This was my first time going to Egg Harbor. I was really excited because I always see people posting pictures from this place and rambling about how good it is. Honestly, I thought this place was just alright. I'm giving this place three stars because I liked the atmosphere and the service, but if it was solely based on food I would only give this place two stars. The ambiance is nice and has a quaint feel to it. We sat outside since it was hot out - it was shaded and there were also fans to keep a comfortable temperature. Two people were there to greet us at the door. Our waiter was very attentive and funny! I had a lot of questions since it was my first time, and he was really patient in answering all of them. I had the Barrington Benedict (I love eggs benedicts). One of my eggs seemingly wasn't poached but rather cooked over easy. The benedict that was intact was simply okay. I had potatoes on the side that I could swear were refried - my boyfriend would explain them as the potatoes that were burnt stuck to the bottom of the pan. I also had a free pancake since I checked in on Yelp! I enjoyed the pancake. It was a little thing but it was very light and airy. My beverage was the coconut coffee since the waiter recommended it. Even though I was skeptical about coconut and coffee together, I found this really delightful. You could taste the hints of coconut in it, and it paired perfectly with the pancake! My overall experience was just okay. Yay for the service and yay for the experience, but nay on the food.

I've been to many breakfast spots across the country, but no one compares to Egg Harbor. The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. All of the country decorations make you feel at ease and happy. The staff there is very friendly and serve you quickly and with a smile. The food is nothing short of amazing. I have never been disappointed by anything on their menu. As for my favorite dishes, try their cinnamon bun French toast. It's extremely unhealthy, but so worth it. If you are looking for something a little lighter in taste but still savory, try their lemon poppyseed pancakes. I just tried them for the very first time today and they blew my mind. So good. I highly recommend grabbing breakfast or brunch here with your friends and/or family members!

It's solid here, good egg options. I wasn't impressed by the pancakes and I saw the maple syrup was extra so it made me feel some type of way. In a land of big chains it's good to have a smaller chain that gives you a Midwestern feel.

My Husband and I have been here several times. It's lovely. The food is great, the service is excellent and it's a nice atmosphere inside or out. The wait times are a little long on a Sunday but it's really just a nice place that is not inundated with degenerates which is always a good thing.
Yum! 5 star food, 5 star service, 5 star location and 5 star ambiance. Come and see for yourself. If you are lucky, you'll get Colton as your server.

I loved the whole experience. Free Intelligentsia coffee right when you walk through the doors, only waited 25 minutes during a rush hour, very exuberant staff. I ordered the farmers eggs benedict, but had to order a side of Canadian bacon because I wanted meat in it. My friend ordered the Chorizo Chilaquile(sp) and that was delicious if you like cheese and meat. Even the toast and jelly it came with was superb. And I love their unique coffee mugs and the unlimited coffee. Try the raspberry buttered coffee!

I visited Egg Harbor for brunch one day. I got a bacon omelette which was mediocre and I didn't really finish it. I did, however, enjoy the coffee. The atmosphere was very family-friendy. We adore coming to this location, as all the servers and employees are very friendly and accommodating. The food is excellent, and if there's ever any issue, just ask and it will be taken care of without hesitation (i.e. if the coffee is lukewarm, they'll bring you a different steaming pot right away). Since we are vegetarian, we have subbed some of the meat items with veggies and they always oblige. They don't hesitate to sub with a different type of pancake or french toast alongside your meal if you aren't a fan of what it comes with. As stated before, the servers are very friendly, and don't bother you while you're eating. They come by enough to check on your drinks, make sure the food is delicious and to bring you extra condiments or sugar packets or anything else you may need. My only recommendation - they have a smallish indoor waiting area, so it would be helpful to have their outdoor waiting area heaters turned for their customers during the winter months!

I had an unusually bad experience on my most recent visit to egg harbor in Libertyville. My mom and I had brunch before a busy, time crunched day. Everything was great and food was fantastic. We were seated promptly and everyone was friendly. I got the skillet combo and a milk and my mom got an iced tea, a fruit cup, and an english muffin. Our bill was just over $30! Based on tax and menu cost, it should have been around $20. We thought it was too high, but we didn't have time to ask our server about it. When we went to go pay the bill and that is where the experience became negative. So we give the cashier our receipt to pay, he struggles with it and says he'll get his manager. His manager comes and spends about 10-15 minutes punching all kind of buttons and switching computers, trying to figure out what is wrong with the check. I added up what we ate, they overcharged us about $7. The manager didn't way a word to us in this ten minute span of her trying to make what we ordered add up to $30. She completed the transaction as if something sketchy, like her overcharging us, didn't just happen. It was completely unprofessional and frustrating. It would have been faster and easier to just charge us for what we ordered. We did not have the time to argue about our bill because we had to go to settle my mom's parents estate in Lake Geneva, which is already time consuming and emotinally stressful. Egg harbor has great food and an awesome ambiance, but the management was really unimpressive and made our experience negative. We probably will go elsewhere for breakfast/brunch in the future, which is kind of sad because the banana bread french toast is great! This review will hopefully be seen by management, so they can make steps towards improving the customer experience.

I always love Egg Harbor. My go-to order is a skillet with ham/mushroom and a fried egg on top, and then i switch out the banana bread French toast for the cinnamon french toast. You can't go wrong with the Door County melt either!

There can be a short wait on weekend mornings but nothing too crazy. Make sure to take advantage of free parking in the parking garage because parking spots in the lot are limits and shared by other establishments.

This is a cute breakfast restaurant with a variety of dishes, from traditional breakfast fare (bacon/sausage/ham and eggs and pancakes) to frittatas to heart-healthy to Mexican-inspired entrees. (Plus the wait is much shorter than Wildberry down the street!) The staff is very accommodating and friendly. We came with a soccer team of twenty 10 year old boys, who all got a table to themselves. Everyone -- adults and kids alike -- enjoyed their meals. I had a Mexican-inspired breakfast (chorizo chilaquiles) which rivaled chilaquiles I've tasted at authentic Mexican restaurants (including some I've eaten at in actual Mexico and made by my actual Mexican friends). It was spiced just right and the portion was large. My son had a healthy yogurt-fruit-granola plate which he enjoyed (he liked it so much he didn't even miss his usual bacon, eggs, and pancakes). They also have really tasty and fresh fruit jelly rather than the pre-packaged kind. And the coffee is served in extra large mugs so you won't need frequent refills. Overall, a great breakfast experience, due to the variety, friendliness, atmosphere, and freshness/tastiness of the food. I will definitely try to visit one of their other locations.

I've lived in the area for over 11 years and I've always chosen to go to Wildberry in Libertyville, IHOP in VH, Walker Bros or Egg Harbor both in Lincolnshire. How in the world did I miss Egg Harbor in Libertyville??!! I met a friend yesterday morning for brunch around 9:30. As expected, there were a lot of people waiting to get seated. I thought it would be at least 20-30 minutes to get a table. Nope-Only 10 minutes!! I have to say, I really like the ambiance of this Egg Harbor vs. both the Lincolnshire and Lake Forest location. it's very bright and open. I felt very at-home. Our server was very nice. Told us the specials and took our drink orders right away. My friend had coffee. I chose the strawberry OJ (yum!) He came back a few minutes later and took our orders. My friend had the veggie power skillet. I wanted carbs and veggies and when I looked at the menu, I was happy to see that there was an eggceptional skillet combo (smaller version of the skillet plus a banana bread french toast and fresh fruit on the side), to hit both cravings. I ordered the veggie power skillet to complement the banana bread french toast. The order came out about 15 minutes later and boy, I was so impressed!! The veggie power skillet came out piping hot-It had sweet potatoes, black beans, red peppers, broccoli, and avocado (which I nixed since I'm allergic :( ). The banana bread french toast was phenomenal. The size of this combo was perfect-not too big or too small. I'm so thrilled I have a new/familiar place with wonderful food and staff to take guests to that's closer to where I live!

