An awesome tapas place in RP!? LOVE IT! This place is brand-spanking new - only open a few days - but it has already impressed me. I like tapas... I mean I REALLY like tapas... and their menu does not disappoint. We had the spicy shrimp, a beef and corncake concoction, chicken kabob, tilapia, bacon wrapped dates and spicy potatoes. All of them were absolutely AH-mazing. We also tried both their red and white sangria and, hands down, it is some of the best I've ever had. This is a great addition to Rogers Park! Welcome! I'm definitely going to be a regular.

I went to this place only once. The food was delicious and service was prompt. I just wish they waited to bring the next dish when you are done with the first one so the food didn't get cold.

I cant actually rate the food, because I was turned away at the door. My boyfriend and I live a ten minute walk from this place, and tonight we were looking to try something new. We were dressed pretty casual jeans and coats because it was chilly outside. I don't know if there is a dress code, but as soon as we walked in we received a dirty look from the hostess. I said hello and without even a greeting she said reservation? I said no we didn't make any reservations. She told us there weren't going to be any open tables until around 9 30 an hour and a half from the time we showed up. However I could see eight open tables before even walking in and several open tables behind her. This is rogers park not lincoln park I highly doubt all of those tables were going to be filled up and then vacant within the next hour and a half. She wasn't even polite or apologetic about any of this. I left feeling really insulted. I felt that we were judged because of our casual attire. Unfortunately for them we will not be back ever again, and thats too bad. We were hoping to find a delicious restaurant in our neighborhood to bring our friends. Also they had a really snarky sign outside saying "todays special buy two tapas pay for both." Is that even necessary? I guess we will have to find a less pretentious establishment to eat at, and this is Chicago there are plenty of other dining options.

I have now been here two times and I think that this is a great addition to the Rogers Park neighborhood! Great food and drink! I think the service could be a bit better. As a chef and past server and restaurant manager it is hard to find a restaurant that I can go to where I am actually happy, but in my opinion they are on the right path to success. More than the past two restaurants that didn't even last 6 months. I will definitely be back. FYI-friend on Facebook for news and specials.

I wish they opened earlier. That is pretty much my only complaint. I would like to go here more often. I used to go here when it was Aqua, it has Improved immensley. Food is good. Drink selection could be improved. Space is beautiful. Staff is pleasant. They aren't doing anything revolutinary, but they do what they do perfectly. Some drink specials and daytime hours would be nice for beach traffic. Better beer selection would be nice. Otherwise, pretty great.

Excellent small plates restaurant. I went here with my parents and boyfriend for a birthday celebration. We were all very impressed by the meal and service. Our meal, split between four people, was six different plates: the baked goat cheese, pork medallions, lemon asparagus, baked mac and cheese, roasted Brussels sprouts and chicken meatballs. Being a vegetarian, I did not get to try all the dishes, but the rest of the table said the food was fabulous. I tend to like very seasoned food and I found everything very much to my taste. The service was also top notch. Our server, Jill, was very personable and warm. Our water glasses never went below a quarter full and the table always had warm bread. This is a tough location, but the food is so worth it! I really hope this place is able to stay in my neighborhood.

We tried to make a reservation but didn't really find a website to do that through. When we first walked in, we were told there was only bar seating and a 30 min wait for a table, even though there were several empty ones. Putting two and two together that they were for reservations, we asked and were informed that they only take them by phone, which seems a little odd in 2014. I guess we will try to remember that, but think a website with Opentable option would be easier for many patrons to look into/take interest in this place. Luckily, the bartender/server at the bar seating area was pretty friendly and attentive but having never been there before, and in such a pretty space, it was disappointing to be facing the wall. As far as the food, we tried many things. My most favorite was the braised beef with corn cake, then the crab cakes and stuffed mushrooms. My fiancé liked the octopus. My least favorite may have been the ahi tuna which was nothing special or the watermelon salad bcs whatever makes the dressing spicy was too much. I'm a bit of a lightweight with anything hotter than a jalapeño, but this was at the top of my comfort zone, had me almost coughing. Too concentrated. I don't think that level of spice is really necessary with that dish or needs to be balanced out more with something else to dilute a little. We had the tiramisu for dessert and thought it was very tasty too. The gentleman who brought out each dish was nice too, spoke very enthusiastically as he put each one down , which we liked. We live close by and will probably make another trip sometime, hopefully when we can sit at a table/make a reservation.

I usually don't like tapas but this place was great! The jalapeno gnocchi was my favorite.

Love it. Pros: really good food, really good portions, really good prices. Cons: noise level - high! Even when empty the tall ceilings prevent normal communication. And if you get there early and the staff are hanging around...they are LOUD. I'd love it if they put some tiles on the ceiling. But the noise might keep us from bringing older diners. Other than that...food and wine and location and ambiance is great!

Really great place. Fish tacos and the tenderloin dishes are very tasty - the tenderloin with potatoes and turnips is a meal in itself. Fish tacos have a nice little kick with salsa served on the side. Fish is light and fresh. Jalapeño gnocchi is really tasty as well. I could go on about the beet salad and really fresh cucumber/tomato salad. They recently introduced a salmon dish which is also very good - almost cannot go wrong with anything on menu. And save room for dessert - the banana dessert is perfect way to end the feast! Service is fun and brisk which adds to the experience.

Went in for an early dinner and just sat up at the bar. Bartender was friendly and service was pretty good. Enjoyed beet and goat cheese salad and jalepeno gnocchi was outstanding. Braised beef over corncake was mediocre and corn cake had odd texture. Overall a good experience I will return

I'm beyond glad to have a tapas restaurant in Rogers Park. That being said, the food is just ok. There is no "WOW" factor. I've been twice and both times it was just, eh...The presentation of the food is not good at all. I hate to say it but, that does count. I'll most likely go back but, truly hoping things get a bit more sassy upon my return. :) I'm hoping it's the, "getting used to a new neighborhood," thing?

We went there again and it was perfect. The food was excellent, the drinks were perfect and the service was terrific (thanks Jill!). Tried a few new dishes, the beef tenderloin was tender and delicious, the scallops were tasty and perfectly cooked. Even the Spinach salad was inspired. Great place.

The food, drinks, service and price at Twisted Tapas were excellent! We went on a Saturday night and I was happy to see that the place was full. It was just two of us, so we sat at the bar to avoid a short wait. We enjoyed the Brussels sprouts, ahi, octopus, caprese salad and the egg nog martini! The only small let down was a bit too much dressing on the beet salad. I normally don't care much for dressing and forgot to ask for it on the side, my bad really. But I will definitely be back often and can't wait to bring more friends there. The bartender and manager were an absolute delight! It's great to see this wonderful space become the perfect addition to the neighborhood.

Came in on a Saturday night for a date night with my wife, left very happy! The dishes we ordered were pretty tasty, but in the end nothing mind blowing (although there are a ton of dishes I still have yet to try). Our server was very friendly and helpful. Atmosphere was a bit ruined by a crying baby the majority of the night, but that's out of their control... I'll definitely be back, and I'll definitely recommend this place to others.

A welcome addition to Rogers Park! Service was prompt, polite, and helpful with recommendations. The bacon-wrapped dates were very good, although I can't say that there's a whole lot of room for error in that particular dish. The spicy seared shrimp were excellent, and the sauce they came in was perfect for dipping the bread. The paella was very tasty and avoided the common pitfalls of that dish (blandness and excessive mushiness). The twisted Mac n' cheese was outstanding, if a bit on the salty side. The creme brûlée was firm, but light, without excessive sweetness. All-in-all, it was a very pleasant experience. The dishes that I had we're simple, but tasty and well-prepared. One of the best parts was being able to take a pleasant stroll along the adjacent beach after the meal. We will be coming back. Edit: It would be a little cliche to describe the chocolate pie as "heavenly," but seriously, I'm about 99% sure that it can cure lepers.

Went here with a friend and tried the mac and cheese, it was pretty good. Charlie, our waiter was pretty nice too. He should be on the menu, as all the items on the menu looked really good. Overall, pretty good tapas. Will come back and try more.

