Apparently this restaurant has no regard for its customers. Yelp said it closes at 11 pm but just to make sure I called them around 9:15 before heading over there. I got there at 9:45 and the sign on the door said open until 11 and all the lights were on and door was open. I walked in and there were 3 employees sitting at the bar eating. First they stared at me for a minute like I was an alien. Finally one of them says "We're closed" I was like, "excuse me? I called and your information says open until 11." Sometimes a girl needs some late night sushi. And he replied "not today" - no apology, nothing. They just decided to close an hour and 15 mins early when a half hour earlier they said they were open until 11. I can't attest to the food BECAUSE THEY WOULDN'T FREAKIN SERVE ME but I'm glad I gave them none of my business. This kind of service is reprehensible. Don't waste your time or money.

Only place to get (raw live octopus) in Chicago. Other sushi and sashimi dishes are amazing as well.

I have been dining at Shiroi Sushi for several years now and have to say I'm extremely impressed with their sushi and friendly staff. Each time I visit I feel like I'm apart of their family and never leave hungry! The fish is absolutely amazing and from what other customers tell me the owners bring in their fish daily fresh from all over the world. The restaurant is always clean in fact I hear they just remodeled the restaurant ... looks amazing! I highly recommend their sashimi, tuna rolls, and my favorite Toro + Uni Price is better than most Japanese restaurants in the area and taste is definitely superior. Shiroi definitely deserves 5 out of stars I can't say anything bad about the food or service.

This place is Awesome!!! That's all I have to say. The sashimi is top notch. They have fresh fluke which they get from a tank and then serve to customers back on the body of a still live fluke!!! Crazy fresh. If you are looking for a dining adventure with fresh sashimi this place is it!! Please do not judge the looks of the place. It's. Small place in a strip mall and it is always packed. Recommend it highly.

Had assorted Sashimi & the cooked Red Snapper. Everything was excellent. Service was a little unorganized but very friendly. Will definitely be back. Love their ramen & sushi rolls. Great sake selection

I come here very often. They have great sushi. Some of my favorites is Tataki Tuna and Tataki Salmon. Very nice family owned restaurant. I have been getting sushi from them for years. Never has been disappointed!

I tried this place out about two weeks ago since there were so many positive reviews...but eh. I lived in Japan three times in my life so I know good sushi and Japanese food, but honestly this was quite disappointing overall. We went on a Saturday during lunch time, but there was no one in the restaurant so it got me a little worried. Ambiance: It was empty so kind of "meh" to be honest. The waitress did not come out for a while and the guy who I am assuming owns/runs the place was just sitting there looking at documents and such. The insides look like some things were a little older (not necessarily a bad thing), but the tables were not the cleanest. I had to find a choose a table that wasn't grimy. Food: They brought us an edamame appetizer, which was good, as edamame is always delicious. I had the Tataki Salmon roll, which was not too bad. It has seared salmon over mildly spicy samon, I thought it was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. My bf on the other hand, ordered yakiniku (beef bulgogi) and was not very satisfied with his portion of the meal. The meat was dry and the rice portion was super tiny. They are korean-run so it was disappointing to get bulgogi that wasn't the flavorful, marinated meat we've all come to love. Definitely not worth the price. I can't say that we were too happy at the end of the meal. I don't know if we just went on a bad day, but I don't have much of a desire to go back to this place. Maybe I'll try again if someone else really wants to go, 2.5/5 stars for sure.

This place is amazing! My family makes this our Christmas Eve tradition. The Spicy Tuna Salad mmmmmmmmmm! and the rolls are the freshest around. Come in and enjoy the food.

Korean owned store with a Japanese sounding name/food. Came here for a small late lunch. Ordered a spicy salmon roll and a spicy seafood udon soup to split with my dad. Everything was A-OK indeed. Spicy salmon roll seemed haphazardly rolled, but at least it was the big-salmon chunk kind rather than the minced salmon kind. Tasted not really like fish or spicy sauce but whatever. The soup was okay too. A fair amount of squid and one piece of shrimp, no other seafood. The soup was spicy and salty enough, but nothing special, no depth of flavor, so it was not as satisfying as noodle soup should be. I was hungry and in the area, so it was definitely adequate. But I would not come here on my own accord to eat here.