Was in the area for Navy boot camp graduation. My graduate wanted to try a different place for breakfast this particular morning. Bad idea. We waited only 10 minutes to be seated. The items of the menu looked intriguing. Our waitress was friendly and greeted us in a timely manner. That was the end of our plesant experience. We waited another 10 minutes to receive our drink order which was incomplete. The waitress took our food order and after 35 minutes I called her to our table to inform her the customers who sat next to us and were seatted after us had already received their food. My party was only 2 people and the other party next to us was a party of 6. She checked in the kitchen and came back with two small cups of fruit for us to eat while still waiting for our food. (yuk) We waited another 15 minutes before I food finally arrived at our table. My daughter had to wait another 7 minutes for the waitress to bring her some syrup for her pancakes after we called her over. I would have left if it wasn't for my hungy sailor who didnt want to go hunting for another breakfast spot as it was now after 11. Will not come back when I am in town.

This place went above and beyond my expectations. There usually is a little wait to get in, but it's worth it. The staff is extremely friendly. They have flavored coffee which I would definitely recommend. The food came out extremely quickly, but you could tell it was made to order. Don't let the decor fool you, Egg Harbor more than makes up for it with it's fantastic breakfast. I ordered the Winter in Italy French toast and didn't leave a crumb on the plate! Delicious. I also ordered a side of two eggs over easy which were perfectly cooked. (impressed!!) The cafeteria plates and outdated decor give way to some delectable food. The hostess and the waitress were both helpful and pleasant. Highly recommend Egg Harbor if your looking for a great breakfast spot while in Libertyville! I'd compare it to some the best breakfasts I've ever had in Chicago or Los Angeles.

I tried this place a few times, and it just never hits the spot. The menu sounds amazing when you read the description of each item. The visual presentation makes you want to drool at the sound of it. BUT the taste is sooo far off, and bland, and depending what you get the food could also be dry. There's other brunch places in libertyville that will satifisfy your pallette way better than egg harbor. If your not a big fan of flavor or like subtle flavoring (watching your sodium, sugar, spice intake) than you might want to visit here. But if not I would advise elsewhere. I love this place. They have a large outdoor seating area where they allow you to bring your dog which I think is fun. This restaurant is typically packed on weekends but wait times aren't bad. The service is always good. I love that they have French Toast and Waffle combos. They'll make a slice of French Toast or 1/2 a waffle plus meat and potatoes. No other place I'm aware of will do these specific combos and it's the perfect amount if everything, maybe even too much. They have good coffee too. My family and I were excited to try this location after eating at the Barrington location a few months ago. Unfortunately, this visit to Egg Harbor proved to be extraordinarily disappointing for a multitude of reasons but mainly because I found a short, black HAIR in my food. In addition to that, the wait time was extremely long, and the hostess and front door staff were entirely unwelcoming, and borderline rude. If a visible piece of hair is permitted to leave the kitchen on a plate, I can't even imagine what sort of seemingly invisible contaminants are also served to customers. My meal was removed from the bill from our waiter, but the floor manager didn't seem to care as he couldn't be bothered to personally apologize for his staff's substandard food safety practices. It makes me wonder how frequent this happens if it goes unacknowledged by management. I strongly suggest that you avoid this location if the prospect of contracting a food borne illness scares you!

This is a very popular spot with the locals which is why you will likely have to wait to be seated. I love that you can eat outdoors in nice weather and even bring your dog. Breakfasts are great, good coffee, daily specials, friendly staff, and nice casual atmosphere. There are two drawbacks in my opinion: 1. It's noisy, but being in a booth helps with that. 2. They really need to have a retractable shade on the east windows. The sun is hot and blinding if you are seated on that side of the restaurant. It's happened to me several times, and I can't figure out why they haven't taken care of it. Still, definitely try this place, just be careful where you sit.

Who said the first meal of the day couldn't be a gourmet dining experience...Yes it can! This place serves insanely delicious "made to order" breakfast delights that will have you leaving feeling intoxicated from food overload. The service is also equally exceptional. Even the coffee was delicious. We had a party of six & everyone ordered something different to sample. The presentation was beautiful & I sampled everyone's plate. OMG-DELICIOUS!!! Each & every one. Two people stated the grits were the best they've ever had (one being a southern boy) & I must concur. My dish, Farmer's Market Benedict", came with Harbor potatoes, which were fantastic. One of our party sampled them & immediately put in a side order for themselves. This was possibly the best twist on Egg's Benedict I have ever eaten. Like eyes rolling to the back of my head good. Other delights ordered were 2 Georgia Cheese Grits & Eggs (one w/out jalapeños & onions), Sir Dugan Frittata, GF Dynamite Veggie White Omelette (stated to be the best omelette she had ever had) and Autumn In Italy French Toast (breakfast & dessert rolled into one). Another eye rolling experience was the above mentioned Autumn In Italy French Toast. 3 of us had the strawberry orange juice which was mmmm, mmmmmmmm-lishhhh. On weekends I would suggest getting there early to beat the crowds. Don't fret if you don't because they serve free Intelligentsia coffee for those waiting for a table. I would Highly recommend this establishment for breakfast. Forget Wild Berries down the street, unless you want commercial food that is bland. Yes, yes I just did. :-) Egg Harbor Cafe gets 2, no, 3 snaps & an around the world. LOVED IT!

I never would have found this place if it wasn't for Yelp. This is a great breakfast place. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and would have only wanted more sausage in the gravy. The biscuits were wonderfully soft, but I regret not ordering an omlette. The pancakes were huge and delicious. The kids menu is well priced and it comes with alot. If you stop at Wildberry's and the wait is longer than you like, don't worry there is a better spot just down the road called Egg Harbor Cafe.

It had been 10 years at least before I stopped in at Egg Harbor Cafe. I love the decor, takes you away to a vacation place. The pancakes were the size of tire rims - - - they were huge. And they were really delicious. My husband liked what he ordered also (fried eggs, hash browns and their famous potatoes). I am a Tea drinker and it was nice to get my own tea pot with good quality tea. My husband ordered coffee and he had his own coffee pot at the table. They also leave you with a pitcher of water so you are never looking for someone to fill your glass. I can't forget to mention that the mugs are awesome. Here's a great "Perk," they can even give you a 'coffee to go.' How cool is that? There is a sign by the cash register that states if anyone leaves their children unattended will be given a lot of sugar and a puppy to take home with them. Very funny. Great place for family also.

Egg Harbor was delicious and light. With Wildberry just down the street, Egg Harbor has a shorter line but more expensive portions as in for the same price the food will last one meal (which it should) but comparatively it is more limited. In any case I got the Geneva Rosti which was pretty much a flat omelete of two eggs, bacon, onion, and hash browns with a layer of cheese and sour cream on top. It was served with buttered english muffin and fresh fruit. My friend got the Eggs Benedict which was delicious, it came with some mandarin oranges and a side of chopped potatoes that were baked until crispy, so it was not greasy at all. We were able to split the dishes and leave with a completely full stomach. I thoroughly enjoyed both delishes and the service was very attentive and friendly.

We are newer to the area and my husband's siblings were in town. We tried to go to the breakfast spot we have been frequenting since we moved here, but the wait was crazy and Egg Harbor allowed us to call in advance. From the outside, it looked like another little downtown dining venue. Inside, I was pleasantly surprised. The decor and seating is so incredibly inviting. Every detail, down to the neat coffee mugs made for an awesome experience (Intelegentsia coffee- BONUS!). Every employee we encountered was so wonderful. Warm and welcoming. We let them know it was our first time visiting and they went above and beyond to welcome us and inquire how we were enjoying our experience. In an area so overrun with dining options, service is a GIANT factor in choosing a return spot. Based on service alone, I could eat here every day. The food - what can I say. It was superb. I ordered the lobster scramble which came with a buttered English muffin (with homemade preserves) and harbor potatoes. I could eat that meal every day of my life and be ecstatic. Every person at our table swooned over their meals. Perfect portions for the price and unbeatable taste. My biggest complaint at breakfast restaurants is always the potatoes - under seasoned, overdone, undercooked... Always some fault. Today was the first time that I can actually remember truly enjoying breakfast potatoes at a diner. Way to go, Egg Harbor Libertyville. You have gained lifetime patrons today. I love learning new things..for example, apparently my boyfriend practically lives at Egg Harbor Cafe and is familiar with the entire menu. I finally went with him and a group of friends on Saturday morning and now I understand why he comes here all the time. I followed his advice and we shared a corned beef skillet and lobster scrambler. He also insisted that everyone at the table order a "Shawna's Sun Up" which is basically a yogurt parfait. Everything was delicious! My only complaint would be that they completely forgot to put an egg on our corned beef skillet. Other than that, I ate everything on my plate and still wanted more. I enjoyed my parfait so much I purchased the ingredients so I could make them at home.

