I hadn't been in New China for many, many years. I wasn't disappointed. The food is still fresh, delicious and made to order. The ambiance and look hasn't changed a bit since I was a little boy. Prices are still affordable, and other than expanding the menu a little, it is terrific. The lack of parking hasn't hurt this place one bit. It is always clean and the wait staff down to earth and friendly. It has outlasted Wongs and Suzy's and there is a very good reason why! It is a must for any out of towner who is subjected to Chinese buffets and Panda. This is real cantonese cooking.

New China cafe on E. main st. in Galesburg has been a staple for the local Lunch and dinner crowd for at least 40 years. This is a "Cantonese" Chinese restaraunt. So empahsis is on the light white sauces in such dishes as Moo-goo gai kew and many other traditional recipes. But the BIG difference has to be the: EGG ROLLS. I have eaten in China town in San Francisco and tried egg rolls all over this country and have never found a lighter tastier and more satisfying egg roll. There is no greasy or over-filled feel to these. Also give the won-ton soup a shot. Although they dont use green onion in it anymore it's still very good. BON APPETITE! Just a note that they also serve a decent american food and sandwich menu as well

I ordered a strange combination, crab rangoons and a pork tenderloin sandwich, to go when driving thru town one day last month. The pork tenderloin was so greasy and tasted like old oil was used that I ate one bite and threw it away. The crab rangoons had a strange filling and I am not sure what kind of homemade sweet and sour sauce it was but it was closer to duck sauce but still really bad. The sugar in it was not dissolved.. Again a taste and I threw it away. Disappointed and will not be back!

Wonderful place to stop by when you're visiting or staying in Galesburg. The owners are very nice and generous. Trust me. They will fill you up! So please be prepared and make sure you're stomach is empty! Just simply enjoy and relax.

BEWARE GO ANY WHERE ELSE EXCEPT HERE. this place sucks, david and chuck most be friends of the business or something because this food could barely be called slop! It was so bad i have a feeling they are just there to launder money or something. I am married to a 1st generation Chinese women, I know chinese food! I live close to san francisco i eat chinese food all the time. specifically cantonese food. I didnt expect a lot from this place but at least panda express quality..... I SPENT $40 AND SHE ONLY GAVE ME ENOUGH FOOD FOR MAYBE 2 PEOPLE WHEN I ORDER $40 WORTH OF CHINESE FOOD IT SHOULD BE ENOUGH FOR 4 OR 5 PEOPLE. HERE IS THE REVIEW. I came to Galesburg to visit my parents from illinois and i wanted to try some chinese food out here so i went to the one downtown. the lady at the counter looked chinese and i asked her for porridge, chinese style.. she looked at me like i was stupid... at that point i should have walked out but i didnt. so i ordered the regular stuff, fried rice, sweet n sour pork, chow mein, egg rolls, wonton soup and some dish that she recommended. Fried rice: IT WAS HORRIBLE, mushy and burnt and tasted strong of onions.... fried rice isn't supposed to be mushy. sweet n sour pork: it was OK, the sauce was like red water and the pork was way over cooked to almost a jerky. the chow mein was horrible, she gave me the chow mein over uncooked noodles... number one... its supposed to come with alot of sauce, the noodles she gave me where all crunched up and looked like they came out of a ramen package. absolutely terrible the wonton soup was WAY too salty and the wrappers where stale. The egg rolls where burnt... it looked like who ever made the egg rolls never made them before and some one tried telling them over the phone or somthing. they where in the shape of a square, OVER FILLED, oil was gushing out of them when i bit into them. the dish that she recommended was some vegetable beef plate with way to much sauce, the sauce was really bad, i cant remember what was in the sauce but i remember it was terrible. in closing... please shut down shop or get new cook's.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
