Nice clean sports bar! Its pretty nice inside. Theres alot of seating especially for big groups. The patio is great for summer, or whenever its nice outside. I think they can have more TVs, like along the middle of the place. I haven't been here at night wonder what the vibe is. But the food is pretty solid, great staff. Deff a nice piece in the division street bars and restaurants.

A boundary should be placed in front of the door here. The only factor that scrounged up another mangey scar for this place is the food volume and the service (that is if you managed to ever grab anyone) The hostess "didn't want to seat a big party" outside because we'd "take up too many tables". Faulty logic with a reservation for 8 people when you have about a dozen four-tops outside. Service was SLOW. Not any fault of the serve; the place was clearly understaffed. The servers were moving quickly, trying to get to everyone but you had to grab them to place any order/get a check/cash out. The entire process was VERY slow. Luckily, a couple of us did the overpriced Bloody Mary bar and we're able to make a makeshift cheese plate out of the drink add ons. I think my food was good but I was so hungry by the time my plate hit the table I would have eaten anything that was edible. It's overpriced, understaffed and offers mediocre food options. In a city that's as food-proud as Chicago, you can find something better... Probably any of the places on the block, actually.

Very disappointed that we picked this bar for cinco DE mayo. We wanted tequila we wanted caronitas and they wouldn't honor their special even though it was only fing 7:30 because they ran out...yes they ran out on the main Ingredients for cinco de mayo at 7:30. The manager wouldn't do anything to fix the fact that their unpacked unprepared bar was out so early knowing we only came there for the specials for cinco. Especially when every bar, ie. Anthem fatpour and easy bar have specials and would gladly fix their problem. Lame Piss poor skinny guy manager really doesn't care. Just walk pass by it....

I love this place. I drive forty minutes a couple times a month to go here. But this time it was bad. I was so excited to go here and drink the night away. Unfortanetly I had an awful server. I sat there for 15 minutes with my drink empty. It was pushed to.the edge far away from me so it was obvious that i was finished with it. It felt like eternity went by befoe she came. Then another year to get them which i dont blame her for. Love the wings. Live the fries mac and cheese. Love the trivia. Whatevs. I've never had such poor service here before. Hope to get someone else next time. By the way it is kinda weird to not have.l locks on the bathroom.stalls.

I made reservations for a birthday party, thinking it would be nice to just be low-key: sit outside with the dog, eat dinner, and have a drink or two. The drink selection was good and the appetizer -- Mac-n-cheese bits -- were good, the dinner food was just ok. Nothing special. The patio was fine, but I've been to patios that are just as nice...some who even bring out a water bowl for the dog. The one thing that really irked me, though, was that we had made reservations with instructions about the birthday and no one ever even mentioned the birthday. Even at Applebee's they give the person a brownie or something. I was disappointed, plus the food wasn't anything to remember this place by. I won't be back.

Great place/space to watch an NFL game. The funny videos during the commercial breaks makes this place unique. Good service. Good ambience. Good beer selection. Average food

Not as hipster of a bar as I was picturing for Division in Wicker Park! I went in late on a Saturday night, but I got more of a restaurant vibe than a bar feeling. There were alot of empty tables, mostly for big groups, while everyone crowded around the bar. But that makes sense as they seem to have a lot of reviews about good food and 'game' atmosphere. All in all, it was a fun time -- would recommend if in the area :)

Big bar, great tv's to watch the game, gets CROWDED on Saturdays.... Typical bar, nothing special though. Decent bar food from the flatbread, tater tots, and veggie panini.

This review reflects the food and drink offerings, not the (awesome) patio space. The Boundary is a chill neighborhood bar that's setup for sports watching. There are several HD flat screen TV's and the seating is geared toward that. The food here isn't horrible, not hardly life-changing. Most of the offerings fall into what I consider 'standard bar food': fries, nachos, fried appetizers... I have yet to try the burgers here - if they are good I will revise this review and add a star

I have been here several times for brunch and I have to say that I really like how they cater to families. I've never really considered this place a sports bar because I've always come for brunch and never during a game night although they have an ample amount of large screen tv's. So I am definitely used to seeing kids in high chairs. The food is pretty good although at times the service can be a little slow, but with a group of friends that have kids it is great place to meet up. It also doesn't hurt that they have a mimosa and bloody Mary bar. It's hard to find a place where people feel comfortable meeting up with their friends with little ones in tow, have a drink and decent grub so I'll take it where I can get it.

Now this place has a reputation for Bros and Trixies and it is true, they are here in throngs (not thongs- but who knows) for the Big 10 and other sports on all the TV sets. Now, since I myself am a grad of two Big 10 schools I have to say that The Boundary is my go-to place for viewing things like the Rose Bowl which I saw here in 2011. Ok, so lots of TVs and great for viewing sports! Check. I have had food here as well, and I am a huge fan of the mac and cheese with a burger. They have a burger with an egg on it that I think is amazing and I have had this and a wrap which I liked a lot. The gigantic nachos are also worth taking a stab at but these are really for two or three people (as a freaking meal) or for a large group as an app. Overall, the staff are friendly and fast and for the most part reflect the go team spirit of the place. They don't have a lot of drink specials in the evening which one friend pointed out, but they have a good selection of beers on tap and in bottles to satisfy even the beer snob in your group. We were joking about the DJ-own the ads thing that goes on here where a DJ plays songs or ads in the gaps created by the TV broadcast ads, and that when he put on songs with a thumping base the very pretty Trixie tables all started grooving to the bass beat. So, if you want to get the party started, well, pump up the bass. This is an A-OK bar in a hood with so many hip and cool places and where many of the dive bars are too full and have no TVs for sports - so if you are a hipster and want to sneak out to see the Big 10 games (because face it, you also went to a Big 10 school), this is the place to go. So, as others have pointed out the choadbox elements of not-born-blonde girls and douche dudes are on display here, but everyone was chill despite the "I've got muscles" guys, and the "you want me" babes. And, you know you really do want them! No, really, you do. We had fun, had great service, yummy food, and this old converted carriage house with its high ceilings was a good place for game watching. Our server Ashley was super friendly.

Great outdoor seating. Good beer selection. I had the special- a spicy chicken burger- very good. Right amount of the spicy sauce- chicken burger was cooked well and juicy. The tarot tots were crispy. My husband had the sunny side up burger which was cooked well and a lot of meat. I didn't enjoy the flavors as much as my chicken burger but it was good and I would go back to try one of their other burgers. Classic chicago bar with solid food!

Pretty good food, I've never had an issue with service so it's perfect if you want dinner or just drinks. I especially love when it's summer and they open up the front or you can sit on the patio. Definitely one of the top bars on Divison St. I watched the hawks win their last Stanley Cup here so it will always hold a special place in my heart!

  • Juliana R.

Food here was actually pretty good, bummer how BAD the service was...... Our server Karla started off pretty good, towards the end she was slurring it up after getting wasty with the next table over, I mean it was like 3 o clock! I typically wouldn't even care but we waited forever for simple things like napkins & silverware! After our beers kept being sent over warm I was so over it!!

We came, we ate, we left happy. Thursday afternoon visit so not the bar crowd, some families and business lunches taking place. Service was good I tried a cider beer that I didn't like and the server happily replaced it with a different beer for free.

I've been to the Boundary on several occasions and I have yet to be disappointed. Lunch or dinner, weekday or weekend, the Boundary is always a good time. They have quality food and quality service. The Boundary is an official Blackhawks bar with plenty of televisions on the east and west sides of the building. The bar is located on the right with table seating as well as booth seating on the left. It may be difficult to view televisions from the booth as I have seen some people stand up for a better angle. The Boundary is conducive to large parties or small get together. They have shuffleboard in the back as well as a few other bar games. The Boundary is a nice place to grab some dinner on a Friday or Saturday night before you plan on going out and kicking it with your brohas or your betches.

We met some friends here for a bite to eat on a Sunday afternoon. We started with the spinach artichoke appetizer, I had the buffalo chicken wrap with a side salad, my companion had the Philly cheesesteak (I couldn't bring myself to order a Philly in Chicago) and fries. Unfortunately we both drank water, so I couldn't tell you anything about the extensive selection of drafts and ales they have available on their six-page beer menu. Regardless, my buffalo chicken had the perfect heat and was stuffed with a menagerie of vegetables, meat, and sauce for delicious content aplenty. Every bite just had great flavor. I even took half of it with me and ate it later, and it was just as good without the need to reheat. In all, it was sports bar food the way sports bar food should be served. If I had a complaint, it would be that they had five screens showing baseball and none with the preseason football game, but the third-stringers were in by the time we got there anyway.

Are there for brunch Sunday and got the chopped salad and the omelette. Omelette was small which was odd to the table of 7 ladies. Chopped salad was good but not much chicken. We got plastic water cups while we sat outside. Nice server though! Good spot for bar, sports watching, tv's and shuffle board

Comments from brunch: had eggs Benedict and they used steak. Waited about 20 min for very straightforward meal, it wasn't that busy (although they were running around) Meal seemed very average, steak was done ok, fries had no flavoring, seemed just bought and fried. I was charged 2 dollars extra for substitution, steak instead of sausage just wish this was mentioned. Meh

We were looking for a place for lunch today and believe it or not it is hard to find a good lunch spot in this area. Most places don't even open until 5-6pm. Finally found The Boundary and we lucked out and found a good spot to park right out front with no parking meters so that was nice! The restaurant was not busy at all which could be expected at 1pm on a Monday. We were happy to find a nice booth by the bar and had great service. The waitress and bartenders were awesome. Another great thing about the service is that they have one of the chefs (I'm assuming he was a chef, judging by the white jAcket) bring out your food! The menu was super easy to read with not an overwhelming amount of options. So many of burgers and wraps sounded good I wasn't sure what to order. I did end up getting the chicken wrap. It was great!! But next time I would like to try the scrambled egg burger. Boyfriend got a burger, he said it was okay (looked good to me tho). The prices were a bit high but normal for the area. They have a bunch of beers on tap and in the coolers and a nice bar to sit at. I can't wait to come back and try a burger and some beers. Oh yeah, And the cheese curds are AMAZING.....definitely not a Wisconsin cheese curd but I actually liked the soft, crispy-ness of these curds better.

Great place if you'd like to sit outside on a patio! The little Havana sandwich was delicious! The service was great as well. The crowd is very diverse (pet friendly on patio, families with babies/toddlers, couples, girls' lunch, etc) and creates an experience that is relaxing and cool. They have a lot of specials and a good variety of food! Will definitely come back. All the food coming out of the kitchen looked Delish!

Just finished another two day, March madness watching marathon at the Boundary and, AGAIN, I do bring a bias, but I dare you to go here to watch the NCAA tournament games and NOT have a good time. Beer selection is insane. Not as extensive as their sister property Howells ... but plenty of options for your palate; whether you're a hop head, a stout lover, looking for something local, or looking for something you've never had before. Full bar, with some great top-shelf liquors, and a recently;y refreshed menu. The chicken tenders are more like four chicken breasts ... the menu special french sub is a very well made, very tasty Italian sub kicked up a notch. Some at our table even had the soup and a Cowgirl Salad which had shredded chicken and was very good. Very attentive service, particularly the bussing of tables, this is absolutely the perfect place to watch NCAA games.

The food here is just not good. My chicken sandwich had the most tiny, skimpy piece of chicken I've ever seen. The location is great with a lively nice patio in the summer, but I will definitely never order food from here ever again. Drinks and service are sub-par too.

I just had the best steak and eggs I've ever had in my life! The steak tasted like surf and turf all wrapped up in one beautiful hunk of beef. I'm blown away that what I just ate was at a sports bar. Amazing!

They upgraded their menu and it looks great! I have been here several times and I really like this place. Perfect mix of scene/crowd. And the food is really good! Burgers are great, along with the salads. I really like the Cowgirl salad, tons of flavor! And big! The Boundary burger is also huge and delicious! My suggestion is to have two people order a salad and burger and split. Normally I don't do that, but for some reason, it fits here. The drink selection is huge, everything you want. I forget the name, but they have a special that is Miller High Life, a shot of whiskey, AND TATER TOTS. Done, easy. My friends thought I was crazy for ordering that but then they all wanted my tots. COME ON NOW.

For some reason whenever I come to the Boundary it's either dead or packed. There doesn't seem to be much in between. It seems to be a place that people flock to for certain events, but not as a typical, daily go to bar. First off, it's huge inside. In a quaint, nice neighborhood I definitely prefer the small dive bar vibe, but that's just personal preference. Their menu is pretty big and has a bunch of different kinds of food. Everything I've had here has been good, but nothing I would crave at home. My dad, however, had the new shrimp po-boy on the new menu and he swears its the best thing he's ever had. Each time I've been there my service has been great, but just nothing sticks out to me. It seems to be a fine place, but maybe better options in the neighborhood.

I popped in with my husband to grab dinner and a drink. Food was good, atmosphere was fun, waitress was nice. Honestly, nothing earth shatteringly great, but we did enjoy our dinner! It was a super nice day out so we were happy to snag a table outside. Little did we know this spot came with free entertainment. The people watching here is just phenom. I'm talkin' all sorts of characters. Good times, good times. I ordered the turkey burger with a side of asparagus. I gotta say, I really appreciate it when a bar/restaurant gives you a healthier option than just fries! Don't get me wrong, I love a good french fry like the rest of us, but sometimes you just have to buckle down and go green. The turkey burger was super tasty and the veggies were fresh and delish. Needless to say, I cleaned my plate. My husband and I were strictly at The Boundary for a quick dinner, but it seems like an awesome place to catch a game. They have a ton of TVs and I love the open feel of the space. Next time we're in the neighborhood we'd definitely come back.

Truffle chicken salad, fantastic! And it never fails to amaze me how great tater tots are for a side item. They are so easy but tots always make for a great side item. We ordered two apps to start out, cheese curds, and spinach dips. Both were devoured by our group in less than five minutes. I like that the spinach dip was served with pita. Our server was super accommodating. Three of the five of people in my group had a few add-ons and changes to their food and the server was totally cool with it. They also have a great craft beer menu. And I love the music they play here. It's such a random mix of music with songs that come on and make you say things like I haven't heard this song in forever or I used to love this song. And the volume, at least around 8, was at a good level where you could hear it but also still hear the people you are with.

Zero stars!!!!There are no appropriate words to describe the service we had here last night. Let me set the scene for you...we're out to celebrate a friends birthday/graduation and got stuck with a wench of a waitress named Megan. She was too worried about flirting with some guy instead of serving us. It took her a little over 25mins to get us our drinks each time we ordered. So annoying. We're trying to make the best of this situation but after a while we decide to leave. We get our check and she comes back and says "you guys suck at tipping" which I respond excuse me to then a drink "accidentally" spills on me. Please keep in mind that we haven't even PAID yet. She comes back with 2 napkins and then proceeds to tell me to EFF off. Unreal. I exchange a few words with her then find a manager. He gives us his business card and a sorry, not sorry look. Meanwhile Megan is hiding in the back. Beyond disgusted by the service. We'll make sure to never come back. *****************************UPDATE****************************** So glad word got around to the general manager and she personally took care of the situation the next day.

Best bar food and atmosphere, hands down. Service can be a little slow on busy weekend days.. But it's always worth it. The chicken wrap is my heaven. My friends come from other neighborhoods, no matter how hungover they are to enjoy this wrap on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. The whole menu is great!

I am re-reviewing to give them an extra star after having visited during a VERY busy St. Patricks day Saturday night. We were a party of 11 and were immediately seated to a table. It was tight but it worked! It was crazy packed in there - loud music but really great service. Kudos to them for handling a very very busy night.

OVERPRICED.... craft beers beer are a few dollars more than other bars in the area. Food is expensive and nothing special. A lot better options to choose from on the block, and in the area. I will not be back.

A fun, clean-cut sports bar, with good service and Belgium brews! Large TV's scattered throughout that play sports/fights/etc. Great spot to watch something or grab a drink(s).

I have yet to come here on a weekend, but I really like this place during the week. The Boundary burger was cooked to specification and the tots were a nice touch. Both were delicious!! They have a wide variety of beers and bar service is great. I would highly recommend their trivia nights on Mondays or coming to play some shuffleboard.

The Boundary seems a different beast than the one I first encountered a few years back. I've been here twice: once when it first opened, and then again a few weeks ago. This particular visit's occasion was date night on a Saturday; cocktails, appetizers, easy exit if necessary. We arrived, were seated in the bar area, (a larger dining area of mostly booths is adjacent) and provided food and drink menus. At the time, lower-key music was playing and we were able to hear ourselves talk. The evening began on a sour note, as they were out of Templeton Rye for Sazeracs, which is my favorite drink and the reason I selected the place. I wanted something strong, so I opted for the Spicy Raz margarita, which wasn't great. It tasted as though it were made from a cheaply made cocktail pre-mix, and there was far too much salt involved. A Sidecar named 46 was also less than memorable, which caused me to cast my sights towards the beer menu. Food was also lackluster. The hummus was crumbly and chalky in texture and lacked flavor. I ate the crudite it came with and avoided the dried bean paste after my first taste. After the fiasco with the drinks, I refused to venture further into their food options. Alternatively, my date enjoyed the Buffalo Chicken wrap and tator tots he ordered. What was strange was how the atmosphere changed as the evening went on. The lower-key music was replaced by louder pop, dance, and hip-hop, and a standing room-only, bro bar-focused crowd began to take over the limited bar space. Normally this wouldn't be a cause for concern, but my date and I were seated at an elevated booth; the standing room-only people, shifting uncomfortably in their winter coats, were at eye level an arm's length away, and the suggestive dance music was at odds with the aisle of space available to move about. I'd probably check out other offerings on Division before coming back.

Fantastic bar/brewery with excellent bar food and a great vibe! We sat at the bar and ordered the chicken wings and the calamari. Both were tasty, seemed fresh and just overall fantastic! The bartender (Luke) was very friendly and just on top of his game from a service standpoint as well. I would most definitely go back! Thank you!

Only thing I have to say about this place is that the chicken nachos were good. This is a very good looking bar, but service was super slow and the waitresses either didn't understand english or they were acting slow. Judging from other reviews I am reading the wait staff seems to be an issue. The bouncers at the door were very friendly and made it a point to speak to us and thank us for coming when we left. I probably won't come back, there are much better bars on this strip of Division.

  • Kelly A.

The food was good and they had a nice beer selection. Although, the beer seemed to be overpriced. The service was pretty awful. They had two people for the entire bar, entire seating area, and patio. I understand they were short handed, but I had to go up to the bar to get beers and ask the bus boy for a water. Our water only came by once to take our order. Didnt even glance in our general direction once. Like I said, the food was good which is why I'm giving it two stars. But it's not worth coming back again.

The sunday brunch crowd in this wicker park eatery is filled with families unfortunately, quite a damper to their bloody mary bar. They do however have outdoor seating when it's not minus five degrees outside and shockingly decent bathrooms. The mimosas are a little too expensive for my taste, especially as I'll need at least five to dodge all the strollers that creep around this restaurant.

I ordered the salmon salad and very impressed. I expected typical bar fare, but that is not what I received. The salmon was well seasoned and perfectly cooked! The salad was not overly dressed and had great balance. We also shared the baked cookie dough with ice team. Amazing! Duh.

Very rude hostess. Avoid and go to another bar. They have all these open tables and only seat who they know. The worst is my pregnant sister was with us and the manager didn't even care. Talk about horrible customer service and care for pregnant women.

The Boundary is the bomb!!! This past weekend I hosted a surprise party at The Boundary. As our party grew to a size larger than the reservation was initially set for, Courtney, the (floor) manager was more than happy in accommodating us by letting us swap the booth we were supposed to have and let us take several more tables than we had originally asked for/ needed. I had also brought in some balloons, cake, and pre ordered some apps prior to the night of our party. They set up our tables with the balloons, helped me bring out the cake when it was time, and had our apps fired up and served as soon as the 30 of us sat down. Our server, Courtney, was amazing. She took all of our orders, brought our food out, which was amazing, served our drinks, and even separated out tabs like a champ. No complaints, no bitchy attitude, and all in a very timely matter. I can't rave enough about how great she was!!!! The bar tenders, runners, and everyone else helping out were great too!!! I will definitely be back to The Boundary and highly recommend people to go and see what a great place this is for themselves. Great food, great people, great time!!!

This is a place where you can come and enjoy a beer and watch a game. There's about a dozen TVs and an abundance of beer on tap. We came here as a party of 6 and ordered burgers and wrap. The fish taco is flavorful and the food portions are just right. The service is quick and friendly. The atmosphere is casual and chill and I would recommend it to everyone.

This would be the ideal place to watch sports and catch a cocktail during the summer. The place is huge, sports bar-esque and a lot of fun. My only experience here was a late Saturday night, meeting up with some friends that live in the area. The last March Madness game of the night was on so it was nice to have TVs everywhere that way you could watch the excitement from anywhere in the bar. During commercials the DJ came on which was pretty awesome since I was in the mood to party. It wasn't too obnoxiously packed so we parked at the bar where 2 out of the 3 bartenders were awesome. We didn't know what we were in the mood to drink (beer, liquor drinks, shots) so the bartenders were really patient and actually made suggestions. We tried this awesome malt beverage orange drink with mango vodka and it was our go-to for the night. Our other bartender was like a paranoid boyfriend. We had friends all over the bar so when one friend opened a tab at the bar and then would venture to our other group of friends sitting at a table, go outside to smoke or.. I don't know go to the bathroom, the bartender would immediately come over and ask if my friend was still there. Dude. Chill. The DJ was awesome but it was hard to request songs (which could have been the point) He was located on top of the bar so there's no people traffic to bother him (which is genius). I was reuniting with a sorority sister and all we wanted to hear were jams that took us back to college.. a little ying yang twins and pretty Ricky. We asked the bartender how we could request songs and she said a number would pop up on the TV screens to text in your request. WHAT!? first time i ever heard of such a thing and I waited patiently like a kid trying to catch Santa for the number to pop up. Never did. Good thing the guy sitting next to us worked there and took our paper airplane full of songs up to the DJ. very happy camper. Chicago.. i like this sports bar very much.

St Patrick's + Blackhawks. Couldn't go wrong. The food was fast, hot, and delicious. Service was awesome. Courtney (or both Courtneys) provided an awesome experience. I was highly impressed with her ability to remember drink preferences with our party of 25ish. Having the shuttle to the game was a bonus. Will definitely return.

You're right--The Boundary isn't going to blow your socks off. But the burgers are cooked just right (did the Sunny Side Up medium rare tonight, and it actually came out that way), the fries/tots are cooked to perfection, and the iron skillet chocolate chip cookie is a no-brainer. We also tried the spicy chicken burger special and that was done well too. Add in fast service and a patio that is always semi-crowded but always has a table for four and you are all good in the hood. We used our DrinkDeck discount card here tonight for $10 off, so we got two burgers, two beers, and the dessert for $35 before tip. That'll work!

Fun place. Great mimosa and Bloody Mary bar! Lots of TVs. Bang bang shrimp appetizer is delicious - a little spicy. Everyone is friendly-great service. Loud but fun atmosphere. The boundary burger is excellent. Their guacamole is really good. Ordered a weihenstephaner hefe weissbier from their extensive beer list. Delicious. Would definitely come back!!

Had dinner last night at the Boundary with a few co-workers. The place had a pleasant atmosphere and our waitress was outstanding. I had the clam chowder soup as a starter. Must say the soup temperature wise was not hot. Just kinda of warm and it did not have that clam/ fishy taste. Kinda bland. For the entree I had the grilled Buffalo Chicken Wrap and man-o-man, it was awesome. The chicken was perfectly grilled and very juicy. Topped off with an amazing buffalo wing sauce with a mix of lettuce and onions. Simply fantastic. On top of everything else, the price was reasonable. I will surely be back to try out other menu times.

I've been coming here to play euchre, it's a great atmosphere and the staff is always very friendly. Plus their burgers are amazing!

We stayed in Chicago for 4 days and came here 3 times. All the food we tried did NOT disappoint. Fried cheese curds, fried mac n cheese, the sunnyside up burger, the southwest chicken wrap, and the ahi tuna wrap were all absolutely delicious. And the staff is fantastic! Will be back next time we come back!

Sorry guys, you were my go to burger spot. no more. we went on a warm evening last week, and didn't end up getting any food, because we walked out at the 1 hour mark after not getting any food, not even an apology, explanation, manager walk up, nothing. AND nobody comped our beers while we were waiting patiently, for something, anything. If it's nice out, get more people to come in and work. You just lost a neighborhood regular..

Some guy started yelling at me to leave at 1:30. Also the food is garbage, the ambiance is garbage, just avoid at all costs

Great patio for the warmer weather days in a great neighborhood. I've been here a few times and I've tried a couple different things. I enjoyed them, but they were nothing to write home about. However, then I ordered the fish tacos and my god, they are frickin amazing. Best fish tacos I've ever had. I've tried to duplicate the recipe at home, but there is no comparison. Good for the fish tacos and the very well organize and extensive beer list. Also sit on the patio, it's lovely and good people watching. The servers were wonderful every time. The place is quite large and I've never had to wait to get seated.

well it's almost 4 years later since i wrote about that boundary joint. have made some good friends by comin here over there years, not sure if that is a good sign or a bad sign... if hugging the manager and having a hand shake with the bartender is wrong, then i don't wanna be right! they have a nice weekend brunch, build your own bloody mary bar, sriracha isn't out on the table, but i'm comfortable enough to sneak back and snatch it by the bar. tons of good fixins for the bloodies, pretty much anything you can imagine, mutliple kinds of olives, mini corn, giardinera, A1, horseradish, etc, etc. i've always enjoyed the food here. they also offer nice freebies for foursquare check-ins, free nachos, etc. some of my favorite menu items are... spinach and artichoke dip tater tots (DUH) boundary burger baja fish tacos steak tacos (CHIMICHURRI!!!) breakfast tacos huge beer selection. football season is back, they make a mean chocolate covered pretzel shot. till next time. oh ya, p.s., also ran into patrick kane and seth meyers here, so the cool kids roll by sometime too!

