Came here on the first nice day this spring and got a primo spot by the open windows. It never really got busy, though, which surprised me. This place is great! I hope they stick around! The menu reads like my dreams. The whole thing is basically food porn, so pace yourself. I came in knowing I wanted the Chilaquilles, but I was sooo tempted to go off course. I didn't, and boy am I glad. They.Were.Amazing. You get a huge serving for $9 (no one finished theirs, we probably could have shared), and it's got a great kick. We started with the fried pickles (always a winner!) and the Southern Fried Mess (the name of my band in college). I mean, it's basically poutine with smoked pork and tater tots. How could you not??? I didn't imbibe, but the bloodies looked great, they came with a nice slice of crisp bacon and fried pickles. You can't beat the $2 mimosas. The value is spot on, we got a ton of food for not a lot of money, and the space is cool. The service was pretty spotty, given we were one of three tables in use, but we weren't in a hurry so it was fine. Definitely recommend!

CLUELESS MANAGEMENT: Really good bar food, cool environment, but you shouldn't be understaffed on a Bears Sunday, and you should never have the entire bar yelling and begging the "manager" to please turn on the sound of the football game?! These things are Management 101, why the hell else did he think everyone was there?? So much potential squandered, likely won't be back to watch Bears OR Blackhawks again...

I want to like this place. They have great food, and a great menu. However, the service is horrible every time. I was once here for 3 hours and only got 2 drinks despite ordering at least 10 times. We keep trying to give it a chance but the last time we were there the service was obnoxiously slow again. We finally just went to the bar instead of waiting for our server we were told they're out of champaign for their Sunday mimosa special. I then watched them hide 3 bottles of champaign. I don't know why they can't seem to figure out staffing to make sure service is good, but this will be the last time we're here.

Not a bad sports bar, plenty of TVs. Good service, great beer selection and nice menu of whiskeys. I had fried pickles that were over crispy. Good selection for dinner and beer at the bar.

Have come here for brunch several times. The food is extremely inconsistent. We usually order the exact same thing and it has been different each time. Ordered an omelette yesterday and it came flat as a pancake (no omelette fold over) and didn't have all the described ingredients. The service was also terrible. The waitress visited our table maybe twice during the meal. Didn't ask if we wanted more coffee, water, etc. She also didn't bring the toast that came with the food, and when I asked where it was she didn't know my meal came with it. As we needed more water, etc. we watched her standing at the bar drinking a beer with the bartender. The restaurant was not busy and she was extremely inattentive. Overall an underwhelming experience and we will not be returning.

Great food. Everything I've had here is delicious. They've got alot of beer and even wine on tap. $2 mimosa brunch special on the weekends is a plus. This place is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Glad to have this in our neighborhood and have been several times. Top notch bar food and a fine rotating list of beers. The service is consistently friendly and attentive. Only problem, this place has also been frequently understaffed. You might have to wait a half hour for that beer. Hope they get that kink worked out.

Giving a one star is too generous. My friend has a gluten allergy and asked for a salad. She specifically asked for a dressing that was gluten free. She got the salad and poured the dressing on to her salad and started eating it. We then realized it was the vinaigrette that had beer in it = gluten! At this point she had already eaten half of the salad. Waitress didn't even apologize and the manager? didn't have much to say either. They brought her a new salad with oil and vinegar.. not like it mattered because the damage was done. They did however comp the salad.. that just makes the allergy go away right?

Been here on 3 occasions and haven't had any issues. Was there for opening day when they only had like 5 beers on tap. I've never waited long for my food and now the beer selection is impressive. The longer they're open the better they'll get!

I went in here the first time with a co-worker to pick up some lunch we ordered. The place looks nice it has a nice atmosphere, typical bar to go and watch a game or have happy hour at. Nothing spectacular. From looking at the prices and some of these reviews, I thought I was going to get some big massive meal that was going to knock my socks off. I was very excited. I ordered The Sunny Side Up Burger. It was supposed to have a sunny side up egg, crispy pork belly and charred onions. I have to say that this was one of the most tasteless burgers I have ever had. There was absolutely zero and I mean zero salt... seasoning anything on this meat .. and it needed it. It was a bland grey piece of meat. The Chunks of pork belly were a nice treat, but they were really too thick to fit on the burger. So i decided to take them off and have some nice pieces of crispy pork... it needed some kind of salt too. Not to mention the pork tasted like it was fried in the same oil as donuts... it was sweet. The egg was over cooked. I ordered a sub side of mac n cheese. I think it was kraft blue box mac and cheese. i'm not going to keep going. the meal was uber dissapointing. I am definitely not going back for food. Maybe beer.. definitely not cocktails, this is a beer place with out a doubt. But then again you can get that just about anywhere. I don't see the pizazz here that everyone raves about. I am going to stick to Jack's Tap just west of there for food, same price but actually tastes good. Do it at your own risk!