Wow! I'm so impressed. Stopped by here for some sushi with friends and left more satisfied than I have left the nicest sushi places downtown. Very high quality, extremely fresh and decently priced! The owners brought out 3 complimentary dishes, and even complimentary green tea ice cream (my personal favorite) after our meals! The staff was very friendly and professional. I will definitely be back! Thank you for a great experience!

Desperate for sushi after 10 PM on my way home from OHare, I searched Yelp and found Shiroi Sushi. 20 year old family owned place in a strip mall slicing up some very tasty, fresh sushi at reasonable prices. Second-generation owner, David, is very friendly and customer oriented. I enjoyed some sashimi and rolls but I'm confident that I'd like anything I order at this place.

We made reservations for Mother's Day and was really looking forward to eating good, fresh sushi. We had a party of 6 and my parents decided to get the special sushi combination each. The remaining 4 of us decided to order some rolls to share and placed a small order to see what else we wanted to eat. I specifically told the owner that as I handed the sushi order to her in Korean. She didn't respond to that but took our order as is. We received a complimentary Korean pancake. And our parents' course meal began to come out. When their main entree came, the server spilled the tempura sauce all over my mom's white pants. They were barely apologetic at best. We had to ask them for some napkins and they brought over a pre-packaged wet-nap and a couple of napkins. At this point, I was quite shocked at how unapologetic they were. It was clearly their fault and at the very least, they could have apologized. We receive our sushi roll order and as we were finishing up, we decided to order a few more. Keep in mind that we only ordered 6 rolls for 4 people which is not nearly enough for a dinner meal. So we asked the owner to see the sushi menu again and she informs us that it is not possible to order anything else - that it would take 30-40 minutes. I was appalled. First of all, the restaurant can maybe seat 36 people at most! There were 3 sushi chefs which is usually the right number for a jam-packed restaurant. So I looked around and there was 1 table of 6 that was completely empty, another table of 3 that finished their meal, 2 tables of 4 that were looking at a menu, and 1 table of about 12 that did not have their entire party seated yet (I'd say about 6 guests had shown up so far). So my fiancé asked the owner again why we couldn't order any more rolls? And she said the chefs are so busy right now, it's simply not possible. Basically telling us that we need to leave soon. We usually order a small quantity of rolls to taste the quality of the sushi and then order more throughout the evening at other restaurants - this has never been a problem before! The owner came over again to refill our waters (we were there for an hour and never once received any water refills until we asked for some). And my mom asked how could they not serve us more food? The owner proceeded to clear some plates and spilled more soy sauce all over the table and just said they were too busy and hurried away. I'm sorry but this is NOT how you treat customers. I have never heard of not allowing someone to order more food at any restaurant. This is really unfortunate because the sushi was decent, but to basically shoo people out of your restaurant is absurd. To top it off, they never offered us any compensation for spilling on my mom nor apologized for the poor service. DO NOT GO HERE. Unless you order all of your food upfront and expect to be pushed out. The restaurant wasn't even full when we left. Our side of the restaurant which was 3 tables of a total of 16 people was completely empty. Now, tell me, how busy are you that you can't serve your guests a completely satisfying meal? You've lost my business, our family's, and all of our friends for sure.

I got the Godzilla Maki. I was sooooo looking forward too stuffing my face. Well I was surely disappointed. First of all I asked for an Iced Tea. Gross! It tasted like a dirty wash towel. Then I had a Miso soup, it tasted like Miso soup. Finally, I recieved my Godzilla, pros - big rolls, the con - the taste. I can't even describe the taste. It was an odd soapy taste! My least favorite Sushi Place thus far. FYI...this place is old and outdated so don't expect it to be a nice modern restaurant. It's also small. For me an outdated restaurant does not deter me from trying out a place, but for those of you who do, the deco might not suit your taste.