October just isn't good enough if I don't get my fix of pumpkin pancakes from Egg Harbor. I came in on a Monday morning after attending a live taping of Mike and Mike at Austin's. With three hours to spare before starting work, I went for my fix. I was sat promptly and given my choice of a table or a booth, that's always a nice choice to have. Oh, before the food, I have to mention the large orange-strawberry juice. It tastes so fresh and so healthy. And since I don't touch coffee, the quality of fruit juice makes a huge difference in what I think of a breakfast place. I'd drink a whole carafe of it if it was a little bit cheaper! I got the pumpkin pancake combo with scrambled eggs and turkey bacon. I got three smaller cakes, a little bit bigger than silver dollar pancakes. They were stacked with a scoop of cinnamon-infused butter on top with whipped cream. Need I go on? I will though. The cakes are filled with chopped pecans, which is a great complement to the sweetness. And the eggs came out yellow, not runny or overdone. But the turkey bacon impressed me too. They didn't taste like bland breakfast meat, the three strips were a decently large size and they actually had a nice smoky flavor too I usually go to the Geneva or Wheaton locations, but this one turned out to be just as good. There's just no better breakfast joint in Chicagoland.

Boy, these folks who run the Egg Harbor Cafe franchise really have the *formula* down. This is the third Egg Harbor Cafe I've been to and each one is great. Good food, lots of good coffee and great service. Two things that really stand out for me: -- I am on a diet and am supposed to avoid wheat products. When I told my server to skip the English Muffin that came with my selection, she asked if I would like a fruit cup in its place. I would have been fine just doing without the muffin, but the offer of the fruit cup was certainly appreciated (and the fresh fruit was delicious too!) -- Although many places offer refills on coffee during your meal, Egg Harbor Cafe is the only place I've ever been to that gives you a 'to go' cup filled with coffee as you leave. (And, don't forget, they serve Intelligentsia coffee! :-) Regardless of the location, Egg Harbor Cafe is as good as it gets for a nice breakfast.

I'm a fan of Egg Harbor Cafe and have eaten at their location in Lincolnshire several times. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place since we did not want to spend a long time waiting for brunch at another breakfast place in the area. We got there early enough and beat out the brunch rush. The wait for the table was reasonable. Service, at first, was somewhat slow, but picked up. Our server was friendly as well. I had the lemon bread french toast (advertised as a special) and my boyfriend had a spicy omelette. The food tasted great, the coffee was brewed perfectly (they serve Intelligentsia!) and the prices are very reasonable. In terms of their menu, there are so many things to eat and the menu changes regularly. Also, the Libertyville location is located in the downtown area so you can walk around the cute shops in the area if you want to walk off your brunch!

My friends and I enjoy coming here for our not-so-regular breakfast club outings. Service has always come with a smile, and they get extra points for being on top of keeping our carafes of coffee full and hot. (They will also offer to send you home with a drink-to-go!) We've never had a problem getting our food in a timely fashion, even on a Sunday morning for brunch. The food is hot, and if it's not to your liking they put the customer first. My potatoes came out a bit overdone and they took care of that without batting an eye. Family favorites: Farmer's Market Benedict. Door County Melt. Cinnamon Rolls. The food is consistent (which is my problem with Wildberry), and during the week we never feel rushed out, even when we linger into the lunch hour. They don't take reservations, but you can call ahead and get your name put on their waiting list. Definitely call ahead on weekend mornings.

I really, really love the food at Egg Harbor and I would absolutely say it is one of the best breakfast / lunch places around town. If you haven't been here, it is definitely a good, safe bet for food. I recommend going before 9am to beat the rush. That said, the food is awesome, but the coffee is HORRID. I really, really wish they would re-evaluate what they are serving and/or how they are brewing because for me, coffee is so important with my bacon and eggs (or fancy Egg Harbor dish of choice). Unfortunately, I often opt to go to their competitor's down the street because they too have awesome food, but slightly better coffee (but still not great coffee! Grrr). Also, this place is very popular with the locals and there is always a wait not to mention a high noise level. Be prepared to sit it out (uncomfortably) for 10-30 minutes. The lobby is very small and it's a little rough to be jammed in there with all of the screaming children and cackling middle aged people. Egg Harbor: Vamp up your coffee and I'll gladly give you 4 stars!

Egg harbor had the best biscuits and gravy I have ever had, seriously. Unfortunately, I live out of state, but if I were a local I'd make this place one of my regular stops. This was a generous portion (I couldn't even finish it all) alongside potatoes that I asked to be well done, and they came out cooked to perfection. Attentive staff, homey decor--can't wait to return next year!

Great place. I've been going every Friday morning this Summer. The staff is nice and friendly and remember you and what you like. They make great recommendations when asked and are honest about other dishes that they are not fond of. They make sure to get you everything you need to enjoy your meal and come by and check on you regularly. The prices are fair and parking is easy in the rear.

Best breakfast and lunch around!! It's a quaint restaurant with great service and awesome breakfast and lunch food. One of my favorites is the Santa Fe roll up. It's a flour tortilla stuffed with yummy chicken salad and topped with cheese and salsa. It comes with a salad topped with jalapeno poppy seed dressing that looks unusual (it's green) but it is so tasty and fried potatoes as well. You gotta go!

Egg Harbor in Libertyville is a great family-friendly place for breakfast or lunch, though if you plan on dining there over the weekend, it would be to your benefit to call ahead to request to have your your name placed on its Waiting List, so you may be seated shortly after arriving at an agreed time. A friend and I lunched there the other day, and though my Chicken Black Bean Chile with Corn Bread was served hot and tasted great as usual, my table mate's egg, spinach and mushroom crepes ("Popeye"?) were not up to usual par ... which brings us to the strength of Egg Harbor in Libertyville. When our waitress inquired if we were happy with our meal and and my table mate complained about how her crepes were prepared (their content was greasy), our waitress readily apologized, explained that there was supervised training occurring in-kitchen that day, and she would gladly place another order which would be cooked by an experienced chef. She took the crepes away, and quickly returned with a fruit cup for my table mate, so she may have something to eat as she waited. While the new meal was not greasy, and its taste was 'on', the texture of the eggs was off. My table mate noted that the cream cheese in the eggs was not allowed to melt. However, the flaw did not merit return of the meal. A supervising waitress, who struck as a genuinely pleasant person, stopped by our table to inquire about the new meal, and affirmed my table mates' observation as legitimate; and though the meal was edible in spite of the noted texture issue, the supervising waitress still offered her sincere regrets and she also 'comped' the meal (its charge waived), because the meal was not up to Egg Harbor standard. THAT, folks, is responsive, top notch customer service, which could not possibly have been better, because it was responsibly and graciously offered with no excuses! As long as humans are involved, errors will be bound to happen, BUT to Egg Harbor's credit, its wait staff and management team are quite clearly dedicated to offering positive solutions. It is why Egg Harbor-Libertyville rates 5 Stars in spite of the problem we encountered. It reminded us that there still are businesses, like Egg Harbor-Libertyville, that value their customers, and demonstrate it through offering quality goods and services. (I should add that what I referenced was the only problem of any kind that I or a table mate ever encountered over the years we have dined there.)

