This Starbucks is huge and I highly recommend it if you need to find a semi quiet place to study/work or if you want to bask in the sun, they have a huge outside seating area that is dog friendly! I haven't spent too much time here on this visit but I did notice that the staff was nice and kept the place clean- a major issue I have with some other Starbucks places around town.

I'm not a fan of Starbucks as it is so this made things worse coffee was so bland and he didn't want to or couldn't give me a few extra sugar packets ...dick

The person at the register was rude to me and being mean to other employees. I waited and watched as Guests that ordered after continued to get parts of there order

Worst Starbucks experience ever! Rude rude barista shamed me for wanting sweet & low. Told me "we don't keep that here, nobody wants it!" I was embarrassed to have somekne talk to me so rudely. It was awful. I purchase coffee at a different location daily and never was I treated so poorly! My name wasn't put on my cup and my beverage was not called out. It was just abandoned at the end of the counter. Awful experience. Will never spend money in this location

I love Starbucks. But this location was not living up to the namesake. Like another reviewer said, the line was not clear when you enter and most people tend to go the "wrong" way. This is not their fault. Then, the service is quite slow. There's been times when I came in and baristas were chatting away and taking forever to make drinks. Finally, my husband and I go to Starbucks every morning and this location was the closest. Starting 7 days ago, we ordered a cold brew and they said they were out. We thought that's ok, just one day. But for the next three days after that, it was still out. Then the next Monday we came in to find they still did not have any cold brew. Yet there's no sign or anything. They wait until someone orders to tell them in an unsure tone that they're still out of cold brew. Really? Not acceptable. We've decided to go to the Starbucks by Devon instead.

Very nice staff. Food and beverages are standard Starbucks. The outside seating is a BIG plus. I should note that I don't live in Chicago and visit only occasionally, but I go to this Starbucks whenever I do. The line never makes sense. I've been chastised by other customers for not getting it, but there's nothing that suggests the way to get in line. So, I'd say, figure out how use some merchandise to get people in one line. Then I'd love it.

I used to study here occasionally during 2007 and 2008. Back then I had a decent impression of the place, including the staff. I stopped by this am for a mocha. The two person team manning the fort were kind and friendly....but painfully slow and not great at their jobs. They messed up the two drinks in front of mine. They also messed up my drink. What I thought would be a quick mocha run turned into ten minutes, even though there was no line when I arrived. And my mocha tasted like a steamer. This Bux sux (at least today).

So usually I always have something good to say about Starbucks. Most ones I got to have great staff but let there's always the bad apples. This Starbucks has a horrible staff, at least the two individuals working today. I'm use to great attitudes but these two were not nice at all. I brought up how I was excited red cup season was coming but I was replied with a smug look and a smug answer. Starbucks should really hire better staff at this location

Love this Starbucks, the staff work so hard and have been around for a long time. They are knowledgable of the product and always have great recommendations. I can't imagine having to be at work at 5 am and trying to be perky in the morning, but these guys sure do try!

Outdoor seating is nice (when they aren't allowing "regulars" to smoke. Dog and kid friendly outdoor space. Be ready to wait, because the service is considerable slower than most Starbucks locations.

The wifi here is completely useless. I did a speed test while I was there tonight; 0.03 mbps. There are a few baristas who are nice and make good drinks- others are not so great. Every time I go there are 30 polish dudes speaking ten times louder than they need to and acting like they own the place. Get your drink and leave; it's not worth hanging around this dump.

I used to go here all the time as I loved to sit outside with my dogs in the summer and inside to do some work in winter. I agree with another poster about the large groups of men that gather and just take over the place. In the summer they SMOKE like crazy on the patio and are incredibly rude. I wish there were more cozy places inside to sit inside to get some work done.

I'm from Seattle and can be a coffee snob sometimes, but I like Starbucks. I like its consistency -- I know what to expect (more or less) whether I'm in Amman, Jordan or the Houston airport. However, this Starbucks is pretty depressing. The person that helped me at the register was in a really bad mood and made me feel like I was bothering her. The barista took a long time to make my drink, which normally doesn't irritate me, except many people after me got their drinks and the barista was really surly when he finally called out my order. The tables and floor were also pretty dirty. A lot of men that look like Ernest Hemingway hang out here. It comes across as a little more creepy than quirky, though.

