Typical Chicagoland Beef/Hot Dog Stand, which means really good greasy food resonably priced. Beef is sliced thin and full of flavor and the fries always come out hot and crunchy!

Great homemade Italian Beef, meatballs and Giardinara from family recipes! I Love Little Joes! Family owned small business just outside La Grange in Countryside. Tender, juicy flavorful shaved beef and a delicious homemade giardinara that isn't going to burn your mouth - put it on everything, dogs, meatball, sausage. On the rare occasion I don't order a beef, I get a meatball which is also homemade and is amazing. Probably the best I have had. They also have the natural casing Vienna dog and do a great chilli cheese dog or Chicago style. Italian sausage is flame grilled and makes for a nice combo with that tender, juicy beef. During lent, Gina hunts around from store to store to buy the best eggplant so she can make her famous and delicious eggplant parm for sandwiches on Friday, don't be surprised if its all gone if you don't get there early. I have had catering from Little Joe's and that was awesome too. You will always see family members working and that to me is what makes a small business successful and a place I want to send people to time and time again! Thanks for all you do Angela and Gina & family to keep us in the beef!

Got a terrible hot dog with mustard, onion and relish. I thought that I ordered a hot dog with everything on it. Since I've lived in chicago my whole life, everything on a hot dog to me is: beef hotdog,poppy seed bun,onion,relish,mustard,tomatoes,sport peppers,& A pickle spear. The picture of this hot dog is on the sign of the business. No standards.

Update! Today at 12:30 PM, when I put my order in, they claimed they ran out of American cheese. Really? They also failed to get my sandwich right by only putting mozzarella cheese on it and nothing else. So I had to take a trip up to the counter to remind her that I wanted lettuce and tomato also. Oh yeah.... the men's washroom is still broke. But hey they get 2 stars for a good grilled chicken breast.

Little Joe's, a neighborhood spot near Plainfield Rd. and La Grange Rd. in Countryside, makes a pretty decent Italian beef sandwich. The meat is sliced thin and, while not as highly seasoned with oregano and garlic as some, had a very tender texture and an excellent "beefy" quality. The hot giardiniera, as many before me have noted, has an unusually high concentration of celery as compared to many I've had, but there was enough heat present that I don't think it's a notable flaw. I'd rather have too much celery than carrots, texturally speaking. Because the fries are of the crinkle-cut frozen variety, there is a ceiling to how good they can be. They hit that ceiling pretty effortlessly. I take issue with the small $0.65 cent surcharge for the cup of processed american cheese dip for the cheese fries, but let the record state that I never seem to be satisfied with the value of that particular addition. It's even more at some places. The decor is less than elegant, but with a neighborhood beef place like this, I'm neither surprised, nor disappointed. There was an employee (perhaps the owner?) in one corner of the dining room complaining about President Obama campaigning on the TV. Whether that is a plus or minus is entirely up to you. Overall, I was pretty impressed with the IB sandwich I had here. I'd put it on par with the former Carm's in Hillside, or possibly even approaching Al's on Taylor (though not quite there). For my money, it's a bit better than those found at Buena, Portillos and Paul's Pizza. When push comes to shove, I'm a Johnni'es guy at heart. I will definitely be back.

I've been going here for over 10 years now and they have my favorite chili out of any place I've ever eaten at. Their sausage and beef is really good pretty much everything on the menu that I've had is really good, you can't go wrong eating here.

This review is focused on the italian beef here. Very disappointing after being mentioned on the show, Chicago's Best. Nothing to see here, move along. I will just assume their hot dogs are the focal point.

Little Joe's feels like home to me. I used to go here with my dad when I was little. Little Joe's is fast greasy food like hot dogs, gyros, french fries etc. I only want Joe's after a hangover or a bad day at work. Here's what I don't like: the sisters that run the place they are RUDE.