4 stars for the atmosphere, 1.5 stars for the food. The menu looks so good but the prices were all high. Everything was $10.99 or up and the menu consisted of sandwiches. I ordered one of the delicious looking sandwiches and when it came out I was disappointed at the portion size of it and its fries considering the price. The bread was too moist and mushy and the ingredients lacked flavor, giving it an over-all bland taste. The fries were merely ok. They also charge $10.99 for 8 hot wings. WTF!!! That is over $1.30 per wing! I know places that serve their wings for only 10 cents and they are darn yummy! They have "specials" which weren't anything special. Only come here for a beer and the many TVs.

Solid, but not spectacular place in Wicker Park. Been there many times, including last night before the Hawks game (10 percent off if you show your ticket). Food is always good, never great. However, after being open for several years now, I wish they would change up the menu a bit. It has barely ever changed since day one.

It seems that my only escape from insanity in the workplace is to Yelp. Well my friends, I'm here to Yelp the sh*t out of this place. The Boundary Located on Division St, this place has never disappointed me. From the tasteful thinly cut fries to the Delirium Tremens that accompanies my meal, The Boundary remains a good friend. You have yet to fail me good buddy! Open door restaurant with an additional outside eating patio makes a great meal 10x better to enjoy. The numerous flat TVs on the walls will make any sport fanatic's head implode. I will be back here to enjoy their drinks and fare. I suggest you do the same.

Great food, great beer selection and a really nice interior. It reminds me of a ski lodge, except for all the TVs. This is probably my favorite place to watch a game with my friends. Go Hawks!

see my previous review, this is just a little update on their system of dealing with a wait...it sucks. Now that the nice weather is upon us, the outside seating at Boundary is now open and the place is busy just about every day...meaning there is a wait. The system they have is ridiculous, because it's not a system. The hosts are expected to take names and write down a description of the people waiting then have to go find those people when their table is ready. Now, mind you, the people waiting can be anywhere around the huge bar or waiting outside. How can you expect the hosts to find everyone?! I was concerned about this and so my man and I waited for our table directly in front of the host area. We never moved. 30 minutes tick by and I notice that people that came in after us are being seated. WTF. Finally we go up and say something and the hostess says, "I tried looking for you guys where were you?" Um, right in front of you this entire time, you literally had to walk around us to look for people. It's not her fault though, this is the dumbest system I have ever seen. Get those little plastic things that light up and vibrate when there's a table ready, or at least have the hostesses yell out the names of the people waiting. Something, ANYTHING, other than them just writing down a description then wading through a sea of people trying to find the people she's looking for. Food is good, set up is nice, service is good, prices aren't bad and the outside during the summer is great, so I won't even take off a star for this stupidity driven waiting/seating system.

This reminds me of a college bar. That isn't to say that this spot is in disrepair, because it isn't...it's just meh. The service started out really friendly (it was early). However, our server left, and our new server really didn't help us...at all...we had to flag her down (no, it wasn't that busy), and even then, our orders didn't seem to come out right. She was nice enough, but sort of missing in action. The food is passable. There isn't anything on the menu to entice my tastebuds. I had a sandwich - it was fine, but nothing to write home about. The atmosphere reminds me of a football game, which would be fine, if I was actually at a football game. It's not very personal - very sports-bar, but not super friendly. The bathrooms were sort of gross (again, reminds me of college). I have been to Boundary a few times and have never been really impressed. I will not seek this place out for a return visit.

I have been to this place three times. Once during the day, once on a week night, and once on the weekend. All times have provided good service, good food, and interesting people to talk to. Last night I went with three other friends and our server was so nice that I felt compelled to write a review. For some reason I was looking for a nightcap that doubled as a desert, but nothing of the sort was on the menu. I talked with our server, he worked with the bartender, and came back with a wonderful and delicious chocolate martini. The food was pretty good the last time I ate there as well. This place is a good option if you are in the area for a friendly atmosphere with good service.

Never, ever again will I go to the Boundary. I was in yesterday and ordered a wrap with no cheese as I'm nursing my son and he is allergic to dairy. The wrap came out and appeared to be cheese-free, but after I ate half of it, I discovered little bits of cheese chopped up and present in the wrap. I didn't finish the rest but the damage was done - my son has been screaming all morning and has a hell of a rash to deal with. Boundary, if you can't even get something as simple as "no cheese" right, I don't see any reason to come back to you.

Maybe I'm the luckiest man in the world, because it seems I only get 5-star treatment wherever I go. I can't remember the last time I gave something less than 5-stars...and I am a complainer, for real, ask Ashley. Did you ask her yet? I've got all day...................................................... Good. What did she tell you? Did she tell you about the time I complained about a certain restaurant in Evanston only having dijon mustard and not yellow? How about the time a little sushi place in Glenview refused to give me a spoon with my soup and forced me to eat it with chopsticks? Well that stuff never happened, so I don't know why she would've told you about it. Anyway, I had a Restaurant.com gift certificate and we definitely got our moneys worth. We have been here twice in the past two weeks. The first time I ordered a "Breakfast burger" or "Hangover burger" or something. It was huge. REALLY SLOPPY!!! And had a fried egg on it. It was delicious!!!! See Ashley's review about the buffalo chicken wrap...o-m-Fing-G. Our waitress was very attentive, but not so much where its like "Ok, yes, we're fine, thank you! Leave us alone so we can eat now." They had a good list of beers. I ordered a grapefruit beer that was really light and refreshing, but it got me made fun of for the rest of the car ride home because the alcohol content was like 2.7%. Whatever, it was hot out and a big heavy beer wasn't something I wanted after the cow I just ate. We came here again for Ashley's birthday (after dinner at Shiso) for a couple drinks. My two best buds joined us and we all sat outside talking and enjoying the night. I really like this place. Sucks that is so far from where we live, but if they keep in the Restaurant.com list of restaurants, then we will make our way down to Wicker Park frequently!

Good food. Potent drinks. Reasonable prices. Great decor. I'm a fan. I had the nachos as an appetizer and they were delicious. The chips were piled high with chicken and the rest of the toppings. For the entree, I had the fish tacos with a side of fries. The tilapia was so well seasoned that even after a full stomach, I wanted more. Their fries are pretty amazing as well. For dessert we had the baked cookie dough. These folks at The Boundary know their cookies. It was baked to warm, gooey perfection. As for drink, while I'm not a beer fan, they did have an extensive selection of beers for those of you that are. They also have a solid selection of wine. Whatever you're into, you won't be disappointed. Two thumbs up!

The pretzels are amazing and soft. Didn't really try anything unique off the menu. My friend had the turkey club which was massive in size. Place gets packed later in the evening with large groups and families. Not a bad bar, seems pretty low key.

I guess I'm a douchebag, since I like the Boundary! This is a perfect bar on Game Day for you and your friends. Yeah, it's loud, it's crowded, but there are a ton of TVs, big booths, and good food and beer to help you root for the Home team! I've been to the Boundary a few times on Sunday afternoon or Monday nights to watch the Big Game, and although there is usually a 20-30 minute wait for a table, I've found the Hostess to be super helpful, and my waits at the bar enjoyable, with good service all around, and that sawdust shuffleboard game to keep you busy. Boundary has a really good bar menu- on my most recent visit I enjoyed the Pineapple Pork mole tacos. Hellz, yeah! Those tacos were as good as some tacos I've had at Carbon, so kudos to Boundary for stepping up their kitchen! All the servers on Sunday wear their team shirts (and are easy on the eyes, to boot), our cute Minnesotan server wore a Vikings shirt and was so nice, I thought I was in Canada! Bathrooms are clean and well-stocked, and I have no problem at all with the clientele. Will I be at Boundary on a night that isn't game day? Maybe for a drink! On a Saturday? Probably not. But it's certainly got Game Day on lockdown!

Standard fare and a decent beer list make this a good choice for a dinner spot in a pinch. It's a place that a diverse group could be satisfied and everyone would walk away happy. Nobody would be walking away raving about the place but it's good enough. I've been twice and I would go a third time if put in a situation that called for a safe bet like The Boundary.

Awesome service form a dude named Lucas! The food was just ok but that's fine by me because this place should consider itself lucky for having a server like Lucas there. So, me and my family came here for a quick lunch and while here my brother got sick. Not because of the food but because he can't chew his damn steak enough before he swallows. We didn't have to perform the heimlich maneuver or anything because he body ejected the mass of unchewed meat for him. All over his plate and narrowly missing my poor mother. Lucas came over and not only said he would bring another plate but picked up the nasty mess and took it away without even batting an eye lash. Now that's some dedication. Ordinarily, I'd give this place a 3 or a 4 but with a dude that's willing to pick up after my brother blows chunks, and not complain, they get a 5.

I have been to Boundary a couple times and had a nice time: good drinks, good atmosphere, and good service... Worthy of a 4 star review. The extra star comes from a time I did NOT actually go in to Boundary. I was attempting to book a 15 person party (very last minute I should add) and I spoke with a friendly hostess who said she would pass my message along. The next day I was called back by Dan (the GM, I believe). He politely informed me that he would not be able to accommodate my party and then spent another 5 minutes on the phone giving suggestions, encouraging me to stay clear of the loop due to the restaurant show this weekend, etc. Really went above and beyond for a guest who wasn't even coming through the door! Like I said, I have been here and had a good time (4 star review), but the extra effort, friendliness, and service given to me when I was trying to book that party gives it that extra star to make it a 5 star bar.

HIRE A NEW DOOR MAN!!!!! Ok, first of all, I've eaten at Bounday twice...the food is sub par at best. It actually confuses me because I work right near Sweet Water (a sister restaurant of this place) and I think the food there is MUCH better although the menu is the same. Very odd. My real issue with this place is the doorman. You can tell he WANTS to look intimidating, but my guess is I could beat him up in a fist fight (I'm a 25 year old, female...). On Saturday 9/29, a group of 12 of us came to Boundary after doing the Pedal Pub through Wicker Park. It was my friends 26th Birthday and of course, had had been drinking. Was anyone belligerent or acting crazy? Absolutely not! Apparently my friend (the birthday boy) got out of the cab and was not walking in a straight line and looked "too drunk" and like a "liability". These are the words that came out of the idiots mouth at the door. I had a completely sober conversation with him about it and he just kept using the word "liability" as my friend was standing straight up and texting on his phone. He must have looked really drunk, huh??? I asked him if he looked drunk since he could stand and operate a phone and he replied "I text some pretty dumb things when I'm drunk". I bet you text some pretty dumb things when you AREN'T drunk! It's people like this who make businesses so undesirable to the public. My feeling is that there are many bars on Division and if I were Boundary, I would set myself apart from the competition in a positive way, and not hire some roided out wannabe to work the door. I'll never be back...not to eat...not to drink. You lost a lot of business that night, my friends, we stayed out realllllly late and spent LOTS of money. Props to Division Ale House for accommodating us (see my other reviews-this place rocked!!!)

Went here last weekend with the gf from chicago. It was a great time. It's slightly above what you'd expect. The service was above average and I dug the layout of the place. it was too hot to sit outside, but it was perfect inside. Our waitress was Jo, she was very attentive and nice and quick and informative. You can't beat that. Clean environment as well. The food was very good and the beers were nice and cold. I gota burger and she had fish tacos, they were good! Prices are average. Basically, it deserves a 3.5 rating. I will go back if I have the chance

I'm adding this edit to my initial review. I agree with Lauren K that they might have the best nachos in the world (we are actually going to have a nacho show down soon to see who wins between our top places) BUT the last two times I have ordered their nachos, the chips have been stale. Take note Boundary: No more stale chips please. I come for the awesome atmosphere and the nachos...and if the chips are stale one more time, I might have to move my nacho party over to your biggest contender's spot.

This place confuses me. It's a bar... no wait... It's a sports. bar. ... no wait... It's a restaurant... no wait... what is it? It's really nice inside though. The bathroom is nice too. Service was great. Beer selection was amazing. Just confusing.

The atmosphere inside is great. The booth seating, televisions and music make this a great place for everyone. I have brought almost everyone that comes into town here. The menu has some great options but the Bloody Mary and mimosa bar is the best! The patio is awesome and an ideal spot for a Sunday funday. The service is always good here!

Part 2 of our explore the new neighborhood tour takes us to The Boundary, a cool and modern sports bar with a little something for everyone. It has the big bar, the TV in every direction, the semi private booth, the diverse but approachable bar menu and even the shuffle board in the back. We had just moved in and didn't have any food in the apartment and felt grubby having moved all day. There are more than a few casual bars in the area but Erica had heard about The Boundary so we checked it out. The first thing that came to mind was an uncanny resemblance to State Bar in the DePaul area. It even reminds me of a slightly nicer version of Kirkwood Bar - one of our old staples. I don't have a clue what the crowd is like on the weekends, but on a Wednesday night I was happy to see plenty of local police officers enjoying their meals (I trust the local workforce for reliable food). The menu is quite large with plenty of traditional sandwich, burger, wrap and appetizer options, but also a few salads and "dinner plates". This is important because multiple trips back for sports game will require a solid line up of food choices. We ordered three things: spinach artichoke dip, ahi tuna wrap and fish tacos. We really like the pita served with the dip (a great shared starter) and Erica's tuna wrap. It was healthy, fresh and had a really nice light sweet dressing. Wraps come with a choice of side and the grilled asparagus was surprisingly good. I am a bit concerned that "one of the best items" is the fish tacos. It's a solid portion size with three tacos and chips. I liked but didn't love them and only ate two. There was a lot of cheese and sauce on the fish with a small dose of lettuce/cabbage topping. It felt more like a fish quesadilla than a fish taco, but maybe that's the point. I added some spicy salsa to add salt and flavor. We had a nice meal, especially at a "bar and grille". It was good enough to make it a regular destination for quick eats and sports game viewing. Maybe we will find other preferred destinations, but this is also an option AND they serve a pretty good weekend brunch (or so we heard).

Literally, the one roided out looking dude at the door makes this place unbearable all by himself. Apparently there were no open shifts this summer at Lasalle Power Co or English... I'm sure it's an okay mediocre spot otherwise but there are MANY better choices on division for any occasion.

I think I was most disappointed by this place because of our server. From the get go she seemed like she hated my group (I came here with my 3 coworkers). We all came here right after work, originally for some drinks, but we decided hey let's order some food too. Initially, she seemed pushy and kept coming back very frequently asking us if we were ready. This night, there was a promotion for free Guinness glasses with engraving, so each got up to do that (it was in the back of the restaurant), so every time she came back, at least one of us was gone. I think she probably got frustrated that we didn't order first, but I mean hey, who doesn't want free stuff? Anyway, later on one coworker got the cookie dough dessert thing (I don't remember the real name...basically a pizookie if you've been to BJ's Brewhouse). My other two coworkers split tater tots, and I was the only one who ordered an actual entree. I ordered the seared tuna wrap and initially the the waitress commented that that dish was very good and she really likes it. I was already hesitant about ordering a full dish, but I figured I could always take leftovers home and after she said it was good, I got really excited. She asked me what side I wanted, and she named all the things I could order, so I ordered clam chowder. Upon actually receiving my food...wow. I was so..confused. The wrap was really strange. It was like...it was missing a sauce or something. The fish was whatever, and the lettuce and veggies that were in the wrap were so...bland. It was literally like they forgot to put something in there. The soup was actually really good and I wish I had only ordered that. The wrap was just...so wrong. For some reason it also came with ketchup and a pickle. Not sure if I was supposed to put the ketchup on the wrap...?? But who eats seared tuna with ketchup and a pickle. Like really? Okay so anyway, we all finish our food rather quickly and our waitress is no where to be found! I wanted a box for the half of the wrap that I didn't eat and we wanted our check. By this point we all had run out of water (even the carafe left at our table was empty), and we were all just wondering where she had gone. She ended up coming around and got us our check and whatnot, but upon looking at the check, once again I felt upset. She had charged me extra for my side soup!! What!!! WHYYYY!? I think that is probably one of my biggest pet peeves when dining in a restaurant -- when servers DON'T tell you that something is going to be EXTRA! Like c'mon now...that's just common courtesy, especially since everything at this place is already extremely overpriced (ex. most salads cost $13, appetizers are anywhere from $9-15). Our waitress overall didn't seem like she cared much in my opinion and honestly, kind of came off as a little airy. The only good thing that came out of this experience was the free glass, to be quite honest. I'm really sad with how this turned out and I don't think I'll be back again. If you're going to come here, stick to drinks and dessert! Don't order the mediocre, overpriced food.

Eh, I've been here multiple times throughout the years and still have never been wowed by this place. The boyfriend and I came here last night because they emailed him a free entree, he isnt sure why, but we were more than happy to cash it in. I had the Ahi Tuna Wrap and he had the Rock Shrimp Tacos. Both came out super fast and were tasty. Our waiter was excellent. He gave me a great beer recommendation and was super friendly. My one main gripe with Boundary is they NEVER have any specials. With Fatpour across the street, I think this is going to have to change for them. The food is OK, nothing overly that great. They do get a point for the Shuffle Board and the ambiance, but other than that, its just another bar along Division.

Ok...6 hours later, I am still full from those delicious nachos.... A girlfriend and I were in the area and decided to stop here for lunch since it was so packed! Beauitful September day, so we decided to eat outside. Apparently you need your ID to eat here! interesting, but cool. Great selection of food, pretty average prices for the area in my opinion. Our server was pretty solid as well. We ordered the nachos to share, WOW, they were just so good..and different. They were the tri-colored nachos, with cheese sauce and I SWEAR they had beans mixed in the sauce, shredded delicious chicken, amazingly yummo gauc, salsa, peppers and sour cream...there was a TON! We couldn't even finish it! So so good! Not sure how the other food rates, but I definately want to come back to check out the other menu items!

Only got the ginger soy glazed salmon salad for appetizer. But Im sold on this place just with their salad. The salmon in the salad is amazing. Never had a combo of salad and fish, but def would recommend. Came on a nice day and sat outside, it was great.

I ordered the Sunny Side up burger without onions and steak sauce. I liked it a lot. It was medium rare, just the way I liked it. My table got other burgers as well, such as the boundary and the fiesta. The Boundary Burger did not skimp on avocado! The service itself was good considering there was only one waitress for the entire outdoor patio on a Tuesday night. Also, they had a dog bowl for dog owners!

Came here a while ago after a birthday dinner for JUST drinks and had a nice time. The atmosphere is upscale yet since it's a bar, it's also low key. We just had a couple of beers and the lines at the bar were hustling with people, while our little group sat at one of the comfy booths. The place is hugeee, but unfortunately I can't review any of their food, but the drinks were decently priced from what I remember. It got a little too loud for my liking, so it was a little hard to carry on a convo, but then again, who goes to really have serious conversations at loud bars anyway? Long story short, nice vibe, casual atmosphere, would def. be back if in the area for some more drinks.

I don't mind Boundary, but Bottleneck management needs to re-do something in there, stat. The space just does not work and the feng shui is way off! I mean, when you go into a bar on a Friday or Saturday night and half of it is empty, there exists a bit of a problem. The food is ok and they have an ok beer selection, but the space is simply too large to support the amount of people that actually go in here! There is a DJ playing top-40 and old top-40 from years ago - scattered rap, R&B, & EDM. However, there doesn't appear to be anywhere to go dance... What's the point of blasting popular music if there's nowhere to dance? Way too many large tables. They need to be cleared out. Since the place is so big, they may as well put in some arcade games, darts, or pool tables near the shuffleboard table, as well. BTW, the shuffleboard table is awesome, and the only one I've seen in Chicago, so that's a plus. I enjoy drinking or having lunch at Boundary every now and then, so I hope they perhaps change some things around, or else bars like Fatpour and other new places that will inevidably open up will eat this joint up.

At the Boundary for the first time. Great atmosphere. Packed all the time. Good service. Had the Boundary burger. Gave 4 stars cause hamburger meat was tasteless, not seasoned, not even with salt. Pretty bland however if you spice it up with a dressing it's quite good.

like other reviewers, I agree that the nachos were good. I couldn't tell you if my buffalo chicken wrap was good though since my order was switched with someone else's. service was great until the food was served and then the waitress disappeared and then forgot to get us the hot sauce we requested 10 mons prior. my first time here, i was pretty excited to be here, but now I'm pretty disappointed.

Came here to meet friends for the Hawks game on Saturday night. It was a mixed bag because of how packed it was but there were definitely some highlights. They had a really good special ($7 cocktails) and I got my first couple of drinks really quickly. As the game went on the service got slower and slower. I do not really fault our waitress for this; however, my friend and I were not thrilled when we got the wrong drink and did not see our waitress again for 30 minutes so we could get the correct ones. I will say the food we ordered was excellent. My friend ordered the grilled cheese and tots. I had a few bites of it and it was AMAZING, definitely one of the better restaurant grilled cheeses I have had in awhile. I ordered the fish tacos with corn tortillas. They were also really great. I was definitely impressed with the quality of the food and how quickly it came in light of the large crowd. I had a blast at The Boundary and would definitely be willing to amend this review if I get better service.

I'm reviewing the food, not the bar. The bar is fine, a little full of yuppies, a little douchy on weekends. The food is very good bar food. They have excellent burgers and buffalo wings, and the southwest steak wrap is very good. The cobb salad is also quite good, with fresh ranch dressing that they make onsite. This is also one of the few places in the city that you can actually get buffalo wings delivered (through Grub Hub) that taste like they just came out of the fryer. Their delivery is fast and very good, though a bit pricey.

Super cool place with very good food. I love the atmosphere in here with the TVs and the music. It's a great crowd as well and always a fun time. They offer a shuttle bus service with game tickets to Blackhawks games for a very good price; I highly recommend doing that. Finding parking here is my only tiny complaint.

This place is great for game day! The food is a little above average for bar food and the beer list is something you would see anywhere in Wicker Park/Bucktown. I actually first came here with my sorority for lunch on a tour of Wicker Park. I would definitely come here again for a chill night out or to watch a game.

I had a great experience, it was my first time there so I didn't know what to expect. I went during lunch time on a Saturday it was full but was seated right away. The server was super nice a knowledgeable with her beer suggestions. The beer selection is excellent they have something for everyone. The food options are very good. I ordered the nachos as an appetizer, they are big enough to share with a group for sure. I ended up with the fiesta burger and it was delicious, it seems hearty because of the toppings but they mesh so well together. I tried a bunch of beers and was there for a while with my boyfriend. I had a great time, the food was so good and I am definitely returning to try other items from their menu.

Most of the complaints about this place seem to be about the clientele/atmosphere. I ordered delivery, so you're not going to get a review about something as medial as the color of the plates or trixie to chad ratio. The sunnyside burger is awesome. It's like the original Kuma burger at Kuma's corner, except I don't have to stand in line for 2 hours next to a rude hostess or slip someone a 20 to get the next table to get one. They, like sane restaurant owners, deliver. Their grilled cheese is great, and so is their soup. Delivery driver was polite and thanked me for my business. This place is awesome in my book. They may want to consider packing to-go burgers upside-down. It might not be visually-appealing, but it'll make sure the bottom bun isn't completely soggy when it arrives.

I've been here a lot, as I live in the neighborhood. I used to argue that Boundary had the best bar food on Division. Now, I'll argue that it's average, at best. It seems like they are ordering more frozen food and less and less items that they serve are anything other than ordinary. The chicken strips used to be freshly made and Panko crusted. Now they are just the same frozen chicken tenders that you can buy anywhere. Nacho chips that used to seem homemade are now store bought and stale. Portions seem smaller and less fresh. Probably done eating there :(

I think I missed something because we went in for lunch around noon on a Tuesday and were literally the only people there. It was a bummer. The place looked cool though, and I bet it would be great for watching any kind of game. As far as the food goes, it was pretty alright for bar food. The mac and cheese was pretty great and my wrap was good (buffalo chicken, see pics). However, my boyfriend wasn't too thrilled with his santa fe wrap. The fries were nothing special. Overall, pretty decent, but nothing to rave on about.

Want slow service, a poor draft beer selection, and high prices? This is the place for you. I went here a few years ago, and had a decent time but man has this place gone downhill. Many better spots on Division for drinks... I'd take Bangers and Lace, the Bedford, or even the Big 10 Douchefest of Fatheads before coming back.

Buffalo Chicken Wrap, patio, tater tots, craft beers, summer in the city.......I mean c'mon the review really writes itself. But seriously, this wrap, I gotta know what they put in it. It's amazing, something straight out of a dream! My fiance got a burger, not surprise there :) I believe his exact words were "this is a big ol' sloppy burger" and that's what it was people, a mess of beef, fried egg, pretzel bun, ketchup and mustard, lettuce, tomato and big kosher pickle....wait a minute, is this what that drunk, tropical dude has been singing about all these years!? Makes sense, it's worth writing a song about for sure! We've been here on two occasions and had the same server, a young girl, very sweet and a great server. Our most recent visit was on my birthday and she did a birthday shot with me, which was really great! I love this place and we will definitely be back!

Went here for my birthday for the first time and I really enjoyed it. It was a cool, calm, place with great service and I ordered the chicken tender entree and that was very satisfying. Not to mention the fast service we got from the ten shots we ordered. Looking forward to sitting at the boundary on the patio In the summer great place!

This place sucks hands down. The experience here was ruined right from the beginning because of the bouncer at the front door, terrible and slow customer service and dirty plates, glasses and silverware, lost my appetite. In an area with many other food and drinking options, avoid this dirty establishment at all costs!!!

