Good value for $$ with decent portions. ANNIVERSARY PARTY -- low key with emphasis on deals for food and drinks. $3 each slider. $3 shots. $3 beer. Revel Stoke shot girls and unpublished photo-op. *smiles*. PIG ROAST is MIA (missing in action). PULLED PORK SLIDER -- plentiful of pulled pork stuffed in a itty bitty bun. Worth the $3 special price. Sauce only on the edge that prevents sogginess and over saturation of meat. The pickle adds dimension to taste. SOUTHERN BENEDICT -- 1 ham. 1 bacon (about 3 strips). Tasty andouille gravy. The side of potatoes with fresh slightly sweet veggies is addictive. PATIO SEATING (aka sidewalk) -- natural shade and light breeze is great. SERVICE -- informative and helpful. They brown bag food in front of you. Yay! VENUE -- clean, dark, scary and romantic (bring your own candle). I have to come back for Fried Chicken, Chix n Waffles, and more Baby Back Ribs with addictive mustard potatoes.

Great spot to grab a beer and people watch West Loopers go by. The interior is cute and quaint and the pork sliders were delicious.

Good southern mixes of old classics and unique cocktails make this place a hidden gem. I got the Southern Benedict for brunch, which is 2 biscuits with either bacon or ham with 2 poached eggs on top and an andouille sausage gravy instead of hollandaise sauce, with a side of roasted red potatoes. The biscuits and bacon were ok, it's hard to mess up easy staples like that, but the andouille gravy made the dish. Full of flavor with a hint of spice, it was delicious. I also got one of their signature breakfast cocktails, the French 46. It was a mix of Makers Mark 46, simple syrup, lemon juice, OJ, and champagne. I don't usually like a little pulp but this cocktail was tasty enough and strong enough that I didn't mind. I'd highly recommend this place if you're out in the neighborhood.

Let me start by being clear - the food was NOT bad. It was adequate sustenance. Another word for adequate? Average. I had the pulled chicken sandwich, which was quite good. I ordered Dijon smashed potatoes as a side, and that's where I was confused - some bits were warm-ish, some were chilly. I don't know what the dish temperature was supposed to be, nor whether it was reheated (hence the cold bits on a warm dish) or had sat under heat lamps (leading to warm bits in a cold dish.) Drinks are TINY for $10 each, sad face, and whisky pours on flights are itty bitty. We'd probably try this place again, but we'd avoid the drinks. Too little for too much.

Came here around 6 pm on Saturday night after making a reservation. It was not needed at all, the place was kind of slow! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries and also tried the chicken and waffles plate. Pulled pork was not extraordinary, it was good but not amazing like I had hoped. What was amazing was the selection of their house bbq sauces. The chipotle and the damn good sauces were delicious! I smothered my sandwich in the sauces and even dipped fries in it too. The fried chicken with the waffles was delicious! Seasoning was on point and the chicken was so moist!

I realize it's silly to order a veggie sandwich at a place called "Porkchop," but based on their cajun-inspired menu it seemed legit. Boy, was I wrong! Their $9 "Fried Green Tomato sandwich with Arugula" was actually...a breaded plain old RED tomato (mushy and flavorless at that, not tart and retaining its texture like an actual green tomato) garnished with a forlorn piece of ICEBERG LETTUCE. Completely unappetizing and laughable. Sure, finding green tomatoes locally right now might be an adventure...but what's their excuse with the arugula? False advertising, to say the least. They need to take this off the menu if they can't even make the slightest effort to get it right! Disappointed AND hungry. The server was very friendly and attentive...so no complaints there. But based on the food, I can't recommend this place at all.

I came here with a friend who swears by this place and seems to come here all the time. Try the pulled pork, he said. Being a fan of a pulled pork sandwich, it seemed like an ideal situation for me. Was it the greatest pulled pork sandwich I've ever had? Not by any means, but it was good and I liked the option of adding your own sauce to it, although I honestly couldn't tell the difference between them- perhaps I didn't add enough. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles, which sounded amazing, but the chicken looked like it was overdone. It didn't have that light and crispy battered look, more like the dark brown batter you'd get on a cafeteria pork tenderloin sandwich. For my sides, I ordered the green beans, which were good, and the smashed potatoes which were subpar. Though covered in some sort of dijon sauce, they were still pretty bland and I only had a couple, which saved me on some carbs, so that ended up being ok. Oh, and my friend came back a week later and texted me that the tacos were pretty bad, so apparently, you shouldn't have those. The decor is pretty cool and so is their beer list. Service was friendly and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, though it was really, really warm in the restaurant being a hot day and the air conditioning wasn't on. But the food just wasn't crave-worthy. There are so many great restaurant options on Randolph that I probably won't be back.

Barbecue takeout and a season three marathon of Game of Thrones seemed like the perfect answer to a rainy Friday evening. However, Porkchop was not nearly as good as ::spoiler alert:: watching half of the Starks get decimated at that wedding. The Mister and I both ordered the pulled pork sandwich combo; I with mac and cheese and potato salad, he also with mac and cheese and some coleslaw. The pork was very fatty. Not like 'oh they missed a few pieces', no, it was fatty throughout. We had the vinegar BBQ sauce that I really enjoyed and ended up putting on my potato salad. I did that because while the potatoes had an orange tint, suggesting the flavor profile would be different, it was not. They were plain ol' mayo'd spuds. Not when I was done with them! The mac and cheese was probably the biggest downfall. It was so salty I went through my glass of water and the Mister's. I still ate it, because cheese and pasta. But still. Too much salt, Porkchop. The greatest part of the meal was the sweet and spicy cornbread. A little small for $3.75, but this cornbread had a lot of flavor and a fair amount of heat. I don't eat butter, but the Mister said that was where the sweet came in. I guess Porkchop found cows with a pension for candy. Kidding. Overall, I thought the food was a bit disappointing, especially for a $20 mininum order and a $5 delivery fee. Maybe it's better when eaten in-house?

The food at Porkchop was good, in fact I liked everything I ate (sausage lollipops, chicken & waffles). The reason I'm giving the restaurant two stars is because: 1) We had an 8pm reservation and had to wait 31 minutes to be seated. Now I totally understand that on a Saturday night restaurants in Chicago are going to be busy, HOWEVER, if I make a reservation for a specific time I expect to be seated within a 5-8 minute window of that reservation. Waiting for 31 minutes just seemed insane. If we hadn't paid for a taxi to get to the restaurant we would have left to go find a McDonalds. 2) Once we were seated we had to wait 13 minutes for a waiter/waitress to come over up our table. Actually, the bartender (who was really nice) actually had to come from behind the bar to wait on us because she saw that we had been sitting there for a long period of time without anyone coming to our table to take any order (drink/food) from us. Again I understand that sometimes one will still have to wait even of you have a reservation, but being ignored by the waitress who was just waiting on the people who left the table you are now sitting at is unacceptable. Thankfully my food was good.

What an amazing experience!! Their list of whisky was impressive, and both cocktails I tried were delicious! I got the BBQ pork sliders and they were very good. Service was quick and friendly- thanks to Jeannine for her excellent service and attention to detail! I can't wait to come back!

really think the baby back rib are good. Server I got was very nice. The rib tip sandwich is also excellent. In the near west side this is my favorite barbecue place.

Bottom line: Skip it. Restaurant was unkept....complete with stained menus. Service was slow and uninviting. My food was piping hot (microwaved) and my wife's was cold, soggy and unflavorful. We ended up sending the cold food back and had to wait 15 minutes for the manager to arrive and provide the comp. Why she wasn't there at start of business pretty much explains the direction of the establishment. We had high hopes and were very let down.

If you don't want to wait on Randolph, go here. I've been on a Friday night, no wait. Now went for brunch at 10:30 on a Sunday, no wait, in fact, there was barely anyone there. I'm not sure why, I've enjoyed my food both times. Brunch I had the fast Elvis waffles, which were delicious! My husband had the chicken and waffles. The chicken wasn't the greatest ever but the waffles were simple and fluffy. For dinner I think we had burgers and those were pretty good. Don't dismiss this place just because they aren't busy.

I went to Porkchop with high hopes for some good BBQ. I saw the mixed reviews and thought we would give it a shot. We went there on Sunday evening of the MLK holiday weekend figuring it might a little busy, we made reservations and went. The first impression was we thought they might be closed as the restaurant was dark and no valet in front. We parked and found the place open but only a couple of tables occupied. Our reservations weren't needed but still nice to have. We ordered some drinks and fried pickle appetizer while we looked at the menu. When our waitress brought the drinks we ordered our meal and while we were talking our appetizer was brought but the pickles looked weird since they were the fried ribs. I asked the man who delivered them if these were the fried pickles and he said yes and ran off. I called the waitress over and showed her the plate which she was immediately shocked by and took it away as it was for another table. She apologized for the mistake. The pickles came out and while the cornbread breading was nice and crispy, the slices were thick and the middle of the slices weren't warm. I should of saw a theme of what my dining experience was going to be like but it did not hit me yet. When the mistake ribs were brought, the delivery guy gave us some plates. The plates were greasy like they had not been washed recently or not properly washed. We asked for fresh plates. I heard raves about the ribs so I tried them. It was strange, the bones of the ribs were hot but the meat was luke warm. The meat had a great flavor and was tender but the temperature made me think rewarmed in the microwave. My wife got the better of the meal, she ordered the fried chicken which was a winner. The chicken was crunchy outside and moist inside. A great dish. We gave the rum raisin bread pudding a shot. The ice cream was good. Usually the bread pudding is warmed before serving, this wasn't. It was also supposed to have a glaze on it but was just coated with powdered sugar. I think if the dessert had been warmed and finished with the glaze, it would have been better. Overall the visit was a wash. Our waitress was attentive and did her best, and the food had good flavors but the mistakes from the kitchen negated the positives. Go with hopes of a good experience but set the bar low so you won't be disappointed.

This is my second time coming here and the place is pretty good. It is reasonable pricing and the portions are a good size. Tuesdays they have $3 tacos. I recommend the pulled pork tacos with the spicy BBQ sauce on them. The chicken wings here are probably some of the best I have had as they are slow cooked and very flavorful. It's never been too crowded either when I've come so there won't be a long wait for a table.

We were really disappointed in the barbecue here. Tried several different things and they were mostly overcooked. The ribs were tough. The sauce is okay, but probably will find alternative places to eat BBQ.

I couldn't find a page (or whatever) for the new Porkchop on Adams , between Wabash and State , but , friends , I hadda tell ya , there's a new place to eat , Downtown , and it's NOT another sandwich shop ....I ordered a sandwich , anyway , but it was a RIB TIP sandwich. IT WAS GOOD , TOO ! I know it's hip to slam Bar B Cue joints for not having enough "Smoky flavor" (Put some charcoal or mesquite in your mouth if the meat is getting in the way.) , but , I 've got to say , I dug the subtle smoky flavor to the uttermost, and I got WAY more , for what's technically not an entree, than I expected. That , chips and a soda (They carry lots of small label "exotic"fizzy drinks , as well as the usual.) , for less than $10. Yes , in Chicago. The service was great , and the atmosphere was amusing (Psuedo Texas roadhouse look.) , not entirely spacious , but perfectly comfortable (As long as you realize this is Bar B Cue , so , BE THANKFUL YOU'RE NOT BEING SERVED THROUGH BULLET PROOF GLASS, AND YOU CAN ACTUALLY EAT INSIDE , instead of scrambling for a bench , or taking it home , just in time for it to go cold . I called my boy , James , as I was leaving. He said he was at Randolph on the train , so , could I wait there , for him ? I went back in ( The smell of the 'cue is heavenly. You can TELL the food's going to be good .) , and my friend ordered the medium priced ribs (They don't sell them by half and full slab , they have three kinds.) , For $14 , he easily got as much as the average slab , and he told me it rocked. Next time I go , I think I'll get the ribs and links (They call it "Spicy Sausage".), That was $16 or $17 , a bargain on the North side , as Yuppies gourmetize over cheaper cuts of pork , when they never patronized the late , great NN Smokehouse , Bar B Cue Bob's , Ashimi's or even the Leon's on Ashland.

What a disappointment! The service...meh...I order friend green tomatoes without reviewing the menu...the Hyde Park location has them on their menu. The waitress took the order only to return to say they're not on the menu...didn't you know that when you took the order? No biggie...when the food arrive (my friend had ribs, I had fried catfish) it was so poorly plated that the food almost slid from both plates. It just looked ridiculous but still...no biggie as long as it tastes great! Well...it wasn't horrible but it surely wasn't the restaurant quality I was expecting! The ribs were tender but dry...didn't know that was possible. The catfish was good but nothing special. The red beans and rice is where they really loss me! It had no "southern" flavor! Just bland and watery! The Hype Park location is better but not by much. Here's to hoping for improvement...it surely is a cute place, decent pricing and both great locations.

Good food. Decent prices. No wait!! I've been here twice (dinner and brunch) and everything I've had was delicious. They have $5 mimosas on Sundays, which are great. The ambiance is unique and modern / industrial. I think the restaurant owners really need to work on better advertising / marketing as the place was less than half full both times I have been there. RATINGS: Sausage Lollipops: 3/5 Fat Elvis waffles: 4/5 Chicken & Waffles: 3/5 Mimosa: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 3/5

Originally, we had wandered into another restaurant down the street and were surprised that it was packed on a Tuesday night after 8. We have seen Porkchop a number of times and decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised to see absolutely no customers at Porkchop - however, this should have been our signal to suck it up and wait in the lines at ANY other restaurant on Randolph. (and I mean ANY OTHER). Beause it was sooo dark in there that we needed our phones to order, we decided to inquire about a few items on the menu to our waitress who was chilly at best and completely checked out. Second reason to run? Once I got my flashlight going for the menu, I could see the floor was filthy - even through the murk. The beer selection was pretty good and so were the deep fried rib appetizer - this is where the fairy tale ends. I am not kidding when I say we were the only ones in the place. They messed up our order - kinda laughable - I would hate to see what happens if we had made it complicated like being a party of three. Like other reviewers, we witnessed the public use of the bathroom by a drunken man (carrying a newspaper) - ew. We were close to finishing up our dinners; he had mediocre brisekt that came fully equipped with a bucket of BBQ sauce already on top and a side of semi-tasteless volcanic hot (temperature) baked beans. I opted for the strangely seasoned, overcooked black and blue burger served on a petrified pretzel bun. We both had a side of fries which, in this day and age in the Chicago restaurant scene, have no business being anything but at least 3 stars (nope). During dinner and after our waitress never came back - but she definately put on a show behind the bar! We witnessed her working her "magic" - doing shots with some random men that had walked in for $4 fire shots, loudly and repeatedly discussing what she called her "baby beers" (I think that is what she refers to as her small samples of beer/personal cocktail??) and trying to upsell all of them on ordering something other than what they came in for (maybe because she wanted another one herself?). We finally flagged down our bus boy and asked him to get our bill. (we were still the ONLY people in the place and the table was not 25 feet from the bar). The waitress/bartender acknowledged him and then kept chatting/upselling the group of men for another 5 minutes until finally bringing our bill. After charging us, she then announced to them that "she was going out for a cigarette" leaving them completely unattended in the restaurant, and walked out the door (at the same time as us), and headed around the corner. There was another waitress there working tables outside(?) who the other had also roped into doing a shot with them. I hope the owner(s) of this place read this review- if it were me, I sure would want to know where my profits were going and why repeat business most assuredly is down.

I've tried The pulled Pork, burger, and mac n cheese from pork chop. Overall, just not a big fan of this restaurant. The burgers are big but not seasoned well. Maybe try one of the sauces ( bbq sauce nothing to write home about) The pulled pork is alright but again lacking in flavor and can be dry. The mac n cheese was actually pretty decent. Overall, i there are better options in the West Loop. No issues with customer service.

After picking up my order a few times, I decided to order delivery. I always get the same thing which is the BBQ chicken salad in which I think is pretty good. However, when I get this item delivered they always seem to forget the best part of the salad which is the BBQ chicken. The first time I immediately called told the driver who told me to call the restuarant. The second time I called the restaurant and they REFUSED to resend my order. They stated that it was NO WAY that they forgot the chicken and refused to provide me with a refund OR resend my order. After spending $30 on delivery WHY would I try to cheat them out of some pulled chicken??? This was horrible customer service after talking to both the hostess and manager. Absolutely Horrible service. Do not use them for delivery! I will never order from them again! Especially after seeing all these medicore reviews it seems like all the trouble is defintely NOT worth it. They just lost a paying customer. PorkChop on Randolph, the food is NOT worth the hassle.

I can't stand illogical policies. Porkchop has ribs on the menu. Beef Ribs and Pork Ribs. These ribs are the same price on the menu. They also have a BBQ platter which has several BBQ things as well as an unspecified "half rack of ribs." I ordered this and specified Beef Ribs. I was told that it comes with Pork Ribs. I am not that fond of Pork Ribs and asked if, since they are the same price and it isn't specified on the menu, they could just do the Beef Ribs instead. I was told definitely not. I asked if they could ask the kitchen, they did and definitely not. I asked to speak with the manager and described how illogical this is and how easy it would be to fix. She said, absolutely not. As someone who believes in "voting with my money" and don't like poor service and illogical policies, I decided to move on. I was honestly trying this place out because I have a large party I am planning and BBQ is what is what was requested. Luckily for tonight's dinner, there are a ton of great establishments all along Randolph.

Recently gave porkchop another try after the last disappointment. Sad to say I was disappointed again. Now in the past the food here has always been good, except the recent two visits. I've tried their fried chicken, catfish and the damn good ribs and my favorite of them all are the damn good ribs. The first time I order the ribs I was absolutely satisfied, they were tender, flavorful and juicy. Even after the first visit the visits after that the food has been wonderful and yummy! Until the last recent two visits which were disappointing. The first disappointed visit my salad was the best part of my meal then just two weeks ago the only thing good was my salad, bbq sauce and drink. My ribs were dry and overcooked, I don't know if it's the cook or it was a slow day of business. I tried to reach out to the manager days before we went in for dinner to makesure our next visit would be a better experience. I also tried to see if she was available when we arrived for dinner and she wasn't available. Tried calling in after and she wasn't in when I finally got in contact with her, I explained to her how I felt about the quality of my food and was told she would let the owner know. Customer service here is always great but after the last visit I don't think I'll be back. I was left feeling slightly unfulfilled when leaving Porkchop. Porkchop is good for a meal when the food is fresh.

We went here on a Saturday night around 6:30ish-- had a reservation but it wasn't really needed. We found that Porkchop has a great drink selection-- from craft brews to whiskey. Beer comes in a mason jar-- the key to my heart. We tried the fried pickles to start. The breading was thick and crunchy, not mushy like some tend to be. For dinner, we tried the cornbread which came with a small cup of butter for extra deliciousness. If you love cornbread, you will LOVE this cornbread. We also had the chicken and waffles. It's hard to screw up chicken and waffles, but the chicken was perfection and the maple syrup had just the right kick. We also tried a slab of ribs--they were very good, too. The coleslaw was a bit tasteless and the fries were soaked in barbecue sauce by the time we got to them. I'd like to see the fries on a separate plate, but I'm not going to bump down a star for that. All in all, it was a great meal with excellent service. We'll be back again for some chicken and ribs-- maybe next time we'll bring out of town guests along.

Tuesday $2 dollar whiskey shots. Not sure if they still have it as a special, as I went over the summer, but if they do its a great day to visit. I've been to Porkchop a few times and always have had a great experience. Food is excellent. The grilled pork chop is probably my favorite on the menu. And its reasonably priced especially considering all the other restaurants on the Randolph strip. If you are looking for a dinner spot thats not a black tie affair or a sports bar, this is the spot for you. Its right in the middle. Whisky and Pork... Hard combination to beat.

Save your money, save your time and save the frustration of finding a parking space. The food is not all that, you WILL find better and the service leaves a lot to be desired, like, actual good service. There are far too many restaurants in Chicago to put this on your list for places to eat.

Go Porkchop! Oh wait, I am channeling our day last Saturday. We had tickets to the Illini game at the United Center. (Yes, they did win for the first time in 4 years, thanks for asking.) This seemed like just the right kind of place to come before a game and was in the right direction when we were done. Because of the overall rating, I arrived with moderate expectations and Porkchop just blew me away! We were the first people here for an 11:00 reservation. It seemed silly to say that we had one when the place was empty and just opening but hey, Open Table points add up! Our server was very personable and explained the menu to us. She was extremely accommodating and cheerful. The restaurant is smallish but our table was roomy and well placed so that I could star at the saws hanging from the ceiling. It gave the place a pretty unique vibe! I ordered cranberry juice, coffee and chicken and waffles, what else? This was our breakfast and lunch so we shared two apps - the elote and the shrimp/sausage skewer. Such a good combo of smooth versus chewy, creamy versus spicy. We loved both of them but the andouille sausage brought a bit of a tear to my eye. When the chicken and waffles arrived I wished we had split because it was HUGE. I had two giant fried chicken breasts that were mouthwatering good with a perfect waffle and out of this world syrup infused with the slightest spice. What an amazing combo of sweet, spice, crunch, meat, carb packed full of flavor. I know my rating is bucking the trend but hey, can Illini fans be wrong? After we arrived a stream of other orange and blue folks followed us. We were also very pleased with the extremely reasonable bill and want to return for the bbq. The meal was definitely something to cheer about! Like I said to start: Go Porkchop!

Any restaurant named after a meat has my vote. And it's a porkchop? Two votes. We ate here before the basketball game at the United Center and my real dilemma was which meat to eat and what kind of bbq. Then I saw the Chicken and Waffles, problem solved. I have a thing for Chicken and Waffles so I had to try these out. We also had elote and shrimp with sausage appetizers which were really good but probably prevented me from finishing my main event. Chicken? Hot and fabulous! Waffle? The best one in my Chicken and Waffle tour. Syrup was also a standout. The only fail here was my ability to finish the chicken. You read that right, I wasn't able to finish the chicken and waffles as it is such a huge portion. We will be back as there were too many tempting barbeque dishes and meaty plates calling my name.

Bomb BBQ spot in the west loop. Plenty of street parking, especially on weeknights. I highly recommend going with the classic slab of ribs and side of creamed spinach. I went there on a Friday night with my family and there was no wait and the service was super speedy. The restaurant is loud and a tight space so if you are looking to have a deep conversation instead of licking the BBQ off your fingers...then you are a loser. But most importantly don't be that table of girls sipping martinis with no trace of food ordered. Awesome place, I would definitely go back!

I'm glad I saw the negs AFTER I ate there last week. The pork ribs I ordered were the very best I've ever eaten. Anywhere. Ever. Really meaty and tender with a nice char and the spicy sauce. I don't live in Chicago and am now spoiled because no other ribs will ever measure up. One less star because THEY WERE OUT OF CORNBREAD! Maybe too harsh, but how does one have BBQ and not have cornbread?? Cornbread aside, I must agree with some of the reviews that said the service just didn't measure up. It was a slow night and we were a large party of 10. Our waitress was just OK. Not much hustle. Made herself pretty scarce and was hanging out at the bar - granted it was a slow night. We just had to grab whomever was exiting the kitchen whenever we needed something. I don't review much so maybe this is a topic that's been touched on and I'm behind in the conversation; I 'get it' and by now, pretty much expect, that a gratuity is automatically added to the check for a large party. I'm not keen to recommend a place where we receive mediocre service and the tip be (a guaranteed) 20%. Automatic tips are the norm - OK - but what REALLY chaps me is this ... Gratuity is calculated on the taxed amount! We're paying 20% on top of the sales tax? Wrong. Just wrong.

Here is the situation. My wife and I were looking forward to having some good barbecue and we really enjoy trying new places. It's a Sunday, the Bears are playing the Lions. We get to this place and are actually pleased it isn't packed with a bunch of people just wanting to watch the game. I quickly understand why, the place is small and only hosts 2 probably 22" flat screens. Oh well, we didn't come here to watch the game, we came to eat some good food. Which the pace failed at miserable. I ordered the brisket plate because I was sold on the description. My wife, as per usual, ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The food actually came out pretty quick which is a bonus, but again the place wasn't busy at all. My brisket is absolutely swimming in BBQ sauce and the first bite I had was PURE FAT. The second bite I had was PURE FAT. So now at least I am trying to wipe away some of the BBQ sauce so I can at least see if I am eating meat or fat. I'd say the rest of my plate was about 35% fat and 65% actual meat. The sauce was decent at best too. Oh which we had to ask for as well. I mean my plate came with chips (ordered instead of fries big mistake) so I would expect the server to bring me something to eat that with correct? After asking her for some sauce, she brings three bottles, one which is clearly empty sweet BBW sauce, a second which is a "spicy" chipotle sauce and I put that in quotes, and a bottle of ketchup. The ketchup was the best sauce. Let me repeat, the ketchup was the best sauce. My wife's sandwich wasn't that good either. Her fries were pretty good but at this point we both feel like we are just shoving empty, stupid, crappy calories in our stomach. We won't go back. On a side note, while we were there, there was member of the 85 bears watching the game and someone else won a trip to Vegas. So I know they are "trying" to make it a great place, but I would suggest starting with the food. Come on PorkChop! Make the food better! We really wanted to like this place too!

