This review is only about the Sports Lounge. I came here with a large group to watch a Bears game. The management was given a heads up that we were coming. I was amazed that the management apparently didn't schedule any extra help for the bar area on a football Sunday. Service was glacial with 2 bartenders and one waitress for a packed to over capacity bar. As a woman who was standing next to me said: "those girls behind the bar certainly aren't about to break a sweat". Extremely well said summary of the situation. The restaurant area proper was literally deserted- why didn't the management bring in a waitress or two to help out? The "additional tip" selection below.... "Waiter Service: Not Sure" was never more accurate. The halftime "free pizza" evaporated in seconds (I actually never saw it!) and there were problems with the drink specials being overcharged. I am sure that the food and drinks at In-Laws are good, they are known for their thin crust pizza.... but what good is excellent food if there isn't a server to take your order? I heard people comment that the management was losing out on sales big-time by not being properly staffed. I feel there are better places in the greater Gurnee area to watch a Bears game and I intend to spend my money in one of them next weekend.

Stopped and had a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. They had a nice beer selection. My wife ordered a salad and I got an appetizer. The food was fine. We both ordered draught beers. Mine tasted a little off. I didn't mention it to my wife, and when she tasted mine she thought the same thing. I think they need to clean that tap. All in all it was an OK experience until just before we were getting ready to leave. My wife saw a large male waiter from the restaurant area walk up to the bar and grab some cocktail napkins to wipe the sweat from his face. He then reached into the container that holds garnishes for drinks and grabbed a lime and stuffed it into a corona bottle, and left to deliver it to a customer. Before we could pay our bill, it happened once more. In all seriousness, she said she thought she was going to throw up. If that's what goes on in front of the customers I shudder to think what happens behind the scenes. I don't mind going to a dive bar occasionally, but this place isn't decorated or priced like a dive bar, just acting like one. As another reviewer mentioned, there were dust bunnies on top of speakers, TVs etc. Clean it up.

Went here on a Monday night, Monday night football bears game was playing and we were sporting our bears gear. it was only my 7 yr old and me having a girls night out but we are both bears fans and wanted to eat. the host seated us in the corner w the tv out of view in a really empty room. he said he would keep us posted on the score and never did nice! they must not get many children there to dine cause we were offered no kids menu. we settled on the fried chicken and fries that were good and i ate from the salad bar. Soup was good but nothing is labeled and did not know what some items were. i would have given 4 stars but there was no interest for people with kids - all they need to do is put a kids corner on the menu and magic - i would be a fan! Also the staff should really consider putting labels up by the salad bar...

I usually go during the weekend but there's Always a fight what ends up making the bar close early. The bartenders r too slow and I seem to stand there for hours before they notice me. The music and the crowd is the only thing that keeps me coming back

I was at a banquet in the basement this week. It was excellent. We enjoyed broasted chicken, Italian Beef, mixed veggies, mashed potatoes and gravy and mostacelli, wonderful coffee and a great salad. I had not been to In-Laws in about ten years. It was great then and it is great now. I think I will be returning for the broasted chicken sometime soon.

If your idea of a night out is to go to Old Country Buffet and eat their frozen and reheated food, this is the place for you! Went there for lunch on a weekday. Extremely disappointing! I got the buffet which I always know is probably a risk, but my hubby ordered a sandwich so we could share. The buffet was all fried food, the beef vegetable soup was more like over salted over tomato minestrone, and the sandwich was kinda gross. The best thing about it was the wheat bread....yeah that bad! We will never eat here or FatMans again since its the same company! Reminds me of an episode of Kitchen Nightmares where Ramsey finds out that everything is frozen and reheated in the microwave, not a thing a REAL restaurant should do! Not for everything! Also it's pretty expensive for the quality of food and you're only paying for the atmosphere, which was actually nicely decorated.

This is the best part of my day off fishing trip. $1 bottles and all you can eat pizza on Tuesdays. Pizza is fantastic and the bartenders are friendly to me even though I don't consider myself a regular guest. If you like a good thin crust pizza this is your place!!

Located behind Avalon off of Grand Ave. The place has been rebuilt since a fire about 10 years ago so it still has the new look going for it. The menu is more American fare and catering to the bar crowd more. Decent mix between fried foods and more healthy items. The pizza is still good and one of the better choices around, although it gets lost as such in this pizza heavy area. Cant say I have ever had bad food or service here and a friend of mine who is a very picky eater likes it and I trust her eccentricity for certain foods. I personally have never been to the bar but I do know that it gets busy at night and is a big spot for the locals. A nice local spot.