Had an impromptu Sunday brunch with my buddy Brian on the patio here yesterday. Overall everything was great?! Perfect weather coupled with a huge great beer selection really helped take away the post wedding hangover from the night before. Or just pushed it forward until a later date, but regardless, thanks for that. In regards to food; I believe their menu had something for everyone. Sandwiches, salads, and burgers. All of which looked great coming out to the patio area. We split one of the burgers which had avacado, tortilla chips, and jalepeno's. It was seriously one of the best burgers i've had in a long time. Also had the cheese curds early on, which were solid as always. If you need any further reasons to come, i'm not sure what they are, but will end this review by saying I had no intention on sitting on that patio for 3.5 hours yesterday, but I did.

I am a huge fan of this spot and have probably been here 15 times. The service is always good. The space is huge and airy (love it when the front windows are open!). The food is great! We went two days in a row last week for the March Madness games. We loved the sweet and spicy wings that were on the special menu! These were so delicious that we had to order a second helping! Yummm. Hope they make it onto the regular menu. They also had some type of buffalo chicken wraps as an appetizer. Equally as good! Finally, I did splurge and enjoy the chocolate chip cookie dessert. This is gooey and worth every calorie. This is an awesome spot!

  • Matt J.

This place is a solid option to grab upscale bar food and watch a sporting event. The only disappointing thing to note is that they have recently changed their recipe for their chicken tenders and it is not nearly as good as how they use to be prepared. My friend and I voiced our displeasure to our server and she indicated that the change was made due to the length of time it took to prepare them the old way, to which we replied "so what, it was better the old way". She nodded in agreement and simply said "I know". Note to owners/management: NEVER NEVER NEVER sacrifice quality for speed of preparation. Charge more money if you must, but don't tease us with the good stuff and then pass of an inferior product on us later on.

Outdoor cafe is crowded but nice. Menu is really small. The real problem with The Boundary is consistency. Sometimes the food is 5 stars, especially the burgers. Other times, you order the same thing and it's bland. Last time I was there, my burger was not well seasoned, overcooked, and missing the avocado. Fresh hot fries are great; cold undercooked fries are not.

  • Eric D.

The fish tacos were good, the tortilla chips were generic and lame. I don't need to eat multicolored tortilla chips. Who the hell dyes food anymore. They gave me a great beer recommendation. Service was slow and not attentive, I was there at lunch and it was not very busy. Overall it was ok.

  • Sabby H.

We stopped in for a drink here and it was pretty decent. Good beer list, and they had a great cookie skillet with ice cream on top. We asked for an extra scoop of ice cream, but never got it, but wasn't charged for it either, so a wash. A good place to catch a game.

The wings are spectacular! Service is fine, though the last time I went I was meeting a girlfriend for dinner and drinks and they sat us right by two separate large tables of families with a screaming baby and at least eight kids running, yes running, around the tables in the dining room. It seemed like a really odd choice when there were plenty of other tables, but other than that the food is good. Prices are a little high if you're just going for dinner and drinks on a weekday, I can understand those prices are justified in the summer or on busy game days but they could afford to run some better specials during the week.

This is a nice bar but nothing really to differentiate it from other big sports bars. This place is just like west end and the food costs more than its worth. A great place to watch a game in a great neighborhood.

My bf and I came here for lunch on my bday. We were decided on this place based on all the people that were sitting outside and decided this must be good. Once we sat inside, the decor was great: exposed brick, nicely painted cement floors and I loved the booths!! We then began looking at the menu and noticed that they had a nice beer selection. We then ordered our drinks and when they came they were really good. On the other hand the food was not so great. My burger was not cooked all the way and his chicken was really rubbery. The best part of our meal was the tator tots!! I like the ambiance of the place and I could tell that at night the place would be jumping. So the next time I come, I would just sit at the bar and have drinks.

Very trendy Wicker Park bar. The music was good but too loud to hold a decent conversation. I know they're known for their tots, but mine were nothing special. It literally tasted like something I would have made after overcooking them a minute too long. What I like about this place is the staff. The bouncers were cool and the waitresses were awesome. They were super attentive. After paying we sat around a while longer. The waitress would still come back and refill our glasses of water whenever it was low. Seriously good service.

Nice spot, good patio. Good selections of drinks / beers. Food average, typical bar food. Waitress was really nice and recommended some good choices. Parking is kind of a nightmare in this area so beware of that. Overall a nice place to people watch and have a cold beer!

All of the signage in this place says its an "Official Blackhawks Bar". They didn't even have the game on one of their 10 plus TVs. Had to go to a different place a couple doors down.

Four stars to the $6 Effen bloody mary bar and all of its available garnishes on Saturdays and Sundays for breakfast-brunch-lunch. I was full before our meal even arrived because of all of the olives, cheese, peppers, etc I put in my drink!

I really like boundary and my score is primarily based on the fact that I love their outdoor seating area during the daytime hours, lots of people watching, and I can bring my pooch Lulu with me as well. The food is pretty good, while I would say its 'typical bar fare' they have plenty of things I like to get like fish tacos and I love the steak salad quite a bit. The drinks are good (mmmmm makes me want to walk down there and get a mojito), and I really love this as on option for a sunny weekend lunch outside!

First of all, I'm saddened that a place like this even EXISTS in Wicker Park. Secondly, I am still not sure how or why I ended up here, as opposed to one of the myriad options for food at this intersection. My friend & I were stuck in the monsoon at the Renegade Craft Festival and decided to wait it out with some food here. I mean, it's okay. It's a sports bar. My friend got a turkey burger that she thought was very good. I decided to throw all caution to the wind and try both the fried mac & cheese and the tater tots. Both were drenched in grease, which I normally don't mind, but between the two of them I felt like I was drowning is disgusting. The fried mac & cheese bites were surprisingly good. Tater tots were way too crispy and greasy for me. Our waitress was nice enough, but you could tell that we were not the kind of people that she regularly deals with, or likes to deal with. Eh.

I love The Boundary. I have been there many times, both in small groups and for parties of large groups. My experiences have always been great. Although it seems to be geared to a younger crowd, I am definitely in the older group of clients. I have brought my contemporaries there and they all love it. The place itself is fabulous looking. Their Christmas decorations are wonderful. Just being there is very uplifting. Everyone who works there is very accommodating, from the servers to the bus people, to the manager. And of course, there is the food, which I think is great. There is a varied menu, and everything I've tried is terrific. I don't eat meat, but my friends say their hamburgers and hot wings are great. I love the fish tacos, their different salads, pastas, nachos, artichoke dip, and everything is consistently good. I am very happy that there is a place right smack dab between my work and my home, where I can stop any day and have a great meal!

Mediocre bar food. I had a bland burger with a stale bun. Service not great: waited quite a while between drinks and bus servers were strangely eager to take beers away from us; my dad had a third of his Sam Adams left when the guy came up and grabbed it without even asking if he was done. Would go again only to watch Sunday football, because there are at least two dozen flatscreens there.

Holy mackerel, this place is cool! I'm not gonna lie, I've been to a lot of bars in Chicago, but this place is great. The food is really good for a bar too. Try the spinach and artichoke dip and the hummus, they're pretty rockstar. It's definitely more of a sit-down kinda joint, and can quickly get to standing room only status. The other option is that you can hit up Jerry's next door for some awesome sammys and then go here for some hoops action and drinks.

Great place to have a beer and watch a game. Any seat in the house is a great spot to get you sports fix. The food was pretty good when they first opened. Lately it seems a bit too salty. I usually stick to the wraps. They never failed me. As for the service, some servers are just ok and others have been awesome. I would also like to point out the the majority of the servers are hot. That always helps.

During my traditional holiday visit to Chicago, I met up with a couple friends to watch some Sunday football. My only criteria for a suitable place to watch, was that it would be NOWHERE in the Gold Coast. We found an ideal spot at the bar where we had a good vantage point to be able to watch the game and easy access to bar service. Our bartender never left my glass empty and I didn't necessarily know if that was a good thing as I still needed to drive home. Apparently, I was completely engrossed with present company and the football game to the point that I was ignoring the bartender. We already had lunch, but thought because we had been drinking it would be a good idea to order some food. Whatever we ate, it is not worth mentioning. I decided to write this review because I thought the venue was ideally situated, had the right amount of TV screens, and very attentive bar staff. The vibe was upbeat and casual enough to enjoy an afternoon of Sunday football outside the comfort of your own home.

I hate to be this way, but Boundary is kind of a symbol of where Wicker Park is headed as a neighborhood, and I mean that in a bad way. It has an undeniable Wrigleyville vibe to it. And that is fine, as long as it stays in Wrigleyville. If I want to be surrounded by d-bags while I eat, I'll hit the Cubby Bear. Having said that, the food is hit-or-miss, and the service is pretty good. The menu is large, but about 80% of the stuff I've tried isn't very good.

I could see how The Boundary could get packed and annoying on a weekend. However, for a week night it is a good Wicker Park option - especially if you like to cheer on the sports. Boy, do they have a lot of TVs! The Boundary also has a lot of comfy booths around its edges and plenty of tables in its spacious middle. The food here (as many have noted) is above average bar food - the price reflects it. Not a good stop for cheap eats, but excellent for a twist on the ordinary. I went with a party of four (one more and I could have said Party of Five. Dang it. I love you Scott Wolf!) and we were served right away by one of the most accommodating waitresses I have had in a long time (she changed the TVs to Red Sox and Cubs games without any hassle - woo-hoo). We ordered some AMAZING beef skewers to start and also some damn tasty queso with chunks and chunks of chorizo. So. Good. The pita triangles were cooked slightly which gave them a great smoky flare. I went with the Cowgirl salad (Santa Fe style with chicken). I wish I had gone with a burger because they looked better. And I so did not dig the shredded chicken in my salad - NOT meaty enough. For beahs, we sampled plenty of the wide selection - Three Floyd's, Tremurs, etc. The prices were pretty high but so was the beer quality. Not a deal but not a disappointment either. Overall, I like the Boundary. It's sports bar sleek and a good weekday stop for sure.

I've hung out at The Boundary numerous times and have always enjoyed my time there! Whether it's having brunch while watching NFL football on Sunday or as a last stop after a night of bar hopping, it does not disappoint. Their food is above average bar food and they have plenty of choices. There are plenty of TVs so you can watch whatever sporting event you'd like. The space is very roomy and there's even a shuffleboard table in the back, so there's something else to entertain you and your buds while you are there... Overall a fun place and can't wait to go again soon!

I recommend you are already very very drunk before going to the boundary so as not to notice the cheesy lofty Piece-like decor and diminuitive cognitive capacity of the waitstaff. Friends and I risked hangin with d-bags (and baguettes) for a drunken sociological experiment. The server could not recommend a drink when my friend asked her what's the boundary's speciality. Most likely there is none, but make something up if you work there. How hard is it to suggest alcohol to someone wanting to drink? The mystified server looked as if we asked her to spell "mystified." She also seemed rather pissed we were not big spenders. Apparently she could add up the prices of our drinks in her head. I thought Cans and the Tavern were enough for the d-bags that want to hang in Bucktown (they always call Wicker Park "Bucktown.")

Like so many, cooler than thou yelpers before me I really didnt want to like the Boundry. But frankly every time i go there i have a great experience. The food is pretty good (i like the fish tacos and the mac and cheeze bites) and the drink are reasonable. They have shuffle board and there is never a wait when i go (although i dont go at night). I was recently there for brunch and was super excited to find they have a bloody mary bar. You get a little airplane sized bottle of Effen (enough for 2 drinks) and all you can eat fixins (i heart drinks with prizes) for just under $7!! Seriously!! what a deal. I always seem to have the same server when im there... sometimes she is slow but she is really nice and adorable. I've only met really nice people there staff wise, so that's a plus. I've never gone there at night. When i walk by it seems full of the same ol gentrified trixies and chads i've come to know an love in WP. That being said, it probably wouldnt be my first choice for a night out but wouldnt be my last either.

I've been to Boundary four or five times now and if you're looking for a place with a cool atmosphere and a good vibe this definitely works. I've only eaten here once, I had the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was fine. It'd be a good comfortable spot if you're on a date as the booths along the side are plentiful and I've never really had an issue with seating there. Waitresses have for the most part been on point, except for potentially being understaffed two of the times I was there, but they do their best. I wouldn't say the bartenders are overly friendly but I'm sure if you're there enough you'll develop a rapport, but unlike most other bars I've been to I found the bartenders to be....eh, indifferent perhaps. They do have a lot of ground to cover so that could be part of the reason, but even on slow nights.....Room for improvement, but that wouldn't stop me at all from coming back. Overall cool place and I would recommend it if you need an easy place to grab a drink with some friends!

Owner contacted me about my review. I'm going to check out The Boundary again and post another review. I came here with friends hoping to get some filling food and drinks. We did get our food, but only after hunting down a waitress 15 minutes into sitting at our table without so much as a hello. I have no idea what's going on at the Boundary, but there were several waitresses catering to the patrons outside and hardly any catering to the patrons inside. They seriously need to figure out who is taking care of what. I shouldn't have to hunt down a waiter or waitress to take my order at any bar/restaurant. I won't be going back there for a while, if ever. They really need to get it together with the service or they're going to lose patrons left and right.

Ok, some of you may throw stones at me for saying it ... but I like Boundary. It reminds me of a Kirkwood or Gaslight - a nice spot to grab a drink and great bar food. So if you don't like those places, you probably won't like Boundary. The space is epic - very open with nice wood detailing, a fireplace (love that in the winter) and lots of TV's. The beer selection is impressive and I've found the bartenders to be informative and cute (not a bad combo). The menu is expansive as well. I've never been let down with my selections. I will say that waitstaff service isn't all that great during the dinner hour, but maybe that's just been my experience. The crowd is always good looking and social. It might not be the traditional off-the-beaten-path dive bar (which I also love) but for what it is, an upscale sports bar on Division street, I like it.

I've been to this place twice and have been seating both on the patio and inside the restaurant. The service is ok and the food is ok. It has typical bar food but the atmosphere is what makes it stand out. TVs are all around the restaurant. Great for groups!! And I have to say that their bathrooms are awesome!! Great design.

The Boundary is a great addition to East Village and Wicker Park. The best word to describe the owners approach to The Boundary is 'epic'. The space is very open, with flat screens all around and a nice cabin-type feel. You almost expect to look out the windows/door and see snow covered slopes outside. Their food is pretty good and their beer selection is impressive, with enough mixed drink and wine options to keep most people happy.

While, American/Bar style food is my least favorite, I would have to say that the food was pretty decent. I got a portobella sandwich, which had a really great sauce with it, and YAY for tatertots! I also had a Bloody Mary from the bartender, while waiting to be seated. It was the standard delicious concoction. Unfortunately, the service was beyond piss poor. There were two people waiting on our table (one was going through training), and some how that equaled out to the worst service ever. It took them forever to get our order, and I don't think they were paying attention to our food as it was coming up from the kitchen. Our appetizer, that we did order before our meals, came out with our food. The inattentiveness continued for the duration of our presence. In a city like Chicago, where there's hundreds of bars, serving up a similar menu, I think I'll go for the one with better service next time.

It's one of the places that is turning Wicker Park into Lincoln Park. But I digress, strolled into watch da Bears game. We were kind of expecting some specials cause it's a cheesy sports bar but everything was full price. Decent selection of beers, lots of tvs, and shuffleboard. Food was really overpriced and meh. All-in-all, another generic bar with no personality.

  • Hector M.

We stopped in there last night for some food and drink and I was really happy with the food and the atmosphere was just fine. It's a loud bar and the atmosphere was Lincoln Park lite but still not a major issue. We started with Chicken wings and we went with the Devil's sauce and it was hot and tangy but still enjoyable. Definitely a good appetizer to start with. I was told about the burgers and I was not disappointed. They were huge and they tasted great. I had the fiesta burger which had guacamole, Monterrey jack, and jalapeno peppers. It looks like they use lean meat because it was not overflowing with grease. Another plus is that they offer tater tots. Doesn't get any better then tater tots! There was a huge selection of beers and plenty to choose from the menu. I will definitely come back and bring a group with me just for the food but catching a game at the bar and having a drink would not be a bag thing either.

ENOUGH WITH THE HIPSTER HATER-ADE Why the hatred? Boundary has a great beer selection, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the crowd is nothing like the the Trixie/douchebag Chads you'll find at Moe's or Barleycorn. I'd hardly consider this an invasion. Just because your server doesn't have dreadlocks doesn't mean the bar isn't cool. Get over it.

I've been to this place a few times for dinner in the past couple of months, most recently tonight, and it's kind of a toss-up. It seems to me that in order to get good food one must suffer through poor service, and to get good service one must suffer through poor food. The wait-staff seems to be either friendly but unskilled or mediocre and unconcerned on any given night. The food comes out quickly, but isn't always the best. Sometimes it's a bit on the cold side, other times it's lacking in taste. Overall I think it's a good place to hang out with friends, just don't go in expecting too much. Plus the drinks are good and the desserts are excellent.

3.5 Awesome queso.. I have eaten here a few times, the queso is suprisingly delicious (has chorizo in it) pretty disgusting but really tasty! I had the talapia tacos once and they were NOT good. Wouldn't get those again, eek. Tasty tater tots(are these hard to mess up though? not really.) definitely true about men eyeing women the whole time. definitely go back for the queso. mmmmm yummy. what else have I had there? hmph will update when memory comes back..

I actually really enjoyed The Boundary, I'm surprised to see it has such crappy reviews. I went there on a Thursday night with boyfriend and we sat outside. Our waittress was very pleasant and recommended several types of beers (they have TONS) to us that we tried. I only wish I could remember the names now! I had fish tacos and I thought they were awesome. The tilapia was light and flaky and I really liked the sauce that was on them. They were very filling, I only ate 2 out of the 3. My boyfriend had a steak wrap and tater tots and I requested that he gimme some of his tots, Napolean Dynamite style. I had a bite of his wrap too, it was delicious. This is a great place to go if you are looking for a bar atmosphere with better than average bar food. I will definitely return for more!

Predictably, the place gets absolutely slated on yelp for its mere existence, and that's why I'm giving it an additional star;-) I'm neither Yuppie, nor Hipster, nor Yupster, nor Jockster and have no blind allegiance for, or against any establishment, in any neighborhood, in this fine City of ours. Went to meet a buddy to watch the Championship game, Kansas v Memphis on Monday night. I'd been once before, several months ago, to meet some folks who went to check it out and it was an utter nightmare (admittedly it was fairly late, midnight-ish); people packed in like sardines and the horrendous, ill conceived layout of the place does nothing to help this oft beleaguered and denigrated establishment. However, I thought to myself that it could be a decent place to watch a game given the number of telly's in the place. ANYway, so this time I knew going in, that the only way i'd go was if we go early, and I mean like an hour or two before game time, to assure a seat at the bar and not have to deal w the riff-raff. Worked out great as we sat and enjoyed the whole game, front and center of the bar, drank beers and ate some ave to below ave bar food. We ordered the mini-burgers and mini-pork bbq sandwiches and they came out in less than 5 minutes. They were clearly re-heated and tasted like it...the accompanying fries were not much better, way over crispy and not very warm; tasted as if they'd been sitting for a while. So, in conclusion, I cannot reco the food and I can only recommend the bar itself if you want to watch a game...if so, you wanna arrive early to get a seat, otherwise you're asking for a headache. Oh, and the crowd ? who could tell, as I was *watching the game* and didn't go to see and be seen or meet and be met....I could give a rat about some random no name Joe doing jaegar bombs and whooping it up w his buddies, fair play to him and all that.

boooorrrrriiiiinnnnggg. our first time there was today. i think the best part was their outdoor seating since the weather was amazing. there were 6 of us and we got a table easily. the service was fine, nothing special. i ordered the bbq chick salad, which was topped w/ kraft singles cut up in small pieces (you ain't fooling me, chefs) and made w/ what i like to call "white lettuce" - iceberg. NOT awesome. my husband had the mac & cheese, a 3 cheese mac (parm, cheddar and gorgonzola) which tasted like it was made with, again, kraft singles. NOT awesome, again. definitely not coming back, unless it's for drinks only. i did have the southern tea, which was pretty good.

When the waitress came by and asked us how things were, I was perplexed. We said "fine". But as she walked away, I was like crap, I thought of a better expression... "suburban". It's just not worth the price. Let's just say that they are banking on people being non-foodies who come in there. It's a bar with crap pricey food as far as I am concerned. They do have a nice selection of beers though. But how hard is that to accomplish? Too bad. I thought that it was going to be way better given the amount of money they dumped in the decor. It needs a mushroom cloud.

We used to frequent Boundary on a pretty regular basis; however their service and food have gone downhill. We ordered delivery last night and they forgot our drinks (second time this has happened) and the food was horrible. One of the burgers was completely burnt on the outstide and raw on the inside. I like a medium or medium rare burger but this was raw and cold. We called and they sent us a new burger which wasn't much better. It was still burnt on the outside and completley pink on the inside and cold. The fries and tator tots weren't cooked all the way through and you could taste the raw, cold potato. We will not be going to or ordering from Boundary again. It's too bad becuase we used to think the food was pretty good for bar food. It seems like they just don't care anymore and rush the food.

Boundary is my favorite bar in Wicker Park. I've been to Boundary on a variety of occasions: - Dinner (exclusively) - Lunch (exclusively) - Dropping in to sit at the bar after a walk through the neighborhood - A Night Out - To watch a game It's really perfect for any of these. I really like the comfort-food style menu. I love playing shuffleboard. The TVs are well positioned. And you can get a gift certificate at restaurant.com for $25 off a $35 order that is good Sunday-Thursday. If you look for discount codes online, you can get this gift certificate for no more than $3-4, even immediately before heading out. Since drinks don't count, $35 at Boundary almost requires that two people order an appetizer and desert, so bring your appetite. The best part is that if you're just short, you can buy as many sliders as you need to get to the limit (which I believe are $2).

They have a few veggie options which I appreciate, but I have a question that I'd like to ask their cooks. Why is my food always so spicy here? It's good and all, but jeesh I drink about a zillion waters every time I go.

God, I can't lie. I like this place. Like many residents of the neighborhood, I was miffed when it opened initially. But in all honesty, the food is pretty good, they serve alcohol (and that means you get at least 3 stars from me), and it's got outdoor seating. The crowd is really gener-o and of course they have TVs playing sports. That part is not really my thing. But whatever...for a quick meal for a good price right across from my house, I'll overlook it.

This place is always crowded. That means it's great, right? No. If you want to be packed in while watching your favorite sport, go here. That said, eating lunch outside is a pleasant enough experience - the service is very nice - until, that is, you get your food. Not a fan at all.

Second time here. This time we came for dinner. The service was great! Love the sidewalk eating. I had the fish tacos but I was not impressed. the first time I came was for lunch last summer, had a salad, but i remember it was not memorable and probably why it took me so long to return. Overall. I will probably try them again.

It's nice to have a large bar with plenty of comfortable seating and tv's all around in the city. It reminds me of Yard House in the Glen, sans a parking lot. The beers are decent, the food is typical bar food, although they present it as if it's more upscale and interesting. I was very disappointed with the fried macaroni - it wasn't cheesy at all! Maybe too much frying time or just not enough cheese in the mixture. This place is an easy place when you have no where else to go.

The prices are high for food here...$10-$12 per basic sandwiches is high. Although we had a Gobbler, which was pretty good. The good part is they let you switch beef for Turkey on the burgers. We also had the chicken sandwich which was tasty. They could have given more fries on the plates though, it was kind of bare. The Veggie roasted pepper sandwich is pretty small for the money too. I wouldn't come here without the intention of mostly drinking or if you had a coupon for the place.

Wow, what a disaster. We went here Sunday around 3 for some Sunday funday NFL playoff football. What a disappointment. As soon as we walked inside, we could see there was quite a crowd. We did a quick walk around to find seating, and stumbled across a table...what luck! As soon as my party of 4 sat down, the waitress came over and said we couldn't sit there. What? She said that it was a table for 6, and we only had 4. She then rudely told us to see the hostess for a table, and walked away. Ooohkay. So, we head to the front of the joint, and inquired about a table. The hostess said that there were none available. I pointed out the one at the back of the bar, and she said that was only for a party of 6. So, I asked her were a party of 4 could sit. She went on to tell me that these rounded booths lining the walls were for groups ofd 4, but they were all full. So, I'm inquisitive (read smart ass), and wanted to know how many people you could fit into said booth. She, without hesitation, says "6". So 4 people can fit into a booth that holds 6 people, but not into a table that holds 6??? So, just to sum it up....Boundary had 0 people on it's wait list, a table available, and wouldn't seat us there. Worst of all, they were rude about it. I would never give Boundary another chance, based on this experience. What horrible customer service, and when I asked to speak with the manager about this, the hostess disappeared for 5 minutes. After that, we disappeared too....to another bar, where we ate, drank and were merry for the next 8 hours. After 2 meals (8 hours is a long time!), many beers, and a few shots, we ended up happy, and Boundary ended up with $0 from us. For an rather ordinary joint, they sure were easy to shoo away good business. Try at your own risk....

I work right down the street from this place and call in my orders and they are always accomodating despite my making the situation difficult. The mac and cheese with bacon is phenominal and the burgers aren't bad either.

HANGAR 1 VODKA-----YES! Okay, Chicago is one of the biggest cities, and it's absolutely amazing (and insulting) that very few bars / restaurants serve true "Top-Shelf" Vodkas. But, Boundary does, and it's only $6 a drink, which is bargain basement pricing for this particular Vodka. Now, that I'm in a euphoric Vodka state of mind, let's make the wifey happy. Very extensive beer list (Sammy Smith, Delirium, & Chimay) to list a few, so this puts a big Kool-Aid smile on wifey's face as well! Drunken marital bliss, amongst a great group of friends, and an extensive drink menu is an alcoholics dream start to an evening, but here's why Boundary deserves 5 STARS: This is a classy establishment with TOP-NOTCH SERVICE!!! What I hate more than anything, is when you frequent an establishment and the server (usually female) thinks she / he is too good, or too good looking to offer good service (RAIL on Damen is an example)----not here. In addition to the upscale sports bar atmosphere, the service was second to none! **Great drink menu, great service, great atmosphere, and very reasonable pricing----HIGHLY RECOMMEND, and will definitely return!