I wanted to love it, I really did. The decor was a little funny, a little funky and a little scary - my kind of mix! Mustaches drawn on all the paintings made me laugh. re-purposed glass jars as lights made my green side grin. A wall of saws linked together by chains intrigued me. I ordered a bacon bloody mary. The cold bacon on a skewer wasnt that great but the drink was strong and worth the $9 although, I could have used a bit more bloody. I grew very fond of shrimp and grits last year while in Georgia and South Carolina. So much, that I ordered it three times in five days. I got excited to see it on the menu. It was good but missing that special southern flare. I feel like everyone else at the table got more food for their money than I. Overall it's a decent place that I'd go back to for drinks more so than food.

First time visit and will make a return trip. The decor is kind of awesome (let's just say floating wall of saws). Tried the macque choux (mixed grilled vegetables with spices) and the pulled pork tortilla soup - both were great. Their sauces are good and have a great brunch menu on Sundays. It's in an up a coming district and has blood orange hollandaise. The server was also spectacular. If you go, ask for Chelsea!

Really nice staff and great food. Had several lunch starters, shrimp & sausage, blackened fish tacos, elotes, chix/waffles. My 10 year old son had wings, and they're maybe the best wings I've ever tasted. Smoked. Rad. Good beer selection too

Underwhelming. Liked the decor-- fun. Boyfriend got the ribs-- they were tender, but not very flavorful. He ended up using a lot more sauce than he likes I got the fried chicken: super disappointing. No flavor at all. At least they were piping hot and moist, but I've had better fried chicken from jewel at a quarter of the price. Not to mention they sat us at a table that our waiter couldn't even get to (stroller in the way). He was forced to hand us water and beer over the railing behind us. He was very apologetic about it. I know it was busy, but don't sit people in random corners you can't properly serve -- we would have rather waited a bit longer for an actual table. Or help your other patrons store their stroller properly and not blocking an entire table. Thank god for some acceptable beer on their $3 special!

Stopped here while walking from our hotel to the city winery to see a concert and stopped because the food we saw and smelled from the outside diners looked good. I had the BBQ platter and everything on the plate was good. I wish I remembered the name of our waitress because she was excellent and even talked some appropriate smack when she found out we were visiting from the Detroit area. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Chicago.

Stopped into porkchop for lunch. The name porkchop may be a little misleading as from what I could tell there were no porkchops on the menu. There was however plenty of pork. The restaurant itself is cool little divey joint. There was a really cool piece of decor that was comprised of saws chained together and hanging from the ceiling. The service was pretty good considering there was one server who also acted as the host and one bartender. There were about 5-6 tables and he handled it no problems. The food was very good too. I had a pulled pork sandwich served on a pretzel bun and a side of cornbread with a honey butter to dip. The cornbread on its own was really good but I didn't care for the butter. The pork was flavorful and their chipotle BBQ sauce was quite tasty. Overall it was a good experience I would certainly go back if I was nearby. So I would recommend.

Confused about how this place is in business. We had food catered from Porkchop for lunch in our office. We ordered for 70 and only received 40 sandwiches. They were unable to bring more sandwiches that day...kind of an awkward experience to start eating lunch and realize that half of the office won't get any food... They did promise free sandwiches for our office on a different day, so we were excited to give them another chance. We planned a happy hour for the office with the intent of using our raincheck. We tried calling for weeks and left messages, but no one was able to help us or return our calls. Besides the horrible service, the food was very average and not memorable.

To put this in perspective; I've been a Yelp/OpenTable user for years, but no one restaurant has ever sucked enough to get me to actually write a review. That moment has finally arrived. Here's a message for all BBQ restaurant owners: I know how to use the unlimited supply of sauce you provide on your tables. I don't need you to drench my food before it ever lands on the table. The meat was a disgusting soup like splatter on my plate, partly because of the excess sauce and part due to the fat in the brisket. The sweet potato fries were the worst I've tasted Blunty stated, Porkchop was absolutely atrocious.

Their cooks cook like they get treated poorly by management. Catfish did not taste fresh and was overpriced; crust was a bit hard and chewy not at all crispy. The skinny bartender seemed new, super aloof, didn't even give us a "hi how are you." She gave me a snotty answer when I asked if we could park in the front. I was just double checking.

If you're wondering how a restaurant on Randolph Street manages to only have 3 stars, just come to Porkchop. Actually no, save your time and money. Granted we came in at the tail end of the Taste Randolph festival, so maybe a slip up here or there is expected... But a good restaurant would plan ahead and maybe anticipate some things that might trip them up. We were seated at the long communal table toward the door, and waited at least 10 minutes before our waitress even came over to say she would "be right back" before disappearing for another 10 minutes. When she did finally come back, she wasn't even ready to take our orders and had to come back again. We finally were able to order drinks and food at the same time since we'd been looking at the menu for over 20 minutes at that point. The one star is for the beer--great selection of draft, bottles, and cans. We went with the Revolution saison, a great summer beer but also a great anytime beer. But they've also got a bunch of local and national craft beers. For food, I ordered pulled pork tacos with a side of collard greens (because I can't see collards on ANY menu and not order them) and my boyfriend got the pulled pork sandwich and a side of red beans and rice. The pulled pork was tasty on both the tacos and the sandwich, and would probably earn this place another star if our entire order of food hadn't been cold. Some dude came up to us as we were drinking our beers and said "hey, did you guys order food?" When we answered in the affirmative, he just walked away, so maybe that explains why the food was cold. The tacos come with salsa but the bbq sauce is a better option. Also, the collard greens were basically a few soggy, tasteless greens that tasted like they hadn't been flavored with anything. I contemplated asking for some vinegar but realized it might take another 10 minutes so I decided against it. This may have just been an off night for Porkchop, and this was just my single experience, but it is definitely at the bottom of my Chicago barbecue list. Also, the bathroom line was literally out the door because people were coming in from the festival to use it. It got to the point where a guy was going through the line asking people if they were actually eating and drinking in the restaurant, and people would just say "oh yeah, over there" and just point in any random direction. Just a strange situation. We likely won't be returning and definitely would not recommend.

Horrible service on a very competitive street. Memorial Day weekend and we waited almost an hour for our food. When food finally came it was cold and was not fresh. Found hair in the Mac and Cheese. Waitress brought out wrong beer. Fried green tomatoes were mushy and slimy. Waitress showed no empathy and obviously didn't understand good service. Customers all around complaining about the same issues. Had to look at dirty tables during the meal as none were cleaned off. Watched two other table get up and walk out on service. Wish we would have done the same.

Came here with a large group several weeks ago. During the Stanley Cup playoffs. Was basically empty, which was kind of surprising. My buddy's family had come here before and they said they loved it. And I love me some BBQ, so obviously was excited. Wasn't overwhelmed by any dish really. Place itself is cool, love the decor. The bar was fun and the few guys watching the Blackhawks game were fun. But back to the food. The Mac n Cheese was probably some of the most mediocre I've had in the city. Really no flavor whatsoever. Literally none. I thought the wings were decent. The sausage lollipops were different and good, nothing out of of this world though. Would I order it again? Probably not. Even though I love BBQ, since my wife was ordering some, I went with the southern fried chicken. I thought it was pretty good. I've had better for sure, but I liked the dish. I tried some of the pulled pork was not impressed. Not much flavor again and needed a lot of sauce to dress it up. Never a good sign with BBQ. Great service all around, fast, attentive, friendly. I know it's in a tough location with some amazing spots nearby. Hard competition. But if I'm craving BBQ, I would not come back. To be honest, probably wouldn't come back regardless. Good BBQ place should have people in the restaurant. We were the only ones here. Eh.

This place is known.......... for their pork. Located on Randolph, this place faces stiff competition from neighboring restaurants galore. The inside of the place is nice and homely, with interesting decorations like rusty saws and butcher knives hanging the wall. I ordered the pulled-pork sandwich and it was phenomenal. It was sandwiched in between two well-baked buns and you get your choice of various BBQ sauces. I think my favorite was the "Damn Good" BBQ sauce. It had a nice small and subtle kick to it and went well with my sammich. The fries that came with the sandwich was deep-fried to a decent golden-brown. The wait staff was nice and attentive, and was helpful as well.

We were craving bbq and the wait at Green St was too long so swung by here for a Sunday night dinner. Place was not packed AT ALL so that should have been a red flag. We got fried pickles which I didn't like too much since it's bigger pickles than say the ones at Bub a City. We got the house burger which was pretty average, definitely not comparable to burgers at neighbors like Au Cheval or even Grange Hall and the pulled pork sandwich which was dry. What saved it were the Chipotle and Chicago hot sauce. Probably would not come back.

I only stopped in for the BBQ pork sliders, which came out very swiftly . The pork was juicy and the barbecue sauce slightly spicy, just how I like it. The interior is nice and includes its own bar, turned out just fine for a quick lunch.

Came here late at night for after-the-bar meal. PP got their famous fried chicken and damn was it good! super crunchy. We saved one piece for the next morning and after going through the microwave it still had some crunch to it. I got the fried ribs appetizer but it ended up being sizable for an entree. The ribs were deep fried and also amazing. Food is an A. Location is in a cool hip neighborhood and interior was nice, A. Price to food ratio is an A. Service was good! B+.

Went here on a whim this past rainy and cold Saturday afternoon with the bf and a girlfriend. Being fat asses and hungry, we ordered the following: - Fried pickles - Pork tacos - Bowl of gumbo - Fried green tomato and bacon sandwich - Fried chicken and waffle sandwich - BBQ sample platter - Side of cornbread with honey butter Starters: The fried pickles are cut VERY thick and have a cornmeal batter. While we do enjoy a good fried pickle, these were cut too thick for our taste, but the dipping sauce was excellent! The pork tacos were dry, but when given a healthy serving of the salsa verde, it came together nicely. The gumbo was surprisingly bland. I was hoping for more of a kick, but it was filling and had a lot of great stuff goin' on (I'm looking at you, andouille sausage!). Side: The cornbread came out served in a slice (think a slice of cornbread instead of pie) with a healthy serving of honey butter. To be completely honest, the honey butter looks a little off putting--we assumed it would've come out as a spreadable butter, but it was melted and was better poured. BUT, this was the best possible outcome because the cornbread soaked up every but of the honey butter once we poured it onto the plate. So good. Main: The fried green tomato sandwich has two giant fried green tomato slices (with a cornmeal batter). I didn't try it, but my girlfriend said it wasn't up to par with what she had in mind (the bacon was cut into pieces rather than long strips of bacon). The BBQ sample platter came with ribs, BBQ chicken, and fries. The BBQ chicken was reaaaaaally dry, but oh-so good with the chipotle bbq sauce they bring to each table. The ribs again, were dry, but the taste was there. The chicken and waffle sandwich was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. The chicken itself was cooked to perfection--very juicy, but cooked all the way through. The belgian waffles were fluffy and sweet enough so you can add syrup to this beautiful baby. Each bite was awesome sauce. The service was awesome--our server was always checking up on us and refilling out drinks. Overall, I could only give it 3 stars, because while the food had taste, everything (other than the chicken/waffle sandwich) was dry and not up to par with other BBQ joints we've been to. But I'll definitely be back for that chicken/waffle sandwich!

Wow did this place suck. Got tacos with zero flavor. Didn't even get a napkin or silverware. But the mood was lifted from the barely audible country music and ESPN2 Poker on the TV. Wow.

It wasn't a terrible meal or experience, but I definitely do not see myself returning to Porkchop. Here are some comments I said out loud to my dining companions during our visit here: 1. "Are they really going to seat us right by the door when the place is half empty and it's effing cold outside? At least put us at the communal table" 2. "Is your glass clean?" 3. "I definitely did not expect this $8 portion of hush puppies to only have six little hard balls but at least the sauce is delicious." 4. "I'm going to test our server and see if she recommends the chicken and waffles and I'm only ordering it if she does." 5. "Are those REAL SAWS hanging behind you?" 6. "I'm so hungry." 7. "I am going to eat all the ribs." 8. "Can we get more sauce?" Food wasn't bad, service wasn't great. I don't regret coming here, but that's about it.

Porkchop has potential, but it just falls short in both service and food. When we walked in with another couple we all stood there for at least 5 minutes before someone came up to seat us. We were honestly just about to walk out when the hostess walked up. They really should make sure they have someone up front at all times so clients don't walk out. My friend and I left an event ravaged, completely starving so when we popped into Porkchop we planned to engorge ourselves on many starter items. We tried the: Mac & Cheese $8 - Elbow mac & cheese in cheddar sauce. Decent but I can't put it in my top tiers of gooey noodles, sadly. Though it was doused in cheese sauce, I didn't find it very flavorful. Trio of Sausage Lollipops $9 - Deep fried sausage on sticks with a spicy remoulade for dipping. Great item and we liked them but we both agreed we weren't sure we $9 liked them. BBQ Pork Sliders $10 - Another starter that was just okay. A slider is a slider but usually BBQ pork sliders are one of the foods I love most in life! These were aiight but I wouldn't get them again on my next visit. I got beer too...because...it was dinner and dinner means beer! They had a pretty good craft beer list so that put a smile on my face. We were both just left feeling slightly unfulfilled when we were leaving Porkchop. Sure our bellies were satiated but something was just missing. Porkchop is good for a meal in a pinch but with so many other viable options nearby, I'd give this one a skip!

Food was mediocre at best. If you're going to name the place Pork chop, than your pork offerings should taste like oink goodness. I had the pulled pork sandwich and the BBQ sauce made the meat taste better. Otherwise, it was rather flavorless. :( The fries were limp and the coleslaw tasted as if they couldn't decide on a mayo or oil/vinegar dressing. The owners need to revisit and refresh the recipes, because the menu offerings are solid.

Awful. 1. Half of draught beers not available. 2. Draught beer system not working. All beers flats. 3. Two hours after ordering, no food. 4. Incapable, incompetent service. Wasn't even available to ask them to screw off on dinner and give us the check for our flat beers. 5. Will be out of business soon.

We usually order from the restaurant in the south loop which is really good , but we made a huge mistake ordering from this location. Four of us ordered the rib tips which was nothing like the ones we had at the other location. When I got my order ,there were 4 pieces of the worst cuts meat I've ever had. They didn't cut them like the south loop location and 2 of the pieces were greasy and all fatty and the other 2 pieces were burnt and dry. I took a couple of bites spit it out , and put it in the garbage where it belonged! This crappy meal came with burnt fries and a teaspoon of coleslaw which was hidden under the foil in the styrofoam box. They even forgot the cornbread which was probably just as bad. I'll never go to this dump again and we were totally hossed by this place! So resist all urges and go somewhere else. They should change the name to "Crap in the Box" !

I kinda stumbled pass this restaurant while walking too waste some time; although after ordering I realized I had seen this place numerous times because of the different events I go too in the area. I was actually about an hour early for one that was just down the street and thought I will get me a soda sip on it until it is time for me check-in. Well, while I was checking out the menu I saw Elotes which is corn in spanish but it was roasted, sprinkled with cheese and don't quote me on this a spicy type sauce or mayo. I'm going to tell you where my mind went when I saw they had this corn and even though it is $3 dollars more than what I would normally pay and that doesn't include tax and tip...My frugal mind could see the lady on the corner pulling the corn out of the cooler...slathering it with mayo, that cajito cheese(which I'm probably spelling wrong), parkay and cayenne pepper...oh yes just as I was sitting there I could taste it, smell it and enjoy the complex but simple flavors on my tongue...but oh no I got a snazzed up version of a simple reciepe that didn't need to be changed or turned hip. I looked at my Hipster version of Mexican corn and thought...I should have gotten the fries it was $2 dollars cheaper and maybe more appetizing. I was disappointed with the one dab of mayo on each cut up piece of corn...I couldn't even get the cheese to stick to the corn...I kept thinking what a waste of time and money. Next time I'm keeping it in the hood so I can get it how it should be for a lot less money! They may serve some other great food choices, but I can't speak on the other food items because I just had the Elotes. The waitress was nice and I maybe back just not for the corn but as always... Enjoy!!!

Slow service, mediocre staff, few items on the menu stuck out as enticing. Highly recommend the fried ribs, excessive but tasty. Make the effort to walk a few more blocks up Randolph, food choices increase exponentially.

I had the chicken and waffles. They were tasty but the chicken breasts were overcooked. I'm a firm believer that food is already dead and does not need to be killed again when cooking. Other than that, our waitress was delightful. We were in a group of twelve and she was very accomodating!!

I have walked by here so many times and final made it in a couple weeks ago for brunch. The skillet I had was decent, but the potatoes seemed a bit tired in it. I tried the Benedict with bbq chicken. The chicken was so dry that I am not sure whether they don't know how to cook it in the first place or it was just really old. Hate to say it, but there are too many great food options in the area that I won't be back.

Stopped by here for some dessert and drinks after going to the Girl and the Goat. The service was awesome and our server was extremely friendly. My boyfriend and I split the bread pudding, which I was initially cautious about, considering I'm not a huge raisin fan, but it turned out to be absolutely delicious. It came with a little scoop of ice cream and was perfect after a nice meal. We also ordered their special for drinks, which was a shot and a beer for (I believe) five or six dollars. It was definitely fun and nice to just relax by the window on a warm night. I'll be back if I'm in the area!

Wow! Some very original and unique BBQ- some of it good, other stuff just okay. If you're looking for traditional BBQ- whether the type you get at a counter in KC or a smokehouse in TX, this probably isn't the place, but otherwise you're in for some good food. Pulled pork sandwich is probably the most authentic thing on the menu, and it came with a heaping of fries as well as onions and slaw to dump on top. While the pork is very good, the brioche bun, sweet potato fries and slaw are all fantastic, which adds a few points. Among the sides, the mac & cheese is awesome- tons of real cheese melted in, and you can get rib meat mixed into it. The corn bread is a giant, moist wedge with this awesome honey butter. The elotes come as a bunch of ears of charred corn- we sliced off the kernels and mixed them with the cojita and chipotle aioli. And finally, for desert, you can't miss the bacon glazed doughnuts. I've only ever had delivery- but I have been by the place several times while in the Randolph area- and the bar is pretty nice as well.

Great local spot that gives you a few modern twists on some southern classics. Chicken and waffles were excellent with a healthy portion of chicken. Chicken fried pork chop was a super thick cut, so take that into account before order. Looking forward to coming back and giving the BBQ a try on the next visit. The saw wall and mason jar light fixtures are a nice touch, but as others have said the noise level is a little too much to carry on a normal conversation.

I was out with a group of friends on a Saturday and we were looking for a late night restaurant. Porkchop showed up on an online list and seemed to be a decent, reasonably-priced option. We arrived around 10:30, and I was immediately suspicious when the restaurant was almost completely empty--not a good sign. Our waitress was attentive, but uninformed about what was available on the drink and food menus. And, she kept on pushing the drinks (sure at $10 a pop, we would be glad to pad our bill) and consistently wanted to clear our plates before we were finished eating. Dinner was average at best. For appetizers, we shared the fried pickles and the pork belly sliders. The fried pickles were okay (I've had much better) and the sliders were good. Okay, not bad. Two of us had the catfish, and although it tasted fresh and healthy, it did not deliver the spicy kick the menu had promised. When asked about his porkchop, my friend described it with a shoulder shrug. The bbq chicken was okay. As many reviewers have noted, the bathrooms are a joke. I get the communal sink (I guess), but come on, put a mirror and some paper towels inside the individual bathrooms! There are SO many great restaurants in Chicago, I felt that choosing to go to Porkchop was a big waste of time and money that could have been spent elsewhere. Look at the wildly extreme reviews here on Yelp--that should tell you that something is amiss here at Porkchop. And, I know for one thing, I should have read the Yelp reviews BEFORE giving this restaurant a try!

I went to Porkchop with my roommate during Taste of Randolph. We got a table outdoors and were promptly taken care of for drinks and food orders, but the table lacked silverware and napkins-- two things that are fairly essential for dining, particularly for a barbeque-style restaurant where things can get saucy! Having to ask for silverware and napkins was a little off-putting. We ordered some appetizers to split, which were good-- the sweet potato fries were flavored with cinnamon (intriguing!) but were not as crispy as I would have liked. The pulled pork sliders were tasty. My experience was lessened when I visited the restroom and found that the door didn't quite lock all the way and there were used paper towels overflowing the trashcan and littering the floor. Again, something that should have been attended to, but I was willing to cut the employees some slack, seeing as how it was probably a busy festival day for them. What really got to me, however, was being intentionally (as far as I could tell) overcharged for the beer I ordered. I ordered a Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA that was $6 on the menu. When the bill arrived, it stated "Dogfish Head 90 minute... $8". Hmmmmm. It's one thing if your server is ringing up your items and accidentally enters a price wrong. I could've rolled with that. But to have it intentionally marked higher on your POS system than it appears on the menu? When I politely pointed the error out to our waitress, she seemed relatively unconcerned, and was less than prompt about returning our corrected check-- on which the beer was corrected from $8 to the listed price of $6 with a discount captioned "Making Friends." (So... you make friends with your customers by charging them the correct price for the items they ordered?) Not that I was expecting the beer to be taken off my check necessarily, but when a pricing error is made, it's always nice to see a willingness on part of the management to fix the mistake and actively try to improve the situation, not to correct the check to the price it should've been in the first place. Is the $6 you just made worth having a customer leave feeling dissatisfied and unwilling to return? Probably not.

I was filled with excitement and immediately put this place on a pedestal because of its name. Ordered a pork belly sandwich...very dry, the bun was burnt, the relish was good but not enough. Service was below average and the layout was confusing and dark. Top the experience off with dirty glasses and its a definite no second trip for me!

Okay, since they took down my original review based on how terrible the business is, I'll review how awful the food was. We started with the sausage skewers. Totally undercooked and also salty. Definitely not worth it. For dinner had the risotto which was more like a plate of slop with some bacon chopped up in it. I feed my dog more appealing food than this. Seriously, this place is not good. And the fact that they kept a live pig outside in 100 degree weather, icing on the cake--which if they had I'm sure would be dry.

Bad bad bad. Got there 30 minutes after open. They told us the kitchen wasn't ready but we could sit and have a drink. Okay, fine. Ordered their "signature" drink, their Manhattan with a bacon wrapped cherry. Disgusting. The bacon was old and gross, and i just ended up having a drink with little bits of solidified fat floating in vermouth and bitters, with a hint of whiskey. Got the sausage lollipops, since they had been spamming Facebook about them. This place had been open for less than a week.... the pictures showed 4 pops in a real cool wooden block serving thing. instead, we got three pops thrown on a plate. Not the biggest deal in the world, but how are you going to advertise one thing, and then sell another? they tasted okay. A little overdone and chewy. I'd probably get them again if they cost a little less. The menu itself was pretty empty and pretty boring. We ended up getting the only two things that looked good and decided to split them: The fried chicken and the pork chops. The pork chop was raw. We had already been there way too long and I just wanted to get the hell out, so i just ate the part that seemed cooked and crossed my fingers. I figured, the place had only been open for a few days, the chops couldn't be old enough to kill me. The part that was "cooked" was chewy, and seasoned with what seemed to be just pepper and way too much salt. I think they used my recipe from back in preschool when the teachers asked all the kids how to cook food because it was cute and quirky how 4 year olds have no idea how it works. I will say this... the fried chicken was AMAZING. Some of the best fried chicken I've ever had anywhere. I couldn't believe it compared to the rest of the experience. If you do end up here, this is the item you order without even looking at the menu. The whiskey selection was good, even though they were out of the first two that I ordered after the vomit drink, they still had a dozen or so that i've never had to choose from. (White Lightning, by the way, is aptly named) Once we were done and ready to go, my date and I noticed that our knees and shoes were... orange/brown. Apparently, the stain on the bar wasn't dry. So, 60 dollars later, we left annoyed, tipsy, and left with ruined pants. Side note: The "doesn't pay employees claim" is completely legit as well, though I don't know first-hand, thank god. PorkChop, SaltBlock, DumbAss, whatever you call it, just walk a block or two east and eat elsewhere.

