I am always greeted by a friendly, smiling cashier when I come here on my way to work. This store is extremely efficient, and I never wait very long to get my drink (sometimes a coffee, sometimes a latte). My only complaint about this location is that it is very narrow, so it can be a bit difficult when I am trying to put cream and sugar into my coffee, as I am either getting bumped into or having to move out of the way of someone coming down the aisle. If not for that, I would give this place five stars!

I've been coming to this starbucks every single morning for the past 3 years. Recently in the past 2-3 months they have had an complete change of staff or at least enough of them to make a difference. Unfortunately they are not used to the volume this store does and are consistently ringing up the wrong orders. It has happened to me 3 times in the past 2 weeks. Completely ridiculous. In the past I would have given this store 5 stars and now due to the rudeness when I have to wait forever long to receive my drink and them screwing it up in the first place. I may be walking the extra block out of my way just to not give them business. It's too bad due to the location more ppl don't.

These cats have a ton of traffic, right by the Wells L station, about 1/2 mile from Union Station, and no complaints, no gripes, by customers OR baristas. It's downtown, so don't expect a lot of sitting room, indoors or out, just the way it is. This may be my newest spot before/after the L

The love I have for this Starbucks location comes from the people. They are the most joyous, kind and upbeat staff I have ever seen. They care about you, what you order and they are super speedy. With a line out the door it goes in about 2 minutes or less, they are the best. They always say hello to you, they always smile at you and they don't make you feel so stupid for buying a 5 dollar cup of coffee. The best part is the trivia question at the counter, I don't know who comes up with them but they are great and always tough! The staff keep me coming back, coffee is just a bonus.

With an hour to kill before ballet (and no desire to spend said hour at the office), I ducked in here to sit, read, and drink passion tea. Judge all you want, I had a giftcard. Free is free. Now, why should you go to this Starbucks rather than the one around the corner or up the street? Well, this Starbucks is larger than most in the Loop, so you are likely to get a seat. Also, I've been here twice and both times the baristas have been super-pleasant. Only notable negative was the music volume. While the songs themselves were enjoyable, they were loud enough to distract me from reading and preclude cell phone conversations. The girl next to me had to go outside to take a call. Hmmm, on the other hand, perhaps eschewing cell phone chatter is worth it...

One good Starbucks. They get you in and out and are friendly about it. One barista always calls me "young lady" which is a nice, and flattering, departure from "ma'am." (Please! I'm only 24!) Also the baristas here don't stare at you in mindless wonder if you order in their language (I mean the shorthand Starbucks speak of course)... so that's cool too.

Love this place! I come here in the morning and even though the line is all the way on the street, I have my coffee in two minutes. Great service!

I agree with Alexander L. - what is the point in reviewing a Starbucks? Well, for the better part of a year I have been getting my boss a cappuccino at this Starbucks a few days a week. At some point my boss told me to start getting something for myself when I went in, so when I got sick of tea or chai lattes, I started experimenting with this coffee thing, having only ever tried sips before (and hating it each time). One woman, Sophia, has always been amazing with customer service and that is why I am writing this review. She is a friendly face and she remembers the orders for every single regular. The other employees are nice and efficient, but Sophia really shines. I've heard that Starbucks pays fairly well, but she deserves a raise, especially with a couple of the customers I have had to see her deal with, but she does it with a smile. I give her 5 stars, because I am a fan of her, but I have to give it four stars overall. The drinks are just ok to me. If I am buying a fancy drink for just myself, I head to Argo or Caribou. I have tried other non-drink items here. I am not a fan of the sandwiches, but I do love their oatmeal and will often get that instead of a drink. Their yogurt parfaits have gelatin in them, which makes me sad face. The cupcakes they recently added cupcakes to their arsenal of baked goods are GREAT. As in really really great even though I suspect they might be like the other food items they have that are frozen and then thawed out? I actually sent a Yelp bud a text about how good they were. The vanilla icing reminds me of Sweet Mandy B's icing. WEIRD!

I'm in here 6 days a week for 1 reason. They take orders in line and, even when that line is 30 deep, you are out the door before you know it. I liked that the manager called me "young man" (because I'm not) until I saw that she called everyone "young..." That was a little deflating. I'll be sad when the outdoor seating gets put away for the season but it'll still be my on-the-way-to-work stop.

This is my "work" Starbucks. I know that there are locations that are probably closer to my office, but I just prefer this one. Our office used to work in the same building so it was literally just an elevator ride away. Now, it's just a short walk. I enjoy the cold drinks at Starbucks and the chai lattes. They get that right. However, and I don't mean to nitpick, but could the barista maybe wipe my cup after giving me my iced Carmel Macchaito? I hate it when the carmel drips down the side of the cup and my fingers get sticky! Other than that, I've received great service every time I have been here. Also, while they may be super busy during the morning rush hours, they have an efficient system in place for you to order your drinks and get them promptly. Great location and definitely will be back.

