I love Beggars for a couple of reasons...FIRST...TONS OF CHUNKY SAUSAGE!!! Seriously...there not kidding when they say they pour it on...it's well worth the money...great cheese...nice crust...and a MEATY pizza even if sausage is your only topping...I also love there beef sandwiches...very good...quality bread...very good service when dining in and an hour for delivery on a weekend nite...they always have coupons available online or in the local papers...it used to be an old movie theatre so it's very charming inside...I had my baby shower there..VERY REASONALBE...it was like $200 bucks for unlimited pop and pizza for 40 people including salad and an ice cream scoop for dessert...also...we took my family there after my daughters communion...there were about 15 of us...we did not have any reservations but it was a Sunday afternoon so they put some tables together for us...we had Soda...Pizza...Appetizer..and a cookie ice cream dessert for $100. Plus it's good food!!! Very Family Friendly!!

Not a huge fan of this place. I grew up on Giordano's and the fact that I was so desperate for deep dish that I had to order some from Beggar's did pain me greatly. I give them an extra star for the good portion size but I don't like deep-dish how they make it if mine was made correctly(i posted a picture). The only other deep dish I know that has more crust than toppings comes in a Lunchable and is nowhere near $20. I'd much rather buy that for next time.

I maintain that Beggars quite possibly has the best pizza in Chicagoland and this suburban location is no exception. The large dining room makes this Beggars ideal for large groups. Add in free parking, great service, and weekly concerts featuring the pipe organ and you have a winner!

Oh the memories.....I miss this place so much. Beggars Pizza has by far the best thin crust pizza. I can't say to much about the staff I mean its really hit or miss with them but I can deal with the staff as long as my pie is amazing as it always is. I come home once a year and this is one of the places I stop at as soon as I get off the highway....cant wait to see you in August of 2013 Beggars Family!!!!

I was told "once you have had beggars pizza, nothing else can compare". So of course I had to try it! We ordered a medium thin crust sausage pizza and he had a pop and I had a water. Out bill was a little over 14 which is not bad. Medium pizza was plenty for us and gave us both leftovers to take home. I felt like their idea of thin crust was more like regular crust for other restaurants, so keep that in mind. It was very very good pizza! I liked that the sausage was big and not ground up like it is other places. I would give that 5 stars, I am giving the review 4 stars because of the organ. I know it is a staple of the place and it was nice having the music in the background, but it was SO loud we could not hear much from each other. Not the best place to go on a date (especially a second date where you are still getting to know each other). That is my only complaint though. I heard that the original one in blue island is even better so I am going to have to try that one out too.

What can I say, my favorite place for pizza, EVER!!! The only thing that could be changed is the interior...needs a major face lift...but with pizza this good, I'll be back again and again! I am from St. Louis, and this is one of those restaurants that I crave.

I used to eat at the one on western ave. for a long time always had great food then came here a few times and got a pizza that tasted funny like the sausage was bad or something and boy I got sick to my stomach and have not been back since.

This is a very unique pizza place. Its built inside an old movie theatre....its just a very neat and fun experience. Excellent for groups!! The pizza is pretty darn good too, not the best but good!

I have to say they have some damn good pizza. Although we mainly make the drive to hear and see the pipe organ. Kudos to Glenn you really know how to work your organ!

The pizza is fine. That's as excited as I get about Beggar's. Table service is slow and servers love to disappear for long stretches at a time, so if you need anything, you'll have to remember to ask for it when your order is taken first, or when your food finally arrives. Last time I dined at Beggar's with my husband, the curly fries we got tasted funny. We did mention it to our server, who looked at us blankly before taking our check. Later that evening I had an upset stomach. Couple that bad experience with really ordinary service and okay pizza, it's not somewhere I make a point of dining at.

We just held a 40th Wedding Anniversary party for my in-law's at this location and it was THE BEST!!! We were expecting about 75 people and when we showed up, the entire top level was clean. completely set up, and there were 2 waitresses designated just for our party. We had previously spoken with the manager and Glen (the pipe organist) was supposed to be there as well ( On Saturday-- his day off none the less) but an emergency came up and he was unable to make it. Instead, his brother Tim arrived and came to the rescue!! We had FANTASTIC music to accompany the delicious pizza, beer, and wine we were all enjoying while celebrating the long marriage of an awesome couple. A spontaneous polka party even erupted among the party-goers and when it was done, the waitresses were ready with extra water. We could not have chosen a better venue for our party and are VERY PLEASED!! Thanks Beggars!!!