Husband ordered the fried chicken and was not thrilled. Friend ordered the chicken fried porkchop and did not like it either. They did like the pulled pork taco appetizers. No one tried the ribs or brisket or anything else, so that all might be good. I tried the fried pickle appetizer, and those were great. One of two options for a non-meat eater was grilled vegetable salad - and it was absolutely the worst! I don't know how a grilled veggie salad can be so completely tasteless, but it was. I asked the server - does this not come with any dressing? She replied that the vegetable were marinated, but would I like some balsamic vinaigrette? Yes, please. Instead of vinaigrette, she brought a small container of straight balsamic vinegar. It didn't help the salad at all. Really disappointing. They had two veggie burgers on the menu, but one had bacon on it (to be fair, it's called "The Hypocrite"), and I wasn't interested in either one. The beer seemed expensive - between 6 and 7 for a draft. I just completely did not get this place, and hope to never have to go back. Husband's idea. He owes me one for this experience.

It was 4:30ish last Sunday and we were a little hungry after a day of hanging around the city. We're fans of Tomato Head next door, but decided to try Porkchop since we haven't been before. Ample parking in the area, we had no trouble finding a spot. It was our family of 4, but, just as we approached the restaurant, the kids fell asleep. No biggie. I carried our youngest and we put our older one in a stroller. We were greeted promptly and they asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, but they took us anyway and seated us at a table near the bar that had enough room to fit the stroller. There were a few other customers in at this time, but from what I've heard, it can get crowded here since it's a smaller restaurant. We only wanted a quick bite so we both ordered burgers, medium, one with regular fries and the other with sweet potato fries. Very good! The burger tasted like it was fresh off the grill, slightly charred on the edges, like we make it at home (but better). Good flavor to the beef and not overdone. Burgers came on pretzel bread which was a bonus for us since we love it. The fries were very good too. Thicker cut on the regular potato and thinner on the sweet. Seasoned just right, and the leftovers still tasted good later that night at home. The other items on the menu look good and we'll be back to try others including the BBQ, brisket, fried pickles. We were definitely happy with our burgers and it made for a great quick meal. In and out within an hour, which was perfect for us. Though, I'm sure if we had wanted to linger, it wouldn't have been a problem, either. Our server was friendly and checked on us frequently. I like the décor here. Feels like a modern-day saloon, or what I imagine it to be. The hanging saws that separate the two dining rooms threw me off at first, but it fits in here. Love the water jars (clamp-top lid type) and the bucket of ice. And the utensils in jars on the table with paper towel readily available. Will be back to try it out again.

huge disappointment. We got the feeling they may be closing soon. They had a nice craft beer list, but only had 3 out of about 15 in stock, and their back bar looked to be missing quite a few whiskey/liquor bottles. We had the fried chicken and fried pork chops for dinner. There was no seasoning on the chicken before it was breaded and vfried so it was quite bland. And although the menu said it came with mashed potatoes, we all got a cooked sliced with skin on potatoes. The service was good, very friendly and on top of it (of course there was only 3 tables there at 8pm on a saturday night)

Went this past Saturday, and I enjoyed it. The food was good. We ordered the elotes, and beet salad for the starters. Loved the corn! I ordered the pan seared catfish and my guy had the ribs with chipotle BBQ sauce. He loves his meat and said that Porkchop has some of the best ribs. The meat was falling off the bone. The service was good. The only down side to Porkchop is the drinks. The cocktails look adventurous on the menu, but they came out like a blah experience. They should hire a bartender that really knows how to make their cocktails. Stick with the beer here.

Service was terrible and food was nothing too special. Also, wasn't a fan of the drink menu/beer selection. Don't drive either, no valet.

A lot of the bad reviews had to do with the staff, I didn't have any of that problem during my visit. What I do have problems with was there were 4 of us in the party and we all ordered the same marinated porkchop. The chops taste good, but they were all in different levels of done-ness. Apparently they cook all chops the same without taking the thickness into consideration, so the result was thicker chops were cooked just right, but the thinner ones were kin of tough to chew. If this problem is solved they would deserve another star. I made my reservation using gdine.com and the deal was great, you basically get an app an entree for the price of the entree.

I work right down the street and walked past this place over 50 times before deciding today to order lunch from there. I ordered the Maxwell Street Pork Chop Sandwich. Why? Because I wanted a sandwich, and if I'm going to a place called pork chop...why not try the pork chop. The menu looks solid. The prices are GREAT in comparison to other restaurants on Randolph. However, the porkchop sandwich did not nail it for me. The chop was tough and had a bone in - which is odd for a sandwich. They should just slice it thin. Also, there was nothing served on the sandwich aside from carmelized onions...I was wishing for a veggie - tomato or lettuce, soemthing! The home made chips were delish. I think I may have just chosen the wrong thing off the menu. But come on! If you call yourself "Porkchop" you better nail it with anything pork chop related on your menu...because that's what most people will be curious to try. I will continue to try the place out and report back. It has promise...but does not earn a 4 or 5 star rating from me yet.

I loved this place. We were the first ones there when they opened for lunch. I had great gumbo-- great flavor and hearty. Then I had an amazing bbq pulled chicken salad. Lunch mates had the pulled pork and the grilled chicken, which they both loved. The service was awesome, even as the place filled up with other lunch patrons. Can't wait to go back for dinner.

This restaurant moved into our 'hood several months ago, and we really want the Randolph Street corridor to succeed. Unfortunately, I don't hold much promise for Porkchop. This was a Tuesday rainy night first visit. Scottie introduced himself and waited on us. He wasn't as attentive as we hoped for, especially because there was NO ONE else in the place! Drink menu is weird, but given the culture they're trying to emulate, I get it. They need a bigger, more diverse beer menu. They have a certain irreverent aire about serving cocktails with ice.....instead, the gimmick is to provide an bucket of ice at your table. Tomato and arugula salad was tasteless. Grill pork chop was tasty, as was the large cut potatoes on the plate(a sort of potato salad). Side of green beans were smoky and flavored good, and cooked nicely. Make of this what you will, but I've said this before.....there are too many great restaurants in this city. If you're coming into this market, you better be outstanding! Chances are, we won't be back.

Great food. The wings are awesome. The ribs were good. Grilled corn on the cob was great. The staff must be reading the bad Yelp reviews because they were polite and attentive, everyone we encountered. Fun space, well decorated. Good addition and worth checking out!!!

I was so excited to try this place once I perused the menu. I got the chance last Thursday. The decor is way cool, from the jelly jar chandeliers, to the wall of saws, and the trippy tree wallpaper. The beer list was great, and from what the whiskey aficionados tell me, this place gots the goods. But let's get down to brass tacks, shall we? The food. Oh, the food. We went all jersey shore and got the fried pickles, awesome. I had the bacon and leek risotto for dinner. They topped it with an egg yolk. Genius. I was stuffed long before I finished this dish, but just couldn't stop eating. My date ordered the country fried porkchop on the owners recommendation. It didn't disappoint. First, it was massive. Like the size of your face, massive. Perfectly crunchy coating, juicy in the middle, and topped with country gravy. It was served with horseradish mashed potatoes and green beans. Those potatoes were out of this world. Great service, food, and atmosphere. 5 super sexy stars!

You normally would not expect to find me at a restaurant with the name PorkChop because, well, I don't eat pork. I was surprised when I looked at the menu, they actually have a lot more than just pork. I came here with some coworkers for lunch, and I had NOT read the yelp reviews before hand. I must say that I'm actually shocked to read all the negative reviews about PorkChop. I did not think it was spectacularly bad, at all.... Perhaps they're out to change a couple of things and improve their reputation in the 2012. The food was actually very very decent. I had the southern fried chicken and skewers. From my coworkers, I think they really loved the elotes and the burgers. I would have liked to have some real mashed potatoes with my fried chicken, please. I thought it was strange, to serve fried chicken with a warm salad of red potatoes and cream sauce(?!) Give me straight up mashed potatoes and gravy! The sauteed green beans were a little burnt. Now that I have read the reviews about the saltiness, I did notice that my plate was a little oversalted. Not by much that it was inedible, but it is probably worthwhile to look into it if your customers are reporting consistently. Overall, we had an absolute good time, the place wasn't crowded at lunch, and I would give it another go. (because we also received a stack of 20% off coupons that was supposedly valid for lunch). We'll see. Side note: this restaurant claims to be unpretentious, and it doesn't look pretentious to me. the menu looks good, the ambiance and decor is interesting but not over the top. it definitely has a lot of potential. keep it up! and maybe it just takes time to get a hang of these things, you know?

We came here for a bite with friends before a show at the Chicago theater. Not only was the waiter efficient, friendly and knowledgeable, he was also considerate that we were on a bit of a time crunch because of our show at 8. The service was fast but not "rushed". The BLT sammy was very good, as were the shrimp and sausage skewers. I'm not a wing fan, but my friends and hubby said they were delicious. The chopped salad was also a winner. The hubby gave his porckchop a "B'. To cap it off we shared a red velvet cupcake and a chocolate buttercream-ish cupcake from Skinny Piggy. We would definitely come back here. I liked its clever decor, good music selection ( Pheonix and MGMT) and unfussy but very good food and beverages.

I always like to try the house drinks. I was with a big group and no on liked their house or basic drinks. We ordered the mac and cheese and it was bland. The fried pickles were OK, but not great. We then deiced to walk down to another one of the many great West Loop restaurants and were happier for leaving. There was also no valet parking.

Horrible dining experience, even worse customer service following. This is the email I sent about my experience. I got a response a week later ONLY after I tweeted about the experience. I responded to the email and have yet to hear anything back, another 2 weeks later. I will not return and will never recommend this place again. I am writing to share a very unfortunate experience I had yesterday (Sunday, March 3, 2013) at Porkchop Chicago. I have been to Porkchop a number of times and had wonderful experiences. That is why I decided this would be a great place to bring a group of friends for Sunday brunch. It was the first, and last time, that group is interested in visiting your restaurant. There were a number of issues with this visit. The waitress had a very limited knowledge of both the food and beer menu. She offered no recommendations when requested about what menu items to try, and could answer no questions about the beer list. After about a 45 minute wait for the food, EACH plate was luke warm at best, and even cold. One of the guests sent his plate back because of the temperature. It was obviously heated in a microwave and resulted in the food being completely dried out. Being that the restaurant is named "Porkchop" that is exactly what one of the members of the party wanted to try. It was served over a bed of sautéed vegetables instead of with potatoes and applesauce as the menu says. It was taken back and the waiter let us know that it was "the kitchen's fault". When returned with potatoes and applesauce, the grilled porkchop was so overcooked and dry that she could not cut into it - this was demonstrated to our waiter and sent back. The second porkchop that she received was RAW! She cut into it and much to our shock and disgust the meat was cold and uncooked. She sent this back and ordered a pulled pork sandwich. The waitress did nothing to compensate for this experience. Additionally, we had two FULL drinks (a bloody mary and a mimosa) overturn due to large holes and slants in the table. Again, nothing was done to compensate for this. The drinks were replaced and charged as an additional drink. Overall, brunch was a disaster. As a returning customer, I was disappointed in this experience. The quality of the service and the food was poor. As the person who recommended Porkchop to diners who have never been, I was embarrassed. Each new customer does not plan to return, and I do not blame them. I wanted to share this experience and hope that it is addressed so that other diners that visit your establishment do not have the same experience that we did.

As good as advertised. The grilled pork chop was great, the duck sausage lollipop was a true standout and the whiskey menu is loaded. That's really all I ask for in a casual meal with friends... and yes, by that I mean sausage on a stick and the ability to get tanked on fine bourbon. Drop by for dinner high on taste and low on pretension.

I know this place is called Porkchop but after a conversation with the waiter we both ordered the fried chicken...damn they need to change the name of this place to Friedchicken! I compare all fried chicken to my grandmother's and if she was still alive I'd tell her she needs to kick her chicken game up a notch or so. I'll be back but I'll have to force myself to forgo the chicken and try a pork chop next time.

I visited with a group of 10 and found the restaurant to be friendly and accommodating. Significant beer and whiskey options were a big hit with the group. Service was good, possibly a little slow at times on drinks. Will return.

We eat out 50% of our week. We were hopeful that Porkchop would be a welcome addition to our neighborhood. Sadly, it's not. Upon entering, you're greeted with music blaring at a level that even the waiter couldn't hear our order (even after two attempts). Waiters and servers seemed to not know what's going on. Our salad came way before our first round of beer. I ordered the porkchop (obviously) and my partner ordered the cheeseburger-mac & cheese thing. It's sad to say that his mac & cheese was better than the porkchop. Especially sad since the place is called PORKCHOP. The cut was decent and kinda thick. However, it was overcooked and way too salty for me to finish. I would hesitate to come back purely based upon the porkchop's quality (never mind the service hiccups and loud music Stickin' with our usual neighborhood places until the next restaurant comes around to try.

Just went there last night for the first time to eat. We had a rather large party, but were seated at a table that was spacious and had the cool "saw wall" behind it. Yes, it's a wall made from all different types of saws. Too cool. I was eating light and had the grilled cheese, while my friend had the legendary porkchop with mash, which he called "mind-blowing". Everyone loved their dishes... I don't think a single plate had any food left on it.... and I devoured mine! The staff was on top of things, our waiter Scottie suggested the perfect drinks for each of us... and honestly improved our mood dramatically from the moment we walked in. The manager Chris stopped by our table at the end of our meal, thanked us for coming in and offered us a complimentary honey whiskey digestif. Amazingly smooth & balanced. Porkchop is only a block from Grant Achatz's The Aviary, so wanted to go over to try that out as well. As we were leaving, we mentioned this to the owner Dion Antic. As one of our friends was not wearing a blazer, Dion said if there was any trouble at the door to come back and he would provide one for us. Seriously, how kind! Now I wish I stayed and had one more round for drinks. I saw on Twitter that John Cusack & Stephanie Izard dropped by shortly after we left. I think we are all on to something great.

First time visiting this restaurant for my girlfriend and I, and we were not disappointed. This area on Randolph has so much to offer and hopefully this place sticks around for a while. We had a coupon for a free app, but will most likely return and bring friends. Went on a Saturday evening around 5pm and we were the only diners there. We loved the ambiance with the various mounted game animals and the antique saws. The place also has a decently sized dining area. Unfortunately, beer tap was "frozen up", but the specialty drink and bottled beer selections were good. Started the meal off with sausage lollipops, which were good, but as other yelpers have noted, the sauce made the dish. Girlfriend ordered Southern Fried Chicken and I had the Grilled Cheese with coleslaw for entrees. The fried chicken was excellent. There wasn't too much fried batter and the chicken was very juicy. The redskin potatoes were also seasoned very well. The Grilled Cheese was also good, although I was expecting a little thicker cut of bacon, but the sandwich was tasty nonetheless. I ALWAYS order coleslaw when available and this was a refreshing take on the classic side. Not sure what ingredients were used in preparing the dish, but mayonnaise was thankfully absent. It had a little spicy kick to it, but was in no way overpowering. For dessert, we ordered the Red Cream Float, which was the perfect way to end the meal. The waitress was extremely attentive and kind. Can't speak for the service when they are busy though, since by the end of the meal there were maybe at most 3 other tables. We were very happy overall with our experience there and will definitely return (coupon or not).

Dark and Stormy - not dark in color, but certainly a strong and tasty whisky drink. Porkchop - juicy and well prepared. Fried chicken - juicy and little too much breading but overall great taste. Chicken wings - absolutely AMAZING and that in itself, would bring us back to Porkchop. All you need to know: come back for 25 cent chicken wings on Tuesday nights after 10pm.

Part of a group of 6 Saturday during their 2nd year anniversary celebration. Great live band at 8PM however, the music was so loud we could not have any table conversation. Good - BBQ ribs, huge portions, sauce had a nice kick Bad - SERVICE! Had to ask separately for 1) water, 2) napkins, 3) drink refills, 4) utensils! She was AWFUL. Hushpuppies were cold and hard. 312 was on special for $2 but then showed up in approx an 8oz paper cup. Plenty of other good BBQ spots popping up so I won't be back.

My husband and I had dinner at Pork Chop last night. Were big fans of ribs, prefer dry rub ribs, but had to try their barbecue ribs. The reviews were right, that was the biggest rack I've ever seen. So tender that the meat just fell off the bone. The sauce had great flavor. We also ordered a side of pulled pork, which was served plain, we both had a bite and felt that it was much too bland. Luckily there was a side of sauce with our ribs, so we poured that over the pulled pork. What a difference! It went from a 2 to a 10. They need to serve it with BBQ sauce. We also had the pumpkin beer, very tasty! The bartender was our waitress, super nice and very attentive. We'll be back.

This place was really not good. It seems like a new restaurant that just opened and hasn't worked out the kinks, but it isn't new, so there is no excuse. Service was slow and really awkward. The server was nice...but not good at serving. I'll take a curt waiter/waitress who is efficient and accurate over a nice but poor server any day. At the start of the meal, we had to ask for new glassware because a cup smelled like bleach- this type of stuff always makes me wonder about the cleanliness/sanitation in the kitchen. The women's bathroom smelled unclean as well. The food- elotes were cold and just ok. You can get the real thing for $1.50-2 anywhere else in the city and it tastes much better and takes about 1/10th the time to prepare. A salad came without all the ingredients listed on the menu, and without any dressing, which we had to ask for. You shouldn't have to ask for your food to be prepared as it is listed on the menu. It seemed like a salad I could make at home, with bagged spring mix and a cucumber. Wings came without carrots/celery, which I think is pretty standard- I asked the waitress if I could have some and she said she could definitely accommodate my request. Then she never brought them. The service was so slow that I decided not to ask again because the meal was already taking too long. A couple of my wings also had that weird chicken hair that sometimes pokes out of the skin- pretty unappetizing. The pulled pork sandwich tasted ok, but the napkins they give you can't do anything to compete with the mess it created. It would be nice if they provided wet-naps. Homemade potato chips seemed unsalted and were bland. The menu is confusing- they list lunch/dinner menus on two separate sides of the menu, with the main difference being that dinner portions are larger. It might benefit them to tighten up the menu and make sure that they are executing all dishes correctly and with higher quality ingredients. Sorry, I would not return. Seems like the type of place you go to once and then decide not to come back to.

Whiskey: served neat with an ice bucket on the table (in case you are a sissy) Apps: Had the fried pickles (wish there were more-- got 6 slices), and the elotes. Both of those were solid and delicious offerings, mostly because of the condiments they were served with. Mains: comfort food style offerings... though for some reason the menu seemed like it had a bunch of stuff on it I didn't want to order (the fried chicken and the pork chop made the cut)-- and they were both very good as well. This restaurant would have been truly inventive about 5 years back. It's a bit "been there, done that".

Will simply never come back here after our experience tonight. One group member served raw fried chicken and when sent back for pork chop replacement THAT came back undercooked. Unbelievable experience! Manager Giovanni could not have been more rude and aggressively blaming our group member for not ordering a third item. Never coming back here. Cannot believe this guy has a job after telling us "what is the bottom line of this conversation?" when confronted about the undercooked food.

First let me talk about the bar, it's a whiskey bar...no chi chi martini's or dainty lady drinks, this is two fisted whiskey drinking and a fine selection of bourbons are at your disposal. There are some imaginative bourbon concoctions that are tasty and a nice preamble to starters and dinner. Service here is to be commended, friendly and efficient everyone seems to like working here...no surly attitudes and a nice smile from everyone. Some of the best smoked pork I've had! My friends tell me the fried chicken is "to die for" but on two recent visits I was so enthralled with the ribs I never had a chance to try it. House smoked ribs are a must! The pulled pork and pulled chicken sliders are generous! Three come as an appetizer so if you intend to eat an entree plan on sharing them otherwise you will be full. The chicken wings are huge and have a nice crunch to the skin. I am also a big fan of the sausage trio on a skewer with grilled shrimp, well prepared, grilled to perfection and the addition of a grape tomato gave it that added bite of acid it needed. The elotes (corn on the cob with chipotle and cotija cheese) is a must try item. We tried a lot of sides and my favorite is the sauteed spinach! I know who woulda thought, but is is absolutely divine! The mac n cheese is creamy and a generous portion of that came to the table, the green beans were fresh and lightly sauteed leaving a nice crunch to them. The BBQ ribs are some of the best I've ever had, the meat is superior for starters and well smoked....tender, juicy and flavorful, washed down with a cold beer it is BBQ heaven! They would get 5 stars if I'd fallen in love with the desserts but they need work, but who wants dessert when the appetizers and entrees are so so good? All things in time, they have only been open a year and are still getting the wrinkles ironed out. Do yourself a favor and try them out and don't listen to crabby yelpers who are hating on them...the prices are good, portions are generous and they aim to please! I will be back again and again.

The food was very poor. The waitress was very friendly and gave great customer service! But I can't believe the food that was served. Everything left a bad taste in my mouth. And I tried a lot of different dishes. I probably won't visit again.

Ok so I didn't actually eat in the restaurant but I tried their wings and ribs during the Taste of Randolph and they were great! I have definitely considered going to the actual restaurant but I've walked passed it numerous times and there are all sorts of saws and knives hanging on the walls which totally creeps me out. Maybe I'll order take out?

Porkchop is one of my fave new places in the W. Loop. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun. The food is delish. Everything I've had I've enjoyed - food and drinks. It would be easier for me to go through the menu to cross-off what I haven't had rather than list everything that I've had. Let's just say it's all good stuff!!!! I have to admit I would like their pickle chips to be crunchier. What makes Porkchop even better is that you can totally pig out because their prices are so budget friendly. The staff is so nice and fun. I always have a good time when I go. All in all, I give this place 3 out 3 big fatty delicious pork bellies! Porktastic! Go for the food, the atmosphere and the wall of saws.

I thought Porkchop was good, not the best bbq food i've had but it can definitely hold its own. I had the chicken and my fiance had the ribs - ribs were definitely the way to go. We went using gdine.com so had a choice of apps and entrees. we got the sliders and fish tacos for apps - both were good. Overall, worth the gdine experience.

I was very excited to try Pork Chop and would definitely good back. Having said that, it was not the be all end all of BBQ. It was good-not great. Portions were generous-taste was there, but if you've sought out BBQ in the city-I would guess you have had better. I used a gDine promotion which made it a great deal with plenty of options. We could choose an appetizer and entree or an entree and dessert which left something for everyone to try. That was a high point. Service was OK. Nice enough, but forgetful and slow throughout the night. We were one of 3 tables when we arrived, so it was pretty dead. Still, entrees were forgotten, drinks and clean silverware. Overall I would say, I liked the concept, but the vibe and service needed some work. It just felt like the employees were lukewarm about the place-which resonated with the patron.

A good test of a barbecue joint is the ribs. They're not that easy to do well. Try them at home and see for yourself. Porkchop has excellent ribs. You can tell the pitmaster knows his/her stuff. Fries, slaw, all sides were excellent as well. Service is friendly, attentive and fast. So, WHY ARE THERE SO MANY PORKCHOP HATERS ON YELP?? My guess--confirmed by others--is they are shilling for other restaurants and faking crappy reviews. The West Loop--and West Randolph/Restaurant Row--is a highly competitive restaurant environment. Lots of $$$ in investments and chef's careers are at stake, so it's not surprising that some people will stoop to anything to make their restaurants look better by sandbagging others. It's a shame, but it's the nasty little secret about Yelp (which may very well dump this review because I'm stating the truth).

I really like this place. The atmosphere is pretty good and the food was great. We split a full slab of the chipolte ribs and it was fall off the bone awesome. The menu prices are really reasonable especially for a restaurant located on Randolph Street and has none of the pretense its neighbors have. Also no lineup or waiting.

My girlfriend and I went here late one Sunday evening and we were pleasantly surprised! It was our first time there, and we had an experienced server who helped us through the menu, and made some amazing suggestions (Steve) We started with the Parmesan Corn and it was a great appetizer, I had the Southern Fried Chicken that came with a gravy over the top! GREAT! The side was some mashed potatoes that had a little bit of horseradish in them, and those really hit the spot. My girlfriend had the namesake and it was really tender and flavorful. It was paired with this apple sauce that had nutmeg in it! Overall, a GREAT experience and I'm looking forward to walking back and trying the ROOT BEER FLOAT!

I went to Porchop's New Year's Eve Speakeasy party, and I had a GREAT time!! There were 9 of us, all decked out in flapper dresses, suspenders, and fedoras. The host, (Giovandis??) was very helpful, and extremely sweet. They had a live band who was playing some very old songs, which fit the mood. Appetizers were being circulated by staff, and no one had any complaints. The bartenders were fast without losing the friendly. We will DEFINITELY be returning for dinner and drinks! ( as I am a vegetarian, I was skeptical about them having anything for me to eat beyond a salad, but happily, I was wrong!!) So glad I found this place!!