Probably the freshest sushi in town. We used to live nearby and would eat here about once a week. Now that we moved, sadly, we don't frequent this place as much as we used to. The wait staff is a little bit on the glum side, but since we usually do takeout anyway, doesn't matter much to us :-)

Delicious and amazing food. The restaurant itself is a little hole in the wall, but the service is excellent and thoughtful. I can tell they take such pride in their craft. I would definitely come back!

The fish (and salmon eggs, if you're a fan loke me) are super fresh! I'm impressed with the quality of their food, and the fact that they even have a live tank in their restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family! Note: this is a down-homey kind of restaurant. It's not a dressy place where you can take customers.

I came here with my friends for dinner last week and ordered sushi rice bowl. Usually it would be overflowing with food and fresh sashimi and veggies. This time the bowl was filled 1/3 of the way. I thought they forgot the rice, but I looked inside and there was a tiny, tiny bit. I will not be going back. We all are not coming back. It's not worth it. Last time I came here was a few years ago and the portions were way bigger then. Maybe management changed recently or something.

Ahhhhmazing everything! The service is stellar, sushi is fresh, maki rolls are freaking huuuuge but the restaurant is small. I came here for dinner with my family a couple weeks ago, on a week night. The restaurant was pretty busy considering it was a week night. The entree comes with three side dishes: pickled cabbage, pickled spicy peppers and seaweed with red pepper dressing. Very tasty! We started off with miso soup that was very salty. We had to ask for hot water so we could add it to the soup. My sister and I ordered three rolls: Godzilla, Rainbow and a specialty roll, I forgot the name. All three were monstrous! We were actually full halfway through the rolls. I should've taken a photo, I've never seen a maki that big. Seriously. My parents had a dinner for 2 special that came with a variety of nigiri, vegetable tempura and a California roll. The special includes a green tea ice cream at the end. My parents didn't even eat the green tea ice cream bc you can tell it's the artificial kind. I think the total for the four of us was a little over $150. Not bad at all. There's plenty of parking in the lot. This sushi restaurant is truly a gem in the burbs, located in a plaza. I will definitely be back when I visit my parents in the burbs!!

Like any good ol' Korean sushi place, they lay out the head of the halibut to show how fresh it is (i.e., the gills and mouth will squiggle from time to time). The food is above-average, the service is on a par with most Korean restaurants in Chicago (i.e., it's average at best) and the price tag is on a par with most Korean sushi places in Korea (i.e., it's dear). But given that Korean style sushi is non-existent in Chicago proper and a rarity in the greater Chicago metro area, it's only a matter of time until my next visit.

Been twice already. Had the Kamakazi and Godzilla rolls. Both were AWESOME! Both came with miso soup. One of the best places for sushi!! Try it!

I have eaten at this sushi restaurant more times than I can count and I can honestly say it is my favorite location to get a wide variety of authentic and fresh sushi. The family that owns Shiroi is extremely nice, and because my family and I are such regular customers, they frequently offer us sushi rolls that they are experimenting with on the house. The atmosphere is inviting, and you can see them preparing the sushi behind the large sushi bar at the back of the restaurant. The prices are very fair, and the sushi is always fresh! I always order the lobster roll, which is fairly pricey but delicious, with large pieces of lobster in it. The beef and asparagus appetizer is also delicious, and we usually get it along with our meal. My favorite piece of sushi at Shiroi might have to be the tomago (sweet egg), which is a piece of very sweet and soft egg on top of a clump of rice. To date I have never had anything from this restaurant that I did not like. If you enjoy fresh and authentic sushi, I would highly recommend Shiroi Sushi.

This is a great sushi restaurant. Great service and guaranteed top quality sushi. The sushi is so fresh that it melts like butter in your mouth. I love to order sashimi over rice dish because they will give you large portions of fresh sashimi unlike other places where they don't give you the right portion. Great place for you sushi lovers!