Well, the food is decent. I have had a meatball sandwich on 1 visit and stuffed pizza the other. The meatballs were tasty and well-seasoned. The stuffed pizza was pretty good even if my friend chose broccoli. Spinach would have been a better choice. The prices are pretty good. The ladies serving the tables are quite friendly and sweet. It was not a spectacular experience as far as true Chicago deep-dish/stuffed is concerned but it was nothing to complain about. They do have a whole experience aside from the food and that is the live theatre organ! The young man that plays has a decent technique and his enthusiasm and knowledge of the instrument make up for some of the missing technique. He knows the instrument very well and is very good at orchestrating the tunes he plays in the true theatre-organ style! 4 stars for hims as well!

Beggar's pizza is delish. Ample cheese, decently seasoned sauce, buttery thin (but not too thin) crust... 'bout a centimeter or so thick. Fairly quick service. The huge location in a converted movie theater means my extended family on the east side has every other graduation, confirmation and birthday party at this location. And please, don't leave without trying one of those melty, gooey, oh so delicious chocolate chip cookie cakes with ice cream on top!!! Drool. I am beyond stoked that they will soon be opening a location in the city.

I was expecting a big deal as I have driven by here countless times wondering what they did to the interior of this old movie house. Not much! Lay some carpet and slap together a few walls and call it a day! This was Thee Worst Buffet I have ever been to. It actually made up my mind to never go to any Beggars ever again! One old cold buffet that was about 4 feet long with no salad and 5 different toppings. 3 leftover pizzas on the hot side and the pasta in the corner that I wouldn't have fed to my dog. I watched as more people came in and more food was brought out. but it never got any better. Thanks for stopping by!

Great pizza and great service. They have an organ player and my kids love it. They also do karaoke and if you love sports this place is great.

My kids and I sampled the lunch buffet at about 12:45 p.m. The salad bar featured some very fresh chopped romaine lettuce with topping choices that included egg, two kinds of cheese, croutons, cucumbers, tomatoes, olives and cottage cheese. About seven different pizzas were featured and were kept toasty on a large hot plate. A small pasta station was in the corner. My son, (who will eat almost anything) decided to skip the pasta station because the sauces looked like they had not been freshened in a while. Your pizza is super, but I do want to offer my humble suggestions to Beggar's Pizza: 1. Add some toppings to that salad bar! Mushrooms, green onions, bell peppers would be a great start! Obviously, you have that in your inventory! 2. Label the pizzas on the buffet...freshen the pasta and the sauce. 3. Paint the interior! The old paint job give the impression it is dirty when it isn't! Also, while you are at it, remove the Christmas décor from around the pendant lights! Server Kelly was awesome! Ask for her section. I want to love you! Really, I do!

Cool place. It is built in an old vaudeville theater. I would go during the organ nights, it is really quite fun to see all the old actuators still working. Service was slow, but polite. It was busy to begin with, but even when it was slower service did not improve. The pizza was a little greasy, but that comes with the loads of toppings on their thin crust. You almost have to eat it with knife and fork.

Tonight I ordered online at beggarspizza.com a medium thin crust pizza with extra cheese, garlic and gardenier it was...DELICIOUS! The crust was not so thin that it becomes dry and brittle, it was crispy and held my extra cheese like a pro. The cheese tasted super fresh, the garlic was just ok and the gardenier was AWESOME! I would have given it 5 stars but because I ordered online they sent me a confirmation minus the ready pick up time so I had to call them to find out. One last thing, customer service over the phone and in person was pretty darn good and I appreciate that.

Been coming here for pizza since I was a child haven't actually eaten in the dining area since then however we occasionally order take out from here. They have always had some of the best pizza especially the sausage. They put a good bit of toppings on the pizza and it's so good. Whenever I'm in Chicago I have to hit this place up.

  • Cathy H.

Soooo good. Although I checked in, they couldn't process my yelp coupon which was annoying, although they nicely honored it anyways. The old vaudeville setting was cool. We ordered two pizzas a BBQ chicken thin crust , which was really really good... The sauce was great and the toppings were overflowing. We also ordered a deep dish onion, tomato and pineapple pizza that we are still eating, several days later. The sauce was so fresh and so tasty... It was seriously awesome! No beer or wine.

Came here for a birthday party with a large group on Christmas Eve - and it went well. The kitchen was really backed up, and even though we pre-ordered our pizzas an hour before our arrival, they didn't come out until about a half-hour after everyone arrived. Oy. But our server was nice and kept our drinks filled. Pizzas were fine - I liked the stuffed the best, of course. :D Wished the mushrooms were fresh instead of from a can though. But the reason this gets 4 stars (instead of the 3 I would've left based on the kitchen delays) is because of their incredible organ player! What a delight! This guy was amazing to watch and kept everyone entertained during the evening. The organ is unbelievable, with so many interesting elements throughout the space. Very cool and very unique. Would happily come back here whenever this musician is working!

