We were in the quad cities for a weekend getaway, looking for a good "local" restaurant--not a "chain" establishment we could experience at home--and someone at our hotel recommended Miss Mamie's. We were totally satisfied with both the food and the service. The menu offers lots of choices, but prime rib was on special, so I ordered that. It was cooked exactly like I like it and was tender and delcious. My wife had a spinach salad with grilled salmon, and she was quite pleased with her meal too. The first thing served was home-made rolls and cinnamon rolls accompanied by whipped butter-and-honey; delicious! Our server was pleasant and attentive to our needs. We will definitely eat here again next time we're in Moline.

Strangely this place is usually empty when I go during the week when staying in Moline for work. They have a great beer selection and very reasonably priced entrees. I travel over from Chicago and am always amazed with the quality and price of the food. They bring a bread basket with awesome honey butter and a cinnamon roll toucan save for dessert. The service is also great! The only thing is their location is kind of out of the way and they have poor signage. The Mexican place next door has far better signage.

I wish I could do a 0 review. All the food is catered towards blue hairs on blood thinners. I have never, I repeat NEVER, ordered anything that had any flavor. Not one thing. I've been forced to eat here about 10 times.. every single time it gets worse. I ordered a steak, thinking you couldn't screw it up. NOPE. WRONG. They did. If you have taste buds and/or you don't enjoy punishing yourself, avoid this place. This is not hyperbole. I am being serious, not just trying to be funny.

Last night was my first time in the Quad Cities area and it was recommended that I don't miss this opportunity to have a great dinner with my local-based friend. We were promptly seated by our hostess and an attentive, experienced waitress took our drink order. The list of appetizers seems somewhat limited but we opted for crab cakes as well as their onion rings (which are also available as a half order). The French Onion soup and a salad were ordered next. The soup was very nice on a snowy eve but the salad definitely needs some help, even with the crumbled bleu cheese. For our entrée, we tried the prime rib, which was on special on a Friday night. Sadly, I found the quality of this course to be fairly lacking. Dessert was a typical restaurant (frozen) cheesecake that was described as served with fresh strawberries. The lone strawberry was fresh indeed but we needed to convince our helpful waitress to bring a bigger portion, to which she quickly accommodated our request. Having arrived early (4:45 pm), we received great service and even shared some pleasant interactions with neighboring tables, primarily about the impending snow. To split the review, I'd offer four stars for the circus but I don't think I can honestly offer up more than three stars for the meal itself. Perhaps a different meal could have produced better results.

We went here on a sleepy Monday night. Maybe the best way to describe this type of food is "homey": tasty, like your mother would make if she were a good cook, but not gourmet. Much of it centers around seafood. We had a fried catfish and a Boetje's mustard salmon--both were very good. The loaded potato was good. The spinach salad was great--the smoky and salty bacon, the apples and oranges--all of the flavors were clear, but didn't overpower each other. The appetizer bread--a cinnamon roll and a soft, buttery biscuit with honey butter--were deeply satisfying, both sweet enough to be dessert if you wanted them to be. Our server was fun to talk to and did a good job, checking up on us a couple times. The only disappointment of the evening was the crustless cheesecake dessert. It was rubbery, flavorless, and hard--it tasted like the cook accidently left the sugar and vanilla out of the thing. Maybe it had been in the fridge too long. Other than the dessert, the meal was great and we'd be happy to go back.

We went there for my grandma's birthday today ( party of six). The waitress was distracted by her friends at another table and they were watching a very loud video on a cell phone. I asked for a salad without bacon and the salad had extra bacon. I had to wait for a replacement salad. This was the only vegetarian item on the menu. My fathers steak was rare, not well done and the portion size was small for the price. The restaurant decor was dusty and something out of the 1970s. I will not go back.

I am not sure why this place only has four stars everything that we tried far exceeded our expectations. The made from scratch rolls were a great start the French onion soup was one of the best I ever had and the beef stroganoff was also one of the best that I have ever had. This was my childhood favorite and it brought me back to that. The catfish was nicely breaded and fried to perfection as was the chicken fingers which had more like a tempera batter on it which in other restaurants would be soggy but not here. The chocolate lava cake was the perfect end to out meal. We were in town for a graduation and liked the place so much we came back the next night. Shelly was a great server and she gives stickers out to the kids for eating their dinner. The decor is a little out dated but they are in the process of updating it. I would plan a trip back here just to eat at this place.

I had the opportunity to visit this place on my own during a cross country trip. The host at the local Marriott chain hotel directed me here when I asked "how is the Applebys". I had just driven for 12 hours and this was the perfect spot at 8PM; quiet, solid, good food, tasty cold beer, and polite, pleasant waitress. It has a 70s or 80s feel, reasonable prices, and was just what I needed. I'd go back here again when I do this cross country drive.