Umm... GROSS. I ordered my favorite breakfast dish Corned Beef Hash with great anticipation. After having ordered this Sunday morning staple at dozens of places over the past couple decades I suppose I fashion myself as a connosieur of sorts. Never, until this morning, have I had CB hash the consistency of baby food. Seriously, it was like they put all the ingredients in a blender - disgusting! I couldn't even finish it. When the server checked in on us and we let her know, she responded, "I'll let them know in the kitchen for next time." That's it. Ugh. With Wildberry Cafe up the street, the choice is easy for me. Wildberry crushes the Harbor. Actually, even Denny's is better. Sorry, I really wanted to like this place, but I'm never going back to Egg Harbor.

This is a great brunch place. The omelettes are excellent. I highly recommend the Avocado and Bacon with salsa and sour cream. It has a very interesting mix of flavors. The English muffin is perfectly toasted and the potatoes are a nice side compliment. I have also had the chicken salad and it is really good. I agree with other reviewers that the coffee is not good and the wait is generally long on the weekend with a very small waiting area. If you are looking for brunch in the area, this is a classic.

No offense to my parents, who come here regularly, but Egg Harbor could stand for some improvements. This place is your somewhat-standard Sunday, after-church (or after sleeping in) brunch place. It's great for local families, with plenty of seating and a good kids menu. However, after several visits over the last couple of years, I came to the realization that Egg Harbor is ok, but could do a lot better. Service is usually pretty slow. My food last week came out cold. Eggs weren't served as ordered. (If your name starts with "egg" don't you think you'd be able to serve eggs over hard instead of over easy?) And when my parents asked after 20 minutes why I didn't send the order back, I said, "I might have if the server had ever come by after dropping off the plates." My suggestion? Head to Wildberry a few minutes north. You'll pay a bit more, but the food and service are generally much better. Sorry, Egg Harbor.

I am a little *shocked* by the less than four-star reviews for this establishement. At the same time, I appreciate, "to each his own" experience. I have always appreciated the good to great service I've received. And frankly, in Lake County, I've not had better brunch experiences with respect to food. And I consider myself more adventurous than most people. I love the fried green tomato benedict, to the point of wishing Egg Harbor would be open later, for early dinner. The lobster salad sandwhich is a force to reckon with. The Door County chicken salad is luscious. My newer fave is the sweet potato waffle with pecans (no syrup necessary, because it's good on its own). When my family visits, this establishment beats other hands down for brunch, two to one. (My dad is the holdout, and he often orders 2 eggs and toast. . . . not really imaginative, but always served with a smile.) I also like the accommodation for dogs on the patio, even though I don't take full advantage of it every visit. To persons looking at yelp reviewes, do not be daunted. I believe you'll have a positive experience here.

This perfect addition to downtown Libertyville is going to give Wildberry's up the road a run for their money. Fresh, delightful breakfast & brunch fare at reasonable prices. My inaugural lunch here consisted of a skillet with eggs, bacon & cheese topped with a dollop of sour cream. Perfect potatoes on the side (how are these not greasy at all?!), soft -with-crunchy-nooks-n-crannies muffin FTW. I *love* breakfast food. Tip: go the extra dollar and get the fresh squeezed OJ with strawberry juice. Mmmm MMM. Parking (still under construction) is a nightmare, but if you can find a space, this place is worth the hassle.

Nothing really that jumped out at me saying this place was something special. It's a nice brunch spot though. The people seemed nice, but come on...if you seat us and there's a pitcher of water there, be courteous enough to fill our glasses. Please? I flipped to a page on the menu and instantly saw the Lobster Melt and decided there was no need to look on. The sandwich was pretty good. If there was one thing I would've changed, I would asked them to cut back on the cheese. The salad & potatoes that came with were pretty good.

We went here and got a late breakfast/early lunch. Sat right down and the server was friendly and fast enough. I had a delicious glass of strawberry orange juice, which they appear to make in house. Wife had red velvet french toast which she really enjoyed, and I had apple caramel crepes, which were almost like a dessert. Three crepes with whipped cream and filled with apples with cinnamon and walnuts. They were very tasty and a nice departure from your standard eggs and pancakes offerings. Overall it was tasty and good, although no breakfast place has blown me away enough to make me crave to return the next day, so...4 stars.

Noisy. Noisy as in beyond normal breakfast restaurant level noise. Music does not need to be that loud on a Sunday morning. Parents. How about paying attention to your children who think screaming is a normal conversation volume? And seriously, the restaurant's solution to this is to send a balloon maker over to that table and stand behind a baby and scare him with his loud air tank. Dumb. Just dumb. Pushy waitress who ignored our table after she took our order. Food was okay. Nothing special. Not worth the noise and the headache. I'm going to stick with Wildberry.

Another great brunch type place with a relaxed atmosphere off the beaten path of the competition down the street. Great good, portions and reasonable prices right in downtown Libertyville which is always a big plus. Nice outside seating for those warm summer mornings. I just returned from meeting a friend for breakfast at Egg Harbor. I have been to this restaurant and the one in Lake Forest and Lake Geneva. I felt that the Libertyville location doesn't aspire to the high standards that it used to. My friend and I both ordered the oatmeal that came with an English muffin. The muffins arrived burnt on the edges, most likely from being run under a broiler. When I picked mine up to put it on a plate to give back to the waitress, there was a short, dark, curly hair under it. We told the waitress who brought me a new plate (and muffins). When we checked out, the manager asked us how everything was. My friend told him about the hair and his response was, "Did you tell your server?" Then he left. The girl who stepped forward to handle our transaction said that he went to talk to the kitchen staff. I felt that an apology would have been nice, but I felt that a very casual approach was taken. Needless to say, I keep thinking about that hair, should have just left, but will not be back to this location again.

Wow. This is the best breakfast place I have been to. Walker Bros. , Wildberry's ....this is right at the top! Best Biscuits and Gravy I have ever had (and that is saying something!). The coffee was pretty good, also. They even offer to get you a drink to go when you are done with your meal (at no addtl. cost). Service was great and our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. With the quality of breakfast I thought I was looking at a $30 bill for breakfast (2 people) but it was only $19. GREAT VALUE! Food came up rather quick as well. The decor is excellent. Nice cozy breakfast place. I highly recommend!

It was the talk of the town that this place was coming. However, I have been there twice and it wasn't the best. The food is ok, but it is kind of bland. The serive isn't very good. The staff is very nice, but they constantly forget things. One time I went there someone I was there's food it was cold. She asked the waitress to warm it up and it took like 20 minutes and the place wasn't that crowded. Definitely not the best breakfast place in Libertyvile, not even 3rd. I would say Liberty, Wildberry, Townee, then Egg Harbor.

The egg dishes are very good here. However their pancakes are dreadful. Their coffee is far too strong for me. Bring in a Starbucks from across the street. All and all it is a decent breakfast place. However You can get eggs, far better pancakes and bacon for about $2 less at Wildberry's about a mile north and Wildberry's will throw in a cup of fruit or hash browns (your choice). I prefer Wildberry's coffee.

I've been to Egg Harbor about 4 times now, and I feel as if it's time to finally write a review for the place. In all honesty, Egg Harbor is a very nice place to get breakfast. It has a very warm, welcoming, laid back-type of feel. It also seems to always be busy, but not so busy as you have to wait for an hour for a table. The food here is usually very good. It's solid breakfast food for a solid price. I usually get either a skillet or some form of sweet breakfast, like a pancake or french toast. The menu is so large that it can be difficult to choose from all the great options! The method of payment is kinda confusing, as you bring your check up to the cashier in the front of the house, rather than letting your waiter handle everything, but once you get it the first time, it becomes routine. Overall, Egg Harbor offers a great environment to sit back and enjoy a nice breakfast. It won't change your life, but it will certainly make an impression.