I've always wondered over the appeal of this place, and I think it's the spacious area and the number of tvs in here. They also have an outdoor patio which is really nice. It's a typical bar and kind of reminds me of Moe's Cantina except that the music is not as loud and plays a different type of music and more tvs are here. I think that people are a little bit trendier in dress here. I didn't really eat anything in here other than tater tots and they were pretty good. No one else seemed to complain about the drinks, and our waiter Oliver was good about coming around and check in on us. The prices are pretty average, and I could see myself coming back around football season to catch some games.

Nice place, but terrible food. I have been here several times. They have a nice atmosphere and a great beer selection. Unfortunately the food is terrible. I have tried three different dishes and all three were awful. The last time I was there my girlfriend and I both sent our meals back. If your looking for a place to grab a beer and watch hockey you cant go wrong... just eat before you go.

I understand why so many people don't like this place... It is too Lincoln Park... It is too flashy... It is too suburban... Lets be honest, our neighborhood has turned into Lincoln Park Southwest. It was only a matter of time before a bar like this hit our streets. I'll also add that when I first saw The Boundary open, I lifted my nose and practically spit on the sidewalk as I was walking by, shaking my head and mumbling something like, "This is too Lincoln Park," as one sparkling tear fell on my cheek. BUT... I am an avid sports fan. There is just NO bar to watch sports if you live south of Division (like I do). Since I have currently fallen out of love with Mac's, I needed to find someplace new. And I did what every kid does when they are trying something new... Made a squinty face held my nose and walked in the Boundary. The strangest thing happened, I didn't think it sucked. I was mesmerized by all the T.V.s and beer. I went for lunch today and the food was tasty enough for me to drool a little. So, I'm going to roll with it and like it, even though I'm not supposed to.

Just come when all the yahoos aren't there. The place has a great setup, lots of comfortable seating, TV's everywhere. Not bad for a lunch or weeknight dinner. During the summer they bogart so much of that sidewalk that you can almost always get a table in the afternoon. Once I brought my mom and my picky 4 year old niece and it was all good. Would I come here at night, when all those tools will be out on the prowl? Nope.

WHY???? I don't understand why The Boundary is needed in Wicker Park. There is a neighborhood created for this and it is called Wrigleyville. Even walking by it is annoying - as you are blinded by hundreds of flatscreen tv's and deafened by the screaming sports fans. This is like a BW3 that went through Extreme Makeover Home Edition.

We go here to drink. Well, we go here to drink MORE after we've already been drinking. So with that in mind, here's what I have to contribute. Fricken crowded on the weekends. There's not enough space between the bar and the booths in front of it. Our vodka cocktails are always poured strong here - and for CHEAP. Oh, and the multiple televisions are always a plus.

    (3)
  • Sean c.

I've been in the restaurant biz for almost 20 years and last weekend was the worst customer service I have ever seen. While waiting for a table over an hour, we watched the host crew consistently give up table after table and ignore our party. When we finally asked " what's the deal?" The hostess acted liked she didn't see us or couldn't find us. When we asked for a manager, a "pseudo" manager(that's what they called him) approached and said he would take care of our birthday girl because we waited over an hour and NEVER got a table. He bought her 1 drink and thought he had solved our issue. When we asked for the real manager we were told she's in the back and not coming out. Really?! Terrible skills by management and the overall feeling is, we are usually busy so losing some customers is going to happen. BS! Never going back and will evangelize the same to anyone we meet.

  • Vina O.

Very loud, very lively crowd. They have a shuffleboard in the back! Beer/wine/spirit selection is decent. Music is typical club mixes to top 40 hits and music videos play in the big TV screens plastered all over the walls of this place. I totally wanted to dance, but there's no dance floor. :\

  • Amy H.

I met some friends here for some football and beer and thought it was a-ok. Our service was a bit slow. I didn't try any of the food, but they have Guinness on tap and that's all the nourishment that I need. During halftime, give the shuffle board table a try.

This place is your neighborhood bar/eatery with a calm environment, but my rave is the Saturday/Sunday Morning brunch. It's amazing, especially when combined with great mimosas. Worth the visit

It's so pretty inside, and that is what struck me. I instantly had high hopes based solely on the decor and the extensive beer list. They were ultimately dashed the longer we sat, though. Our server was really friendly and cool, but she did the one thing that when servers do it, makes me nervous - she didn't write anything down. They weren't very busy and even though there were six of us, we were an easy table. I had hoped it would all work out alright...but... Our appetizers (hummus -yum- and chips with salsa -boring-) were good but took a while to arrive as did the extra pita we ordered when we ran out. Our food took a while too and oops, oh look, we all have plates in front of us but for one person (who happened to be the guy picking up the tab, nicely done). The server seemed sincere in her concern that it was taking so long, but I saw right through it - she had clearly forgotten to put his turkey burger order in. My Northwoods burger was just ok. Two small pieces of bacon, some forgettable cheddar cheese, a squirt of just-ok bbq sauce... meh. Seasoned, lukewarm shoestring fries... meh. Overall...meh. Refills took forever, no offer of coffee or dessert when we were done. When it was time to pay the check, we had to flag her down from her social time behind the bar. Overall, not a great experience, clearly. The insides are really pretty though, and on this nice day the open-air front was allowing the breeze to flow through the restaurant which I totally enjoyed. Now if they could just get the service up to par I would consider going back, but as of right now I would not and I wouldn't encourage anyone else to either.

I have tried to like this place over and over again. I think the menu is tired, the staff seems tired and now I am finally tired. Today, my wife and I booked to the Boundry (we live nearby) to grab a bite and watch the US Open tennis. We walked up to the hostess and asked if we sat at the emptyish bar, could we eat and ask if one of the 20 TV's could be turned to the tennis. I was told,..."we can't do it, other people have asked and we have told them no too"... So, alas , we left, I didn't want to have the fish tacos again anyway......

OK....Let's get right to it. Rule #1 if I come in to give your establishment money don't t keep me waiting 10-15 for someone to come to the the table. ( We almost walked out). Rule # 2 If you are part of a wait staff and you come to our table in a apologetic manner don't be drunk and smelling of alcohol at 2pm in the afternoon! This was our waitress. Rule # 3 How about you actually come back to the table and check on the people that are supposed to tip you and help your income? Boundary is an "ok" place. Yes well put together. Nice place to watch a game and drink with all the tv's. That's about it. The waitstaff was not great at all. The food was so-so, she barely checked on us but did a lot of socializing with tables of jocks and frat boys. After we had to hunt down a busboy (who was doing more work than her) to get our check she brings the check and THEN ask if we wanted dessert. Uh HELL NO!! We couldn't wait to leave. It's a cool place to drink I guess but you have to be drunk to enjoy this place. I'm sure we could have gotten lunch at a much better place. Boo Boundary.

Here's what this place has going for it: location, menu, decent service, cozy seating (almost always immediately available) and shuffleboard. It's fine. It's not remarkably tasty or notably distinct. But fine. A little annoying that a salad costs $13 but ok. Tots are very good. Nice beer selection, too. And, my bloody mary favoring friends love the BM bar. (And that's Bloody Mary, for you sickies.) Solid Turkey burger. Clean bathrooms. Great fireplace. Haven't had the opportunity to play you yet, dear shuffleboard, but how I still love thee.

I went to The Boundary with some friends last Saturday around 8PM for dinner. Two things to know about me: A) I'm not a sports fan. B) I'm not a "club" fan. I don't mind having lots of TV's mounted playing a game, I expect that. What I wasn't a big fan of was the DJ that was blasting music from the balcony. I understand that just because it doesn't fit my personal taste doesn't necessarily mean that its awful. But this wasn't a club - there was hardly anyone dancing nor any room for it. I found it distracting and annoying; I couldn't talk to the people at my table without saying "WHATT!?" The food was also just OK. I got a Black and Bleu burger, which I usually enjoy from restaurant to restaurant. But the burger itself was bland, and the cheese wasn't bleu at all, but gorgonzola. My friends seemed to enjoy their particular meals, but my cousin and I didn't have anything nice to say about our burgers. An interesting addition in the back of the bar/restaurant was a shuffle board, but this is just another example of Boundary's schizophrenic nature. Is it a sports bar? Is it a club? I can't answer that, and neither can The Boundary.

Yet Another venue on Division street that I have frequented on more than one occasion. (Girls night, coworker happy hours, chill time with my boo). Another place that doesn't disappoint. I am really a fan of their food over some of the other bars in the area. Love the Mac N Cheese Bites and hummus. Also love their buffalo chicken wrap and their dinner plate with the steak, chicken and rice (not sure if that still exists tho as it wasn't on the menu last time I went). No offense to my fare skin friends, but I don't know what it is about white folks and tater tots at the bar which they seem to love. One of my coworkers almost took off my arm when I reached over for one of her mini potato delicacy, so I guess they must be good. I'm indifferent about fried potato at any bar ok! Tons of TVs adorn the walls of the bar if you are trying to catch a game. Great drink specials. Waitstaff is always attentive and friendly. Great place to stop by in the Wicker Park hood.

I can't vouch for the food, but overall not a bad spot to watch the games. They've got plenty of TVs, but the location of some of them are odd to say the least. The bar is definitely the best place to watch the game you want to watch, and the bartenders were very accommodating to the games we wanted to see. The draught selection left something to be desired, but it was a fine place to watch both basketball games that I wanted to at the same exact time...

  • Nicole A.

Holy Moly batman...come here with an appetite. The sandwiches are freaking huge and be sure to order the tater tots as the side. The real delight however is the huge beer menu and the seemingly knowledgeable staff. If you are looking to drink more than a MGD you will be comfortably at home. Just make sure to arrive early if you want to sit, at around 8:30 this place was already packed.

Some of the best bar food in the area and lots of huge televisions. Have not been here to watch a game - gets crowded and if you don't get there early, you may have trouble getting in for a popular game. Love the Cowboy - SW wrap with pulled chicken, the Asian wrap with seared tuna and they know how to make tater tots melt in your mouth (I didn't say it was healthy!). Sunny side up burger is one of the best burgers I have ever had and the breakfast burrito is delicious (packed with artery clogging pig in three different forms!!!) A neighborhood favorite for us.

  • Emily Q.

Upscale bar food. Nothing too special or amazing, but still satisfying. It's a good place to go if you have picky eaters or a big group because everyone can find something they will like. They also have tater tots, which is always a plus, and a ridiculously awesome Bloody Mary bar during brunch (you will be so full you don't even need to order food). If you don't care about your fat intake, try the fried macaroni and cheese bites appetizer-- yum. They also have some nice salads and lighter wraps, too. Outdoor seating is really nice, but be prepared to wait 5-15 min.

We stopped in here after dinner elsewhere, to have a few drinks and to take in the MLB playoff's. It was the tailend of a Sunday night, so most everyone was "coming down" from watching football all day, so it was a pretty upbeat, casual atmosphere. Service at the bar was great. I had a beer and then switched to soda for the rest of the night, without ever having to ask for a refill on my awesome Diet Coke. The family I was with, was also serviced their beer with quickness and a smile. There were many tv's all around the bar, and "bar games" were available in the back. It was a little cold to be outside, but there is outside seating and the windows open floor-length, which would make for a great place to be on a great sunny day.

I was here with a group of 8 people for New Year's Eve 2012. The service was great. We were originally seated at a table. But asked if we can have a booth last minute. They changed our seating no questions ask. Our server Martha I think her name was. Was top notch. She kept the drinks coming all night. This bar organized a great New Years. Not to overly crowded, the place was clean the top shelf drinks were great. I will be back during this year!

I would normally give a place like this three stars for being a big awesome looking space with really cool lighting and hilarious door guys. But the men, ladies, the men! The fourth star is for the MAN CANDY. And oh MY there is a LOT of it. Do not bring your date here, you'll meet 4389734 boys and want a NEW date.

Ah yes, The Boundary. This bar is very aptly named because it straddles the boundary between awful and horrible. The Boundary was one of the worst bar experiences I've ever had. The sterile, uninviting environment combined with the expense, noise level and the overwhelming douche bag infestation made for a pretty loathsome night. Not only was the bar itself a swing and a miss, but our waitress was hammered. She had apparently been taking shots throughout the night and was "on watch" for being too drunk. She was slurring her speech and, not surprisingly, screwed up our check at the conclusion of the evening. She charged us twice for a round of drinks and also charged us for a drink we didn't even order. If it were possible to give The Boundary zero stars, I would. But seeing as Yelp has more pity for such places than I do, Boundary receives one star on a technicality.

The Boundary has set no Boundary at all! I got here Sunny side up burger, it's the one with a fried egg on top, Loved it! They had a great selection of winter beers. I went there during a hawks and bulls game, the bar was full, still had a few tables open. It did not give me that overcrowded over packed feeling. The Mac and cheese side dish is creamy and delicious. You will see me back again.

I ordered takeout from The Boundary tonight as my husband and I had to work late - so can't comment on the service, and am being a little lenient with some portions of my review (might have tasted better if fresher, hotter, etc.) Ordered the Very Berry Salad, Chicken Tenders, Fries and Mac & Cheese Bites. Chicken and fries were soft, soggy, not thoroughly cooked and I don't think they ever were - the chicken was barley cooked through and breading was still very light (not even golden brown that would imply that it used to be better but got soggy in transit) and the fries were just gross. Mac and cheese bites were decent - I would probably have given them 5 stars if ordered at the restaurant; as-is they were probably worth 3. Salad was DISGUSTING - not even edible, and there's no excuse for that. First, the "pecan crusted chicken." It was sort of blue tinted, didn't look like pecans, and smelled weird. I tried a bite - tasted like bad berries and cardboard - completely dry and inedible, but fortunately easy to pick off and throw away. The lettuce was very wilted and some pieces were just nasty, wet, limp clumps sticking to other pieces of more edible lettuce. I should have been skeptical about the berries, I suppose, as November isn't exactly berry season, but I've seen lots of delicious raspberries and blackberries in the grocery stores lately so I didn't think it would be a problem. WRONG!! Not a single berry was good, and I tried several. The strawberries all had mushy spots and looked like they should have been thrown away a couple days ago. The blackberries and blueberries tasted sour and overripe. To top it off, the "citrus vinaigrette" tasted mostly like lemon juice and oil, with just a hint of "vinaigrette" flavor. My husband and I shared the mac and cheese bites and a frozen pizza when we got home. *sigh*

This place is chill. Stopped by for my girlfriend's birthday and they gave us a table with no advanced notice. The hostesses and servers were very friendly and the other people around us were friendly too. I like the big booths. Good place to watch a game.

I appreciate the beer selection at this place, and the burgers are amazing. The service that I've had is something to be desired, though they do a decent job if you have a large party, that is for sure. I've not been here for late night, but usually a pre-cursor to the beginning of a late night so i cannot review in terms of what type of crowd comes in here after 10. It's a pretty loud place with high ceilings, and the plethora of tv's makes it a great place to catch a ballgame.

Thank you all for coming. I feel that our investment firm can make a substantial profit through investing in this area known as Wicker Park in Chicago. Specifically, we can satisfy a niche market for the monied relatively new residents of this vibrant area by giving them a proven commodity for the upper middle class. To this end, I propose that we open a 'jack of all trades' sportsbar/brewpub hybrid. We can decorate it exactly like the Champps Americana chain to make the clientele feel at ease through a familar, comfortable atmosphere that they are used to from their childhood in the western suburbs. We can leave an exposed loft style to celebrate its urbane locale, and have a respectable beer selection to draw in those of discriminating tastes. We'll have a flatscreen on every available bit of wall space to satisfy the area sports fans, even the mens room! Plus we can serve tater tots,as those kids love their kitsch and will bolster the aforementioned associations to childhood. Oh those wacky tots. We'll hit paydirt, gentlemen, paydirt.

I'll be persnickety and give it 3.25 stars. The food was decent. My friend had the fish tacos and they were much spicier than she expected. I had the filet mignon sandwich, which was tasty. They have about 30 "craft beers" for you to choose from, which all you beer connoisseurs should appreciate. We were there on a Wednesday night and got seated right away. It wasn't terribly crowded, but I imagine it gets that way when there's a big game shown on their TVs. Our server was very nice, although she did disappear for a while. You know the weirdest thing about this place? I seriously felt like I was in the suburbs, except with good looking young people instead of families. It was strange...The Boundary has this odd sterile feel about it. It could easily be a restaurant on the perimeter of a mall somewhere. Maybe it's because it's brand new and there's no smoking anymore. Still, I'd still go back. EDIT: Huh. Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks this place is "suburban"

Yeah, it has a Lincoln-Park-Junior feel to it, but the food more than makes up for it (the Fiesta Burger is outstanding), the beer list is extensive (though not cheap), and they care about those there to watch the game. In fact, they'll often label TV's depending on what will be on, and the hostess will ask what you're there to watch and try to seat you appropriately. Not only that, the DJ is really on the ball when it comes to playing music during commercial breaks, and going back to game audio afterwards -- doesn't miss a beat. Plus, they have a shuffleboard table in back. Check out the bloody mary bar on Sundays...again, not cheap, but well done.

Great outdoor seating for the summer. Good vibe on the inside, with plenty of TVs to watch your favorite game. Seems like it draws a nice, mixed crowd, but predominately the 25-35 category. Food was pretty good, and definitely a wide variety on the menu. Would definitely go back

Came in here for the second time this weekend. Always people to match, good service. And it was packed but not overcrowded. I enjoy this place. But it can be hit or miss at times

C'mon now! A t.v over the pee pee stall? There's no way I can give this place less than 3 stars for that reason. We were looking for a place to watch game 7 of the AL championship, and came across this old warehouse turned flat screen palace. Sunday night football and the AL championship at once. How sweet life is, how sweet it is. With my experience at Moonshine, I thought this was going to be full of douche-y people, but I was wrong. Most people here that night were there to watch a game. Maybe on another night, I would have said otherwise, but this night was pleasant. We sat next to the window which happens to fold in half and roll up out of the way like a garage door. I want one too! "Ummm...is that Koby Jones?" "What?" "Koby Jones! Is that him outside?!" "Yeah...yeah it is. Man, he is short. I'm short, but he's short too. That's pretty cool. Who wudda thought he'd be out on Wicker Park." "Yeah, maybe downtown. Hmmm... first we see him at the game, and now here. Funnier if we see David Beckham....hahaha" "Yup, he's right there." "What?" "He's right there!" "Stop staring like an idiot, and go say hi!" Well, who would have thought we'd see these two lads in Wicker Park? Now this is my cousins favorite joint. She shook Beckham's hand, and now loves this restaurant for it. We had an onion-goat cheese-artichoke dip. Tasteful, not bad. My cousin had a salad, and eeeek...it had way too many tomatoes. Seriously, waaaaay too many. If you order a salad, ask for light on the tomatoes. The beers are ridiculously expensive. If you're gonna have a long night, just order something cheap on tap. It's a yuppity yup place, but I would be back just to watch a game or 15 at once.

So I live in Lakeview but I frequent the Wicker Park/Bucktown because my boyfriend lives there. I've read so many reviews about this bar and everyone says that it's such an "LP bar" or it "belongs in Wrigleyville." Well I personally don't see much of a difference between so many of the Lakeview/LP bar and WP/Bucktown bars besides all the WP/Bucktown bars lack TVs to watch games. This bar is great because it has so many different TVs and nice big booths to watch any game! The food menu is great and the beer menu is spectacular! I love drinking all different types of beer and they have just that! They even have Great Lakes beer and that's my hometown brew! I even kind of want to try the PB&J Burger...but I'm kind of scared (I'll let you know if I try it). I'm sure I would hate this bar on the weekends because it's most likely full of the same people at every other bar in this city, but during the week it's a good choice. I only wish more bars like this would open in the neighborhood!

We enjoyed the food and our server...but need to address this concern. Just got home tonight. Second time there with friends for dinner and drinks. Tonight was just horrible. First I do want to say the server was great. We tipped her about 30%. She is probably the only reason why we kept our cool. We waited over 2 hours for a table. We arrived around 6:40 and were told it would be 1 hour wait. Not a problem for us to wait for 1 hour for a place that doesn't take reservations. After 1 hour, we approached the hostess to see how much longer. We were not given an exact time how much longer it would take. Half hour later, we asked again. We were then told that they do not turn over tables during sport games (NFL playoff game) even though we noticed no one was eating or ordering drinks on a regular basis. They allow their customers to sit all night when they are extremely busy. We then noticed 2 tables opened right next to one another. We were given the answer, we did not think you wanted those tables. Then, after 2 and half hours, we decided it would be okay to split our tables because we were starving (8 people). And these tables were not near each other and one right next to the blazing hot fireplace. When we were seated, the hostess threw the menus on our table and walked away with an attitude. Interesting enough, the manager never came by to talk to us (three requests) 9 bucks for the peanut butter and jelly burger (very tasty) 3 bucks for the fries (my favorite) 9 bucks for the fish tacos (very tasty) Having not to sit next to your friends that came from out of town for dinner..... WORTHLESS

Ok, so I've been here several times and it's the same story over and over again! The service sucks!! Even on slow days it takes forever for anyone to come to your table and take your order. The thing that irritates even more is when you are watching all the servers sit by their station having a good ole long conversation with each other. Now, this is just sitting at the tables. I'm sure sitting at the bar would be a better story. The food is ok. Typical bar food. As far as the ambiance, I do like the place. They do have a lot of tv's to watch any number of games and it does get fun when everyone is cheering for the same team. If you are looking to have a beer and just relax and enjoy a game on tv with a bar full of people, this is the place. Just bring a lot of patience!!

  • Tom S.

I was there on a Saturday during an NFL playoff game and I couldn't tell I wasn't in Lincoln Park. Packed, hard to get the bartenders' attention, no place to sit and people were constantly bumping into me. Kind of annoying when you're there to get a drink and catch the game. The 2nd star is for the fact that it is a nice place, tons of plasma TVs and good looking people. Maybe I'll stop in on a weeknight to see if it's any better.

So, after the wine tasting at A*Vision on Friday, me and the girlies walked up to Division for some food. Not wanting to go far in the humid hell that is Chicago on a July night, we decided on Boundary. There's nothing spectacular about this place. It's like Bennigans with outdoor seating. It was fine for getting some grub and having a few drinks, but their wine list had 3 whites on it, which I find annoying, seeing that it's a restaurant. I understand that their focus is beer (3 whites to about 25 beer selections) but that also kind of determines the clientele and the vibe. Take your cousin from Pittsburgh here and you'll have a decent time. A New Yorker, LA-er, and a Michigander with a Londoner's mindset? Eh, not so much. The food was okay...nothing to write home about. 2.5 stars.

I think I could eat at The Boundary everyday. I live in the neighborhood and The Boundary has become a frequent meeting spot for me and my friends. First off, the food is always great. Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Mac and Cheese Bites, Buffalo Chicken, Pulled Pork, Tator Tots, Salads... I like it all. My only complaint would be the burgers. Two out of the three times I have ordered a burger it has come out burnt. I order medium. My medium is pink in the middle. Their medium has no pink in the middle and is very charred on the outside with a slight burnt taste. Yuck. A sports bar must have a good burger. Please give the burger chef some lessons... Our service has always been outstanding. Yesterday I was there with a group of 10. The waitress was 5 star. Not only did she get everyones orders right (with many adjustments), she also did 10 separate checks without asking us. That was GREAT! Saved us from a headache in the end of trying to divy up the bill. That alone can ruin a good lunch. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The Sunday Bloody Mary Bar also looks amazing! There are a zillion (well, maybe not quite) toppings you can add to your drink. My friends that have tried it have given it rave reviews. Boundary... keep the good stuff comin'! Just please, please work on your burgers...

This place made me angry. With as many televisions that this place has, you would think I would have no problem watching the Cubs game on one of them. You would think... but you would be wrong. It took me and half a dozen other patient patrons to get the manager change the channel. The only reason why I give this place any stars is because they had a decent beer selection and the other half a dozen other Cubs fans I met here were really cool. Who woulda thunk some of the nicer people in Wicker Park are hanging out in this joint? Not me, but I would have been wrong again.

My 200th review??? Shut up! :D Anyway... I had a really good time here on New Years Eve (07-08, whaaat?!). It was a last minute decision but a friend and I managed to scrounge up 3 other friends and we all headed here. The drinks kept a-rollin' (pretty cool beer selection, by the way) and we were having a blast. I love the atmosphere (very chill with a hint of classy...but not so classy that you feel uncomfortable); the crowd is pretty decent as well. They didn't seem immature and they certainly weren't annoying (both on New Years Eve and on any other given night). Best part of the night, though -- walking through the blizzard at the end of the night (in heels), trying to hail a cab. There were too many people crowding Damen and Division; it was impossible yet oh so fun/funny. I remember giving one of the mylar balloons I stole from The Boundary to some man standing in front of the Chase Bank on the corner... Dude, if you're out there -- I still have my balloon somewhere! Do you??? :P

i went to this place yesterday! I gotta say I really did like it. The drinks were good and the PREMIUM beers were NOT over priced. I mean just DONT order the on tap stuff, like mgd, pabst etc....thats IS over pricedyoull enfd up paying like $5.00 for a lite. Get a premium beer again! then you end up paying the same thing for something much better like a 3 floyds Gumball etc...... Screens everywhere!!! I was watching the Sox , and Basketball at the same time ! And dont hate Hipsters......I was born and raised in this hood and I gotta tell you Boundary just makes it better!

I have been to boundry more than a few times and every time I am very satisfied with their food. I usually go for dinner. They have good selection of salads and I love their tomato bisque. Its a good place if you want to have a beer and eat a good meal. Their Fish Tacos are the best i've ever had! A must try!

  • Tung L.