Yes, it's packed with old people. And I mean you can't swing a cath bag without hitting some grey hair. So what? You want to know what old people know that young people seem to forget? How to calm down and just enjoy a simple meal. That means if you see tons of old people in a restaurant you can bet it's going to be good food, and that was definitely the case with this place. I was here on a business trip and quite skeptical of the selection due to other reviews, but the service and food were more than enough to make up for the smell of moth balls and Youth Dew and being called whippersnapper. The basket of free bread got and kept our attention. While I humbly disagree with one of my bosses' assessment that the rolls are better than Loveless biscuits, I do agree that they are some of the best rolls I have had, but not all that different from the rolls at Main Street Cafe in Madison, AL. We tried the fish sticks, onion rings, tater boats, and crab cakes as appetizers for our party of nine, and it was almost enough to have our food come out in doggy bags. The crab cake was not great, but it is basically a land-locked state so who cares?! The catfish was amazing, and the onions and potato dishes were solid. I had the "beef'n'reef" because, well, it's just a cool name. This method of selection served me well at Happy P.P. Pizza when I ordered "Green eggs and ham", so I've stuck with it when applicable. Anyway, the crab cake was already reviewed, but the shrimp and beef were both quite good. I also had the garlic salad, which was almost as good as my wife makes with Garlic Expressions! The servers were very attentive and kept our glasses very full. They even put up with the occasional "Roll Tide" that kept coming from the other side of our table, so for that I would nominate them for sainthood.

If you are a fan of the Wisconsin style supper club Miss Mamies is for you. Today was our 1st visit to Miss Mamie's even though we have lived within a mile and a half of it for the past nine years. We had avoided it because from the outside it looked like a place that only "old people" would like. When we entered in, our children ages 10 & 14 brought down the average age of the patrons to 68. Our family was by far the youngest table there during Sunday lunch. Salads came with our entrees. My son & I had the Garlic Salad. The flavor of the salad was good but the amount of dressing was overkill and made it unappetizing. There was so much dressing on the salad it made the croutons mushy and the lettuce limp. My husband had the same experience with the Spinach Salad. The amount of dressing made the spinach droopy. When all of the salad was gone there was a pool of dressing remaining in the bottom of the bowl. Because we were told that seafood is the specialty of the house, the 4 of us each ordered a different seafood dish. Our 14 year old son got the Cajun Catfish. He liked it the flavor of the fish but stated that the vegetables that accompanied it were flavorless. I ordered the Seafood Trio which was Char-Grilled Tilapia, Crabcake, and 3 Sauteed Jumbo Shrimp in a lemon butter sauce. The lemon butter sauce reminded me of the sauce on chicken picata but there was so much on the plate that the fish was drowning. The Tilapia was supposed to be char-grilled. It appeared to have missed the grilling and charring portions of the cooking process. The jumbo shrimp were undercooked and the crabcake was missing the all important crab. The best thing on the plate was the Loaded Baked Potato. I was happy the baked potato wasn't too large, it was perfectly portioned. Loaded for a baked potato meant butter, sour cream & shredded cheese. I had said in my 1st sentence of this review that if you like Wisconsin Supper Clubs that Miss Mamies is for you. Part of the charm of the supper club is the staff that has been working together at the same location for years. From the hostesses to the waitstaff it is obvious that they have been there for a long time. Everyone appeared to enjoy their job. The staff at Miss Mamies was friendly. Another way that Miss Mamie's resembles a supper club is in the decor. Dark wood paneling, old carpet, out of date banquet chairs. It looks like in recent years someone has begun to update the interior with a fresh coat of paint. It was very clean and bright inside and didn't make you feel like you are in a cave in spite of all of the wood paneling. I see potential for Miss Mamie's. I wish the food we were served was as beautiful as the pictures on the website. I don't plan on coming here frequently, but when my inlaws from Wisconsin are down on a Friday and want to go out for fish we will most likely consider Miss Mamie's because it would be where they would be comfortable.

Upon visiting miss mamies the first thing to catch my eye was the large drink menu, including ample foreign and domestic offerings. The bread and butter is good and the cinnamon rolls are a special addition. The salad choices were unique though my spinach one was fine. The London broil was excellent and same for the loaded potato, I hope to come back to try a seafood entree.

Coming here makes me feel comfortable and well fed, just as if I'd come over to my favorite aunt's house during a family get-together. Lots of tasty simple dishes of a seafood and lite cajun nature. The homemade bread with honey butter is delectable and melts in your mouth. Their potatoes are fully loaded, unless you say otherwise. They could just improve their vegetarian offerings a little by perhaps adding a vegetable pasta dish and a veg sandwich of some sort or even an eggplant parmisan dish with cajun spice. On our last visit we missed the sweet rolls, probably because we didn't finish the bread and honey butter (!). Those sweet rolls really make for a great accompanyment to the lunch or dinner, but also a fab taste of dessert at the conclusion of the meal. They have a fully stocked bar and bar area for those coming in with friends to hang out a wee bit before stepping to the lunch or dinner table. Sometimes vintage auto collectors drop in so you get quite a display in the private parking lot.