Came for lunch. Passed by the place & decided to go in since husband was craving for sushi. + Tank filled with live seafood so if you choose from these array, you're guaranteed to have fresh sea food + Sushi chef seemed friendly since I observed how he greeted/made conversation with the customer who ate at the sushi bar - Place was dirty & in need of remodeling - Ambiance is for people with ADD. When we came in, a Korean TV show was on by the sushi bar, another had the Animal Planet, and the radio was on. The Animal Planet TV show that was on was called "Infested" where they showed rats infesting a home. Yum! How appetizing! - Service from our waitress was sad. Came in, no greeting. Sat down, we were given 1 menu to share, and after a few mins. our waitress came with "What do you want?" (Wow! Hate your job much?) - Could've left but husband said to give this place a chance. Since place was dirty, husband did not want to order sushi for fear of food poisoning so he got the udon. I ordered the chicken teriyaki. PORTIONS WERE SMALL! Eh. Never again.

Based purely on the taste, I give them 5 stars. The restaurant is a small, but very friendly family owned business. You will see many Japaneese customers, which is always a great sign when going to a sushi restaurant. My boyfriend and I started off with the hot sake and the tuna tartare salad which is served with seaweeds. It was spectacular. Huge chunks of tuna covered in sesamee seeds. We were also served free miso soups and some potato pancake appetizer. We shared an order of the tataki tuna roll (which is just stuffed with fish), and the bento chicken terayaki box which is served with a california roll, some fried vegtables (sweet potatoes, brocolli) and tempura shrimp. Everything was really delicious. I say everyone should try it. I can't wait to go back and order the tuna tartar all to myself :) and maybe try more rolls

Been here countless times and love it every time. This is my boyfriend's family's go-to place for gatherings and such. It's a tiny place, so sometimes it can get packed, but I've never had to wait. Very friendly service... I think it's a family owned business... They now have a fish tank with live fish!!!! You can't get any fresher than that!!!! We always get their nabeyaki udon and spicy tuna rolls. ( and I mean ROLLS) Complimentary green tea and complimentary nooreung bop at the end of your meal. Nooreung bop is the crusty part of the rice that is left after cooking your rice in a regular pot. It's got a nutty and roasted flavor to it! Just a perfect end to a nice meal!

This place has fresh sushi and some of the best maki. They do not use a lot of rice like other sushi restaurants and they also provide complimentary miso soup, salad and edamame. The restaurant is small but they have great service.

This is my absolute favorite place for sushi in the northern suburbs. Don't let the location and the decor deter you from one of the best sushi experiences of your life. This place is the proverbial diamond in the rough. What maki to order: The Godzilla Roll- this is a MUST HAVE. It is a crab and shrimp tempura roll inside with unagi and avocado on top and topped off with a generous helping of unagi sauce and spicy mayonaise. This is pure heaven and worth every penny as it is HUGE. Really lives up to its name. I have had a variation of this roll in hundreds of sushi joints, but none, and I mean none, can match the craftsmanship and the flavor of this Godzilla. Mountain Salmon Roll- as much as I love the uniqueness and flavor perfection of the Godzilla this one is actually my favorite. It is spicy salmon inside with salmon and avocado outside. The fish here is always super fresh, and this roll just melts in your mouth. The flavor is of course superb with just the right amount of heat. Spicy Scallop Roll-the key to this roll is the freshness of the sashimi grade scallops, and this place always delivers. This is the tenderest and most balanced spicy scallop roll in all of the northern suburbs of Chicago. Tuna Tataki- If you have people in your party that prefer the taste of cooked fish rather than raw this is a great roll for them. It has spicy tuna inside (raw fish portion) with seared tuna on the outside. There is also a Tataki Salmon. These are my four favorite stand out rolls. However, I have probably eaten every roll on the menu over the years, and each one has been fantastic. All of the classics are solid here so you can feel confident ordering everything from the most basic california roll all the way to their unique creations like the Fire Roll (deep friend salmon, eel, masago, cream cheese, avocado, cucumber, and spicy sauce). There are plenty of vegetarian options, and there is even an option for diabetics or low carb lovers: the Naruto Roll (tuna, salmon, white tuna, crab meat, vegetables rolled up in sliced cucumber with ponzu sauce). While, I believe that maki is the most important part of my sushi experience some of you may be wondering about appetizers: Shumai- these are perfect tender morsels of shrimp dumplings topped with spicy mayo. Heavenly. Goruki- I don't know how to spell this, and it isn't even on the menu. But ask and you shall receive possibly the best thing you have ever eaten. This is mashed potatoes with vegetables made into perfect patties, tempura battered, and deep fried. If you become a regular sometimes they will give you some on the house, and this simple gesture will make your whole week. Trust me, it's that good. The rest of the appetizers are also good. The seaweed salads are always spot on and the soups and gyoza have always been good. This is a real family owned and operated sushi joint. They really care about the quality of their sushi and about their customers. You will always feel welcome, and the food will be fantastic time after time. Please try to look past the decor and the small space. The tea is always hot here, and there is soul in every bite.

