Would not go back. Half the food wasn't labeled so you didn't know what it was. It was standard Asian Buffet food without the flavor. Also, a lot of the food that supposed to be hot wasn't and that is a serious no-no! I will say that it was clean, the displays were neat, the decor is nice, but I came there to eat and the food just wasn't good. I will take my business elsewhere.

Was here on Wednesday, now the decor when you first enter is insane very detail oriented. the double doors and windows in the entrance were nice. The food selection was very nice but (and I say but loosely) the food needs better labeling. I asked if the succeed shrimp had pork in them and no one knew. The food was overall nice but bland I'm hoping this is just because it's new and the kinks are being worked out. ?... This place has great potential as its already leaps and bounds beyond that stomach ache ridden place China buffet.

I gave Umi 3 stars because the food wasn't the worse I have ever had a buffet and it wasn't the best either. Would I come back sure but this wouldn't be my first choice. The restaurant was very clean and our waitress was very nice. I don't know how packed this place is on the weekends because I went on a Thursday and I thought it was a little strange that the place was a virtual ghost town. The workers looked so bored and some of the dishes looked dried out because it truly wasn't that many people there. I did enjoy many of the dishes but not enough to make this place my favorite. The cost of the drink is included with buffet cost...so for lunch we paid almost 10 dollars a piece. I'm not really a soda drinker so I like when the drinks are separate that way you aren't wasting money on something you won't drink. All in All I had a good experience

I am disappointed to say that this is my first one star yelp review. SMH. I have been to hibachi buffets all over the USA. This was, by far, not only the worse hibachi buffet I've been to, but the worse buffet I've been to period. The food was cold, poorly seasoned, and I swear that the "beef" did not come from a cow. It tasted terrible. The meat was probably very old. That cow must have died three years before we ate it. Yuck. The meats were all very tough. I felt like I was chewing on a wet suit flavored with blue play-doh. The salad was even gross. How do you mess up a salad? The drinks were also watered down. My family and I would have been better off just eating the napkins. Just go to the one in Matteson.

It was more then what u can expect from a typical chinese buffet there was good selection pretty clean roomy and decent food.... I wouldnt expect high quality food like some people think and compare the food to a menu sitdown style the food wasnt nasty it was above avg esp for what i paid and to get as many options Woyld def come back again because it is better then prolly 80 percent of other buffets

The cook, who we had to wait on while finishing his dinner, got mad at us for wanting white rice in with our veggies. The first time he said that he wouldn't we didn't understand him and he did it anyway (as has every habachi chef before him) the second time he tried to argue with me in broken English (no offense meant). I explained that this wasn't my first time here and that I do this every time. I don't think either of us ever understood each other. All I know is that in the process. He burned my food, though the orders before and after me were just fine. This happened between 8pm and 9pm 1/13/14

Food looked appetizing, as said before, some of the food was not kept at proper temperatures. I immediately tried the sushi when I entered, tasted fresh and was good for the $7.32, I paid for lunch. The waiter/ server girl, did not come to my table for the first 30 mins I was there, you have to get your own drinks and silverware, however she thought to help other tables with drinks and not me. No problem, I am young, I am able to walk to the drink station, however I did find it unprofessional and inconsistent that she would be more helpful to the other tables. Umi Buffet was clean, food was restocked at a decent rate, and there were a lot of tables and booths to sit in, which was nice:) Did not check out the bathroom, will next I need a lot of food for a cheap price. Well worth visiting, if you enjoy lots of options or if you have children! Also the hibachi grill looked awesome and fresh, but I was too full to try it this time. Worth the money if you are in Cal City or Lansing. Enjoy!

So much to choose from. I tried a little bit of everything. Let me tell you, out of all that food there was only one dish that tasted good to me. I guess the high price buys you a lot of bad dishes. They should have charged me just for the one dish I found decent. I would have only paid a buck! That's probably why I am receiving so many coupons in the mail from this place. The coupon needs to read more like 11.00 off or free. If your into taste and not quantity then I suggest taken a drive to the Hibachi Buffet & Grill in Matteson. This place makes that place seem superior. If you want great tasting Asian food then I suggest A-Fusion in Matteson. When is Yelp going to come up with a negative star already!

I have had lunch here 3 times now. The best way to put it is there is nothing bad about this place but there is also nothing great. That being said I would go back here in a heart beat. The price is right, they have a huge selection, and its fast. If you have your expectations set correctly then this place is great.

Excellent for what it is. The owners must have read the reviews regarding proper food temps and corrected any issues. Hots were steaming. Colds were icy. Great variety and selection. Good, friendly service. Reasonably priced. The dishes were well seasoned. Overall a good buffet.

This place just opened 3 days ago. All the food that we had was fresh and really taste good. We're just passing through but we will return next time we're in town.

Been open for 5 days. This is my 2nd time here. Better than the other local buffets in the area. Come eat here!

Food ok. Many patrons swearing and obnoxious and staff and management was scared to do anything or didn't care. I will not return with my family.

Went to the one that opened in rolling meadows. Food was horrible and so expensive. Was charged 9.99 for my 3 yr. Old who only ate jello. Only pizza for her that wasn't good. Felt so taken for what we spent and was hungry 2 hours later.

Finally a good Chinese buffet in Lansing. Food was hot and plentiful. Sushi was great. Everything was well prepared. Place was clean and service friendly. Beats the diarrhea buffet across Torrence by a long shot. Will be back often.