I'm sure this place will overcome its growing pains. The food is fantastic. We loved it. What we didn't like was getting stuffed into a corner and then having our otherwise competent waitress disappear once we were finished. I'm serious - we were done for 10 minutes and could NOT wave her down. Once we sent a busboy after her, it was another 10 minutes before we were able to leave due to the sloth of the credit card processing. I know we'll be back. This is one of the few upscale restaurants within walking distance of our home and, as I stated above, the food is quite good. In the future, we'll request a table near the window where they seem to space the tables apart a bit more. What is it with servers who disappear at the end of a meal? The point--if my experience as a waiter is consistent with others--is to turn the table over as quickly as possible.

I am neighbors with this tapas joint, so I really want it to succeed and I have been enthusiastic to see it busy on both weekdays and weekends. I've been 5 times, and 3 of those 5 times I have been turned away from their door step due to "closing early". The only reason I was given all three times was because it was "to slow" . Granted once I came in 30 min before close but on these other occasions, they were an hour and 45 min respectively . As a person who spent over a decade in the food industry I can appreciate closing early to minimize overhead, but three times is more than poor timing. 30 min. Before close is not an unacceptable amount of time to seat a table when your sign says you are open till 9:30. In fact when I worked in food service, 5 min before close we would seat a table. "To slow"? Isn't that what my business is here to remedy. As if to add salt to the wound the waitress in no way seemed apologetic to the idea of turning business away. She might as well have told us to "get the f*^# out" for how hospitable she was. I remember when they opened their doors they were doing everything and anything to win and keep neighborhood business. I suppose their recent streak of solid business has changed their tune considerably. The food is good here but not impeccable, and the service has clearly slipped all the way back into the stone age of the former "aqua" (it's predecessor). I will most certainly not be recommending twisted tapas to my friends and neighbors , nor to any of my frequent theatre going friends from the glenwood arts district. I will be recommending them to a place that I can be confident will serve food when they allege to , and to a place that will be courteous, and grateful for their business, like uncommon ground. There we found all of the above and an amazing dining experience along with a far superior dessert offering. I will most certainly be sharing my chagrin with my neighbors. Indeed, a restaurant willing to repeatedly turn away hungry patrons willing to give them their business is not any restaurant that has any interest in staying open for long.

4 stars because I think this place is hit or miss on the menu. We got 5 dishes and I'd say 2 were excellent, one was good, 2 were poor. There are so many options that I think if you came here 3 times and got something next each time you'd be able to get the perfect dinner the 4th time. I'm in the neighborhood so I'll probably do that. Ravioli, Mac & Cheese, & Brussel Sprouts were good choices. Braised Beef, nooooottt so great. Seafood could have been fresher on the Paella, but the rest of the dish was flavorful.

I came with a party of 5 last weekend, no waiting got a seat right away! Beautiful decor, nice atmosphere and tip top service! The food was excellent, we had to have gotten about 15+ items I can't remember them all, however everything was good! The few things I do remember was this Wagyu Beef with sweet potato something or other OMG to DIE FOR!!! Second was the Mack and Cheese (I know not what you would expect from Tapas) BUT SO GOOD the waitress referred to it as "crack mack" because you just want MORE! We then had dessert it was a frozen chocolate cream pie with some sort of reduction served with bananas! Again to DIE FOR! We also had Sangria It wasn't bad nor good just ehh... Next time for $25.00 i'll stick to cocktails. Great new addition to Rogers Park! Although they have been in business for quite sometime they just moved to RP.Will definitely be coming back and would recommend this place to friends and others.

This place is so great! My husband and I love the food and the staff is very well informed about the menu. The only reason I didn't give this gem 5 stars is the echo problem. I am not complaining about it being noisy. I am referring to the fact that the room has a bit of an echo to it and you can easily hear other guests' conversations at times. I assume everyone else can hear my husband and I as well. Not sure if there is much to do about this. The echo thing is not a deal breaker though. I just wouldn't dine here if I was hoping to discuss a personal matter with someone. The mac and cheese is amazing. So are the bacon wrapped dates.

Visited Twisted Tapas last night. Had an amazing meal starting with the sangria and ending with the caramelized bananas. Had dates, eggplant, crab cakes, jalapeño gnocchi, and chicken meatballs. Every bite was better than the first. Great service, great food and great atmosphere. Will definitely return!

Great little dishes. Had the short ribs and the bacon dates. Really good. Also, Jill the head server was very helpful and friendly. If you go during the evening, be sure to make a reservation as it can get crowded sometimes. I was there early and got shown to a table by the open window and loved the atmosphere. Be sure to check it out!

I'm very happy this tapas restaurant has appeared in our neighborhood. We went on a Saturday night and the food was amazing. It was a great atmosphere for talking and nice looking inside as well. The lighting was cosy and inviting. Every dish we had was delicious. The bacon wrapped dates were a highlight, as were the beef tenderloin, the crab cakes and the Jalapeño Gnocchi (amazing!!!). Our only negative would be to recommend a bit more ginger beer and mulled lime flavors in the Moscow Mules we had. We're really looking forward to another visit to try additional tapas plates! Great job to the owners and staff!

Really no understanding as to why the reviews are so high I'd rather take the trip downtown to a good tapas place before I would revisit twisted tapas againThe service was sub par we waited at the door to be seated and the waitress came and sat us then let us sit at the table for another 20 minutes before taking our drink orders however we did receive 2 dirty glasses filled with ice less water. After getting our drink order and first two rounds of tapas we didn't see her again until the next round and then we waited for another 15 minutes for her to return. When we asked for the check that took another 10 minutes she took our payment ran it then continued to place flowers on tables, collect menus THEN check her phone before dropping it back off to us. I am both a server and a cook and this experience was not one I would want again. The food was alright we had two good dishes and two bad dishes the sea scallops and spinach were delicious and cooked wonderfully as well as the short rib. Second round was just an utter disappointment the baby octopus was incredibly over cooked and was luke warm at best. The spicy shrimp were clearly at one point frozen and had been sitting in the freezer for a few months with the lovely taste of ammonia.

My wife and I made our first visit to Twisted Tapas during Chicago's persistently awful winter, and we were thoroughly pleased. I will post a more complete review after a couple more visits, but given (1) the pressing need for a top-notch sit-down restaurant with full bar in Rogers Park and (2) the negative impact on dining out during this winter that won't quit and (3) the initial indication that Twisted Tapas could be a destination restaurant throughout the area, I want to post something very positive. Nice variety of tapas, fair prices, personable service, welcoming decor. We'll be back soon.

Excellent service and reasonable prices. We had the bacon wrapped dates, followed by a light salad for appetizer. For the main course, we ordered their chicken special which was moist and flavorful. All in all, the dishes were true to their spanish heritage and the best part is that they are kid friendly and I highly recommend their macaroni and cheese

For those who joke about going to Twisted Tapas and never end up going. Please reconsider because it is a fun, friendly, and warm experience. The server was excellent and very knowledgable. We stopped in for dessert and the chocolate pie was a harmony fit for the taste buds. The sweet banana sauce paired with the silky chocolate pie could possibly be a match made in heaven by the twisted gods of tapas.

This place has great tapas - the best I've had in a long time in Chicago. I highly recommend the bacon-wrapped dates, goat cheese and garlic bread and beef skewers. They take reservations and were accommodating when I had to move back my reservation a half hour. When we arrived, we were promptly seated. The food came out pretty quickly and the waitstaff was great. Trendy and bustling atmosphere, but parking wasn't the easiest since it's street parking. But all in all I would recommend to anyone wanting some tasty tapas!

Tonight was the first time that I ventured to Rogers Park to finally check out Twisted. I am wondering what took me so long... The atmosphere was fantastic. You can tell the owners put a lot of thought and effort into the details. Our servers name was Jill. She was amazing. We weren't sure what to order and were a little bit overwhelmed by the choices. She asked about our food preferences and said, "How about I just send a few things out." We agreed. Smart move on our part. The empanada was fantastic, the mac n cheese was awesome, bacon wrapped figs, Wagyu beef, all superb. There was literally nothing left on our plates. Absolutely no room for dessert. :( We will definitely be back soon, and if you haven't tried this place yet, you are missing out. This is definitely a hidden gem up in Rogers Park. Definitely ask for Jill. She knows her stuff and obviously takes great pride in introducing you to food you may not have tried before. Definitely 5 stars!

