I genuinely love this little Turkish restaurant in Lakeview. The food is so flavorful and delicious, and the service is spectacular. I usually get the Kofte Kebab with bulgar. The kofte are small patties of a beef and lamb. SO GOOD! I get it ever single time I eat there. I've also tried their bagaganoush (sorry I can't spell it) and their iskender, which I believe is lamb slathered in a yogurt and tomato sauce. Perfection. The portions are very generous and they also have a BYOB policy with $6 corkage fee. Oh! And they offer warm in-house baked Turkish bread with a lentil spread. One of my favorite reasons why I frequent this place. Please check this restaurant out. You won't be disappointed!

Best. Hummus. Ever. The bread they gave us with this hummus was ridiculously delicious. I can't even describe how soft and delicious it was.bThe hummus was so creamy. They definitely peeled their chickpeas! I have this place bookmarked to visit again!

One of the best Mediterranean places I have been too. The hummus is really awesome. Hummus Meat Entree (lamb) and the Lamb Sis Kabab are one of my favorite dishes here. Definitely recommend this place.

YUM. Troy has THE BEST MEAT. It's been awhile since I've been here, so forgive me for not remembering exactly what I've eaten, but Troy will forever stick out in my mind as an amazing little Mediterranean gem in Lakeview. Word of advice: It gets packed, so call to make a reservation! And bring a bottle of wine for yourself, it's BYOB. I seriously cannot recommend their lamb dishes enough. I've spent quite a bit of time in Turkey and other surrounding countries, and this is some of the best Mediterranean food I've had in the US. I don't care where in the city you live, get yourself here pronto.

This was the place I was dying to come back to as soon as I arrived to Chicago. Lucky for me, I now live right around the corner from Troy Mediterranean so I headed right on over after I dropped off my bags at my new place. The filet mignon skewers are THE BEST. It comes with this tasty tomato salad and hot (temperature-wise) rice that hits the spot. And when I walked in, the place was a bit hot inside and the waitress mentioned it was because they're baking their breads. These breads came hot and fresh to my table as soon as they were done. It came with a white bean paste that's delicious and healthy to boot. The service was nice as last time and I always seems to go there at these odd hours when no one's around. But as soon as I sit, customers start trickling in. Love them and can't wait to try their other stuff.

DELICIOUS. I was looking for mediterranean takeout and found this place on Yelp. When I walked in- I was the only person in the restaurant so I was a little apprehensive, but decided that since I was inside- I`d go for it. After all, Yelp can't be wrong, right? I ordered the Chicken Saute with a side of bulgur, at the waitresses recommendation since I had never heard of it. She was extremely friendly and even gave me a little bit of their Lentil Ezme and fresh bread as I waited. Now... specifics on the food. First, the Lentil Ezme. FANTASTIC. It's now my mission to recreate this at home. I`ll definitely be ordering this whenever I go back to this restaurant (which I plan on doing frequently). The fresh bread that I got with it was also amazing, and I typically don't eat bread. Next came the saute and the bulgur. Now, I will say although the presentation of the saute wasn't the most appetizing thing I've ever seen (it's in a brown sauce which I personally think makes any food look iffy), I quickly forgot about it the second I tried it. It was delicious. The bulgur comes with a house sauce which was also very tasty. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be going back frequently!

First and foremost, the food at Troy was phenomenal. All items were very reasonably priced, and the members of our party all devoured their entrées, especially enjoying the flavorful fillet kebabs and tender chicken baba ganoush. We ended our dinner by splitting a delicious ice cream and custard desert, disappointed that we had to share, accompanied by Turkish coffee. What made our dining experience truly great, however, was the lovely setting and friendly and attentive wait staff. We were quickly and cheerfully attended to by our waiter, and then pleasantly engaged by the chef/owner, Apo, whose friendly and welcoming personality made us feel right at home. Bottom line, go to Troy, as I surely will be again the next time I am in Chicago.

I love this place. The service is great, and the food is even better. Both times I've been here, I ordered the filot mignon sis kabob, and it's been equally as delicious both times. The rice is perfect, and the meat is very tender. It comes with a salad with red onions and tomatoes, which I could do without, but I'm just not a huge tomato fan. Both times I've been here, it's just been the same one server waiting tables, but he's quick and efficient! The restaurant is also BYOB, but they do charge a corkage fee. I believe it is $1 for beer and $6 for wine.

  • Julie Y.

This place is absolutely amazing. Small Byob with only one guy running around doing everything but the chef is super nice. All the food is amazing! They have no hot sauce. Asked for some and they gave me a tomato paste with crush red pepper... Whatever I'll take it cause everything else was so good! Sometimes chicken can be dry but this guy knows how to cook it right. Need to come here again ASAP! They had some weird Turkish wedding playing in the back once we asked to change it to something else they had no problem and played some music and that changed the vibe! If you're around and hungry stop by this place!

  • Katy S.

Katy searched on Yelp for "BYOB" in Lakeview, by rating, and here pops up Troy. With their great reviews and lax BYOB policy, this place caught my eye. I had a bottle of whiskey I wanted to consume nearby with no difficulties from the restaurant I would choose due to it being hard alcohol. Most restaurants only let you B.Y.O. beer/wine but a quick call to Troy got me to know that they will let me bring my booze with only a $10 corkage fee (note: wine is $6). To me, that price is awesome considering how much drinks are at any other establishment. Oh & they let me bring my own Cranberry Juice too. Cheers! Now on to the food: we both ordered lamb kebabs with rice & veggies. I must say that their lamb was cooked very well and was a generous portion and their rice was PHENOM! I'm Cuban and know that a good white rice is hard to perfect. Troy knows their rice - it was seasoned perfectly, soft, and their red sauce to compliment it was very tasty. The prices are a little steep for a restaurant that small. For one kebab meal, you're looking @ $12; for two kebabs, $18. The service was as good as it could have been. Our server was very nice but was slammed with tables as it was super, super busy. Patience is key @ Troy if you're dining there on the weekends. The restaurant itself is small, cute, and dim; perfect for a date. I'd definitely go back, especially with my BFF booze bottle. Another great Yelp find added to the list.

The first thing you notice when walking by this place is the two little men statues at the door...thats what got me to come in the first time when this place opened a couple of years ago. They used to be BYOB, but they now serve alcohol. You can still come equipped with booze but you will get hit with a corkage fee (I forgot how much...around $8 I think). Place gets pretty packed on a Fri/Sat evening so make sure you hit them up for a reservation so you don't end up waiting. They can seat large groups as well as an intimate table for 2. Now onto the food! Their hummus is pretty good as well as their babaganouj. The Sigara Borgei is pretty damn good as well! Even the bread with hummus spread is off the chain. The Beef and Lamb Platter served with rice and vegetables is pretty damn delicious as an entree. Its one of those moments you can't put your fork down LOL

We had a truly lovely lunch here today, having just lucked across it. The outdoor seating area, though small, was spotless and quiet -- and they didn't mind our dogs at all (they were on best behavior luckily). The shepherd's salad was bright and fresh; the falafel among the best and lightest I've had - with outstanding hummus. We also shared the Troy combo (chicken, beef and kofta kebabs) and the meat was tender and perfectly cooked. Overall, some of the very best Mediterranean we've had in ages and a great neighborhood find. The staff couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. A new mainstay for us!

