Spent my Memorial Day roaming around Pilsen exploring and ended up having lunch at Taqueria Los Alamos. They have walk up take out service and if you opt to dine in you'll have a waiter or waitress bring you a menu and take your order and you head up to the front to pay at the end. The chips and salsa they brought out were great and they kept them coming. For our meal my boyfriend and I opted to try a variety of things a la carte. I went with the avocado taco and a cheese quesadilla - both were yummy and well done. To boot I could barely finish my meal. My boyfriend was also happy with his meal. This place has standard Mexican fare and the food is done well. Holding me back from giving this four stars is the ambiance as well as the bathrooms. It could have been a bit cleaner and it was a bit dark and dingy in the eating area.

Phenomenal. Kind folks; crisp, flavorful, fresh ingredients; unpretentious and welcoming. While a lot of popular Pilsen taco spots begin to feel more and more contrived as the neighborhood continues to gentrify, this place is still a solid go-to.

My dad works here and even if he didn't i'd still recommend this little joint. It's small but convenient. The tortas are AMAZING and so are the gorditas.

BEST CHEESE BURGERS IN THE CITY!!!! Next to Burger Baron, and Max's in the loop, Alamos has delicious burgers, hands down top tier burgers.

If you're new here, get the tortas. (Like a sub sandwich with beans and lettuce and avocado and sour cream with your choice of meat) the horchata (rice water) is also very good.. Other places make them too watery or sugary. This place is open late sometimes up until 2 am. the salsas are also very good :)

Food was OK, nothing to write home about (I had steak tacos, and my husband had the steak burrito). It took me FOREVER to get a glass of water and this was after I had indulged in the chips and super hot salsa, but there was only one waitress and it was starting to get somewhat busy. Dining room was nothing fancy but it was clean. I don't live in the area and wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but if I were in the neighborhood I'd go again.

While walking around looking for the Tamale Lady (and failing) we walked into this sleepy spot and grabbed a bite to eat. The adjective that comes to mind when I think of my burrito here is Juicy. Most burritos in this city leave a pool of grease on the bottom of your plate, this one leave a pool of meat juice. Meat lovers, you know the difference. The prices are agreeable and standard, the seasoning is on par with a lot of places, but the thing that pulls this place from a three start joint to four is the selection of three salsa. Each is well executed, fresh and compliments the dishes perfectly. If you're in the hood, you won't be disappointed that you stopped in.

I used to live right off Cermak and Hoyne, and this place was my go-to taco place. Right around the corner from me- and it's on Cermak and Damen, so it's easy to access by the cermak and damen buses, as well as the 60 bus if you don't mind walking maybe 3 or 4 blocks. My absolute favorite tacos that I've tried in Pilsen!!!!. I used to get the chorizo taco- 2 of them, made with delicious chorizo (I don't like mine TOO spicy, just a little kick) and always really fresh-tasting onions and cilantro. I think I'd get two tacos plus a little Jarritos bottle for less than 8 dollars(YO!!!!), which is especially good bc authentic tacos often have two tortillas and a lot of meat so you can split them in half (not that I ever considered splitting them with anyone). The older lady who works there is really nice and remembered my order every time I came in- the younger lady is also very nice. They're fast (you won't wait more than 5 minutes for your food), and very sweet. I usually wear ties so they probably knew I'm queer and were never even a little rude, which I appreciate. Fave place to go for tacos, period.

I don't know how I have not reviewed this place before. I used to live in Pilsen over a year ago and loved this place. Perfect anytime, late night, lunch, dinner, breakfast, it's all good. The owner & lady that work there are super nice. The food is awesome and it's never crazy busy. I live by Midway airport now, but I'll always go out of my way to stop in here at least once a month if not more for my fill of tacos, tortas, and quesadillas.

Absolutely disgusting. You can taste (and smell) the poor quality meat. I got a burrito suizo and the sauce they put on it was so disgusting I scraped it off and tried to eat my burrito (which was still sub-par). The sauce was some disgusting watery tomato monstrosity that tasted like it came out of a can

Get the quesadillas w/ carne asada. Ask for the meal. Go ahead and splurge on red AND green salsa. Play caterpillar at the old arcade game while you wait. Or, catch up on what's happening on telemundo. Try to practice your Spanish -- the Alamos ladies are more than willing to speak with you and not laugh (too much) when you flub certain words. Love this place. Cheap and delicious. Can't wait to explore the rest of the menu...

I've gone there a few times and the chicken burritos were good. I even told my coworkers on Tuesday that my burrito was very fresh. But today I found plastic pieces in my burrito! Yuck!

Worst tacos i've ever had, barely edible. El Pastor and Chorizo meat was worse than aldi quality.

very good value, very solid burritos. especially the avocado. salsa is outstanding, too. only qualification is the seating area. it's bright, tables are sometimes a bit dirty, and there's a loud blaring TV in the middle of it. so, take your food to-go and you'll be delighted.

This place has the best Huevos Rancheros I've ever had. I demolished it! So freaking good. For the record, I ordered it without sour cream. Also, good chips and salsa. And everything is pretty inexpensive. This is now one of my favorite tacquerias. I'm definitely coming back here.

Cheap, fast, and honest food. I live about a minute from TLA and I've eaten there more times that I can describe. I always get take-out. Their Tortas are amazing. I think they have ruined me to all others. When they ask you if you want red or green salsa... Smile and ask for both. No bells and whistles just good fast mexican food.

Pretty solid Pilsen taco joint....I am a fan. Good horchata too.

This is simply the best, cheap Taqueria I've ever eaten at. Having lived in Pilsen for a year right across the street I was able to sample the entire menu. I would recommend the chorizo burritos and gorditas. The establishment is staffed by sweet little women who are friendly to everyone that stops in.

WOAH. A ton of food! Put me into a food coma. I liked everything about my meal except some of the tortillas. I like my tortillas a little crispier. Waitress was very nice. Horchata is solid, someone there knows what they are doing.

This is one of many solid late night Mexican take out places. This place gets props for being open late as well. The complimentary salsa is considerably more spicy than I prefer, but still good. The steak burrito was one of the many really good burritos I've had. I would go back here, but only if in the area.

I stumbled in to this place because Abuelo's down the street happened to be closed today. I picked up five tortas for a group I was picking up from the airport. I figured after a 4 hour flight, I could sure use a soft drink and a torta--so I hooked these people up. They loved the tortas (carne asada and milanesas) and so did I. The bread is awesome, the salsa roja is OUTSTANDING. I am a fan!

I used to live right down the street and therefore used to eat here a lot. Never had one complaint. That's the whole story, folks.

quick, go to local taco place. my constants: gorditas de carne asada and frijoles con queso. my husband loves their burritos de carne asada (very yum) and tacos de lengua (try at your own risk). not pricey, always satisfactory and only a couple blocks away, perfect.

I lived about three blocks from this place when I lived in Pilsen and my roommate would often bring me a steak torta on his way home from work. Pretty decent for your standard fast-food Mexican. Not as greasy as other places, quick service and they're open pretty late for some midnight snacking (i.e. a burrito to put you in a food coma.)

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