Stopped in for the first time since 1981. Used to eat lunch here all the time but left area. It is just as I remembered and still just as good! The beef is still the best I ever tasted. The fries were fresh, clean tasting. I could see the oil they were frying them in and it was as clear as a bell. What a tender flavorful roll. I am back for good! I have been going here for many years and have watched the size of their Italian Beef get smaller and smaller as prices have risen. It's a very good beef and their giardeneria peppers are very tasty. Typically a beef, fries and a large drink is about $10. Their drinks are very "watered down". Today I ordered a Sierra Mist that tasted like plain old soda water only. You tell them and they offer you something else and seem not to ever correct the problem. I used to go there about twice a week, but now, go there maybe once a month. Too many other places for Italian Beef that is more reasonably priced and places that give you self refills on your drink for $2 less per meal! They now have Video Slots that are more of an annoyance to me. I miss the "old days" when they had several bowls of Giardineria in the dining area and paper napkins on the table.

Typical Chicago beef and dog joint, and a damn good one at that. Their cheeseburgers (they use white cheddar) are good too. Although there's an Al's Beef next door, I've never seen or been inside an empty Joe's. It's not an impressive place inside or out, but the food has always been great.

Glad that I took the advice of the yelpers. This is a great, local, no-frills joint. Places like this are one of the joys of living in Chicago: it seems as if there's a mom & pop gem around almost every turn. While Al's a couple doors down may have the name recognition, I can guarantee you that I will go to Little Joe's 10 times out of 10. The beef was shredded into very small pieces and had excellent flavor. The fries were cooked well done and excellent as well. Beef, fries and a medium drink ran a little under $10 which isn't cheap, per se, but worth it when you're craving an Italian beef.

This place is a great, family-run place that makes your meals fresh to order. You can dine in or take out and their Italian beefs are great - better than the competitors, in my opinion. Beef, mozz, hot peppers with juice. Mm-mm. You must try the onion rings, too, they're the best I've had. It seemed like the owner guy knew a lot of the people that came in and made nice small talk. Two cops from 2 different towns were there getting food - that's how you KNOW it's good... ;)

THE BEST DOGS AND BEEFS YOU WILL EVER HAVE!!! this is my absolute favorite place, portillo's has nothing on them--best food, best value, best service (family-owned and operated). if ratings went higher than 5 stars little joe's would deserve every one of them. i also highly recommend the mostacolli on wednesdays, delicious and very affordable. cannot say enough good things about this place

Family owned and operated, they are the nicest people you can meet! food is great, ample parking! Been eating here since 1987!! usually at least 2 times a week!! Once you eat here you will become a regular!

There are a few things in my mind that taste like childhood. Grilled cheese and applesauce, push-ups, grandma's potato salad and of course, Little Joe's hot dogs. This place has been an institution in the area for years and I can't wait to take my children there and tell them about how their grandpa played baseball with the real Little Joe. Im pretty sure we'd be eating off of the same counters and sitting on the same chairs too. That's how they keep the prices low right? I usually go for the standard hot dog (mustard, relish and onion) with a cup of cheese for the fries that already come with the dog. The Itallian beef is pretty good too, the jus has a nice flavor and goes well with the melted mozz. Every Friday they have clam chowder as their soup of the day and it is amazing! I have loved that soup since I was a kid and nothing from a can tastes that good. Soda is still served up in a styrofoam cup and from what I understand they serve beer there too now. I will stick to a hot dog and sprite thank you Little Joe's hot dogs are exactly the way they should be, fast, delicious and cheap. A full meal with all the food groups (meat, cheese, soda?) for around 5 bucks. I dare you to find a way to lose here.

I've been living outside of the Chicago area for the past 7 years, and the first place I go when I visit home is Little Joe's. Joe's doesn't have the name recognition of Al's, Johnny's, or Carm's, but their beef competes with the best of them. Get it with hot peppers and fries and you won't be sorry. They're also supposed to have good dogs and combos, but I always get the beef so I can't comment. Don't expect much from service or atmosphere, it's just a local joint with good food and a couple of tables.