My recent experience at egg harbor was average. When I got there, I was greeted by someone at the front. I asked for a booth seat and I was lead to a small space in the way corner of the restaurant. There were bigger booths available, so I was disappointed that I got a small space for three people when I saw two people sitting in the bigger ones later on. I got the pesto frittata and chili and my friend got a half Benedict and my other friend got vegetarian soup. The frittata was great! I wish there were more vegetables in it, but it was a good portion and I'm not complaining. The chili was salty. It was OK. My friends loved the potatoes. I had to wait a while for the check and they didn't really check on us (probably because we were way in the corner). I understand because they were busy and I know that waitressing can get hectic. Overall the ambience is nice, the employees are really pleasant, and the food is alright. I tried it twice and both times I didn't think anything special about the food. I will try again and see how I like it.

This was my first time going to Egg Harbor. I was really excited because I always see people posting pictures from this place and rambling about how good it is. Honestly, I thought this place was just alright. I'm giving this place three stars because I liked the atmosphere and the service, but if it was solely based on food I would only give this place two stars. The ambiance is nice and has a quaint feel to it. We sat outside since it was hot out - it was shaded and there were also fans to keep a comfortable temperature. Two people were there to greet us at the door. Our waiter was very attentive and funny! I had a lot of questions since it was my first time, and he was really patient in answering all of them. I had the Barrington Benedict (I love eggs benedicts). One of my eggs seemingly wasn't poached but rather cooked over easy. The benedict that was intact was simply okay. I had potatoes on the side that I could swear were refried - my boyfriend would explain them as the potatoes that were burnt stuck to the bottom of the pan. I also had a free pancake since I checked in on Yelp! I enjoyed the pancake. It was a little thing but it was very light and airy. My beverage was the coconut coffee since the waiter recommended it. Even though I was skeptical about coconut and coffee together, I found this really delightful. You could taste the hints of coconut in it, and it paired perfectly with the pancake! My overall experience was just okay. Yay for the service and yay for the experience, but nay on the food.

I've been to many breakfast spots across the country, but no one compares to Egg Harbor. The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. All of the country decorations make you feel at ease and happy. The staff there is very friendly and serve you quickly and with a smile. The food is nothing short of amazing. I have never been disappointed by anything on their menu. As for my favorite dishes, try their cinnamon bun French toast. It's extremely unhealthy, but so worth it. If you are looking for something a little lighter in taste but still savory, try their lemon poppyseed pancakes. I just tried them for the very first time today and they blew my mind. So good. I highly recommend grabbing breakfast or brunch here with your friends and/or family members!

Why wait an hour at a certain other brunch place when you can come to this lovely café where the wait around noon on a weekend is only about 15 minutes? I ordered the Mocha Java to start - half coffee/half hot chocolate=SO YUMMY! For my main, I followed in the footsteps of many other Yelpers here and ordered the Autumn in Italy French toast as a combo (2 eggs any style plus bacon or sausage). SO GOOD. If/when I come back here when I'm back in Librertyville I will definitely order it again!

I loved the whole experience. Free Intelligentsia coffee right when you walk through the doors, only waited 25 minutes during a rush hour, very exuberant staff. I ordered the farmers eggs benedict, but had to order a side of Canadian bacon because I wanted meat in it. My friend ordered the Chorizo Chilaquile(sp) and that was delicious if you like cheese and meat. Even the toast and jelly it came with was superb. And I love their unique coffee mugs and the unlimited coffee. Try the raspberry buttered coffee!

I visited Egg Harbor for brunch one day. I got a bacon omelette which was mediocre and I didn't really finish it. I did, however, enjoy the coffee. The atmosphere was very family-friendy. We adore coming to this location, as all the servers and employees are very friendly and accommodating. The food is excellent, and if there's ever any issue, just ask and it will be taken care of without hesitation (i.e. if the coffee is lukewarm, they'll bring you a different steaming pot right away). Since we are vegetarian, we have subbed some of the meat items with veggies and they always oblige. They don't hesitate to sub with a different type of pancake or french toast alongside your meal if you aren't a fan of what it comes with. As stated before, the servers are very friendly, and don't bother you while you're eating. They come by enough to check on your drinks, make sure the food is delicious and to bring you extra condiments or sugar packets or anything else you may need. My only recommendation - they have a smallish indoor waiting area, so it would be helpful to have their outdoor waiting area heaters turned for their customers during the winter months!

I had an unusually bad experience on my most recent visit to egg harbor in Libertyville. My mom and I had brunch before a busy, time crunched day. Everything was great and food was fantastic. We were seated promptly and everyone was friendly. I got the skillet combo and a milk and my mom got an iced tea, a fruit cup, and an english muffin. Our bill was just over $30! Based on tax and menu cost, it should have been around $20. We thought it was too high, but we didn't have time to ask our server about it. When we went to go pay the bill and that is where the experience became negative. So we give the cashier our receipt to pay, he struggles with it and says he'll get his manager. His manager comes and spends about 10-15 minutes punching all kind of buttons and switching computers, trying to figure out what is wrong with the check. I added up what we ate, they overcharged us about $7. The manager didn't way a word to us in this ten minute span of her trying to make what we ordered add up to $30. She completed the transaction as if something sketchy, like her overcharging us, didn't just happen. It was completely unprofessional and frustrating. It would have been faster and easier to just charge us for what we ordered. We did not have the time to argue about our bill because we had to go to settle my mom's parents estate in Lake Geneva, which is already time consuming and emotinally stressful. Egg harbor has great food and an awesome ambiance, but the management was really unimpressive and made our experience negative. We probably will go elsewhere for breakfast/brunch in the future, which is kind of sad because the banana bread french toast is great! This review will hopefully be seen by management, so they can make steps towards improving the customer experience.

There can be a short wait on weekend mornings but nothing too crazy. This is a cute breakfast restaurant with a variety of dishes, from traditional breakfast fare (bacon/sausage/ham and eggs and pancakes) to frittatas to heart-healthy to Mexican-inspired entrees. (Plus the wait is much shorter than Wildberry down the street!) The staff is very accommodating and friendly. We came with a soccer team of twenty 10 year old boys, who all got a table to themselves. Everyone -- adults and kids alike -- enjoyed their meals. I had a Mexican-inspired breakfast (chorizo chilaquiles) which rivaled chilaquiles I've tasted at authentic Mexican restaurants (including some I've eaten at in actual Mexico and made by my actual Mexican friends). It was spiced just right and the portion was large. My son had a healthy yogurt-fruit-granola plate which he enjoyed (he liked it so much he didn't even miss his usual bacon, eggs, and pancakes). They also have really tasty and fresh fruit jelly rather than the pre-packaged kind. And the coffee is served in extra large mugs so you won't need frequent refills. I've lived in the area for over 11 years and I've always chosen to go to Wildberry in Libertyville, IHOP in VH, Walker Bros or Egg Harbor both in Lincolnshire. How in the world did I miss Egg Harbor in Libertyville??!! I met a friend yesterday morning for brunch around 9:30. As expected, there were a lot of people waiting to get seated. I thought it would be at least 20-30 minutes to get a table. Nope-Only 10 minutes!! I have to say, I really like the ambiance of this Egg Harbor vs. both the Lincolnshire and Lake Forest location. it's very bright and open. I felt very at-home. Our server was very nice. Told us the specials and took our drink orders right away. My friend had coffee. I chose the strawberry OJ (yum!) He came back a few minutes later and took our orders. My friend had the veggie power skillet. I wanted carbs and veggies and when I looked at the menu, I was happy to see that there was an eggceptional skillet combo (smaller version of the skillet plus a banana bread french toast and fresh fruit on the side), to hit both cravings. I ordered the veggie power skillet to complement the banana bread french toast. The order came out about 15 minutes later and boy, I was so impressed!! The veggie power skillet came out piping hot-It had sweet potatoes, black beans, red peppers, broccoli, and avocado (which I nixed since I'm allergic :( ). The banana bread french toast was phenomenal. The size of this combo was perfect-not too big or too small. I'm so thrilled I have a new/familiar place with wonderful food and staff to take guests to that's closer to where I live!