I always drove by this restaurant for many years. I finally decided to give it a try with my wife and friend. We ordered the dinner combo for 2 and I was pleasantly surprised. It started out with a soup and salad and then came out the biggest and freshest pieces of sashimi and rolls. It did not just stop there. Out came next was a salmon's head yes the head of a massive salmon. At first I was hesitant but then when I took a bite I was in love. It was grilled and marinated to perfection, I found my new favorite dish! At that point we were not stuffed but good. Where can you be satisfied for 3 at a Japanese restaurant for just around 60 bucks! When we thought all the food was out then another dish came out. It was a spicy fish soup with rice and that just topped it off perfectly. I highly recommend this place! Try the Combo!

Not my first choice when it comes to a sushi joint, but it's close to home & we know the owners. Very very nice people. As others have voiced, hwe dup bop (japanese rice topped with fresh pieces of sashimi, lettuce, red pepper paste, sesame oil) is solid! Fresh fresh sashimi and they don't skimp on the portion size either :) Rolls are okay. I have had better and cheaper rolls in the city. Come here for the hwae dup bop.

This place is excellent! It is family owned and customer service is great, very warm and friendly. I've been to many sushi places in Chicago and this is my favorite place. I can't even make specific recommendations on what to order because everything they serve is absolutely delicious, fresh and high quality.

Most Sushi restaurants make me sick, or I just do not have an appetite for them. However I do have an appetite for Shiroi Sushi and do not get sick! I feel like I am treated like family, even though I am of a different ethnicity. They really do care about their restaurant and are super friendly. The establishment is cozy, it may not have all the amenities as other restaurants, but they do know how to make a sushi roll! Their prices I say are higher than some places, but their portions are usually larger than most Sushi places, and definitely taste better than many others. Usually one roll will fill me up, good Green Tea and Saki, and their Green Tea Ice Cream is a good ending to a filling and delicious meal. A few occasions they do give you a coupon to use to get five dollars off your next visit. I know I will continue going to Shiroi Sushi in Glenview, because of the atmosphere, friendliness, taste, and good time that people always have when I go in a group. Please give this Sushi restaurant a shot, and try their "Creamy Crunch!"

Came here the other night and it was pretty decent. Had the unagi and shrimp tempura rolls. Unagi is usually my favorite roll butttt their sauce had a weird cinnamon spice which I wasn't fond of... it didn't suck but it wasn't my cup o tea. The shrimp tempura on the other hand was great. I really enjoyed the heat of the tempura mixed with the cool temperature of the avocado. They also have teriyaki bento boxes, with beef, salmon, or chicken. It was pretty good, the box came with shrimp and veggie tempura, gyoza, a california roll and rice... safe to say I split this entire meal with my boyfriend and was stuffed. Its decently priced, about $35 for the entire meal..... Hit it up if you want a sushi fix in this area.

I wish I could give ZERO star. Based on review, I took one of good friends of mine who's visiting Chicago. Based on review, my expectation got higher. A family-run place, kind people, BUT...... ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE FOOD. How embarassing to my friend who was missed for a long time!!! Fish's not fresh. Cutting was so unskilled. Sushi rice was too sticky and gunky. Abalone, which they claimed to have been airlifted today from Korea, was slimy and not fresh. I have to question the level of knowledge and experience in tasting Japanese style seafood of other reviewers who gave multiple stars. No offence. You guys have to work on your tasting skills!! I absolutely disagree with any positive review about the food!! They are seriously misleading and wasted my money. Again, absolutely horrible food. Stay away. At least, people are nice. The wife of owner felt bad that I couldn't even finish a half of the meal served.