Came here with my gf, her sister, and her friend for dinner. The place itself isn't very big but I thought it was set up well. There were no issues with service at all either. The three stars is mainly for the food. I ordered the kofte kebab and I got the cracked wheat to go along with it. Honestly, the kebab wasn't anything special and it just tasted like a middle eastern spiced hamburger patty. Now I don't mean that in a bad way I'm just trying to say that it didn't taste like anything special. Also the salad I got along with it was incredibly sour. And I mean ridiculously sour. Legit tasted like straight up lemon juice. I ate a couple bites of it and I couldn't do it anymore and I hate wasting food so that was pretty bad. Also for like 17 bucks I got 5 not very big meatballs and cracked wheat. I think I'll just stick to sultans from now on

  • H H.

Small restaurant with a quant atmosphere. I can't give it 5 stars because it didn't wow me with flavor. Is really like to give 3.5 stars but decided to be nicer bc the staff was very sweet. The stuffed mushrooms were good, but lacked flavor. The sirloin kebabs were good but over cooked and again lacked in the flavor dept. The stallion on the tv was funny. Don't understand its placement or why it was there exactly. Haha.

What a sweet Greek restaurant. Although almost deserted of patrons when I went for dinner, I had a wonderful experience in terms of food quality and taste, and enjoyed a relaxing meal. The food is fantastic. Despite noone else eating at the time we were there, the food was fresh and hot. Baba ganoush was soo silky, smoky, and smooth. I cleaned that up with the hot and buttery bread. There's nothing like the smell of hot fresh bread to start a meal on a cold winter night. The entrees were great too, although my lamb meat wrapped in "thin bread" looked a lot like enchiladas. Still good though. And the service was personal and great!

  • James O.

The food and the service were excellent. We had the Baba ghanoush, the filet skewer and the lamb skewers. The filet was good but the flavor for the lamb was amazing. We brought our own bottle of wine. FYI- There is a $6 corkage fee. I guess they added that after they got their liquor license.

This place is AMAZING! I went there with a group of people and we each ordered a different food. All of them were GREAT! And the service was the BEST! I will definitely go back to Troy and take more friends with me.

Pleasantly surprised with Troy's...very tasty food! My favorites were the adana (long skewer of lamb) and the rice that comes with the dish. Rice was just perfectly cooked and came with this red tomato sauce that paired very well with it. The sis kebab and chicken were as good as most middle eastern/mediterranean restaurants. Not so for the adana...so tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned! We also ordered the grilled shrimp, which was alright. The only disappointing dish was the mushroom sauté with melted cheese...the mushrooms weren't well cooked or seasoned, didn't use portabella or another more flavorful type but instead the regular small white mushrooms. Then again, middle eastern food is known for its meats, not so much mushrooms! All in all, we were pleased with both the food and service.

Amazing mediterranean/arab food in hip trendy area. The lamb kabob in sauce is amazing. Also the filet mignon kabobs are perfectly tender and the chicken kabobs are juicy and delicous. Great service. Highly recommended if youre in the mood for arab style food that isnt too dry

I liked Troy -- it's definitely A-OK. The food was good, the ambiance was cozy, and our server was cordial. It was much better than my recent visit to another Mideastern restaurant, Salam, in every regard. We started with sigara boregi (phyllo-wrapped feta with parsley) -- crispy & mildly tangy. For entrées, we tried a couple of lamb kebab dishes: Apo's Nazzik (ground lamb skewers over hot baba ghannouj with yogurt), and Beyti Kebab (spiced ground lamb skewers wrapped in bread) -- both were nicely flavored (though a bit salty) and amply portioned. Troy now has a liquor license, but allows BYOB with a $6 corkage fee. The wine/beer list is quite lean -- I think there were 3 reds, 3 whites and 3 beers available. We enjoyed ou meal and had no complaints. I can't rate it 4*, but it's good enough that I'd return if I was in the neighborhood and up for a fix of Turkish/Mediterranean food in pleasant surroundings.

Better than I expected! Loved the fresh bread and app Lentil that was provided while we wait for our order to be ready. We got seconds :) I had the Mixed Grill plate & it was amazing (got a side of yogurt to dip meat) my husband got Adana yogurt. Service was great! Will Def be returning on our next Chicago trip!

This place has a lot going for it. Friendly service, owner run Turkish spot in a good location. There is a small wine & beer list but you can also BYOB for a fee ($6). I tried two appetizers--the cold lentils in olive oil and the babaganoush were both very tasty. The homemade bread is delicious. Since I tend to fill up on bread & appetizers in a place like this, it's great that you can order a half-order of any kebob, i.e. one skewer instead of two. The lamb shish kebob was tender and charred. It came with a mound of tasty bulgar wheat (or rice, if you prefer). I left before dessert, both because I was full and because the Turkish sound track was beginning to get to me. But I guess that's an acquired taste.

By far one of my favorites! I stumbled on this place a few years ago when I lived upstairs and the place was just opening up. The owner has always been so nice and friendly... he would always say hi to me and my roommates whenever we were coming or going from out apartment. He would always say stop by to try a couple appetizers on the house. So we did one day and now 2 years later its one of my favorite spots in Chicago! I set up my cousin's surprise 30th dinner this past Saturday. When I called in the reservation... 20 people had confirmed and I had mentioned it was for a surprise birthday party. When we got there the table was set up with flowers and roses! Unfortunately, 6 people canceled that night but they ended up giving us food for 20 at no additional charge! We got all the appetizers, their amazing Coban salad (so light and refreshing), and finally the entree of rice with all the chicken, kofte, filet kebabs! Honestly the food is always amazing and delicious and the warm bread served at the beginning of the meal is more than enough reason to go! The owner came up to us after the meal and wished my cousin a happy birthday and made sure everything was okay. It's a little gem in the heart of Lakeview!

Hands down the best Mediterranean restaurant I've ever been to. Our server was very polite, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Although they serve alcohol there, they also allow you to BYOW. We enjoyed some complimentary bread with a garlic spread (real sexy and yummy), then had the chicken hummus and chicken sate plates with bulgur. The chicken was moist and cooked so perfectly, and went so well with the hummus. The hummus was very flavorful. I thoroughly enjoyed the food here and am sincerely bummed that I don't live in Chicago. Will definitely come back there!

  • Elena B.

I simply love this place. I live nearby and went there once just by accident and was pleasantly surprised by how good was all the food that I tried. Then I went back two more times over the last two weeks. Why? Well, the food is just awesome, fresh, and healthy. I am Italian, and I do appreciate the Mediterranean-type of cuisine, as it's tasty but not too heavy, and I like veggies a lot. Bread is just awesome, it's always served warm... you just wouldn't stop eating it! Among appetizers: tabouli (awesome!), dolma, falafel and hummus (the best I have ever tried, I think) Among entrees, I tried both chicken and filet mignon kebab: both were good, but definitely try the filet mignon over the chicken :) It's BYOB, so you can bring your own drinks, but they also serve wine and beer (Turkish beer, but also some other kinds - not much choice though, so if you want something specific bring your own and expect a 1$ cork fee) Oh and I almost forgot... It is very cheap! Great place, looking forward to go there again!!