Its so funny because this place has been so many places before it became Porkchop. I was hoping to be wowed but yet I felt Porkchop had a lot of fat and not a whole lotta meat. When we were seated we noticed a stench. Not sure what it was or where it was coming from. i guess from being there for a while we just started to ignore it. Moving on we ordered the Elotes and the Mac with Bacon....Elotes. I have had better from a street vendor and the Mac with Bacon was Delish. Very flavorful! Sidebar...we noticed that the place yet we felt rushed and even overheard a staff asking the girls next to us if they were finished like they wanted to turn the table over. Our entree came I ordered the Brisket and Green Beans. It was ok. My friends Catfish came not throughly cooked which Chef Mike immediately corrected and offered us some cornbread which was Ultra Yummy. While we were in the midst of talking a guy who was bussing tables came to the table and asked would we like our dishes taken. My friend had like two bites of her food left. He literally stood and waited for her to finish before he walked over with the dishes. He then came back and reached over her while she was eating the last of the cornbread and filled the glass they have all the utensils in like he was telling us to get out. We heard him loud and clear we paid the tab and left. I definitely think the place has potential but the staff needs to be upgraded. ..

Had the ribs at the Taste of Randolph and fell in love! Have been searching for a good rib joint since the closing of Biasetti's. And I think I've found it. They were delicious! I had to get their business card and coincidentally it was a 20% off coupon. AWESOME! Towards the end of the night, we went back for more and they were out of the ribs. The nice guy gave us complimentary wings as they broke down their booth. We are SO looking forward to dining in the restaurant and can't wait!

Come for the whiskies, stay for the fried pickles and the catfish. Sausage lollipops are alright but the real winner is the sauce. That stuff should come with everything on the menu. Sliders are pretty underwhelming and the elotes are misleading. The porkchop is good and tender but rare enough to frighten. BLT was greasy. Potatoes were great.

I went here for lunch. The saving grace was the tortilla soup, which was very good. I would give the soup four stars. As for the BBQ, it was sub-par. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and beef brisket. The pork was too "barnyard" for me. There was a little "piggy" taste to it that was off-putting. Moreover, the BBQ sauce has a black cherry flavor that was too medicinal. The beef brisket was a better, but dry and too chewy - not very memorable. However, I should mention the service too. It was very good. The waitress was friendly and very attentive. She gave us a twenty-percent off coupon for our next visit. Unfortunately, I don't think that I'll be using it.

We found this place unexpectedly (my 9 year old wanted grilled cheese and we were on Randolph strip). It was absolutely delicious. Best grilled cheese ( and bacon and fried egg) sandwich with tomato bisque soup. Yum. Dessert was even better - chocolate chip bacon cookie with maple syrup whipped cream) - sounds weird, tastes good. Loses a star because of interior (we had to sit outside due to frat like stale beer smell). For a bar, food was amazing (can't remember what hubby ordered but it was mm mm good too), service was great and friendly all around. Definitely recommend! Would love to go back at night and sample some of the cocktails

Disclaimer: I'm a vegetarian. My boyfriend, however, loved this place. I wasn't hungry, which is good, because there was literally nothing on the menu for a vegetarian. If you add a veggie option we'll come back. Do not take a date to this place unless you have been together for quite a while. Not a place where charming eating habits surface. I give it two stars for the ambiance and the ability to drink champagne. But the boyfriend gives it 4.

I was dissapointed in the food and the service. They need more waitstaff. Also having some busboys would help. Our waiter was also the bartender. I would not recommend parties greater than 4. We had a much larger party, and the service was slow. Not only were some people finished with their meals before others were served, but they even forgot some orders and drinks. They have a long way to go.

Tasty elotes and a perfectly cooked porkchop complete with an espresso cup of tasty applesauce with a good bit of spice. The potatoes accompanying the chop were also quite tasty; I could have eaten a ton of them. The server, Scott, was super friendly. Another great neighborhood restaurant to visit when Greek eats get tiresome.

I've had Porkchop bookmarked for quite some time now and last night found myself in the WL hungry after a event. My friend and I wanted some bar stools and Porkchop seemed like a great place to try. Over all everything about the experience was just meh. The beer list was lengthy but failed to impress. The food was even further from impressive. When we got there I was initially surprised by the low yelp rating, after experiencing Porkchop I know why it is what it is. Let's start with the food, we ordered Pork sliders, Shrimp and sausage skewers and elotes. Siders: average at best with a BBQ sauce that tasted very similar to Sweet Baby Ray's. Now don't get me wrong, I love some Sweet Baby Ray's sauce but I can also use it at home. The pork was a little dried out in spots and one of the sliders appeared to have some char marks the top. 2 stars Shrimp & Sausage skewers: According to the menu 'with tomato, onion and a smoky paprika glaze' I guess I mistakingly interpreted a 'skewer' to mean it would be grilled and Porkchop interpreted 'smoky glaze' to mean blackened. The addition of a cherry tomato and a sliver of onion let me wanting more. Overall if the skewer had been thrown on the grill and the flavors allowed to come out more and if the paprika glaze had been apparent at all they would have been much better. 1 star Elotes: Having grown up in Ohio, I have high expectations for corn. Pair that with the fact that it is almost October and we should be in prime corn eating season. Not sure where the ears came from for this dish but they weren't good. Also the preparation lead to shriveled up blackened kernels. (I'm sensing a trend here - let's just blacken everything) The aioli/ cheese barely covered a quarter of each cob. 0 stars, seriously these are not worth ordering. The beer I got was decent and the bartender let me try it ahead of time so points for that. My friend's beer wasn't her cup of tea, it was supposed to be an amber lager but had more of an IPA taste to it. Both beers were extremely flat. The service was alright, there weren't many people there and we were seated at the bar so we were adequately attended to. Our food came out in a timely manner. Just meh all around, Porkchop left me with a bad, blackened taste in my mouth.

I had great hopes for a fun and delish dinner, but I have to say I was left wanting. Not wanting more, just wanting. Service was poor. Very inattentive waitress and bar tender. They seemed too busy chatting and eating snacks to pay any attention to the few diners in the restaurant. I had the brisket and if the cooks would first remove the layers of fat from it before slicing and serving, it would've been delicious. The flavor was good, but more fat than meat. Eww. And the sweet potato fries were not quite done. And lastly, my water glass was dirty with someone else's lipstick. I would've asked for another clean glass, but the waitress never came back. I do hope they pull themselves together and get a good waitstaff and take care of details concerning the food. The idea of the place and the menu are lovely and I LOVES me some BBQ in any form, but this was not so great an experience. One last thing, please just put a bar of soap or a soap dispenser by the sink in the ladies' restroom instead of only at the big farmsink in the hallway outside the bathrooms. It made me feel like people aren't really washing their hands before serving me. That seemed like another obvious thing that was overlooked. Please take a look at some details and I would love to try it again.

The place is small and very nicely done with the bar at the entrance. Weren't many people on a Friday night and hope it makes it cause the food is great. Started with the fried breaded pickles - really tasty and then we shared a pork chop and fried chicken. Some of the best chicken I have ever had even ate the skin and the pork chop was delicious and juicy. Will defiantly go back again.

My coworkers and I passed this place one day and were excited by the menu. We talked about it for like 2 full weeks before coming. It just looked like it would hit the BBQ spot! Being a group of foodies, we were worried about the Yelp rating but the menu was just so enticing we thought people must have been critical. Service: Horrible. There was a 3 minute span (not an eternity, but 3 full minutes) that our waitress was staring at a wall. Our drinks were empty, someone else had just brought our food and she was too non-busy to even turn around from the WALL! On top of that, we said we were ready to order, she took our apps order and (having already sensed she was a bit slow) said we could do the entrees too. She said she'd come back for those...and she did maybe 15-20 minutes later starting with "Are you guys ready to order your entrees?" She should not have been a waitress. Other notables: No workers seemed to be happy to be there They didn't clear empty plates We actually won out because our waitress was so clueless a 20% off on one entree coupon turned into 20% off the whole meal bc she didn't know what she was doing. Food: Sad. Really sad. Being all in the food industry, we know how food is cooked, why it's bad, etc. I've never been somewhere where across the board for 7 people every person needed to salt every thing that has come to the table. Everything had been cooked in advance, most of it was frozen. Portions were pathetic. $5 for fried pickles. Not having counted, I'd say we got no more than 7 tiny slices per serving...and they were disgusting. Elotes were ice cold. Not room temp cold, refrigerator cold. I actually loved my ribs but then I remembered for some foods I like them cooked to death. My coworkers tried them and said they were chewy and overcooked. All in all, disappointing. Absolutely no passion in the food. From drinks that were mostly ice, to a staff so poorly trained even bus boys didn't seem to know how to do their job, to food that we spent the meal picking apart rather than enjoying I say stay away.

Absolutely atrocious. I ordered the fried chicken and it came out raw. Then I ordered the pork chop and it came out raw. The waitress was apologetic, but the manager, Giovani, refused any semblance of customer service and blamed me for not requesting the pork chop to be properly cooked. I found the management to be rude, condescending, and not customer focused. I left this restaurant without eating, but full of animosity for how management dealt with their own ineptness. My only hope is that I don't wake up tomorrow with food poisoning. I would rather recommend the McDonalds down the street than this place that can not serve properly cooked and safe food.

Two friends & I dined here last night. We had a 5:30 reservation & the place was empty when we arrived. Like really empty. As in no staff. Finally after a bit, a friendly server came out to greet us. We were seated at a table near the curtain of saws (cool decor). I'm always freezing but it was almost uncomfortably warm when we walked in (the air was still but it was very stuffy). I ordered one of their cocktails made with Deaths Door Whisky, cinnamon syrup, & cherry vanilla bitters. It was my first time having a white whisky so I don't know if that made the drink taste watered down but something was off. I drank it but it was not very good. We started off with fried pickles & the sausage lollipops. The fried pickles had a very grainy batter on them that slid off as soon as you touched one. The quantity & quality was no impressive. The sausage lollipops were fried in a corn batter-ish batter (kinda like mini corn dogs on sticks) but again I was not impressed. The staff was also very anxious to get rid of plates from the table. There were still 2 pickles left & the busser asked if we were finished. We said no & then he said "well I'll get these out of your way" & took our appetizer plates. Hmm oooookay.... I ordered the pulled pork tacos & sweet potato fries. The tacos had no sauce on them but came with a salsa verde of sorts. I had to salt everything b/c it lacked flavor. The pork tacos had a taste that I can only describe as "swampy". I kinda felt like they were smoked in a dirty bucket in the alley. The sweet potato fries were the worst I've ever had. They had a rubbery texture to them & not a lot of flavor. I asked for a side of bbq sauce to dip them in & that had no unique flavor to it. I ate b/c I was hungry & told my friends I would indulge (I don't eat gluten or dairy) so I didn't want to sound like a negative nellie. If I'm going to stray from my normal way of eating & indulge, it better be worth it & this meal most certainly was not. Our bill for 3 drinks, 2 apps, 2 sides, & 3 entrees was around $85 but I could have had a better quality & cheaper meal at Smoque, Russels, or just about any other bbq joint. The service was fine but everything else was less than medicore. Don't waste your money & calories on the bland food here.

The baby back ribs were had more meat than I have ever seen. My wife said the brisket was ok. We all enjoyed the drinks, the bar is very good. We will return but we will not order the fried pickles until they change them. We like the unique beer from Montana and the whiskey!

We've been here several times and always had good service, drinks and the BEST ribs. Seriously this is where we take out of towners for ribs. It's a whiskey joint so they do a great Old Fashioned or Manhattan. Good beer selection. I love this place and I'd like to see it hopping!

This is my 3rd time eating @ Porkchop as it is very close to my home. I wanted to have one last fun lunch with my sister before she left for home out of state. I though Porkchop would be perfect as their decor is interesting and the food is quite good. Unfortunately this will be my last visit as I was not only embarrassed, but insulted by someone claiming to be a manager. When I was presented with the bill, I pulled out a coupon purchased online. The coupon was purchased on 12.22.11, included a validation code, and explicit terms and conditions. The manager refused to honor the coupon stating that first this coupon did not apply to the lunch menu, then tried a different excuse claiming they discontinued that promotion. After reviewing the coupon in detail with the "manager", unfortunately for him there were no limitations applicable to the meal and indeed this was a valid coupon that had to be honored. This is an issue he needs to address with the contracted coupon site, not a paying customer. Explicit language spouted from his mouth as he became more hostile, leaving me to believe he was not an actual manager, rather someone the owner posted to look after the place. Due to his reluctance to honor a valid coupon, and ultimately insulting me in front of my family & the restaurant as the place is quite small, I would not recommend this place to anyone as there are way too many choices in the west loop/restaurant row to patronize them. The food is not worth the disrespect I received nor deserved. Where I wish no business to fail as I know there is usually a hard working owner who invested his/her life savings in creating their dream of owning a business, I do hope that they move out of my neighborhood. This is a kind and friendly neighborhood filled with great restaurants & stores. Porkchop - you simply do not belong here. Relocate to the Gold Coast or an area more conducive to tourists where you can get away with having rude & incompetent staff or managers. Note to owner - Due to the manager's handling of the situation you not only lost my business, but the business of my friends and family, and anyone else I can tell.

I stumbled upon this place when I was with a friend and her dog. The wait staff, even before we thought about eating there, was very friendly. The menu selections are fairly limited, but I really enjoyed my food (caesar salad and grilled pork chop). The pork chop was served at the appropriate temp (medium), and the courses came out at a good pace for a weekday meal. I withhold one star because it wasn't a masterful dining experience. I had a good time with good food and would recommend this place, but don't expect it to blow your mind. (Also, I didn't actually step foot in the restaurant, since we ate on the patio...)

My boyfriend and I went for dinner last night to use a Youswoop deal before it expired. Overall the experience was just okay. There waitress was nice and mostly attentive. We ordered the fried ribs for an appetizer, and the brisket, and fried chicken for entrees. The fried ribs were pretty good. The brisket was awful. It was bland and tough. Both the ribs and the brisket had the faint taste of lighter fluid or some sort of chemical. The fried chicken was bad too. It tasted like there was absolutely no seasoning of any sort on the chicken. It was breaded nicely, but the breading had no flavor. I doubt I'd go back to this place.

To somewhat quote one of my favorite movies, "I dig on swine, that's all." I do love pork so I thought that this place would be right up my alley. I thought correctly. I figured that I would be safe ordering a pork chop! I mean they named the place after this cut of meat right? How could I go wrong? I didn't go wrong! The meat was grilled perfectly and had a nice mild flavor and was perfectly tender and juicy. It came with applesauce and mashed red potatoes. We also ordered a side of green beans. The potatoes had a slight mustard taste and the beans were crisp and had a smokey flavor to them. None of the flavors were very bold but they complemented each other perfectly. We had a slice of vanilla bean cheesecake for dessert. Once again the flavor was mild but still very tasty. Our server was great. She was very helpful, and friendly and did a great job. the place is very stylishly decorated however the lighting was too minimal for my liking. I had a difficult time reading he menu and I was not able to closely observe the presentation on the plate. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal here. It left me completely satisfied and it not leave that big of a hole in my wallet! They did a GREAT job!

We order from here for takeout on Grubhub all the time- and decided to check it out as a dine-in location last week. We were not disappointed! They have several bbq sauces to try from and their macaroni and cheese with pulled pork is the best out there. We had a great time!

Rustic, laid back place. We bought a deal for $15 get $30. The star of the show is the fried chicken. Do not be fooled by the name. We tried the chipotle corn on the cob appetizer - amazing!!! Drinks were generous. I hope this little place makes it because the food is delicious. Everything on the menu looked pretty good. We have another certificate so we will be back again soon.

I've been there twice now and though I would love to try their fried chicken, I just don't think my scale will be able to handle all the fried food. I had their chicken sliders the first time and it was great. And then I had the veggie burger which was also good. So far so good!

I just ate off the Pork Chop food truck in the Loop and it was delicious! The pecan-smoked wings were big, meaty and full of flavor, and the pulled pork sandwich was fantastic. Tender meat, yummy sauce, great bun. If I find the truck again, I plan to try the pulled chicken. Overall YUM!

I made the mistake of ordering a cheeseburger at a restaurant on Randolph Street that was not named Au Cheval or Grange Hall. It was a last minute decision to get carryout from Porkchop because it's so close to my office. I figured it would be quick and easy to order a burger from here. After waiting for 25 minutes, I finally got my order. The burger was supposed to be topped with blue cheese and grilled onion and cooked medium. It was topped with a few tiny crumbles of blue cheese and hardly any grilled onion and it was cooked well done. The quality of the meat was subpar. It's simply low quality food, prepared poorly, with very stingy toppings.. Porkchop might be a decent place for a couple drinks, as they have a solid beer selection, but the food is just bad. Not good bbq and the worst cheeseburger I've ever had. I was foolish for ordering a cheeseburger at any place other than Au Cheval or Grange Hall on Randolph. I sincerely regret it. Learn from my mistake, fellow Yelpers.

Very disappointed. Wait staff, indifferent, food, fair. Had the fried chicken, it was ok, side of green beans was burnt? . Fried pickles were breaded weird n not brown. Chicken wings were fair. Mac n cheese had no cheese on either order. Glass of malbec was only about 1/8 full. Nice beer list, though so hard to read in the almost dark restaurant. In hindsight, wished we had not left our server over 20%. Worst Valentines day I have ever had.

This review is 2 stars solely because the food is decent overall. I've had the pulled pork sandwich twice and it's delicious. The fried pickles are weird and terrible, breaded only with gritty cornmeal However, I've eaten at the restaurant and ordered delivery and the service here sucks. Eating in our waitress was completely checked out and lax. We were probably the only people there at the time and she didn't check in with us once after we ordered. My delivery order was wrong and I was charged for things I didn't receive. If this joint got its act together it could be very good. However I won't know about it because I won't be wasting my time with Pork Chop again.

Not sure why the reviews are so mixed on this place as my experience was very good. The fried chicken was especially outstanding as was the elotes app (grilled corn on the cob with tasty toppings). We went for Valentine's day and the ambiance was spot on for date night. Beer list and whiskey cocktails were good too. The only reason I withheld my 5th star is because our server failed to mention the special menu for the night which was a little irritating. However, we most likely would have ordered the same way regardless. All in all, great comfort food and beer spot for a date or meeting up with friends. We'll be back.

Stopped here on a Friday night...how can you not stop into a place that advertises Whisky and BBQ? The beau and I sat at the bar and ordered two drinks and the Fried Ribs. The atmosphere was cozy, and the bar staff seemed nice. The place was pretty empty I thought for a Friday. Our drinks were strongish and the ribs tasted boiled. Not a negative experience overall, so I'd like to give this place another try...To be continued.

Where do I begin? First off our super pushy waitress who barely knew the beer menu brought us some what room temp beers. So disappointing. Then we ordered a large variety of appetizers. The hushpuppies tastes like balls of sand. They were so dry and flavorless. The fried pickles just tasted like warm pickles. Nothing special. The fried ribs were good according to my friends - I only took a small bite. During dinner a girl at our table sent her bottle of beer back because it was warm. They made her a drink which she also sent back because it was literally undrinkable - it was that bad. After that she just ordered water to be safe. Anyways, I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich which came with a side of coleslaw and fries. I asked the waitress for the bbq sauce to be on the side. She said "sure" but when they brought it to me of course it was drenched. And the "side" of coleslaw was literally a fork full. One bite, but thank god because that too was flavorless. The fries were undersalted. There was a birthday girl at our table so the waitress brought out banana pudding with icecream which was actually really good. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place. I wouldn't go back again either. And if I did I would just go for the water and banana pudding.

Might have to try this place again. Decent beer selection, Nice decor, and A-ok food. I ordered Chicken and Waffles. Previous reviews praised the chicken. Was just alright to me. Wasn't a fan of the syrup. Heavy on the Cumin. I did have great service though.

The service here was horrendous. We were brought the wrong drinks but didn't ask for the waitress to fix it because we figured it would be another twenty minutes. The portions for food here were pretty small. My mouthful sandwich was literally a mouthful, and wasn't anything special. My husband got the catfish. The food was eh, but honestly the service really put us over the edge. The worst.

Porkchop is great! It's a wonderfully fun place with a great menu. The gdine.com choices were so varied our party of four each tried a different appetizer and entree. We had the beet salad, fish tacos, sliders and pork tacos and had an appetizer feast! Then we had the fried chicken, pork chop, ribs, and chipotle ribs. There was so much food, we each took home a "doggie bag"! The only problem we had was that the desserts are not listed on the menu so when our waitress listed them for us, we were too full! But they too sounded great- two different bread puddings, pies and cobblers. We will definitely return and save room for dessert!

Cold, tasteless and late! Porkchop is the equivalent of a home cooked meal from your friend that doesn't know how to cook. After arriving around 7:30 on a Tuesday night my table of three asked for some appetizer recommendations. The house specialties were so-so to not good at all. The elites (corn with lots of thick mayonnaise) and shrimp and sausage skewers (some old summer sausage and microwaved shrimp on a stick) too 20 minutes to arrive and were underwhelming. After 40 more minutes the kitchen brought out our tray only to abandon our food on the bar another 5. After our waitress finally threw two plates on our table ( half of our order) and wandered off I went ahead and rescued our abandoned food from the bar. Food was cold and had zero flavor. If your restaurant is named porkchop I shouldn't have to grab one of the creepy decorative saws off the ceiling to cut the tough meat. None of us will ever go back.

I went on Wednesday night on my way home from work. I saw they had chicken and waffles on their menu, and I couldn't help but give it a whirl. The food was overpriced, the meal was subpar, and the service was piss-poor. I had better fried chicken at KFC. Compared to Roscoe's Waffle and Chicken in L.A., Porkchop's food is well below par. The chicken was under-seasoned, and tasted bland. The one waffle that the meal came with was undercooked and small. Moreover, they added some weird seasoning to their syrup which gave it a very unpleasant flavor profile. They should have stuck with pure maple. I will never go back.

Nice concept for a porky/BBQ themed restaurant. Service was atrocious! Getting seated - we waited over 5 minutes to be acknowledged by anyone. Servers were flying by tossing menus on the host stand, but no one wanted to make eye contact. The group in front of us had enough time to get a drink at the bar and still wait around for their reservation. Almost walked out when the manager finally came by and seated us. Drinks - Busboy quickly served us water and a bucket of ice which we weren't sure what to do with. When our waiter came by and we asked him about it, he ran off and came back with a spoon for the ice bucket and a bottle of tap water. OKaaay. When my date asked for beer recommendations, the waiter selected a PBR. He went with the flow and I ordered a Lone Star, which they didn't have. Why not, I'll have a PBR too. Waiter came back with one draft in a full pint glass, the other in a mini pilsner. Yes, we were charged full price for both. Food - Ordered the pork belly sliders. 3 of them came and they were tasty and swimming in bbq sauce. We like them. We had the grilled pork chops and fried chicken for our entrees. The chop was a good portion and quite tender. They came with homemade applesauce and smashed potatoes which was basically a warm german potato salad. Fried chicken was really moist and juicy. Green beans that came with were pretty pedestrian. Service - we had to ask for napkins. Wait, isn't this a BBQ joint? the other tables had rolls of paper towels. The waiter came back with a small stack of cocktail napkins from the bar. Food service came out fast. Kicker was when the bill came. We used a $40 groupon thing. They took off $30 off the bill and overcharged us for the beer. When I asked for an itemized bill, the manager gave us attitude and said that all the beers are the same price. Uh, the not according to the menu - are you familiar with it? Worst service I've had in a while and I'm a pretty patient person. Won't be back. Too many good restaurants in this area to waste my time with this place.

I really enjoyed this place. It opened at a bad time for us since we had just had a baby but we finally made it here and it didn't disappoint. I loved the whiskey cocktails....I love me some makers mark. The food was awesome too.....we had the pork belly sliders, ribs, and bbq chicken. Everything we ate was really good....I think I liked the sliders the best..I'd for sure come back here. I love having some good bbq nearby. Can't wait to try the brunch and sit outside on the patio when it gets nicer out

Went there for first time on a Saturday night at 7pm. Wasn't hard to get a reservation, now I know why. Beer list is impressive for a small place, service was great , food was horrible. Fried catfish with a cornmeal batter was tasteless, fried chicken was dry along with the porkchop. Slab of ribs were ok, but many other places with good ribs in the city, they just didn't measure up.