An experience that started out bad and made it to average. I'd give 2.5 stars if possible but rounded up since I'm a helluva guy. When I arrived, I waited at the bar for at least 15 minutes and despite clearly holding my credit card in hand but somehow kept getting skipped over even though I was right next to a person who just got served and then the bartender would move to the other side of the bar and serve someone who arrived after me. Finally when there was no else to serve, I finally got a "what can I get ya?" For the second round, I was attended to quite quickly by a different bartender who was very polite and friendly - a tall guy wearing glasses. Tapworks Tavern & Grill has an excellent beer list and serves up bar food and BBQ. I didn't eat but the portions looked generous. They have about 12 flatscreens so it's a better option to watch a game in the West Loop.

Went here a few months ago with a good friend to watch a Blackhawks game. We sat up at the bar and were immediately greeted by two attentive and friendly bartenders who took good care of us for the night, despite it getting packed later on. The food was served hot and delicious (we had the deep fried pickles), and the drinks came so quick we soon forgot it was a weeknight. I remembered it was a weeknight the next morning though (ouch). I haven't been back yet as I'm not in that area very often, but had a great experience the one night I was there. You should check it out!

Don't hesitate - get yo' ass in here on a Saturday or Sunday! $1.95 Mimosas on the chalkboard outside grabbed our attention like a pervert grabs your junk. Of course, I had to do my research on this place before I stepped foot in the door and my fellow Yelpers didn't disappoint. Mixed reviews absolutely means I have to try it for myself and I'm glad I did. My friends and I hopped up on the first high-top we saw and admittedly the seat felt like you were sitting on some odd incline that you kept slipping down. I'd readjust and felt like I was sitting on an exercise ball trying to keep my balance. Meh, no thanks. We spotted the booths in the back by the kitchen. AWESOME...I'm always up for drinks and a show because you can see right in overlooking the line. The food that popped up on the pass had my meat-eating friends salivating. I stuck with the sweet potato fries and they were a HUGE serving. In fact, everything was an oversized portion which made this a bang for your buck. We didn't have ANY issues with service but I'm convinced we had the best one out there - Heather. She was on top it and we didn't go thirsty or hungry. We will be back for sure and will bring all of our friends and family here as I highly recommend it!

I am quite surprised by the number of sub par reviews for Tapworks. I tried it with my WL Crew a couple of weeks ago, and the consensus between all of us was this place rocks! Huge menu, plenty of beers on tap, and a cool sports bar ambiance. What's not to love? We came in on a Thursday night and were seated right away. The place wasn't empty, and it wasn't packed...just enough people around to people watch. We ordered a couple of beers, each of us a different one, and we all enjoyed. For food I tried the following: nachos, burger, and the pulled chicken. The nachos were solid...lots of toppings, but they needed to be distributed just a bit better...we took care of it by sharing pork and guac with the lonely chips. The burger was quite tasty and the pulled chicken plate was honestly better than a lot of BBQ joints in the city! So tender and the sauce was muy yummy....pair that with the BBQ sauce on the table and you will meet perfection! Unfortunately we didn't try dessert so I have nothing to report in that department. (Next time) While entering the bathroom I noticed Tapworks advertising for their brunch....ahhhhh $1.95 mimosas and bomb breakfast options! I can't wait to try it. In short, try Tapworks for yourself, I don't think you will be disappointed! Quality beers, quality eats in the heart of the West Loop:)

Not a bad place, but my shoes remained tied with my socks secured to my feet. I got the pulled pork nachos. They lacked BBQ sauce, which was on the table, so I'm glad that I know what should be on pulled pork nachos. The pork itself was nothing special and the cheese kind of made me queasy. Their sweet potato fries were too salty, but they give you a ton for $4. I have a feeling that their service was lacking due to the place packed with Hawks fans watching the game. All in all, I've been to worse places and I liked the vibe.