    (5)
  • Sam S.

My wife and I ate here last week. We had the tabouli appetizer and split the kofte kabob (the original, not Apo's special), and we got it with the white rice. The tabouli was great. The kofte and rice was absolutely incredible! It was plenty large to share, service was great, and we will absolutely return. UPDATE: I ate here again. The good was great, again. But, I dropped from five stars to four thanks to the new $6/wine bottle and $1/bottle of beer corkage fee.

This is my second review about this restaurant. I would like to let the yelp community know that I am being bullied by the owner for my previous review (which I encourage you to read for an honest opinion). The owner of this place somehow found my facebook account and contacted me to ask for my review to be changed in a very rude way. First of all this is against the Yelp policy. Secondly, in all of my previous experiences, when I was displeased with the service or the food of a restaurant, the management apologized and made a kind gesture of some sort. Instead the management of Troy chose to bully me, personally, over facebook telling me their service is excellent and they do not deserve my 'bad' review. I get to be the judge of that, this is what the whole platform of Yelp is all about. If you are trying to increase your ratings by bullying costumers, you probably deserve those reviews. This kind of an attitude tells a lot about their attitude towards their costumers...

One of the most delicious restaurants in Chicago, the place is kind small but thats what i liked about it. Comfy, clean & fabulous. Highly recommend it. Waitress is so nice, helpful & quick. Its also "Halal" . Viva Troy Viva Turkey.

Wonderful date night spot that is also BYOB! Can you say winning?! Service: Above par. Food: Authentic Mediterranean cuisine. Ambiance: Cozy little restaurant that is perfect for a date night. The noise level is average. Also great for bigger events, such as birthdays. They had a rather large group when I visited. Cost factor: Given the quality of the food, it's worth it! Overall: Five stars!!

  • Rits M.

Troy is a great option for solid, good kebabs. BJ is great with the service, even though it was packed when we came in, he was attentive and informed us about time the dishes would take and made good recommendations. We had the appetizer platter and the kebab platter- I would recommend both of these, everything on them was delish. If you would like a single dish, the Kofta kebab which was my personal fave- get the whole order, not half, then there's enough to enjoy another time. I would also recommend the bulgar rather than the white rice. For dessert, we had the cheese and phyllo, which really, if you don't try, will make your tongue miss a gastronomical feat. This place is also BYOB with no corkage fee. I cannot really place it and say it is for date night/ other, I would come here on my own as well, just for the good food. Thanks for a great evening Troy!

I'm surprised I haven't written a review for Troy yet! So super delicious. In fact, I was there for my birthday dinner a few weeks ago...and want to go back. I'll break it down for you. -BYOB (win) -Takes reservations -Can accommodate larger groups -Delicious in an unassuming package -Affordable The hummus and babaganouj are outstanding, as is the warm bread they serve you upon arrival. I usually have the lamb and babaganouj platter and leave sickly full because I eat too much. Did I mention delicious?

I drove all the way from Buffalo Grove to try this place. Five stars all the way. I enjoyed my dinner at troy very much. The Turkish pizza (Lahm Bagin) was excellent! Kefta was tender and juicy and the Bulgar added extra flavor to the delicious meal. The place is small but very well organized there was a t.v. on the wall that was playing live camera from under the sea, some kind of aquarium with nice flamenco Spanish music (very relaxing). The food was very fresh and as a man in business i can tell the ingredients were top of the line from the Olive oil and the organic veggies to the delicious meats! Service was excellent. I was greeted by a gentleman who seated me and helped me order. The owner was talking to the people on each table and asked me if i liked the food and if there is anything i need, he even got me tea on the house when he knew i drove from the north suburbs to visit his restaurant. Very polite and professional. The table next to me had two older french couple (very nice people) They were also like me impressed of the quality of the food and i just want to mention for the record that while i was speaking french to the couple and wishing them a blessed night on their way out, the owner opened the door to the lady and walked her all the way out! And i refer to the yelp review @ Wendy K. (the owner was treating the French lady as he was a SIR from England and she was the queen!) I didn't see the problem with women! I just don't understand how some people leave their emotions on a yelp review. I have to mention that it took me some time to find a parking spot but it was well worth it. I will be back and will tell all my friends about this place.

LOVE this place. First of all, it's BYOB so keep that in mind. Secondly, I was a "so so" fan of Mediterranean before trying Troy, and now I venture to try Mediterranean restaurants often - but Troy remains my favorite. Favorite dishes: Filet Yogurt Kabob - Entrée Soslu Patlican - Appetizer

I was turned off by all the fake reviews (really, this place was so 5-star amazing that you had to create a new account just to review it and not just 1 person, but 20 people were driving to this behavior). But my friend, whose recommendation I generally trust, suggested it. The place was totally empty when we arrived - they brought out some bread but it was hard (reheated). The sigara was okay - very oily. The dolma was fine. The lentil soup was good. The mushrooms were terrible.

NNNAAAAAHHHHH!!! I called two days before event. Machine was on all day. Next day, answering machine was on all day again..for a business? left a VM Thursday night for reservations for 12 for 6pm for Friday 12/20. Friday morn, I called again to make sure, waitress answered and confirmed. Couple of hours later, owner calls back and tells me waitress doesn't know what's going on and that he couldn't take my reservation unless I order a family style package. Me: so I can't just order from the menu? owner: no me: nevermind! CLICK!!!!! My cousin calls later with a reservation for ten. Owner tries to convince him to order family package. He says no. Owner says it's fine he can order from menu. Wtf just happened here? I can't shake the feeling that it was bc I was a woman...Mediterrenean, etc, come on... The bad: Strike 1: My friend's side dish with her entree was never put in, they offered to bring it when she was done with ther plate..UUHHHH??? no, we cancelled it Strike 2: Two Filet Mignon's were too well done and hence very dry Strike 3: My husband's Filet Mignon was never put in so I had the chance to tell them med-rare. His came when everyone finished all their meals after I told THEM how to properly cook it! (they never asked us our preferred temp) NO ventilation! all our coats and hair smelled like kebob and we could even see smoke all over the rest. at one point. Compensation: Owner comes and asks how everything was with a smile assuming our answer was going to be " Awesome! Opa!" we told him everything. He just nodded, asked whose bday it was and compt us three desserts with lit candles to share. Turned off lights and played Happy Bday song. It felt like it was to shut us up and I don't remember hearing an apology. Owner seemed to be interested in what the guys had to say not the women. I hope I'm wrong but experience was enough not to return. The good: other plates and apps were excellent. My salmon was very small. It looks bad when the rice is bigger than the salmon. The ugly: Dude! (owner) you have to let go of your mentality towards women! there are more of us than men now and earn more than them sometimes! you will lose business if you keep thinking that way bro. We can vote and can own land now!! ooohhhhh! Imagine THAT!!!!

This is my go-to place. I try to bring new people here often to turn them on to this great, fresh and healthy food. Always start with Hydari and hummus. The kabobs are amazing. I have never had a bad meal. Apo is a great cook.