A bad combination of mediocre food and inattentive service. Both the bbq chicken and chicken and waffles were very dry. The only thing that we really liked were the fries. Our server was inattentive and we had to ask for everything but water. It is not pricey but sometimes you get what you pay for.

If the name of a place is Pork Chop, they should have the best pork hands down. All of the pork we ordered was dry and over-cooked. The brisket was great and the sides were great but I feel like if you are going to specialize in an item it should actually be good...

Bad food, bad service. My food was ill prepared and not worth the money. I felt sick after leaving as did my husband which makes me think it was the food. Would never go back. Also after eating at the place I read the reviews about them keeping a pig in a cage...if I didn't already hate the place that would have pushed me over the edge for sure.

This was my first visit, and I will definitely return. Skip the fried green tomatoes- leave lots of room for the fried chicken. Too bad the bar area is so small. Very nice staff, though. And show up hungry!

more like 2.5 stars. started with sliders which were tasty, mac and cheese which was just ok. tomato bisque was great, by far my favorite thing there. porkchop was definitely pink in the middle and undercooked. bbq burger was ok, and pulled pork was good. also tried the cornbread, which was ok. peach cobbler with ice cream was also disappointing. the menu has so much potential - if they just took more time or care to prepare the food, it would make a huge difference. next time i want bbq, i am going back to smokedaddy!

It's unfortunate that these guys named their restaurant "Porkchop" because someone else very deserving of that restaurant name just got baited. This place serves nothing more than glorified bar food however is trying to capitalize on the recent "Pork Bandwaggon" even though truly there are only about 3 different pork options on their limited menu. What a total bait. Their presentation of the food seemed to be where their focus was... word of advise, no one cares if your sh*tty food looks nice on a plate if it still taste like sh*t when you eat it. Not to mention a filthy wait staff to top off your dining experience... gross.

UNBELIEVABLE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! My husband and I wanted to try a new place to eat for my birthday. He called in advance and asked if we needed to make reservations the hostess advised you can, but you don't have to. My husband said so if we just walk in that will be fine and she said yes. It was a Saturday evening Jan 25th. When we arrived she proceeded to tell me that they had no tables and the next available would be 45mins to an hour with an attitude because it's restaurant week (which we didn't know). So, I asked her why didn't you all advise my husband to make an appointment if you knew it was restaurant week and was busy. We called 2 hours before arriving so she would've known. Another hostess appears and confirms the phonecall from my husband but neither ever apologized. Things happen and an apology goes a long way, but the hostess had this I don't give a shit attitude. Totally unacceptable. If they knew it was busy and that it was restaurant week all they had to do was simply say yes, we advise you make a reservation due to the fact that it's restaurant week. Real simple to me. The sad part is I saw a lot of bad reviews here on yelp, but decided to give them a try anyway. I learned my lesson!

My boyfriend and I wandered in here on a Monday afternoon to get out of the cold and eat. It was pretty dead, which doesn't bother me and I was happy to give them my business. I love the concept, the space and mostly the decor. They had a cool rustic concept and the Halloween decorations were perfect. I really liked the wall of hanging saws, it was a cool way to divide up the space. The waitress was sweet and attentive until the end. We were in a time crunch and since she was the only waitress she got a tad distracted by other customers when we were trying to pay. No biggie, we've all been there. The food was great, we had the fried ribs -Yummm! And I had the pulled pork which was delicious. Cool place, hope to see it get more business. They have a great whiskey selection so ill be back for a drink sometime soon.

I wanted this place to be good. Cool atmosphere, southern cooking etc. But really the food just wasn't good. We tried the pork chop and fried chicken. Neither had any taste and both were over cooked. The fried pickles were good and we had some kind of slider that was pretty tasty. Overall, I'd never go there again.

We had a GREAT lunch at Porkchop today! The BBQ burger and fries were awesome! Bloody Mary with bacon garnish was perfect and our bartender/server was very insightful about the menu and pleasant. We are looking forward to bringing more people back to explore the menu more and test out their wide variety of whiskeys!

My boyfriend and I ate here this past weekend. We had both heard of porkchop and were excited to check it out, but we were really disappointed. It's been a long time since we've had a dining experience that was such a bust. We liked the decor a lot: the restaurant is very dark, but funky and fun. The first red flag was that the hostess turned out to be the waitress and the bartender. The second red flag was the bloody mary we ordered that was undrinkable. The third and final red flag were the appetizers we ordered. We ordered the elotes and fried pickles off of the appetizer menu. The fried pickles were breaded in cornmeal which gave them little flavor and the dipping sauce was bland. The elotes were cold, but happened to have grill marks on them: basically they pulled them out of the fridge and quickly out them in the grill for the marks. The elotes were topped with a mayonnaise and parmesan cheese. They were both awful. We passed on the entree and asked for the check. We then headed to Wishbone.

Went to Pork Chop last night for dinner before the game. The service was fine - server was very friendly. The drink menu was very good - variety of beers, cocktails, etc. But the food is definitely not worth it. I had the marinated grilled pork chop (as opposed to the grilled pork chop, which is also a menu choice), thinking that a place named "Pork Chop" would have very good ones. I'm not sure what was in the marinade (water, maybe?), but there was absolutely no flavor other than the char taste from the grill. Not even salted or otherwise seasoned. The chop was also somewhat dry and not very tender. The "marinated" pork chop comes on a bed of sauted red and green peppers with some onions and shaved corn thrown in. Again, pretty bland with no seasoning. The corn seemed like it was completely uncooked, just thrown in at the very last second. I was pretty disappointed. I wouldn't recommend the pork chops at all at Pork Chop at all. My dining mates seemed to enjoy the fried chicken & waffles and the chicken fried pork chop ok, but they weren't totally raving. I would say, I ought to be able to get something off the menu that is not a total artery clogger without totally sacrificing flavor. The Elotes appetizer (grilled corn on the cob, cut into about 1.5 inch sections) were ok, but nothing special. Again, the seasoning - Chipotle Aioli - was on the bland side. I won't be going back anytime soon. They need to learn how to season food.

I Met a friend for some drinks and food. I have to say I enjoyed myself tremendously. I arrived as they opened and felt very welcomed. I was taken care of. When my friend arrived it started getting a little busy. We ate outside(it was still warm). Ordered tapas style. Had a chance to try quite a bit. Everything was delicious. We were very happy with our meal and service. I'm not sure about the complaints from the other yelpers. Sometimes it just takes a new place to get it's groove going. I will definitely go back.

Went to this place with a few friends on a Friday evening. We ordered ribs, brisket, pulled pork and mac n cheese. Everything was delicious! Service was great. We didnt have dessert because we were already stuffed so Ill have to return and see what is on the dessert menu.

Almost didn't come here because of the reviews on yelp. The ribs, chicken, gumbo and mac and cheese were all great. I did not order all of that, but did sample all of them. Service was fine, waiter was very friendly, just slammed with tables. I see yelp reviewers starting to give it higher reviews in 2012, so they must have changed something. We will definitely be back, give this place a chance.

Yay I finally got to try out PorkChop! after months of being teased and tortured by their delicious food descriptions on facebook i finally went on over after class at Flirty on Randolph with mom. It was Sunday brunch time, and I'm still wondering why the place was so empty seeing as they had delicious Bloody mary's for less than 6.00 each! I had the Chicken and Waffles brunch items, came with 4 chicken strips, crispy light and seasoned perfectly, drizzed with Blue cheese dressing, and served with cups of Strawberry butter and syrup on the side. all that was missing was the hot sauce, but i was too busy eating to ask for some. lol Mom had the Southern Fried Chicken plate, she basically got half a chicken, lightly breaded, crispy, and red potatoes, and green beans. For desert we had the baked cheesecake, and left VERY happy with everything. Oh, and since NIN was playing when we were seated, i was DEFINITELY a happy patron. Now to go back during AfterHours for more fun and deliciousness! Our tab for drinks, entrees and dessert was all for under 50.00. Not bad at all. This little piggy will be back!

I think the best part of this place is the owner's love for hair metal. I walked out thinking this place wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. However, I would definitely go back and try something else (I got the fried green tomato blt, which was pretty bland).

Porkchop is a phenomenal restaurant in the West Loop. The fish tacos are amazing. And the sliders are to die for. Try the Chicken and Waffles. Has a downtown, urban and artsy vibe.

Went here on a weekday night with friends. Nice atmosphere- comfortable, just like you'd imagine a BBQ joint to be. Service was friendly and helpful. Amazing selection of beers. the chicken and waffles were outstanding. The appetizers were good too. I'd go back just for the beer, and chicken and waffles.

We went before Peter Gabriel the other night and let me say that the food was GREAT! The service is a bit shaky. The apps were fried pickles( They need to learn how to bread them look up setting up a breading station) They were pickles with a corn chip on either side that came off when you picked them up. Sausage Pops that has a com dog breading and were good. I would tell them to remove the casing from the sausage before they bread it. It was chewy. The wings were very good and moist. I had the Platter that has a sample of Pulled Pork, Ribs, Chicken. My wife had the Fried Chicken our dining partners had Chicken & Waffles and the Rib Eye. The BBQ sauce was thick and smoky with some spice. If you are not a fan of thick sauces get it on the side but get it! The service issues started when the kitchen either didn't get the order or forgot the Rib Eye. I wanted to try the Corn Maque Choux with my platter instead of the corn on the cob. When my order came it was a saute of pepper onion zucchini yellow squash..... No corn... I asked about it and the waitress (who was new) said that is the Maque Choux. I said but there is no corn... The manager came up a few minutes and told me that the kitchen thought that I wanted Corn Maque Choux with out the corn because I ordered it without the corn on the cob....? They made me another order that had corn in it but it only had about 20 kernels in it... No seriously... 20 I counted...They need to see what traditional Maque Choux is. They gave us a free dessert for the trouble. That said the meats were done very well even though it seemed like not the only thing that was SMOKING that night in the kitchen. I would do it again once the staff gets their feet wet, Great Q.

This will be a solid neighborhood place once they get their act together and work out the kinks in the kitchen. First, the good: Appetizers were pretty solid. Nothing that will exceed your imagination but solid. Sliders were excellent. Elotes with chipotle sauce were tasty. Wings were good - spicy and not fried, which was right up my alley. Fried pickles were just ok. I've definitely had better. My bacon-leek risotto was really really good - like a little bite of a complete breakfast every time! Hubby's pork chop was excellent as well. It was tender and juicy and well seasoned. Friend's steak was very good. My only complaint about his dish was that it came with a side of potatoes and nothing else. Now don't get me wrong, I like me some steak and potatoes, but the plating leaves alot to be desired when everything is a shade of brown/beige. Needs some greens, STAT! Service was excellent. Our server, Dana, was friendly and knowledgeable. Two thumbs up. The drinks were very good. This is going to be a great whisky-bar place in the West Loop. We are currently missing one of these. That is, provided they can fix the kinks which are as follows: The bad: the kitchen clearly needs some seasoned help. We ordered two beet salads that came out with no vinaigrette/dressing. Dry dry dry. We asked Dana to bring us some olive oil and she obliged. After that it was quite tasty! But the question is, how did something so basic get overlooked? The main bad experience of the evening came when our friend ordered the fried chicken. When it came it looked beautiful, but when cut open, one piece was overdone, one piece was just right, and one piece was, well, let's just call it undercooked. The kitchen cannot be making mistakes like this - its such a huge liability. (Not to mention that the friend who got the undercooked chicken is 7 months pregnant.) We are definitely willing to give it another shot in, let's say, another month or so, to see whether they've gotten it together. Fingers crossed!

Good: Place has a great vibe. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable. Sausage and Shrimp sticks which were extremely tasty. Drinks were fantastic. Oysters were tasty. Ice and water at the tables was a nice touch and the scotch drinkers at the table appreciated it Ehhh: Grilled Cheese was solid, but nothing memorable. The wings were much better than your BWs/Hooters fare, but again not memorable. C'mon Now: I called and left a message trying to make a reservation and never got a return call. I even left a message on their FB page and no love. Friends ordered the burger and said it was dry and oversalted. They didn't prep for the cheeseburger mac and cheese and wouldn't be serving it that night, which was a huge bummer since we were looking forward to that dish since they released the menu. They also were without 2 of the 3 desserts. It was opening week, but to have those 3 items missing and a 1 fish dish (can't remember which) unavailable was a let down. The server over heard us talking about the donut dessert and brought it out. None of us had ordered it, but we took it anyone since we were planning on ordering it later on in the evening. Just a misstep that the server apologized for, but something to note. I'll try it again in a few months once they've ironed out the kinks.

We have been here a couple of times now and overall I have to say it is pretty average. I am positive it is average. We have tried porkchop, ribs and even just tried the beef brisket. Their pork dishes are "fine". I want them to be so good because the place is pretty cool and they have a nice drink list, but the food just isn't above average. Shame on me for getting brisket at a pork place, but it was really bad. Like, anyone of you reading this can make better at home (for sure). The service is quite excellent, I have to say that. Well ...one of them especially is a young girl with short hair and runs the bar and waitresses all the time (dark glasses). Very good at her job. The hostess is "eh". We stood up front for a few minutes while she sat at the next table talking with friends. So the place is cool but the food is not good enough to go back again.

walked in to a dark, empty place. maybe two other tables taken at most. menu and drink list looked good enough to stay. liked the decor, especially the hanging saws dividing the room in half. place was too dark to read my menu or see my food. ordered the Oktoberfest beer, they were all out. ordered a Stone IPA, also out, so the waiter assumed I would like the Lagunitas IPA instead, without asking me. Problem was, he poured the wrong beer and gave me a Pilsner. So not only did he assume I wanted a substitute beer (or thought I wouldn't know the difference), he didn't even get it right. ordered the Mac & Cheese and Chicken Sliders with Chipotle BBQ Sauce, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, and ranch dressing. both were pretty good but not great. Music selection was great, in my opinion. 90's alternative, STP, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Bush, etc. don't think i'd go back any time soon unless they work out these problems.

We went on 2 dollar taco night, which is VERY hard to beat. The pulled port tacos and blackened fish tacos were great, along with fries and cole slaw. Service was great, options for indoor and outdoor dining are good . .. about the only annoying thing was seeing their brunch menu on the menu and getting all excited about some of the great brunch options, only to find it's Sunday only.

Good bbq, lots of good beer and bourbon, really great staff. Try the fish tacos, the mint julep, the pork+beef burger. Fried items arent very interesting. If it were elsewhere they would be doing great business, but its just past most of the restaurants on randolph, so it doesnt get the foot traffic.

I just moved into the neighborhood and stumbled upon this gem. Let me start off by saying I'm not too big into pork but the grilled pork chop dinner is AMAZING!!!! Traditional apple sauce with a slab of perfectly seasoned red potatoes really makes this meal top notch. Not to mention the price is very reasonable considering the quality food you get. The bartender on Sunday nights is a mastermind of wicked cocktails & the servers are cool as sh*%. Highly recommend!

We went to Porkchop in August 2011 & I enjoyed the risotto enough to continue to try & convince my boyfriend to return even though he did not like his dish at all. Fast forward to April 2012 & we finally return but now I have lost any pull to convince my boyfriend to retry restaurants in the future. The fried chicken & waffle was more like chicken fingers & waffle. Typically a restaurant will serve a bone in breast & a thigh but Porkchop gave 2 scrawny boneless pieces that looked like chicken fingers but tasted worse as they were more than overcooked. The catfish I had was quite tasty but since it was accompanied by overly salted spinach & red beans & rice that was more of a soup (& very smokey) I have to say I would not go again. Even the dessert was a sad showing of peach cobbler. Oh, and I forgot to mention that the mac and cheese with bacon was similar to a box of kraft with a crumbled strip of bacon on top. I expect more for $11. Overall, I would hope that a southern restaurant would take pride in presenting traditional dishes but this was sadly not the case at Porkchop.

I've said it before I rarely dine on swine but this place definitely is an exception. Affordable and generous portions, especially the ribs. Intimate and upscale ambiance. Go on Thursday nights' when they spotlight Doomsayer Sauce Co.'s original line of sauces.

I must admit, this is the first and only review I have written on yelp. I feel compelled to spare others the experience I had this evening. I invited four people to join my wife and I for dinner at the Pork Chop, thinking this would be an awesome place to dine and visit with friends as we live within walking distance to the restaurant. We started with pork sliders, chicken wings, and mac and cheese with chicken for appetizers which were quite good. For my entre, I ordered a ribeye steak, cooked medium, and my wife ordered the grilled pork chop. The others in our party ordered southern fried chicken, an additional grilled pork chop, and one additional ribeye steak. My wife really enjoyed her pork chop, but the satisfaction ended there. My less than a half inch thick ribeye appeared to be cooked correctly,, but upon tasting the first bite, it required both salt and pepper as it lacked flavor. When I made the second cut into the steak, it was blue in the middle which lead me to believe it had been placed on the grill frozen. Regretfully, I had to send the steak back. I received another, extremely thin, steak which again lacked flavor. I took another two bites and could not continue eating it all the while remaining hungry. With all the exceptional restaurant choices in the west loop and Chicago, one would hope that one of the more higher priced items on the menu would deliver on taste. Sadly, this was not the case with the Pork Chop's ribeye steak. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. If one chooses to venture out to this restaurant, I would definitely suggest skipping the ribeye. Not a good cut nor prepared correctly at this establishment.

believe it or not, this is really the only place on randolph to grab a drink in the middle of the afternoon in the middle of the week. good, strong drinks. atmosphere is dark and dingy but it's all the same when all you really want to do is drink and converse with your company. i'm glad summer is here because when i swing in next time, i'll be taking my seat outside.

Service was great. Ribs were okay. I like fall of the bone and these didn't. Also BBQ sauce was not great. The elotes were good and chopped salad too. I had the pulled pork a different time that was good. I would eat there again but not making special plans to soon.

Nice selection of bourbons- my drink of choice. Pours are a little small but $5 for Jack i wont complain. We heard good things about the fried chicken so had to try it out. It did not disappoint. Tender and juicy with a nice gravy. Batter a little too thick but quite good. Nice portion on the chicken, could have used a little more veggie and potato. Overall a pretty good place.

We were going to come here for our first anniversary, and didn't because I'm an idiot. We came here later on with a restaurant.com voucher, went to a basketball game, and went there after the game because it was just that good. I wasn't thrilled with the actual porkchop - it was kind of fatty - but my husband's ribs were mouth-watering and the fried chicken was awesome. The spinach that came with the catfish was perfectly yummy. The slaw could use a little work, but you don't really need the side because the portions are so generous. Great wings! The staff was super friendly, and the new manager was in house, bartending, playing DJ, and even gave us all discount cards to come back. I thought it was a great place, and super reasonable, especially on Randolph street. Planning on going back this Friday, it was that good.

This might be my least favorite restaurant in Chicago, and I feel like I've been to almost every restaurant! I had an awful dining experience about a month ago (the risotto was way undercooked and my waiter refused to awknowledge it, he basically said I didn't know how risotto was supposed to be cooked - it was CRUNCHY) and so I decided to give it a 2nd try, and the food was underwhelming again. The fried chicken comes with a really bland, gross gravy smothered on top of it, just FYI. You might want to get that on the side, or not at all. It's just not good. And with so many amazing restaurants on Randolph Street (Maude's, Girl and the Goat), it's just not worth it. My prediction is this restaurant won't survive.

Fried pickles were awesome. Drinks were unique and fun. My husband had the fried green tomato BLT which was very good. I had the fried chicken. The meat was juicy and tasty and the smashed potatoes were amazing. All in all, a good addition to the neighborhood.

This place has to be one of the best non-kosher excursions I have had in my life. The wings were the best I have ever had and the ribs were great. The service was excellent and they have a great whiskey selection. Very low chance of running into my orthodox relatives here, their loss, this place is 5 stars

Had dinner at Porkchop for the first time tonight - so glad we went! The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. I had the smoked chicken salad, which was fantastic and my husband had the fried pork chop. He ate everything and I had to keep him from licking the gravy off the plate. The fried pickles were quite tasty too. Can't wait to go back for the Tuesday night wing special, which I've been told will be honored all evening - meaning I don't have to wait until 10 pm!

Bad experience. Went with friends to hear blues band (Tiny Miles and the Big Kids). We'd seen them at Porkchop before and enjoyed them. Well, the band was supposed to play, but for some reason, the management did not have them go on. We waited and waited. Saw the band waiting to go on stage, but I overheard the manager say something about wanting to go home early. Here, we came out to hear music and try the food, and we were VERY disappointed. Meanwhile, we ordered food and it was nothing at all special. We most likely will not revisit Porkchop. There are too many other good places in Chicago to eat and hear live blues music.

  • Michele P.

I live in the neighborhood so I've been in there twice now and even ordered out once. The first time I was there, the food was solid. The music was kind of loud and I wasn't much of a fan. However, over the weekend I went back and it had a bit of a different vibe. The music went more with the theme of the place and it wasn't overwhelming. I ordered from their specialties rather than a general menu item and I would say that's the way to go. Their BBQ was pretty great! If you live in the neighborhood, it would be great to support one of our local establishments. And, if you have to travel even a bit, it's worth a drive.

Not a bad spot, food is descent but service is pretty slow. I went there for lunch and it was dead but the waitress still didn't pay much attention to us. If you need to get in and out for lunch, this is not the place for you. The fried chicken was juicy but unfortunately pretty bland. They need a bit more seasoning in the breading but the gravy, beans, and potatoes were great. I think it is worth giving this place a shot. I will probably give it another try for dinner or a happy hour.

Meh....My second time eating at Porkchop, not impressed the first time, and really not impressed the second time. There are a few ok items on the menu, such as the fried chicken (although that still not great, its at least has a tasty crust) and the whisk(e)y list is ok, but the misses coupled with the location and pricing makes this place worth avoiding. First, if your name is Porkchop, your signature dish better be edible, I knew I was in trouble ordering it when the didn't ask me how I wanted it done, but I went along with it in good faith. Needless to say, what I got was salty porkchop jerky. Same goes for a dining companions burger. Secondly, I'd put up with this if I were somewhere far out of the city and paying $8 to $10 for the entree, but not only is Porkchop in the city, its on Randolph, the land of great restaurants, and they're trying to command something of a price premium. I guess you can get a table on a Friday with no reservation for a reason

We have been meaning to try Porkchop for a while and the opportunity finally presented itself this past Friday. Made a reservation using OpenTable - no issue at all. We arrived and were seated (outside) as soon as we arrived. Our waitress was wonderful. She guided us in our selections and she was very helpful. Service was just great. The food was good. I had the baby back ribs and I was looking forward to comparing them against my gold standard. Surprisingly, they did well. The ribs they offered us were not only meaty but has the volume of meat to bone I expect. However, they did not come off the bone as cleanly as I know they can, but few restaurants get that right anyway. I think it has to do with the cooking technique and I won't fault them too much on that. The BBQ sauce is "OK" but nothing like the best. It is adequate. The pulled pork is good and the baked beans are wonderful. I tried the corn bread and was very pleased with it. It comes cut like a pie piece along with their honey butter and dipping the corn bread in the honey butter and eating it that way is tasty. So generally we were pleased and will probably be back. We were offered a choice as to whether to eat inside or outside. I would say outside is a better choice as inside seemed dark - but then it was one of the brightest sun-lit days so far this year and that may have influenced the impression. Do try it if you think you will like it, the food is good and the service is first rate.

i thought the food was pretty good but the very ,very loud head banging music ruined it for me . the music was so loud and annoying that it deterred from an otherwise good meal .play better and softer music and people will return .

Wanted to give this place a try despite a lot of bad reviews. Sadly, the food was just plain gross. This is a no frills type of place, so don't expect over the top service or amenities - which we were fine with that. But was hoping for at least a tasty dinner. Just didn't happen. You'd think if your restaurant is called "Porkchop", that ordering a pork chop would be a guaranteed winner. Got the chicken fried chop... it was dry, tasteless, gristle filled, and over battered - just NOT GOOD. Even the sides of potatoes and green beans had a weird flavor to them. We also got the fried pickles out of curiosity, and my husband who rarely thinks ANYTHING tastes bad thought they were pretty much disgusting as did I. My husband ordered the ribs for his meal and thought they were just okay. It's too bad the food here doesn't seem to be appealing to most because the place itself was pretty cool and the service was fine. I don't know how this place will stay open if the food is consistently bad.