This is your typical churn and burn downtown Starbucks. The staff is nice and friendly, but they (fairly) recognize that with the amount of people coming in the door for their caffeine fix, they need to keep the chatter low and the espresso-making at warp speed. Right now I come here pretty much daily, because I have a caffeine addiction, and because it is the closest Starbucks to my work. In the afternoon things slow down a bit and coming in here can be a pleasant respite from working in the loop - relaxed music, some comfy chairs, and a 3pm pick-me-up.

I avoided this Starbucks in the morning because the line was out the door. I had some extra time one morning so I decided to wait, but I barely had to. The long line is deceiving. They are efficient and and for the most part friendly - especially the guy who gets your drink order while you're waiting in line. Highly recommend.

It's rare that I give Starbucks more than 3 stars, unless I receive exceptional service or disservice. They all blend into the one collective experience in my mind, A-Ok. Which is maybe why I keep going to them. Plus, they all produce the exact same Chai Latte's. There is comfort in consistency.

I've only stopped by this location on Saturday mornings, but the crew is absoutely fantastic! It's definitely not as hectic as the weekdays, so I can only speak to this time frame. The music is top notch, the baristas are welcoming and the lady in charge the last 2 times I've been there (I believe her name is Sophie) just rocks the house. I don't normally speak out to Starbucks, but I couldn't say enough kind things about these people. If every Starbucks (or for that matter anyone in customer service) was like this, the world would be a tiny bit happier.

Welcome to the busiest, best Starbucks in the city! Removing my favorite independent neighborhood coffee shop from the picture, this is my favorite spot to get coffee. The staff is upbeat and personable- always. Katrina, especially, is lovely. NEVER let a long line at this joint deter you from going in and grabbing your latte, as they have the fastest baristas I've ever encountered. A line of 25+ people means you'll wait maaaaaaaaaybe 3 or 4 minutes for your coffee. Not bad, considering it's 8:30 AM and every Chicagoan in The Loop is jonesin' for their morning caffeine fix. I'm here every day, sometimes twice, and they've never messed up my drink. Wonderful customer service - Bravo baristas!

I was in the city for a meeting, but was an hour early so I decided to spend some time at Starbucks... This Starbucks is quite small because a majority of people that come here buy their coffee and go back to work. Seating is limited since it is a smaller Starbucks, but I had no trouble finding a spot because most ppl just pick up coffee and leave. Pros: clean, free wi-fi, clean washroom (which I find rare in other Starbucks locations-in the burbs!) Cons: limited seating Parking: it is in the city so parking is probably limited.. or it's street parking.. I would probably come here again if I was in the area.. :)

I agree with CH who wrote about the change in staff and plummeting customer service. Not only are you not going to get good coffee, the new barristas are rude. I must admit there are two guys who've been there over a year and you get star service from them but if they're not there, all bets are off. I wrote to corporate and they sent me a couple of coupons for free drinks. I went back, got a newbie barrista and the coffee tasted so gross I went back and told them. They offered to make another coffee that was better but not what I'd get from the two veteran barristas. Oh well, at those lofty Starbucks prices, I'm going to try out other area coffee shops. Bye Starbucks.

Line almost out the door...be wary. A very long place...in the AM it gets packed....but I found a niche to eat my oatmeal...which was good and not watery at all. Staff was firnedly enough. :)

Solid city location. Right down from the Chicago Board of Trade too. Quick morning service and I was able to get a seat... Normally not a common commodity at SBUX. Why they only got 3 stars you ask? Because in the middle of making my strawberry smoothie (yes I had a hankering) they ran out and had to make me a mango-strawberry mix. Was it good? Yes. Was it great? Not really. Not worth $4 IMO.

This is one of the quickest and friendliest Starbucks I've been to! The morning rush can be a little bit of a wait but no more than 5-7 minutes of waiting, no matter how long the line is. They always let you sample a flavored syrup before you buy. They've made a mistake twice on my order and upgraded me a size for no extra charge.

The server was extremely nice. I got the oatmeal breakfast and doubled up on the condiments but the server was very nice. Would be returning soon.

Many of the crew that kept this store running has left. The lines are insane and the individuals are just not able to keep up, the volume here is massive. The bathrooms are not the cleanest anymore either. I just try to avoid this store now if I can, this is my go to store when the weather is bad and I don't stop at the store on Adams and State.

Service during weekday morning rushes is very good, they cram three cash registers in so they can really get to you fast- don't mind a line to the door, it's only a few minutes before your order is taken. Outdoor seating is nice when they have it, as there is limited indoor seating.

    (4)
  • Tina B.

Extremely slow! Staff changed and they're extremely rude. The last 3 times I had to complain about my order not being correct and I'm starting to think they're doing it on purpose at this point. For example, I could ask for a sweetened drink and it's unsweetened. I refuse to pay money for poor service and incorrect orders. The location is great but I will walk an extra 2-3 blocks to another location from now on!

  • Amy M.

Sooooo slow. It's across from my work so I stop in maybe once a week but if there's a line, the wait is often long. May be time to find a new location..