Had a really nice dinner here, but nothing I want to run back for. The service was a little scattered, but it might just be because they're new. Love that this place is in a great location, reasonably priced, and BYOB. We ordered the Troy Pizza, lamb kebab, and shrimp saute. Unfortunately, our waitress told us that they were out of the Troy Pizza as our entrees were arriving. She obviously felt bad, I just wish she had a) told us earlier or b) brought us something else on the house. Both of our entrees were easy to share and well-prepared. While they were both good, I felt they weren't packed with flavor. We asked for some hot sauce and the Turkish variation they provided was great, definitely remedied the issue. Overall, good place to stop at before a movie or if you're looking for a solid, reasonably-priced BYOB.

A true gem. Pleasant, and cozy, ambiance, homemade food, and service that feels welcoming and accommodating. First, the bread, oh the bread, beyond fresh and delicious. Next, the chicken kabob with a lovely salad, and a bed of rice. Last the Baklava with a scoop of ice-cream and pistachio sprinkles. I enjoy every bite.

Great food, great location. We returned to Lakeview with our kids after being away for 10, very long years. Very long. We hold our restaurant choices near and dear to our hearts with limited time in the city. Troy was worth it. Even better, we knew our waiter, Carlos, from over 10 years ago and he remembered us. Troy is lucky to have him - great food and great people.

Wonderful spread, ambience, and service. The complimentary bread was so good, we had it refilled twice. I ordered the hummus and lamb entree, which was smaller portions than expected, but I left comfortably full. Topped off the meal with Baklava. Oh, the baklava. Great balance of flavors and included pomegranate seeds on the side! A visit from Apo made for a special Mediterranean experience.

WOW! Went Wednesday at 6 and had the place to ourselves. Best Turkish meal I ever had. Lamb shishkebob med. rare and bulgar wheat. Excellent yogurt and cucumbers. BYOB. Very reasonable. Probably the best med food you can get in lakeview. Troy does not disappoint. Also, prepare yourself for the persian disco music. A nice touch that makes you feel like you arent in Chicago.

Troy is an ancient city, as many of you already know, but it's actually located in Turkey. So it makes sense that Troy Mediterranean Grill is a Turkish restaurant. When my girlfriend decided one night we'd eat here, I was excited, because I love all things Turkey and want to live there one day as it is a beautiful country. To start, we got a healthy serving of bread as part of the meal which was very good. At other Turkish places in the states, I have gotten stale-ish bread many times, but this bread was not stale and was very good. For the appetizers, we ordered Mucver and Haydari, which are favorites of mine brought on by my last trip to Istanbul. I also ordered Ayran (yogurt/buttermilk-type of drink) and my girlfriend got the lentil soup. Mucver are fritters made of zucchini, dill, feta cheese, egg, flour, etc. The ones here were good and had a healthy serving of the yogurt/dill/garlic sauce on the side. The Haydari is definitely the best I've ever had, which includes anything I've had in Turkey (I typically have had Haydari with many meals in Turkey). It goes great with the bread. The lentil soup was also good from what I had. For the main course, I ordered the Iskender (Yogurtlu), which is another favorite of mine. Iskender is typically lamb that is layed over bread that's been soaked (I think?). It has tomato and yogurt sauce in it all melding together to make a great dish. The one I had here was very good and just as good, if not better, than any I've had in Turkey. My girlfriend had the Lamb Kebab which was great, and our friend with us had the Steak (Filet Mignon?) Kebab. Again, very good and you can tell they're using very good meat here. We struck up a conversation with the owner, who was a really nice and genuine guy originally from Turkey. He even offered us some Turkish tea at the end, which was good! He also gave my girlfriend some extra soup when she wanted it in a to go container. Very nice guy. The only thing I wish they had (so far), is Apple tea. That stuff is amazing, but it's probably not easy to get in Chicago. Overall, this place was very good and possibly the best Turkish food I've had in Chicago. It's also BYOB, which is great! If you walk by this place and pass it up, then I feel bad for you. It's great food! I will definitely be back. The rest of their menu looks great.

Not experiencing what others have said. The ingredients are super fresh but lack the flavor I was expecting. The hummus was bland, the lamb was needing some flavor and was a bit tough. Did enjoy the freshness a lot though. Maybe if I try more Turkish dishes it will be better. The zucchini app was really good and the yogurt was super fesh. Of this is true then why not just focus in Turkish and not sell me on Mediterranean.

Food was decent, but service was very slow and the restaurant was crowded and filled with smoke from the kitchen. Our main courses took about 45 minutes to arrive, and out waiter didn't apologize or offer anything for while we waited. Food was ok but not so flavorful. I would not recommend this restaurant.

It was an evening to remember ! 6 of us hungry was warmly greeted by the owner and met the most attentive, delightful, thoughtful accommodating waitress Danielle who promptly showed up with a basket to die for bread that is special only to this restaurant along with "on the house" appetizer. Extremely warm atmosphere with soft Turkish music in the background we order our appetizers along with our wine that we brought. No corkage charge! Nice touch! For the main course we asked to have a mixed grill for all 6 of us to share with a large salad. It was amazing! The different meat grilled to perfection with on bed of different rice dishes and vegetables. My mouth is watering now as I am writing this 6 hours later. Finally for desert we chose a knaffa (another delicacy only of this restaurant ) with burnt pudding (another specialty) and baklava. These deserts just melted in my mouth. I can not wait to go there again even though i have to drive an hour and a half to get there.

It's really hard to impress me :) I usually never think of going back to any restaurant unless and until it is exceptionally good . Being in Chicago , you always look out for a new place . There are always hundreds of places you still haven't tried But few places always are special . Troy is definetly one of them . From the point of taking reservations to bringing the check , the whole experience was fantastic. Bread was warm and delicious . Staff was attentive . Baklava was outstanding :) chicken and lamb skewers were perfect .meat was tender and perfectly spiced .. Icing on the cake .. It's byob . And there is a store right opposite to the restaurant . I am already planning my next visit soon :):)

I read one review that said this is not Turkish food. Fine, but it is excellent middle eastern food. By far superior to any other middle eastern restaurant that I have been too. From the bread placed on the table at the beginning of the meal, to the end, it was fabulous. We had Falafel appetizers, very fresh, and delicious. For dinner I had Iskender Adana which was very tasty. I'm not sure what my partner ordered but it also was good (I took a taste). In addition to the food, the service was great. Very friendly and efficient.

We ate at Troys this past week, and were not overly impressed. The kebabs were pretty good, however the hummus was not that great (heavy cumin, and kind of watery). BYOPB - If you order any of the dips (hummus, etc.), be prepared to eat an entire loaf of bread. They do not serve or have pita bread, so you have to use the bread they serve as a starter to enjoy the dips...or you can spoon it up and it eat it like soup...

I love, love, love this restaurant. The food is good. The service is great. It's BYOB. And now I'm totally in love with the owner--we were out late, stopped in for dinner, stayed a lot longer than imaged and he was nice enough to escort us (with a baby in tow--don't judge :)) back to our cars. Talk about going over and beyond for your customers! A little kindness always goes a long way, and this really made our day. This was my second time dining here and it def won't be my last.