I had such high expectations for Pork Chop- good reviews on Yelp (for the most part), the menu looked decent enough and we were going to a show just down the street at The City Winery. Had a reservation for 6PM- seemed like a good idea- since they take them- and it was no problem being seated on a Friday night. Place was empty. Pretty good appetizers - had shrimp and sausage skewers - Shrimp was cooked perfectly- sausage was tiny, but ok... we also had fried pickles which was very good-we did have pulled pork tacos as a starter that were tasteless. I should have ordered a "Pork Chop" what was I thinking? The place is called "Pork Chop"! But the first item on the menu for dinner was Fried Chicken. So, I asked the waitress, "do people rave about the fried chicken?" The answer was "yes" So, I asked what pieces come with the order, answer: "Thigh, Leg, Breast"..No wing...seemed odd, but my wife pointed out to me that wings are used on the "starter" menu... I went with Fried Chicken and Waffle..that order had two breasts..de boned ...the waffle was good enough...the chicken was just OK. the breading was thick...maybe too thick, Gotta say- it didn't knock me over at all. Only ate one breast, ate the other the next day, and made for a good left over. My wife had a grilled marinated veggie salad- she said it was tasteless. One of my friends at the table did order the fried chicken and didn't complain nor rave about it, his wife had a fried Pork Chop from "Pork Chop" , she said it was bad. I say proceed with caution as you make your picks at Pork Chop!

We went New Year's Day for brunch and were disappointed. The restaurant was really not busy at all but we waited for an hour for our food which arrived cold. It tasted fine but the portions were relatively small, the waitress should've mentioned the size... I ordered an egg that came cold and incorrectly cooked. The restaurant has interesting decor and the manager did deduct much of our pay due to the time we spent waiting but overall we would not return.

I don't write many restaurant reviews, but given my good experience after stumbling in here -- thought it was worth the review! Not crowded, smelled/tasted delicious, and a great drink selection. If you go wrong here, you're probably making poor menu choices. Ask your waitress! Ours recommended the fried ribs (some of the best I've ever had -- fell off the bone yum) and the cornbread. The beers she recommended we're also phenomenal. Service was a little slow, but we we're taking it easy and didn't mind. It's a good casual spot on Randolph.

Great cocktail list:) Menu is definitely different including chicken and waffles, sweet potato fries and the best pulled pork I've had in Chicago. Decor fits the bill complete with open view kitchen, dim lighting and a wall of butcher's tools. All staff members look hipster fantastic and are super sweet. Had a really romantic time there and looking forward to going back. Near lots of other great places like HayMarket.

I thought that since it's advertised at BBQ that it would have ribs, but they don't. I had a burger and it was decent, but if you have a BBQ place you should have real BBQ, and not just burgers.

Went there two weeks ago for an early dinner ane drinks with a friend. The service was good but you could visibly see the cooks through the window eating food. I wish I had seen this before I ate because my friend and I both got food poisoning and were sick for two days. I had eaten here before and liked the chicken and waffles but I will not return.

Bummer. The first time I order from this place was awesome - food was fast, hot and delicious. Sadly though, this time, it is now over 30 minutes late and we are still waiting. For how much this place charges, it should be on time. I work in restaurants and I understand the pressure and craziness that happens, but this is unacceptable in my opinion. If the food shows up cold - this review will be a 1 star - since 0 is not an option. UPDATE: Food finally showed up - over an hour late, waited 2 1/2 hours total. And, it was all cold. We ordered the wings appetizer, mac & cheese with bacon, chipotle bourbon ribs, and 2 orders of cornbread. Everything was cold, the cornbread was cold and dry, the ribs had almost no sauce on them, the mac and cheese was cold and congealed, and the wings were cold and flavorless. I am so bummed - this place was so good the first time around, but it seems they got too big and are severely understaffed. I don't care if food comes late, as long as it is good - this was so not worth the money.

It's pretty pricey for what we got. The service was great however. Honestly, we went there on a Friday night because it was not packed and we could actually hear each other... we had planned to go to Lone Wolf for some drinks and the Scotch eggs but that was absolutely slammed and consequently too noisy to enjoy. I have walked by this restaurant/bar numerous times and never have I seen it to have a lot of people inside... odd for a place like this on Randolph Street in the West Loop. That isn't great for Porkchop but is good for people looking to get in somewhere when all the other places are slamming. Overall an average place with decent service.

I think this is one if those hidden gems. Compared to other restaurants on the Randolph strip, it's less glamorous, but I have been genuinely pleased with the food and the pour at this spot! The prices are reasonable, and this place also has a brunch which is pretty darn good. They also deliver locally which is a nice plus. The cornbread is a must-try here; you won't regret it!

Porkchop definitely lives up to its name and has an amazing grilled porkchop. The sides, service, and beverages are mighty fine too. For Randolph street, the portions are big and prices are cheap. The atmosphere is charming and clean and definitely try the moonshine cherries. If you're a local or been in the Fulton area a minute this place is a breath of fresh air from the pretentious hipsters a few blocks to the east.

As it often is, the mission was fried chicken. Who knew a place named 'Porkchop' serves fried chicken? And more importantly, how did I not know this until recently? Anyway, my friend and I are no strangers when it comes to fried chicken, and as soon as we learned that Porkchop's rendition is apparently quite good, we scheduled a visit post-haste. The menu at Porkchop is mainly barbecue, so I was a bit surprised that when we both ordered fried chicken that our server said it was the best thing on the menu. That was exactly what I wanted to hear. The fried chicken dinner is three pieces (breast, leg and thigh) and is served with sauteed green beans and mustard smashed potatoes. I asked if I could substitute the smashed potaoes for sweet potato fries and was told it was no problem. Even though I was willing to pay for the fries a la carte, a restaurant's willingness to be flexible always sits well with me. To that I also added a side of cornbread with honey butter. I was pretty impressed. I am "Goldilocks" when it comes to fried chicken. It's often too dry, too greasy, too bland, too soggy...it's never quite right. Porkchop's version definitely erred on the side of greasy, but as my friend and I both agreed, we'd rather have it be greasy than dry. It was crispy, flavorful and juicy; exactly what you want in a fried chicken. Sides were great too. I tried my friend's smashed potatoes and I was happy to have gotten the fries instead. The potatoes were cold (I assume intentionally) and were huge chunks rather than smashed--more like potato salad. I did like the kick of mustard though. The green beans were not the least bit healthy (but let's face it, we were eating fried chicken so calorie count wasn't foremost on our minds) as they were sauteed in butter, but boy, were they tasty. Loved the cornbread and honey butter too. Our waitress seemed a little too anxious to turn the table as she tried to bring our check without the offer of dessert. I don't always order dessert but I do always like hearing what the choices are so we asked about them. Options were two choices of bread pudding, some pies and ice cream, but as soon as I heard peach cobbler, all bets were off. I have had better peach cobbler. Hell, I have *made* better peach cobbler. It was woefully lacking in peaches (at first inspection I wasn't even sure there were any) but there was a mound of cobbler topping. The ratio of fruit to topping was completely out of proportion. And sadly, the crumb topping tasted of raw flour. I could only manage a couple bites before I asked to have it wrapped up (I figured I could doctor it up at home and hopefully salvage it). Porkchop seems to have a pretty solid three-star average, and my visit echoed that. I did find the menu to have a lot of variety and all of the food looked very good. I also found the prices to be reasonable and the atmosphere comfortable. It's a solid option in the West Loop. I would have no qualms about returning.

This place is okay. Used to go there in the summer a bunch, but...and I don't know if they've fixed this...there was no air conditioning. If you're into really strong alcohol, they've got pretty much everything here. It's a bit divey if you're into that. If I wanted to go to a bar with quality strong drinks, this would be it. Food is good, too.

There are so many good BBQ places in the city, but this place just doesn't cut it. It's especially disappointing given that it's located in the West Loop. Restaurants in that neighborhood have higher expectations. I came on a Wednesday night with my fiancee. The two servers did not have things under control. It took at least 15 mins to order aka just get a waitress' attention. It's also disconcerting as you look around at the other tables and everyone has the same expression of "where's my waitress?" The food was disappointing. Hush puppies just tasted like corn Meal that had been deep fried- no sweetness to them. My fiancee ordered the pulled pork and again it was just disappointing. He lived in the South for 8 years, so he knows good BBQ. His statement was "this some of the worst pulled pork I've ever had." I ordered wings. The flavor was just spicy- that was it. Also, the chicken could have been cooked a little longer. It just didn't have that tenderness that you expect from wings. The one redeeming quality- my fiancee ordered the "Not your mom's apple pie" cocktail and that was delicious. But overall, if you're looking for the West Loop experience, this is not your restaurant. If you're looking for good BBQ, this probably also is not your restaurant.

I plan on going back to try to take in the experience a bit more. I came for an early dinner (4 pm - yeah, I know) with some friends I hadn't seen in a while, and we ended up gabbing the whole time, and I didn't pay as much attention as I should have. That in mind - great meal, and I hope to head back! Got The Mouthful - a pulled pork sandwich topped with fried pickles and slaw. Tasty business. My dinnermates and I both had trouble eating this handful and ended up fork-and-knifing it. I'm usually not a coleslaw lover, but this was boss. Had a spicy mayo involved, and I would've eaten more of it. The pickles seemed to be breaded incorrectly because after poking at it, the breading fell off. Weak sauce, mang - fried pickles are an automatic win in my book (if done right). The place was totally deserted when we were there, and the wait staff was twiddling their thumbs in boredom. The decor was fun (a curtain made of handsaws, anyone?) but the hallway with the bathroom smelled like ... a bathroom. Ick.

We walked here from Union Station after a coworker recommend this place. Was not busy at all and wait staff wasn't the most pleasant or helpful, but the food was pretty good. We tried a mixed platter of chicken, ribs , brisket and pork and the fried pickles. Pickles were huge slices and thick breading - very good. Bbq chicken was juicy, bbq pork wasn't great, ribs fell off the bone but overwhelming smoky flavor, and the bbq brisket was the best. The wait staff did nothing for a table using plenty of foul language with a couple kids in the restaurant, a different customer ended up approaching the table about their behavior. The restaurant decor is very strange, although I'm not sure how much of it is permanent for we were there right before Halloween Overall, Iould go back for the brisket.

Came here for restaurant week. Place is small but quaint and the tables aren't on top of each other. Service was good, only problem I had was that they wouldn't give me a sample of a draft beer before I committed to a pint. They said they don't do that here. I have never seen this in any place I've been to so I stuck to a beer I was familiar with. The pre fix dinner option was pretty impressive. We each got an appetizer. The sausage lolly pops and bbq shrimp were both good. We then each got the gumbo which had a good spice to it. Entrees went a little south after the apps & soup. I had the blacken chicken and I was expecting a 1/4 or 1/2 chicken but instead got the pieces of pounded chicken breast. Which were a little dried out but the blackened part was good. I drenched it in the bbq sauce which helped it out. My wife had the southern fried chicken which had a great crispy crust and the chicken was juicy and not greasy but we wished the crust had a little more flavor to it. It was a little bland. For dessert we hd the bread pudding and the bacon maple glazed donut. Both were very flavorful and we enjoyed very much. So to sum it up apps & desserts I would no 4 stars and entrees 2 stars so overall that is why I gave it 3.

Disappointed. Figured even a bad pulled pork sandwich would be decent. Sadly, nope. It was just blah and even pouring ample amounts of subpar sweet&spicy sauce the sandwich remained edible but nothing I'd go back for. My husband had the brisket and was disappointed he was pulling out large chunks of fat more so than actual meat. Nothing about the food wow'd us. The place was quiet for a Sunday afternoon Bears game and the bartender was very helpful in coming to our table when our server was busy with someone else. Our drinks were always full and we were checked on often. But at this time, service just is not enough to warrant another trip.

Though more late night eating options are always welcome, I can't say I was enthused about my choice (grilled chicken sliders) a few nights ago. The chicken lacked flavor, pep, spice or to simplify: It was without something the French call joie de vivre. The beer list also left me wanting for more. The good news is that our server was on point and the stylish space deserves a shout out. Will I be back again? Oh, I don't know. But my friend did devour his fried chicken and my other buddy seemed content with his porkchop. Verdict: Eat more fried chicken.

Fried chicken is dry and under seasoned. It is supposed to the best item on the menu and it is very underwhelming, I'd prefer Church's or Popeyes. Both have more flavor and moisture. Pulled pork sandwich was had decent flavor, but very little pork on the bun. Sweet potato fries were decent, nice bit of brown sugar on them. Smoked wings were a little small, and a little too smokey. Service was good for a Thursday night but no one was there (maxed out at 15 diners, including our 4 top, when we left at 930pm there was only a 2 top left and a 3 piece band). This place needs to get its game up. Maybe they should trim down the menu and focus on getting a small amount of items right, because it just did not come together.

we placed an order for delivery since they offered it. It had a fast turnaround but seemed like the food got cold for a short distance of delivery. Their BBQ sauce is on the sweeter side and that's what made us like it. The brisket was pretty tender but the chicken was on the dry side.

Porkchop seemed to be suitable for a group of guys to grab food before beers at Haymarket down the street. The price point was decent, it's not too formal, and they have barbecue and whiskey. Sounds like a winner, right? Friday evening the place was pretty well attended. I made reservations for five and we were seated promptly. The music was loud to the point you had to yell across the table. That shit is just annoying. Our server was very attentive and made the evening pretty seamless. She split the check after we all ordered, I felt like a dick, but we all had cards, and people were bitching like children. We expressed our gratitude verbally and on the tip line. Breakdown: + $5 PBR and Old Crow whiskey shot for $5 + Grilled Porkchop and maque choux was decent; good pork flavor was present and not over seasoned + Sandwiches received good praises (pulled pork & sweet fries) + Sauces were very good - Fried pickles appetizer were awful - Obnoxiously loud on weekend nights for dinner I've had Porkchop via Fooda in my office building and I was pleased. The food just didn't do justice for me at the restaurant. Nothing really grabbed me and made me want to come back. There are too many places in the area I've had better experiences. I may be back but not sure what the motivation will be.

I really want to give Porkchop five stars. I do... because I have sweet sweet dreams about their food. But unfortunately I have a plight with this place. I have been coming here since this place first opened, when there was noone here. When noone loved you Porkchop, I was there, dammit! I supported you when noone else did! And NOW, couple years later, when I walk in and 50% of the tables are open, you will ask if I have a reservation. If not, you will make me wait(for no reason, there is no way you are filling up these tables) or give me a reaaallllly shitty seat between the kitchen and bathroom. Come on guys, really? Please note that by the end of my dining experience, those same tables that I couldn't sit in... are still empty. That being said, lets discuss the foodgasm I have every time I come to this place. Ribs, amazing. Elotes, the bomb. Wings, *salvating at the thought*. The BACON TACOS, heaven on earth. The bacon tacos are the best thing I have eaten here. They're not on the menu regularly (on Tuesdays only I think) but every time we ask for them, they are able to make them. They also have beers like Delirium, Duvel and La Fin du Monde which are also amazing. Porkchop, your food is amazing but stop being uppity with your seating. Its unnecessary. But realistically, I will probably sit in the corner on the floor if you just give me bacon tacos.

No complaints, this is a solid comfort food joint. Nice atmosphere, great drink selection, and really good food. The mac and cheese was insanely good. Yikes. Too good. Chicken and waffles were tasty, as were ribs and porkchop. Definitely has a "neighborhood restaurant" vibe. Overall, it won't blow you away, but if you live nearby, it's a nice option to satisfy some soul food cravings.

So here's the thing. We have a standing group of friends that go out once a month and there is always an issue. Our most recent trips have been to Sepia, The Melting Pot, and The Drawing Room. Well, the curse is over! We had an amazing night! Porkchop was outstanding and I can't wait to go back. I saw this place in the Reader (maybe) a few weeks back and then was excited to see a YouSwoop for a great deal for dinner for four. One girl in the group is always VERY wary of places that offer discounts. She basically thinks if a place has a Groupon or something of the sort, the food will be leftovers, the staff will be stressed, and the place will be hopping with cheapskates! That could not have been further from the truth with Porkchop. Our server, Ariel, was wonderful! Of the six of us, we basically had her order everything for us playing the game of, "porkchops or chicken?" "regular chicken or chicken and waffles?" It probably would have saved her about 20 minutes if we just said bring us assorted six meals. But she was so patient and sweet and had great suggestions. We started with the fried ribs, wings, and mac and cheese. I thought all three were good, but the fried ribs were crazy delicious! I have never had anything like that at all and will definitely be ordering them for myself next time. The wings were great..they had this tangy lime taste to them. Ariel told us something about how long they're marinated or smoked...i just thought they were good. I had the Chicken and Waffles, others had the sampler platter, the Fried Chicken and some sandwich...maybe pulled pork. The married folks shared a plate, but the rest of us had PLENTY to take home which was great because it was very affordable! The only things I had that I wasn't crazy about were the mushrooms. They were actually really non-awesome. They were basically sliced white mushrooms in olive oil. Supposedly there was bourbon flavor, but we should have passed on those. The pulled pork wasn't bad..I'm not really crazy about pulled pork anyway, but it wasn't nearly as good as the ribs or the chicken. I would like to try the pork chop, it sounded good, but I had chicken to eat! We were a bit of a rowdy group and it was nice that we didn't feel like we had to be quiet at all. There was a big party with a birthday, and when they started singing, the entire restaurant joined in..it sort of felt like a grown up chuck-e-cheese with whiskey. Speaking of booze, the drinks were good. Again, I didn't really make any decisions, I said i like beer that is not wheat beer and let her pick one for me. I'm actually not even sure what it was, but it was good. The cocktails were good and pretty strong! Overall, we had a wonderful time! Thank you so much for having us Porkchop. The only issue is that there was no manager on duty so I couldn't say thank you to you in person, I had to write this long, overly detailed yelp post to let you know how much we liked you! See you next time!

First time we ordered here it was great. (Delivery) Second time was not. (Take out) Plan to go back this weekend w friends for fine in....(dot, dot , dot) ...hope it is consistent with my first experience as last time the food portions were tiny, no extra sauce. Paid $2 extra each to change the sides and they gave us the wrong sides !!!

Passable barbeque. Good beer selection. The pulled pork was decent, but lacks a lot of character. The half chicken has a good amount of natural smokiness but the barbecue sauce seem to be lathered on versus grilled in. The appetizers we ordered were also unmemorable. If you're craving barbecue, this will do the job... but don't expect a mind-blowing experience.

The brisket was OFF THE CHAIN and I can now state there is no reason to EVER return to Texas, as the only reason to go there is for the brisket. I tried the new location at 29 E Adams and I was very impressed. There are 2 reasons I did not give this a 5 star rating. 1) the fried pickles had the potential to be great, but failed on so many levels. Flavorless breading/corn meal that fell off...sad at best. 2) The decor at 29 E Adams involves free hanging saws. Two words owners, premises liability.

I really like this place. If I'm being honest, I think it's because it's the only reasonably priced, good quality porkchop that I know of in the city. But in any case, this spot is very casual: bench and booth-type seating. I've never had anything bad on the menu and the service has always been pretty good. Pretty decent beer list at standard prices (e.g. $5 for a 312) and they supposedly sport some whiskeys too, though I've never had them. I guess this is my "comfort restaurant" without all of the "comfort food" persay.

We live right around the corner and this is our go-to BBQ place when we need last minute plans or something close by. We've always thought that it's been pretty good overall, but that changed on valentines night. First, they said they only had this special valentines day menu for $33 per person. The portions were tiny, and all I wanted was cornbread but was told by the rude waitress that this special menu was the menu of the night. (Later we saw a family sitting next to us that was ordering off the regular menu.) Also, we waited over 10 minutes for the waitress to greet us at the beginning of our stay. We had "desert included" which was a slice of cheesecake less than a half of an inch thick. Our waitress never came back to check on us, was completely flustered, and took forever to get us take out containers. She was rude, couldn't handle her few tables, lied to us about the menu, making us choose the more expensive option, and it was a terrible meal experience for valentines day. My fiancé and I are disappointed, and now turned away from porkchop completely.

I work in the area and decided to stop in for lunch. First, I will suggest that the twenty-something who was the server was really inattentive. She spent more time chatting with friends smoking in the outside seating than attending to the guests. A tough way for any lunch to start. Unfortunately, the visit did not improve. I had the brisket lunch to benchmark their barbecue prowess. The brisket was very fatty, though tender enough. It was slathered with a sauce that overwhelmed the flavor of the brisket and just didn't seem much different than one might get from a grocery store bottle. And the portion was very small. If you've been to Chicago Q, I'd give their barbecue four stars. Porkchop gets two from me.

I ordered the Hippie - a veggie burger. It was clearly a Morningstar frozen burger slapped on a grill for a minute. i fail to see how this is any different than serving up an Eggo waffle. This is 2014. The little dive bar down the street from me makes their own veggie burgers. Heck, I make my own veggie burgers. What is Porkchop thinking when they order up a bunch of Morningstar pucks and warm them up for you for eleven bucks? Make your own, or take them off the menu.

We came here for lunch on a Saturday after my dentist appointment. Yeah, what a good way to get the teeth dirty from some bbq. The inside has a casual southern feel to it. I like that there are also a decent amount of tv screens even though they weren't televising a couple of them. They also have a nice big kitchen sink near the bathrooms should you need to wash up without having to go inside or open any doors. I like how there's a glass window where you can see the cooks prepping all the food and putting on the dry rubs and seasoning. Our waitress was really sweet, and helped me decide on what to order. I had the regular bloody mary, which was only $5 and quite delicious with a good level of spicyness. I had the brisket with sweet potato fries and coleslaw and that was pretty good. I wish we had the option to choose the sides as opposed to what the menu has the entree item coupled with and have to substitute and pay more. I also ordered a side of green beans. The portion was probably just right but I could have eaten more. The sauces were pretty good. I really liked the chipotle bbq. I wouldn't mind coming back and trying some of the ribs.

I was there Friday night with my husband and my son. Needless to say we were not thrilled with the food. The best part of the meal were the appetizers. We had shrimp wrapped in bacon, sausage and shrimp skewers and corn bread. They were all yummy and had I not had them I would have left hungry. I ordered their house burger cooked medium well. The only thing I could taste was the char from the grill, when I pulled the burger apart I was able to pull the char off, it kind of looked like it had been cooked over a dirty grill. Needless to say I only had a couple of bites and could no longer bear to eat the rest of it. The fries were limp and greasy. My son had the fried chicken, the crust on the chicken looked burned. My husband had the ribs and wasn't thrilled. For sure not a do over for us. As stated my most other reviews, the wait staff is slow and all tend to hang out by the bar.

Not sure wtf just happened. Handed a girl $10 in the food truck for a beef brisket sandwich and got a dried out pretzel bun with a sprinkling of shriveled beef jerky. What a joke. Sad part is that I'm not sure the sandwich would have tasted any better if they actually put any meat on it or used bread that was made in the last month. This place gives BBQ and food trucks a bad name.

Ate at their food truck. Completely ridiculous - $8 for a pulled pork sandwich. And that's it. No slaw, no sides. Pork was 'pulled' in very large pieces and included a few bone fragments. BBQ sauce on side was good, but not what I would want on pulled pork. Also, there didn't seem to be any sort of seasoning on the pork itself. The best part was the pretzel bun. Money down the drain.

I really don't understand the negative reviews for Porkchop, because a few friends and I came here tonight and had an *amazing* experience! We had planned an outing for my birthday here months in advance, and even started tweeting Porkchop about it, to which they replied and shared how excited they were to have us. We ordered the sausage trio lollipops and fried pickles. Oh man, so delicious. The lollipops were like, little balls of corn dog heaven. The pickles had awesome breading. Both appetizers came with delicious sauces. As for the entrees, I got the half bbq smoked chicken and my friends got the fried porkchop and ribs. Of course we had to sample each other's dishes, all of which were super tasty. I couldn't finish my chicken and look forward to the leftovers for tomorrow's lunch! We couldn't fit dessert in, so our waitress gave us 20% off coupons for next time. Later on, Porkchop had tweeted that they wanted to send us something to our table. Sadly, we had left, but I'm sure we'll be back again :)

Been here twice and both times I enjoyed the food. I didn't have an alcoholic drink either time I was there. The pulled pork was pretty good and the second time I had a chicken sandwich. The silverware is in a communal dish on the table with a row of paper towels. Bunch of saws hanging all over the place and you can see into the kitchen. I was there for a meeting so I will be back, I will probably eat while I am there. The food was pretty good.