Was in the area for Navy boot camp graduation. My graduate wanted to try a different place for breakfast this particular morning. Bad idea. We waited only 10 minutes to be seated. The items of the menu looked intriguing. Our waitress was friendly and greeted us in a timely manner. That was the end of our plesant experience. We waited another 10 minutes to receive our drink order which was incomplete. The waitress took our food order and after 35 minutes I called her to our table to inform her the customers who sat next to us and were seatted after us had already received their food. My party was only 2 people and the other party next to us was a party of 6. She checked in the kitchen and came back with two small cups of fruit for us to eat while still waiting for our food. (yuk) We waited another 15 minutes before I food finally arrived at our table. My daughter had to wait another 7 minutes for the waitress to bring her some syrup for her pancakes after we called her over. I would have left if it wasn't for my hungy sailor who didnt want to go hunting for another breakfast spot as it was now after 11. Will not come back when I am in town.

Don't let the decor fool you, Egg Harbor more than makes up for it with it's fantastic breakfast. I ordered the Winter in Italy French toast and didn't leave a crumb on the plate! Delicious. I also ordered a side of two eggs over easy which were perfectly cooked. (impressed!!) The cafeteria plates and outdated decor give way to some delectable food. The hostess and the waitress were both helpful and pleasant. Highly recommend Egg Harbor if your looking for a great breakfast spot while in Libertyville! I tried this place a few times, and it just never hits the spot. The menu sounds amazing when you read the description of each item. The visual presentation makes you want to drool at the sound of it. BUT the taste is sooo far off, and bland, and depending what you get the food could also be dry. There's other brunch places in libertyville that will satifisfy your pallette way better than egg harbor. If your not a big fan of flavor or like subtle flavoring (watching your sodium, sugar, spice intake) than you might want to visit here. But if not I would advise elsewhere. Overall staff is extremely friendly, food comes to the table at a reasonable time, good price to portion ratio.

I love this place. They have a large outdoor seating area where they allow you to bring your dog which I think is fun. This restaurant is typically packed on weekends but wait times aren't bad. The service is always good. I love that they have French Toast and Waffle combos. They'll make a slice of French Toast or 1/2 a waffle plus meat and potatoes. No other place I'm aware of will do these specific combos and it's the perfect amount if everything, maybe even too much. They have good coffee too. This is one of our favorite places for breakfast when we're in the area.

My family and I were excited to try this location after eating at the Barrington location a few months ago. Unfortunately, this visit to Egg Harbor proved to be extraordinarily disappointing for a multitude of reasons but mainly because I found a short, black HAIR in my food. In addition to that, the wait time was extremely long, and the hostess and front door staff were entirely unwelcoming, and borderline rude. If a visible piece of hair is permitted to leave the kitchen on a plate, I can't even imagine what sort of seemingly invisible contaminants are also served to customers. My meal was removed from the bill from our waiter, but the floor manager didn't seem to care as he couldn't be bothered to personally apologize for his staff's substandard food safety practices. It makes me wonder how frequent this happens if it goes unacknowledged by management. I strongly suggest that you avoid this location if the prospect of contracting a food borne illness scares you!

This is a very popular spot with the locals which is why you will likely have to wait to be seated. I love that you can eat outdoors in nice weather and even bring your dog. Breakfasts are great, good coffee, daily specials, friendly staff, and nice casual atmosphere. There are two drawbacks in my opinion: 1. It's noisy, but being in a booth helps with that. 2. They really need to have a retractable shade on the east windows. The sun is hot and blinding if you are seated on that side of the restaurant. It's happened to me several times, and I can't figure out why they haven't taken care of it. Still, definitely try this place, just be careful where you sit.

Who said the first meal of the day couldn't be a gourmet dining experience...Yes it can! This place serves insanely delicious "made to order" breakfast delights that will have you leaving feeling intoxicated from food overload. The service is also equally exceptional. Even the coffee was delicious. We had a party of six & everyone ordered something different to sample. The presentation was beautiful & I sampled everyone's plate. OMG-DELICIOUS!!! Each & every one. Two people stated the grits were the best they've ever had (one being a southern boy) & I must concur. My dish, Farmer's Market Benedict", came with Harbor potatoes, which were fantastic. One of our party sampled them & immediately put in a side order for themselves. This was possibly the best twist on Egg's Benedict I have ever eaten. Like eyes rolling to the back of my head good. Other delights ordered were 2 Georgia Cheese Grits & Eggs (one w/out jalapeños & onions), Sir Dugan Frittata, GF Dynamite Veggie White Omelette (stated to be the best omelette she had ever had) and Autumn In Italy French Toast (breakfast & dessert rolled into one). Another eye rolling experience was the above mentioned Autumn In Italy French Toast. 3 of us had the strawberry orange juice which was mmmm, mmmmmmmm-lishhhh. On weekends I would suggest getting there early to beat the crowds. Don't fret if you don't because they serve free Intelligentsia coffee for those waiting for a table. I would Highly recommend this establishment for breakfast. Forget Wild Berries down the street, unless you want commercial food that is bland. Yes, yes I just did. :-) Egg Harbor Cafe gets 2, no, 3 snaps & an around the world. LOVED IT!

I never would have found this place if it wasn't for Yelp. This is a great breakfast place. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and would have only wanted more sausage in the gravy. The biscuits were wonderfully soft, but I regret not ordering an omlette. The pancakes were huge and delicious. The kids menu is well priced and it comes with alot. If you stop at Wildberry's and the wait is longer than you like, don't worry there is a better spot just down the road called Egg Harbor Cafe.

It had been 10 years at least before I stopped in at Egg Harbor Cafe. I love the decor, takes you away to a vacation place. The pancakes were the size of tire rims - - - they were huge. And they were really delicious. My husband liked what he ordered also (fried eggs, hash browns and their famous potatoes). I am a Tea drinker and it was nice to get my own tea pot with good quality tea. My husband ordered coffee and he had his own coffee pot at the table. They also leave you with a pitcher of water so you are never looking for someone to fill your glass. I can't forget to mention that the mugs are awesome. Here's a great "Perk," they can even give you a 'coffee to go.' How cool is that? There is a sign by the cash register that states if anyone leaves their children unattended will be given a lot of sugar and a puppy to take home with them. Very funny. Great place for family also.

Egg Harbor was delicious and light. With Wildberry just down the street, Egg Harbor has a shorter line but more expensive portions as in for the same price the food will last one meal (which it should) but comparatively it is more limited. In any case I got the Geneva Rosti which was pretty much a flat omelete of two eggs, bacon, onion, and hash browns with a layer of cheese and sour cream on top. It was served with buttered english muffin and fresh fruit. My friend got the Eggs Benedict which was delicious, it came with some mandarin oranges and a side of chopped potatoes that were baked until crispy, so it was not greasy at all. We were able to split the dishes and leave with a completely full stomach. I thoroughly enjoyed both delishes and the service was very attentive and friendly.

We are newer to the area and my husband's siblings were in town. We tried to go to the breakfast spot we have been frequenting since we moved here, but the wait was crazy and Egg Harbor allowed us to call in advance. From the outside, it looked like another little downtown dining venue. Inside, I was pleasantly surprised. The decor and seating is so incredibly inviting. Every detail, down to the neat coffee mugs made for an awesome experience (Intelegentsia coffee- BONUS!). Every employee we encountered was so wonderful. Warm and welcoming. We let them know it was our first time visiting and they went above and beyond to welcome us and inquire how we were enjoying our experience. In an area so overrun with dining options, service is a GIANT factor in choosing a return spot. Based on service alone, I could eat here every day. The food - what can I say. It was superb. I ordered the lobster scramble which came with a buttered English muffin (with homemade preserves) and harbor potatoes. I could eat that meal every day of my life and be ecstatic. Every person at our table swooned over their meals. Perfect portions for the price and unbeatable taste. My biggest complaint at breakfast restaurants is always the potatoes - under seasoned, overdone, undercooked... Always some fault. Today was the first time that I can actually remember truly enjoying breakfast potatoes at a diner. Way to go, Egg Harbor Libertyville. You have gained lifetime patrons today. I love learning new things..for example, apparently my boyfriend practically lives at Egg Harbor Cafe and is familiar with the entire menu. I finally went with him and a group of friends on Saturday morning and now I understand why he comes here all the time. I followed his advice and we shared a corned beef skillet and lobster scrambler. He also insisted that everyone at the table order a "Shawna's Sun Up" which is basically a yogurt parfait. Everything was delicious! My only complaint would be that they completely forgot to put an egg on our corned beef skillet. Other than that, I ate everything on my plate and still wanted more. I enjoyed my parfait so much I purchased the ingredients so I could make them at home.