This restaurant might be some elaborate prank. These are all fake reviews on here, who would create an account just to write one good review? On the other hand I specifically created this account because my experience here was so god awful, I would rather eat Hungry Man TV dinners for the rest of my life then go here again. We arrived promptly at 7:30 having and put our order in at 8:00, at 9:45 our entrees has still not arrived and the restaurant had been turned over twice. We asked the hostess when our food would be ready and why it took so long and she tried to convince us that we in fact had not been there for two hours and we had no idea what we were talking about. After a heated argument we were hastily served 8 identical plates even though we had ordered different meals. After this we decided to simply walk out, conceded defeat, the mighty Troy had successfully tricked us into wasting two hours of time in their establishment. It was almost like a dream, we honestly though we were on MTV's boiling points and Wilder Valderama was going to pop out at any second and award us our hard earned money. This place sets a new standard for low in Chicago, at least other bad restaurants actually serve me food, this place did not. Horrible Horrible Horrible never go here.

This is my first Yelp review ever as I needed to say how delicious the food was! Everything we tasted was fresh & fantastic from the bread on the table (smells good too..) to the white bean salad, tabbouleh and the chicken kebobs. I will definitely be returning with friends and hope to try everything on the menu.

Have been here several times with a girlfriend and also with my sweetie and have always enjoyed the food and the service. Their lentil appetizer that they bring you is amazing and is offered for free -- it is so good, I went ahead and ordered a larger dish, gladly paying a few dollars for such great food. Go with someone whose company you enjoy with a leisurely bottle of BYOB!

We live right across the street, and were a bit leery of this place, but it couldn't have been better! The food was delectable, cheap (for the neighborhood), and BYOB with no corkage! They don't play it up, but it's actually a Turkish restaurant, which for me was a selling point; I've had Lebanese and other general "Mediterranean" food before, but this was slightly different. The appetizers were great, and the food was delicious. Definitely check out Troy, the food is really worth it.

Everything about this place is great. Great food, great wait service, great music, great prices and it's BYOB. I really enjoyed the: Filet Mignon sish kebab Troy Pizza appetizer Average dishes: Falafel Sliced Tomatoes and Mozzarella Will it blow you away? Probably not but you will have a worthwhile meal here. I'll be coming back frequently.

I ate myself stupid here. Seriously--I tried to stop eating but I couldn't. ANd I just kept ordering more--that's how good it was. AMAZING food, inexpensive, great atmosphere, super friendly owner, and BYOB. It doesn't get better than this. Lakeview is in desperate need of more restaurants like Troy. The food was insanely fresh, and I couldn't believe the prices given the portions. Everything including the bread is all handmade and as good as it gets. I don't normally seek out Turkish restaurants as usually my default "go-to" restaurants usually some sort of asian, but man am I glad I gave this a shot. The haydari appetizer is very light and goes great with the bread. I then shared a combo platter of kebabs that were all very flavorful, and we also had a beyti kebab. GET THIS. The beyti kebab has this great lamb filling, but it is wrapped in a very thin fresh dough type rap with a sauce on top. It almost looks like turkish sushi the way it is cut and prepared. So good. For dessert, you simply must, must, MUST get the kanafeh. Picture two thin layers of a crispy, crunchy pastry noodle pancake with mozzarella in between that is then baked with a syrup poured on top and pomegranate seeds as garnish. I have eaten a lot of very unique tasting food in my life, but I have NEVER had anything like this. Ever. I don't care how much you eat or how you "aren't really a dessert person." If you come here and don't order this you have just missed out on an amazing life experience. So that was the food. The service was great, and it truly has that "mom and pop" local feel. There really aren't a lot of places like this any more, and it is a real shame. Everyone was so warm, and when it was the birthday of someone there, the owner turned off the lights, and put on birthday music while the dessert came out with a candle in it while everyone sang. I'll be going back and bringing anyone I can. Do yourself a favor and go here before it gets more press and becomes impossible to get a seat at.

Remarkable! Superb, nutritious, delicious foods. Plenty of vegetarian and also gluten totally free possibilities! Great assistance plus a wonderful chef/owner that arrived on the scene to confirm people too. Even enjoyed Pleased Wedding once they determined there were any birthday young lady with us. Everything has been fantastic. Don't skip that position.

My boyfriend and I have walked by this place a dozen times and have never noticed it until my son picked up one of their menu's (good taste runs in the family apparently :)). From the first time we went here I was incredibly impressed. The food is good and authentic. The ambiance is pretty romantic, especially if you ask for the table at the window & bring a bottle of wine (it's BYOB). The place is pretty small and if you don't want to wait for 30-60min, a reservation is absolutely necessary. The service is excellent and for the most part you see the same people serving & taking orders (all very friendly). A few of my favorite items of the menu are hummus for appetizer and this eggplant-lamb dish (don't remember the name but it's the only eggplant-lamb dish on the menu!). Their house marinated kabobs are amazing as well!! I will definitely come back to this place again and again and it is on my permanent favorites list.

Ate here last night with a friend on a Tuesday and had a very nice time. The restaurant was small and quiet. The server was very attentive. We ordered the cold sampler platter which was quite yummy. We shared the beef/lamb and chicken kebobs. You get plenty of food, and the meat was tasty and well-seasoned. Overall a nice place for the price and worth a visit.

Great BYOB place with awesome food. I went here with a group but it would also be a good date spot. There were a few groups there for birthdays who were serenaded by the staff and brought desserts. The restaurant is pretty small, and warm and inviting. I like the exposed brick and was surprised to learn they only opened in May since they seem well-established. We had the hummus to start, which was awesome, then I had the lamb skewers which IMO was the best thing out of the group. They were so good! Served on rice with a side salad and plenty of food for leftovers. The servers are very helpful in making sure your drinks are always opened. I would definitely come back here!

What a great find! This is a wonderful place where the food is delightful (as my elderly father termed it) and the decor was welcoming. I would recommend it to those wanting to try Mediterranean cuisine for the first time as well as those with a seasoned palate. Chef Apo stopped by our table to meet and check if we liked the food - a nice personal touch that seems more and more rare. Worth visiting!

I live across the street from Troy and it is one of my favorite places in Chicago. There Lahmacun (Troy pizza) is one of the best I have ever had. My family has a favorite restaurant that we always go to in NYC called Turkish Kitchen, the lahmacun at Troy was better. My mom came to town and was blown. I love this place. Go if you have the chance!

I know what you are saying to yourself: "How can the first 3 reviews of a brand new business all be 5 star reviews? These people must work there" While I cannot speak for the other 2 reviewers ahead of me, I do not work there - but my 5 star review is sincerely written! I have a fancy for authentic, Mediterranean food, local establishments, and excellent food. Troy Mediterranean Grill fits the bill! I am very excited that it is in the neighborhood, as I see myself picking up dinners here often. The food was wonderfully seasoned, and the portion sizes were spot on. I sampled the cold eggplant appetizer, and it was delicious. The lentil soup was nicely flavored, and very light. The shepard's salad was yummy as well, with just the right amount of flavors, olive oil, and proportions of tomato, cucumber, onion, and I think parsley. The Troy Pizza was superb - think thin pizza with ground lamb. Top it off with their homemade tzaziki sauce and you have a winner!! The lamb kabobs were excellent, and I recommend 1 kabob per person. And finally, after all of that food, I still had room for their homemade rice pudding dessert - soooo good!! Bottom line - Troy Mediterranean Grill has fresh, homemade food that is sure to win you over. Check them out!! Bring your favorite bottle, as they are BYOB.