My friend who lives nearby recommended we go here (mind you, he's only ever gone once to have a drink) so we thought it would be cool to go in for lunch. At first, it looks really cool in there and the potential is definitely there to be great but our experience wasn't what I'd hoped. Number 1, the bartender had a really apathetic attitude. What is with hiring people based on how many tattoos they have rather than having a great attitude nowadays. It seems great service has been traded in for smugness and judgements on the beer you decide to order. We were hungry and decided to start with an appetizer and order chicken wings and I asked if we could please have them extra crispy (they weren't crispy at all.) We were brought some napkins and only one plate. We had to ask for silverware by the nice waitress who brought the food out and then it was next to impossible to get our bartender's attention to ask for another plate so my friend got up to get it himself. The wings, if made the way we requested, could have been very good and the beer we ordered which I think was like grapefruit or something is great for summer so I recommend you try that if you go here. We left without finishing our wings or beer but I hope the kinks get ironed out so others can enjoy what should be a great hangout.

Tried to go Saturday night around 1130pm and it was closed! Chairs stacked and lights off. Says it's open until 2am. What's up with that? Good food when it's open!

I came here with a big group of friends for brunch. We had the run of the place which was great! We put 2 tables together in the window and enjoyed their bloody marys and mimosas. The staff was terrific. Very helpful and there when we needed them. I can't say enough great things about the staff. They keep this place clean and running like a top! The bloodies and mimosas were delicious! We started with fried pickles which were dipped in corn meal to give it an extra crunch. Very good. There was also some extreme tater tot thing with beer bbq sauce. It had a ton of meat on it so I only stole a tot or two to try the sauce. You can tell that there's beer in it. Very interesting in a good way. I had the chicken and waffles. It was a little on the dry side but you can ask for more butter and syrup. They go kind of nuts with the cornmeal thing. But it traveled well so my boyfriend enjoyed half of it. The prices were all great too. I would come back here to hang out in a heartbeat. This place is friendly, easy, and delicious.

This place sucked. I came here with a group of friends on my birthday last Thursday and it took 25 minutes for our beers to arrive. The place was less than half full and the staff members were frantically running around like it was some beer garden at oktoberfest, except they never seemed to have the damn beers. I wanted to like this place but there are too many other places to go where you can actually get drink service. We were going to order food but we closed out as soon as our drinks arrived!

This is definitely a nice edition to Greektown if you're looking for a break from Greek food. It seems like this will be more of a Happy Hour spot than a late night destination. The service was SLOWWWWW...the type of slow where you want to order your drinks and food at the same time because you're worried about when your server will come back! I am optimistic service will improve once the place has been open a little longer, and the staff has a better rhythm. There's a great selection of both drafts and bottles. The food was good, not fantastic, but what you'd expect. I'm sure I'll be back since it's a good neighborhood bar spot, but I definitely won't be racing to return.

We are excited that a new bar/restaurant opened because this area lacks options. It has a pretty standard bar menu and the food is decent. They have a lot of beer choices and a nice bar set up. They also have a pretty good brunch, French toast was delicious and the $2 mimosas were actually boozy. We brought our daughter and they were very accommodating. They only have high top tables, but they have tall high chairs. We brought a stroller and had to carry it up the stairs to the entrance, but there was room for our stroller once up there (it wasn't crowded so not sure how that would work if it was packed).

Great rotating beer selection and tasty bar eats. Been in here five or six times and they always deliver. Highly recommend the Pork Flight - pork belly on bacon on pulled pork. Defibrillator is kept on the wall behind the bar, it's worth it. The wings are also great, smoked so there is a nice flavor.

I came into after my volunteer shift to get a beer and a bite to eat. My server Pheobe was great. She was friendly and enthusiastic about my beer choice. I'm a server myself, so I really appreciated the fact that she was so nice considering I was a single diner. You'd be surprised how often I receive bad service just because I'm a woman dining alone. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with tater tots. The sandwich was delicious, but I found the tots to be a bit too overly salted. No biggie though. I went in hoping to get a burger, but there wasn't any just plain burger options. They all had several ingredients on them that I didn't want. I probably could have asked for a burger with heavy modifications, but I didn't want to be a pain in the ass (it's the server in me). Thanks to Pheobe for her friendly and prompt service, I will definitely be back when I'm in the neighborhood for my volunteer shift.

