High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. When we make plans to go out, this is where we go to dinner. I am absolutely addicted to their chicken won ton tacos (as noted in a previous Yelp review - different location). The won ton tacos keep me coming back and if I could go there everyday for them, I would. I also really love their pub pretzels and they make very nice mixed drinks. The staff is so amazingly friendly and conversational. I never regret coming here and always have a great time.

I hate crapplebees. Just miserable food, I have ate at applebees a couple places around the country out of desperation and food needing where nothing else was available but this particular applebees is the worst. The appetizer sample the cool to th touch as was the spinach artichoke dip when we sent it back they nuked it and it caramelized into inedible crust of disgusting crap. NEVER AGAIN will I eat at Crapplebees.

I've been here twice in the two months. Both times the service was very slow. My son ordered ribs and after waiting for a half hour was then told that they were out of ribs and he should order something else. Then 15 minutes later the manager arrived and said that actually my son was getting the last order of ribs and then they would be out. The manager also said "They're cooked fresh for you". What does that mean? How are they usually cooked? The fries were lukewarm. On the plus side the waitress was attentive with drink refills and apologetic that everything took so long.

Traveling a lot and eating out don't usually go hand in hand but I always seek out Applebee's because they have an under 550 Calorie selection that is really actually very good. Have not had a bad meal on the 550 selection - the rest of the stuff looks like average and ordinary artery clogging choices. I would eat here again.

The only reason I'm giving this place a two star review because my server is such a sweetheart. The severs are very nice but the cooks seem like they frankly don't care about the food coming out. My steak was cold when I finally got it. My chicken tortilla soup didn't have any tortillas in it. The people sitting behind me in the booth got raw vegetables. My mother's spinach wasn't cooked and her meal looked all together unappetizing. I won't be coming back here. I'm honestly disappointed. I don't get much time off usually so when I take my mom out I expect to have a good time. I had the worst dinner that I've ever had. We should have just went to O'Charley's Update: in the words of my mom's friend's son "This place SUCKS"

Bad service. Mediocre, lukewarm food. Crowded, noisy atmosphere. If those last three descriptions weren't enough to turn you off, here's a story to make you forget about considering Applebee's for dinner. Me and a few friends went out for drinks and appetizers one night (before half price apps, so there's no reason why they would not have any ready to go) and got a table near the bar. We ordered our drinks and the waitress completely disappeared. Took us 30 minutes to get a few beers, only after we had to get the attention of the manager, who then left before he found someone to take out order. Another ten minutes go by without anyone coming to take our order and we eventually just got the attention of some random waitress, paid for the drinks, and left. That experience turned me off this place for good. Will not be back.

Worst dining experience I've had in Southern Illinois. Service was slow and unapologetic. A friend and I went prior to the lunch rush when the restaurant was only about 20% full. We waited 10 minutes for someone to seat us and another 25-30 minutes for someone to take our drink order. We were told by our server that someone had called in that morning and that's why it took so long. Okay, not really an acceptable excuse, but not surprising due to assumption she wasn't trained on customer service. Another 25-30 minutes had passed before we received our food. After requesting to speak to the manager, it was the manager himself, that brought out our food. After sharing my concern with him, his only reaction was to comp our food. Okay, thanks for the free meal, but you're missing the point. He provided the same explanation about an employee not showing for work. So really? One absent employee impacts the level of service you're able to provide?? As a consultant, I offered him some advice on dealing with customer complaints. Poor guy was in over his head, no wonder the staff were offering up excuses. I hope anyone that eats here has a better experience than I, otherwise be prepared for incompetent management and dis satisfactory customer service.

Less than impressed. Food was mediocre and not the norm from an Applebee's. The thing that I have an absolute problem with is having empty drinks for more than 15 minutes. Probably won't be returning to this location.

It's astounding to me that this place is packed all the time. The service is so beyond terrible. You would think if the place is busy the workers would pick up the tempo.... No. They seem to be there to socialize. The food is typically the same anywhere. But it seems even that needs attention. Will not ever go back. Where is the management here?

Poor service. Waitress ate her lunch while we waited on service. Never got a refill. Food was subpar-tasteless and cold. Will not visit this one again.

Since I've yet to find any good gourmet burgers in the area, I sometimes come here for a decent burger. And they have a few decent burgers. But there is not really anything else drawing me here. I've always had decent service and usually sit at the bar, since I don't want to wait for a table. Every other bit of food I've had is mediocre - I'd rather order the same food at a different place that cooks it better. There's nothing really remarkable about the food or service, aside from the fact that it is nice that you can always be sure you'll get the same of both at EVERY location you visit. Also, this place is a pain in the butt to get into and out of.

Me and the SO stopped in here on our way back South from a long weekend home. We came in a little after 1 pm, so the later lunch crowd was still eating. We sat in the bar area and it took forever to get waited on, take our order and then get our food. I was watching others around us getting alot quicker service. And they couldn't even get my order correct - brought me the wrong soup. We tend to stop at Applebee's all over, and this one is not one of the better ones.

OMG grey potato chips and wing with weird black debris all over them. UGH I'd never eat here for sure. Drank my beer and bailed for home and hubby! Without a doubt the worst Applebee's I have ever been in. No words can describe the horror or the grey potato chips or the back debris all over my wings. Both went back and I went hungry.

I've came here a few times and have always seemed to get pretty good service. I've never had an issue with the food or service, but the beer prices can be kind of pricey for my taste. Overall, it's a good environment.

If you've eaten at one Applesbee's you've eaten em all. Its decent food at a decent price but the menu constantly changes. The only thing that stays remotely the same is the appetizer menu. The spinach and artichoke dip is some of my favorite out there but as far as the other food goes.....I've had better.

So ate here when we got in... It's late nite, and after flying in from San Fran, and not finding (a-hem) any Asian places, Applebee's was the only familiar place us City kids knew... (Ok, we're not Kids, but hey we are from the City and we're Chinese, and we still look younger than we really are...) It's typical Applebee's food, but when we walked in, I think we were the only Asians there... And the minute we walked in and sat down, myself, my brother and our 2 cousins each pulled out our techie gadgets and either texting, checking-in, via yelp of course, or reading e-mails... I think we were being stared at... I mean, I guess we kinda stuck out like sore thumbs... All in all though, like I said, standard Applebee's food, and at 11 pm in the evening, after flying most of the evening, anything was good at that point...