Overall experience itself was terrible, but it had nothing to do with the restaurant itself, the customers there that day were just complete douchebags. People yelling and screaming right next to us on a Sunday at clips from sports center, not even a game! Even the wait staff was pissed! But fortunately the wait staff and food made up for the crappy people hanging out there that day. Its typical bar style food so don't expect something exotic, but sometimes a guy just needs normal food.

    (4)
  • Tasha K.

Meh. It is what it is--- a sports bar w/ bar food. They just make it look nice. Everything tastes fine but nothing jumps out as a "must eat." I only end up there when I must eat with picky boring eaters. Whateve's.

    (2)
  • Stephanie H.

Nothing too exciting. I've been here for brunch, hungover...the only way you really should eat here. Good Bloody's, decent burgers. The atmosphere is kind of blah, TVs everywhere...ok to watch a game. Last time I was here our waitress was terrible, not impressed...she was just kind of wierd and annoying, the clingy type. Points for the shuffle board and decent amount of outdoor seating in front. Don't expect too much.

    (2)
  • Melissa B.

I am reviewing this place based on the food alone. I have gone here numerous times for lunch as it is not far from my job. The food is ALWAYS outstanding. I have never had a bad thing here. My favorite is the fish tacos and the warm molten chocolate cake. Service is always quick and it never seems to be busy around lunchtime which is good for the working folk. I am so glad I found The Boundary! P.S. they also play the best music!

I absolutely adore this bar! I'm not a Wicker Park inhabitant, but I've been frequenting the area as of late, and so far, I find this to be the most impressive establishment on the block. The service is phenomenal! The bartenders are incredibly friendly and are an excellent resource when trying to sift ones way through the copious beer selection. The bathrooms are immaculate and the overall aesthetic is clean and visually pleasing. I love the layout of the bar and the free shuffleboard! You can say what you like about the crowd, but I found them to be very pleasant and I adore the lack of pretension in this bar that seems to abound in the area. It's perfect for a low-key evening. I have yet to try their food, but what I saw looked amazing. I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!

  • Lauren T.

Great food and great service has this place climbing the charts. It just opened last week but the crowd seems to be the typical Northside yuppie. Try the peanut butter and jelly burger - sounds gross but it is delicious! Lots of TVs so a great place to watch a game!

    (5)
  • Kristen W.

REALLY not my type of joint and it is so out of place on Division! It looks like the North Face version of Wildfire. Or a sports bar mixed with a mountain lodge. There is a somewhat impressive beer list. The food was completely expected and I thought it was over priced. I spent more money here on some drinks, a burger that I split with someone, and an appetizer, than I have spent at Tank Sushi in Lincoln Square. That's saying a lot. The only way I'd hit this spot again is if they had a fab beer special or there was nowhere else nearby with an outdoor patio & an empty seat.

  • Eliza M.

Given the particular quest I was on (see list), I should've known better. But, I came in a few times during not-quite-peak hours and was able to appreciate a few things about the place while sitting at the bar - namely, the bartender was cool, the beer selection was good, it certainly met my TV/station needs, and all the dark woodwork in the place is kind of nice. As feared, by around visit #3, true colors had been revealed: whether there's a game on or not, this is a place to go only if you yearn for the frat boys and the sloppily drunk chicks of your youth. (Or, if you are a frat boy or sloppily drunk chick... well, cheers). I'm tempted to give it a bonus star for these little tiny pulled pork sandwiches that were really, really good... but I just can't.

Great beer selection and we have yet to find a bad item on the menu. Nice open feeling and very friendly staff.

Food and drink might be a 3-star, but their shuffleboard takes them up to a 4.

  • Andrea S.

Well I'd be able to give it more stars if I'd actually tried the food but this is just a review on the drinks and atmosphere. I really liked the style, great decoration and there is a lot of seating. The TV's look great, all on sports ofcourse. I didn't count them but maybe they have 10 ? It was packed out on a weeknight and we got seated right away. Our waitress was very nice, and I dont have any complaints about her, usually they don't come back when you want something or come back too often but she wasn't like that. There was rock/techno music over the speakers. A notch or two too loud for me. They have a nice beer list! All my faves, and some specialty ones. They didn't have any specials on Thursday night on food or drinks. The food looked really good, good variety. I'll have to go back again and try some.

A great mix of sports bar/restaurant. In a lively neighbourhood, outside seating during summers, any football game that your heart desires to watch, good food and reasonably priced drinks. Every time I have gone here I have met fun people. I think it is the aura in there that makes all happy and more friendly.

    (4)
  • Allison B.

Dear Boundary, I liked you so much more when you had those yummy steak skewers on the menu.

    (4)
  • Joe K.

Surprisingly, the Boundary is our local kid friendly lunch/brunch/early dinner joint that's not Milk and Honey. The waitstaff is attentive, the food is better than your ordinary course pub grub and the shuffleboard can keep your little ones entertained whilst you furtively pound a few drinks.

This place keeps getting better. It's bar food don't get me wrong but the menu and service gets better with each visit.

I agree that boundary brings some of that lakeview/yuppy/wrigley feel, but the service and the food really do a good job of almost making up for it. The salads are delicious (stay away from the buffalo chicken one though... i'm pretty sure they just cut up some kraft singles on lettuce and add buffalo strips for that one). My kettle one dirty martini's were excellent, and $10, which I think is on the lower side for good martini. Open air windows and outdoor seating? Be still my heart. Places like the boundary that make Chicago summer what it is and always win my favor. The missing star is for my waiter's graphic tee. He looked like Express for Men had wrestled him into a storage closet and stolen all his real clothes. Not cool, buddy. And lay off the hair gel. Definitely check it out when you're feeling a little more open to the wrigley vibe.

  • Corey B.

As far as sports bars go, the drink selection is great, but overpriced; the menu is varied and the food is consistently average. Watch out, though if you go when it is busy because you will be charged a different price for each round of drinks--READ YOUR TAB--it has happened more than once and it is really hard to argue for your money back. At least the service is friendly and there is enough space to enjoy a game. I still wouldn't ever call it my first choice.

Came here for a last-minute dinner with a couple girlfriends, one of whom had a restaurant.com coupon that was about to expire. I had no idea what to expect, was just looking forward to some kid-free time, decent grub, and conversation (i.e. gossip haha) with friends. Little did we know it was a hockey bar and it was Blackhawks v Redwings. Um, duh. We could have researched this a little better. The space is great, and it's an ideal place to watch whatever sporting event is going on. However I couldn't give 2 sh--- about hockey :) So they squeezed us in at a table parked in a passageway to the restrooms and a back way to the kitchen. I sucked in my chubby self as much as I could while patrons and staff balancing things precariously on trays passed behind me. We had a good time trying to talk over the game (and dang it was LOUD or maybe I'm just getting old), I only got knocked a couple times, the food was decent, and our server was very pleasant (though they forgot our app and brought it after our entrees). In my opinion, this is a great place to go on a non-hockey night if you live in the 'hood (or if you're a hockey fan of course); but please take this with a grain of salt because I'm a frumpy SAHM on the far NW side :) Oh, and not sure if this place is really for kids, but there were kids' items on the menu.

  • Melissa B.

I like it! This is a great place to watch a game, or every game thats on that day. They have a lot of flat panels with every game on at least one screen. Below the screens there is a list of what games will be displayed on that particular tv that day. Nice addition to the hood. We ate lunch here last weekend as well. It was good. I had a veggie wrap and tater tots! mmmmm. The bf had the fish tacos and they were damn good. They also have shuffle board and horseshoes (the eating kind-a Springfield, IL thing). Oh, and they have an awesome beer selection! Go here!

  • Christine A.

I don't think this place is $$$ (3 dollar signs) . I didn't find it to be over-priced. I thought is was resonable. I actually liked the place. I think a lot of people in the neighborhood are resistant because it seems yuppy. I tried it and I thought the food was decent and the beer list was surprisingly extensive. To be honest, I rather have good warm food at a decent price than pay 10 dollars for a sandwich's from Jerry's next door. I am not a huge sports fan, but I think it is cool that you can see a large screen television from any seat in the house. Service was okay. Young. The hostess was apathetic and seemed kind of angry when we interrupted her latest Sophie Kinsella book. But the waitress was nice. This place beats out Piece hands down.

    (4)
  • Steve M.

Ok so the good is the fact that they have a lot of TV's to watch sports on, and plenty of places to sit since it is mostly all tables and booths. The bad was the food it was definitely nothing to write home about. We had the asian beef skewer appetizer which was the best part of the meal. The chicken pita was just not good at all and the service left something to be desired. It was a Sunday late afternoon the place was pretty empty yet it took forever to get refills, water, the check, and everything else we asked for. I will definitely try something else before I go back.

  • Jason S.

A group of us went there for drinks the other night, and low and behold, we stayed until closing. Not sure if the fact that I "closed" it is a comment on me or the bar.... Let's start with the bartenders - on the ball and on top of their game. The place was busy but I still got great service. Holla! The beer selection is great, they have tons of bottles of craft beers and 10+ on tap. They have a sweet shuffleboard table in the back, sand and all. Frustratingly fun. There were some comments on here regarding how many TVs there are and that it is a chain, or whatever. I think it is a nice addition to the neighborhood, how many more slacker dens do you need in Wicker/ Bucktown? Didn't eat here, so cannot comment on the food. The menu did look limited.

  • Josh C.

This place is great! That is, if your opinion of "great" is paying $5 for a 12oz Coors Light. Or, if you're a girl who just can't wait to get into a semi-exclusive relationship with a complete D-bag for the night. Or, if you you have no dignity, and you're looking for a place to waste your time. I'll pass.

  • Katherine R.

The staff was really pleasant for a busy Sunday-morning brunch crowd. The place is pretty big and was packed around 1-2 p.m. on a Sunday- FYI. I got the omelette, old boy got the brunch sandwich deal. Mine wasn't bad except for the fact that it was 8 dollars- every additonal ingredient was 50 cents. I'm talking cheese- anything; kind expensive for just an omelette and that is without anything in it! But my creation was good, it came with a brick, yes a brick of hash browns and a lil bit of fruit. Bloody Mary's were just what I need. Needless to say, I left woozy and full.....

    (3)
  • Crystal P.

OK while i still think the food is good... I finally went at night. The bartender was awesome, but to get in we had to wait in line!? We would have left but there were friends inside waiting... They were letting 1 person in for every 1 who left .. or so they said.. Inside was douche mania like Lincoln park threw up their undesirables .... yea that bad.

  • Andrew K.

I believe in going to different neighborhoods and places for their strengths. You don't go to Chinatown and eat French fare, or go to New Orleans and eat pizza. With that being said although many people I know hate the boundary, its not wicker park, its always crowded...blah blah... it isn't that bad, the prices aren't bad, the food isn't bad, you get the idea.

    (3)
  • Quantas G.

Boundary represents what the establishments on this part of Division embody. I like gentrification. I like classic sports bar food with a twist. I'm a fan of ten thousand TVs. I'm partial to cute waitresses. And as I grow to love beer, their selection is pretty decent. I've had the pulled pork sandwich (yum), the sliders (yum again) and the hashbrowns. Good stuff.

    (4)
  • Sally R.

Busy place, liked the Mimosa bar, cool surroundings in a funky part of town. Not cheap though and parking is a pain on Division so many places you cannot park!

  • Niko K.

I've never been here for the night-life, so I cannot speak of it. I have however, been there for lunch and my food has always been pretty good. Not outstanding, but pretty good. It's appealing inside too. Good place to watch sports on their many TV's on a Saturday afternoon. Oh, and if you are somehow in the mood for a steak wrap, order it!

I really don't want to like this place, but it's grown on me. Their "Boundary Mixed Grill" entrée is pretty great.

  • B S.

Sure, Boundary feels like Lincoln Park West, so why do I keep coming back??? Great beers, lively atmosphere, clean tables, lots of presentable relaxed and cool patrons, and reliably tasty food that's not overpriced. Outdoor sidewalk seating in the warmer weather with your dogs is what makes Wicker Park and Boundary so great!

I was here on a Sunday for drinks for a couple of hours with 8 other people/drinkers and our bill came out to 58! Niiice. Can't comment on the food though, but I can comment on the long lines on the weekends. Ugh! Update: Good bar food. I'd go here over Mac's and Moonshine.

  • Nancy D.

Went there on a Sunday afternoon. The place is big. The service was friendly. Our server was attentive. However the food was not up to par. I ordered the buffalo. Which is a chicken sandwich. It was not good. Plain sandwich withe buffalo sauce on the side. The gorgonzola was non existant. My friend ordered the buffalo wings too salty no kick to them. The gaucamole was just ok not much flavor. The special was stuffed mushroom caps wit goat cheese. Those were good. Another friend had the pineapple pork tacos and said they were good. The drinks were good. Strong bloody marys and Kettle and sodas. Looks like a good place to go catch a game but wont be going back for the food.

  • Laura B.

Its okay I wouldn't go out of my way to go here - but the menu is cool - from chicken wings to burgers, salads and even some meatloaf - its a nice variety. Our waitress was a little wacked - she would ask questions and walk away before we could answer, I ate a salad - it was OK. All in all if you want to hang with some friends and you need a place to meet up where everyone can find something to eat/drink then this might be your spot - just don't expect to be blown away by awesomeness.

  • Jim P.

Nothing unique here. The food is fine. The service was fine. The selection of beers and menu choices was fine. It was packed during the Bears game and pre-Blackhawks. I won't be back if I have a choice.

I've only been here to eat, and it has always been great! I LOVE the turkey burger, so delicious. I would go back just for the turkey burger, which is kind of weird for me. But it was that good.

Went for sunday brunch right at 10am when they opened. Wanted to check out the website-touted bloody Mary bar. Gotta say this place did not disappoint at all. Large food portions, and reasonably priced fare for the area. Bloody mary bar had plenty of fix-ins (veggies, cheese, etc). Seemed like a stellar place to start a long Sunday of sports and drinking, just get there earlier for preferred seating. The place was pretty empty for about an hour after opening up, and then quickly got busy. Fun atmosphere, lots of TVs, a good food. Minus 1 star for popularity/crowded.

I must say, some of the reviews for this place are HILARIOUS! While I would rather not have an infestation of sports bars in Wicker Park, it is nice to have one at least, not to mention that side of Division is gentrifying as it is (I call it yuppy w/o the attitude and pretention of Lincoln Park). There definitely seems to be some class not typically associated w/ most sports bars (should I call it a sports lounge maybe??). The craft brews they offer are pretty unique for a sports bar. Being a huge sucker for Belgium's, I decided to start w/ the Leffe Blonde which was awesome... crisp, smooth, and pretty high in alcohol content. For food I had the Rio Grande burger w/ pepper jack cheese, onion petals, jalapeno slices, and a chili aioli sauce. The burger was quite delicious. Beware, the jalapenos are hot as hell, so you might want to get them on the side or take a few of em out!!! I loved the fact that you could choose between fries, onion petals, and tater tots as the side... as you probably guessed, I totally went for the tater tots. Portions are huge as well, I could only eat half of my meal. W/ my meal I had a Founders Dirty Bastard which was pretty good and had a smoky, rich flavor to it. Next time I want to try the Unibroue Maudite and some of the other beers. Again, the selection was pretty sweet for a sports bar. I can understand why hipsters would hate this place... a sports bar is pretty much as anti-hipster as it gets. But I would have to say it has a distinct Wicker Park flair, and the crowd isn't nearly as bad as that in Lincoln Park or Wrigleyville. If you live in the area and are into any sports at all, come here for great food and great beer w/ a decent crowd... it will not disappoint!

It's a sports bar for sure, but it has a good selection of drinks and food, all of which I've had have been good. Generally a younger crowd and gets packed for big games. The patio outside is great in the summer like other Division St bars. Definitely a spot to stop if you are bar hopping down division.

Wings and the mac and cheese are banging. This place is pretty big and seems to be an awesome place for a sports bar.

Another split review. Let me preface this by saying that, like most reviewers, I am torn. I want to hate the Boundary for everything it represents happening to UV/WP that I despise - the invasion of the Baby Strollers, the adoption of the Sports Bar, the resurgence of the Polo Shirt, the herds of Trixies, and the building of Crap Condos (which unfortunately brought the aforementioned to UV/WP in the first place). The annoyance factor is high, and I wanted to hate it from the get go. I refused to go for a solid couple of months. And then I got roped in by the large outdoor patio by being a dog owner, having an empty belly, a hankering for a gin + tonic on a hot summer's day off, and a trusted foodie friend who was persuasively standing behind their food. And really, I do try to reserve judgment, even when annoyed by these types that make me cringe. They could be the nice people, I tell myself, and I could be the asshole. It's all about perspective. Long story short, I'd recommend trying it out for the FOOD and PATIO - once we sat down on the patio and I grazed the menus (beer and food) my stomach cheered and praised the offerings. And once the food arrived, my stomach practically grabbed the plate and licked it clean. The food really is great for a more upscale sports bar offering. It's no gastro heaven like Schwaa, and it's not fine dining in the most marginal sense, but it's pretty damn good when compared to the other neighborhood eating spots. Note: The above statement excludes Small Bar, which holds a dear spot in my heart with their cheese curds and f*cking awesome beer list. My friend swears by the fish tacos. I heart the bbq pulled pork. But the item that completely sold me... I had a craving for Queso one day and literally walked up and down Division to discover that the Boundary was the ONLY place that served it, and it was damn good Queso at that! The irony of my mission - after checking Picante, Adobo Grill and Angels + Mariachis - was in discovering that the last place I would have suspected was the only place that served Queso. (Noticed the cheese trend yet?) This still baffles me, and I do admit that if I could have found it elsewhere I would have opted there over Boundary, but only based on my suspicions that this place breeds stupid people. I will be back to try their brunch, as I've been plied with "No, seriously, it's good" by one too many friends, but otherwise I'll stick to the patio in the summertime.

Good food. Great service with kids (although not really a kids joint). We had a very patient server who treated wonderfully. The beer was tasty and the sweet potato fries rocked! I would also recommend their "make your own Bloody Mary" Sundays. When I move to Bucktown, I'll definitely be a regular.

I've been to Boundary a few times and am usually pretty happy: good food, good spot for drinks but.... I stopped here for a quick dinner with friends before heading out the other night. Everything was good, waitress was pretty spacy, but oh well we have all had those days...Then I go to the bathroom AFTER eating. As I am washing my hands the hostess comes out of one of the stalls with a STACK OF MENUS, and proceeds to exit the bathroom WITHOUT washing her hands! So gross, I am never eating here again!

Sports bar in Wicker Park? Oh the blasphemy! Yes, I get it that Wicker Park is not the type of neighborhood that would usually boast a bar with beacoup plasmas catering to people wearing lots of Abercrombie & Fitch and Banana Republic. But there's a reason why the places is packed the way it is. Because there are no other sports bars in the neighborhood! It's like that story about the shoe sales reps. When the head of the shoe company told his two sales reps that they were going to be responsible for heading up a new store in Africa, one sales rep said "No one wears shoes in Africa!" (with trepidation at doing what hasn't been done) while the other said "No one wears shoes in Africa!" (with excitement at doing what hasn't been done). This is not to say that the folks behind The Boundary were thinking that far ahead when they opened the place up. But if you're going to open up a sports bar, why even bother trying to compete with a gagillion of other sports bars in Lincoln Park and Lakeview when you can have the yuppie market all to yourself in Wicker Park. As for the actual place itself -- great microbrew selection (lots to choose from, I recommend the Breckenridge Vanilla Porter) and tasty burgers (you definitely get your money's worth in terms of portion size, if you get the Fiesta Burger, be sure to ask for the jalapenos on the side because they add a major KICK to the burger) make this place worth the visit. They have a ton of plasmas, though viewing can be difficult if you're looking at the TV's above the bars because that's where everyone tends to congregate. Prices are a bit high but still reasonable. Service is decent considering how crowded the place can get. I can understand why hipsters would dislike the place but if you judge it at face value, I think it's alright. Plus there's always that old rule that if you don't like an establishment, then don't go there. It's fine to bemoan the gentrification of the neighborhood if that's what you so desire. But I don't think it's fair to knock this place because they figured out how to capitalize on an opportunity (if the Boundary didn't set up shop there then some other sports bar would've eventually found a spot somewhere on Division).

Compared to everyone else's review I really liked it. I did go on a Sat afternoon for lunch. (stayed by the fireplace for warmth which tremendously helped me) The food i actually liked. I had a burger with gorgonzola, avacado and bacon. I had mine with tater tots. Now my son had a burger and he had their fries. (NOT good) They are shoe string fries with some type of seasoning on them. If they had a lighter hand in this seasoning it would've been a taste sensation. But both my son and I thought it was too much. On the whole I liked it alot

This place gets 4 stars not for the food, but for the patio in the summer months and the fairly decent beer list. I'm not a wine kind of gal (although the occiassional sangria is a must-have). This place offers some favorite beers of mine, but also a few new ones which was a nice surprise when I get there. Always a plus.

Seriously... they have tater tots as a side dish! I don't know what it is about these delicious little morsels but once I hear the word, tater and tots together, I suddenly get a "child-like" excitement and begin to clap my hands! Weird I know... considering it's probably your Ore-Ida tots that you can buy at your local grocery store; but still... Overall, this is a pretty spacious bar/restaurant. It's a good place to meet up with a friend for a drink or have a meal. There's no pretentiousness with the place or the people. Nice job in renovating what once used to be a mechanics garage.

I only had an appetizer here, the mac and cheese bites, which were actually really good and I am not really a big mac and cheese fan! I actually liked the vibe at this place, it was dark, had a lot of TV's, fireplace, and shuffleboard. We had a good time on that snowy Sat Dec 17th! Our friends that ate there said they had "really good greasy bar food"

Bottomline: great eats, decent beer selection, very friendly staff, awesome place to watch games, incredible hand-dryers. Some friends of mine and I camped out here New Year's Day from 11am to 11pm to watch the bowl games. Anywhere we sat, we could see one of the games played during the packed NYD schedule. We sampled each appetizer, each very good. I've taken my friends there. I've taken my parents there. I've even taken my nephews and nieces (ages 1-11) there.

Good looking wait staff, socialable. If you want some of the hottest wings in the city, this place has them. Very impressive! Good mix of football games on Sundays, just not enough Televisions. I will come back

Boundary is a roomy sports bar with a barn-like high ceiling and TV screens all around. You don't go to Boundary because you are looking for an exquisite dining experience or to enjoy a mild evening sipping martinis with your associates. You go here because you want to be as loud as you like enjoying a night out with your buds.

The food is surprisingly delicious and the menu has enough variety to offer something for everyone. Nice beer list but could use a few more crafts on tap. The taps are mostly overrun by the giants. I had a delicious turkey sloppy joe that was on special and I would eat it again right now if I could. Our service (Mandy) was friendly and attentive and generally awesome.

Sweet Jebus, Boundary, I f$#%^ hate you. I do. I was all ready to come in here, complain about the food, dissect the wait staff, ridicule the annoying patrons, basically put you on the "never will I ever come back here again" list. Then you pull a 180 on me. F#*( you..... The bosses were celebrating their birthdays and wanted to ring in here. I was tired, cranky and desired to curl up in my bed in the worst way possible. I finally parked and walked in, taking notice of the "bro" crowd dining outside. Hmmm... then when I walked in... I noticed the huge space, flat screens all over the place, exposed brick, high ceilings.... I like.. I like... our waitress, Jessica, was friendly and upbeat and on top of things. I perused the drink menu, oh look, a pretty nice beer list. And they list all their liquors, what vodka, gin, whiskey etc.... lovely. The after trying some of the appetizers, the red pepper hummus had a nice kick to it. The queso was... well a little cheesy, well seemed like not the real kind. I will say the seasoned pita triangles were quite quite tasty. The chicken quesadillas were not over flowing with cheese, (which is not a bad thing), and the guacamole was pretty tasty. I was feeling boring and went with the chicken sandwich with cheese, avocado and jalapenos and a side salad. The chicken was a good size, the jalapenos were raw, (finally I don't have to have freakin' pickled ones!!), and the otherwise mundane side salad had sliced apples on it which gave it a nice little twist. I did try some of the skinny fries, tasty and crunchy. Everyone seemed to have a good time, everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, but I was half comatose from the last couple of long days and the only thing I needed to do was come home and sleep. I will be back, on the weekend? Hells no. I know better than to do that. Weekdays... that is when you will find me here. However it does appear on the weekends they have brunch....

BEST NACHOS IN THE WORLD!! Not kidding. I always order them as an app and then when it comes time to ordering my entree, I seriously debate just getting another order for myself. YUMMMMM!!!!! Awesome decor as well. Their ceilings look straight out of my future mountain home.

Great to visit on a warm evening. The restaurant has open front walls to the outside with outdoor seating and many televisions for sports. Good place for people watching. Had the skirt steak tacos, delicious.

A pretty decent sports bar option on Division Street. The place is big and cool looking with lots of TVs-- my husband wanted to watch soccer on a Saturday afternoon and they had it on multiple screens, which made him super happy. Great selection of beers-- run of the mill and craft and prices were standard, but even the specials weren't too "special." The food was hit and miss. We started with guacamole, which was pretty average. However, I had the chopped salad and it was actually very good. Normally I get a little nervous about ordering chicken at bars/pubs because it tends to be processed, but this salad had big chunks of good chicken breast.

Went there to watch a Blackhawks game. Was extremely annoyed when the manager refused to put the Blackhawks game audio on because there was a football game going on with two non-Chicago teams that nobody seemed to be watching, and "we are a football bar, too." That's pretty embarrassing for a place that calls itself an Official Chicago Blackhawks Bar. I was happy to walk down the street to Anthem and watch the game on their much better TVs with full audio. Food was OK, pretty typical for a this kind of bar. Service was otherwise fine.

