What's there to say that hasn't been said already. Potbelly is a pretty good sandwich spot. It's nothing crazy. The meat used is probably really processed and I tend to stay away but it taste pretty good. I'm partial to the wreck but trying to stick to the TKY for calories. The only sandwhich I don't like is the tuna (I hate celery) and I didn't think the meatball was that tasty. Granted, I haven't tried the meatball in years. I am curious about this new sicilian but that could kill me. I'm a big fan of the chili and of the shakes and smoothies. I appreciate the little cookies on the straw. The cookies and brownies are good and I love IBC root beer as a selection. I do, however, think the salads are terrible. You can just taste the fact that the lettuce comes in a bag. For the price, fresh produce would be appreciated. For that reason I give Potbelly 3.5 stars but round down for the salads. Most Potbellys are the same and I've only had an issue at one place where the workers are just slow. I won't review each Potbelly place so this is my review for all. Potbelly is close to work so I'll stop in once in a while when I didn't bring lunch and Chipotle or a food truck is not an option.

Great sandwich place now sorely missed. Used to come here every Saturday late morning for the lazy man's guide to breakfast/lunch. Never disappointed. Quick, simple and tasty. Usually got the "A Wreck" or the Italian to satisfy the transition from slumber to semi-awake....

I love Potbelly's and for some reason I don't get the opportunity to go there very often. I went in on Saturday for lunch and service was quick and efficient. I got a turkey with swiss on white. I'm kind of picky and everything I requested was on there and nothing I didn't request. I like the contrast between the warm bread and the cool lettuce. Very yummy when you're in the mood for a simple sandwich.

I kept seeing locations all over Chicago while I was visiting so I stopped at the one down the street from my hotel for lunch one day. This is a solid sandwich spot if you're looking for something better than Subway or Quiznos. The sandwiches are very tasty and I like that you can order a handmade ice cream sandwich. The only complaint I have is that the bread wrecks the roof of your mouth because they toast the sandwiches. If you have your sandwich with hot peppers, this becomes a double whammy - hot peppers and open wounds do not mix. I suppose you can ask them to not toast your sandwich but the bread didn't look too appealing untoasted - like it was underbaked on purpose so that it finishes when it's toasted. It still beats the other chain sandwich shops, though.

I love Potbelly's and wish they had one here in CA. A friend kept raving about their sandwiches, and he was right - they are good! All sandwiches cost $4.19 and come on toasted wheat or white, which is key. They can also add a bunch of stuff - I tried the Chicken Salad sandwich (it was dry, but I had it the next day so I'm not sure if this was the reason or not), the Italian (my favorite), and the Wreck. I also had a chocolate malt, which was extremely thick and rich. I'm not a huge fan of their sugar cookies but prefer and love their oatmeal chocolate chips cookies instead. I brought a few back w/ me from my trip. FYI - they normally cost $.99 but for some reason cost $1.09 at the MDW airport.

The experience I just had at this Potbelly's was so refreshing I can't wait to write about it. It's a quiet Saturday morning and the sandwich shop is pleasantly calm. I order right away and the employees are smiling and polite, like always. Even during weekday lunch time, when there's a line of hungry people and it's so hectic, the employees are efficient and friendly. While these lovely people prepare my lunch a family of tourists come bustling in and struggle to order. The line of workers are beyond patient and maintain those smiles, they must be desensitized to the stupid, obnoxious, and rude. Even when one of the children suddenly remembers she doesn't like tuna and wants roast beef and asks for a new sandwich, they smile. I couldn't detect even a hint of snark when they obliged. Despite oblivious and impolite nonsense the crew had to navigate through, the family got their food and was able to enjoy their meal. This Potbelly's team deserves an award, or at least your respect. I appreciate the food (delicious, duh) but I enjoy the experience because of the staff. Keep it up, guys.