October just isn't good enough if I don't get my fix of pumpkin pancakes from Egg Harbor. I came in on a Monday morning after attending a live taping of Mike and Mike at Austin's. With three hours to spare before starting work, I went for my fix. I was sat promptly and given my choice of a table or a booth, that's always a nice choice to have. Oh, before the food, I have to mention the large orange-strawberry juice. It tastes so fresh and so healthy. And since I don't touch coffee, the quality of fruit juice makes a huge difference in what I think of a breakfast place. I'd drink a whole carafe of it if it was a little bit cheaper! I got the pumpkin pancake combo with scrambled eggs and turkey bacon. I got three smaller cakes, a little bit bigger than silver dollar pancakes. They were stacked with a scoop of cinnamon-infused butter on top with whipped cream. Need I go on? I will though. The cakes are filled with chopped pecans, which is a great complement to the sweetness. And the eggs came out yellow, not runny or overdone. But the turkey bacon impressed me too. They didn't taste like bland breakfast meat, the three strips were a decently large size and they actually had a nice smoky flavor too I usually go to the Geneva or Wheaton locations, but this one turned out to be just as good. There's just no better breakfast joint in Chicagoland.

Boy, these folks who run the Egg Harbor Cafe franchise really have the *formula* down. This is the third Egg Harbor Cafe I've been to and each one is great. Good food, lots of good coffee and great service. Two things that really stand out for me: -- I am on a diet and am supposed to avoid wheat products. When I told my server to skip the English Muffin that came with my selection, she asked if I would like a fruit cup in its place. I would have been fine just doing without the muffin, but the offer of the fruit cup was certainly appreciated (and the fresh fruit was delicious too!) -- Although many places offer refills on coffee during your meal, Egg Harbor Cafe is the only place I've ever been to that gives you a 'to go' cup filled with coffee as you leave. (And, don't forget, they serve Intelligentsia coffee! :-) Regardless of the location, Egg Harbor Cafe is as good as it gets for a nice breakfast.

I'm a fan of Egg Harbor Cafe and have eaten at their location in Lincolnshire several times. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place since we did not want to spend a long time waiting for brunch at another breakfast place in the area. We got there early enough and beat out the brunch rush. The wait for the table was reasonable. Service, at first, was somewhat slow, but picked up. Our server was friendly as well. I had the lemon bread french toast (advertised as a special) and my boyfriend had a spicy omelette. The food tasted great, the coffee was brewed perfectly (they serve Intelligentsia!) and the prices are very reasonable. In terms of their menu, there are so many things to eat and the menu changes regularly. Also, the Libertyville location is located in the downtown area so you can walk around the cute shops in the area if you want to walk off your brunch!

My friends and I enjoy coming here for our not-so-regular breakfast club outings. Service has always come with a smile, and they get extra points for being on top of keeping our carafes of coffee full and hot. (They will also offer to send you home with a drink-to-go!) We've never had a problem getting our food in a timely fashion, even on a Sunday morning for brunch. The food is hot, and if it's not to your liking they put the customer first. My potatoes came out a bit overdone and they took care of that without batting an eye. Family favorites: Farmer's Market Benedict. Door County Melt. Cinnamon Rolls. The food is consistent (which is my problem with Wildberry), and during the week we never feel rushed out, even when we linger into the lunch hour. They don't take reservations, but you can call ahead and get your name put on their waiting list. Definitely call ahead on weekend mornings.

I really, really love the food at Egg Harbor and I would absolutely say it is one of the best breakfast / lunch places around town. If you haven't been here, it is definitely a good, safe bet for food. I recommend going before 9am to beat the rush. That said, the food is awesome, but the coffee is HORRID. I really, really wish they would re-evaluate what they are serving and/or how they are brewing because for me, coffee is so important with my bacon and eggs (or fancy Egg Harbor dish of choice). Unfortunately, I often opt to go to their competitor's down the street because they too have awesome food, but slightly better coffee (but still not great coffee! Grrr). Also, this place is very popular with the locals and there is always a wait not to mention a high noise level. Be prepared to sit it out (uncomfortably) for 10-30 minutes. The lobby is very small and it's a little rough to be jammed in there with all of the screaming children and cackling middle aged people. Egg Harbor: Vamp up your coffee and I'll gladly give you 4 stars!

Egg Harbor in Libertyville is a great family-friendly place for breakfast or lunch, though if you plan on dining there over the weekend, it would be to your benefit to call ahead to request to have your your name placed on its Waiting List, so you may be seated shortly after arriving at an agreed time. A friend and I lunched there the other day, and though my Chicken Black Bean Chile with Corn Bread was served hot and tasted great as usual, my table mate's egg, spinach and mushroom crepes ("Popeye"?) were not up to usual par ... which brings us to the strength of Egg Harbor in Libertyville. When our waitress inquired if we were happy with our meal and and my table mate complained about how her crepes were prepared (their content was greasy), our waitress readily apologized, explained that there was supervised training occurring in-kitchen that day, and she would gladly place another order which would be cooked by an experienced chef. She took the crepes away, and quickly returned with a fruit cup for my table mate, so she may have something to eat as she waited. While the new meal was not greasy, and its taste was 'on', the texture of the eggs was off. My table mate noted that the cream cheese in the eggs was not allowed to melt. However, the flaw did not merit return of the meal. A supervising waitress, who struck as a genuinely pleasant person, stopped by our table to inquire about the new meal, and affirmed my table mates' observation as legitimate; and though the meal was edible in spite of the noted texture issue, the supervising waitress still offered her sincere regrets and she also 'comped' the meal (its charge waived), because the meal was not up to Egg Harbor standard. THAT, folks, is responsive, top notch customer service, which could not possibly have been better, because it was responsibly and graciously offered with no excuses! As long as humans are involved, errors will be bound to happen, BUT to Egg Harbor's credit, its wait staff and management team are quite clearly dedicated to offering positive solutions. It is why Egg Harbor-Libertyville rates 5 Stars in spite of the problem we encountered. It reminded us that there still are businesses, like Egg Harbor-Libertyville, that value their customers, and demonstrate it through offering quality goods and services. (I should add that what I referenced was the only problem of any kind that I or a table mate ever encountered over the years we have dined there.)

Umm... GROSS. I ordered my favorite breakfast dish Corned Beef Hash with great anticipation. After having ordered this Sunday morning staple at dozens of places over the past couple decades I suppose I fashion myself as a connosieur of sorts. Never, until this morning, have I had CB hash the consistency of baby food. Seriously, it was like they put all the ingredients in a blender - disgusting! I couldn't even finish it. When the server checked in on us and we let her know, she responded, "I'll let them know in the kitchen for next time." That's it. Ugh. With Wildberry Cafe up the street, the choice is easy for me. Wildberry crushes the Harbor. Actually, even Denny's is better. Sorry, I really wanted to like this place, but I'm never going back to Egg Harbor.

This is a great brunch place. The omelettes are excellent. I highly recommend the Avocado and Bacon with salsa and sour cream. It has a very interesting mix of flavors. The English muffin is perfectly toasted and the potatoes are a nice side compliment. I have also had the chicken salad and it is really good. I agree with other reviewers that the coffee is not good and the wait is generally long on the weekend with a very small waiting area. If you are looking for brunch in the area, this is a classic.