Start with the decore and ambience: With its high ceilings, abundant windows and vintage charm, the space has always looked good. With new ceramics aligning the walls - along with interesting artwork - the space looks better than ever. Especially the ceramic! The service. We enjoyed a fun, personable server who gave us great recommendations, and, with her humor, added to our fun. The food: interesting, delicious and eclectic. The variety of options will keep me coming back. The bar: a beautiful bar, and an offering of great drinks. I am not an avid drinker - but the cocktail I had (off of the "recommended list" - a "Light and Tan?") was so good, I had to have another ... and maybe another as well.... I don't remember! The owner: Bob Parillo clearly knows what he is doing, and his pride of ownership enhances the customer's experience. This place is worth visiting - a clear destination location. (Be sure to laugh at the waitress' jokes.)

My husband and I live down the road (like right down the road) from here, and we were thrilled when we found out that we had a tapas place so close by. We have been there a few times now, and I absolutely love their bacon-wrapped dates. We order quite a few plates (too many most of the time), and almost always end up loving what is served. My husband loves the lobster ravioli, and my go to is the mac and cheese. I will say that I ordered one dish that I wasn't fond of (an eggplant dish), and when Jill (fabulous woman!!) asked if I wanted it boxed as there was the entire plate left, I said no. She immediately figured out that I didn't enjoy it and had it removed from our tab. Our waitress was fantastic though (don't remember her name) so we made sure to tip her on the original amount of the bill. :) Great place, highly recommend. We always check out the various social media prior to going, and every time, we have found a coupon for a free plate being advertised.

We live in the neighborhood and our friends told us we had to try this place out, so we all went last night. Excellent service, wonderful food, and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. This last bit was particularly welcome with the brutally cold weather we've been having. When we asked the waitress for her favorites, she clearly gave us her true recommendations, not the standard "oh it's all good." We had the spare ribs, the warm goat cheese, bacon wrapped dates, brussels sprout, mac and cheese and jalapeño gnocchi. The gnocchi was my favorite. I am not a fan of "fancy" mac and cheese because in my opinion restaurants usually muck up a simple dish. But here, the mac and cheese was sooo tasty! We split a mind-blowing tiramisu for dessert. Parking has the potential be a challenge, but they are just a few blocks up from the Loyola Red Line stop.

This is the only place I will order vegetables! Haven't eaten here since last winter. Went last night and it's still some of the best small plate food I've had anywhere. The sangria is also excellent.

This place is a great find - it's local, it has a decent wine list, and I love sharing small plates - gives us a great chance to try a bunch of things. The service was excellent, and it had a nice atmosphere. I think it's a wonderful addition to the local restaurant options in Rogers Park!

Rogers Park has a new restaurant and I'm glad it's finally open. Great tapas-had the sesame encrusted tuna, wagyu beef, and spicy potatoes to name a few. Dessert menu was short but sweet, the chocolate pie infused with Ruchata bananas was Delicious. Excellent service.

I live in the neighborhood and have been disappointed by every restaurant in this space since Cafe Saron closed. Twisted Tapas has changed that! It was packed the evening we went - which made me very happy to see. Between the four of us we ordered at least 12 plates for the table. Every dish except one was wonderful! The ahi tuna was only fair - seared a bit too much. Great drink selection (loved the Moscow mule) and the service was good, too. We are returning again this week with an out-of-town friend. Welcome to the neighborhood, Twisted Tapas!

I live a few blocks from this restaurant, and we've been there a several times. We LOVE that they have moved to Rogers Park. The service and the food are outstanding. Tonight we stopped in on our way home from the park by the lake, and our server brought out a bunch of match box cars to entertain our 3 year old. We got the Octopus, and we could have ordered it twice. It's got great texture and flavor with just a little char from the grill. The Sangria was perfect =). We love that we can have a nice meal as a family of a crazy toddler, feel really welcome, but the food is delicious.

Had great service at this new RP spot, and some excellent tapas. Several posts below mention the bacon wrapped dates, and while you can't go wrong with this dish really, I agree they were excellent with the fine, if sweet, sauce they drizzle on them. The salad was great too, with two kinds of beets. And the dessert is worth saving room and calories for: we had the caramelized banana. We also appreciated that you could bring kids, their kids menu helps with picky eaters and we figure you can also have young ones try some of the other stuff since you'll have several different plates. One of the best things was the very mixed, very Rogers Park crowd. There were business women eating alone, mixed couples, families, tables of men, folks at the bar, and many different origins and ages represented. It seems that nearly anyone would feel welcome. When it's summer again and they open all the windows and the lake breeze comes in, it will be tremendous.

Started off slow. No waiter or drinks for 10 minutes. They were slammed at 8 on a Friday. When service began, really strong gin drinks and 4 very yummy tapas plates. After the initial lull, the waiter was Johnny on the spot. Great overall meal (beet salad, jalapeno gnocchi, wagyu short ribs, brussels) at a good price. The biggest thing they can fix is the horrendous store-bought bread.

  • Peter G.

Solid date night restaurant. The menu has something for everyone, and the food is hearty and filling for a small plate place. I had jalapeño gnocchi and black bean sliders--companion had Mac and cheese and beef skewers, we split a dessert. Inventive cocktails, attentive but not overbearing service. Not cheap, but definitely priced well for a night out. My only complaint is that the flavors were if anything too bold for our tastes and a bit too rich, but that certainly beats bland and unsatisfying. I went early on a weeknight and the noise level wasn't bad, but conversations do travel. We'll be back!

Loved this place in Lakeview. So glad they reopened. Great tapas and drinks. You have to try the spicy seared shrimp. The red pepper flake oil it is in is to die for. So hot but really good especially to dip your bread in. Good service and nice atmosphere.

The food is absolutely fantastic! This is my second time here and my taste buds are dancing! Service is great - very friendly and appropriately attentive. Nice and casual atmosphere. I have a goal of eating here every 5 weeks at min. Gotta do my part to keep this gem here. The stuffed mushrooms and spicy potatoes with spicy aioli - MAN! I'm a foodie - for those not this neighborhood - twisted tapas is worth going out of your way for. Come on up - and be prepared to make your way back. This place is amazing - and good prices to boot!

A Welcome addition to the neighborhood! And a delightful meal here early on a Saturday, the first Saturday they were open. The cold tapas, we had salads, were quite good with a distinct difference between the spinach salad and cucumber salad especially when it came to the textures of the cheese and the various vinaigrettes. A plate of olives lacked variety but the small Spanish olives were quite delightful and helped in several courses acting as a bridge. The bread accompanying the olives lacks texture and is a bit bland for its mission of helping provide the continuity between disparate dishes, but has a good tooth and was better than many. Succeeding courses included bacon wrapped dates of which they are justly proud, broiled sea scallops-quite nice, a very decent ahi tuna dish, surprising in such a neighborhood location. And perhaps the best of the evening, mini-crab-cakes. They had quite a spicy kick white quite flavorful and overloaded with an abundance of crab taste. Honestly, I did not even notice the batter, which can so often overpower this dish, except as an enabler of butter and warmth. The house sangria is an acquired taste, if you like your sangria sweet and syrupy it would probably be delightful, as for me I prefer a dryer mix with the natural fruit supplying the sweetness but still, not bad at all, and I would drink it gladly on a very hot day. Servers were still learning their paces and the menu but were quite dedicated and friendly-no attitude whatsoever and delightful to work with. A very surprising lack of a decent Sherry or indeed any Sherry at all, along with any other digestives , a disappointment as an excellent flan cried out for a decent accompaniment. But these are minor slights against the major fact that a wonderful space, long looking for the right management and identity may have taken its first, strong steps towards that goal. Compliments to the new owner and staff and a great hope that they continue forward from this promising start.

Absolutely fabulous place, great atmosphere, and wonderfully hospitable staff. The food selection was phenomenal. Being tapas, it's a great place to enjoy with a group of guests. The only very slight bummer is the parking situation - you'll be parking on Sheridan Road most likely if you're not within walking distance. But it's a small price to pay for a great, great experience.

I moved to Rogers Park when there were no cafes, no dining except McDonald's, no shops except Budget Gourmet, a barely stocked convenience store that stood where Chipotle now is. It took a while but now we have businesses in the neighborhood, and we have Twisted Tapas. The food is excellent, the tapas portions are larger than anywhere else, the red wine selection is wonderful, and the room is decent. I'd like to see the music turned down a bit to make it conversation friendly, and I hope they'll add new items to the menu for repeat customers like me. Wonderful restaurant, go eat there so it can stay in Rogers Park.