Potbellys! I can never call it Potbelly, that just sounds weird. Anyway, this location is fantastic for the medical district! I love coming to lunch here. Contrary to other potbellys I have been to, this one does not have an acoustic guitar player during the weekday lunch. However, there is an ample amount of space and the service is really fast. The sandwiches are always made to perfection and everyone is super friendly!

A lot of these reviews seem to center on the slow service but I didn't have a problem. When I walked in there are approximately 15 people in line but they did have a guy going up and down the line taking your order and the sandwich was ready for me when I got up to the counter. So I have no complaints about the service because they are making an effort and the sandwich is comparable to the other locations.

Horrible service, they should be ashamed at how slow they are. After waiting ten minutes to make my salad, then ten more to ring me up, I left. They workers are incredibly rude and ignorant. The manager should be embarrassed.

"Dad, let's just go Subway. " I wasn't going to let that happen while in chi-town. Went a block or so further and found this place. Verrry friendly staff who were helpful in many ways, answering questions, and were patient with us as we took our time and ordered. Had a wreck, an Italian, smoked turkey, 2 others and just a cup of chicken salad. Everything was great! Loved the bread, toasted the sandwiches, and even though the fixings were limited, they were spot on. Cute little table in a 2 tiered room with windows overlooking the street was comfortable and kept clean. While we were leaving... "Dad, thanks for not taking us to Subway!" Sooooo good. Yum.

I'm not so sure if this is the one I'm obsessed with, but I love it! As well as all the other Potbelly's I have been to. Every time I go here (not that often, mind you) I am greeted with the fresh aroma of sandwiches! Totally awesome! I usually order some cheddar sun chips, the turkey+Swiss cheese sandwich, toasted, with a reasonable amount of mayo, along with a banana shake. Every single bite (and unladylike slurp) is pure heaven. Service is just service. TRY THE BROWNIE COOKIES AND TRY THEM NOW!!!! But not without me.

The food here is pretty much the same as any Potbellys, but the service is usually pretty bad. Somehow I always get stuck standing by the register for a few minutes waiting for someone to ring me out. Again, the food's good, but if it's not too far out of your way, I'd recommend going to the location on Chicago Ave.

Good sandwiches, reasonably priced. Didn't feel like going out to eat, so went to pick up some dinner from the Potbelly location less than a block away from the hotel. Ordered a turkey breast sandwich, an Italian sandwich, and a Farmhouse salad. The person taking my order must have been in training or something, since the process seemed to take forever, and then the person making my food didn't know about the salad. In spite of this, we enjoyed our meal from Potbelly. Sandwiches were tasty, although I'd leave off the hot peppers unless you like really spicy sandwiches. Well, maybe just ask them to use half as much and you'll be okay. The salad had a surprising amount of goodies, not just a iceberg-dominated affair. Altogether very good.

What a great sandwich!! The bread is delicious and the meat and toppings are fresh. I had fantastic service and they were so friendly and excited to serve me, especially when they found out I was from Mississippi. A great place for a quick, delicious meal and for a great price!

Very busy PotBelly's, but they always somehow make it through. The staff are nice. I was there this week and it seemed a big unorganized, but that is not normal so I will let it slide.

I've been to this location 5+ times and the staff have been rude every time. Each visit there have been at least 4 people behind the counter loudly talking to each other and complaining, with one person working. It's awkward to wait for a sandwich with people loudly goofing in front of you. The sandwiches are fine, but I'll walk to the Michigan Ave. location just to avoid the bad customer service.

The sandwiches and service are great, especially for how cheap everything is. It can get a bit busy during the lunch hour, but the line usually goes by in less than 15 minutes even if it is backed up to the door. I would recommend trying the Wreck on their new flatbread - my new favorite go-to when I'm here. I also always get a brownie cookie when they aren't sold out. Oh, and they also have a secret menu of sandwiches that Potbelly employees are trained to make but aren't listed on the in-store menu. You can find the secret menu online through Google if you are interested, Some of them are also pretty tasty!