We were looking for a place to eat around 10:30pm on a Friday night, and anyone who knows Gurnee, knows choices are a bit limited at that time of night. We decided to pull into In-Laws since the ratio of cars to the Avalon was so much greater. Now I haven't been here in YEARS. Not only did I not recognize the place when I walked in, but I learned that several years ago the bar has became the only "club" in Gurnee. We asked at the counter if they were still serving food in their restaurant. We were informed that they'd turned off their grills and fryers, but they could make us a pizza. They were completely awesome! Even though they'd moved around most of their tables to start cleaning for the night, they found room for us and made us a pretty decent pizza. The waitress and rest of the staff we dealt with was very friendly. They've done a nice job remodeling the place, even if it was several years ago. The manager that we spoke with was very nice, and I thought it was great that he accomadated us when he didn't have to. They have nightly specials that look really good. We'll definitely be back to try some of their other fare!

This place is HORRIBLE!! DO NOT EAT HERE!!! FOOD WAS COLD AND NASTY!! SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. We ordered our appetizers and they were stone cold!! Jalapeno poppers were warm on the ends and ice cold in the middle! Calamari bland and was not served with any lemon. We still decided to still wait for our dinners well we should have left!! My daughter ordered a Gyro that was supposed to be off the spit! Well guess what it was the same cheap gyro stuff you buy at Jewel in the packaged meat section and was not worth 9.99!!! HORRIBLE!!! I ordered the full slab of ribs and well they were mostly FAT!!! and they were cold!! Baked potato was fine but well didn't get anything but butter for mine. How about some sour cream people!! Everything was COLD!!! My fiance ordered the fish dinner. It was cold, bland, and still no lemon. Who serves sea food without LEMON!! This place was just horrible and EVERYTHING WAS COOKED IN THE MICROWAVE!!!!!! That is why is was cold and had only certain parts were warm! As for the service..... WHAT SERVICE we only saw the guy when we ordered, When he brought the food, and when he brought the check!! DID NOT EVEN REFILL OUR DRINKS!!! We will not be going to this place again not even if you paid us 2.00 or a million we will not be going back. Do yourselves a favor and avoid this place!! It is as bad as the AVALON that is right next to it!!!! HORRIBLE FOOD AND HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! NASTY NASTY FOOD!!!!

Not the greatest food in town, but also not the worst. I'm a fan of the spinach and artichoke dip. I've never had bad food here, but I've never had anything that was amazing.

Drove about 20 miles and THEY ARE CLOSED!. Two dumpsters in the parking lot. The sign on the door says they will be close THEY WILL BE CLOSED ALL OF JULY. i MISS THIS PLACE ALREADY...... the LARGE salad bar the two daily ''Fresh'' soups.

Do you like dog or cat or fish or iguana food mixed with poor, rude service and lousy drinks? Well belly up to In-Laws. This place is nasty, the service is horrible, the food is really bad and nobody working there cares. I don't dish out too many 1 stars, but that was the lowest I could go for this joint.

I've eaten here three times. I've never been impressed with the food quality. It seems like everything comes from Restaurant Depot and is of average to below average quality. The bar is pretty popular and that may explain the crowds that form here on weekends. The service is fine and the servers are very nice. Personally, I find no appeal in this restaurant. Prices are average. Food is average. Atmosphere is average. I'd say, skip it.

I'm only rating the Sports Lounge area. Went there with a group of 14 people. The server did not check on us often enough. Brought our orders late all the time or not at all. Was not aware of the group and claimed that all the group had pizza when it wasn't true. They have all you can eat pizza but everyone who eats must pay $4 but then for re-orders they recharge don't get where the unlimited is! Then when the check came there were all kinds of mistakes, but the manager didn't want to listen. Very bad customer service. Employees are inept and rude!!! Cheap drinks and food does not equal good service!!!!

I live in Gurnee and have been in here a number of times because of it's central location and I must say I am usually disappointed. I was in for lunch today, $2.50 for a small glass of chocolate milk is laughable, the salad bar had pretty good variety but the lettuce itself was the cheapest all-white and light green iceburg-how about something with some taste, like a choice also of romaine or spinach? The rolls were hockey pucks and the fried buffet food looked like it'd been there for HOURS. The elderly female server was slow and very rude, acted like i had nerve sitting in "her" dining room. I've talked to the managers in the past and they are never too concerned about my comments and you never see ANY employees smiling or going out of their way to talk or even be friendly. I managed restaurants for over 25 years and the attitude always starts at the top. I refuse to return and If this was my place I'd be embarrassed...