Hands down best hwedupbop in Chicago. It's also known as sashimi bibimbop. Assorted cuts of raw fish on top of a bed of lettuce & rice.. mixed with sesame oil + red chili paste. SO GOOD! This place is actually known for it. Regulars don't look at the menu ..they just order that. It's pretty big and SO GOOD! If you love sashimi.. try this! It's sashimi with a Korean twist :) But.. I remember I felt sick after eating a roll with avocado+raw salmon. Then again, MUSHY combos make me feel queasy, so I don't think it was their fault... it was just my choice of the roll I picked.

WOW! I love this place! I am not a big roll person but i tried my friends dragon and godzilla rolls and they were phenomenal! I order the hweydobap and there mae woon dae gu tang! THE BEST IN CHICAGO HANDS DOWN! The service is as EXCELLENT! I very highly recommend this place. And there sashimi cuts are PERFECT!!! Again this is definitely my spot for sushi, the 30 min drive is definitely worth it!

The sushi is superb and the service is amazing. My favorite role is the dragon role! This is a small family owned place who truly cherishes their costumers! My only complaint is the drab carpet and stained chairs, otherwise fantastic!

Pretty decent sushi place. I've been here only to carry out lunch specials. 2 standard rolls with miso soup for $9, 3 standard rolls with miso soup for $12. I wouldn't say that any of the rolls I've had are much better or worse than the average sushi place. Don't get me wrong, I love sushi, but the standard rolls are hard to get wrong (spicy tuna roll, shrimp tempura roll, spicy salmon, tuna w/ avocado, etc.). I've also had their sashimi bibimbop, I think it was $10 or $11 for their smaller lunch special version, and it was pretty good. The spicy, red, hot sauce is actually what makes the dish fantastic. It's sashimi laid on a bed of lettuce with rice and Korean hot sauce. I want to try their regular portion with more sashimi for $14 next time. I am tempted to try their specialty rolls but at $16 for Kamakazi, $15 for Godzilla, and $19 for Lobster rolls, it is really stretching my lunch budget. I will definitely be going back for lunch specials and maybe even come back for dinner to try their specialty rolls. It's fresh fish at a pretty good price and having lunch specials on their menu is always a good thing. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could but don't want to give it a 4. Decor is a drab, cheap tables and chairs. I thought the couple that owned the restaurant was very nice and provided good service.

Shiroi Sushi is pretty good overall. They are friendly and do hook you up with extras if you're a regular. But it all comes down to the ASH ROLL. Wow, it is good. Check it out. And if you're mouth is big enough, try the Kamikaze Roll.

  • Judy L.

Shiroi Sushi is a mom and pop sushi restaurant owned by Koreans. The tidbit about it being Korean owned is important because you would not find the specialties on Shiroi's menu at a Japanese owned sushi restaurant and vice-versa. The prices are a bit steep, lingering in the $20's price range per roll but the fish is always fresh and you also receive a lot of freebie dishes if you are a regular...which most customers are. A popular item on the menu is their "Sashimi Bibimbop" a mixture of sashimi resting on a bed of rice and lettuce with a side of Korean hot sauce to top it off. It's healthy, delicious and a good portion for 1 person. The restaurant is small but can be translated into intimate and cozy once you find out it's family owned.

This is my go-to place for sushi when I'm at home. It is a small, family-owned restaurant in a friendly, no-frills setting. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, and the customer service is great. Enough said!