I really like Beggars Pizza and usually enjoy my experience when I dine-in. However, I came for the lunch buffet and the food was awful. I arrived a half hour after the lunch buffet began and the food looked as if it had been sitting since the day before, it was cold, and I really wish I had requested my money back. I'm not against going to this location because it is a cool place, I just won't be partaking in the lunch buffet anymore.

  • Jasmine D.

Ok, so maybe I shouldn't be so critical considering a group of us came for the $8-something lunch buffet. But if I were to speak strictly on food quality, it definitely is lacking. It's what you can expect from buffet food sitting in chafing dishes that were not catered to... Burnt/dried out pizza, over cooked pasta, unseasoned vegetables, dessert cookie pie that was not cooked evenly (burnt at the crusts and a gooey mess in the middle). I tried my friend's beer. I'm guessing it was borderline skunked, as it stung in my mouth and left a pungent aftertaste. On the brighter side, what I did like about the place was it's character. Is it's built into an old theater, so it has a fun personality. If you want to fill your stomach for cheap, this is the place to be.

Totally good pizza. Real Chicago deep dish just outside the city limits. All of the Chicago without the crowd. A fav!

The server we had was Pat. She had a smokers voice and was extremely rude to me, my girlfirnd, and our friends. One of my friends had gotten his wallet stolen earlier in the day, but still wanted to hang with us so he just got a water while the other 5 of us each purchased on of their overpriced meals. However, pat said "you cant just sit here and not order anything. You have to order somthing or you have to leave". The manager ended up saying he could stay, but we all felt on edge every time she walked by. She was quick to bring the check, however. I did have a good experience a previous time with the server Kelly, but after this experience with Pat, I will never dine there again.

This is the nastiness pizza and food I ever tasted! My brother in law own a pizzeria place for many years and he tried their pizza he said it was nasty! I'm very very picky about my pizza and taste is everything and this place make me vomit!

We love coming here for the live organ music on Tuesday and Friday nights from 6-9pm. Our 2 year old son LOVES coming to "pizza boom" as he calls it to dance and play to the live music and lights. The pizza is just OK. Personally, I'm not a big fan of pizza joints that do thick layers of toppings. To me it looks more like a giant round casserole that you have to eat with a fork. Overall, a great night out with family and friends. If you go during the holiday's get there early because it gets crowded fast.

Recently, I visited home and decided to go here, as I remember it being pretty good. It was ok. But for the price, it should be more than that. Their prices are outrageous for an okay pizza. They do load up on the toppings. I'm surprised by the amount of good reviews. I think people are confusing quantity versus quality.

  • Don D.

Okay Living in the lansing / munster area and doing pizza reviews is not easy. There are lots of pizza places in the area and none of them are to die for! you just need to sample all of them and figure out what you like and stick with it. Beggars Pizza is pretty good if you like the kind of pie that is over loaded with toppings. they stack it high and tight on a average crust. The good thing is the pizza always seems the same not like some of the places that seem to change with who ever is cooking that night. the sandwiches and appetizers are okay and about like many of the other places in the area with the exception of the chili cheese fries (how can you mess them up?) there pretty good! over all good size servings and fairly priced for what you get. the downside is when calling to order for delivery there is always loud music in the back ground and it is annoying to feel like who ever is taking the order cant hear what your saying!

  • Gerald H.

I do like Beggars. The pizza is good and the ambiance of the place is great. When my brother comes to town he absolutely must go there. He orders the thick crust pizza (not my favorite). I go along with him because he's my little brother and he doesn't get great pizza in Atlanta. I like taking my girl there because. It's like a tiny road trip. Downtown Lansing is cute as all heck! Anyway since I like sausage and she like pepperoni, we get a half and half. They truly do pour on the sausage! Check them out when you're that way!

This restaurant gets 5 stars because where else can I dine while listening to Glenn play his pipes? That's right. Nowhere. You have not lived until you've experienced live organ-playing at Beggar's in Lansing, formerly Pipes 'n' Pizza. Lately he's been there on Tuesdays and Fridays, but you should call ahead just in case. Regarding the pizza, they don't lie; they do "lay it on thick," as promised. Oh, and their Halloween decorations are also fantastic! I make it a point to go there annually in October. Their service is usually good, occasionally awful.

  • Luke S.

Well my brother didn't listen to me and ordered another pizza from Beggars. This time it was a family size with sausage and onion with a 2 liter of Pepsi. Price with tax, and delivery was $30. Then add a tip to that. This time the crust wasn't rock hard like cardboard. It was more rubbery tasting. Very hard to to chew through. This was what was supposed to be a THIN crust pizza. I wonder if the owners ever try their own pizza?

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations.