Came for the Blackhawks game, there are tons of tv's everywhere so you can view the game without straining your neck. I had an awesome salad which was very filling. Probably not very very healthy but nonetheless delicious. I can't recall the name but it's pretty much a wedge salad with breaded chicken. If you don't like too much dressing I would ask for it on the side. Their beer selection is immense, and their Moscow mule was delicious, there are chunks of Apple in it which I had as desert lol. I saw a flyer for $2 mimosas for weekend brunch... Looking forward to checking that out. My significant other had a burger and he was quite content with it, tator tots were super crunchy on the outside which is how we like them. Parking can be difficult.

So excited about this new addition to the Greektown neighborhood and such a convenient location considering that I work on the second floor of the same building. Their wings are spectacular. The burgers are not to die for, but decent. Absolutely loved their fried chicken (but they should really say its fried chicken strips. Just a suggestion. I was expecting a drumstick of some sort) and mashed potatoes. The servings are large, befitting of the price. Definitely worth giving it a whirl!

Ordered the fish and chips. Fish was light, flaky and extremely tasty. Would be better if a third piece of fish was given in place of so many chips. Steak tacos were very well packed with all ingredients. Just need to eat them a bit faster as they do not hold their warmth.

  • Tim S.

I feel like I owed them a second chance, so I went back for lunch today. This time, I got the wings. I will be bluntly honest- they were overpriced and not very good at all. On top of that, 6 wings for 10 bucks?!?! I feel like I just got robbed on the green line! However, I will go to their happy hour today. Hopefully my third time back will be a charm.

What a valued addition to Greektown. Great food, great drinks, and a very chill atmosphere. I was hoping it wasn't going to be your typical douchy craft scene. It's a fresh addition to the gyro row.

I was really looking forward to the opening of Tapworks. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed during my first visit here. I know that they just opened, so I am hoping that some of these issues may be resolved...so I may go back to give them a second chance down the line. To start with, I want to say that the inside looks great. I like the decor. The actual bar is setup in the middle of the space, so that all four sides are open for people to sit at. It's nice and spacious. The rest of the bar/restaurant is set up with tall tops throughout. There are a good amount of large tables to accommodate groups of 6+ people. The seats are not the most comfortable, and to be honest, they will probably not function well for a lot of people since the seating space is fairly small (I'm of a small stature and I found it borderline comfortable to sit). After seating ourselves, as the sign told us to, my friend and I had to wait about 10 minutes before we were greeted by our server and given menus. This would be more acceptable if the place was packed, which it was not. The server was not very attentive throughout our time there. We ordered an appetizer and entrees. After waiting for awhile, our server came out with our entrees. As he placed our meals down he said "Oh...we just ran out of fried pickles. Is there another appetizer you want to order?" At that point, our meals were already there, so we declined. I thought it was odd that he didn't come and tell us that they ran out of our appetizer in advance before bringing out our food. My friend got a burger--looked good and she said it tasted good. My friend pointed out that her burger had pickles on it, so clearly the kitchen had not run out of pickles entirely....and yet our server told us that they ran out of fried pickles? This made us think even more that he had just forgotten to put our appetizer order in and was making up that the kitchen ran out of it. I got the breaded buffalo chicken sandwich...however there was barely any chicken on the sandwich. The actual meat was MAYBE 2cm thick and then there was a thin cornflake breading. It was served on a telera roll with cucumber and argula. There was more argula on the sandwich than there was chicken! The sandwich came with fries, which were basic...nothing special. Our server came by and asked us to close our tab with him as he was going home and said that another server would be by our table to take over. However, after he left another server didn't come over for at least 30 minutes....and she came over to say that it was last call. Mind you, it was only 11:15 and they are telling us it is last call?! There were at least 20 people in the place, so I really have no idea why they were closing so early (their website says they are open until 2:00am). I decided to ask this server if they had fried pickles, to which she responded yes, but the kitchen is closed. I then asked if they had run out of fried pickles and she said no. I told her about how our first server said they had run out. She just laughed and basically said ooops I guess I just blew his cover and he must have just not put your order in. Again, I know this place just opened, however the owners have other bars, so I wouldn't expect Tapworks to have so many problems. I may be back....but then again, Jak's Tap is just down the street and they have food I can count on, better service and the same drinks that I'd be drinking at Tapworks. If Tapworks reads this review, some advice would be to train/re-train your current staff on better customer service and the importance of being attentive...or hire some new people who already have good server skills. Also, I'd take a closer look at the food coming out of your kitchen, as the chicken sandwich was one of the worst I have ever had, merely because there was almost no chicken on the sandwich.