I've been here twice and both times its been ok. This is not a place to watch calories. Its more of a cheat meal place (think fried chicken on a waffle, yes that exists). They have a good beer selection and for a place on Randolph, it certainly is a break from the norm. I was in the beer line and some cutie asked me if I wanted a lollipop. Of course I thought he was being cheeky. But, he just was asking if I wanted a battered meat pop on a lollipop stick. Let's not discredit the cutie so fast, he was indeed, making an Austin Powers-like pun of offering me his lollipop. Yeah baby! So the appetizers are creative, as are the guys.

Where did this place come from? A group of colleagues were in the burbs for business for a few days and were looking to take the Metra downtown for some dinner and drinks. Being local I just couldn't let them carry on with their original plans to hike out to River North and end up at Portillos for their one evening in the city. A few were craft beer fans so I wanted to get everyone to Haymarket before the night was finished, but where to find open reservations nearby for a 10 people literally hours before on a pleasant Friday night in the summer? Well, at Porkchop apparently. I found it while searching the immediate area around Haymarket and Open Table said we were good to go so I informed the arriving group of our new destination. I timed my arrival on the Green Line perfectly to greet them outside Union station and after a short walk West we arrived to a waiting table in a semi-private room. I didn't realize this was also a Whiskey bar so a few of group were pleasantly surprised as well. The draft beer list is pretty well balanced with a variety of local and popular US craft brews in bottles and cans. The draft list was pretty limited though with a single Goose Island selection representing all of Chicago (but that is OK, did I mention that Haymarket is mere blocks away?), so we ended up sampling some different whiskeys throughout dinner (like 120 proof Bookers). On to the food: being familiar with Elote I suggested some of these to go around, which were served traditionally on the cob (quarter cobs on sticks). We also opted for the Fried Ribs which I didn't get a chance to try but one of my friends like so much that he ended up trying the recipe back at home a few weeks later. The Sausage Lollipops where okay, they tasted more like a corn dog than any sort of spicy sausage. For an entree I went with the Chipotle Bourbon BBQ Ribs which arrived with a healthy drizzling of BBQ sauce. Now I'm a huge Smoque BBQ fan and I like my ribs dry and smoky, so when I see a coating of sauce it always makes me wonder they are trying to cover up. But these pork ribs were excellent, they had a really bold amount of smoky flavor and the tangy BBQ sauce was a welcome addition to the meat, which there was also a ton of. This was a generous half-rack full of meat and just enough fat to add flavor during cooking but very little to eat around. I vaguely recall devouring the sweet potato fries as well. The rest of our group opted for ribeyes, some brisket, and more fried ribs. Everyone was very pleased with the meal. The service was good as well, the only mistake I caught was they ended up a few beers short on the first round but then poured too many and dropped of a couple free Green Line drafts off at the table. After dinner we headed on over to Haymarket to enjoy some hopped-up local brews. :) I'm definitely planning on heading out to Porkchop again before the next Haymarket visit to sample the pulled pork or maybe even the brisket.

Hush puppies were the only bright point. I feel like a place named pork chop should have an excellent pork chop. Green beans were over cooked and potato salad was subpar. Boo. Very very disappointed with the gumbo. Fried pickles were okay just too thickly sliced.

I've dined at Porckchop twice over the past couple months. Both times I've left with a full belly, and a smile on my face. I'll keep going back, and recommend them whenever possible. Their ribs are the best in the city that I've tried so far. I've had both the regular, and chipotle style. The meat falls right off the bone, without any effort. The patio is great, and the service is pretty darn good!

Food: The cheesy grits were inedible. Why? They were vastly undercooked and have you ever tried to eat raw grains? Yea, me neither. The Chicken and Waffles are Okay. The spiced maple syrup is tasty and the Fried Chicken is good (but not great). The cornbread is also pretty good, but slightly heavy. Service: The service is spotty at best. I've been on two different occasions, once the service was ok. A few weeks later, it was horrendous. We came in 1st while the restaurant was empty, some how it filled up and we were the very last to receive our orders. We waited well over an hour to eat, while people that had been seated 20 minutes after we arrived had been served immediately. We were not even able to bring our concerns to the manager, since there is not one on duty on weekends. Thanks for the memories Porkchop, you will not be missed.

Bourbon, beer and BBQ. I've been completely sleeping on Porkchop and love what they are doing. Last night we had our second meal here and I thought it was about time I got around to a review. There are no shortages of restaurants along Randolph street and I've surely walked past Porkchop so many times I've lost count. Porkchop reminds me of a BBQ joint that I would find in the lowcountry. After a quick walk over through the bitter winter chill (wasn't it like mid sixties a day ago?) I was in the mood for bourbon. Not only is there an impressive collection of them here, you can get flights and sample a few. My flight included the Devil's Cut, Makers 46 and Knob Creek Single Barrel. I enjoyed them all, the Knob Creek was the best. They have some great local craft beers on about a dozen taps. I followed up the bourbon with the Abita Turbodog and my wife had the Dragon's Milk. As for the food, I've liked everything I have had. Our last visit we had the fish tacos, blackened chicken and the highly touted fried chicken. It's not often that I get fried chicken and I really liked it. Even though I consider myself a big eater I always go home with leftovers since portions are so large. Last night I had a half slab of the chipotle BBQ ribs and my lady again had the blackened chicken. We add sides of green beans, corn bread and pulled pork BBQ. Did you catch that? You can get sides of meat here. Outstanding. My ribs came with slaw and fries and they were smoked for hours and the pink meat was falling off the bones as I worked through them. Porkchop has a grillman that is on his game and knows what he's doing. I liked the cornbread as the best side and the honey butter that came with them was sinfully good too. The pork was delicious, I can see myself adding that as a side just about every visit. As with most Southern cooking things are a bit on the heavier side, so know that going in. They also serve brunch and the menu has chicken and waffles and other creative dishes. Our service here has been adequate and we've never felt pressed by them. I would like to see printed draft beer menus to make things easier all around. Great idea with the huge sink outside of the bathrooms. Because, you know, great BBQ can get messy.

Stopped in with a larger group on a whim during a late night birthday celebration. The hostess and staff were extremely accommodating and sat our group of 10 outside on the patio, but when it started to rain immediately helped find space inside. Couldn't have asked for a better venue to celebrate!

To start, I wish I could post a picture, but ALLLLLL the food is gone. It would just be a photo of an empty, saucy plate. I ordered for the office and there were five of us. About 10 minutes after I order, someone changes their mind about the order. When I called the girl who answered was very patient, changed the order, and didn't charge me for the food that was changed. Great customer service! Then, the food itself was super yummy. For 5 people we ordered the porkchop (BEST dish), BBQ brisket sandwich (delicious), The Mouthful sandwich (very tasty), chicken and waffle sandwich and the ribs. The &W sandwich was ok but nothing special, and the ribs were just a tad overcooked. Overall though it was a great choice! Can someone roll me home now? I'm stuffed :)

Not impressed at all! My hubby took me there last night for my birthday dinner (10/30). I felt so bad because he was really trying to choose a restaurant that neither of us had ever been. So, when I found out we were going to Porkchop, I was super-excited. Welp, the excitement didn't last for long. My husband ordered the Fried Porkchop served atop loaded smashed potatoes. The pork chop was overcooked and under-seasoned and the potatoes were lukewarm. The birthday girl (yep, that's me) ordered the "Famous" Southern Fried Chicken with smashed potatoes and sauteed green beans. Not a winner, winner, chicken dinner at all. My chicken was overly overcooked, the smashed potatoes were meh, and the sauteed green beans were bland and under-blanched (is that a real word?) So, I expressed my grievance with our extremely sweet and energetic waitress. She allowed me to place another order so I ordered the Fried Catfish with French Fries and Coleslaw. They had the nerve to send me another piece of overcooked FROZEN CATFISH (are you kidding me???!!!) The batter was fried so hard it was detached from the fish. I really tried to enjoy it but then the fish was undercooked. Instead of complaining and further disappointing my husband, I ate a few bites and just told him I was "full." Bottomline: Will never go back!

Came here on a double date for the first time a few weeks ago. I had the pulled pork, bbq ribs, corn and cornbread. Cornbread came with honey butter and was deeeeeeeelish! I also had really good drink that I cannot remember the name off. It was made just right though:). It was a bit drafty the night I went but it was a cold winter night with few people dining inside. But I wouldn't mind it being a little warmer. Anyway, I'd definitely come back.

Need to force yourself to go to the gym? Pork Chop helps you get started. I'm a Pork Chop fan, the deep fried pork chop, fried ribs, are to die for-literally. What a treat. And the bar selections align with the straightforward food offerings in providing unique treats and the extra fat and protein quotas that once achieved, need to be worked off so starving oneself is not necessary for the next weeks or so. Takeout works as well. Enjoy, I'll see you at the gym now!

This review is solely based on CUSTOMER SERVICE/MANAGEMENT. Which to me, is still very important in the restaurant experience. I had an expired "deal" thru 3 o clock deals, which I had paid $15 for $30 worth of food. I was going to visit the establishment with a guest, so wanted to ensure they would honor the PRICE PAID for the voucher--$15 (since it was expired). Legally, on all sites like Living Social, Groupon, etc....a merchant has to honor the face value (what was paid) even if the deal is expired. This is a legal thing and even printed on the voucher & on deal websites. This said, the owner would not honor the $15 I paid and told me to "contact the company for my money, we don't do business with 3 o 'clock club anymore". A couple thoughts on this... 1) If you are running all kinds of deals with various companies, how/why are you not familiar with the legality behind them? 2) How much would our bill be for 2 people? Lets see...at least $30, so you would still be making money off my visit. 3) Why would an establishment want to upset customers over $15 that was already paid? I'm not benefiting from any deal at all and you are actually making more money off me by getting me to your restaurant. I have no desire to patronize this restaurant based on the 3 out of 5 start yelp reviews and the lack of trying to work with me on this situation. Really, its $15!! SMH It's not even the money I'm upset about...its the principle behind not working with me and most of all not honoring legally what they are supposed too and wasting my time on this matter. Waiting on resolution......

I was really looking forward to dining here after they recommended their Damn Good Baby Back Ribs & Fried Chicken to me on Twitter. Sadly, both were tasteless. The ribs didn't have any rub or seasoning on them; the bbq sauce was the only taste we could find and the chicken - while moist - also didn't have a spec of seasoning on it. The food portions were a good bang for your buck, but the taste was super bland, so thumbs down for me. The best thing about our Thursday night visit was the live band "Le Percolateur"

It smells so friggin' good in here. Just stopped in to have a drink, but my friend (a local) who came with me is dying to go back. Great selection of whiskeys and ryes, and super-friendly staff. I call this block of Randolph, the "real-ness" block; with Floyd's Barbershop nearby, and the promise of great BBQ here, it's more "cool" and less "fancy." That's keeping it real, yo.

I've come to Porkchop probably about 6 or 7 times already, originally by finding it on restaurant.com . Not to repeat a lot of the other reviewers, but I think the food isn't the best BBQ I've had in the city, but it's definitely great for the price point. I think the brunch menu is honestly the best thing at the restaurant. Location has easy parking, usually no to little wait times, and a nice modern, warehouse-y a la West Loop feel. My only quibble so far, is the service. The waitresses seem a bit aloof and not very in tune with their customers. Drink refills are late and food seems to take a while to come out, even when the place is near empty. If you're in West Loop and are looking for a place that won't kill your wallet, definitely try here first.

We went here to celebrate my birthday but left a little underwhelmed. I got a burger because I heard they were good here and it was cooked too well was super dry and hard to swallow. The pretzel bun felt hard as well and did nothing to help the burger (and I love pretzel buns). The pulled pork tacos were pretty good however. I guess stick with the pork here and maybe you will be better off. As for the interior, I was expecting more as well. The best areas were the saw screen wall and the long table near the expo kitchen that was un sat the whole time. We had asked to move to a larger table because the first square table we sat at was way too small for 4 people. WIth the paper towel rolls, water, ice, drinks, etc, there was hardly any room for food! Friends came later on for drinks and we then moved to a 3rd table behind the saw screen. The banquette seats seemed hard and not too comfortable, but otherwise this seemed like it was the best table here. We probably won't be back, but if we were, we would stick with the bbq and the pork - seems like thats what they do best and will have better chances to leave more satisfied.

Just finished an early dinner here after seeing a matinee of "The Book of Mormon." We were seated around 5:00 and escorted to their "VIP" table which was a booth set apart from the rest of the restaurant and generally a good spot but rather dark being tucked in the corner. The overall decor, saw curtains, mason jar light fixtures, was cool without trying too hard. On to the food- We got elotes and fried pickles to start. Each were solid but nothing I would feel compelled to order again. For the entrees, three people in my group got the fried chicken and I split the BBQ platter with another person. Overall the food was....ok. The fried chicken had a nice dark, crispy crust but it was lacking both salt and moisture. The BBQ platter was hit or miss. The french fries- fresh cut and crispy. The ribs- a bit over sauced for me, but tender and overall very good. The chicken- bad. The skin was burnt, the meat was beyond dry and the whole thing just lacked flavor. The pulled pork-ok. It was tender but was needed added sauce (that I had to as for) to make it taste good. Overall the place was ok but not great. I liked the vibe and would go back for a beer and maybe an appetizer but would skip the dinner. Just not flavorful enough for a repeat.

My porkchop, brings all the boys to the yard... well you'd think i'd try the porkchop at a place called PORKCHOP. Instead i opted for the famous fried chicken, it was pretty good, had a little kick to it. We tried the fried pickles and the sausage lollipops as appetizers... i think you can avoid both, they're good, but the pickles I thought were cut to thick and the lollipops weren't as exciting as i hyped them up to be in my head. Definitely get the corn bread... you can even have that for dessert, it's that good. But for our actual dessert we tried the bacon maple glazed donuts... not a fan. My boss did the smart thing and just ate the donut "skin" with the bacon since that's where the glaze soaked, the inside of the donuts were basically like yellow cake, so no fun. I have to come here for happy hour or late night, it seems that's where the actions is at.

The pulled pork sandwich is fantastic. Their outdoor patio is awesome on a nice summer day. Their staff is very nice, but doesn't know their beer list at all. To be fair, they're a whiskey bar. But, if a waitress doesn't know what a beer is like, they shouldn't make something up just to please a customer, which is what they did (I had asked her what a beer was like, she said she didn't know, 5 minutes later my friend asked the same question, said it was a brown ale, he ordered it, 5 minutes later she came back and said it was a red rye.) In the grande scheme of life, who gives a hoot. But when you're paying for knowledgeable service, you want what you pay for. Additionally, there was a pubic hair in my fries. And then whatever oil they used for frying sweet potato and regular fries tasted funky and not so appetizing. I had a nice time, but I won't be going back.

Good Pork Menu! Love the Smoked Wings in that Buffalo BBQ Chipotle sauce Love Slab of Ribs - Meat falls off the bone. Love the innovation of trying to do something different with pork. Good place to eat dinner at a decent price. Good Service and Bartenders Great Music, they have live DJ's that come in and spice it up. Shout out to my girl Tierney (the bar tender) I like this place. But you gotta be a Pork Fan, which I am! SOLID!

For a non pork eater, I like this place for their other items. Came here with six other friends and had a great time on the very small patio. The wings were good, fried chicken great, and from the raves I heard from my friend, the fried catfish was pretty awesome as well. You have to try cornbread and honey butter. We even made a video for chicagoporkchop Instagram page. Check it out...

The ribs fall right off the bone in your mouth. The Chipotle Bourbon BBQ baby back ribs are just the right balance of smoky and spicy and enjoyable. I've been three times, each time I get the same thing and I've been consistently enamored. I'm taking away a star because unfortunately, each time the fries have not measured up- they've been slightly soggy and tasteless, maybe because the ribs are on top, but I like my fries tastier. I still consider Porkchop a sort of hidden West Loop gem. It has a great casual vibe, the service is friendly and not rushed, the decor is put together and vintage, and I love the country music playing in the background.

Love PorkChop. Almost always get the deep fried along with some good bourbon. I just try to limit my trips to once per month and plan on some extra time at the gym to pay for it. I've seen several reviews talking about the service as much as the food. I would agree. I go there a fair amount since it's so close so have gotten to know some of the staff. That probably means I'm missing out on the bad parts because they always take good care of me.

Shitty service. Ok BBQ sauce. Had ribs and wings. Don't order the wings- they have no flavor. Fried pickles were the only good move.

I had very high expectations for Porkchop despite the mixed yelp reviews. So my hubby and I went for dinner on a Wednesday. I got a YouSwoop dinner for 4, called in advance to make sure we could work out the deal - for just 2 people. After much drama, they finally gave us an acceptable exchange for our deal --- which turned out to be the highlight of the night. The staff, was really really nice and went out of their way to try to accommodate us. We got the Mac&Cheese with pulled pork - it was good, very Kraft Mac&Cheese, the pulled pork had little flavor. The Fried Ribs were great, greasy goodness! For dinner, my hubby got the Southern Fried Chicken, he is really very easy to please rarely ever complains about food. He found the chicken bland and oily - after a few minutes he declared that the chicken did not come close to Popeye's! I got the Beef Brisket, which I have not had since last year. First bite, I thought I was eating a bbq flavored gummy bear. They took my dinner back saying that their supplier delivered a different type of beef. I settled for the pan-seared catfish with spinach. All the salt that they forgot to put in the Mac&Cheese and my hubby's chicken they put on the catfish. I really really wanted to like this place, with the kind staff they have, but really they have to do something with the taste of their food!!!

Had brunch here today and, in honor of the recently departed Roger Ebert, a big thumb's up! Plenty of food for a very good price. I didn't sample the mimosas (work day), but fellow brunchers did and they appeared pretty happy. We had about 20 people in our group and, IMO, service was very good. I'd recommend a brunch visit, anyway! At 11 a.m. on Sunday, wasn't very crowded at all.

The decor is a little creepy... like the film set of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It's interesting, I suppose. The service was good, the ambience is nice for a group gathering or date, and the food is average. We made a reservation a week or so ahead of time, and the day before, they called and told us there's an event that night. They didn't tell us to reschedule, but when we got there they acted like they were doing us a favor by letting us eat there during their event. So that was a little strange. We were right next to some question and answer session for crime writers. The food was average. Not great, not bad. For a restaurant called Porkchop, I would have expected the pork dishes to be fantastic. The menu was pretty limited. They have to step up their game if they want to survive in the area, though. There are better options in the neighborhood.

The main thing Porkchop is lacking is SEASONINGS! We had the mac 'n' cheese which was very bland. Had to add a ton a pepper and many sprinklings of salt. Deep fried pork chop again lacked seasoning - both on the meat and in the breading. Green beans had nothing. Same with the fried chicken. The pork and the chicken were both overcooked and dry. They came with sauces and guess what? Yes you're right (no seasonings for those who didn't follow the pattern). There were only two girls working the whole front of the house (host, bartender, and waitress) and our waitress was still very attentive and nice so I give an extra star.

Porkchop. Your name called to me . . .wooing me with promises of what was to come. Your 28 or more kinds of whiskey just waiting to be poured into my glass, beckoned me with their silkiness. And your location- one that others have known, was convenient to me. But our visit was a mixed bag the other night. Porkchop- the newest addition to this stretch of Randolph is in the old La Mediterranee space (I think it's actually been something else more recently). Loved the small bar up front and the room divider made up of hand saws strung together (very artistic). While we were there during dinner- the word is that this place is open late so go and enjoy any one of their specialty drinks (the dark and stormy is my fav), their wide array of whiskeys, or any of the craft beers, for this place works for me as a bar. What didn't work as well for me was the restaurant with its smallish menu and lack of domestic light beers (yes- I'm one of those who would like a Light beer with my meal). We ordered a range of the food from the fried pickles and shrimp/sausage kabobs to start with, to the namesake porkchop as one of our entrees. The porkchop was great- juicy- perfectly prepared served with smashed red potatoes that were also very good! We also tried the corn and leek risotto (okay) and the meatloaf sandwich -also just okay- something about meatloaf on a ciabatta roll doesn't really work for me. And I must have missed that it was going to come with BBQ sauce on it as that overpowered the taste of the meat The menu has a few salads, some sandwiches and basically 5 entrees ( those mentioned above in addition to fried chicken and spaghetti) So don't go thinking there is a wide menu. And don't think that this is a place for BBQ (even the Yelp listing is wrong) as while they do put BBQ sauce on the shrimp skewers and meatloaf sandwich-there are no ribs, brisket, chicken, etc that would constitute BBQ. As for the service? Our server was great (thanks Caitey!). Friendly, and helpful although I would expect that since there were only a few tables that had people at them. Our server actually found a couple of Miller Lites for me in the back that had been left over from some party- so she was A OK in my book! But what bugged me the most were the little things that don't make me think a restaurant is in it for the long haul. If you call for reservations- the phone has an answering machine that picks up during open hours but doesn't say much more than the hours. Was I supposed to leave my name at the beep? Call back? I hung up and gambled we'd get a table. The owners also lack the detail discipline to change their credit card machine name from the old place to PorkChop (still says La Mediterranee on my receipt). And if they skimp on the details there- where else are they skimping? And the cardinal sin? The bathrooms were dirty. Didn't look like anyone had cleaned them before opening that day. This address has had many reincarnations over the years. While Porkchop is probably one of the better ones, and may make it as a bar, it's got a ways to go as a restaurant, as they work through the "new place blues". Stop in for a whiskey, would be my advice!

Over the course of the past 2 months - I have been to this Porkchop 4 times. I have a had different and unique experience each time. I want to start by saying that the food here is amazing and caters to any BBQ fan's taste buds. Southern Backwoods deliciousness. My first trip was simply a to-go order - and I was thrilled by how quickly my food came out! I ordered the Hybrid with sweet potato fries. Best burger and fries I have had in Chicago to date. Pretzel roll encasing a huge glorious creation of beef and pork fused together. Yes. Now, my second trip to Porkchop was to dine in with a friend from out of town - this trip was also a success. Ordered BBQ wings for an appetizer - cooked just right. The 1/2 BBQ Chicken and sweet potato fries were on point as the chicken held a sweet BBQ flavor, but stayed smokey at the very same time. Here is where things got tricky - the third visit. I took my girlfriend and my parents here as they were visiting for the weekend. I decided to pull out all of the stops and order the BBQ Platter. At $26, I am expecting the works at this point - and when the food comes, it is not verbatim what I had read on the menu. It was supposed to be a 1/2 BBQ Chicken, Partial rack of ribs, pile of pulled pork and three different sides. The sides came out as they were supposed to except I had to remind the waitress to actually bring them out, and the main entrée portions were different - I ended up receiving my chicken on sliders (not nearly equivalent to the size of a 1/2 chicken), brisket instead of pulled pork (not a terrible mistake) and the ribs were a small portion of what the menu puts on. The meal was delicious and I had just assumed that maybe they had a variance into what they put on their platter...until my fourth trip last night. My roommate and I wanted good BBQ and I had mentioned that the food at this place was pretty darn good, so he was in. As we sat down, I looked over the menu and decided to spring for the platter again - because I was starving and I wanted to see if the first time was different..and it indeed was. The platter that I was served this time was A FEAST. Glorious in all of its BBQ lure, the BBQ Platter here is incredible. I substituted the corn for Cornbread (so good) and fries for Sweet Potato fries (still great). The waitress had said no problem for the substitutions, but I ended up getting charged for the cornbread - but with a full stomach and satisfied taste buds, I was in no mood to put up a fuss. All in all, this place has great food, cool ambiance, friendly wait staff and although they need to get their efficiency game together and screwed me on a BBQ Platter one instance - I will definitely still be a patron of Porkchop.

The staff was great, we had a large party (12+) and had plenty of space to spread out at the communal tables next to the kitchen viewing window (pretty cool feature). Portions were enormous, I enjoyed my beef brisket, and I thought the apps (ELOTES!) were well executed. I will definitely go back, and the best bonus was when I checked-in on FourSquare after 8pm I was given a 15% discount on our entire order. Woo Hoo! Ribs and Porck Chops looked delicious as well. Can't wait to try them on a future visit.

Went here for the first time on 4th of July. Inside was quiet..outside had a couple empty tables. Waited at the hostess stand for over 5 minutes...had to go to bar to ask for help. Bartender said we could seat ourselves outside. Waited at least 10 min. and had to go in and ask for menus before someone showed up. Ordered drinks and some fried pickles. Drinks came after about 10 min. Ordered food. Took quite a while for how quiet it was. Brisket was good but really small portion. Waitress never asked how anything was or asked if we wanted more drinks. Never got the fried pickles after asking about 3 times. They finally showed up while I was looking at the bill and you'd think they would have at least left them and comped us. The table next to us never got corn bread that was ordered. Another table had their food delivered to someone else. Service was horrendous and indicative of a restaurant open about a week. Not sure I'll ever go back after that experience. Sometimes you can overlook bad service if at least the staff is friendly and apologetic...didn't even get that.

