Very yummy place. It's a bit small which can make it a bit uncomfortable and the service could use some improvement!

Very good food and fast service . very good ribs. I prefer them over the tips even though the tips seem to be more popular. Comes with a lot of sauce but it is not necessary. The meat is good enough on its own. Half order of onion rings was plenty. This is a complete dive BBQ shack with good eats. Highly recommended.

Very shack-like, which is perfect for this menu. The ribs were smoked just right, 2 sauce choices (I preferred the spicy), cold beer on draft. Cole slaw cold and crisp, nice big baked potato, water bowl for your fingers a nice touch. Busy at dinner, but waitress very attentive and pleasant. I heard the chicken is worth the 30 minute wait, too. Would have given a fifth star if they had at least one craft beer on draft, but alas, no. Come hungry, you won't leave that way!

Good stuff. Yes its possible to have decent BBQ in central Illinois. Who would have thought that. The place is small, dumpy, has a collection of sticky plastic booths and picnic tables and appears to have one tiny co-ed bathroom. The service was very good here I also want to add. I had the 1/2 order of onion rings which was massive and enough for 4 people honestly. The rings were those thin kind of haystack ones that were tasty but real greasy and salty and I could hear my heart complaining as I had a few so I laid off of them and waited for my dinner. I had the ribs and wings combo all with their house BBQ sauce. They drown everything with the sauce but in a good way. Good idea to wear an old shirt when coming here though as you will be wearing some of the sauce by the time you leave. The BBQ sauce was the thick tomato type St. Louis style and it had a very nice balance of smoky but not too tangy. The wings were large and very good and the ribs were absolutely excellent fall off the bone good. I was very impressed. You also get some very good beans and coleslaw along with a big slice of Texas toast. Does the BBQ here compare to something like real Memphis or Carolina style? I don't know about that but its very good here and the people of Galesburg should consider themselves lucky to have such a gem of a local owned BBQ joint like this in town. I would go back here anytime I had a chance.

I loved this place. The portions were ridiculously large, the prices were low, and the building was old and rustic--just the way a good barbecue joint should be. I had the pork and ribs combo plate. It was a mountain of food. I ate most of the meat, but didn't put much of a dent in the sides. If you're in the area and are craving a BBQ fix, come give this place a shot.

I love this place! Headed back home and routing thru Galesburg to stop for dinner! I love the ribs and chicken. IF there is a line - wait. It goes really fast.

Always a good "down home" stop. A local fav for years.

Stopped by here on way through, based on Yelp reviews. LOVED IT! Don't you dare go to one of the nearby fast food restaurants. This place is perfect!

The 5 stars are for the ribs themselves. The "Shack" is truly rustic but who cares about the atmosphere as long as it's clean and the ribs are great. For the amount and the quality of food you get the prices are very reasonable. Again, the ribs are great, the sides (baked beans, slaw, fries/baked potato) are excellent, and the onion rings are the best I've ever had. Also, a thumbs up to the wait staff who have never failed to deliver good service and a drink refill whenever you need it. The following site will give you a little more info on the Rib Shack: pjstar.com/entertainment…

The Rib Shack has been around for generations. It's still a local favorite, and for good reason. The interior is very casual to say the least, but BBQ is supposed to be casual. The food is good and the portions are generous. The only issue is the BBQ sauce. I like a tangy sauce with a bit of a bite, this sauce is sweet with no bite whatsoever. That's probably why it does such a good business, as it will appeal to a wider audience that doesn't necessarily eat a lot of BBQ. If you looking for a good BBQ meal that everyone can enjoy, at a reasonable price, the Rib Shack should fill your needs.

Stopped in over the weekend cause it looked like a great little hole in the way kind of joint. Busy as could be which speaks well for them. They have been open for over 50 years and from what I can tell, it is simply because they have good food. The place is not much to look at, picnic tables inside a little loud building. Food was pretty good, although not as good as I had hoped. The BBQ sauce was a bit plain and there was not much smoke flavor in the meat, but the quality of meat was very good. The best thing there hands down was the onion rings. I could just put BBQ sauce over those and eat those all day long. A bit expensive in my opinion for this little town, however I am from Chicago so I didn't mind. And....with the traffic they have going through this place, you can't argue with their success. I also found their hours to be very limited, only open for dinner Tuesday-Sunday and closed on Mondays. Again, you can't argue with success, but this place could make a killing if they opened up for lunch and also offered additional or possibly outdoor seating.

The B-Q Rib Shack has a great atmosphere. It is very "smalltownish". The service is quick and accurate. The food portions are good. The ribs are very tender and taste great, however the 1/4 chicken was just ok. The sauce is above average. You can get a sandwich for $5, and rib plates range from $12 up I would definitely go back.