They may make great sandwiched while you watch them but their delivery sandwiches are BAD!! I ordered the chicken salad with extra meat and the chicken salad did not even cover the bread! I tried again with the Mediterranean chicken and I got 3 small pieces of chicken. I called and the manager said they would send me a coupon...never came.

Restaurant review Sandwiches galore in Streeterville. I cannot count how many sandwich shops are in this area. Occasionally I throw "A Wreck" (rukey, slamin, roast beef, ham, swiss cheese) into the mix to complement my sandwich intake. Service is slow even when it is not busy, but the staff is friendly. You can upgrade your sandwich to the Big but it doesn't appear that much bigger imho. You can complement your meal with a milkshake that is hand mixed, but again pretty small in size. Otw nothing spectacularly good or bad about this place earns it a average 3 star review Pro: online ordering available to speed up the process, variety of sandwiches with different meats Cons: slow service, average size sandwiches/milk shakes Hidden gem: no exciting deals here

Potbelly brings you amazing sandwiches at an amazing price. For $5.50, you can get a big version of their sandwiches. I'm a big fan of the roast beef. Whenever I get in line, I'm tempted to try something else, just to see if I love it as much as the roast beef. But then I think, "Why would I miss out on the opportunity to have that awesome roast beef again?" And then I revert to my usual. If you're in a sandwich mood, what's your alternative? Subway? Feh. Quizno's? Forget about it. You'll find Potbelly locations all over Chicago. They are uniformly excellent. The perfect lunch location.

Don't expect them to be ready to serve customers in the first 15 minutes after opening. That's apparently the time when they're setting up and arguing among themselves. Not impressed.

  • Won K.

Very efficient, friendly service. I've had the "a wreck" as well their pizza sandwich. The pizza sandwich was ok I guess, but I was really impressed with how awesome the wreck sandwich tasted. Having the cream soda and bottled root beers are a definite plus, but sadly weren't as good as I remembered them from my childhood. Either way, major cool points. They're a little busy during the week days with the work crowd at lunch. But on the weekend I was the only person there during lunch hour when I went and I got my food super fast. Definitely check it out. A little pricier than subway, but definitely worth the money.

  • Allan C.

Best sandwich place for the price. I usually get a skinny "wreck" with extra turkey. You definitely have to get the hot peppers in your sandwich. That's what differentiates a Potbelly sandwich from others. The cookies are also delicious and fresh.

Think that delivery is the way to go because they're SUPPOSED to get your order RIGHT and get it there fast?!?!?!? WRONG! The manager was so rude! I called to say our order was wrong for the 2nd time and the manager said he'd have the sandwich delivered and he MADE SURE to say he was taking the sandwiches that we DIDN'T order back!!! Really???? I never wanted them in the first place. The woman Regina who takes your order couldn't be any more dull and rude either. Basically, order Jimmy John's instead.....at least from this area.

PBs is good for when you just need to get in and out after work. The Sands are no better than any other sand-shop to me.

I just came here last week during a weekday lunch rush. The quality of the sandwich is more or less the same, but holy crap--the stress during lunch really gets to the workers and makes them quite nasty. I'd recommend coming here if there isn't a crowd there on their lunch break. It's an absolute mess.

The Sandwiches were tasty. The cashier was a little impatient. I was ordering for three people and was rushed a bit. They were quick taking the orders though. The inside of the shop is pretty cool with some decoration.

Good sandwiches- you really can't go wrong. Just had 'The Wreck' and a strawberry shake...and BBQ chips. All good. Generally plenty of room to eat at the establishment too- sometimes they have live music which is pretty thoughtful.

Wow! This is the best sandwich shop that I've ever been in. Honestly you have to come here. The food is great and so is the service.