I can only echo was everyone else is saying. This has been the site of numerous failed restaurants. But Twisted Tapas is excellent! Went Saturday night about 6:30 and was still packed when I left about 9. Every dish was terrific! Jalapeno Gnocchi, Spicey Shrimp, Pork Tenderloin, Beet Salad, Salmon special, Spanish Omelette. Oh to pick one favorite! Highly recommend!!

As a former Chicago resident, I just about had a heart attack when I heard that Twist on Sheffield was closing this fall. Then come to learn of the move to Rogers Park (thank goodness) and couldn't have been happier with the fact that my favorite delicasies were still on the menu and saw so many new options! The jalepeno gnocchi has always been a favorite in my book - it's so soft and spongy and they just melt in your mouth. Some of the new adds to the menu were delish eg., the Chicken meatballs and a few others. Next time I will have to come with a larger group so there's more options to share - it was just two of us and we couldn't decide! Thank goodness for togo boxes!! I'm only in Chicago for a short time but knew on this trip I had to come more than once. :)

Awesome. Jalapeño gnocchi, buffalo sausage and garlic shrimp were my favorite.

I was visiting friends in Chicago, and taken here for dinner...I've never had a better time eating!! The staff was amazing, and the food so well prepared I was left speechless!! I can't wait to visit again so I can try everything still left on the menu!!

Yeah! A great addition to the neighborhood. The service at Twisted Tapas was great, and the food and wine was delicious.

This place just opened up and is perfect for Rogers Park. Decent price with great food. Bacon wrapped dates are a must try! Give this place a chance!

So happy to have this addition to our neighborhood. Hands down the finest food to come out of that kitchen in many years. Staff is friendly and attentive without being cloying. We've been twice this week and enjoyed hot and cold tapas, beef, chicken, crab, salads, pasta, Potatoes au gratin, Short ribs all excellent with attention to details like the delicious reduction that surrounds the short rib or the escargot on crostini hidden beneath a Tia Maria pillow. Unexpected and perfectly prepared. One problem lingers from pervious incarnations in this space: the NOISE. You will be hard pressed to find a sound absorbent surface. Tile, wood and glass are the three featured materials. Conversations, (especially one dominated by an inebriated, VERY loud woman with an "interesting" laugh) are shared with ALL fellow diners and trying to speak "sotto voce" results in repetition or mis-communication with your table mates. There IS a side room which is far more conversationally friendly. We see few of our neighbors during the long Chicago winter. Hope is, we'll see them far more frequently at this gem of a restaurant.

Overall, the food was good; we tried about 6 different plates. Nothing really stood out to me as "amazing". The staff was pretty busy so my fiancé and I sat at the bar. Although it was tasty, I was hungry after about an hour. Twisted Tapas is certainly worth a try and is unique respite from the typical burger and gyros places that are sprinkled through Rogers Park. Give it a try and decide for yourself if it's something you wanna frequent.

One of my fav places in Chicago. I was here two times in the last 2 weeks :) Thats sums up how much I like this place . Everything I tasted here was 10/10 . We tried Fish, gnocchi ,chicken skewers and crab cakes ..actually a lot on the menu except the red meat .Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted awesome. Each dish has it own unique flavor.Place was very causal to drop by anytime and even romantic for a date night . Service is really good and food comes by very fast . We were not impressed by the desserts but with all such good food, we can easily pass the dessert . we tried the red and pink sangria and both tasted really good. A must try place for all Chicago Tapas lover !

A new(ish) tapas restaurantin Rogers Park! Here's what we got: Baked goat cheese ($7.50) in tomato sauce served with 5 garlic herb toast points. Verdict: Would not order again for 2 people. This is a better dish for when you have at least 4 people to share! Tasted alright, not the best I've had. Bacon wrapped dates ($7.75) 6 in a roasted pepper sauce Verdict: The dates themselves were delicious, but the presentation was lacking. It looked like they were just thrown quickly into a dish haphazardly, and they got the sauce all over the toothpicks. Mini crabcakes ($8.50) served with dijon mustard sauce Verdict: Delicious!!!! They are truly "mini"- one per person, and it comes with 2, so order accordingly. Braised beef and corn cake ($9.75) with tomatoes, queso fresco and chipotle mayo all atop a corn cake Verdict: Pretty good. The beef was really dry, but the portion was generous. The corn cake was really good on its own. Caramelized banana ($5.95) with tequila caramel, vanilla ice cream and walnuts Verdict: Pretty standard dessert. Can definitely taste the tequila. Ice cream was really quite good- better than the banana. Street parking is available but can be difficult to find- try different side streets away from the lake! Service was excellent- our waitress was kind and friendly. One small note-- as an avid yelper, I didn't really appreciate their large chalkboard making fun of a yelper who didn't like their sangria. Seemed petty to me.

Helped friends move into the neighborhood, so they obliged by inviting me here for dinner. They also allowed me to run with the ordering. Per TT's Instagram feed, I went down the line ordering those I thought would be the most flavorful and a few more which sounded interesting. There were five of us for a late dinner. Our menu: Bacon wrapped dates Paella Baked goat cheese Jalapeno gnocchi Lobster ravioli (My buddy ordered a) Lamb tenderloin that was served with assorted vegetables tossed in a balsamic sauce. Dessert: Bacon wrapped dates Tiramisu With every plate ordered, my mouth experienced orgasms from flavor explosions created within every dish. The one word which described each plate; superb. The dates were covered with a tasty, beef gravy but the portions were kinda tiny. The gravy is what tied the flavors together. (It was so good, we needed another!) The paella was on the spot. The seafood within it, was uber fresh and complimented well. The goat cheese was accompanied by buttery garlic strips of bread. Once that was finished off, the sliced house bread came in handy. (If they offered additional garlic bread for a cost, I would definitely buy more. How about for an extra $2 bucks?) I could go down the list, but I'll stop here. With each dish, we shared an overwhelming feeling of.. Damn, this is pretty f%$King good! That's huge right? Through dinner and drinks, I kept thinking.. "man, this would be a great spot for a date." Now to find a hot date...

had a dinner here for 10 in the private room--did a great job--this really is a nice neighborhood spot--very good food and a real kichen--I don't really understand the whole discussion about the Yelp Sangria--that drink sucks anywhere on Earth--T2's is better than most!--One pissy comment--I do not like bread sliced into the super thin pieces (i saw that they had a bakery bread slicer)--I think you should serve it in larger chunks Place is very good and recomended

I was really excited to find a tapas place in east Roger's Park. I love this neighborhood but the one thing it lacks are good and diverse restaurants. Seeing as I love tapas, I was excited to try this place! Overall, they have really solid food! The typical dishes you find at tapas places were all delicious here: tomato with goat cheese, bacon wrapped dates, paella, grilled beef skewer. A couple dishes I was surprised at were the scallop and shrimp with gorgonzola sauce - the sauce was so good I was wiping the plate clean with bread! The escargot dish was also very tasty though much of the flavor of the escargot was overpowered by the cream sauce that was over it - not that it wasn't good. One dish I wasn't a fan of was the grilled tilapia with wild rice but that might have just been me and my preference to not have beans and crunchy textures in my rice. Will definitely be back to try more dishes!

Maybe I only like this place because I've never been to Spain, nor had tapas before. But I have been to Rogers Park and this place is great. Got caprese salad, Mac and cheese, and spicy potatoes. I wouldn't get the mac again, it wasn't bad but there were a few other things on the menu id like to try that are more unique. Sick potatoes are a must with the cumin and paprika...yummm! I'll be back for sure to try the sangria and jalapeño gnocchi.

The white sangria was watered down, the made us use the same plates for different tapas, the bacon wrapped dates was burnt, on and on. If you like Emberco or Cafe baba Reba do not go here.

We walked in but the place looks like a mess hall ...server was not that friendly ... Claimed all reserved and we have to wait for 30 minutes .. We were not even allowed to sit in the bar .. She claimed its all reserved too .. We can't wait 30 Minutes .. The entrance is goofy dark and nasty ... Not even a chair to sit down ... A total downer ... Even there Tapas may taste good ... But will not come back again to this place !!!!