Came here in June to celebrate the boyfriend's birthday. Great food and pleasant service. We got the Mediterranean Sampler Platter to share -- perfect for splitting between 2-4 people. I loved the baba ghannouj. We also split Apo's Shrimp Special and were stuffed by the end of it. It was delicious, but I'm a chicken or beef type of person in general, so I'll probably get a meat next time.

My husband and I have been here MANY times, bringing our families several times, and we will come back again and again. The first time we came we couldn't believe how delicious everything was. First- it's BYOB. Bring your friends and a couple bottles of wine - no corkage fee! 2nd- the service is fantastic. They treat you like family here. 3rd- warm bread and a little appetizer for the table as soon as you sit down. 4th- every meal we've had here is amazing. 5th- we are vegetarians found found plenty of vegetarian options, and my parents who eat meat loved the kebabs here too. 6th- the homemade baklava. Yum, yum, yum!!! Can't wait for another visit!

Cozy spot that sits in a fun location. I was doing some shopping and decided to get a quick bite at a near by restaurant. I was in a rush and wanted something small and fast. I only ordered a chicken salad which was very good. The waiter decided to bring me a delicious appetizer that was magnificent. It's called the lentil asme. I would of kissed the chef for this dish... It's that's great. He then brought me fresh slices of watermelon and yes this was no charge since he figured my order was so boring. Next time I come here, and I definitely will be back, I'll take advantage of their menu and the BYOB. The service is great, the environment is warm yet energetic (really nice Mediterranean music in the background). Thank you for a lovely experience. I definitely recommend :-).

Went to Troy last night based on the Yelp reviews. They're not wrong, the food is quite delicious. We started with a complimentary serving of toasted bread and some sort of hummus, tomato, bulgar or couscous spread. Then they brought the garlic walnut yogurt spread. I would have been content with that but we did have entrees coming. He ordered the filet kabob and I had Helen's special. The kabob comes with this really flavorful rice and fresh, tangy salad. The kabob was nicely grilled and tender. Helen's special is a mix of sautéed spinach, mushrooms and their potato red pepper salad with melted cheese on top. It was hearty and I can see it being a favorite mid winter. Service was a little slow and our waiter felt bad about it. He brought us complimentary baklava which was to die for. Really, for the baklava alone, this place is worth checking out. That and a hot tea...mmmm... So please check this place out and support your local business. It's good food, freshly prepared, served with sincerity and kindness at reasonable prices.

Exquisite cuisine and excellent service. The best hummus in town, chicken that melts in your mouth, abundant homemade bread, hadari so creamy and fresh. Your tastebuds will have a party. Hats off to Apo who put in backbreaking work and long hours to create a true gem in the city.

Very good food! The Apo's Shrimp special was outta this world good. Hot bread was awesome too. Good staff. I'd have to say I am still partial to Casbah Cafe down the street however for Mediterranean in the area but Troy is a welcome addition. No charge BYOB js also a plus!

Wonderful neighborhood restaurant, fresh food, consistently good. It can be hard to hear some of the servers, and sometimes the music's pretty loud, but their lamb kabobs are wonderful, the dolmas are the closest to my grandmother's that I've found in Chicago. A great regular standby.

My boyfriend and I live in the neighborhood and love this restaurant for both dining in and carry out. It has also become both of our parent's favorite restaurant when they come to visit. It is BYOB and we have always received amazing service from the wait staff. Every dish is very flavorful and you can tell that the owner/chef takes great pride in what he prepares for his guests. Some of our favorites include the Mediteranian Sampler Platter and Mucver (zucchini pancakes) for appetizer and any Kebab dish with the Wheat Bulgur for dinner. Recently, we decided to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday here with a group of friends. There were 14 of us and the restaurant was extremely accommodating to a large party. The table looked beautiful when we arrived because they took the time and care of putting out a few vases of fresh flowers. With large groups it is encouraged to do family style ordering, which worked out wonderfully because everyone got a variety of things to try, everything came out in courses, and splitting the bill was easy. Our meal included 3 types of appetizers, salad and bread, 3 types of Kebabs, a side dish, and a birthday dessert. Everything was delicious, no one went home hungry, and it was incredibly reasonably priced. I should also mention that they did a birthday surprise for my boyfriend, which was totally unexpected and really made the evening that much more memorable. However, I don't want to say what it was because I don't want to ruin the surprise for any future parties. I would highly recommend this restaurant under any circumstance, but I will also say that it was a wonderful experience for a large group event and will definitely be repeated.

I heard from a friend that there is a new Turkish restaurant in the town and wanted to try it out since it is hard to find a good Turkish restaurant in Chicago. I was skeptical when we arrived. We were the only one in the restaurant. After food arrived my skepticism disappears. Food came quick. Appetizer was delicious. Lahmacun was nice and the sis kabob was well seasoned and cooked. I definitely recommend it.

I came here for a friend's birthday, after being burned by another place being closed (for a Monday, which is reasonable - wish I'd checked before going downtown, though). So: I was cranky when I walked in the door, and cranky when I took some bread and ate the appetizer. After that, well, I stopped being cranky pretty quickly. Our waiter, BJ, was attentive and fun. He immediately brought out a bucket for our wine (the place was BYOB, as all great Chicago restaurants are) and poured us each a glass. We got the Troy pizza for our appetizer, a great 4-slice, thin pizza that was made even better with a bit of lemon juice squeezed over it. From there, I ordered baba ghanoush with lamb. The lamb was cooked perfectly, and the entire dish was amazingly seasoned and so delicious I was honestly sad there wasn't more, even though I was too full to eat much more. BJ suggested a dessert as well, the kanafeh. I was so full I only ate a bite, but WOW. I would not think cheese pastry could possibly be as good as this was. My advice is, let the wait staff suggest things, because they do not disappoint. Overall - attentive service, and food so delicious I was sorry to finish it. Additionally, there were clean bathrooms, inexpensive pricing, and no overlong wait time. This place is the kind of gem people in novels somehow magically know about and go to. I encourage anyone looking for good Mediterranean food to hit this place up. You will not be disappointed. To anyone wondering about the Yelp reviews - they do encourage people to post on Yelp. I'm doing this kind of sloshed at almost 10 at night because the food was so good that I'm willing to give 20 minutes to encouraging other people to go there.

Great service and food. They started out with a complimentary sampling of lentil ezme and bread. A nice light start to the meal. Between the three of us we had stuffed mushrooms, 2 Adana kebabs on a bed of babaganouj, and a fried eggplant in yogurt sauce. The mushrooms were very filling for an appetizer with just the right melt of cheese on the tops. Overall, great authentic food at reasonable prices. Next time we will be back for a tapas style meal to eat through their extensive appetizer menu.

Great service, Great food, Great friends..... and BYOB! Doesn't get better than that. The food was all nicely displayed, tasted great and reasonably priced. I love this spot. BYOB. Attentive servers. Reasonable prices. What else could you want in Lakeview?? If you're hungry and want a great meal at a price-point that won't break the bank definitely check it out. From what I recall, atmosphere was also enjoyable and food was incredibly fresh.