I live near two coffee houses and I would definitely recommend this Starbucks to those in the neighborhood. With Starbucks you know what you are getting, and compared to the prices of the other two coffee shops it is relatively the same price. The partners are nice as well.

SB addict I will admit it. Green Tea Frappuccino at any time of the year for me.

Rude, crabby counter staff. If Starbucks field management were to experience the kind of service I received here they would be appalled. If my drink is made incorrectly, Starbucks baristas have always happily corrected the order. Here mockery and " take it as is", seems to be the rule. There are two other coffee shops within a block of this location. Take yourself and your business there instead.

I really appreciate this store. I like that it's open EARLY (5:30am!! - for someone who has a store to open BY 7 - this makes them TOPS for me!) ... the other two "coffee shops" in the hood - aren't open before 7... and, frankly, I am going to support the store that coincides with my schedule. In the summer - there's an expansive outside seating area - the theatre is next door too, for those who like a Starbucks beverage in the afternoon / evening before going to the INEXPENSIVE first run movies!!

Your pretty typical Starbucks. Smaller than most in the city but also less crowded. Very friendly staff. I like to come here to read and they usually play music more quietly than other places.

The coffee is the same as any other Starbucks. It's not the best coffee ever, but it covers my caffeine addiction. The staff is super friendly. But the wifi connection??? Arrrrrrgggghhhh!!! Next time I have to kill time and wait here for a friend, I'm bringing a book.

Genuine neighborhood feel to the place. Great light, dependable coffee/etc., good place to relax with the NY Times. Only downsides are sometimes slow service, sometimes loud noises ignored (loud beeping noise for five minutes at a time), conversations between employees that happen mid-way through an order. But, at the same time, friendly and hard-working. Outdoor seating is great in the warm months for people with dogs and energetic kids.

Well, Starbucks, it's been a nice run. Alas, with the company changing the benefits of having the gold card (specifically, the things I enjoy most), I'll be giving my business to one of the other coffeehouses a block north of you.

My favorite Starbucks. Everybody is friendly and they remember my drink order every time. Stacey and Tasha and Peter in particular are awesome. Con: Less seating after recent remodel. Pro: They FINALLY fixed the wifi after months of many of us complaining. Joee: It's not apartments upstairs, it's unused office space. I asked about renting an office there once and they weren't built out to be able to do it, but they said they might be some day.

Starbucks gets an automatic 3 stars, I'd say. It's never awesome, and it's never bad. Consistent -- you always know what you're getting when you walk in the door. Except -- I came here and needed an internet connection to work. The wifi was down and it had been down for several hurs -- and this happens on a regular basis. Adding to the enjoyment, the baristas did not tell me about this until after I had ordered and wrestled with the wifi for at least a few minutes, wondering if the problem was me. Seriously? So many other options in the neighborhood. I'll probably only be back if I'm with a friend who wants to go here.

Friendlier staff than the average Starbucks, comfy chairs, reliably solid pastries. I know we're all supposed to hate chains, but I like that unlike a locally-owned place, I know the staff gets health insurance. I know what I'm getting (coffee I like and good pastries) and it's always clean and comfy.

I have been on this review every Starbucks I go to and make a list of the best ones. So this is one that would appear on that list. My first visit and I have to say the staff was cheerful and just super nice. I was able to get a nice table by a window. They seem to always have a lot of foot traffic but people seem to get coffee and go because I am guessing the parking situation over there is horrific. It took me about 30 mins to actually find a park. They do have WIFI which is a huge plus. If I am up in the area again I would definitely go back!!!!!

I spent my first years in Chicago living not far from this Starbucks and never really patronizing it. This location has been here for a number of years and continues to go strong. It's an chain coffee shop in a little mini mall with non chain Chinese and a movie theater. It's one of those chain coffee shops that you know is there, but don't have any interest in going to. When my dad visited, he would often get his caffeine fix here. For me, it's always been one of those just there sort of places, nothing special. Recently, I went in after some business up in Rogers Park in desperate need of a bathroom. I purchased my beverage which was gross and sought out the bathroom. Thankfully, they had a bathroom. I drank my icky Starbucks coffee drink on the way to the El. With that one drink, I remembered why I stopped drinking coffee altogether and switched to tea.

