This is a good spot for breakfast. There are always a lot of people, but I've never had to wait more than 10-15 minutes for a table. I always get one of their skillets and my son likes their soups. The waitresses are very friendly.

This is a decent place for breakfast. Everything was cooked well and the flavors were correct. I like their coffee too when I'm in the mood for something not so dark with an aggressive flavor. The waitresses all seemed nice and did a good job. Lunch is more of a hit or miss for me. Their portions for different sandwiches and such are so different. One sandwich might be huge and filling and another sandwich for the same price is almost laughable. All in all the place is decent. Not amazing, but good enough to get er done.

I love Lumes. Their food has been good each and every time I've gone. There's always a lot of people but I've never had to wait too long and they bring the food out fast! Prices are reasonable, especially for their portions. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for breakfast.

Delcious. I got the corn beef hash omelet and got whole grain pancakes. Perfect breakfast on this rainy day and great coffee too! Yum. I will remember this place for future reference.

Came here with my family while visiting the Chicago area. I shared the southwest omelette with my sister. It was very good and the serving was huge. Hence we had to share. 5 egg omelette...yikes. I had pancakes to go with mine. They were very tasty as well. However as.good as the food was it did not compare to our server Patty. She was fabulous. I would definitely come back again.

One of a number of Lume's restaurants in the south suburbs of Chicago...this one was pretty good. All of these Lume's are connected through their managers, although I don't know if the relationship is any deeper than that. But that said, you can tell the difference between each one just from the management. My favorite is the Lume's on 159th street in Orland Park (4 stars). This one in Frankfort (3 stars) is newer, having just been put up in the last few years. It is directly across the street from Alsip Nursery on LaGrange Road, so if you are in the neighborhood buying stuff for your garden stop in here on the same trip. Interior is nice and clean, food is typical Lume's...and I mean that in a good way. They have that huge menu here where they offer so many options...maybe one day they'll simplify it. Portions are usually too much to eat. Strawberry crepes are the best...eggs Benedict are very nice (get the half order)...coffee is pretty watered down. I wish they would get some substantial coffee to go with their nice breakfast meals...all of the Lume's suffer the same watered down coffee. The Nutella crepes are also very nice. The egg dishes are the usual...generally done very well. Lume's are a nice breakfast stop in the south suburbs.

    Huge Portions. Very good skillets!

The food is solid but overpriced. $3 for a fresh squeezed Orange Juice is far from ideal, especially for the suburbs. I was a Chicago resident prior to moving to the suburbs and I can say I've seen much more ingenuity in a breakfast menu in comparison. Especially for the price! MY BIGGEST ISSUE with this restaurant is the attitude of the older hostess. She seemingly goes out of her way to makes it painfully obvious she could care less you've come for breakfast and would like to be seated. She must be an owner to have that attitude and continue to be employed. The waitresses and other younger hostesses are great, she just routinely brings my entire experience down. I should also mention that I'm not "that person" that requires the greatest attitude in the world and feels like anything less than a HUGE smile is a fail. I can work with normal, she's just clearly having a bad day, EVERY SINGLE TIME I've been there. At this point I've probably been there over 20 times. It's gotten so bad that my wife and I researched a new breakfast restaurant to go to, if only, because I'd rather give my money to someone who at least acts remotely friendly and appreciative that I've come to eat at their establishment.

Came here again today. What can i say but that this place is consistently very good for breakfast and the service is always very good. Coming here for many years and knowing that I can depend on having what I want and how I want it is huge. Today I had the American club. It is a large turkey bacon club with all of the usual filings. I had mine with the homemade hash browns instead of the waffle or regular fries. Nothing wrong with the fries but we really love their hash browns. They are fresh made and truly one of the best you will find anywhere. The sandwiches here are served with a nice size cup of soup and a a large portion of slaw. We have tried most of the other breakfast diners in the surrounding burbs and this one is in the top 2 so far.

This is a really good breakfast spot in the south suburbs. I would say it's one of the places where I always know I will get a good meal and good service, and honestly both are equally important. If you're in the area and want a good meal, this is the place to go...