I had a great experience today the service was great and they accommodated us the craft cocktails are awesome. I had not your mamas colada and also tried the bourbon fizz. Not usually a bourbon fizz guy but this one was great. Not too sweet. The lobster ravioli and bacon wrapped dates didn't last at our tingle and tiramisu was OFF THE HOOK. The lamb cooked medium rare was perfectly cooked. Words can't describe how the food made me feel. Not sure why they call it twisted.

Twisted Tapas is an awesome intimate Americanized tapas restaurant out in Loyola perfect for any romantic night out. With daily specials always available and a large menu of probably over 50 small dishes, there's always enough variety to try something new every time you visit. And believe me - when they execute the dishes, 9 out of 10 times the flavors will just be fantastic. When I went out with a friend some weeks back, we tried five dishes: roasted brussels sprouts with bacon and a tart cherry-balsamic sauce, wagyu beef short rib with sweet potato gratin, charred octopus with a corn succotash, chicken and chorizo croquettes with avocado aioli, and a malted caramelized white chocolate mousse with a housemade sour cherry sauce. Needless to say, everything had amazing intensity of flavor. When the menu mentioned the ingredients in each of these dishes, every single time each ingredient shone through like a warm sun on a cold winter day. It was so refreshing to actually be able to taste everything they advertised - something you don't tend to come by regularly when eating out. And the price was fantastic too! At the end of the night I think it came to roughly $55, and both my friend and I were full to the brim from the deliciousness that was presented before us. If i were to comment on any flaws, it's perhaps that the cooking of everything wasn't perfect. The short rib wasn't braised for long enough, half of the octopus was perfectly cooked while the other half was overcooked, the chicken-chorizo croquettes were all one-texture inside (soft), and the white chocolate mousse had far too much gelatin for my tastes. That said though, all of these are just teeny-tiny nitpicks of the dishes. What matters to me far more than any of that every time is the flavor, which they all had mountains of. Honestly if they can just tighten up their cookery a little bit, this place would easily be a 5/5 star restaurant for me. Definitely a restaurant to remember, and definitely one I'll be back to the next time I'm out this way. Even if their cookery isn't spot on, I bet it won't take long for them to reach that apex of awesomeness looming off in a very close horizon!

This place made me forget I was in Chicago and took me back to Europe! The food was delicious, the drinks and cocktails are wonderful, and our server, Jose, gave us a 5 star experience. Because of this gentleman, I will become a regular here. The atmosphere/environment is calm and inviting with the windows wide open. Did I also mention it's down the street from the lake? Many thanks to the people in kitchen who satisfied our stomachs and thanks again to Jose for a wonderful dining experience!! Recommended: bacon wrapped dates , the cucumber salad, the caprese salad, the potato salad and the imperial wagyu short rib.. All excellente!!

Went her recently and it is a hidden gem in Rogers Park. Great décor, large menu and pleasant staff. I went on a weeknight which was not crowded at all. It makes a great place for a date. It also has a kids tapa's menu, which is rare. We had the octopus, shrimp and scallops and baked goat cheese, all were great. In addition, a pitcher of red sangria which was tasty and reasonable ($25) but did not have much alcohol in it at all. Better to get something else to drink if you want something alcoholic. The location is on Pratt just east of Sheridan so a really nice walk one block walk to the beach. Not a destination place but a great choice in Rogers Park if you are there. Very reasonable prices.

We keep on meaning to try this place and today we finally stepped in - we should have come here far earlier. It's fantastic! Sometimes with tapas restaurants you order a normal amount of dishes and the bill is crazy expensive. Here, we ordered a normal amount of dishes (I believe eight, no alcohol drinks, no dessert) and the bill came to $58. We were impressed! Plus, the dishes were a good size, just right for sharing between the two of us and we were stuffed to the gills, and brought some home for lunch tomorrow. The seasonal special, the watermelon salad with feta, tomatoes, and almonds, is to die for. Get it! Go now and get it. You won't be sorry. My husband loved the spicy potato wedges, and we both loved the deviled egg assortment (five egg halves). The only sort-of miss was a chicken-and-chorizo croquette, which we thought would be more of a taste sensation, but which was actually a bland fried meat, well, croquette. We ate them anyway. :) The wait staff was excellent! We'll definitely be back!

I have been to Twisted Tapas twice now & had to write a review about this hidden RP gem! The sangria is GREAT! Both times I went I tried different tapas and have yet to be disappointed. Some of my favs have been: bacon wrapped dates, Spanish omelette, caprese salad and beef skewer. All the tapas are full flavored and even offer a gluten free menu. The staff are friendly and interior is colorful and modern with big windows that open up for an indoor/outdoor feel. Located 1 block from the lake. Can't wait to try the Sunday Brunch sometime on my way to the beach!

I'm not too sure why this place has 4.5/5 stars, honestly... When we walked in, we were greeted by a funny sign that said something like "try our sangrias that one man on yelp said was the worst sangria he's ever had" - will post a photo. I laughed so hard because I'm a server, and yelp reviews get pretty dang funny! So we ordered a pitcher of the white sangria. Honestly, that sangria was pretty bad...Then we ordered a few things: Brussels sprouts & bacon - GOOD LORD. Cooked so perfectly. The Brussels had a nice char to them, just how I like them. The balsamic sauce was sweet yet tangy. Loved. Scallops - came with THREE scallops. Yep. Just three. The creamy sauce was almost TOO creamy and bland. The spinach was super soggy. Not a fan. Grilled octopus - honestly, again not a fan. When octopus tentacles are grilled correctly, they're crunchy yet still chewable in the middle. There was a nice crisp, but it was like chewing leather. However, the cold salad that it came with? Now THAT was good!!! Almost like a ceviche of sorts. Baked goats cheese - super delicious. Goats cheese and tomato sauce and served with garlic bread. Creamy and delicious. Our server was a nice, funny lady, sure. But would I come back? Probably not, honestly. Too pricey for the quality of food that is served.

I don't even know how to describe this place. They have pretty standard fare tapas, but then they also have some completely WTF tapas at the same time. Thus the name, the whole "Twisted" tapas as mentioned. It's not like they aren't selling it to you outright, up front. Service is good, and the food is good overall. However, their drinks? Excellent and not to be missed.I think I was more impressed with the drinks than the food. The Gnocchi tapas sounded like a good idea but it was kinda meh. I don't know. This place just isn't memorable to me. It was fine, but I'm not planning a return trip.

You come here for Jill. Without her, you're just like...why?! It's like your restaurant wants to be forgettable. Tapas are fine. Tasty enough. (It's tapas, after all ) But you come for the experience.

This is a hidden gem. I just moved to Rogers Park and so glad to have this restaurant in the neighborhood. Each dish is better than the last and the sangria is yummy. The service is just excellent. Jill made the dining experience that much better. Notable items were the empanadas, jalapeño gnocchi, bacon wrapped dates (the sauce is incredible), and the salads. Everything is fresh and reasonably priced. I also ordered the Sangria, which was actually pretty good...so whoever commented that it was the worst they ever had is being used to their advantage because it begs you to order it :-) I am looking forward to trying out the new brunch which I also heard is great...the French Toast is apparently a winner.

I've been here a few times now. I'm only taking away 1 star because of parking. I know that's not something the restaurant has any control over. I love the jalapeno gnocchi and the poached pear dessert. I love the decor. I'm sure I'll be back again.

Can I give this place 10 stars? It was my first time in Chicago and this was one of the best restaurants I've ever been to....ever The Jalapeno Gnocchi was to die for, the short rib was delicious, shrimp dishes were cooked perfectly and our waiter was as nice as can be. There needs to be a Twisted Tapas in every major city!!!

  • Kira P.

We are from out of town and love tapas. This is one of our favorites. The bacon wrapped dates have a heavier molasses flavor than I liked but good food, food selection, nice portions, and reasonable prices. Not impressed with the white sangria though. Our table got bacon wrapped dates, tenderloin, shrimp, octopus, escargot, Brussel sprouts, lobster ravioli, and scallops. The Brussel sprouts were our favorites and the shrimp was least. Shrimp was average not bad. I like the atmosphere. Open air windows and cozy interior.

  • Alyssa G.