My friend arrived early and was unsure about their hours as there was no sign outside the door. He used their bathroom and was then asked to wait outside. At this point i arrived and we sat and chatted in my car right in view of the door. Another couple arrived and they appeared to be family and exchanged warm greetings. When they left, he looked right at us and we had to motion to him whether it was okay to enter. When I walked in, I was excited since this place seemed like a nice hole in the wall and I anticipated great food and good service especially since we were the ones there. We chose a table and it only had one menu and the waitress only brought us another when urged to. It was clear when we were ready and we still had to pander for her attention to order appetizers. After we ordered, my friend had to remind her about his appetizer and we again had to struggle to her attention to order a main course and to get water later on. I ordered edamame ($5) and a chicken teriyaki dinner plate ($20) while my friend ordered ordered gomae ($6) and an udon ($18). The edamame was dry and undersalted. The chicken teriyaki dinner was rather sparse for $20. It came with a salad (with barely any dressing), soup (clearly from a box), and a bento box with chicken teriyaki, rice, 6 california rolls and tempura. Then chicken was moist but the sauce was oily. The california rolls were dry and the tempura looked unappetizing. My friend's udon was completely cooked, yet spartan. The spinach in the gomae was not cooked properly and the sauce was average. Overall, the place was too expensive and the service was nonexistant. I felt like everytime we asked for anything, we were burdensome to the waitress and that she just had better things to do.

I've been here twice. First time I had take out and the second time, today, I came to dine in. Both times I didn't like my experience..the atmosphere seemed very rushed. When we came to dine in, no one came up to us for a long time to even ask if we wanted a drink. Once she finally managed to come over, we told her what we wanted and then she told us that it would take about 40 minutes to get our food. They could've said that a little sooner so we didn't have to waste our time. Obviously we left.

Went again with customers from Korea. The aggressive behavior of waitress is bad. Maybe a young waitstaff with smiles on the faces of them rather than a person who seems to be a fish out of water. Serving fresh fish with the dirty appearance of restaurant, dishes not cleared and sewage smell is gross. Waitresses with bad attitude could maybe clean up before serving could be an great Joynt but no one wants to deal with a dragon lady

This place just keeps getting better. Everyone likes eating where everyone knows your name. Food for the body, and ego. A warm welcome can change the entire tone of your day. I'm averaging once a month here. Its not close to home, but on nights I'm headed back in for company meetings, you'll find me escaping to this sushi island in the sun. Shiroi is run by a family. They take tremendous pride in their product, presentation and you can see it in every aspect of your visit. They have these giant fish tanks. Why? Cause FRESH SUSHI, why. I've never been dissatisfied with a single meal here. While I clearly love my sashimi, I've had every roll at least once, and tried a few less traditional dishes along the way. All of it is cut clean (I'm oddly sensitive to this) and plated well. In addition, they offer specialty sushi too; Toro, Uni.... The mark of a great sushi restaurant is their ability to appropriately offer a wide selection, without compromising freshness. There is no compromise here! For the love of raw fish, come find out why I can't stay away :)

What's with the lady who never washes her hands in between serving customers and touching money? She doesn't even wear gloves. The quality of sushi is excellent. But the entire restaurant needs a serious cleaning. Young guy behind counter is very cocky, talks on his phone while working which to me is very unprofessional. Watch out, this place seems to charge you even for extra chop sticks. If you beg you'll get some water. Its a shame because their quality of fish is so great.

They offer very fresh sashimi, which is very hard to see in Chicago suburbs. Also they are good at various side dishes.

All I have to say is sashimi bibimbop. Yum! I love sushi... I have been eating it before I was born! That's what happens when you have a Japanese mother. You get roll your own sushi night instead of Taco night! That being said I was a bit skeptical about this place. They have super crazy rolls and some non-traditional items. But they made a believer out of me. My Korean co-worker took me there and ordered sashimi bibimbop. It was amazing!. I would have never ordered this bowl of rice and what looks like salad with fresh fish and spicy Korean sauces on it if I were there on my own. I am so glad he made me get it. The fish was super fresh and the sauces made a great compliment to it. We went again the other day with a very large group and they accommodated us easily since we called ahead. Does this place have the best service? No. Could the décor be updated? Of course. Is the food amazing? Heck yeah! And in my book, amazing food is the most important thing!