I like Lumes, even if I'm not sure how to pronounce it. Loomes? Lumms? Loomies? However you say it, I like Lumes. I test new breakfast places with the same first order: over easy eggs, crispy bacon, hash browns well done, wheat toast done light w/butter. Most places screw up at least one item: Lumes nailed it perfectly. Even while operating at blazing speed, they're paying attention. Expect efficient service from courteous and fast waitstaff, really good busboys, tasty omelets as big as a baby's head (you can get 3 meals out of those things!), clean booths, tables and restrooms and the best corned beef hash I've ever had, anywhere. Typical breakfast/lunch only place, yet better than most. It's almost always busy but tables turn quick: expect a short wait on Sundays. There's plenty of parking in the large lot. Noise level even when packed is quieter than most other breakfast joints. They have large tables to accommodate groups, good sized, comfortable booths for 2-4, and an old-fashioned diner counter where you can watch the cooks and servers execute a well-coordinated ballet of prep and service.

This is just the best place for breakfast or lunch. I would strongly suggest the chopped steak and eggs, the garlic herb wrap and the absolute best corned beef sandwich. Service is always good regardless of which waitress you have. Try it! You'll love it too. Just a great place.

Food was good here. I had a turkey panini and my husband had a Reuben. Good portions - we had cream of chicken soup which was also good. We asked our waitress of we could have some bread and she said bread didn't come w the sandwiches and would have to charge us 40 cents a roll??? Also when I initially walked in the rude hostess saw me and didn't say anything just kept looking down. After 3 minutes of her avoiding eye contact w me a man came up to seat us.

I had the Idaho potato eggs Benedict. . Very good. You get 4 eggs instead of 2... I asked for more Hollandaise sauce and they wanted to charge me a $1.00 for a little souffle cup!! Next time, put some more on it...

My family has been going to Lume's in Frankfort for years. They always serve a consistently good Midwestern breakfast. There generally is a wait on weekends but during the week you get seated immediately. The wait staff hustles and refills on coffee never need to be asked for. Certainly, the breakfast served in nothing outside the box, but is always good and we'll make a comment when traveling, " not as good as Lume's." Kudos for a consistently good breakfast.

This is hands down my #1 pick for breakfast. Their omelets are huge and very tasty. There is never much of a wait but by the time I drag my bum out of bed on a weekend its the afternoon. The prices are reasonable and service is fairly quick and friendly.

There is always a wait on Sunday for breakfast, but your wait is never long! Service is great and food comes out superfast! Food is very good. Always had breakfast, never lunch. Clean and neat.

I took the kids here for an early breakfast. They were off for a teachers institute. (Its nice how the teachers put these together for a long weekend now). I am a black coffee freak and I look forward to trying black coffee at new places. I thought the coffee was ok. I had the egg white omelet. It was huge and I could not finish it all. It was ok. Bacon was good but have you ever had bad bacon? My kids had the pancakes off the children's menu. They both thought the pancakes were not fully cooked or the batter was not mixed that well. They could taste the flour in the batter. The place was empty and I was only asked to refill my coffee once. Food came out super fast. I thought prices were a little on the high side.

My favorite breakfast place when I'm in town visiting my family. We've never had to wait more than just a few minutes for a party of up to 7. My favorite thing to get are the blueberry pancakes. Fresh fruit cooked into the batter. The pancakes aren't those comically large variety you get some places. They're dusted with powder sugar. Throw on some butter, and some syrup and dig in! We usually order lots of food when we go. Fruit platter, cottage cheese, banana bread. We've gotten the crepes, cajun skillet, it's all good here. Service is always friendly, and FAST, wow. I feel like the food/price ratio is really quite good here. If you go hog wild you're spending $10/person which is pretty reasonable. Great place for the kids. They have a helium tank for balloons for the kids on the way out. Lots of great Sunday mornings spent here. Will certainly be back.

Good pancakes. Everything went well, until the waitress told me "You'll never eat a better pancake again". What kind of gypsy curse was that!?! As I stated before, the pancakes were good, not great... and now I'll never taste a better than good pancake again. I guess I am stuck with waffles. I made sure to cross her palm with silver as I left. So far, no luck. PS - The parking was ample

Typical pancake house/all day breakfast place. If you're looking for your long, lost grandmother I'd start here. Food is decent.

This is my B side breakfast place, where I go right in town just to mix things up a bit. It is a huge restaurant with an equally huge menu. I love their orange juice and my 88 year old father thinks it is the best thing ever. But I just can't warm up to it. A LOT of food doesn't make it great food. I do think it is the perfect place to bring a HUGE group, older people, young babies or have a business lunch/breakfast. But it will never make it off the flip side for me.

It's a good place to meet my older brother for lunch. It has lots of tables, pretty good food and nearly always open. Give it a try.