5 small plates + 2 drinks + leaving still hungry for $67? We won't be back. My boyfriend loved the ahi tuna dish, and the jalapeno gnocchi was tasty in an elevated-dining-hall-food kind of way. The jumbo scallops and beet salad were forgettable. In Spain, going out for tapas is a cheap and filling dinner. Tonight, we left Twisted Tapas with empty wallets and still-hungry bellies. Never again. P.S. Twisted Tapas, please replace the tiny plastic bowls that the ahi tuna sauce is served in. They are way too unstable--one of the servers spilled sauce on my coat as he served us (without even an apology...)

We've been missing this place since the previous Wrigleyville location closed, and couldn't be happier to find out its reopened! Went in last night and had a wonderful dinner; jalapeño gnocchi, beef tenderloin and spicy shrimp. We will be back quite soon!

This place did not dissapoint. Our favorites were the jalapeno gnocchi, short rib, beef tenderloin with blue cheese. Also loved the Moscow mule. Food is well prices. Atmosphere is very nice. Can't wait to come back!

This place is still fantastic. Wonderful food, great for sharing. Favorite nibbles: bacon-wrapped dates, beef tenderloin, beef skewers, japapeño gnocchi. Very interesting specials. Love the jerk pork and the wedge salad. The service is excellent. Bob, Jill, Charles and everyone else do a bang up job. Don't be afraid to come here alone. Sometimes my wife will be off at a work event, and I don't want to cook, so I'll come over and get a salad and a meat tapas, and that's more than enough food. We've used the side party room for groups a couple of times now, and that works out well if you want your own space. Looking forward to having a holiday party there soon.

This restaurant has been a few different places since I have lived in Edgewater and I have wanted to try it given its proximity to the lake. It seemed like a great place to stop in after a day at the beach but there was always something the prevented actually eating a meal there. One time we stopped in and they could serve drinks, but could not use the kitchen for some reason. Again, I think these were all issues when this was a different restaurant. On a recent Friday evening we were strolling in the neighborhood, noticed this place was open and took our chance to check it out. I am very glad we did. I have honestly never had better service at a restaurant in my life. There are a lot of options on the menu and we basically told our server what we like and she made some amazing choices. She was funny and helpful with out being too invasive. While clearing dishes she did drop a plate in my lap, our server felt awful about it and apologized but it was such a great meal I honestly didn't even care. I have been a server and know that accidents happen and a plate in my lap wasn't going to ruin such a great evening. The best part, when they check came they had comped some items to make up for the incident with out us even asking.

Super delicious! We will definitely be going back. There were three of us and we ordered five dishes and it was the perfect amount of food for such a reasonable price. Jalapeño Gnocchi - definitely going to get this again. Really light home-made gnocchi filled with jalapeños and not too spicy. Lobster ravioli - I think this speaks for itself but it was delicious. Twisted Eggplant - I probably wouldn't order this again. I liked the flavors but the eggplant had a slimy texture that I couldn't get over. (We still cleaned our plates though). Bacon Mac and cheese - served with sundried tomatoes it's quite tasty. Bacon wrapped dates - man oh man were these good. I've had bacon wrapped dates quite a few times but these were served with a sweet gravy type sauce and it was truly spectacular. Overall I'll be going back and I'll be bringing friends with me.

Went there this past Saturday night for a celebratory dinner after my small wedding ceremony with family and close friends. We had 13 of us and they were great to make reservations with and their side party room. They were warm when we walked in and were great on suggesting dishes and drinks for the group. They made the night stress free and warm for memories for a life time. A couple of plates I'd suggest ordering would be the Brussel sprouts, gnocchi and watermelon salad. We tried many many more but those were some of the stand outs.

  • Kay R.

Two words: Jalapeño gnocchi! But seriously, everything I tried here was great, from the sangria to the black bean cakes to spicy potatoes. The food at this place provided the perfect combination of traditional Spanish and modern, international flavors. The one slight downside to the place was the service. I was here as part of a large group, seated in their private party room, so my experience with their waitstaff may not be representative, but our server was inattentive, forgetful, and a bit rude. It took quite q while to get any service at all, and when we did order, some of the drinks and tapas that we ordered were forgotten and/or brought out only after long delays.

We ended up dining here on a whim last weekend and had a great dinner. As the name implies, this place does a non-traditional take on Spanish tapas. Tried 5 dishes including dessert and overall everything was quite good. The stand out dish for me was the jalapeno gnocchi. Very creamy and the gnocchi had the perfect pillowy texture without being too spicy. I also enjoyed the green mango salad w/ pistachio and stuffed zucchini in smokey black bean puree although the zucchini was slightly undercooked. Spicy potatoes were my least favorite dish here. The potatoes tasted like standard baked potato wedges and came with a fairly tasty, but scant aioli sauce. Dessert was a creme brulee that turned out to be one of the best I've ever had. The portion size was perfect and the custard was smooth and not overly heavy like creme brulee can sometimes be. While Emilio's in Hillside still remains my favorite tapas restaurant, this is a worthy contender and sets itself apart from other tapas places with its unique menu offerings.

Great food great service ! We were greeted by Charlie in to a great space a block from the lake.. you would not know you were just off Sheridan. The menu was a great mix of choices.. Hot cold and specials. It is tapas so small plates meant we could try lots ... and we did! Twisted Caprese and a watermelon salad to start. Both supurb! Lobster ravioli to die for, pork medallions I didn't want to share.. yummy black bean cakes and a shredded beef on a corn cake... All were excellent and different from each other to satisfy any palette. Then on to dessert.. creme Brule' and their Sunday with hot berries and caramel, all served up with a smile from Charlie and the staff who were all sweet and charming and who you would want to stay and visit with. I'd give it 6 stars if available!

I've dined here at least 7 times and it's been great every time. This place is a hidden gem well worth the trip even if you're not a Rogers Park local. Some of my favorites are: Wagyu beef short ribs Grilled octopus Various lamb specials Mango shrimp salad For drinks I really like their sangrias. The mixed drinks and wine list are great as well. The service is always excellent and friendly. When the check arrives, I feel Ive had a really great experience for a very fair price. I wish them continued success and will visit again soon.

'Twisted Tapas' This location has had a history of bomb restaurants, who's names aren't even worthy of remembering--never mind mentioning... I remember thinking to myself, "Will 1146 West Pratt ever prevail over its curse of, being too pricey, understaffed, il-managed, second rate-to terrible cuisine, or excellent food, but, not a good fit (too expensive) for the location?"--the answer was unclear until.... 'TWISTED TAPAS' saved the day! Bob, the owner, has brought in a concept new to Roger's Park and it's WORKING. For those who don't know what 'Tapas' means -- Tapas are smaller dishes, appetizer sized, and can be turned into an entree by ordering more than one (hot and cold dishes are available... read more: answers.yahoo.com/questi… )... And so because all the dishes are app sized (some bigger than others), it makes it more affordable for those who don't have the budget to spend a lot on an entree. WHAT MAKES IT 'TWISTED' Tapas? Well, Tapas are normally Spanish dishes, but, in Bob's establishment he serves the Tapas version of Macaroni and Cheese, along with other dishes, to make his menu a melting pot of delicious... I am a regular here, I know--my tummy has enjoyed the company of Grilled Asparagus, Empenada, Grilled Vegetables and Goat Cheese, Brussel Sprouts (sauteed with dried cherries and bacon, drizzled with balsamic glaze), Grilled Shrimp, Paella (chicken, mussels, shrimp served with saffron rice), etc... And the desserts that satisfied my sweet tooth are...a Mini Cherry Pie with a scoop of ice cream, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Tiramisu, and Creme Brulee (all entrees and desserts are homemade). 'Twisted Tapas' has been busy from the start (2-months old), while Ciao Bella's across the street has closed its doors, and rumored to, once again, be for sale. Could it be that with the combination of not having a liquor license, and the immediate success of 'Twisted Tapas', they were forced to close the doors?--I believe that that is a good deduction (based on theory, not fact)... Should you come in and get a bite to eat? The question should be why wouldn't you?

We finally went here last night even though we only live 2 blocks away it has never been convenient to our work schedules Great staff and food all around, I have never done the Tapas thing before and even with how good the food was I spent almost $50 for two people and I was still hungry, don't think I will be eating here too often maybe on special occasions, because as I said the food was really good but not worth spending that much and still be hungry

Had fish tacos (flour tortillas-my fav over Corn), cucumber salad, and tiramisu. Wine, sangria, and beer. Tacos come in set of 2 for 9.50. Over priced but flavorful. Will def go back!