This is a pretty decent, run of the mill, upscale sports bar. They had ample TVs and seating, so definitely not a bad place for watching sports. That wasnt why I was here though, we came for dinner after the do-division fest. It was pretty packed but we got seated within 15min. Everyone in my group enjoyed their meals... basic bar food really - burgers, wraps, quesadillas, etc. Like I said it was a bit upscale so the interior was pretty nice with comfy seating. The bathrooms where also very nice.

I only went in for drinks but this place was a great place to hang out, the atmosphere was friendly, there was a great assortment of beers to try and the service was great. Plus the shuffle board table is awesome! I live in the neighborhood and I'm happy there is a place to go, and watch sporting events. I realize this might not be for everyone around here but its a nice option when all you want to do is chill on a weekend afternoon and take in your favorite team.

Well, well, well. The Boundary. This place drives me crazy because I refuse to go there any my boyfriend thinks its hilarious to even suggest it and watch my face turn green. I had to seek it out and review because I loathe it so (but it does have a surprisingly good beer selection, so I did have to give it 2 stars but even that doesn't save it). I've been there twice. The first time I was blinded by the beer selection, which is more diverse than most places. However, when I returned I just looked around the place and wanted to vomit. Not because its ugly or anything, but lets just say its not my scene, to put it in a nice way. As soon as I left that day, my dislike of The Boundary deepens day by day (on the days that I walk past it). I just flat out don't like this place. And I will probably never step foot in it again. Thank God!

It looks like a Lincoln Park bar. It feels like a Lincoln Park bar. It tastes a little bit better than most Lincoln Park bars. All inter-neighborhood politics and banter aside, the Boundary has some decent bar food, a great beer selection, solid service, and it's a great place to catch a sporting event. It's not trying to be something it isn't and it does a nice job of being exactly what you would expect from taking a look at the exterior. It's a good Lincoln Park bar that found itself in Wicker Park. There are worse things. I don't recommend going on a Saturday night, but if you like to roll in during an NFL playoff game around 3, I don't see how you can go wrong. As for the food, I really recommend the grilled cheese. I just had it for the first time and it has bacon on it. What could go wrong? The fries are better than the tots, so keep that in mind. I've had the Don Corleone burger also which is solid. From the feedback my comrades have provided, I don't think you'll do poorly with any burger. The nachos and queso are a solid way to start things off.

I went there on a sunny afternoon and eating outside was very relaxing. It wasn't too crowded since it was around 2pm. The service wasn't that great but it's good enough for this type of place. I had the fish tacos which were excellent. I didn't get a chance to get any drinks but the drink list was very appealing.

The Boundary was recently rated one of the 20 douchiest bars in Chicago. The other night I was there and explaining to a friend that I felt the rating was unfair. Then i noticed that the bartender was wearing an Affliction t-shirt. Then the DJ played "I Want to Sex You Up" by Color Me Badd. It did not help my argument. That said, Boundary is a decent place if you have a large group of friends and need a big place to accommodate them. It's wall to wall flat screen tv's, so it's good for sporting events, and they seem to handle large crowds pretty well. If you have your heart set on douchey bars, try Barleycorn, Rockitt, Hubbard Inn or Paris Club.

When I moved back to Chicago after five years away, I couldn't help but notice all the shiny new places in Wicker Park. Some looked good (Big Star), some looked suspect (Angels and Mariachis). The Boundary was a place that was on the suspect side of the line, but over the past year, I have come to appreciate the charms of this mega sports bar in former hipsterville. (1) They have a lot of games. I think they have something like fifteen TVs. And they usually have a couple TVs that are TBD, so that the games are not set on those, which means that if you have a friend in town who wants to watch the Georgia Tech game, they will put that up. (2) Really nice service. In the vein of "you shouldn't judge a book by its cover," I expected the service here to be snooty and annoying, but I have been here maybe a half dozen times, and the service is unfailingly good. (3) Tater tots. The food here is pretty normal, competent bar food, but they have tater tots. And fried mac and cheese nuggets, which are hilarious. Some qualms: (4) Beer selection and price. This place does have a fair number of beers, but most are in bottle. The draft selection is not great. Also, the beers are overpriced by a buck or two. (5) "That guy." I get it, this is a sports bar, and hey, that's why we're here, to watch the game. But: there always seems to be "that guy" here, some obnoxious guy screaming and generally being annoying. Friends of "that guy": you know he is a bag of dicks when he gets drunk and the game is on, so try to keep him home. In summary: thanks for being a pleasant surprise.

I went with a friend here to eat dinner and watch football despite the relatively low Yelp reviews (just like every bar on Division). I'm a huge sports fan and I normally appreciate when bars play game sound throughout the entire establishment. They have a DJ who I assume is a regular fixture (at least on the weekends). One thing they did that I appreciated was transition from game sound to music when the game was on commercial. Not a big deal but I liked it. The crowd was fairly mixed and the place was very busy early afternoon. I can only image how ridiculous it gets later in the evening. Aside from the game, they had a decent selection of beers. Mostly beers that seem to be standard in bars around this area. The food was actually really good. I tried one of the salsa-y chicken wraps with some chili and I was amazed by how great the wrap tasted. In the future, I think I might actually consider coming back here to watch sports and eat.

What have I learned from my Yelping? That I can't or shouldn't let other reviews make my decision about a place without checking it out for myself. My husband and I have a group of friends that we get together with each year to watch the Superbowl, and every year we trade off picking where we'll go to watch the game. This year the selection was The Boundary, and after coming here to read the reviews I was fully prepared to have a terrible time, assuming I'd be surrounded by douchebags and be faced with bad service. I don't know if we went on an extremely off day, or if the clientele was changed dramatically, but, we had a great time and didn't have one single douchebag encounter. Our friends didn't make a reservation, but got there around 4:00 to get a table for our group, and from what they said didn't have any problem doing so. No one was rude to them, no one refused to sit them in a particular area (I asked because I wanted to write an accurate review) and when they told the hostess and our waitress that the rest of the party wouldn't be arriving for 30 mins to an hour, they were told it was no problem at all. When we got there we found a really nice, cozy, warm spot with plenty of tv's to watch the game, and what I thought was a nice layout. Our waitress was extremely friendly and courteous, and despite the full crowd we never felt ignored or like she was taking too long. Their beer selection is great for a sports bar, definitely not what you expect to find. I started with an iced tea (delicious) and moved onto Bells and Magic Hat #9. My husband and I split a cheeseburger and tater tots (I love a place that has tots!) which was cooked perfectly and very tasty. Our friends ordered a chicken sandwich with a side salad, and someone else ordered the Asian Salad, all of which looked good and received two thumbs up. Or 4 thumbs up. Whatever. We ate & drank, watched the game, and had a great time. It's a little higher priced than your typical sports bar, but, not offensively so. All in all we had a wonderful time and I would be happy to go again. I don't know if we managed to go when the normal or typical clientele wasn't there, but I didn't see anyone behaving badly or douche-y in the least. I had a lovely chat with some ladies in the rest room during half time about shoes, and who doesn't love that? I'm glad I didn't let the other reviews convince me to skip this outing because I had a great time and will definitely go back.

I've been to Boundary at least a handful of times and the foods been a great! However, my last two visits were different. The old salad served in my wrap and sandwich was limp and soggy. Not to mention the little bugs flying around the table near my drink and food. It's a shame, I think next time I am in the area I will chose a different neighborhood bar to eat at.

writing this in the bar...We've been waiting over an hour for a table. And were next on the list when the hostess let Ryan Theriot and his entourage take our table without even asking. To be treated like 2nd class citizens makes this place NOT worth our money or our time.

  • Amy S.

I noticed a lot of complaints about the service but our waitress was very attentive and nice. The place was nowhere near full capacity though. I liked the beer selection- LOTS of bottled varieties. I don't know if I'm just getting old or bars do not clean out their tap lines but I have gotten killer hangovers lately from draught beer and have decided to drink bottled if possible. But I digress. Only had an appetizer, chicken quesadillas, and they were better than most. They use a really gooey, yummy cheese. The set-up is nice and the loftiness makes it feel very open even if you are seated inside. I'd like to go again for a game and see if I have the same experience though!

This place is only okay. I've been here twice, once during the week (Thurs) and once on the weekend (Fri). I'd go back during the week as the crowd was an older, after work crowd. The weekend I didn't like so much as I felt a little too old for the crowd of early to mid twenty-somethings. But overall the place has a nice setup with a wide open atmosphere with plenty of tvs, and the drinks are reasonable.

Let's get real. This place is not good. It's about sub-par to a Champp's if anything. So many other great bar food places in Chicago. The only great thing about this place is the location and the actual space.

Ugh. I am confused. Is this a bar or a restaurant? The ENTIRE PLACE is tables and booths. Not good for mingling. If it's supposed to be a restaurant, then the food isn't good enough, and if it's supposed to be a bar, then the atmosphere isn't good enough. Skip it.

The other day a girl from work told me she had been in my neighborhood over the weekend. "Oh yeah? Where'd you go?" "We were at The Boundary!" "Then you weren't in my neighborhood." One of my favorite things to do is get drunk and walk down Division with my friends and yell at the people standing in line to enter this fucknut of a bar. "Hey guys!! Let's hang out at The Boundary! We can get an MGD for $5!! Maybe later on we can get some genital warts too!" I hope this place and Moonshine are both simultaneously hit by meteors.

I did not expect to like this place (being that it is over crowded with sharky guys and trying too hard girls) but I had a surprisingly good time there last night. We could not get a seat outside so we stood (squished) by the bar. The redeeming factor with the bartender (Brian) who was on top of his sh*t! The bar was busy as hell but he did a great jog paying attention and getting drinks for everyone as soon as they were needed. Thanks for making it a good experience, Brain!

Ok I have to give this place another review... Since I go back there consistently and still find it among the best. Fine you don't want "douche-bags" don't go on Thursday night-Saturday night... But hey when I want to go out with a single buddy in the neighborhood for a drink, Boundary's beer list and nice selection of young ladies does put it back on top. Actually the people I've met here beyond the plastic blonds (both male and female) seem to have been very nice ordinary people just trying to get a brew and a good time, despite what the music might suggest. But the real treat here is on the off nights. This is a fantastic reasonably priced night out for a couple, my personal favorite has to be Sunday night here... Be sure to catch it when there is no sporting event, I consistently let my wife scout out seating availability, it's 99% of the time either completely empty or completely packed. Kitchen closes late, they have among the nicest wait/bus staff of any restaurant I've been to in Chicagoland, which definitely adds to the experience, its here that you realize how annoying, crappy and uncaring the typical Chicago wait staff is. My perfect meal at Boundary: Shinerbock beer A Starry night shot (In Miami it's called liquid cocaine, jaegger/goldschlager) Northwood burger, medium rare, onion petals. Side of ranch And to finish it off my wife and I share a Molten Lava Cake. This is always a sure fire way to quell my bar food craving.

  • B K.

It looks like for the most part, people love this place or hate it. I'm going to go a different route and say: average. There are some very good things and some very bad. The wait and bar staff are all very friendly. Even when they're swamped they make the time to chat about Greek and send extra vegetables for your hummus. However the food is pretty sub-par, and often borders on too dry to eat. The layout is nice, and there's a decent segmentation between the bar area and the restaurant area. The drinks are average, both in quality and price, and there's enough big-screen TVs for everyone. I know that a lot of the Wicker Park folk are upset that more of these type of places are impinging on the old standards, and I don't entirely disagree - ever been to 50/Fifty? Ugh. However if you're looking for a decent place to watch the game, have some decent food, in a decent setting, and don't care about having a mind-blowing experience, this is your place. Two stars. Plus an extra star for the tater-tots, which are fantastic. Crispy, cheap, and delicious. Go there and have a plate.

I normally don't go to places like this- full of people waiting to pick up somebody. However, my friend who planned my bachelorette wanted us to stop by there. It was cool. This time we got our drinks faster than the last time I was there for lunch and a game. My friend really likes it so we've been there for lunch before. Anywho for the bachelorette we had lots of shots and other drinks, hung out and then left. It was a saturday and it was packed. I don't think anyone expects a place like this to be empty though so..

There have been many-a-nights where I end up at The Boundary and I have never had a bad experience. The bottled beer selection is one of the best in Wicker Park, but it may take you awhile to get up to the bar to order one when a big game is on the tube. Brian the bartender is one of the friendliest guys around, and he makes the place seem a lot more like Cheers than Applebees. If you are planning on eating here, I would definitely plan on lunch or an early dinner, as it gets pretty packed once the sun goes down.

Went here for a Super Bowl gathering and wanted to leave as soon as I walked in. When I told the hostess that we were 5 of 6 people she asked if we were all there. I said that 3 were there and the other two were parking. She bitchily said "Well when I see them in the flesh, then talk to me" Of course I wanted to leave then but my buddies just wanted to wait until they got there. So the other two showed up and I approached the girl again and told her that they were there. She made me bring them all forward so she could see each of them. I totally understand why she wanted us all there, however, didn't have to be so cunty. Then once we were sat, I noticed 3 other tables that had like one or two people sitting while waiting for others to show up. I ordered a burger that was actually pretty good. And the waitresses were pretty attentive. I could tell the regular patrons here were douche-bags and not the type I would hang out with.

I came here on a date on a Monday night and it was pretty busy, but not overly crowded... we were able to get the car valeted easily and seated right away. It looked like a lot of late happy hour people. I was able to get cider here which was good ... since I'm a fan or it and the food wasn't bad either. All the TVs had sports on which I was a fan of and it wasn't too loud that you weren't able to hear what the other person was saying.

I am plus minus with this place. I like the atmosphere as it is a big and open space with lots of flat screens - so good for football games. It is always packed and the bar area is happening - can meet a lot of people. The food was pretty good as well - a nicer version of bar food - bar foods turned into wraps and salads etc. The problem is things are a bit overpriced. The blood marys were $7 or $8 and there are no beer specials at all. $6 for a miller lite is steep!

I generally don't like places like this, but in the summertime when you can sit outdoors its pretty great. Their food is actually really good and they have a very extensive drink selection. Its also great for the rare occasions I want to watch a game. They have the most TV's in any Wicker Park bar. In summation, The Boundary serves its purpose. Only downfall, its a little too pricey for my taste.

The soups are amazingly good. It's a great compromise for the bf and me because I'm not into sports bars or beer but he is. The seating is comfy, the lighting sophisticated, and the menu broad. He gets to watch his sports, which are played at a discreet volume on screens that aren't right on your face, and I can enjoy the dj who spins 80's music and indie bands during commercial breaks. We both end up happy.

Reasons to hate the boundary: shitty food, beautiful but unattainable employees, outlandish markups on everything they sell, valet parking, uniformed doormen. Reasons to like the boundary: Innjoy and Mac's aren't really sports bars in the same way that the Boundary is, beautiful but unattainable employees, great beer selection, bright eyed, bushy-tailed and generally fresh faced fellow patrons. Two stars because paying $1000 for a flat screen TV, $80 for a month of cable television, $40 for six bottles of Chimay, and $100 for a stereo system that plays rock music is probably less expensive and more enjoyable than four weekend trips to this place.

I like to go to this place for lunch if I want to sit outside. Pretty tasty for bar food, and moderately priced. However I wouldn't visit on the weekend nights; the crowd is full of a-holes who only know how to get drunk and start trouble. Pretty much what one would expect from a sports bar weekend crowd. A+ for the staff. Everyone there is very nice and the service is excellent. With out the staff, The Boundary would just be another joint on Division.

Ive never seen so many TVs in one room before in my life! Does one giant room need so many TVs? I don't think so. This place gets pretty crowded on Friday night and the crowd here is typical of the Lincoln Park area. I would come here for drinks every now and again but I don't think that I would want to ever eat here. The place is one giant room where anybody can practically see everybody no matter which location they are in. There is no privacy at all. I don't know about you but I like to have a little privacy when I eat and not have to worry about other bar patrons bumping into me or spilling there drink near me.

Okay I came here on a non-football night and I see what people mean about the crowd. Typically not my kind of place outside of wanting to watch a game. I have, however, been to several similar places in the burbs since then and I can say that it is nowhere near as generic as some of those places. And I still say the food is good for the most part. Just don't expect your server to answer any of your questions related to the food. "If it says it on the menu then that's what it is" is an unacceptable answer, especially when it turns out not being correct.

Had a super-friendly waitress. The food is surprisingly flavorful for bar food. The fries have some bbq powder kick and my tater tots were old-school and crispy... Don't be afraid to stop by, but it's not a place I would go out of my way to hit up...

The food is amazing, I recommend the Northwoods Burger and the Steak Wrap. The atmosphere and tv sightlines are amazing on an NFL Sunday. It's a decent place to start off a Friday/Saturday night as well. A good good day for all occasions.

I'm a neighbor, so when people start lining up in their spiked heel knee high boots, I wonder. So I stopped by to peek in a look at the menu and see what it's all about. A night club and day bar, it seems. Lots of TVs, good food menu, reasonable drink menu, and attentive service. Salads, sandwiches, and mostly bar food looks good enough. Strange idea for a changing neighborhood.

  • Lee B.

About time a sports bar came to this neighborhood. A great place to watch a game and eat some above average bar food. The beer list is AMAZING. I am glad all the hipsters are upset and not visiting this great establishment. Wish there were more places like it in the neighborhood.

  • Brandon B.

One of the new dozen establishments to open in the neighborhood in the last few months, this is one of the sleekest looking and well-oiled places on the block. It's a little out of character for the rest of the strip: walking in there you feel like you might be in Wrigleyville on a Clark street testosterone sports bar (and, funny, the place is a sister establishment of Trace which fills that bill exactly, in fact according to the waitress its "pretty much the same thing"). Not too bad if you like that kind of place, but after eating 100 tater tots and a half bottle of ketchup, I feel greased out. My discerning companian was no big fan of the queso. Huge menu with lots of specialty beers though...well done for what it is, and not terribly expensive. I think I see more hairs sprouting on my chest and other parts after eating the whole plate...almost get run over by the drunk jocks every time I walk by here

So far, I am a fan of this place. I only sat outside on a gorgeous afternoon so did not see the atmosphere at night. But I can only imagine that it would be a Lincoln Park bar in Wicker Park. That would get annoying. But, what is nice about this place is that it is huge! You walk in and it is just this big open place. PLUS, they have a table shuffleboard! How cool! I haven't seen one of those for awhile. They have a really good beer list but we didn't really eat so I can't speak for the food. (Well, I did try the tater tots and actually those weren't that good.) I did also like their bathroom. Yes, I always judge a place by their bathroom.

this place is going to be polarizing, so if it IS what you're looking for, it WILL deliver. the servers are all really nice and sweet and helpful. the menu is extensive for a sports bar type atmosphere, and all i can say is everything looks good except what i had...the fish tacos. rookie...freaking...order. everything else about our thursday night at this place was a lot of fun...we had a party of 8, and were seated quickly. the flatscreens are out of the way, so you can watch or ignore them. since i'd pulled together a lot of old guy friends from college, we were probably a waiter's worst nightmare, but our girl kept right with us, and the rest of the staff seemed to be stopping by to check up on us throughout the night. best part about this place? the SHUFFLE BOARD TABLE. i can think of three bars with shuffle board. the other two's tables are BEAT UP. anyway, all in all, this isn't the kind of place i'm typically looking for. but for a group dinner, or an afternoon drink/game, it's a very nice, pleasant establishment.

  • Janie S.

It's bar-food. I mean its a huge bar but it's basic bar food. I've been there on weekdays and weekends and have realized that the food does taste better on weekdays-don't know why, but it does. And yes the tots are good but then again they are frozen tots deep friend so its nothing amazing really. Either way I guess if you are looking for a big place that usually always has tables, food and cheap beer I guess I could suggest The Boundary. But like I said it is basic bar food.

Was a little hestiant when I first walked in. Similar to many other reviews, seemed like a Lincoln Park or Wrigleyville bar dropped out of the sky and landed on Division. But who am I kidding...have you looked around Damen and Division recently (Club Monaco, Mark Jacobs, etc)? WP has been headed in that direction for a long time already. Anyways, went there to watch one of the Cubs vs. Sox games on a Saturday afternoon. Was a great place to watch the game...had several really nice flat screen televisions. We grabbed a seat right by the bar, in front of the outdoor patio. Seemed like it would be a great place to grab a seat outside and people watch on a sunny afternoon. Was impressed with the beer menu, for a non beer-bar (Map Room, Hopleaf, etc) had a very unique selection of beers (however, most of them bottled) with accurate descriptions. The food menu is pretty extensive also. We ordered a few appetizers (fried mac and chees, mini sandwhiches, fries) and they all were pretty good. The guy that was behind the bar was very friendly and overall thought the service was great. Don't know if you would find me haning out here on a Friday or Saturday night necessarily, but I would defnly head back to catch a game or have a few beers outside. The good: nice TVs, unique beer selection, nice patio, lots of food options The not-so-good: not the cheapest place to eat and drink

I think this place has really good bar food. I have had the Turkey Burger on many occasions and my wife loves the Cowgirl Salad. I have only come here for lunch b/c by the looks of it I think it probably gets pretty douchey by night. Everyone that is complaining that it is a Lincoln Park bar is probably right, but you can tell that from the street so if you hate Lincoln Park type bars then you should just walk on by.

would have been a 4-starer if the hostess could handle her shit. we came in on a friday night at like 9:30 and she was not accommodating at all. we wanted to eat and watch the suns game, and there was an empty table right in the front that was open and wouldn't you know, there were enough seats for us! but instead she tried to get through the crowd and find someone who was on the wait list, unsucessfully...and then proceeded to ignore us again! finally a server from that section came by and told us to take a seat. THANKS for doing the server's job. the beer selection is great(why i gave it 3 stars)! they had a huge list and it was fun to order from that. my burger was so/so, but loved that it came with tots...that's always a plus. we also got some terryaki beef app and it was pretty good...but overall, the food was bar food...it's not a place to grab dinner at, it's a place that you have drinks at or watch a game and then get so hungry you are forced to order from the menu.

If you're the kind of person who enjoys food that has flavor then, um, don't go here. If you are the type who enjoys the taste of muddled cardboard, then I highly recommend it. Oh, as long as you prefer your cardboard in an environment reminiscent of the audio/visual department of Circuit City.

I tried this place when they first opened a couple of years ago and hung out on their outside patio with friends and thought to myself, "this place is cool but nothing special". It was cool, but not a go-to place, not to mention always crowded. I decided to watch the World Cup finale here this past Sunday after a friend recommended Boundary as a great place to watch. The place was almost packed when we showed up. We put our names on the list and grabbed a seat at the bar until a table opened. I asked the brotherman behind the bar for the daily special and he politely told me that does not really exist in Boundary. Didn't surprise me at all! 10 minutes later a booth opened up...luckily we got there right when they started compiling a list for tables. The very pleasant waitress brought us our menus and took our drink orders. I decided to go for the Egg White Veggie Omelet which includes Asparagus, artichoke hearts, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes and feta cheese. One of the best omelets I have ever had! I drank La Fin Du Monde to wash the delicious omelet down...great combo!!! Surprisingly, they have a pretty good beer list. Bloody Marys seem to be very popular here and look very good..too bad I didn't partake in the bloddy goodness...maybe next time Television screens all around the walls made it very easy to get different views of the game. I can definitely recommend this place as a great spot to watch a sporting event. He got there an hour before the game started to make sure we ot good seating so we were there quite a while. I got hungry again and decided to have lunch/dinner during the final moments of the game. I ordered the BLT which was very good for a total of $8 with a side of seasonal fruit. I would definitely come back for another one!!!! The waitress was really cool and made sure we were all good with everything. The bathroom seemed pretty clean as they had a television inside so you can check out the game while taking care of your business. They also have pretty cool, black urinals (can't believe I am talking about toilets). Definitely will return...Should have come here more often!

My fiance, sister and I went here on a Friday night - we got seated right away, food and drink selection was decent. When we got the bill we pooled our money together and paid in cash, the waitress brought us our change, we left the tip and headed to another bar. As we left the second bar, heading towards the Empty Bottle, we passed back by the boundary and we were stopped by the doorman, who told us that we underpaid our bill. We explained the money left on the table was the waitress' tip, but apparently that isn't what she told the manager. We

It's big. They have a bunch of TVs. It's a pretty bar. It's too college/frat boy for me though. The drinks were cold, there was a good selection, the food was good, the service was quick...it just wasn't my scene. I like my people to be a bit more interesting than the crowd I saw here.

Showed up around 6ish a few days ago. We were seated right away. I ordered one of the seasonal ciders at the recommendation of our server. When she brought it back she apologized because she said it had a definite beer taste to it. I tasted it and sure enough I was not a fan. She took that back and brought out a different one (the peach cider is amazing fyi). I ordered the buffalo sandwich and it was CRAZY good! The "patty" part was actually a gigantic chicken breast lightly fried w/ a perfect amount of hot sauce on it. They topped it w/ blue cheese and I requested a pretzel bun which I was given w/o any problems. Great service, amazing food. I'll be back for sure. I wish I'd started coming here sooner!

We go to Boundary on a pretty regular basis if we want a decent meal while we watch sports. The food is actually pretty good and I've tried lots of things on the menu. The problem is there are other bars in Wicker Park with GREAT food (Old Oak Tap, Small Bar) so unless sports in on the agenda they aren't the best. The way Boundary is set up it is more like a restaurant than a bar. I wish they would reinvent themselves as more of a restaurant. This neighborhood doesn't have many (or any) good old fashioned american dinner places (appetizer, salad, entree). We have tons of mexican, italian, sushi, etc.

This 5 star review is for our awesome server we had last night Courtney- my dad, boyfriend and I had dinner here and had the best experience because of her! The food is always good here, but Courtney was seriously the best waitress we have had in a very time. She took the time to talk to our table, was very sweet and sincere, had great drink recommendations, we were all laughing together, and even handled my 63 year old dad's crazy humor like a champ. Managers of The Boundary: this girl deserves a raise! She really is one of Chicago's finest servers, and we were so happy to have had such a fun night out with such a great experience. I can't say nice enough things.