Yum! Came here with 5 friends on Saturday night. I live near here and Turkish BYOB was a definite must try! I'm from Australia as were half of my group where we have plenty of great Turkish food and Troy definitely measured up! The sample platter for an appetizer is delicious! We got lamb, chicken, pide and tabbouleh which were all amazing and delicious. I'm coming back for sure! Great Turkish Food + BYOB = Bi-winning. Awse.

Pretty big fan of this place which we stumbled upon because Cluck was closed across the street (which i am grateful for because otherwise i would have missed out on this gem). Great food, reasonable prices, and a BYOB policy. We split the Cacik, Shepherd's Salad, Troy Pizza, Troy Combo platter, Beef Kavurma, finishing with the Baklava. We'd definately go back.

I went here a few weeks back with my BYOB club and was very impressed. They have a great selection of Chicken & Shrimp dishes, service was excellent, and price was very reasonable for the food quality. The food took a little while (though it was worth it) and the menu is a little limited. The restaurant is small and cozy and would make a great spot for an affordable date. Overall, this is an excellent BYOB option and I will be back at some point.

Really good food. Very tight squeeze for my wife and I. It seems like more of a setting for a nice quiet dinner except when we went there was a big group of people there really loud. Service was definitely great, constantly kept refilling my drink, did not even have to ask. I would not mind trying it again, but more likely for take out.

We were hungry, and went inside 40 min before they closed. The waitress was so nice and the food was served quickly! We had a lentil appetizer and hummus, which tasted so fresh! Our waitress kept bringing up fresh bread, even though we kept insisting she didn't have to, because we were getting so full on delicious lentils and hummus before our entree got to the table. We split a lamb filet kabob served over rice with a small side salad. The dressing they used was so light and had so much flavor, I would've ordered a HUGE bowl if I could've! The meat was so tender and seasoned just right, not salty or burnt AT ALL! I will definitely return to this place and probably bring my guests here as well! We loved it!

Everything we ate was a 10 - from the combination plate appetizer to the kifteh dishes, shrimp sauté, grille vegetables, spinach dish, the bread, the coffee, the tea with cardamom, the DESSERTS! This is my favorite kind of restaurant - small, authentic, independently-owned. And they speak Turkish and Spanish!

A very nice addition to the community. I found their service a bit slow (understandable for being there on a full night) and their food outstanding and delicious. This is a small, intimate restaurant specializing in Mediterranean cuisine, of course. The selection is nice. If the restaurant is busy with every table taken, it may take as long as 30 minutes or so to get your food served. However, once the food comes, you forget the wait and enjoy sumptuous cuisine. I had one of the sautes and it was just wonderful. Others at my table hjad similar and all commented how good their food was. The bread they bring you to munch on is great, too. note that if you want Olive Oil, you need to ask, but I think that will make the bread even more memorable. In short, this place is a great find and worth going to. Long may it be around.

Disclaimer: I only had their lentil soup because I had dinner prior. This is based on everyone else's reviews plus their AMAZING service. I had joined a friend's birthday dinner after a long day of work and evening classes. It was a little after 9:30 and they had just placed their orders. The restaurant closes at 10pm and we were a party of 12 or so. But our waitress, Michelle, was such a sweetheart. She explained to me the menu and was very generous with the free focaccia bread and what seemed to be this couscous salsa. Everyone ordered some type of kebab and every plate was cleaned out. Everyone raved about their dish - one of my friends said it was the best chicken he had ever tasted. My lentil soup was also very good; I cannot wait to try a main dish soon. And the prices seemed reasonable considering the ambience. BYOB, enough said. It must have been 10:30pm when they dimmed the lights, lighted our friend's cake, and played a Marilyn-Monroe-esque (but not quite) birthday song throughout the restaurant. HILARIOUS and very much appreciated. Then they played upbeat Mediterranean. Never once did they rush us out, even when we opened up more wine bottles. AND they even gave us separate checks with no complaints. My goodness, they were great. I could not thank this restaurant enough for giving my friends an awesome birthday celebration. This is a wonderful place for big groups and for a quaint first date. It is very intimate and great ambience. Again, also BYOB.

We stumbled upon this place after leaving Fullerton Beach near Lincoln Park. We found parking literally 2-3 doors down from the spot. Everything was going well -- even the meal -- until the sour sewage smell overtook the restaurant during a lunch hour lull. Oh my, this was not a good look. We were enjoying the platter of lamb, beef and chicken kebabs with the rice. Then the smell pounced and ruined it! The one positive was that we were nearly done with our meal. Let's rewind: At 2:30 p.m. we were the only customers, so the food came in a hurry. It was piping hot and delicious - well-seasoned meats and flavorful sauces on the rice. I don't typically like lamb, but tried the ground lamb kebab, and it was tasty and almost free of that unmistakable lamb after taste. When it was time to pay for our meal, that is when the server mentions to us that the card machine is down, so we wouldn't be able to pay with a card. Great. So we come back from getting cash, then he says he doesn't have change, he has to run next door. Ok, that's just a tad unprofessional. Will I be back? Not likely. If you do go, it's BYOB!

Absolutely delicious! My husband and I went to Troy Mediterranean Grill to entertain a friend based only on other friend reviews and we were not let down! We had wonderful service; our waitress was fantastic. Best hummus and kebabs we have ever had (and we love Mediterranean cuisine, so we have had a lot). They served incredible Turkish coffee as well. Everything we had was wonderfully fresh, light, and delicious. Prices were great as well; not very expensive! Definitely check this place out!

Amazing! Wonderful, healthy, delicious food. Lots of vegetarian and gluten free options! Great service and a delightful chef/owner who came out to check on us too. Even played Happy Birthday when they found out we had a birthday girl with us. Everything was superb. Don't miss this place.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. The food is pretty good and they offer stone entrees as a half order which was perfect if you are not looking for leftovers. The lentil dip for the bread was very good and a nice change from the usual. Byob which is cool. Small restaurant so reservations are not a bad idea.

The food was fresh and delicious, the waitstaff was friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I was looking for a casual BYOB to try with a friend and this one totally impressed me. I highly recommend Troy, and will be going back.

This place is one of my favorite Lincoln Park/Lakeview neighborhood restaurants. Last night was the second time that we had tried Troy. Our first experience there was wonderful as was last night. First of all, food doesn't get more fresh than this place. The Shepherd's salad comes with large pieces of feta and the small size is perfect for 2 people to share. The Turkish pizza is delicious although they were unfortunately out of it last night. So instead, we ordered the hummus which was some of the best hummus I've had in Chicago. Everything from the grilled meats down to the fresh bread that they put on the table is delicious. The small mom & pop atmosphere of this place takes you out of Chicago and transports you to a restaurant you might stumble upon walking the streets of Europe or the Middle East. The BYOB is perfect. I don't think you could go wrong ordering anything from the menu. Highly recommended!

We had the pizza, calamari, filet kabobs and baklava. All were great. Flavorful and well prepared. Loved the rice. Highly recommend the Turkish coffee too.

I am another of those who initially reviewed Yelp and was suspicious as to the rating of this restaurant. Well, my wife and I ate there last night and the 5-Star rating is well deserved. Also...the prices are reasonable...an added benefit. My wife and I eat Mediterranean at least 3x/month...and this by far the best place we have tried in the city to this point. The food is very fresh...and everything was delicious. We will definitely go back and I highly recommend this place.