Went for lunch, but it was "brunch". Unless you wanted fried egg on something, you only had 1 option. We didn't even get offered a beer menu, which was underwhelming once we asked for it. I realize they haven't been open long, but the place only had 2 other customers. Food was incredibly over priced, over seasoned, undercooked, and unimpressive. Sat with empty beverage glasses for most of the meal. We are in that building at least once a month, but won't be going back anytime soon. DO NOT TAKE KIDS!!!! They are not welcome, nor are you if you have one.

This is now my favorite place in Chicago. They have great food, a bunch of amazing beers on tap, multiple options of things with the word "flight" in the name, lovely service... I can't imagine a better place to kill some time between trains.

As a server, you find that rare occasion where you have an unplanned Sunday off to enjoy food and drink amongst friends. Unfortunately our experience this past Sunday at Tapworks was far from enjoyable. Service was extremely slow, in what appeared to be an un busy bar. We sat for most of our experience with empty water glasses, and waited for 20-30 minutes after ordering drinks. Food was extremely slow, and several people's food came out cold. At one point, a manager was approached, whom was also the bartender, but he did nothing to address our concerns. Towards the end of our meal, my friend was told by our sever they were out of mimosas... Shortly after we noted the bartender and other servers bringing rounds of mimosas to other guest. Offensive, and completely unforgivable experience.

Fried pickles. We even had to order two orders because they were so good! awesome beer list - finally a place with some breweries I haven't heard of on tap and great atmosphere! Our server Heather was very attentive to our needs and super cool. Had an issue with the pretzel sticks and she took care of everything super fast! Get the ground mustard! Yum!

Great new spot in Greek town/ West loop. Impressive beer selection and friendly knowledgeable staff. Joel behind the bar was quick to make several menu recommendations and the chili cheese fries were delicious! Bright open modern space with a comfortable neighborhood vibe. I was referred to this new spot from it's sister restaurant Randolph Tavern in the loop. I will for sure come back and try the Turkey leg next time!

Great drink menu- over 40 beers on tap. Menu has a ton of variety and executed well. I had fish and chips- homemade tartar was awesome, but fries were soggy. We were drinking the mimosa special ($1.95 on weekends) and after my friend and I each had 3 they said they ran out. We went there to watch the March Madness games and they told us they couldn't put the volume on even though everyone that was there was into the games. Awkward ambiance for a Saturday night- music went off for a good hour and not a lot of people there at all. Great set up and potential to be a go-to sports bar in the west loop, but need some surround sound or at least better music. I know they are pretty new so we will be back.

I enjoy the food and am glad for the addition to the neighborhood, but when the bartender decides that she can't see you for 20 minutes even when the bar is half empty then I wonder how she gets to rob the owners by pushing customers away. Good luck if you go. Be prepared to wait.

Solid addition to West Loop. Great place to watch sports with lots of TVs and different sized tables. The food is definitely above typical bar food and offers some basic BBQ and other good stuff. Has plenty of beer to choose from and changing beers on tap that has a good mix of local brews and other various breweries. Would like to try brunch here too as the menu looks good.

Been here three times now (only had food once) but I think this is, as others have noted, a great addition to the neighborhood. Plenty of seating options and TV's. Service has been satisfactory each time and the food was great. Very large portions for the price. Beer menu is extensive. They have also had good tunes playing each time I've been in. I hope this place sticks around. I'm looking forward to trying other menu items.

WHAT A SANDWICH! WOW! I've never had such a large, delicious, and filling Reuben before. And the sweet potatoes were great! The bartender greeted me as soon as I walked in and offered me a drink while I wait for my pick-up order. I had the $1.95 mimosa, and it was just perfect. Very satisfied with my first trip here! :)
