Took it to go decided to shove a taco in my mouth before taking off, it was heaven. I ordered a lengua taco and ceviche de pulpo which for the price was amazing wasn't aware it came with a slip of mayo I could have done without. Four stars because I was not a fan of the flan. Service was standard, none too overbearing or rushed just casual you order you wait. Can't wait to come back. Awesome prices' taco place in midst of little Pakistan.

GREAT tacos! I'm a huge fan. There is a huge variety (steak, lengua, chicken, cochinita pibil, chorizo, etc...) We often get tacos for take out, or chorizo and eggs for breakfast on the weekend. The portions are huge and the staff is nice. I always phone in my order and it's ready when I walk over.

Great place! Was shopping and needed some fuel real quick. Two steak tacos. They were seasoned well. The spicy green sauce was scrumptious! Would come again! Clean and friendly environment.

Well I've been passing by this place for about a year and a half now and finally got around to trying it today. If I could rate it in increments of 1/2 stars I'd rate it at 3 1/2 stars. Since I can't and I'm leaning slightly closer to 3 stars than 4 I've rounded down. I had the tacos al pastor and some chips and salsa. The tacos were real good and slightly pricier than other taquerias I've eaten at ($2.00 each here), but still worth it although I don't think I'd be willing to pay anymore than that for them. The chips and salsa were unremarkable. Since the restaurant's hours are not listed here on Yelp I'll list them. They are open 7 days a week from 9 am to midnight except on Saturday when they are open from 9 am to 1 am. While I wouldn't say it's the best Mexican food I've ever eaten it's a nice change of pace from all the Indian restaurants in this part of town.

I attempted to place my order on Grub.com , which unfortunately was not able to process due to a server problem, I guess. Since this location is located not far from me, I decided just to drive over & order my food to go. The restaurant is situated in a dark corner of the mini strip & when dark approaches, it can be quite intimidating. I have been in search of a good Gordita when I did an Online search for my immediate area, so, I ordered that and (3) taco's. The gentleman who took my order was very nice & accommodating by answering any questions I had before placing my order. When I got home, the Gordita was situated as if on a fried-like bun. In my experience, Gordita's are encased & definitely not exposed as this one was. The taco's were okay, with the exception of the steak being a little bit over-cooked. However, the flavor of the Cilantro & Onions were fantastic in regards to flavor.

This is a temporary 3-star review that will probably be upped the next time I visit. I ordered (through Yelp) 2 steak tacos and chips &salsa for $8, which is about on par with other taquerias I've been to. Bonus points for the online delivery AND being open late. They stop delivery at 10, but the sign on the door had times going as late as 1am on the weekends, and given how close I live that's FANTASTIC. The steak tacos were arguably some of the best I've had in Chicago, even being kinda cold from the walk home. However, there wasn't any salsa to go with the chips, unless the three tiny containers that I assumed were for my tacos were also supposed to be the salsa? I'm gonna have to go back and actually get the salsa and see how I feel. Otherwise it's probably a solid 4-star place, I'm just knocking it for the salsa/order problem. Update: every time I've come here since, the service has been amazing, and the steak tacos are definitely still the best I've had.

    1. Star for fast delivery 2. Second star was for flavor. 3. Reasonable pricing. I stopped at 3 because, -1. The delivery man helped himself to a dollar tip. I already paid 4 dollars in delivery fees which I already know goes to him. But then he decided not to give me my change in full and swiped a dollar. -2) The burritos were smaller than any other places I have been to . There was no kids menu.

This place has never disappointed! The guacamole is possibly the best anywhere outside of Mexico. The decor is not the focus of this place, but It's all about the food! Service is adequate and the kitchen is timely.

The best Al Pastor burritos and tacos I have ever had. Any Taco or Burrito that I have had at El Pueblo hAs been great. I have never been disappointed with any of their food. Very reasonably priced also.

Very good tacos, and good service, price is fair for the delicious tacos, they also have chaparritas, mm they are really good sodas, I being looking for then in Chicago for a while and no one has them until I did discover that in this taqueria have them

This is a very solid taqueria. **Tortas: built just right, with plenty of fresh avacado and sour cream. **Tacos: spot on. **Carne Asada: pretty good. **Chorizo: cooked just right, with just the right amount of burnt pieces. **Habanero sauce: really addictive. And while no one would call this a hep cat lounge, the lighting is low and the space is cool for a cheap taqueria.

Steak burrito was awful. Full of fat. With all the good Mexican restaurants in Chicago I won't go back to this one.

This is the closest taqueria to my house...but I only come here for one thing....la cochinita pibil. I wasn't familiar with this meat until I walked in this place (my Mexican born dad wasn't familiar with it either) Pibil means buried in Mayan and refers to a mayan way to cook pork (under the ground in a banana leaf) it's slow roasted stewed pork cooked with habaneros and some other goodies so its got quite a bit of spice to it. I'll order gorditas or tacos and sometimes burritos with this meat and be happy as I possibly can be :) The tacos here are pricier than many other taquerias I've been to in the city, but the cochinita pibil which I haven't seen elsewhere is well worth it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because some of the other items I got here weren't very good. (Tortas) Stick with the Cochinita Pibil and u will be happy!

The food was fantastic. I ordered the three taco dinner, with one carne asada, one carnitas, and one pollo. Five stars for the carnitas (seriously fantastic), four stars for the asada, and three for the pollo. This is a great little out of the way place with a variety of options and very good food. Highly recommended.

Taqueria El Pueblo is a pretty outstanding hole in the wall taqueria. The venue is very low key, wooden tables, no frills and cafe style inside. A place for great food as opposed to a romantic dinner. The crowd on a Thursday night pretty much local and Hispanic (a good sign). Single dudes and a table or two of couples. For the food we started off with the complimentary tortilla chips served with three dips, one of these a habanero dip that was pretty damn hot. Followed with a taco combination (3 choices) with rice and beans. The pork taco and chorizo taco were absolutely awesome, real tasty, good toppings and a generous wedge of lime. The chicken taco just OK. I am not a rice and bean guy, but these were also really good and fresh. Probably some of the best tacos I have had and for three with a plate of beans and rice for around $8 - amazing. Service patient with us gringos and very efficient and cordial. I would give this place 5 stars if it had BYOB or even a license - I do love me some beers with my tacos and was disappointed to miss out.

Great food for the price, large portions, and interesting menu. We often get the chicken burrito and tacos el pastor for carry out. The chiles rellenos are also good. I see people getting large seafood dinners with crab legs sticking out, but haven't tried those yet...

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