This place it probably the best sub sandwich shop in the city. This location is also probably a gold mine. Sometimes, I cannot get over the fact that I'm waiting in line for something I could have made at home for one quarter of the price and have access to my own bathroom. I sometimes think these places are a form of financial punishment for the absent-minded people who forget to take their lunch from home. But in the end, this place makes a good sandwich and its employees are always courteous and efficient.

we were looking for something quick, and had seen this chain around chicago all week. so glad we stopped in. the menu seemed a little complicated, but there are steps that walk you right through it, plus the friendly staff help make the experience less threatening. I ordered the "Wreck" which consisted of salami, roast beef, turkey, and ham. since it was my firstt time, i ordered it with everything on it. so glad i did. the sandwich was amazing!! would definitely go back. wish we had Potbelly in California!

In Chicago for a conference and stumbled upon this gem near my hotel. It was packed at lunchtime, which is always a good sign. I order a Wreck (turkey, ham, roast beef & salami) sandwich, which turned out to be one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Washed it down with a banana-boysenberry shake that came with two little cookies on the straw. Was a bit of a wait since it was lunch, but was worth it. I'd go back to Chicago just to go there again, it's that good. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere is nice inside and the prices are very affordable for what you get--the portions are a great value. It's in a great location too--about a 15-20 minute walk to Navy Pier.

Okay, so before I come off as a major biotch I would like to say I am all about people having fun especially at work but there is a time and place for everything. So here goes my lovely potbelly story. One rainy night I was too lazy to cook so I walked my lazy ass down the street to the nearest potbelly. I walk in there are about a total of 3 people in line and prolly 5 workers, one of which is singing at the top of her lungs singing some laaame song. What is this, Coldstone? Please stop signing. SO I walk up to order my sandwich--it takes the sandwich making guy like legit 7 minutes to slap some turkey on my wheat bread and sent it through the oven, then I have to wait another 8 mintes before the next guy is ready to put the rest of the jazz of my sandwich all the while I'm thinking to myself, " what the shit is taking so long!?!" Come on people, finish your conversation after I leave with my sammich. I have places to be and Gossip Girl to watch! And P.S. their bread totally hurts the top of my mouth. The end.

After spending $7+ on mediocre to bad sandwiches all summer in the suburbs of California, I am really excited about Potbelly's. This is the best $4 sandwich I've ever had. It reminds me of Sandwich World in Newport Beach, CA--but better and only 2/3 the price! It's not the greatest or most creative sandwich, but it's: -neatly made and doesn't fall apart when you try to eat it; -tastes good--I really like the hot peppers here; -and warm--the bread is toasted! I got "A Wreck" (salami, ham, turkey, roast beef, swiss) and a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie. The cookies are also a lot better than in most bakery cafes in California, but they're not "fly out to chicago to eat a cookie and visit me while you're here" good. I'd say they're worth the calories and well-priced at 99 cents, though. My total came out to under $6 AFTER tax. And the nice lady at the register gave me an extra cookie, which made me feel more welcome on my first visit to Potbelly's. Maybe she felt bad for me because my purse clashed with my shirt. Who knows. I thought it was nice of her. In fact, everyone there seemed really nice. I'll definitely be back.

Five stars because it's a great value! I had one of their "Big" roast beef sandwiches, and it was delicious. But I am most impressed by their salads. I hate when places sell $7+ salads that are jut 90% plain lettuce and croutons. Potbelly's understands this. I had the Italian salad here, and it was chock full of substantial toppings like artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, chickpeas, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, salami/Italian meats, and cheese, all over quality romaine lettuce. It had croutons too, but not just any croutons, some really good ones. And the Potbelly vinaigrette dressing is really good too. All this for only $5.60 pre-tax. I'm sold.

I LOVED these sandwiches! The hot peppers are the bomb!! My old favorite hot sandwich used to be Earl of Sandwich, but those take the backseat to these! They use the perfect amount of toppings, and the option for less bread is awesome. I got an extra to go.

This franchise location just went to WINNING with the advent of acquiring a fountain machine, which means free refills! Tit for tat, I guess, but I feel Potbelly's isn't as cheap as it used to be. Anyways, this locale is pretty cool, with their acoustic troubadores and everything. It's a nice little getaway for an hour's break from work.
