We used to live in Glen Carbon, but we moved to Austin, TX. When we lived in Glen Carbon, we made frequent trips to Bobby's without having anything but a good experience. While visiting our daughter and son-in-law in Edwardsville, we decided on a trip to Annie's on Buchanan. I really hate to post this, but we would've probably been better off at DQ. Who ever heard of putting the syrup topping in the bottom of the cup....just plain stupid. We also tried to get a smoothie, and got the response of "The blender is broke." What??? You mean you only have one friggin blender in this operation??? Loosen up the purse strings and buy a backup. This is truly a poorly run outfit.

I'm not sure if most of the reviewers are just locals that haven't gotten out much, but this is just not a hot spot in my eyes. The custard just tastes like straight sugar. I tried the butter pecan concrete with hot fudge and caramel. My hubby got just butter pecan and they tasted just about the same. I wouldn't stop again. Prices are high and taste just not there for me. The inside is cute and they,do have a drive thru.

A favorite local spot for kids and families. A frequent fundraising partner with local organizations. "All-fruit smoothies" are gluten-free, but, sadly, there is no celiac-safe custard.

A lot of other places in the area that are better tasting and not as hard on the wallet. If you want great custard Bobby's is fantastic. If you are looking for sherbert try dairy haven in caseyville or north side in edwardsville.

Speaking as someone who can eat ice cream as well as write reviews, I give Annie's 2 stars. Yes, it is a local favorite for kids and families. Yes, it's a good outdoor ice cream spot. However, the ice cream itself is the same exact thing you can find at Bobby's (in Maryville) or Dairy Queen.

My personal experience... great. I've been twice and tried both the normal vanilla and the vanilla lite. Both times got the cookie dough. LOVED it. Tip : let it melt some, tastes even better then!!

I'm amazed about two things: 1) Annie's has only one previous review, and 2) it's only 3 stars. I am assuming this is because if you have celiac disease you cannot eat the ice cream. I do wish there were options for the wife of the previous reviewer...but please, everyone, WE LOVE ANNIE'S, DO WE NOT?! (And are there celiac-safe custards at comparable places like Ted Drewe's or Bobby's? Not sure about that.) Our whole family goes to Annie's as frequently as we possibly can, all summer long. My dad, who is diabetic, gets his beloved sugar-free custard with raspberry or strawberry topping, and he is happy. I get the delicious toasted coconut and pecans on my chocolate custard, and my mom, my husband, the cousins, and all the kids get whatever they desire, with sprinkles. The custard is simply so very delicious!!! And you know, nobody should eat much ice cream anyway, since it's so fatty and sugary. So why not just pay for some fresh, local Annie's now and then rather than buying less-good stuff from the grocery store and stocking your fridge? Plus, you can go out on the town in Edwardsville and people-watch (seeing little kids eat ice cream at the little tiny tables is especially amusing). This is the place to be before concerts outside the library, after fireworks on the 4th of July, and really on any hot evening when you're sure you've had plenty of exercise lately...or are going to get some exercise soon... FYI, prices might seem high, but portions are very large, so I often just get the kiddie cup.