I love the atmosphere of this Starbucks and the baristas are always so friendly. I'm really curious though, does anyone know if the apartments above it are actually for rent? Or are they just kept as empty storage space?

As far as Starbucks goes, it's what you expect. The space is big and it's not usually crowded, so you can probably find a table. They also have great outdoor seating.

There are so many wonderful and independently owned cafes in this area that have been around for a long time. Starbucks takes away from their business, but don't have the dedication to culture and the community that many of the neighborhood cafes do.

This is a crucial place to fill up on caffeine for nearby Loyola students. Even so, its pretty big and never gets too crowded and has plenty of space to spread out and do some group studying. I always enjoyed the atmosphere here to do some light studying.

It is the same as almost every other Starbucks I've been to, however, I came in on my first visit because I was craving a Chai Tea Latte that only Starbucks could fufill. While I was looking through my overstuffed clutch to make sure I had enough cash, the girl at the counter asked what I wanted and I said "well, I was hoping to get a venti Chai Tea Latte, if I can find my money" And she ended up charging me for a tall and let me slide when I was about fifty cents short of that. Anyway, it made my day and would probably come back to this location for my next craving.

Starbucks are usually pretty consistent, so it's really up to the baristas to make the difference. The ones here are fantastic! Friendly, fast and good at what they do. Great outdoor patio space to watch the neighborhood speed by--definately not a quiet space though. The inside of the store was cleaned up and layed out better a year or two ago, so you can actually sit for a while a be comfortable.

Hello...with so many cafes in Rogers Park no one should ever consider Starbucks their coffee destination of choice. But I wanted to write a review not of the coffee really but of the ENORMOUS puddle outside of Starbucks that I've come to call "The Starbucks Puddle." Whenever any trace amount of precipitation falls from the sky, regardless of form really, The Starbucks Puddle emerges. It is: a quasi-lake which cannot be traversed on foot unless you're willing to stand ankle deep in road water backwash-slash-sludge. Conveniently, it also extends down the block such that to cross it you actually have to walk to the first driveway on the street even to have a CHANCE at making it home somewhat dry. Personally, I think this is a ploy by Starbucks...after that unexpected excursion, who wouldn't need (and I mean NEED) to stop in for some kind of espresso-laced goodness? Clever. It's Starbucks. Somewhat like reviewing McDonalds. What differs are the people working here (all nice...some students...some really excellent "baristas" if you will...others not) and the "touches"--they have a great big green squishy chair and at the little place you pick up your ridiculously expensive triple grande soy latte they put out the daily horoscopes (which I love) and a pitcher of ice water. I've never seen that at another Starbucks...hence the extra star. Note to Starbucks: I'll give you 5 STARS if you get The Starbucks Puddle sorted out. I can't afford your drinks more than 2x a week, leaving me roughly 4 days of wet cotton socks accompanied by latent anger and resentment.

It's a Starbucks. What can I say? Baristas are relatively friendly and the outdoor seating is great.

Well, it's a Starbucks. They are pretty much all alike. If they were to clean-up that graffiti on the newspaper boxes outside of thier fence, and I'll feel better about it.

Their lines go fast when there is a line. Their coffee is very good on a consistent basis. I can tell this Starbucks is top noch because they clean it a lot and are always quick to serve you coffee. I also recommend their conference style coffee day packages. You can get the works: cups, fixings, straws, and a big couple things of coffee for a cheap price early in the morning.

Just another Starbucks. Nothing really exceptional or memorable about this location. I've always had a good cup of coffee here, and I will say that the staff is fairly nice too. I would recommend Metropolis coffee as being better place to go for coffee in the area, although this Starbucks location isn't bad.

This is probably the best Starbucks location I have ever been to. I live just around the corner and the staff is always friendly and in a good mood. I once had a problem with my Starbucks Card (somehow I got overcharged) and they gave me a coupons and apologized for any inconvenience. I like their big outdoor seating area which is dog friendly. Even my dog likes this location since they always hand me a dog cookie with my coffee!

  • Amber H.

The people there are very friendly. This is a place you can go and be for hours. The internet is a bit spotty, but the very helpful staff more than makes up for that.
