Love this place. Not Chicago-style dogs, but still great. I've been going here for years and have even been lucky to catch random menu items that aren't come and go, like their veggie tacos. Chili Dog is probably my favorite, though it is a mess!

I've lived in Lockport since 1998 and have had the chance to stop in at Pete's several times over the years on my way in to work in the afternoon. I always had wonderful customer service from the 2 "usual guys" standing behind the counter, and the food was OK, not stellar, but decent. But then, one Tuesday, I had the VERY UNFORTUNATE luck of having the OWNER standing behind the cash register. This man, is a complete JERK! I order the same thing every time I walk in. It comes to $3.50.. I hand him my debit card and he points to the new little sign on the glass that states there is a $5.00 minimum for debit and credit card purchases. I have no cash on me, so I tell him to just run my card for $5 then. He seems a little taken a back by this, and he starts tap, tap, tapping away on the register, and I say to him, "Can't you just run it for $5?" He say "I will but I want my register and credit machine to balance." Having worked in customer service my whole life, I completely understand this and I nod my head in understanding and I'm just standing there waiting. After about 35-40 seconds, he looks up at me and says, "OK, that will be $5.52" I say "NO, ITS $5.. My food comes to $3.50. I'm willing to pay the extra because I have no cash, its $5." Then do you want to know what he said to me... TO MY FACE?! He said, and I quote " Just give me your damn card so you can quit yer bitchin." I WAS SHOCKED!!!!!! I was in no way upset over the extra dollar 50 I had to pay, I waited patiently for him to fumble his way through the cash register without saying a word to this man. After he said that to me, I gave him quite a tongue lashing on customer service and proper treatment of the people who keep his business up and running. And proceeded to tell the lady who walked in after me what had happened so she knew that she was about to give a business owner that calls his customers names her hard earned money. Needless to say, I will never step foot in Pete's Hot Dogs again.

Every town needs a good hot dog joint and this is the one in Lockport. Simple food, fast and hot made just the way you like it. I get my dogs with mustard, relish and onions. The fries are also first rate, the crispy crinkle type, and if you prefer chips like my old boss Bill Howard, they have several types to choose from.

Stopped in on the way to a Little League tournament. Awesome place to take the kids! And plenty for adults to choose from too!

After driving by this place on the way to the casino several times, I thought I would check this place out. Thanks to my cell phone and Yelp, it looked like a place worth stopping in. I should have read the one review a little more than just looking at the rating. These are probably the worst hot dogs I have in quite a while. The hot dog looked almost pale sitting in the bun and due the load of onions piled on, could not even taste the dog. Also the fries that came with the special, were of the frozen kind, that were over cooked and too salty. You can read Laura A.'s review to see what was wrong if you were looking for a "Chicago Dog". The only I can say positive about the place is that service is quick and the dining area was clean.

This will be my strangest, most biased review past, present, or future. No, this is not my business nor am I acquainted with the owners. It's just quite possibly my favorite little hot dog stand of all time. Hot dog purists or snobs beware, this is not the place for you. This is my tribute to Pete's. I didn't even know this place had a name until I noticed the employees t-shirts in recent years. No name on the outside. Just neon signs I believe. "Open", and maybe "Hot Dogs". My first hot dog eaten outside the home as a wee-one probably came from here about 35 years ago. And honestly, I don't think they have ever changed a thing, thank goodness. There is nothing "Chicago" about these hot dogs. The dogs themselves are skinless and not overly seasoned like ubiquitous Vienna's can be. Everything is mustard, relish, onion, and tomato. No pickle. No sport pepper. No celery salt. No poppy seed bun. Delicious simplicity. Their crinkle fries are still awesome, and I'm guessing fried in something loaded with trans-fats since they're so tasty. They have some other stuff on the limited menu, but I honestly couldn't say what. I'm just thankful when I can get back there every couple of years or so. I have insisted upon taking other people there over the years when passing through town, and I don't think anybody has come even close to sharing my enthusiasm. People are highly unimpressed. But that's ok. More hot dogs for me. :)
