Omg, I had the most amazing pastry here (kouign amann) this morning. Flaky, buttery, sugary crispy goodness... I had never had something so decadently amazing in my life. The place was bright and clean, the owner was very courteous, friendly and knowledgeable, and the coffee hot and never-ending. And that pastry, though! Support this awesome local business- you won't regret it.

OMG, they have been open 14 months today and I don't know what I have been waiting for, but it won't be another 14 months before I'm back! We sampled the Wide Awake, Brendan, Salty Turtle, Nutty Columbian and Macarons. Everything was made to perfection.

Delightful. Simply delightful. The owners are very nice, friendly. The place is so clean! Opera Cake is amazing, and made in-house like everything else. Yummy, fresh, and a real gem to have in Edwardsville!

Stopped in to check the place out today hoping to find something delicious. It was around 3 pm, and it appeared as though they'd had a busy day - which I love to see for local businesses. The front case selection was a bit sparse, which I'm attributing to being late afternoon. *3/25 Edit: Stopped in this afternoon around 2, and the cease was very well-stocked!* Service was friendly and informative. Walked out with a chocolate mousse dome and enjoyed it hours later after dinner. One dome was just enough for two people. The exterior of the dome had a nice dark chocolate flavor that complements balances the lighter chocolate in the mousse. The mousse itself was creamy and fluffy without being too airy. Great texture and flavor, and the peanut butter inside was rich and creamy. Not too sweet, which was perfect for a rich dessert. The price ($4) was pretty reasonable, especially considering the high quality. I'll definitely be back. A really nice addition to the dessert scene, especially if you're looking for something beyond cupcakes or ice cream.

I made a stop into Brevan's on my way through town on the advice of a friend. While the counter was well stocked and looked appetizing, I'm sorry to say that most of the pastries were of the "wholesale" quality. (Do an online search for any online pastry wholesaler, like Opera Patisserie to see what I mean). I did purchase a few for dessert, and they were, spot on, production quality. While some of the items did indeed look home-made, I purchased a Chocolate Banana dessert (topped with a rather stale French macaron), as well as a few others. While the desserts were good, they screamed "freshly thawed." I guess it's a good enough place to try, but don't be fooled by the story on Brevan's website. If they really do have "French Pastry School training," they're not putting it to good use here.

I've dropped in to Brevan's a few times now, and am finding it harder and harder to resist the urge to splurge. Everything I've tried has been great. The chocolate in their tarts is perfect. Their special Brendan chocolate mousse dome with peanut butter inside is terrific. I finally tried their cheesecake yesterday. Some of the best I've had if you like it with a rich, dense consistency. I had the peanut butter cheesecake. What a treat! The only thing I've had that I wished was different was the chocolate croissant. It was good, but I like mine a bit more light and flakey. The inside was just a little dense that day. Having Brevan's in Edwardsville is a great addition. If only I could make it in to try one of the eclaires!

I rarely get pastries to go; prefer to dine in and enjoy them with good coffee. That being said, I'd recommend you get the pastries to go. Very nice selection, presentation in the case is outstanding. Owner came out to talk with us which was a nice touch. Counter service person was very nice, too. We ate a good blueberry muffin and a good pecan sticky bun. The mini-cheesecake we took home was excellent. If I'm ever wanting pastries to go, I'll come back again.

Always love to try new business and this one is literally new at less than 2 days since opening. We found a case and pastry area full of tasty goodness we opted for the Brendan and a Nutty Columbian. Which were outstanding. Good taste and texture that you would expect in a $4.50 dessert. So we decided to try another which was called the Opera. It has the appearance of tiramisu but that was where the similarity stopped. It was an interesting light coffee flavor, and a denser body. Great start for the first week. It should definitely be a dessert stop. I could see an expanded selection of coffee drinks to accompany the dessert selection.

We have been to Brevans several times and love it. The cookies are delicious and very reasonable. The creme brule was a big hit. And the pastries look as good as they taste. I don't understand how one reviewer said they thought deserts were frozen. I have seen the owners in the back mixing ingredients, melting chocolate etc. the place is super cute and everyone is very friendly. We have purchased assortments of goodies for parties and everyone has loved them. Check it out!