Okay so watching a tv show about Nathans hot dogs when you're hungry is not a smart thing to do. It was weird, I all of a sudden had a craving for a hot dog and I don't even like them that much. We've drove by this place several times and always wanted to try it. After reading the reviews about the beefs, we were on our way. I ordered a chili cheese dog, a cheese dog and a large sierra mist, my partner ordered a beef and large pepsi, and onion rings. My dogs came with fries so I got a cup of cheese on the side. If you follow my reviews you already know my obsession with cheese sauce. The hot dogs were tiny but they were good. They have that snap when you bite into them. The fries that come with them are scarce. It's less than an order of small fries at another joint. They are crinkle cut fries and they are good. Crispy outside and creamy inside, just like they should be. The onion rings are just meh. It's a breaded batter and I prefer the cornmeal batter but they seem like they are home made and not the frozen stuff. Actually, the beef was a little bland. No way is it better than Casciani's or Portillos. It was good but it tasted like it was missing something. I did like how thinly sliced it was. Often I don't order lemon lime sodas from a fountain because they taste like metal. This was no different. I didn't ask if they had fresh brewed tea because I saw they had tea in the fountain, no thank you. We will probably go back. I'd like to try the beef made the way I like it. It's not some place we will go out of our way to get to or schedule for our dinners out. I say, if you are close and want a hot dog, check this place out. Or total ticket was $21.08. I feel for the amount of food we actually received this was a little overpriced.

Best of the best Italian beef sandwiches to ever hit your taste buds. Wafer thin slices of beef that are perfectly cooked and seasoned. Melt in your mouth perfection. Crinkle cut fries cooked crisp, and cold soda makes this fast food to be enjoyed in the slowest way possible.

This place is where it's at when it comes to a good Italian beef. After trying Al's and Portilios, Joe's has them beat by a mile. The dogs are great also, but I enjoy the beef more. This is one of the best places to go after a hang over also! The service is fast and they are always very friendly. I'll be back for sure.

Beef. And hot dogs. The typical Chicago fare. It doesn't get better than this. Try not to get sucked in by Al's or Jimmy John's. Those newcomers have nothing on Little Joe's. This place is a local institution and business didn't even hiccup when those guys opened up. The service is fast. The beef is dropped as needed. Hot dogs come with fries. The fries are outstanding! When you order, "Beef. Hot. Dry." they know exactly what you want. some folks don't like the giardiniera because it is heavy on celery, but I love it! I've been getting beef here for 35 years and it has always been the same outstanding sandwich. The only change has been the recent addition of a grill. (ok, a few years ago they got rid of poppy seed buns and went to skinless franks.) Hint: if the parking in front is full, pull around to the back door. Don't try to park by Al's -- they will have you towed.

I had the beef and peppers with fries. I see the lady wrapping up the sandwich and I know something was wrong. They are making the sandwiches smaller. WTF! Charge me the extra 50 cents and give me the regular size. So I get the beef and burnt, cold fries and head to the register to get my soda. The lady askes what I want and she starts pouring. But wait, the phone rings. She starts yaking with whoever is on the other end of the horn and having an argument with her sister. Because employees don't talk to management that way and still have a job. As I am waiting this little brat starts screaming at her mother on the phone. She glances at me, climbs the counter and is headed for my tray tryng to grab what's on it. When she finally give me the soda, it's like 3/4's to the top. Are you fucking kidding me with this shit. Fire your ungrateful sister, get the kid in school, stop talking to relatives on the phone and take care of your customers.

I grew up in the area and have tried every hot dog in the city, Little joes is the best in the world. Disregard any thing negative said in previous reviews, no little joes is not dressed up, it's great people and better food in a little neighborhood joint. I eat at least 3 hot dogs everytime I go with extra cup of cheese for my fries.

I have been going to Little Joes for ten years, and it is by far my favorite spot to get a hotdog. The other week I went into LJ's and for some reason decided o order a beef, even though I hadn't done so for over 5 years because I never felt it was very good. The only place I ever order Italian Beef is Johnnies in Elmwood Park, but I was taken aback at how good this beef was from little joes. They have great hot dog, polish, and beefs, but thats pretty much all i've ever gotten from there. They recently added burgers which I am waiting to try. They have great food and even better service, awesome fries........ the only thing that I would not reccomend from LJ's would be their hot peppers, its pretty much just celery and brings down the flavor of whatever your eating. Overall my favorite hotdog joint in the western suburbs.