We were in Moline, IL for a week and found this place on Yelp. I actually wanted coconut shrimp and their website said they had it, so that made our decision. We had a party of 11 and the menu was diverse enough for everyone. The food was excellent and came in rather large portion sizes. I had the coconut shrimp and they were more like prawns. The others in my party ordered jambalaya, beef and reef, tilapia and beef medallions and everyone raved about the food! The spinach salad really is a must have! It has apples, walnuts, mandarin oranges, bacon and tomatoes and homemade poppy seed dressing that is really wonderful. If I ever go back to Moline, I will definitely go back to Miss Mamies!

I knew there would be comments about the demographic leaning more toward the "senior" end of the spectrum, and I was probably going to comment on it if nobody else already had, but looks like we're covered. I'm not really sure why mostly older people seem to eat here a lot, other than the fact that it's good "home-style" cooking, which seems to be favored by "the greatest generation." I like that stuff too, so I enjoy eating here. Bonus - the supper rush is over by 4pm. The food has always been well above average, and the portion sizes are ample. They have a large menu and are (locally) well-known for items such as their garlic salad and cinnamon rolls. The service has always been good. They keep the bread and drinks coming. The decor is unsurprisingly a 1920's-era "grandma's parlor" style. Not necessarily a bad thing, just sayin'. I've always found it comfortable.

We eat here 1-2 times a month for the lunch specials. I guess I now qualify is a geriatric, based on other reviews. We like good food over greasy fast food. Good lunch values. Soup and 'garlic' salad for us.

I have no idea why this restaurant attracts the type of people that qualify for medicare. That being said, I thought the service was good, food is reasonably priced for a small town, although could be cheaper, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I need to add, I really enjoyed their spinach salad, a must try if you go here. Also tried one of their catfish dishes, which was not so spectacular. If all their entrees were as good as their spinach salad, this place would get 5 stars, but I know they have a handful of so-so entrees.

We must've came here when they had the senior special. It was white hair as far as the eye can see. I suppose it's decent enough and fair quality.

I am very happy with Miss Mamie's and would enthusiastically return. We arrived on a weeknight with our little boy right at 6 pm. I had a lackluster appetite, a cold coming on and my heart set on Mexican, so I nearly pulled the plug to dart over to the Los Agave's across the lot. I'm glad I didn't. The three of us were seated quickly in a huge corner booth which I appreciate given the guarantee that our boy will 1) Make an embarassing mess, and 2) Make an immediate grab for any item in sight. The extra space is very helpful. Our server, Brenda, was exceptional. She was on par with the best servers I've seen anywhere. Despite how busy the place was on a Monday night, and it continued to fill up throughout our evening, Brenda was present, pleasant, and fantastic. We did stick out in a population of blue hairs, being in our late thirties and showing up with a ravenous baby, but based both on previous reviews as well as the cars in the parking lot (the Buicks and Caddy's were abundant) we knew we would. This place is worth it. I ordered a glass of Riff Pinot Grigio, (meh, a little anemic to my palate) and he (a commited Hendrick's lover) gambled on the local River Rose Gin. He loved it enough to order a second later on. I do not like gin and expected it to be a bust for him but I have to admit, it was superior to Sapphire and would happily buy a bottle for him as a gift. Who doesn't support local? He and the baby went nuts over the bread basket filled with rolls and cinnamon buns served at the start. It came with only honey butter, we would have preferred at least the option of non-sweetened, but the basket got anhilated regardless. We followed up with our meal order. Caeser salad for him (outstanding!) and spinach salad for me with the house lemon poppyseed dressing. I was very tentative about my salad choice but Brenda ran down every ingrediant and then guaranteed me that she would replace my salad if I didn't like it. Sold! She was right, it was very nice, my only hesitation is that the Cesaer was so good, and my spinach was not baby. The leaves were very tender and fresh, no qualms there, but the very size of the leaves was enough to dirty up my napkin with facial tidiness. For entrees we ordered up the kids cat sticks for baby, the surf and turf special (I had low expectations but rolled the dice) and the chicken fricasse. Beyond "seriously old school" (we are deep in blue hair territory here), I am not sure what fricasse is supposed to be but it was outrageously good. Two big pieces of perfectly fried chicken served atop a huge mound of fantastic mashed potatoes that had the baby banging on the table for more. The gravy had me drooling. My surf and turf was very satisfying. My 6 oz filet was overcooked, I'm a dedicated medium rare girl, and it came out medium but still tender, juicy and very well seasoned. My lobster tail was perfectly cooked, there was not a scrap left despite my lackluster appetite, huge salad and delicious loaded baked potato. I did order a different glass of wine with my entree, the Brotherhood Reisling, which paired quite well with the lobster and greatly enhanced my overall experience. The baby's order cat sticks came with very tasty tartar sauce and with both of our potato sides was a big hit. Really top notch home cooking available, the decor is boring and if you're terrified of being seen holding the door for a retiree this isn't for you but the service Is remarkable and the food is tremendously satisfying for all types of appetites.