Met my grammar school pals here for what's rapidly becoming a monthly get-together. We're still a close bunch and our meetings have morphed into part catching up, part rumination, and part reminiscing about our childhood memories. This month's event took place at the Boundary. At first glance, it didn't look to be my kinda place, but given the right company, I'm happy anywhere. We got a table large enough to move around and mingle and our server was sweet and efficient. Drinks flowed and appetizers were downed. We ordered hummus, steak skewers, quesadillas and enough tator tots to fill the Albert Hall. All of the food was surprisingly good. Drink prices were comparable with other places of that caliber, and the beer menu was extensive. My only complaint is that they didn't have Crispin, but I made do with something else; what that was I have no idea. I don't know if I'd go back on my own, but for a sports bar in Wicker Bar, this was a decent place.

Here's a reason it was voted one of the douchiest bars - everyone who works there hates customers pretty much. My party and I waited 15 minutes at a table with absolutely no service. In fact, we watched as every nearby table had frequent visits from a server while we sat staring at the menu. We decided to leave and actually let the hostess know, and she just shrugged. Horrible service. It's sad because I enjoy the food and beer there, but every employee makes you feel awful for going there.

3.5 stars but I'll round up because of the cute waitress with the nose ring... Definitely above average and one of the better sports bars in Wicker Park. One of my go to spots to bring friends and watch games. Lots of TV and great drink selection. The staff is friendly and quick. The food has always been good too. The baja fish tacos are excellent, a little spicier than I expected so beware and the Sunnyside Up Burger is very good too although a little messy. I once had the chipotle hush puppies that were on special during the wintertime and those were pretty amazing. I've never been disappointed by the food and the beer selection is great too. Great patio for nice weather. Dog friendly too, I've brought my dog and had a few drinks with friends and the waitresses were all great. Best part is their foursquare special. For those of you familiar with foursquare, if you check in with 3 or more people, you get a free order of their Southwestern Nachos. This is a giant plate loaded with deliciousness. Free! This is great to share with friends and they never make it a hassle, just mention the check in! I like coming here to watch games, which can be hard to find in Wicker Park sometimes.

Great for an after-work outdoor happy hour. Skip the food. My colleagues and I wanted to grab a drink after a long day at work, and I suggested we go somewhere along Division (it was near my house and I was lazy), and just pick one that seemed appealing. Well, we happened to find parking close to Damen, saw an open patio, and rather than continuing on (again, we were lazy), we decided to check it out. Well, one drink lead to four or five (or so?) rounds on the patio. It was a gorgeous day out and the majority of the patio was in the shade, so it we weren't too hot. I had some cucumber summery vodka thing on their specials list that was pretty refreshing, but I could taste the simple syrup over the fresh cucumber (also, there were no actual cucumbers in the drink like the menu alluded, just lemons... hmm...) but it was still good. My other friends were all able to get their favorite beers or drink of choice, so we were happy. We eventually got hungry and decided to order appetizers. Though the blackened chicken quesadillas seemed delicious, they were actually pretty bland and not memorable. The guacamole was so bland I had to ask for hot sauce .The wings sauce was good, but they were overcooked. When we ordered sandwiches, though they sounded good on the menu, they were again, super bland. No flavor in anything. the only thing half way decent in the food department were the tator tots and fries, but then again, it's hard to mess up basic fried food. I'll also note patio got packed around 7, and they have bar tv's that you can actually see from the patio (we were able to watch the NBA finals while getting a tan). Overall, I would be back for a patio drinking hang out, but won't be ordering the food again.

The food was good, but the service was horrible. We went on one of the first 80degree days this spring sat out side, and we literally had to flag down out server. The bussers were amazing. They literally were spinning circles around our server. we ordered drinks twice from our busser and I can only hope he gets tipped out. My bloodymary fell flat. I had to season it myself. Even the dressing was uninspired and boring. Also. The olives looked as if they were supposed to be stuffed but they were empty. I don't know if I'd go back, but the cobb salad was delicious. I'd prob just take it to go.

Came here for brunch with some friends. Parking was a little hard to come by, but found a place about a block away. When we got in, the place was empty. They had must opened. We were greeted by the host and she promptly sat us. The waitress was very friendly and took our drink orders right away. We did notice that there was about 4 or 5 waitresses working at that time and we were the only ones there. The place did fill up more as time approached noon. Also, there is outside seating for those interested, but it was too hot and humid. Anyways, the food was very good. We liked the place greatly and will definitely go back.

Admittedly, I don't do the whole "hardcore nightlife scene" all too often... But, occasionally...the mood strikes me. Drink too much, laugh too loud, stay out too late, forget about looming deadlines and my aversion to the general crowd that is still drinking at 2am on Division, throw caution to the wind, and leave the hipster haterade at home. Sometimes. And then I go to places like the Boundary, and I am swiftly reminded why I do not enjoy places like the Boundary. Because, like...it's just not my thing, for a myriad of reasons... We strolled in around 1245, snagged a booth easily and saddled up for our last round of the evening. The exposed brick and plasma wallpaper is just so played out I won't even attempt to judge it. It's been done. My real gripe? We ordered a round of drinks at 1250, they arrived at 1:05. No biggie. The bar is slammed, I get it. What I do take issue with Mr. Bouncer Man, is you descending on our very well behaved (and relatively sober compared to the rest of society) table at 125 to tell us to get out. Um, what? No. I got my drink 20 minutes ago. It was not last call, this stupid, annoying bar is open 'til 2am...and if I am going to sit in here, I am going to finish my watered down, cliche vodka cranberry in peace without you glaring at me. Got that? Apparently, no. He did not hear me say that inside my head...because at approximately 130 (when we had not moved, but had picked up the pace of our vodka consumption) he exclaimed "OK, YOU GUYS REALLY HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE." Yeah, whatever. My boundaries do not include ever letting myself be exposed to this rampant display of douchebaggery ever again. Bars close at 2am. That's why I came here. It's the ONLY reason I came here. Get a watch, and a better bar.

I've been a patron of The Boundary since it opened and have nothing but good things to say about this place. The food here is excellent and the service is just as great. I've been here so many times that i don't require a menu, just need to figure out what I have a taste for on that particular day! They have a wide variety of beer to choose from, my only knock would be that some seem a bit pricey, but there are still plenty to choose form. Definitely a perfect place to watch "the game" whether it be a weekend or week night. The Boundary will always be at the top of my list when looking for a spot to watch the game or to grab some food and drink after a hard night of training!

I'm not particularly enamored with the douchy clientele, but this is a pretty nice place for a sports bar. It's spacious and wide open, and there are plenty of TVs to catch your game. I'm a big fan of the wood paneling, and booths to me are a sports bar must. I ordered the chili, and it had just the right amount of spice and tomato to balance out the pungency of the beef. My only complaint was the bartender. I was the only person at the bar, and she was not particularly outgoing or friendly. In fact, she gave a condescending answer when I requested her to change the channel on the TV.

Well, this is one for the books...I stopped in to grab a quick bite and head to a meeting. Unfortunately, I was served a pink buffalo chicken sandwich- they claimed it was fully cooked but honey, if you see pink in your chicken - it ain't! I was charged for my sandwich, handed the bartender (who will remain nameless for the story) my credit card and before he could set the bill/book down on the bar, I saw my credit card go flying behind the bar. The bartender could not locate my credit card - insert panic.... Me: ummm, excuse me, I am going to be late for my meeting. Could you please just hand me my credit card? Bartender: I need to get a flashlight, yeah, your credit card fell in a hole. Me: A hole? Can you please get my credit card out of the hole? Manager: The hole is 12 ft deep and your card is somewhere down there. Ok people - first, if you have a hole, cover it! Put a grate over it....ummm, safety issues????? So, yep, left hungry, and without my credit card.....what a lousy experience at this mediocre place. Careful if you decide to go there and pay with cash (exact change).

Bad food, portions okay, drinks weak... I have sweet baby rays at home, I can buy better salsa... If you simply reheat generic Sysco food at least make the fucking garnishes and sauces! Could be a cool place.. but it isn't. The staff needs a beatdown. Shuffleboard table is great to have and the reason I would go.. but its warped as hell.. have to stack coasters under the legs every time just to get it somewhat level.. then the staff gets pissed about you doing it.. Well? I would like to throw a puck down the lane without it making a 45 degree hook to the left halfway down! My problem with the place is mainly the staff.. I have been in there with a friend when we were the ONLY paying customers in the entire bar and one of the douchers working there said I had to leave because I was sitting on the edge of a railing.. that was solid as a rock btw. Bartenders have always been bitchy to us there.. don't know what the deal with the employees is.. as we do nothing obnoxious or rowdy to cause problems. Probably the reason its got so much floor space inside and usually empty.. I have boycotted this place.

This place isn't particularly memorable either way. We needed a place in the area to catch a football game, eat some food, and get some drinks one Thursday evening. For bar food, the menu did have a nice mix - appetizers, salads, wraps, burgers, sandwiches. We had chicken fingers and some of the mac and cheese to start off with and it was tasty. The burgers went over well and were nice and "meaty." I had the chicken sandwhich and it was very dry. It was edible but that could also be the few rounds of shots and drinks we had. Next time, I'd pick something different. The service was okay.. a little on the slow side to come back but she was quick in bringing our drinks once we ordered it. It seems like there are some "crowd" issues as per other reviews. We had a great group, but had to ask people nicely to stop standing right in the front of the tv that we were clearly trying to watch. It wasn't empty but it wasn't packed for a Thursday night either. Bottom line: I'd go back but wouldn't go out of my way.

Loved the Very Berry entree salad - really nice without too much of anything in particular. Balance between the goat cheese, candied walnuts, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries was perfect. Tried the Abita Purple Haze for the first time - not Boundary's fault but stay away it has zero taste/flavor ...

Good restaurant and sports bar. You will not hear me say that very often. Typically the best sports bar have crap for food and a very generic cheap beer and liquor. This place however is different. They have a very good beer, liquor and wine list that can satisfy anyones poison of choice. I would recommend this restaurant/ bar to any guy interested in taking a girl out but at the same time wanting to watch a sporting event. They will still satisfy the girls need for a touch of class while being surrounded by a plethora of sports steaming TVs. The only negative of this place was my experience with the service and that if you plan on getting a cab soon after a big game ends... fat chance.

I was in the neighborhood one afternoon and looking for a bite to eat. I searched Groupon Now and found a good deal at The Boundary. I'm glad I did. The atmosphere was great for a beautiful day. Since I was dining alone, I chose to sit at the bar to catch up on some sports highlights rather than enjoying the sun in their outdoor dining area. I was very impressed by their wide selection of beers (especially craft beers). As it was craft beer week, they had a $4 Point Nude Beach bottle special. The beer was just alright...and thus my only disappointment. I know other bars are offering specials on better craft beers, and it seemed almost stingy that their only special was the $4 Point Nude Beach bottle. Whatever. The bartender who served me was very friendly and attentive. I informed her of my bottle cap collection and she went out of her way to find a cap that she remember thinking was pretty unique. The food was awesome, too. I had the Fiesta Burger. Just thinking about it now makes me want to go back!

A friend's colleague was in town celebrating his birthday - and after leaving the first stop of the night, we ended up at The Boundary. Even though one of the people in the crew wanted to give him the full Division experience (which included going to a DB bar), I was not supporting the stop. I was, however, over-ruled so we went in. It was not nearly as crowded as I would have expected on a Saturday night when there basketball games on, and we even got a table. Considering how not-crowded it was, it was still super loud. Thankfully, we only stayed for one, as the Chad/Trixie/DB factor was just way too much. Our suburban birthday boy got to have the experience, and we got to leave. The waitress was nice and friendly and brought our round of drinks quickly. Overall, the place ended up being exactly the place people said it was - a sports bar for the people from Lincoln Park who have started to invade Wicker Park. Not going back.

This place was pretty darn good. I came here after flying into Chicago with my sister to grab a bite to eat. We were seated right away...she ordered an ice tea which was awesome. Sometimes it's watery and bland but this wasn't. We split the spinach artichoke dip with pita bread...it was excellent, the pita slices were warm and herby...quite delicious! We also split the buffalo chicken wrap and a salad. The wrap was excellent, good combo of actually crispy chicken, blue cheese, veggies and the wrap wasn't too doughy or like a tortilla. The side salad was also excellent, it had romaine lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and sliced green apples...not your typical side salad. All in all it was a good spot to grab a bite to eat. The decor is also fabulous...a little upscale for a sports bar but I don't own the place so whatever. P.S. They had plenty of women's bathrooms and this very cute lit hallway back to them. A+!

went here with my boyfriend after getting a certificate from restaurant.com . really fun atmosphere and friendly staff! well drinks are reasonably priced yet the beers seemed to be a little bit overpriced. the food was amazing. really liked the mac and cheese bites, chicken tenders as apps, very clean enviroment and the food is fresh. will be back! :)

I'm not a fan of what I call "cattle bars". These generally have high ceilings, exposed-brick walls, blaring TVs and a deafening roar of said TVs combined with the blathering of jam-packed clientele. It's too draining. It was so loud I couldn't hear my friends. The server was so busy I never even got to ask her for water. Oh well. I don't plan on returning if I can avoid it. However, they do offer a hummus appetizer for us vegans, and there are many good beers on the menu (though they're more expensive here than at other bars). Moo.

Split decision review. On one hand The Boundary is choadbox central... with an abundant overflow of douchedudes and Paris Hilton wannabes cavorting around, you wonder if anyone is actually there to watch sports and not just get boinked. However, on the other hand it does provide for pretty interesting people watching - as a matter of fact, I got so caught up watching these vapid cronies interacting that I managed to spy this hot guy I went out with once back in the day... homeboy was cute, unfortunately though, turned out the poor sob only had two functioning brain cells that were desperately fighting to form coherent thoughts - it was insanely inconvenient for him (as one might imagine) and resulted in him calling me Brenda all night. Actually, I've run into him several times in the past year and at the following places... The Tavern ** RAM Brewery (in the burbs) ** a Fallout Boy concert ** Apparently the lesson here is: where this guys lands, douchery is sure to follow. If you see him, run, fast. Clearly The Boundary isn't my first pick for a spot to hang, although all of you sports enthusiasts (and dudes that dig blondes in tight sweaters) should bookmark NOW. I imagine I'd own this atmosphere on off-nights when large, popular sporting events aren't taking place or in the summer when the patio reopens. The only reason they don't have next-to-no-stars is because their food was monster good... big, tasty burgers with all kinds of fixins', great salads, super spicy wings and a really nice beer list to boot. Am I likely to go back? Maybe only to point out 'the guy' to you in case we miss him at next weeks tool show. ** [clearly all places I went to under duress]

I had a birthday party here a few months ago and they were one of the most accommodating locations I've ever held a group event. I called a week or so in advance to see if they would have any issues with me reserving a space for 15-20 people that would be coming at different times throughout the night. The manager told me there would be no issues whatsoever. When I got there, we had three tables to hold the people, but they were close together and helped everyone move around and talk to each other. The beer selection was a great assortment of out of the ordinary beers. It was the primary I reason I chose the location. The food choices were great and everything we ordered came quick and hot. The cheese stuffed pretzels were my favorite. Our waitress was very friendly and never got irritated with the large group that we had. All in all, I will be coming back here many times in the future because of the great service we received.

boundary is your average sports bar. i like it okay. our table had beer and nachos. the nachos were okay but the beans were a little wet, which made them soggy. the meat on them, which i tried to avoid was really gross. full disclosure though - we only got them because it was a special to get them for free for checking in on foursquare. we were really just there to grab a few beers. the beer selection is not bad, but not as many were on tap as i'd hoped. they also offered a beer on their menu that they actually didn't have in stock. our waitress told us that she had been serving a different beer to people in its place all day without anyone mentioning it. not a huge deal but kind of weird. the crowd is not your typical wicker park crowd. it was more bros, but i don't know if bros are worse than hipsters or not. they also didn't let us use a restaurant.com certificate because we had used the foursquare deal. they did let us choose one, but as i understand it, the restaurant.com offers are certificates, which are used like money, which means they should be able to take both. but that's not a complaint, just a head-ups. not somewhere i'd actively try to go again, although sitting outside on a nice day when other places are way too crowded is nice.

As middle of the road as you can possibly get. Went for lunch on a Saturday, had a veggie wrap with fries. It was mediocre. Nothing exciting to report. Also split a pitcher of peach sangria, that was totally gross. The peaches were diced so fine that they would catch in the straw, and honestly it didn't taste like peach, I'm honestly not sure what it even tasted like. Sweet nastiness? Should have stuck with a bloody mary. Oh, and it was pricey for the quality of everything.

It was my first time coming to the boundary. My girlfriend and her mother had rum drinks with pomegranate that weren't mixed well. They said it tasted like drinking straight rum. I could imagine for most occasions that would be fun but for a light lunch it was pretty disgusting. The baked Mac & cheese was so good. The Burger was alright. The service was pretty poor. It was clear our waitress had her own share of drinks. She was pretty nice but very unattentive. We waited til after 20 min of getting our food to get our silverware and 2nd round of drinks. I would return just so long as they pick up their game a little.

Buyer Beware is my warning about this place. Dont get me wrong - the food was great and the beer was tasty - they had a good array of beers to choose from. I thought that on a Thursday night service would have been a bit more attentive (we were drinking after all), but it appeared that the servers were stretched pretty thin. I met a friend at this place and we kept talking not allowing us to actually make a choice for dinner. I got super hungry and asked the server what app would come out quickly and she said the guac and chips. My fellow diner was reluctant and the server offered to put some queso and salsa on there too. And so we agreed. When the bill came: 1. The Guac and chips became Gauc and Chips (7.99), cheese sauce (1.00) and salsa (.50). Considering our server told me that the kitchen was backed up (thus we opted for something that would come out quickly), I thought this was pretty low. 2. My beer that I chose from the summer 2010 menu rang up as $6 not $5 as it said on the menu. I asked the server about it, when she came back, she said there was an error on the computer and while its been on there for months, I was the first to bring it up. So I walked away feeling like this place was more focused on making money than repeat customer business. And, well, that's fine with me. There are plenty of other places that want my money.

I've now been here twice: both times I sat down, looked at the menu, and wanted to leave. Both times I've stayed for a beer, this last time we did stay for an appetizer as well. I ordered a Fat Tire, but then immediately changed my mind and ordered an Oberon. The waitress brought me a Fat Tire, which I drank anyway. Minus one point. We had the macaroni and cheese bites. Now, let me tell you, there's nothing I love more than cheese and pasta. And I've enjoyed these deep fried treats at other places, thought I would here...not so much. It was essentially blue box macaroni, which is disgusting to begin with, then deep fried and served with gross ranch sauce. Minus one point. After thinking about it, this food invention may be part of the reason why other countries hate Americans. Now, you'd think that the spacious outdoor seating would be reason enough to go - don't be fooled! Instead head west to Small Bar where the beer selections & food are way better and the people watching is just as good.

So I have NO IDEA how this place doesn't have straight up 5 stars across the board from everyone!? That strikes me as funny because it's always packed, no matter what, so some star-givin' cheapskates are frequenting this place but not disliking it enough to stop coming! My husband & I eat here almost once a week, and often hit it up just for a couple beers and a plate of Mac'n'Cheese Bites (soooooooo addictive!). Honestly, it's our favorite place in the neighborhood. Ironically, it seems every time we come here, we get the same cozy booth - it's the one all the way at the front of the restaurant against the left wall. We love it! You can still see all the TVs and people-watch the rest of the bar to your heart's content. My hubby always gets a burger here - there are a ton to choose from, and they never disappoint. They are gigantic and often we leave with leftovers. My only complaint here is that the latest menu doesn't offer the Boursin Cheese & Portobello burger... this was hands-down my favorite thing here, and it fell off the menu. The salads are stellar, too. The Cowboy is delicious and is enough food for 2 days' meals! I can't really say that there's anything we've had here that was not fantastic - always pleased. The beer menu is also amazing. I try to have something different every time we come, but the Breckenridge Vanilla Porter is my constant favorite. Great place with a nice feel - it's like my living room on steroids! Nice, cozy atmosphere even though it's a big space. Beautiful, well-kept interior stone & woodwork, and tons of large TVs to catch all the game action. Added bonus: we discovered that if you dine here before a Blackhawks game & show them your tickets, you get a discount off your bill. (Not sure if they're still doing this, but it was a nice suprise when we dragged the in-laws here before a game once!)

As you can see I am kind of Liberal with my 4/5 Stars but I have to say I was quite disappointed with the Boundary. Yeah you get the Lincoln Park'ish feel, relatively large for the Neighbourhood, line on the Weekends, Blah Blah Blah. I get it the Hood is a Changing, 500K postage stamp Condos' outnumber Sweet deal Apartments. Suppose in the long run it is good for the neighbourhood but BT/WP/UV are loosing the "feel" of what made it all right in the first place. With this monstrous "Sports" Bar a little more of the identity has gone by the wayside. This place used to be a great Auto Repair shop fixing some classic OLD European Sports cars, cool to wake up in the AM and see them on the Street. Now it is waking up at 2 AM because some over-served jerk has decided that we all need to know how much they "____" their Friend. I seriously moved from my place as it got to be such a nuisance. Based on my "feelings" of the place they sure had a hill to climb, this was my 3rd Visit (as rating a place after you have been drinking is not too fair). Well... Lets see... The burger was Good, Tots good, service... Eh. Was about what I expected after a long day of dealing with Sports Fans until my server took an inordinate amount of time to come by to ask if I would like another drink, by the time she came by I didn't. When it came to paying the tab it was almost as if they were waiting for me to leave so they would not have to give change. Well it affected their tip. I was at the Bar, there were only a few patrons left and 2-3 bartenders with only 10 or so at the bar and a few tables with customers. Not slammed. Where is it written that some of the New Shops and Eateries on Division have the belief that it is a privilege for me to spend money in their place. I believe in the Shop Local Motto and do but this is one place that I, now after three visits, will most likely not visit again.

Sorry to write bad stuff on here, but man the food I had last night was just not good 1.) Spinach Dip - microwaved with a clump of cheese on top, without knowing I somehow ate all the cheese with my first bite, leaving ZERO for my roommate, felt like a real asshole... Pita's were such a good idea, but why dont you crisp them on the flattop in butter, as opposed to microwaving them or doing whatever you did to make them so blah 2.) Side salad w/ Italian ving. - dressing ruined it, and I only put half of the provided ramiken on! also no healthy greens, just iceburg, and the shaved apple seemed irrelevant and out of place, like they were trying to hide the mediocre salad underneath 3.) Buffalo Chicken Sandwich - This was actually pretty damn good, the reason for the 2 stars in my review. Altho the server thought I wanted the side salad in place of fries, w/o clarifying it with me before or after, so it came out on the plate just the sandwich and a pickle service was very good, but the dinning room was under 20% full as it was a monday night After this visit I've decided that Boundry is a bar, not a restaurant... With so much good bar food in the area, I will not spend my hard earned money on food at boundry the bar is pretty awesome tho, so I would return there for drinks, even tho as stated in the other reviews, the bar price list is as high or higher than anywhere else on Division St in WP

If you're looking a run of the mill bar with overpriced drinks, lots of TV's and no specials, go ahead, and step into Boundary. The menu is large with lots of options, and generally I have found the food pretty good, however their beer selection and pricing have left me to go to a host of other venues for a better reason to come in. Overall ho-hum. Keep walking on Division and you can do better.

I was here to watch the game today and was deeply disappointed by both the lack of seats (if you're going to have low tables, you need to be able to accommodate people) as well customer service. Not only was I essentially knocked over multiple times by servers and bus boys but at one point was very rudely told by my server to move out of the way. There were no chairs and no where to stand. I stood close to the table and was told I was In the way while she was serving, I stood further back and was in the way there. When I told her I didn't know where else to go she went to a bouncer and had him tell me to get out of the aisle. Finally, a hostess asked my friend and I, who were with a party of 15, if we wanted to sit at a table across the bar... Away from our friends... Essentially asking us to leave. I will never come back here again and will be sure to tell my friends not to either. The total experience was brief yet utterly disdainful.

I came through this bar a couple weekends ago on a bar crawl and they threw together enough tables for us. We chose this bar as a food stop, we weren't disappointed. The food was good the beers were cold and the service was fantastic. Our waitress Mandy did a great job, well enough that even weeks later I still remembered her name. I recommend getting the nachos, and the rest of the food is pretty kick ass too.

The food is so so. They occasionally have a winner on there. The servers often seem bothered to be there. It is also usually a hassle to get a table during anything other than a weekday afternoon. On the positive: There are a ton of TV's for your sports watching needs and they have a very large, if uninteresting beer list

    (3)
  • Alex R.

Ok, first off this is Division St, so if you don't want to be jam-packed in a bar, don't come on the weekend! Common sense, stop complaining about it! Now on to the Boundary. The space is great, light, airy, massive exposed beams and great views of the myriad of tvs. The food was good, nothing exciting but quality ingredients...plus tater tots (regression to middle school occurs instantly upon your first bite). A perfect weekend afternoon lunch stop, or even late lunch (I reccommend btw 2-4pm, and the santa fe wrap is a winner) and miss the crowds. Week nights are a hit too, but make sure their is no "big game" on. Overall, worth a stop!

We've been there three times now, all for dinner, and it's been nothing but fantastic each time. It looks great, the service is consistently good, the food is delicious and cheap, they have several fireplaces going in the wintertime, the meat is all organic/free-range...I could go on, but you get the idea.

Being that I am Colts fan it is really hard to find a place that actually plays a Colts game. Well, since the Colts were playing in the evening and no other football team was playing I met my sister at the Boundary. My; first impression, boy there are a lot of tvs in here. Oh and the seating is designed to face all of the tvs...AWESOME! I didn't eat but the bartenders were cool and ummm so was the very domestic beer. Need I say more..oh yea Gooooo Colts!!!

