They corrected the oversight without a single word to me. Then I began to eat after getting on the expressway and realized that the chicken I was eating was not the spicy chicken I ordered. Well, I'm not going to backtrack to get the correct order, am I?

See that sign there? It reads "10 PCS MIXED OR TENDERS $12.99. Now, I'm not an English major, but I thought this meant I could get 10 pieces of mixed chicken for $12.99. Silly me. I pull up to the drive through, and ask for the special for $12.99. The lady asks me if I have the coupon. I say, no. Then, I tell her I want the deal posted on the big bright sign outside. She continues to tell me I need the coupon. Whatever. I decide to go with it. I pull up to the window and ask for hot sauce and bbq sauce as I was receiving my food. The lady hands me two hot sauce packets, and tells me it's 50 cents if I need BBQ sauce. Food was ok, but I can not support this type of practice. Never again.

Went in to order and seen that their employee hand washing sink was blocked off and not in use but they put a bottle of hand sanitizer in it's place because, you know, that's the same as soap and water. Mmmm love that typhoid chicken from Popeyes!

The drive through is horribly designed and takes forever to get through. It's almost worse going inside. Too bad this is the only one in the area.. The food. Is decent but you better be in a patient mood to deal with this place.

Love the chicken.hate the service very slow.I been going to this location for years and they have not improved in the poor service.there been times that I prefer to drive does extra miles and go to the one in Hanover Park then having to deal with these guys

Love there chicken , the restaunt just got remodeled so its now super nice. The food is always great but I agree that the service is alittpe on the slow side. I have come back to this location multiple times and am always impressed. Can't ask for anything more than good fried chicken.

I love Popeyes but this one...yeah it needs help. Service is very slow and the place is not that clean. The couple of orders I've had here were sub-par for what I normally expect to be good chicken at Popeyes. Definitely disappointing to a fan of the chain!

While I have always enjoyed the chicken from popeyes, the service has been a hit or miss. Today, I tried to order at the drive thru, and was basically refused. Keep in mind this is at 8:40pm, 20 minutes from the closing time. The attendant took my order, then when I got to the window informed me there would be a wait 10-15 minute, did I still want the order? I said yes, please. I went to the atm and returned to pick up my order 15 minutes later. The attendant informed me there would still be a 10-15 minute wait. So, now its 8:50, and still no chicken is cooking. I declined to wait and left with my money. I won't be back.

Everyone, My own imposed rules for any Chain Restaurant review: 1. Must visit at least three times. Two of which must be distinctly different formats; i.e. one weekday night and one weekend night. 2. Since the food should be the same everywhere, with the exception of regional items, the food category will only be judged on the quality of the expected food (i.e. temperature, consistency, and amount). 3. Ratings are based on a 10 point scale with 5 being average, which does not mean bad. What a score of 5 means is that the category meets expectations for that establishments format. Thanks. Popeye's Chicken - Elgin West Location/Layout - 4/10: The Elgin Popeye's is located on Big Timber Rd, just west of McLean. The store itself is a renovated (albeit years ago) TCBY. Because of the renovation, the eating area is quite small as is the parking lot. Additional parking is available in a neighboring lot, which allows additional patrons overflow if their small lot is filled. The dining area is usually clean and has standard fast food plastic booths and tables. Service - 5/10: The order takers are usually friendly and the cooks are at times efficient. One of the things I like is that they try to cook less food more often, which leads to fresher/hotter product but this can also create log jams for guests and confusion in the cooking line. Food - 6.5/10: We come here for one reason and that is the spicy chicken. The cajun fries and the biscuits are close seconds. While we have sampled other menu items we have found other area restaurants that serve our pallets better for those items. But the spicy chicken is great and keeps us coming back. There are times when you get a taste for that particular blend of seasoning and nothing else will do. Additionally, they offer their cajun fries, which are essentially seasoned long branch fries, and really flaky buttery biscuits which compliment the spicy bird very well. The lone complaint is the tyranny by which they hoard their dipping sauces. We will at times choose the spicy strips and they have a very strict policy that you can have only one sauce per strips order. Additionally, they will only let you have the sauces if you order a dipping item, i.e. strips, popcorn, strips, etc. Although, in their defense you are allowed as much Louisiana hot sauce as you can handle, which suits me just fine. Overall Experience - 6/10: We frequent Popeye's at least once a month when the craving for spicy chicken hits and we are never disappointed, at least not until the next day. With a combination of fairly fast and courteous service and a unique product at a fair price we will continue to be regulars.

There could be no cars in line and you will still wait 10-15 minutes for the chicken. They will mess up your order, yes. Again though this is the price you pay for the greatest chicken on the planet. Advice. On Tuesdays they have what we call "Cheap Chicken Tuesday". You get a 2 piece meal (spicy or regular, dark or white) with a small side and a biscuit for just $2.99. You can't beat that with a stick.