Conveniently located for me when I am in the Loop. They get everything right every time.

This is my goto Starbucks. Great people and quick service. The only downside is the dude outside the door looking for change. I realize it is part of living/working in the city but sometimes he can really get in your face. I recommend with slight hesitation.

The best Starbucks team anywhere (as in, all over the world). I stop here every week day and they know me, my drink and always get it right with a smile.

From open till close, this SB is busy busy busy. But you know what? They make it work. And there's plenty of seating! And there's plenty of wifi! And there's plenty of...noise. So don't come here expecting to relax/study/read.

  • Sasha T.

I got here pretty early in the morning and there was a lot of seat's available. Also there is free wi-fi so I was able to get work done. I love starbucks and this review has more to do with the location. It was very cold inside especially for February. Every time a customer would come in it would get a rush of super cold air. Also, there were homeless people that kept walking in and out and going through the garbage inside starbucks. I don't mean to sound arrogant but it made me feel uncomfortable. One guy sneezed on the counter where there is sugar and began wiping it down with a napkin that he was just cleaning something off the floor with. Besides those 2 things everything was good and I always love getting my coffee from starbucks.

This Starbucks sets itself apart from other Starbucks because it's the most efficient, well-run, and has the friendliest employees anywhere. I go to this SB almost every day before work. I'm not usually very talkative that early, but I can't help but be social with this friendly crew. The long line should never be a deterrent-they will call your order while you're in line, then by the time you pay, your order is ready. It's such a well-oiled machine. Every Starbucks should strive to be this good. Such a great way to start my day!

This is one of my favorite Starbucks locations! I pop in once or twice a week before work for a chai or pumpkin latte. The line could be out the door, but you are in and out in five minutes. I can't think of any other location that is so efficient. The employees are always very friendly, too.

Why reviewing a Starbucks I only been to once?!?!? Because it's special. Yes, SPECIAL. See - it is like the center of my universe. I have a friend who slaves upstairs, another one (incidentally his girlfriend) who works in the building just across the street, and my hubby is opening bank accounts at a diagonal. I mean...Bermuda Triangle much? or maybe a bit a Stonehenge? Something might happen at this location during the Summer solstice? Not sure.... In any case THE inside itself is pretty open and airy, lots of seating, plugs and busy businessmen looking cute in their suits. The music is not too loud; it allowed me to read my Medieval mystery in peace. Me likey!! Not much more to ask....

    (4)
  • Taryn T.

Let's be real - the only reason I'm writing this review is to express my overwhelming approval for the herd of tall, fit, attractive men in suits that show up here every morning between 8 and 9 a.m. Because this Starbucks is located in the Financial District, you inevitably see and run into a lot of well-spoken, interesting people (and did I MENTION they're usually clad in fine-lookin' suits?!).

  • Alexander L.

I know, writing about Starbucks on Yelp or anywhere else is like - WHATEVER. But this one was GREAT because there was this grouchy guy in front of me and the workers totally let it slide. I mean, mister customer man, you're not the only one awake early and pissed off cuz your meeting is at 7am. In fact, the people behind the counter had to wake up earlier than you to MAKE the coffee. Anyway, I think these workers were very good at keeping their cool. Maybe it's because the weather is only 15 degrees outside, or maybe because they're used to seeing this kind of behavior.

  • Betsy J.

In my opinion, this is not just any Starbucks. The staff at this location are the friendliest, most efficent team I have ever seen! They work as a well oiled machine to get you in and out with your consistently perfect drink in no time at all....no matter how long of a line. I think that because of how friendly the staff is, it gets passed onto the customers. People smile at you, hold the door for you....all of this at 7:30am. Starting my day off at this Starbucks location truly makes for a better day.

    (5)
  • Jennifer B.

You know why I like this Starbucks? Because it's WIDE! No bumping into someone's backpack, or someone knocking over your vanilla latte....here all of us caffeine-crazed kids can existing in harmony without bumping into one another! Also, this location is clean! There are always clean tables and the coffee bar is immaculately kept up. That counts alot considering many Loop Starbucks locations are kinda dirty.

    (4)
  • Rebecca S.

It never occurred to me to yelp Starbucks. I go EVERY day and sometimes I go twice a day, why wouldn't I? I go to 4 different Starbucks quite frequently (I am yelping this one for its excellence and another one for its non-excellence - the other two are just mediocre) This one is on my way to work when I don't go to the gym in the morning and, by far, my favorite. The barristas are SUPER friendly and know me by my morning and afternoon drink. I am not a personable person but I find myself smiling and being quite chatty with everyone here. As a previous Yelper put it, all Starbucks are not equal! If you go in and there is a line out the door, be patient. It goes quickly. Check it out and say hi to my favorite barristas. All mean, negative people, stay away. Don't break their happy spirits!!

Maybe I got them on a bad shift but everything about this shop was contrary to other Starbucks. Staff was downright rude and nasty. Lots of flies!