It's ok...a bit pricey. The cheapest appetizer is 8 bucks. Ive only eaten here twice. Can't remember what I had the first time but I had the French dip earlier. It was a pretty big portion as far as the sandwich. They skimped on the fries. For $11 you'd think they could hook it up on the fries. This place won't be my go to regular eating spot. I'd probably come in every few weeks if that.

I wish I could comment on the food but I cant. This is because I walked out before ever sitting down. The wait staff was so rude in the first 2 minutes of my family and I walking in the door that we just said no thanks and left. I would not bother.

The restaurant had dust bunnies hanging from the curtains, lighting and a wad of gum on the carpeted floor and silverware under the table. Do they ever clean? That said, the food isn't bad.

Sports bar...check out their drink specials. The $5 long islands on Fridays are HUGE and KILLER. Their restaurant is also really good. So far, I've tried the chicken stir fry rice bowl (Which, ironically, came on a plate...) and it was so good! Also have tried the shrimp and scallop bake. Very creamy and garlicky. The last time I was there I got the chicken caesar salad "bowl", which, again, came on a plate. The chicken was too dry for my taste and some of the lettuce was wilted and turning colors. Um.

I was curious to try this place based on how close this location is to my house and the fact that the reviews were good. Walked in straight to the bar/lounge area. It was Monday night football. We got there before the game to enjoy their all-u can eat pizza special for $3.99. The lounge was nice and plenty of big screens for the games. We sat at a booth which had a big plasma on the wall just above us. We were quick to order as i had my mind set on pizza. My friend had the imported draft at $3.50 ea. and I just had some sprite. So we ordered the sausage pizza...waited about 15min before it made it to our table. It was surprisingly delicious!!!7 We couldn't stop eating and between the two of us we ate one full sausage pizza! No we couldn't order more though the waitresses were very attentive and more than willing to get one started for us prior to finishing our current pizza. The game was great...GO BEARS! It was a good dining experience at a great price, our total for one large sausage pizza, 4 imported drafts and a sprite...$25!!!! I liked the atmosphere as it was a mixed crowd. JI definitely come back again!!!

I have been to this restaurant many times for brunch, lunch and dinner and they never disappoint. The fish fry on Fridays, their ribs, pizza, soup and Sunday Brunch is OUTSTANDING!!! Service is excellent and friendly. Close to Great America - great place to eat with reasonable prices! Had their salad bar/lunch buffet today and it was excellent!

Came here for a birthday party down in the basement and the food was pretty good! It was like a banquet setting with a buffet and bar. Totally wasn't expecting that when walking in here.

Wow, they really remodeled this place. If memory serves (and I hadn't been there in a while), it used to be a typical Greek joint + sports bar, with a 25-page tome of a menu that included "specials" ranging from enchiladas to souvlaki. No longer. The menu's been pared down to a manageable number of very normal American dishes, plus a robust daily lunch and dinner buffet. The decor's been completely updated - it's cozy and pleasant, two fireplaces, nice windows. We went for lunch and there was plenty of seating - we actually had the back room to ourselves. Not recommended: the portobello mushroom sandwich. I usually love these things. The mushroom on the sandwich was awful: tough, too earthy, past its prime at best. The other veggies were fresh and perfectly cooked. I think I just got a fluke bad one. My coworkers enjoyed their food just fine. I expect I'll give the place another go. The atmosphere was nice and the prices were fine. Located on an odd little wedge at Milwaukee & Grand in Gurnee.

I feel The In-Laws is the best next thing to a comfortable sports bar even if its not in the city. I eat/drink at the bar, and the 2 times ive been here the waitress either doesnt exist or is too busy bartending. Finally the 5$bar food (wings, pizza, and burger) are good, the portions are sufficient . This place draws up a nice crowd for games, especially Bears games. They have dart boards and a lot of space for friends.

do not buy the lunch salad bar and expect the full bar. It is unmarked, but only certain items at the salad bar are included. They expect you to have ESP and guess that the noodles and sauce will double the cost of the buffet. No signs anywhere telling you this. When brought to their attention, they just smile and say "Sorry, that is just the way it is" Left feeling ripped off.