Fantastic fantastic fantastic!!! Twisted Tapas blows away all other tapas joints in the city of Chicago. This is a small family owned tapas hidden away on the corners of Sheridan and Pratt and although parking is a little difficult to find it's well worth the hassle. Generous servings and all was very nice and fresh. I specially loved the paella, before tenderloin schewers and the fantastic salads. They also offer for full bar. All their tapas are reasonably priced. This is one of my favorite finds for the year.

I went to Twisted Tapas recently for a birthday party and it was such a great experience!. The decor is beautiful, the servers were very nice and attentive and the food and sangria were delish! We were in the little room off of the front, which is private and very light during the day. We got to try a lot because it was a party buffet, but the bacon-wrapped dates, gnocchi and mac & cheese stood out to me. I can't wait to go back for more of that mac and cheese for a regular sit-down dinner!

This place loses a full star for the terrible Sangria. That being said everything else was PHENOMENAL! Spicy Shrimp, Paella, Bacon wrapped Dates, Grilled Veggies with Goat Cheese, and Beef skewer. Between 2 people we shared 5 plates and left full. Seriously these guys need to make better sangria or buy a good store brand, it was a really bad foot to start out on. Luckily all the food was prepared very well and I can't wait to go back. I thought the prices were reasonable too.

Back again to a true favarite spot. The Grilled Lamb, Paella and Herb Brined Pork Tenderloin were amazing. Twisted is an outstanding restaurant.

Oh yeah. Good stuff. Not as expensive as other good small plate / tapas places. The bacon wrapped dates- they're so good, especially the sauce, that they should be illegal. I loved everything. The creative small dishes were great. They had a mix of nontraditional and traditional tapas- I would however like to see just a few more of the traditional Spanish things- you can never have too much Serrano ham, IMHO. I don't want them to get rid of any of the things they have, I want them to add to the menu! So everything was great and what I want for them to do is to have EVEN MORE.... Atmosphere is nice, fun, can work in a lot of social contexts or just for eating. Parking is hard to find. Public transit is plentiful and nearby, but if you drive give yourself some time to park 'cause you'll have to go a few blocks west to find a spot on a Saturday night. Weeknights might be a little better.

Had dinner with friends last night and could not be more eager to return. Tapas is such a civilized way to dine anyway, but on top of that, every dish was thoughtfully composed and perfectly prepared. Great mix of hot and cold plates. We tried quite a few items and enjoyed them all! The wine list was manageable in size, well paired with the menu and all kinds of good! Our server was very nice and wonderfully attentive, and the owner stopped by to chat and make sure we were enjoying our evening. The space is also beautiful and will be a real pleasure when they open the big front windows and enjoy a breeze off the lake in the summer. These folks have made a great commitment to the community and are working very hard to deliver another quality dining experience in Rogers Park. If you haven't been to Twisted Tapas yet, grab a table, order up a bottle of wine and prepare to enjoy.

Food - Amazing! The lobster ravioli, stuffed mushrooms, Brussel sprouts, WAGYU SHORT RIBS (oh my god!) - so delicious. Mouth watering. Service - Fantastic! Jill even chased my little one around so my husband & I could look at the menu & again when the food came so we could take a few consecutive bites ;) Overall, a WELCOME addition to the ERP neighborhood!

Mmmm...my hubsy and I ate just before catching the newest Hobbit at the 400 and yummo! We ordered the pumpkin ravioli and the jalapeno gnocchi, great combo with the rose sangria. Sweet, spicy, savory all at the same time. Quaint little spot. We'll be back!

There's no parking but once you get there you'll believe the walk was worth it. My family and I dined there and loved everything about it. The place was eclectic and homey with top notch service. The selection was great and we had 5 plates and a dessert. Every one of the dishes was delicious and I thought the price was reasonable. We'll definitely eat there again.

I live nearby and I've seen three owners try to make the most of this space. I have to say I think Twisted Tapas has a winning formula--great service from entry to exit, great selections on the menu and a wonderful ambience in the venue. I brought my date to Twisted last week and we both really enjoyed it. I can't wait to bring more friends to experience this new gem in Rogers Park!

I have had the pleasure of dining at Twisted Tapas a few times now, and I have been impressed every time (but that might be because I order the same things : )). I have gotten their jalapeno gnocchi and braised beef dish on every visit, and I must say that they are amazing! The jalapeno gnocchi has just the right kick, creaminess, and texture! The beef paired with scalloped sweet potatoes is also a must-order. Other dishes that I have tried but don't order every time have been good as well (except for their Spanish omelette, that was not as suited to my tastes). Because 95% of the dishes I have tried I have enjoyed, I wouldn't hesitate trying new things from the menu and hope to do so soon!

This place is amazing. I want to go back at least once every other week, if not once a week. My husband and I went to Twisted Tapas for date night one Saturday. Finding parking in this area can be challenging, but we found a spot right in front of the restaurant without having to drive around. Bonus! Once we got inside, all of the tables were full, so we had to wait maybe 15 minutes, which wasn't too bad. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir (this place does have a full bar). We ate a ton of food. Here's what we ate: We started off with the Cucumber Salad, which had cucumber (obviously), tomatoes, red onion and feta cheese with a red wine vinaigrette. It wasn't mind blowing or anything, but it was a good start to the meal. The Mac and Cheese was definitely the highlight of dinner. It's super-creamy and has sun-dried tomatoes in bacon in it - amazing! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The Baked Goat Cheese was a close runner-up to the Mac and Cheese. Delicious! One of the best I'd ever had. Once again, it was super-creamy. Another runner-up would be the Stuffed Mushrooms, which are roasted with Monterrey jack, spinach and tomato sauce. We also had the Stuffed Chicken Breast. It's stuffed with spinach, carrots, portobello mushrooms and herb butter. The Beef Tenderloin was good. It has grilled angus beef with some kind of sauce. I think overall, the vegetarian dishes seemed to outshine the meat dishes, but everything we ate was excellent. We were so stuffed that we didn't even have room for dessert, which is rare for us. Highly recommend!

This place has great food but their sangria is horrrrrible.....! I ordered a sangria and it was ridiculously loaded with ice. Had to use a fork to remove the ice and still didn't make a difference. What is amazing is that as you enter the resturant, there was a board written, " come and try the horrible sangria a guy wrote about on Yelp". Because of that I decided to try the sangria thinking the restaurant had confidence on their drink. Little did I know that it's exactly like how the guy on yelp described it. It's a shame that the resturant is proud to put something like that in front of the store. It would have been a different story if the drink tasted great. Final words to the resturant, "please remove that silly board because your sangria sucks". Put it back when the taste gets better.

I heard about this place through Groupon and the family trekked over on an early Sunday evening. This restaurant quickly became my favorite dining experience this year. Service was amazing and food was both unique and delicious. My partner does not eat red meat and often has limited options but we had a ton of choices here, none lacking flavor. The jalapeño gnocchi was by far the best thing we ate. Delicious! Also great was the stuffed zucchini and chicken meatballs. My only complaint was the goat cheese marinara dish was way overly salty. I must mention how incredibly great the staff was. As we entered we noticed a frozen themed birthday party in their private party room. My five year old couldn't stop staring at all the exciting Frozen decorations. Turns out this was someone who worked at the restaurants daughter's party. The staff brought my girls tiaras, a frozen lunch box , princess pencils, decorations, and coloring books. Needless to say, they were in heaven. They went above and beyond and made two kids very happy. We will be back for the great food and excellent service.

I've been to Twisted three times now in this location. All have been pretty mediocre experiences. Not bad, just very middling. The sangria was not very good at all. Thankfully they have added a cocktail menu (which the drinks were an improvement). More than that I found the food to be very hit or miss. The first time everything we had was so laden with sauce we needed to order more bread to sop it up. Other times there were inconsistencies with portion sizing and flavors. Some were tiny while others were too much or too rich. Its difficult to even provide examples as there are several dishes that sounds so very similar to each other. For example, there are several kind of goat cheese dishes. Thankfully the waitress, who I have had twice and is a bit of a koo koo, will often just steer you in the right direction by shaking her head yes or no. This also applies to the several meat dishes. So this brings me to my final conclusion on this place. Edit the menu. There are Several really good things going on here. Some that are almost there, and others which are not very good at all. Focus on whats good and what works. Sashimi at tapas? Ok, not a terrible idea, but do it properly. Knock out some of the other bland dishes then. This place has great potential, a great location, and is a perfect stop before or after a movie at the new 400 across the street. I look forward to seeing their continued improvements.

