Nice Mexican food restaurant; especially for Geneseo. They have a good vegetarian fajita meal. Pretty popular for the area; gets pretty busy around 5-8 pm; Tuesdays are half price margaritas. PS - The correct name of the restaurant is Los Ranchitos.

Thought this would be run by the same owners as the one by the exact same name in Rock Island. So disappointed to find this was not the case. Nothing special.

Quite good for small stop. Very pleased. Had the AL pastor tacos. Salsa was ok. No bones to pick. Big menu. Ample parking for a truck.

Surprisingly good mexican food for Geneseo. Very authentic, at least the tacos I had were. They had ketchup on the table which threw me a bit. They also had a HILARIOUS portion of their menu where they teach you how to pronounce "EN-CHEE-LAH-DAHS." Beers were $4 a pop and the menu in general was a bit expensive.

We are so glad to have a place like Los Ranchitos here in Geneseo. Great, authentic food - good FAST service - enormous menu - very fair prices. Well worth a try.

Los Ranchitos recently opened in Geneseo IL. The restaurant is located in the old Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant near the interstate. They have spent considerable effort to refurbish the restaurant. It's nice, but not very roomy. Especially, when you compare it to their Kewanee IL location, which is much more spacious. Never-the-less, the Geneseo location was packed for the first month after they opened their doors. The food is good. They have a pretty extensive menu. I wish they had some habanera sauce. They provide salsa and chips when with your meal. They also have some kind of red sauce in a small bottle on the table, but I don't really care for that brand. I normally order the chicken enchiladas and sometimes rice and beans. The food is more "authentic" than a Taco Bell or other similar restaurants. They offer free refills on soft drinks.

Good Mexican considering the area. Probably most authentic unless you go into the Quad Cities. The staff is helpful and the service was prompt. Let's hope it stays open! Its been popular when I've gone. Please go to this instead of Roy's, because this is way more authentic.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