I've been to this place plenty of times and I think its finally time to set the record straight for peeps who dare to venture into In-Laws. I don't know much about the restaurant, however the bar is one of the worst around. I've waited as long as 20 minutes for a beer before... and that's with aggressive body posture and verbosity. The waitresses are not happy, unaccommodating and the bouncers puff their chest out, throw their body weight around and make people uncomfortable. I'm all about bartenders and help staff being able to throw a few back... they work at a bar. But, when your paying customers have empty glasses, that *ish is unacceptable and irresponsible. I've heard rumors about the Khayat's poor management, but I never believed it until now. I'd think twice before you choose to visit In-Laws, Fatman PIzza Pub, or Firewood. The problem starts at the top and it shows through the poor levels of service at their establishments.

GREAT PLACE!! If you are looking for dinner with the family or a place to hang out with friends. This is the place to be! I 've been there many times and the food or the service never seems to fail me! They have a very good buffet and it is NOT FROZEN!! The menu has a large variety. Inlaws has the best PRIME RIB hands down!!! Great wine selection and the long islands and martinis are to die for!

This place was always a regular of the Six Flags crowd and I was never super impressed. Did I always get my food? Yes. Did I always get my drink? Yes. Did I ever get sick from it? No. Beyond that the positives pretty much stop there. The prices are OK at best. The service in the restaurant is typically slow, and ranges between not-friendly to rude. I have a valid WI Driver's License and in the restaurant had the server look at it. Then she came back with a manager who asked me to show it again. She looked at it, let me put it away, then came back with a THIRD person to check my ID as well. Now I understand having a policy for out of state ID's but this clearly wasn't a policy, and was just everyone there being an idiot, because each time my ID was OK'd. I was never asked to keep it out for verification between visits between these three people. The bartenders are usually ok but don't know nearly enough about some pretty basic drinks, especially since they serve a pretty full and busy bar. They are usually mildly personable but again... slow. And twice now I've experience a last call 30 min before typical bar time. Which is fine, but within minutes of serving the last drink they used air horns in people's faces to get them to leave because "We're closed!". I feel that is a rather extreme and fast approach to getting customers to leave, especially when you literally just took their money minutes ago for a full sized drink. The food and drink quality is ok. Drinks are average/weak but not as weak as your typical chain restaurant. The chicken and pizza taste fine, but are nothing special. Overall I wouldn't really recommend this place over the plethora of other pizza and chicken joints in Lake County. Kaiser's is just down the road and FAR better for bar-like food.

I hope this review helps this restaurant. Clean your draft beer lines and quality check what is being served. Sample it. If you like it, your customers probably will too. My cost $17.30 for 2 beers that were not drinkable. Deliver a good product. Waiting 55 minutes is unacceptable for a pepperoni pizza that never arrived to be told it was "delivered to the wrong table". I was looking forward to what might have been a terrific thin crust pizza. We had to eat elsewhere. Don't wait till your customer decides to leave to try and make things right. Make it right when you're customer arrives. Give your customer a reason to return, not excuses that they have no control over. You've been in business long before my second disappointing visit and you'll probably be in business well after I don't return. Figure out why your customers come back and focus on it. No harm intended. I wish you and your business well. I drive by no less than 2 times per day with hopes that maybe, just maybe, I'll give your establishment another try. But I know after 2 visits, there is no way I'll be back. Good luck.

Woo-wee! We ate a couple burgers here and let me tell you, we haven't had a burger that good in a while. Cute family owned place. Recommend the burgers! :) Interior outdated.

Went here with some friends, nobody had been here before, we picked because it was geographically located to another venue. This was a cute place and very affordable. I went in with no expectations and left pleased. The pizza was great, $10 for a 10" with 3 toppings, oh my! The chopped salad was delicious and served with large avocado slices - too bad they don't have a picture of it on the menu, more people would get this for sure! Good bargain for people on a budget or for families. They had a large beer selection

I only have been here for the Sunday Brunch, which is great! The servers are always welcoming and on top about making sure whatever is in your cup is full. The selection of the brunch is decent. My all time favorite is the guy that makes omelets. Personally I don't hold back on the toppings. The size of the omelets are nice and mine just has all the ingredients bursting out of it. Only once I've been to the bar late at night. They do serve local craft beers which is great.
