Great chorizo tacos can be had here at a thrifty price. There's nothing special about the decor, but you get no nonsense prompt service, with chips to begin of course. The steak tacos were also up to expectations. A couple of regulars were there for the tortas, which also looked like a good deal. Authenticity is not a problem here, actually it's not a problem in the entire neighborhood if you're looking for Mexican food! The population in the area is primarily Hispanic. Great option if you're low on cash but in the mood for some good chorizo.

I was at taqueria Alamo on 11/22/2014 sever was Nayelly employee 25 At 8:30 pm with a friend it was only two of us, having only one drink each of us and 3 beers & appetizer and torta and 2 gorditas the services from the waitress was not good at all never came to the table to check how we were doing or needed anything else never offer us dessert which would have liked, But the worst thing about this she had the nerve to add $7.91 gratuity tip to the bill and never told us that the tip was add on , when I asked the waitress Why she added the tip when it was only two of us she stated its the restaurant policy the owner wasn't there I asked the waitress to remove the tip or I would call the police to make a report she did remove the tip, but no were in the restaurant does it state that the tip will be added on I have heard of added a tip when it's a party of 5 or more, very unhappy will call the village of wheeling to see if anything could be done about this so it won't happen to other people.

The tacos were greasy and not had much taste to them. I didn't eat them so I ordered a coffee with a piece of cheese cake. Omg the cheesecake was horrible. It was as hard as a rock, I literally banged it against the plate and it didn't break lmao! It was disgusting, not going back ever!

Everyone should try this restaurant once in a while!

I used to love the Taco's,Torta's, and Burrito's here, until recently about 1.5 years ago they've been really SKIMPING the steak on their portions!! It's no wonder the place is ALWAYS empty when I go there. The prices are high, considering the itty bitty miserable portions they serve you. I ordered a Torta last week, and it was as flat as a panini with barely any meat! Same with the steak tacos, they only had one tortilla and the meat portion was ridiculous! Back in the day, they used to be good. I gave it a shot a few more times, and every time I go the portions just keep shrinking! Sadly, I will never be coming back. The owners have obviously lost out on a lot of customers, for skimping tremendously on their portions. Now, it seems like they've been compensating on the loss, by skimping on food portions, which is only making cliental not want to come back! Once upon a time, the food was really good here. Unfortunately, the tiny portions aren't even worth spending your money. One could go else where, for the same price and get twice the size Torta's or Tacos. Oh yes, how can I forget they sell these really amazing heart shapes powdered sugar cookies! They are so good, BUT EXPENSIVE $1 for a tiny little cookie you can get at any Mexican bakery for 35 cents. Seriously, this place is ridiculous. I'm not a cheap person, but there's a good reason why people stopped coming here. P.S. There's this little hole in the wall Taco joint across the street on 35th and Austin, it's called Guadalajara (I Think), and the food is really good. They give you a bang for your buck! The restaurant is inside a former Shell gas station to be specific. You can't miss it. Twice the portion, better taste, for the same price as Alamo's.

Wow, I don't understand how this place is open. We ordered two beef tacos, four chicken tacos, and an order of guaucamole and chips. The quacamole was inoffensive, but also tasteless. The tacos were so greasy and tasteless that we threw more than half of our food in the trash. I don't know if they were just having a bad day, but I sure won't go back there!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