We ordered a number of dishes including the spanish omelette, the garlic potato salad, the peach and burrata salad, the jalepeno gnocchi, and the brussels sprouts. While the jalepeno gnocchi was good, and the brussels sprouts had nice flavor (but were also extremely greasy-like sitting in about 1/4 inch of grease), the garlic potato salad was a completely bland version of the patatas alioli I am used to getting at tapas places (lacking salt and garlic flavor), and the spanish omelette was only so-so (I had it once before here, and I remember it being better). Also, the host was pretty abrasive, and made us feel a bit uncomfortable every time she approached our table. For example, at one point, she lectured me about the way I had my purse hanging from my chair, and without permission, grabbed it and moved it to a location she deemed to be safer (which, for the record, was less secure than where I had it in the first place). In contrast, our server was very nice, and there were no issues there. Overall, nothing we ate was bad, but it's not one of my top choices for tapas. I like to support restaurants in the neighborhood, but this simply isn't one of the best, and I doubt we'll be back.

Love this place because it's warm and friendly with Jill and Bob welcoming us, We're a group of 8 gathering for a Birthday. It's cold out so had my usual Jameson's in coffee @ the bar while awaiting my friends. We enjoyed our Birthday gathering with a variety of hot tapas and wines. I feel it's a good deal and a great place to gather. The Side Room, when available, is very inviting and warm with it's own small fireplace.

What a great place! From the tiled floor and wall, to the multi-colors used throughout, to the expansive ceiling and original fixtures; this place oozes ambiance and character. I haven't even gotten to the food yet! Although set in a cozy street in the Northside of Chicago you can easily imagine yourself in a quaint Spanish villa in some small town in Spain. Loved it. On to the food. We ordered 4 dishes; olive plate, stuffed calamari, stuffed mushrooms and mussels. Start to finish everything was great. The drinks were spot on; dessert as well. Jill, you are wonderful at making people feel welcome and you create a personal and family atmosphere that feels like home . Thank you. We will definitely be back. We found our go-to place next time were at the 400 Theater!

The food was fine. I won't say that it was any better than that. The sangria was nothing special. There are so many tapas bars in the city, many that I've been to, and definitely all better than this one. If it weren't for the convenience of location, it's not likely I would return. The service was sub-par (waitress forgot to put in 3 of the six tapas we ordered. We waited over an hour for spicy potatoes and grilled shrimp!) and the tapas were inferior. They gave us a comp dessert for their mistake but forgot to take it off the bill.. We weren't going to order dessert but since they offered, we took it. And then ended up having to pay for it. Nice atmosphere overall. Jill is very personable, but the rest of the staff seemed to be too busy to notice any details.

This is by far the best Tapas place I've ever been too! My friends and I love this place and I have added a few more friends to the group who loved it as well. We order so much here... Jalapeno gnocchi, spicy potatoes, chicken skewers, beef skewers, bacon wrapped dates, the desserts... my friends love the stuffed chicken and the mac and cheese, as well. It also helps that the service is great! The manager Jill has us coming back because she is so great! Also, you can't beat the prices! Twisted Tapas is a must try restaurant!

Ok...food is fabulous and if you have not taken the opportunity to try TT run don't walk. It was booming on a Sunday early evening as well as Saturday late. How would I know this you ask yourself? Yup, I was in both days back to back. As a former caterer/chef the selection will please all palettes. I believe it has brought up the RP restaurant choices a notch. Jill is an awesome manager and will have you rolling off your seats. Her wit and spunk should be bottled.

The food is really good. It's what the name suggests - a twist on what you know about tapas. If you do, that is. Yes - there are a few options that resemble some dishes you've had at Spanish tapas restaurants. But there are many small plate options that are delightful twists. The management and servers make you feel like you're in Cheers. They become friends and introduce you to other regulars. This is truly great neighborhood establishment. Thank you for being my third place. (If you don't understand The Third Place reference, look it up.)

This was great! The service was the best I've received in a good long while, and the food was excellent, too. Also, don't know what that Yelp guy is talking about - we loved the pink sangria. Ordered lobster ravioli, brussel sprouts, short rib, and eggplant, all of which were great. Plus, when I mentioned offhand that I didn't like gorgonzola, our server brought the cream gorgonzola sauce to try with the bread - and it was actually quite tasty! We loved our experience here and will be returning.

The service here was friendly and environment was decent. No crazy loud music to fight with to have a conversation which was nice for a change. However, the food was not good. We ordered the paella tasted too much like chicken stock or like it came from a box. It wasn't warm, and the chicken was chopped into small pieces that were tough. It had very little flavor.Second we ordered the jalapeno gnocchi. It was way over boiled. The gnocchis were so soft they were falling apart. The flavor was okay, but nothing to write home about. Last we had the steak skewers. The were too charred and also a little tough. Maybe it was an off night based on the other reviews...we really wanted to like this place, but were very disappointed in the food. All of it seemed low quality and or pre-prepared. If i'd sum it, I'd say pass.

So glad to have this in the neighborhood! Went here for my birthday dinner and thought it was great. I loved the jalapeño gnocchi, caprese salad and beet salad. I thought the baked goat cheese, bacon wrapped dates and ahi tuna were just okay. I probably wouldn't get them again. There are so many options that I'm looking forward to going back to try more! The one piece of advice is don't go there on a date. There were a ton of kids, some of them running around unsupervised. A bit of a turn-off.

I live about 4 blocks and went last Saturday and have a wonderful meal. Everything was fresh and tasty. This is a great addition to the area. The only thing I would have liked was a better wine list. It was ok but besides that it was AWESOME! It would be nice if they delivered as well. Service 5 stars Food 5 stars The space 5 stars If you haven't been to Twisted Tapas yet, grab a table, order up a bottle of wine and prepare to enjoy! I hope everyone shares this so that this restaurant is successful.

Everything we ordered was great. Bacon dates are a must order. I could have licked the plate, the sauce was incredible. Japanese eggplant with goat cheese was incredible and the chix meatballs. Great vintage open space, service was attentive. Hostess adorable. Only negative was difficult Rogers Park street parking.

This was our first time at the restaurant. Instead of being greeted with a "Welcome to Twisted Tapas, " Jill the hostess scolded us for not having a reservation. We came at 5 p.m. and they just opened! It was empty!!! She didn't know if she could accommodate us and we were told that next time, we better make a reservation. There was a party of six behind us and they got the same reprimand. What? You can't figure out how to push tables together? My sister and her family walked in five minutes after we did. Jill said, "You better be with that party of 10, otherwise, we can't seat you." Nice greeting. We were also told we had 1 1/2 hours at the table and then we would have to leave!! After I complained loudly enough for Jill to hear me, she came back and apologized. She also gave us two coupons for two free tapas. After I thanked her for her apology, we had a nice meal. We enjoyed the grilled octopus, escargot, and bacon-wrapped dates. The lamb meatballs (on the specials) were very dry and not tasty. I don't know if we'd be back. We felt so unwelcome and scolded for not having a reservation. When we left after two hours, the restaurant was still empty so what was the big commotion all about?? If I were Jill, I would make sure to greet all customers with a smile and do some problem-solving with the tables. Don't be mad or overwhelmed if people don't have a reservation. Move some tables together - done. We tried to make a reservation, but they don't open until 5 p.m. and we just got a recording.

4 of us ate here pre theatre plans. We ordered 6 appetizers and loved every one of them We were very happy with the service from Jill who saw to our time schedule and every palate need. Definitely plan on making this a must go to in Rogers Park. Great new addition.

I've been here about 5 times and every time I've been so happy with my experience! Wait staff is nice, food is good! Love the goat cheese. I understand it may not be the best tapa place in Chicago but it is unarguably the best tapas place in Rogers Park. Given the nearby restaurant options, this is one of my favorites! Come get some yummy tapas instead of getting tasteless heartland food!
