant very dated.

Not a bad decision when faced with a huge appetite and limited funds. These guys don't hold back on portions. A staple in the area... BTW... The best home-made croutons EVER!!!

  • Caley R.

Not a bad joint. Huge selection, friendly people and the food isn't great but it is pretty good. If I had to choose between this and Chive, the other breakfast joint in the area. I would pick Grandma's Table. I like the setup of this restaurant better.

Arghhh! The temptations. Grandmas Table is right across the street from my workplace and like a siren, it's constantly summoning me. No! I must resist their delicious skillets and waffles. Keep away HE-MAN breakfast. You'll clog my arteries faster than throwing a fat kid down a water slide. Anyways, all kidding aside this place is a pretty excellent breakfast joint. The portions are generous (perhaps overly so) and their service is cranky but in a fun way. But seriously, stay away from the He-Man breakfast unless you plan on dying young. It starts with a plate full of biscuits, topped with a ten ounce chopped steak and then topped with more biscuits and then drenched with sausage gravy and two eggs on top. WTF is this monstrosity? With that in your body, you won't have a bowel movement for a month.

This building has a place in my childhood. My mom would take me here all the time when I was a little girl and when we go back to IL (im in Florida) we ALWAYS stop here. Ive been seeing those cloud painted ceilings since i was knee high and have always come back for the suckers at the end :D The food is awesome. Really hot, really flavorful, and huge. Theres a lot on the menu so theres always something delicious after every page. I seriously love this place, and it will forever be my favorite for breakfast.