I live across the street from Boundary and probably go a couple times a month, mostly to watch games. Food is always good and you can usually get seated quickly. On big game days, they card at the door. Makes me wonder how all of those babies get in, they're definitely not old enough.

This is one of the better sports bars in my neighborhood. On Sundays during NFL season, they play every out of market game across the various TV's. The place is usually full, so finding a table by the random game you want can be challenging. Sundays aside, this is a decent place to meet friends for a meal or drinks in Wicker Park. Food is good but nothing special. Drink selection is good even if the prices are nothing to write home about. If you're in WP and want to avoid hipsters, this is one of your better options.

Service - 4 Stars (just OK) Food - 2 stars - overpriced (11$ caprese appetizer - 4 small slices of tomato and even smaller , thinner mozzarella slices ) Beer - 4 stars - pretty good selection Cocktails - 1 star - almost with no alcohol. $9 it'a a little too much for soda. Location - 5 stars.

Tater Tots. Need I say more? This place has Tater Tots. Any place with Tater Tots is okay in my book! Of course along with those Tater Tots comes a wide beer selection, pretty tasty food and service that was personable and friendly. I got to the Boundary before the friend I was meeting and had a seat at the bar. The bartender immediately came over and offered me a menu and even better- asked what kind of beer I normally drank so that he could suggest something. He did- now if only I could remember what this white ale he recommended was called as it was delicious. . hmm . . . Oh well- I know where to find him again. The space is huge. It's a re purposed old garage with high timbered ceilings, front windows that open wide to the street and a dark oak bar that runs the length of the place. There are at least 20 TV's so if there is some game you want to catch- this place surely has got it on. Once my friend arrived- we moved to the outdoor patio. Nice. Large. There was no waiting for a table on this beautiful Monday night. We both ordered burgers and those wonderful Tater Tots! The food came prepared as directed (my burger was great!) and the server was quick to see when our glasses were empty and in need of a refill. If you are looking for a beer and a burger while you watch your favorite game- the Boundary should be "in boundaries" for you! Check it out.

My broski and I were making fun of walking-by (because when I'm at bar I usually make fun of people that don't look like me) hipster douche and trying to say what he might say to us. We finalized on "hey you lincoln parkers, you're in the wrong neighborhood, go back to the north side" (we were both sporting polo shirts and flip flops). Then, a girl behind us took offense saying "do you guys have anything better to do than make comments on people walking by?" (no, we don't) We quickly explained that we were only making hypothetical statements that some one else would say. She was obviously one of us, so her stance softened. We then learned that Waukegan is apparently the North Shore's red headed stepchild. I think that sums it up. Kinda confused place. Hot bartender. $5 for a top shelf gin and tonic. Nice tvs.

Best described, at least with my public-school developed vocabulary, as a classy but comfortable sports bar. The food is solid. The fish tacos are phenomenal, perhaps the best I have had in a city I have scoured for fish tacos. The staff is friendly and attractive. If you want a loud, crowded, and exciting place to watch Blackhawk and Bears games, Boundary is it. Late night the music is good, the kind of good that keeps everyone upbeat and friendly, but chill enough that it doesn't create drunk-girl flash mob dances. Oh...and they have a shuffleboard table. Enough said.

Well, I am not sure how fair this review is. We walked in on a Saturday night, asked the hostess if we could be seated. She sat us immediately and handed us the menus. About 15 minutes later, we still had not met our waitress. So we left! The crowd was kind of scarce, it is not a great place to go on Saturday night, there are too many better options on a Saturday night.

I had been to Boundary a few times in the past year. We bought a restaurant.com coupon and decided to go late on May 19th. The food...eh... We got the Very Berry Salad - I could see the "effort" to make it interesting or good, but something was off. I ate very little of this. Cucumber sandwich - This was Ok, but I thought it needed a little something else, more exciting. But not bad, I ate it all. Now...anything they deep fry is amazing. Tater tots, amazing, (How a tater tot can be amazing I don't know)....mac and cheese bites are also great! (I've had these before). Maybe they do better on the typical bar food than they do on "dinner". We also got the ice cream/cookie desert thing. Nothing special. Tasted like store bought cookie dough and ice cream. Wouldn't get it again. The service, we had a great server. We had a restaurant.com coupon, and those of you that have used them, or groupon, or whatever know that sometimes the service is sub par.... But our server was great! She was very friendly, attentive enough without being pesty. I wish I knew her name. She was a taller, thin, (blonde?). When I asked that the tomato be put on its own plate for the cucumber sandwich, because I am allergic to raw tomato (my husband is not, and loves them)...she said that she would check the salad we were getting to be sure it didn't have tomatoes either. The food wasn't worth it, but our server was very friendly...she made it a three star review. I'd say this place is better as a bar/sports bar than as a place to try to get some good food. (Skip on over to revolution brewery if you want better food)

Worst bar I've been to in Chicago for football. First off, they have absolutely NO specials for the game whatsoever! We went in and they had none of their seasonal beers either. Their brunch menu was limited, the service was slow and the food itself was terrible. Service was adequate at best and these idiots had soccer on as the Bears were getting ready to kickoff. I've been before for a blackhawks game and it was decent, but never again for football.

I used to hate this place - when it first opened, it was totally overrun with douchebags. I think those people have migrated on to the new bars on division (fatpour / anthem). What's left are just normal people out for food and drinks. We were able to get a table for 4 for Bears monday night football 5 minutes before kickoff (maybe the last open table), which was good for us, but maybe a bad sign for the restaurant? It was still packed, most of the night. nachos / burger was good. good drink specials. good ambiance. I never thought it would happen, but i actually like this place now.

This review is solely based on service, atmosphere, and beer. I really enjoyed this place. I flew out to Chicago on a business trip with my boss. After a hard days work, we took a fellow employee's advice to stop by here for some drinks (Friday night). Although out of our way, we were glad we made the hike out to bucktown. The area itself is pretty cool. Seems like a younger scene (but what do I know, I'm from Boston). The Boundary was very cool, and not overwhelmingly crowded. Flat screen TVs all around the whole place, and conveniently, the Celtics were playing that night. We probably stayed there for about 2.5 hours. Sat at the bar and had some good conversations with several of the bartenders, who were all extremely attentive and polite. They very willingly gave their opinions on what beers to try and gave in depth explanations of the more unfamiliar beers. I should've started off by stating that this bar has a huge selection of beer. I had about 6 cold ones that night, and each one was different. The drafts were on the cheaper side- $5-$8 bucks. Definitely a good spot to grab a drink and watch a game. If you're looking for more of an upbeat scene, you should probably head elsewhere.

Great staff. Great atmosphere during NFL games on Sunday. Free wifi. Great beer selection & bloody mary bar. this place is WAY better than Fat Pour on every level. Only reason I won't give a full 5 stars is the menu - vegetarians like myself might have a hard time finding too much to eat here. But the tots are amaze balls.

You won't find a better place to grab an outdoor table on a gorgeous summer day and do some Divison/Damen people watching than The Boundary. Weekends can be a long wait, but thats to be expected for Wicker Park, or shall I say Southport Ave. South. Lots of strollers in the neighborhood now, people, but I digress.... The menu gives you the standard pub grub choices like burgers, grilled cheese, turkey clubs, wraps, etc. You get the option to choose fries or tater tots with your sandwiches, so for this tater tot lover, its a good selling point. I suppose my main issue is the overall blandness of The Boundary. Its a little bit too clean, too shiny and too exposed brick-y to provide any real character or be stand-out in any way. Come for the outdoor seating during the day, but skip it on a Saturday night out on the town.

This place is a great addition to the ever growing Ukrainian/Bucktown area. There is a ton of seating, great food and always enough eye candy to make it worth the trek over in the most inclement of weather. There is a solid beer selection which even features the Green Line from Goose Island (so good!) and the drink menu is organized in such a way that it's easy to try something new without it taking forever to pick something. I've had the hummus and the buffalo chicken wrap, the service was quick and the staff didn't wrinkle their nose at me either time that I made a special order. Plus there is a whole slew of flat screens outlining which games will play on the screens, to make it really easy to determine where to sit and watch your favorite team.

So I'll start with the positive: I really like the open bright space and the fresh air. The large number of TVs are great for sporting events too. So, it's hard to say who was to blame for everything, but in the end it was a pretty bad experience. It took our waitress forever to get to our table and then another forever to take our order. She did appear busy in her defense, but from someone who waited tables and bartended for ten years I can tell you she was not real skilled. Can't really blame her for that though, she clearly needs more training or a new job. So once we were finally able to order it took us over 45 minutes to get our lunch. When we brought up the time it was taking, our server did apologize at least. When we did receive the food we were missing quite a few items like avocado and salad dressing. Besides that it was not that great. Average at best. At this point we did make it known that we were unhappy and they did take $20 off a $60 check, and they were apologetic. Our server fully redeemed herself when she chased us halfway down the block to return my friend's keys which was awesome. So the verdict is that we did appreciate the effort after we made a stink, but we certainly shouldn't have had so many issues in the first place. Will I go back? I'd give it a second chance...

Food wasn't terrible. Portions were great for the money. The service? Ours was pretty bad. Our server seemed to be everywhere but our table. The other servers seemed to be more attentive, so I'm certainly not faulting the entire staff. But I wouldn't sit in this girl's section again. I'd go back, but probably not for lunch. Maybe to sit at the bar?

Let us start with a 5-star baseline. (-3 Stars) On four separate occasions I have been disappointed in the mediocrity of my food. Chewy tuna. (+1 Star) The space is vast and an oddity in cramped Chicago. Barn bar. (+1 Star) The outdoor seating on Division is key in the summer. Dogs. (-1 Star) Too many TVs. Boundary is not a place I want to watch a football game and thus the TVs serve only as a modern distraction. ADD. (-1 Star) Blah, the food. Again. Blarf. = 2 Star Rating. Meh.

Worst food ever. Soup was cold, and tasteless. Got the Salad with Tuna. It was really low quality fish and to mask that fact, they cooked it medium well rather than rare. Crowd is weak. If you want to transcend yourself to Clark st. in LP, you should holler.

A cleaner-cut bar than most in the area. We were there on Halloween and the customers were cool overall; we were all in character. The bartenders were dressed up as well which gives it an extra star. My bartender dressed up as Britney Spears (I think) but looked like the post-pregnancy train-wrecked Britney. I was in character of my costume but my bartender just was doing the typical, "What can I get ya?" with no smile. Maybe she was playing the part and Britney Spears is boring and inconvenienced.

Went on a Wedneday night around 7:15. No waiting for the table. The decor is nice for a sportier bar, I'd agree with the yelper that called this a "sports lounge". The build your own chicken sandwich was good. My friends had the Waldorf Salad. They loved it, but needed more dressing. We shared the mac & cheese dinner as a side - it was delish!

I had a great experience when I last went to Boundary. It was for lunch on a Thursday afternoon early last spring, so I remember sitting on the patio with my friend. We had a great time! Our waitress was great and very friendly. She paid attention to when we were getting low on beer and checked to see if we were ready for another one. They had a great variety of beers, but their food was even better. I loved the sandwich I ordered and had plenty left to take home. It was very affordable, but they sold me on customer service! If I lived in that neighborhood, I'd definitely visit more often.

Since I have only been to The Boundary for dinner (several times), I'm reviewing it as a restaurant, not as as a bar. Both the food and the service are consistently good. And, particularly on a chilly night, snagging a booth by one of the fireplaces makes for a cozy, intimate setting. The menu certainly isn't what I think of when I hear "bar food"; it is far more creative than your standard burgers and nachos. The ahi tuna wrap with grilled asparagus never disappoints!

Did this place change their menu? I've eaten here a few times, but not in quite a while. I remembered it being tasty bar food that was a smidge on the upscale side. But maybe I hallucinated that.... I went back yesterday for the first time in over a year and thought the food had really gone downhill. It was overpriced and not nearly as good as I remembered. What's up with that? Service wasn't so hot either. They do have a good beer menu though.

We walked up & down Division yesterday looking for something to eat and stumbled upon Boundary. We got the mini pork sandwich appetizer, fish tacos and berry salad. Everything was good. The service was somewhat lacking. Our waitress never refilled our water, didn't bring plates for the appetizers and forgot our silverware. There are so many other restaurants in Chicago that I doubt I'll return to this one. If I were into sports I'd return because there are a ton of large t.v.'s everywhere.

Not a big fan of the Boundary. Stopped by for a weekend lunch, and ordering my burger was kind of an ordeal - it took, like three tries to get my food the way i wanted it, and service took forever, probably because the place was understaffed. I know my waiter tried and remembered my order, but overall, it was more trouble that it was really worth. Food is pretty decent for bar food, but nothing spectacular.

Tried this place after much opposition right before the holiday. The food was okay -- better than say, Chili's -- but I can't give it much better praise. The service was fair. I counted no less than 9 baby strollers inside while I was here. This place is pretty much epitomizes what I don't like about what Wicker Park has become. Non sequitur: While here I couldn't help but think of the famous Reese's commercial of yesteryear. "You got your baby in my sports bar. You got your sports bar on my baby..." One line review: sports bar with babies.

Brunch at the Boundary? Sure. I came for the Bloody Mary bar. I was told, based on my "still hurtin' from last night" disposition, that the required beverages were (1) Bloody Mary and (2) Coke. So I had both. The bar tender saw my need for the cola and slid that icy glass down to me "f*ckin stat" (his words, not mine, but I did appreciate his attention to my needs). Decent BM bar, but I like a variety of mixers. Still, I liked all the options (including meat, cheese, pickles, etc.) and even a bit of A-1, which I like to dump into my BM when making on my own. They have a mimosa bar now too, with a variety of juices to sex up your champagne flute. Decent menu, besides the fact that I could barely touch my grilled cheese (rest assured I ate it later after a proper nap). And they have tots. Gotta love that. Bonus? You might get to see a tight-jersey wearing Michigan fan screaming at the TV. P.S. He wasn't wearing a shirt under his jersey. I saw the outline of his whole belly button. Sick. But hey, if that's what you're into...go get 'im, tiger. Not a bad spot if you're looking to check out a game and have a bite, but be aware of the crowd...double-wide strollers abound these days alongside the screaming tight-shirt wearing ex-Big 10 dudes. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Good food. Great atmosphere for babies early in the evening because they have a good kids menu and a family bathroom where men can change babies too!

I bought a Restaurant.com gift certificate to try this place and have since bought a ton more because we really liked the food there. The booze was at regular city prices, but they do have a Magic Hat #9 draft special, which is pretty great. There are a bunch of TVs in there and the service is usually pretty good. I have never been there on a weekend so I have no idea what it is like on a Friday or Saturday night.

Sorry for being judgmental, but I'm not. Sorry, that is. I'm definitely judgmental. This bar sucks. I mean...I expect this crowd, environment and frat boy tude in Wrigley, but not in Ukie Village. Ugh. I just hope this isn't a sign of things to come...more collar pops, fewer cool, chill places with non-douchebags.

I love tots! Not in a pedophile kind of way but in a potato kind of way. Get your tots here! The Boundary is a typical sports bar. Food is okay and service is about the same. Nothing spectacular here but a nice place to come in the summer. Lots of patio seating, the place is open and since I was here during a FIFA World Cup game, it was packed that morning. Looking through the menu, nothing really jumped out at me so I went with the Monte Cristo which is basically a ham and cheese raspberry filled donut. My sandwich arrived minus the raspberry preserves. BOO! I mean, that's what makes it a Monte Cristo! The sandwich was just alright. I washed it down with a weak, yet fruity, white wine sangria-- which can only be ordered by the pitcher so make sure you have a friend to share with unless you're a lush then go for it. All in all, The Boundary doesn't push the limits. It's definitely a stay-between-the-lines kind of place. So come here for the tots, stay for a beer or two.

We went to The Boundary for a few pops based on tips from others that the crowd there is somewhat older. I didn't find that to exactly be true on my one visit here, but the place is alright just the same. It's a loft type place that's very airy and open. There are televisions all over the place for your sports fix. The music was pretty good, as I recall. They played some older classic rock as well as some recent stuff. The music reminded me of Rockit in substance as well as volume. I just wish they would move the first set of booths back another two feet from the bar because there's not enough room for standing at the bar area. The one thing that I really liked about this place was the service. Here, the bartenders come to you to ask you if you're alright or if you need another drink. They actually looked over people at the bar, gestured and raised their eyebrows in a sort of tacit query to make sure I was okay. That is completely unheard of in bars. Boundary is kind of out of the way for me, but I'll be back one of these days.

I came here with a friend today for lunch during the Renegade Craft Fair. The place was packed, and according to her, it usually is this way. Once we were seated on the patio, we waited about 10 minutes for our waitress. There were a lot of employees milling about, but most were busboys. When our waitress arrived, I ordered the Waldorf wrap and my friend ordered the grilled cheese. Both came out pretty quickly and were delicious. The grilled cheese was super thick on texas toast. The Waldorf wrap was excellent. I loved the candied nuts in the wrap! One thing I have to note (which is kind of weird), is that the toilets are all black. There's something weird about that. You feel like you're sitting on a black hole. Maybe I'm just neurotic. Overall, the food was excellent, but service was a little slow.

Went here for a quick dinner in the 'hood as I was starving. Great fish tacos. Big portion for $11 bucks. The music was a bit loud but good, none the less. And the bathrooms were spotless. Wouldn't be my go to on every occasion, but fit the bill.

For a first timer, I must say that this place was a perfect way to wind down the weekend. It did not hurt that my dining guest and I were able to sit outdoors! Our waiter Brian was amazing. I also had the opportunity to prove to my dinner partner that I can eat at places without a Groupon, albeit begrudgingly. I had the Chinese salad with some tasty seared Ahi Tuna. The dressing was nice and light instead of that thick sesame dressing. The salad was a nice size as well. Geanna, the dining partner, had the Waldorf Wrap. She enjoyed the Wrap and even let me try a couple of bites. I look forward to going back to here. My roommate said that The Boundary offers gift certificates on Restaurants.com . I will have to check this out!!

Well, it was bound to happen. The Wicker Park gentry demands it. The era of backwards caps,Beamers, and pea coats is upon us. I'm not surprised or upset by the opening of this place. I mean, hey, it's good for my property value. But, places like this and the "Irish Pub" down the block take away a bit of the wonderful character of Division Street. Ahh well, like I said, better this place is open. The opening of the Boundary is probably partly responsible for the closing of that Russian Mafia bath house down the street.

I haven't dined here so my review is based solely on the brews, atmosphere and service. My friend and I entered this massive space, looked around at the crowded bar, found two empty stools, and took a seat. We were quickly greeted by friendly bar staff. I'm an extremely indecisive person and the numerous coolers lining the wall in front of me each filled with various beer options was not helping my situation. Luckily, the bartenders were willing to help me narrow down my decision, not once, twice, three times but every time my glass became empty. I really appreciated the offer to test the beers before committing to them. We never waited long before our empty coasters were quickly covered. We will be back!

Average. Thats the word that comes to mind. We only went here because the Fire game was on at Small Bar and we could not find a table. Whatever I ordered was so unmemorable that I don't even remember what it was. Average.

Came here with a girlfriend after dinner at Moonshine. We sat at the bar and had a very enjoyable experience. Our bartender was very knowledgeable on all the different kinds of beers, and even let us sample one or two before we committed to buying it. We never sat with empty drinks for more than a minute before being asked about a refill. I enjoyed the atmosphere a lot. Large bar, tons of tv's with many different sports games and not too loud where you can't hear yourself think.

I must say this is a pretty good bar. The food is good, the drinks are good and the staff is awesome. I went there to watch the US Ghana world cup game. It was listed as one of THE bars to go to on metromix. As i mentioned the bartender was very good, the waitresses were very good and coz i got there early enough, we were able to get seats. We love their mimosa bar. Pretty extensive menu and it opens early for sports games with a breakfast menu. My gripe however is it's advertised as a sports bar and the position of the TVs is ridiculous. The TVs are on the 2 walls on either side of the bar. So if u r in the seats/bar along these walls, you are going to crane your neck looking up , if you are in the middle you will need to bring binoculars ! Bad design for a sports bar. All they need to do is put up an overhead projector and a screen in the middle perhaps. I'll definitely go back for the food and drinks, not sure about any major sports event though.

On a Friday night, this was my experience. If you came for sports, good pick, many TVs. Bottled beer selection, good. Drafts, beer lines need to be cleaned. Bartender, quick. Wait in line, 10 min around 9:00PM Noise level, loud. Patrons, mid 30s, few 20s. Bottom line, great for sports, not conversation or food.

I have only been there on a Thursday afternoon but I liked it a lot. The bar layout was smart . Everything on one end was mirrored on the other so you know where you're favorite beer is no matter what end you're on. Otherwise, the services was good an the mac & cheese fried triangle things were stupid good after a few beers in.

The Boundary is a pretty cool place. The problem is that everyone knows that and this place is always packed. If you're coming here to watch a big game of any sort, getting in hours early is a must. Don't even think about coming at game time, or you'll be standing. However, as busy as this place gets the bartenders here are always one step ahead and able to serve everyone pretty quickly. Frankly I don't know how they do it. Food menu is decent (the cookie dough desert is amazing). Beer on tap selections are good. And who doesn't love being surrounded by walls of TVs. You can't beat it here when they roll up their windows on a nice day. You can even see/hear the TVs from the patio. I'd say the Boundary is one of the better sports bars in the city.

It was just ok. It is a great atmosphere to watch a game at, but the food is not that good. I had heard much hype about it off of Metromix, and other websites but it did not live up to its potential. The Tv's are awkwardly located as well. Also warning, I went with one of my friends Grace who is sort of famous and the windows are wide open so paparazzi took pictures of us while we ate and nobody did anything to help us. Don't think I will return

Bad food, decent service with lots of smoke. This bar allows smoking on the patio. When I complained, they said they allow smoking in the last row of tables. They have 3 rows of tables so even though I moved, the smoke was still in my face. This is terrible and I think we have a law that says they can,t smoke on the patio. Just to be clear...The Management allows smoking on the patio! If you don't smoke and if you like good food, skip this place. Much better and smoke free restaurants up and down Division.

I enjoy The Boundary. It's kind of become my Sunday night wind-down after work. The bartenders are quite entertaining and always take care of us. They have quite the impressive selection of beer, and their bar is HUGE. Sometimes I simply enjoy sitting at the bar and staring into the coolers at everything they have. They are really lucky to have probably one of the best bar layouts on the entire strip. It's spacious, has very high ceilings. Coming here in the winter is nice because of the fireplaces and wooden beams (it's very cozy). The bathrooms are nice as well, and plentiful, because us ladies know that's always a plus! In the summertime they have a pretty large patio and their huge windows in the front open the whole place up for a nice breezy evening. The food is pretty much where all of this lovely hazy dream abruptly stops. I'm not a fan of their food and I've ordered quite a bit of different things. It's not bad, it's just boring. But, the friendly staff, drink selection and atmosphere is great here.

Yuck. The food here is bad - especially when there are so many great "bar food" places in the area. The service is no better. As far as the night scene goes - it is kind of like they tried to take a bar that works well on Clark in Wrigley (think Moes Cantina or any other huge open space that is a bar) and make it work in Wicker Park. The key word is "tried", unfortunately it is a miserable fail. Lots of TV's but not the normal excitement of sports bar, huge space but not a dance place. Confused.

I dug this place. The beer and food are ok, but the atmosphere is the best part. They are able to open up the front of the restaurant and get everyone seated outdoor (sorta). Also, the crowd here is pretty nice and respectful and there are a decent amount of good lookers.

This place is great for a weekend lunch. Especially when you're nursing a hangover. The Boundary has some greasy nibbles to help your churning stomach. First off, that Bloody Mary bar is heaven! You can pick your fixings and spicy factor. I love that they have stuffed picked tomatoes and artichokes, genius! They also have framboise lambic, one of my beer crushes. Tried the hot wings, super spicy and the veggie spring rolls. The spring rolls were my favorite. I had the southwest steak wrap with tots. There were a mountain of tots fresh from the deep fryer. The wrap was amazing. I ate half and took the other half home. It was huge and the wrap had a nice crunch to it. Tried the fish tacos and I wasn't a fan. I like my fish tacos "fresco" style not all gooped up with a hot mayo sauce and hella cheese. If you like smothered tacos, try them! Great service but it was super crowded. Our waitress was working her tail off. Bar is amazing, huge beer selection and great plasmas over the bar. I love the garage door style windows. It started to rain so down the windows went. Great atmosphere and good food!

just got back from the boundary where i picked up a burger and soup for $18.36.its not bad enough they charge too much but i was handed back a dollar as change from the $20 i gave her. i said "whats this"?? she responded "we round up". what?? "we dont do change". i asked for the manager and she repeated the "we dont do change" mantra.sorry to see they`re doing so poorly that they feel the need to scrounge an extra $.66 hey guys, get a clue. round down if you want to keep customers.

Boundary you are back on my "happy list". Went here for lunch today after being at the doctor's office all morning -- which is never fun. I was starving and wanted to see if I could get my beloved chicken wrap -- I ordered it. The woman put my order in. It came out -- YAY!! I've got my baby back! Yippee!!! THANKS BOUNDARY. I LOVE YOU AGAIN.

This place was crowded on Friday night for the 'Hawks game and my friend & I could only get a table outside, but because they had a TON of TVs, we were still able to catch parts of the game from where we were. The food was awesome. I'd come back here just for it...the spinach & artichoke appetizer was great, and my pita pocket was GIANT. I couldn't finish everything. The only minus is that it's a pretty popular place because of all of the TVs, so it's hard to just hang out to watch the game after you're done with food. There was also a line to get in at like 8pm....so thanks but no thanks...we headed over next door to division ale house.