No offense to my parents, who come here regularly, but Egg Harbor could stand for some improvements. This place is your somewhat-standard Sunday, after-church (or after sleeping in) brunch place. It's great for local families, with plenty of seating and a good kids menu. However, after several visits over the last couple of years, I came to the realization that Egg Harbor is ok, but could do a lot better. Service is usually pretty slow. My food last week came out cold. Eggs weren't served as ordered. (If your name starts with "egg" don't you think you'd be able to serve eggs over hard instead of over easy?) And when my parents asked after 20 minutes why I didn't send the order back, I said, "I might have if the server had ever come by after dropping off the plates." My suggestion? Head to Wildberry a few minutes north. You'll pay a bit more, but the food and service are generally much better. Sorry, Egg Harbor.

I have always appreciated the good to great service I've received. And frankly, in Lake County, I've not had better brunch experiences with respect to food. And I consider myself more adventurous than most people. I love the fried green tomato benedict, to the point of wishing Egg Harbor would be open later, for early dinner. The lobster salad sandwhich is a force to reckon with. The Door County chicken salad is luscious. My newer fave is the sweet potato waffle with pecans (no syrup necessary, because it's good on its own). When my family visits, this establishment beats other hands down for brunch, two to one. (My dad is the holdout, and he often orders 2 eggs and toast. . . . not really imaginative, but always served with a smile.) I also like the accommodation for dogs on the patio, even though I don't take full advantage of it every visit. To persons looking at yelp reviewes, do not be daunted. I believe you'll have a positive experience here.

This perfect addition to downtown Libertyville is going to give Wildberry's up the road a run for their money. Fresh, delightful breakfast & brunch fare at reasonable prices. My inaugural lunch here consisted of a skillet with eggs, bacon & cheese topped with a dollop of sour cream. Perfect potatoes on the side (how are these not greasy at all?!), soft -with-crunchy-nooks-n-crannies muffin FTW. I *love* breakfast food. Tip: go the extra dollar and get the fresh squeezed OJ with strawberry juice. Mmmm MMM. Parking (still under construction) is a nightmare, but if you can find a space, this place is worth the hassle.

I had the egg scrambler combo. The eggs were good but the blueberry pancakes were a bit bland and crumbly. The service was good and the environment was pleasant but the food was not to my full liking.

This is my favorite place to eat breakfast. I come here atleast 4 times a month and always finding myself loving whatever it is I choose off the menu. They are great with substitutions and often offer to give you a to go cup of coffee at no additional charge!

Nothing really that jumped out at me saying this place was something special. It's a nice brunch spot though. The people seemed nice, but come on...if you seat us and there's a pitcher of water there, be courteous enough to fill our glasses. Please? I flipped to a page on the menu and instantly saw the Lobster Melt and decided there was no need to look on. The sandwich was pretty good. If there was one thing I would've changed, I would asked them to cut back on the cheese. The salad & potatoes that came with were pretty good.

We went here and got a late breakfast/early lunch. Sat right down and the server was friendly and fast enough. I had a delicious glass of strawberry orange juice, which they appear to make in house. Wife had red velvet french toast which she really enjoyed, and I had apple caramel crepes, which were almost like a dessert. Three crepes with whipped cream and filled with apples with cinnamon and walnuts. They were very tasty and a nice departure from your standard eggs and pancakes offerings. Overall it was tasty and good, although no breakfast place has blown me away enough to make me crave to return the next day, so...4 stars.

Noisy. Noisy as in beyond normal breakfast restaurant level noise. Music does not need to be that loud on a Sunday morning. Parents. How about paying attention to your children who think screaming is a normal conversation volume? And seriously, the restaurant's solution to this is to send a balloon maker over to that table and stand behind a baby and scare him with his loud air tank. Dumb. Just dumb. Pushy waitress who ignored our table after she took our order. Food was okay. Nothing special. Not worth the noise and the headache. I'm going to stick with Wildberry.

Another great brunch type place with a relaxed atmosphere off the beaten path of the competition down the street. Great good, portions and reasonable prices right in downtown Libertyville which is always a big plus. Nice outside seating for those warm summer mornings. If you are thinking about going to Wildberries, give this place a shot, it will not disappoint.

Wow has this place gone down hill. Food was cold, omlet, hash browns toast etc.... It apperaed to have been pre made. I'll never go back :-( Go to Wildberry down the street.

I just returned from meeting a friend for breakfast at Egg Harbor. I have been to this restaurant and the one in Lake Forest and Lake Geneva. I felt that the Libertyville location doesn't aspire to the high standards that it used to. My friend and I both ordered the oatmeal that came with an English muffin. The muffins arrived burnt on the edges, most likely from being run under a broiler. When I picked mine up to put it on a plate to give back to the waitress, there was a short, dark, curly hair under it. We told the waitress who brought me a new plate (and muffins). When we checked out, the manager asked us how everything was. My friend told him about the hair and his response was, "Did you tell your server?" Then he left. The girl who stepped forward to handle our transaction said that he went to talk to the kitchen staff. I felt that an apology would have been nice, but I felt that a very casual approach was taken. Needless to say, I keep thinking about that hair, should have just left, but will not be back to this location again.

Love the fact you can get 1/2 sandwich and harbor potatoes or soup or salad. Portion sizes are reasonable. Don't forget to grab your "To-Go" drink that they gladly offer you as you are leaving.

i've been going here for years and never leave disappointed! they have quite a few egg white/healthy options; joe's healthy scrambler is my favorite!!! in the fall, they serve a pumpkin pancake with pecans that is incredible. i wish they had it year round!

Wow. This is the best breakfast place I have been to. Walker Bros. , Wildberry's ....this is right at the top! Best Biscuits and Gravy I have ever had (and that is saying something!). The coffee was pretty good, also. They even offer to get you a drink to go when you are done with your meal (at no addtl. cost). Service was great and our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. With the quality of breakfast I thought I was looking at a $30 bill for breakfast (2 people) but it was only $19. GREAT VALUE! Food came up rather quick as well. The decor is excellent. Nice cozy breakfast place. I highly recommend!

It was the talk of the town that this place was coming. However, I have been there twice and it wasn't the best. The food is ok, but it is kind of bland. The serive isn't very good. The staff is very nice, but they constantly forget things. One time I went there someone I was there's food it was cold. She asked the waitress to warm it up and it took like 20 minutes and the place wasn't that crowded. Definitely not the best breakfast place in Libertyvile, not even 3rd. I would say Liberty, Wildberry, Townee, then Egg Harbor.

The egg dishes are very good here. However their pancakes are dreadful. Their coffee is far too strong for me. Bring in a Starbucks from across the street. All and all it is a decent breakfast place. However You can get eggs, far better pancakes and bacon for about $2 less at Wildberry's about a mile north and Wildberry's will throw in a cup of fruit or hash browns (your choice). I prefer Wildberry's coffee.

I've been to Egg Harbor about 4 times now, and I feel as if it's time to finally write a review for the place. In all honesty, Egg Harbor is a very nice place to get breakfast. It has a very warm, welcoming, laid back-type of feel. It also seems to always be busy, but not so busy as you have to wait for an hour for a table. The food here is usually very good. It's solid breakfast food for a solid price. I usually get either a skillet or some form of sweet breakfast, like a pancake or french toast. The menu is so large that it can be difficult to choose from all the great options! The method of payment is kinda confusing, as you bring your check up to the cashier in the front of the house, rather than letting your waiter handle everything, but once you get it the first time, it becomes routine. Overall, Egg Harbor offers a great environment to sit back and enjoy a nice breakfast. It won't change your life, but it will certainly make an impression.

My recent experience at egg harbor was average. When I got there, I was greeted by someone at the front. I asked for a booth seat and I was lead to a small space in the way corner of the restaurant. There were bigger booths available, so I was disappointed that I got a small space for three people when I saw two people sitting in the bigger ones later on. I got the pesto frittata and chili and my friend got a half Benedict and my other friend got vegetarian soup. The frittata was great! I wish there were more vegetables in it, but it was a good portion and I'm not complaining. The chili was salty. It was OK. My friends loved the potatoes. I had to wait a while for the check and they didn't really check on us (probably because we were way in the corner). I understand because they were busy and I know that waitressing can get hectic. Overall the ambience is nice, the employees are really pleasant, and the food is alright. I tried it twice and both times I didn't think anything special about the food. I will try again and see how I like it.