I've always had good breakfast experiences here. Seated promptly, clean tables, and great waitresses. Food portions are pretty good, as they should be for the price. Never wondering where your food is, very fast cook times. Some items are expensive, like their fresh squeezed orange juice- although awesome- I don't get it anymore and just make my own at home. I did see their orange juice secret one time when I chugged one down quickly- raw sugar had settled in the bottom of the glass. My favorite dish is the Louisiana omelette w/ hot sauce. My girlfriend gets the sweeter entrees like symphony crepes and stuffed french toast. Always tasty!

A-OK. Typical Breakfast/Brunch place. The menu is large as well as the portions. Nothing really stood out for me except the orange juice. It was definitely fresh and unique. The service is quick. Perfect place to go after a long night that leads into the morning. It is a huge place so the spotlight on your walk of shame will seem much smaller...

The servers are good but lack personalities. The food comes out quickly but is average. However, the management is awful and I will never go back. I had banana nut French toast that was incredibly soggy. I asked for something else instead, and they told me that I would still be charged for the meal and the additional item that I would order. I couldn't believe it, so if your eggs are cooked wrong, you would have to still pay for those, and the new item u would order. She then offered a box for the soggy French toast if someone else at my house would like it. Yeah, because I know so many people that love soupy French toast. I will be going to another breakfast joint for here on out.

Good breakfast option, although a bit pricey for items such as omelets as compared to similar breakfast places. The menu is fairly large but standard for breakfast. Quality of coffee is important, and this place has pretty good coffee, lots of choices for sweeteners, and cream. The menu is huge. For breakfast I usually get an egg white omelet. Egg whites and fruit are extra. The fruit is fairly bland as compared to some places; definitely heavy on the canteloupe. The Pancakes are always unique, although I haven't had them recently. They have several seasonal specials for pancakes, salads, sandwiches. I've also eaten lunch here a few times. They have great chicken noodle soup; paninis; and chicken salad croissants. The service has always been great at this place for both lunch and breakfast. I think you'll like this place.

Their food is just okay and their prices are hight. A large oj is the size of a small beverage anywhere else!

Over priced food, non-attentive wait staff and a hostess that either hates her life or her job, maybe both. This past weekend was a disaster: sour fruit on my daughter's fruit plate -- which was close to $9.00. No hot-tea selection, just a bag of lipton -- ($3.00 for one tea bag) and luke-warm water, and french toast, which may have tasted great when warm, but by the time the waitress brought the sugar-free syurp - it was ice cold and tastless. And for the record, she didn't actually bring the syrup, our table was on the other side of the half wall from the kitchen, so when she was dropping off the check and I reminded her I needed sugar free, she just yelled to a bus boy, reached over me (I'm still having nightmares about that) and grabbed it from him and set it down. Never again. No wonder it was so easy to get a table on a Sunday mid-morning...

Being the breakfast whore that I am. I head out to Lumes. They are always crowded so it must be good. The place is inviting and friendly. I love an omelet so I go for it. It comes out and I am like what the! this thing is huge. Happy me. It was very good. I also ordered a side of pancakes and they were good also. Service is right on food is good. Prices are a bit high.

I have been coming to Lumes for years. They have several locations and they seem to be very disciplined and concistent. They are all very clean and inviting. All the food that I have ever eaten has been top shelf. The pancakes are fluffy and light. The omelets look more like burritos they are so big. Their skillets are very hearty. If you don't like what's in it or would like more ingredients, just ask. It says two eggs on the menu, but they give you four. And they are the freshest eggs I have ever tasted. Except when my grandmother made me go get um from the coop. They have very generous portions. I have had their burgers, turkey club, rubin. All very good. But the breakfast's are what they are known for. The menu is quite extensive as to please everyone. Very family friendly. Expect to wait on the weekends. And they are only open until 4pm everyday. Revise 4/19/08 O.K. I'm done with this place. Three bucks for an orange juice? Nine bucks for a skillet. That when I peeled back the eggs, it left me wondering where the ham and hashbrowns went? Your going to raise the prices through the roof and give me half of what you used to. Now I know why it was empty on a Saturday morning.

i got a veggie skillet and it was gross also told the cashier their was something floating in my hot tea and she said did i tell the waitress well no i was telling her so she could take money off for the tea and skillet that i didnt eat and she didnt take a penny off and we said we wont be back and she said oh so sorry well good luck with that place used to be good but went down hill,.............the one star is for the toast i ate

Well, I haven't been here for about a year i'll admit, but this is a local chain, so I doubt much has changed. The place has very good breakfast and good service. The prices seem a bit high if you just look at the menu description and the price next to it, but when you see your plate, you understand. There are other places that I prefer to go over Lumes... mostly because of the price and the hours that they are open. But, I definitely keep Lumes as an option.