I just had to write a review - I walk past this place almost everyday and since it replaced Kabob Inn, I was thinking of giving it a try. I looked it up on Yelp and just like another reviewer noted, there are several 5 star reviews from obvious friends & family. Anyway, its BYOB so that helped to give us a push to try it out. We had very good service and they were very accommodating to my gluten-free request (instead of pilaf or bulgur they provided a great assortment of grilled vegetables at no extra charge). The food was very good also - we split the shepherds salad which had a little too much parsley for our taste but was good and fresh. The chicken kabobs were very well seasoned and tasted great. We'll definitely be back - its good, simple & healthy food, cooked well. Reasonable prices and BYOB don't hurt.

Once again, one of the GREATEST restaurants in Chicago. It's one of our favorites. Troy is our go-to restaurant for Lincoln Park. The chicken kebab is incredible.

I tried Troy for the first time and greatly enjoyed my experience. I ordered Vegetarian Saute and my boyfriend got the Lamb Kebab. Both were delicious, especially the vegetarian. The staff is very friendly and welcoming too!

Amazing meal. Food was absolutely delicious, tastes completely homemade. The owner (Apo) came around to our table and was very humble... helping take care of the front of the house. Had the chicken saute plate with rice and the sauce was delicious. Also tried the dessert with cheese in syrup -- omg was it delicious. they start you with bread and a lentil dip that was also delicious. BYOB is certainly a plus and a wine/liquor store just across the corner. I will definitely be back! Thank you Apo!

This is a great little neighborhood place. We stumbled across this restaurant this weekend. We were all very happy w/ our meals. The food was tasty and nicely presented. The service was friendly (a little slow) and the atmosphere inviting. I had the lamb sis which was tasty (the lamb was very tender with just the right amount of char) and just the right size portion. Being a BYOB was also a plus. I'll be back.

A lovely place with amazing fresh food, huge portions, attentive service and a chance to chat with the chef/owner. We were able to enjoy easy conversation without battling restaurant noise or intrusive music, in fact, we actually liked the music. Our selections, two sautés were hot, well seasoned and enormous. The dessert, warm cheese in a noodle coating accented with syrup and pommagrannate seeds was good enough to convert a chocolate lover like me. I'll be back soon!

I'm not a huge fan of Mediterranean food in general. This place though is really really good. My dad had the Filet Mignon kebab, I had the chicken, and my mom had the salmon. All of it was super tender, perfectly seasoned, and the salmon was perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. Another reviewer described it as "charming" which I completely agree with. It's a small restaurant and it got packed around dinner time (but not a super long wait). I would make a reservation though. I would give it 4.75 stars if possible (only because I wish the meat portions were larger), but overall, the best mediterranean I've had in a long time.

This place is awesome. Our server (can't remember her name but she said she works there on the side) was super friendly and it's BYOB. The food prices were reasonable and the food was good. The lamb pizza and hummus were very good. Only thing off was the rice that was way overdone, but I think it might have just been a one off kind of thing since they had just finished hosting a massive party.

This place is a great pleasant surprise. We love Turkish food, but have been disappointed on several occasions with Efes/Cousins, so were thrilled to see this place open up. The place is understated, not too fancy or formal, but don't be fooled by its modest looks. Troy has excellent, fresh, delicious food, with much variety on the menu. We combined fresh appetizers like salad and yoghurt based small plates with kabobs and other meat based creations. Personalized attention from wait staff and chef was terrific, and BYOB complete the "package." We'll be back soon, and hope this place thrives, so happy to have it in the neighborhood.

Just ate here for the first time last night. Delicious fresh food! Nice quiet, intimate setting. Great place to visit with a small group of friends. The menu is clearly marked with lots of gluten free and vegetarian food. Super friendly chef. Definitely worth returning to!

This is an amazing find. Everything about Troy makes it worthy of five stars. It is my very favorite go to place for dinner. Been there many times and the food is consistently fresh and the best Mediterranean food around. The owner chef, the staff and atmosphere make this a neighborhood gem. The kebabs are outstanding, I have had every appetizer and they are all excellent. Try anything on the menu and you will not be disappointed.

I've passed by this new place a few times, and have been meaning to try it. At first, I was skeptical because there was only one other couple inside when we walked in on a Sunday evening. Menu looked good - we ordered, and the hummus was delish! But then, I became skeptical again because we were waiting over 30 minutes and no signs of our main dishes. A few more people came into the restaurant, but it was by no means crowded. You can see the lone chef in back cooking - and it's all fresh, made to order. That being said, we waited quite awhile for our food. food was fabulous - we got the kebab and salmon, and both were excellent! Overall really great, fresh food. However, when this place gets busier, I don't know how they will keep up with the demand/orders. Get in now when it's not so busy to check it out, or order take out!

One of the best new restaurants I have tried in a long time! We went with a group of 7 and had a wonderful experience. From the appetizers to the great desserts everything was fresh and delicious. The quaint storefront reminds me of a European bistro, very romantic and the wait staff is excellent! I will highly recommend this to my friends! Our bill was so reasonable and we had a great night out..

I loved this place and it is a great addition to the area. The service was very friendly and efficient (unlike Casbah up the street). The food was very tasty. The prices are extremely reasonable. And it is BYOB! What is there not to like? If I lived closer, I would be here at least once a week.

This is a delicious addition to the Broadway neighborhood. The Troy lamb pizza is savory, with an amazingly thin crisp crust. Other appetizers go beyond the boundaries of the typical Mediterranean restaurant, with spices and textures that make you eat more than you meant to. The bread is especially wonderful.

For the type and sort of restaurant Troy is, I'm giving it five stars. It's all about context;it's not haute cuisine but it is an artful Mediterranean Grill serving tasty and moderately priced dishes. The Shepherd's Salad is fantastic: fresh, fresh, fresh and wonderfully seasoned. And the grilled skewered ground lamb on a bed of spicy tomato sauce was very good too. The wait staff is professional and friendly. Definitely worth trying and a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Food was average- definitely not authentic Turkish. I've had Turkish several times and while the food was okay, it definitely didn't stand out. Turkish food is all about spice and flavor and the meals here lacked that unfortunately. The service was also REALLY slow. It wasn't even that crowded and it took over 45 minutes to get our entrees. The dessert- the kanefa- is absolutely excellent so I'd consider coming back for that- but definitely not dinner. It also took over half an hr for the kanefa to come and by then I had already finished the tea I ordered...this restaurant is poorly managed- REALLY slow service, lack of employees, and just ok tasting food.

I very much enjoyed the food, but the service was ok... server forgot to put in one of our appetizers orders and my boyfriend practically had to go to our server to ask for a water re-fill. I would still check this place out one more time since the food was delicious, but the service definitely needs to be improved.

I haven't been this pleased with dinner since a charming little restaurant on IBIZA's coast. I've been here twice and both times had amazing food. The first time was with a group of friends for a birthday. Excellent service and everyone raved about how good the food was. Was there again last night and sure enough the food was excellent. If you're looking for great food, great price and good atmosphere this is it. Will be seeing this place again soon.