First impression was good - I arrived earlier than my party and the bartender recommended a gin/St. Germaine cocktail which was very good. Once two of us had arrived, we were seated, and advised the waitress we were waiting for a third friend. She came around twice within 5 minutes to ask if we wanted to order, so we explained again that we were waiting until our friend arrived. She seemed very eager to take our orders. Once we had all perused the menu, however, she was nowhere to be found. The kitchen was similarly slow. We started with the trio of sausage lollipops (really just mini fancy corndogs). After quite a while she came out and said they had run out of a certain type of sausage and it would be a little longer. They finally came out and were ok, but really nothing special. The entrees, again, were very slow in coming. At one point she came by and said we were just "waiting on the well done chop" (she had taken issue with the fact that my friend wanted her chop well done, ie with no pink. I thought that was pretty reasonable, but she seemed to disagree). We ordered the grilled pork chop with applesauce, fried chicken and chicken fried pork chop. The servings were generous, but the meat was pretty bland and a little dry. It didn't seem like they season their meat or batter. The green beans and smashed potatoes were very good, despite the mix up we had in receiving them. When my green beans hadn't arrived, I asked if they were coming, she said no, my order only came with potatoes. I showed her the menu and she rolled her eyes and said there was someone new in the kitchen who still wasn't familiar with the menu, and it was their mistake. That doesn't explain why she didn't know without having to be shown. A simple I'm sorry I'll get it for you would have been fine, no need to bash the kitchen staff. Overall the service was very uneven and came with a side of attitude. The food was ok, but when the side dishes are more memorable than the main course (and the restaurant's namesake), it's not somewhere I'll be lining up to return.

Good overall. I don't have any plans to go back but if someone wanted to make plans there I'd make no objection. DECOR: Hip, fun, comfortable SERVICE: Our server was fun and sassy but not overly-familiar FOOD: Pretty good. Had the sausage lollipops--some were better than others. These were fine. Both me and my friend had chicken and waffles at the server's recommendation. I would also recommend-very good. There's a nice chili flavor to the chicken and syrup to cut the sweetness.

I decided to check out Porkchop on a Sunday afternoon with my brother and dad before heading to a Blackhawks game. Beer - I was impressed with the craft beer selection... They had "Golden Goddess" from Goose Island's Fulton & Wood series on tap (my server could tell I was eying it, and she gladly offered our party of 3 all free samples). I ordered one of those, as well as a Southern Tier Pumking (which I hadn't been able to find on tap since last October. They had about a dozen beers on tap and all would have been solid craft choices. They also had a good selection of single barrel bourbons, etc... but I didn't have time to explore those. Food - I ordered the "Chicken and Waffles" which came with 2 boneless chicken breasts that were fried in what appeared to be a spicy cornflake batter, served on top of homemade waffles and a side of hot pepper infused maple syrup. It was a large portion and still only $12 (because I was apparently still able to order off the brunch menu at 3:30 in the afternoon)...score! My dad ordered the brisket which he was pleased with and my brother ordered the BBQ combination platter. Nobody had any complaints. If you're looking to get your craft beer / whiskey / smoked BBQ fix, this is a good spot for sure. It might no be the very best BBQ around, but combined with a solid beer and whiskey list and reasonable prices, I'm a fan for sure...

My service was exceptional...although, we were the only diners in the place at 9:20pm. Our waitress was SUPER nice. Gave us a sample of the cornbread...I asked to try the different bbq sauces, and she even gave a sample of her choice of beer (which sadly was not to my liking). I must say, the actual bbq is good, but it's not quite as exceptional as some other bbq places (smoque, lillie q). The sauces they had were quite good! However, i ordered the ribs...and I have never seen such a good cut of meat before at any chicago are bbq restaurant! I can usually handle half a slap pretty easily, but these were just piles of meat! I must say, for the money get so much! The corn bread was amazing and I swear that I had the best green beans I have ever ate before. The only negative note, which wasn't even a big deal, was they were out of wine and my beer wasn't served exactly cold. Check came, used a restaurant.com coupon right from my phone and had no troubles using it! Only catch was, we were $3 shy of $50...so bring on desert! Peach cobbler, so good!

Went here last night. It was a Tuesday night and the place was pretty dead, but our server was very friendly and so was the bartender. Everything I had was fantastic. Fantastic whiskey selection and reasonably priced. If you like BBQ and you like bourbon, you'll like this place. I'll definitely be back.

Recently stopped in on a sultry Friday night for a quick bite. We had a fantastic appetizer of fried ribs and potatoes and finished it off with fried chicken and waffles. Service, beer selection, and food was all excellent. Go very hungry because the portions were very large. Between the appetizer and entree, we had more than enough food for the two of us. Plus they have an awesome Sunday Brunch.

So let's just breakdown: Good ribs, terrible service Cons: I made a reservation for 7:15 for 6 people. Got there at 7:15 and at 7:30 was told that the hostess was waiting on a party that was 30 mins late for 8 people and if they didn't show we could have their table. I said well what happened to our reservation she said they give precedent to reservations that were made further in advance. Wha? Does that make sense to anyone? We finally were seated and did not have a server or drink menu for 20 mins- so I had to request both from the hostess. The waitress forgot our drink order and came back twice to ask what we ordered- we didn't get drinks for another 15 mins. She also had a difficult time explaining their specialty platter and the portion size. Pulled Chicken was dry. Corn on the Cob was dry, flavorless (think if you microwaved corn on the cob). No wet naps at a BBQ joint Pros: Ribs were good. Drink menu had good selections

the food tastes like a chain restaurant without it being a chain. it's as if a bunch of investors wanted to get in on the BBQ trend and hired some ex-Applebee's cooks. Mac and cheese: nothing special. like kraft family style with more sauce but minus salt. BBQ pork sliders: take your favorite grocery store corn syrup based sauce and put it on some flavorless pork and put that on a cafeteria dinner roll. oh, and put a pickle on top so the roll is soggy from pickle juice. fried ribs: might have been ok if the sauce was left off and they weren't deep fried. chicken and waffles: dredge chicken in flavorless batter and fry, place on top of a frozen waffle, mix ancho chili powder into some aunt jemima syrup. also, waiter gave all our food to the table next to ours...twice. BBQ at its worst.

I really don't understand the low starred reviews for this place. Came here during the week with my boyfriend. He had purchased a groupon and we had walked by this place plenty of times since he lives near the area. We shared the Elotes as an appetizer. Good. Nothing mind blowing. I would've asked for more of the chipotle aioli but i was being mindful of calories. I ordered the Blackened Chicken. Big entree! Had enough leftovers for two more dinners. The chicken was flavorful however not spicy at all. When i see the term "blackened" I expect a bit of a kick. Nonetheless, the dish was still tasty. The bf ordered the fried pork chop. Also a rather big entree. He said it was ok, nothing mind blowing but good. He did mention that the potatoes needed a little more flavor. Place is pretty big and the staff are very friendly. As stated above we went in the middle of week around 8pm and it was pretty empty. There were two other couples there and a group of 4. Bottomline: Place is better than OK but not ultra fantastic. Prices aren't that bad seeing as you get so much food. Would probably go back and try other dishes.

Stood in line for 20 minutes at Food Truck Fest and when we got to the Pork Chop truck he was out of pulled pork and mac n cheese. 1 hour into the fest. He wasn't telling anyone. So I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich-$8 and it was terrible. Dry and doused with bad sauce. Never again.

Fried & BBQ Chicken was great but the Chicken Fried Porkchop was PINK in the middle! I'm pregnant & I pray I don't get sick or get salmonella poisoning. I told the server & she offered to make a new one & they use a thermometer to ensure its done...why wasn't this done beforehand?!? Pork is nothing to play with. Very disappointing... How can you name your restaurant "PorkChop" when you don't know how to fry one?!?

I was very excited to try Porkchop as it is coming to my neighborhood, hyde park. We first ordered wedge salads and the portion was incredibly small, not a very good value. When ordering entrees, we asked the waitress to try the barbeque sauce as I specifically said I do not like spicy food. The waitress let me try the damn good sauce, which I did not find to be spicy. I noticed that the 1/2 bbq chicken entree listed on the menu notes that it comes with a chipotle bourbon bbq sauce. However, the waitress said that it actually came with the damn good sauce. The chicken came with one spoonful of coleslaw. What a skimpy portion. My boyfriend's pulled chicken sandwich was also a skimpy portion. The sauce was way too spicy and when asking the waitress about it, she said she did not know it came with the chipotle bourbon sauce, she thought it came with the damn good sauce. She apologized and they took my meal off of the bill. Upon realizing she made a mistake, she had another waitress bring us the check and she never came back out to our table. I am very disappointed with Porkchop and hope it improves.

Stopped in here for Supper Club on a random Monday night that also happened to be the Monday that the Black Keys were playing at United Center. Whoops. We got there early so our group of six had our choice of seats but by the time we were leaving, it was standing room only. Poor girl who was the only server and bartender on at the time was running her ass off but doing a pretty good job for getting surprisingly slammed. The atmosphere of the place was awesome, I loved the decor... exposed bulbs and the wall made of hanging saws was an interesting touch. The rolls of paper towels on the dowels screwed into the tables were cool, big jugs of water at the table were nice especially since our server was busy. We got mac and cheese and fried pickles to start and split... mac and cheese was good, still not the perfect mac. WHERE ARE YOU PERFECT MAC? The cheese was a bit soupy but could have been cheesier. Fried pickles were a hit, I thought there was a bit too much breading on them. (Call me crazy but I think Hooters fried pickles are where it's at.) I got the fried chicken and husby got the pork chop, because duh, what should you get the first time you come to a place called Pork Chop. I had a bite and it was good, homemade applesauce was good too. My fried chicken was good, I got the gravy on the side at the recommendation of a friend who had tried it before and said they went a little heavy handed with it. Not the best fried chicken ever, could have used a bit more seasoning in the breading but maybe I should have said screw the waistline completely and smothered it in gravy as they had intended. The potatoes that came with the chicken were amazing though, highlight. I will be back if only to order the bacon donuts on the dessert menu at a less crazy time.

Food is good. The fried chicken was crispy but it lacked seasoning to me. I added some salt and it was good. Drinks are really strong. Id probably go again because id like to try something else on the menu.

I was amazed this place was open after midnight and still had the kitchen full on going. Me and my drunk crew just finished pre-game, game, and after game drinking at the Bulls game. Should I say game again? Any how we needed food and found this place open and happily ordered the fried chicken and waffles. I just have to say that I must try to repeat this happiness of drunkenness and syrupy chicken fried euphoria.

This review is for drinks and dessert only.....but hope to provide a more thorough review soon! We ordered the bread pudding and bacon donuts for a fabulous dessert after dinner down the street. The bread pudding was delicious-loved the raisins and coconut! Yumm! The donuts were OK, not great. We had Do-Rite donuts this week, which are stellar, and these were far below the quality of those. My husband had a grapefruit beer. It was amazing. I would return for a glass of that! I loved the decor inside (the patio was a bit dull), and our server was super friendly. Can't wait to return for a meal!

We love a new restaurant. It being restaurant week I let Mr. Man choose a spot only to be faced with a restaurant full of meat. Making a reservation on Open Table five minutes before walking in we were greeted with a table next to the kitchen, with a spotlight on us and the thermostat as dinner conversation. The owner felt sorry for us and moved us to another table without us complaining. Good thing he moved us cause that was the last human contact we had for the next 10 minutes!! The menu to me felt like lunch fare and not a weekend evening dinner. We had the fish tacos to start, chop salad, brisket, mushrooms and cornbread. Tacos - were great. best thing in the meal Chop Salad - I ate this sans bacon. Normally chop salad is chocked full of things like tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, blue cheese, egg, greens, etc. There were four ingredients in this one and I had eliminated one. The only saving grace was the green goddess dressing was delish. Brisket - Mr. Man had the brisket. A little peeved that the waitress didn't blink an eye when he ordered the sandwich and than just brought him the meal since they don't serve it at dinner. Even more peeved that she forgot his gumbo the rest of the night. Mr. Man said the brisket was dry. For someone that always eats animals and rarely complains about the questionable things I have seen him eat, I would take his opinion on this seriously. Mushrooms - I love me some mushrooms. I could probably eat a whole meal of mushrooms. Too bad these are soaked in bourbon and left to die on a plate. Ew. Cornbread - Light fluffy cornbread that is a little gritty can make my day. Wrong. Dense. No grit. So after eating a lame salad for dinner I was pumped to have a root beer float to finish off the meal. Until the waitress appeared and up ended a shot of whiskey into the glass. I understand what they are going for but maybe ask the person first before you ruin their dessert. I am not a whiskey drinker. If I was ok. But now you really made it a bad meal. I understand they are trying something out and that the crowds will flock to them for a little bit but with service and food like that there will just be another empty storefront on Randolph in a year's time. Walk further east and find better treats for yourself.

Must say some of the best ribs I've ever had. And I've eaten a lot of ribs and made my fair share. Service great. Gaslight anthem playing in background and Allagash on tap=slice of heaven.

Great food, great waitresses and I love that they are open late nights. I've never had a problem with my food taking too long or a wait to get a table. I come back to this place a lot and can't wait to try the Hyde Park location.

When this place fist opened, I was pumped. Mostly because I sing this song thing about pork chops sometimes, and the name of this restaurant just spoke to me. Then I saw a special about it on one local Chicago program. They said the food was great, the atmosphere playful, and the "Community dining tables" were a great experience. Well, I don't know about you, but as soon as they mentioned the big community tables, the boyfriend and I decided we'd not be showing up here. TOO many places have the community tables, and they're lame. We were looking for a new place though this Sunday, and thought we'd give Pork Chop a try- thinking it would be empty and we wouldn't have to be elbow to elbow with other diners. AMBIANCE- We arrived, and it was not too crowded. And the interior is very playful. All the huge saws hanging, the taxidermy on the walls, the woodsy wallpaper. And only a SINGLE group dining table. Huh?? That's right, one group dining table, adjacent to the glass wall revealing the kitchen. Otherwise it was tables and booths- all easily arrangeable if you're coming on a date, double-date, or with a group. Perfect! We were totally given the wrong impression by the show that highlighted the place. Each table comes with a roll of paper towels, a jar of silverware, and salt & pepper. so it's low key and casual. Bathrooms leave much to be desired, but the music is edgy and good. SERVICE- It's a small place, it's a Sunday at 3:30pm. I'd say there were about 7 tables of people there. 6 inside, and 1 dining outside on the sidewalk chairs. There was 1 waitress, and 1 cook in the kitchen. The waitress was very busy manning the bar, taking orders, doing refills and bringing out and submitting orders. Te cook was just as busy in the kitchen. This actually made for a very slow dining experience. And people who came in after us got their food first, left WAY before we were even half dine with our meal. We finished our beers waiting for our appetizer, and waited about 10 minutes before anyone came to ask if we wanted another round. At least if people are waiting, keep them drinking. FOOD- I'm not positive what took so long to arrive: The sausage pops, the mac & cheese bowl, or the brisket and fries. :-( The sausage pops are absolutely delicious, and come 'standing up' to your table. These are fun, and a neat way to start your meal here. I highly recommend them. The mac & cheese entree, you can choose a meat that they mix with it. I got the pulled pork. While the pulled pork was quite good, the mac & cheese was creamy but a bit too mild and not much taste. The brisket was nice, with the sauce having a bit of a kick to it. My boyfriend's scalp was getting a bit warm halfway through. (Hey, heat effects different people different way. :-D ha ha) And he loved the fries. They come with the skins partially on, and he loves that. We were both pleased that our basic brews were only $4, in the bottles. All in all, the food was alright. This is not a destination restaurant, and if we come back, we'll have to try the chicken, which seems to be what people think is best here. I figured with a restaurant named PorkChop, the pork would be amazing. We'll probably try it again when we're looking to have a casual bite to eat.

Meh, is a word that perfectly describes my experience at Porkchop. We tried fried pickles for appetizer and those were lame, they were covered in corn meal or something and it just did not taste very good. Then we tried their sauteed mushrooms which did not have very much flavor at all. For the main meal, I got a veggie burger. Except when they took it out they forgot to put the tomato, onion, and lettuce on it (wtf? lol) how can you forget that? So that was strange. I got it with sweet potato fries instead of regular and those were pretty meh as well, they were soft and kinda mushy and not very flavorful. Also, Three Rabbits beer sucks, Don't get it. At least the prices aren't high though.

I have dined at Porkchop before, but his time I was on a triple date (so there were six of us total). We booked our reservation using gdine.com . This allowed us to split the tab before we arrived at the restaurant. Three of the individuals had never heard of Porchop, but they were extremely pleased. We dined on a Sunday evening and although the place wasn't packed, because staff for short, there was a slight delay in our orders being taken. However, the server was wonderful and apologized for our extended wait. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles (YUM) and my partner had the Fried Chicken (there was nothing but bones left on the plate when he finished). Porkchop definitely did not disappoint and we will visit again.

Pork Chop has a bit of a different set up, feel as if your sitting on top of the person next to you at times. It is a smaller, dark place. Whiskey bar, so it was right up my alley. Drinks were good but, the specialty drinks were $10. One of them was whiskey and a sweet syrup (possibly just lemonade), nothing special and not worth the price. A bottle of water and a tray of ice cubes are brought to the table so you do not have to worry about running out of water, real nice touch. The food is outstanding. The grilled corn appetizer had a real good hot off the grill flavor. Topped with a chipotle sauce and grated parmesan cheese. For dinner, I tried the ribs, which quite possibly could be the best ribs I have ever had. So tender that the meat fell off the bone with such good flavor. Served over fresh fries and a side of coleslaw. The pork chop was also real good. Was tender, juicy, and cooked perfectly. Served with a potato side, that was the best side I ate all night. There was an redish apple sauce on the plate as well but, I did not really give it a try. For dessert I had a few bites of the peach cobbler. It was not good, stay away from that. The service was a bit slower but, the waitress was nice and kept coming to the table to check up on us. I would recommend Pork Chop and advise to order the ribs!

Don't even want to give them one star. Terrible service, terrible food! Enough said! I have never in my life experienced such horrible service. The waitresses acted like we were doing them a favor by having drinks there. A friend innocently spilled his beer and they acted like he was the devil, did it on purpose to spite them, and refused to replace it. He even asked very kindly if they'd replace it with their cheapest beer. And on top of that when he spilled it, they didn't even care to help us clean it up. I can only imagine this is what it felt like to be a minority in certain parts of the country before the Civil Rights movement. Over priced garbage! I can't believe this even exists in Chicago on Randolph nonetheless. I give them less than a year.

Went here on a hot Saturday evening. I don't think their AC was working cause it was uncomfortably hot in there. Also the decor was really dark and not much light gets in there. Ordered the fried pickles...don't order this! It is not good. The batter tasted like a gritty rock. The fried chicken was decent, but not great. The pan seared catfish was sooo salty. Usually I like salt, but I couldn't even handle this. All in all, ok place. I'm sure some of the other dishes are better, but i don't need to come back. Good think I had a restaurant.com coupon!

If you're looking for great BBQ, this is not your place. My test of a BBQ place is the pulled pork. At Porkchop, the PP had zero smoke flavor, and was doused in sauce making it sloppy. I told our server I liked bourbon, especially rye, and he recommended a bourbon from Evanston. I'm no expert, but I know most good bourbons come from Kentucky. He assured me that this was a gem. Well it wasn't. It tasted like rubbing alcohol. And for $7.50 for a shot-size glass, not worth the price. The butcher-theme decor is a bit disturbing as well. There are huge saws, knives and other butcher tools hanging all over the restaurant. I get the theme, but wasn't into it. To be fair, my girlfriend ordered the Mac and cheese and thought it was pretty good. With so many great BBQ places in the city, we won't be back to Porkchop.

Basically the food is top notch. Service hit and miss. My DH and I went on a Thursday night. Place was pretty busy. I drink wine not whiskey. Apparently not the preferred customer setting the tone for the evenings service. When I asked what kind of wine, she answered red and white, this turned into twenty questions about type, brand etc. Waitress apparently though we were too high maintenance, but we are not the boonies, it is the west loop, so I expect a bit more than that. We both ordered ribs which I have got to say were some of the best ribs we have had in Chicago, I would order for delivery from this restaurant again so I can sit at home and drink a nice bottle of wine with my ribs. As we sat against the west wall where the lights were either turned off or the bulbs burned out, I watched the waitress shower attention on two other tables of young hip, happening, people. We were the "date night" table she was stuck with; a wine drinker and a sober guy with grey hair. She basically ignored us the entire night. She never touched base to see how our meal was, asked me if I wanted a second glass of wine, as she was putting the check down, shocked that I said yes. My recommendation, order from them for pickup or delivery, but skip their wait staff.

The food is bland and crappy. We were recommended the Fried Chicken. It was tasteless and the side dishes were stone cold. The managers reaction was poor. Overall the service was poor too. We ordered a salad to start. Even though the Fried Chicken took 20 minutes to make, and that we reminded the waitress, it came with the entree. Avoid this one!

A cool casual BBQ place in the West Loop. My husband and I came here with another couple for dinner and it sounded like everyone really enjoyed it. Be forewarned wine and vodka drinkers-- you won't find any of that on their cocktail menu! They have a huge beer selection and a wide variety of whiskeys that can be ordered straight up or in a craft cocktail. I'm not usually a Jack fan, but I did try the Lynchburg Lemonade and actually enjoyed it enough to order a second one. We started with two mac and cheeses-- they came in a fairly small bowl and you can order them with different meats so we got one with chicken and one with bacon. The guys got the Texas Chili and while they both really liked it, I'd also add that neither thought it was "Texas-style" as it was in a thinner broth and included beans. The menu isn't huge, but each of us ended up with a different entree-- a grilled pork chop, bbq ribs, a burger, and fried chicken and we all unanimously agreed that the food was great and the prices were very reasonable. Especially reasonable for a new place in the West Loop. Will definitely be back when we're looking for BBQ!

Since the name Wishbone is already taken in Chicago's restaurant scene, I guess they had to name the place Porkchop. That said, the ribs and pulled pork are pretty good, but not 5-star rave-worthy. At porkchop, The Chicken is the star. The two huge fried chicken breasts, with the waffles and chipotle syrup, was outstanding. My wife, usually a light eater, wouldn't share her chicken, saying it was the best she'd ever had. I had a slab of chipotle ribs, which were good, but when she went to the restroom, I managed to snag a piece of the chicken - wonderful! Next time I'm ordering the fried chicken and waffles, or possibly the fried porkchop.

I'm with everyone else..come on Yelp get the zero star rating! A few friends and I went to check out this 'hip' new restaurant the other night. We thought we'd treat ourselves, however that was not the case. Ummmm excuse me? Can I get some food to go with my SALT!!? Everything was so salty we could barely eat it. Instead of PorkChop, maybe they could call it SaltBlock. I would not recommend wasting your money at this place, unless you want good drinks..which I have to say aren't really that great, but they wash down the salt. I also read below that they kept a pig out in the heatwave to draw attention to their restaurant? Come on jackass, get with the program.

I visited Porkchop before a concert. We booked our reservation using gdine.com which turned out to be a wonderful deal. The gDine promotion allowed my husband to order an appetizer and entree and I ordered an entree an dessert. We also had two creative and delicious apple pie cocktails. We started with the chicken wing appetizers. The wings were smoked and the smoked flavor really came through. Frying them after smoking was a really nice way to crisp up the skin. The portion was huge. More than enough for us to share and have a couple of wings left over. For entrees we both had catfish. My husband choose fried and I choose grilled. The fried catfish was nice and well seasoned, but the grilled was under seasoned. The old bay butter was more buttery than old bay seasoned and the fish was lacking salt. The dessert, carrot cake, also left a lot to be desired. The carrot cake appeared to be a grocery store type cake, the frosting was thick and was served very cold so the case felt dense. Porkchop really fell flat on the dessert. Service was okay. Our server seemed to lack knowledge of some of the menu items and she also seemed uninterested. Porkchop is a good deal, pretty good food and close to my job, so I will most likely return.

This has been one of the WORST restaurants I've been to in a while. I went here with a large group for my birthday and the server was very rude and inattentive. She often hung out at the bar while we were at the restaurant, and never checked up on us while we were there. One of my friends waited over a 1/2 hour after everyone had gotten their food, and the waitress never apologize nor checked up on her order. I had to call a manager to fix the situation. The food is extremely bland and not seasoned well at all. I will NEVER return to this place.

My friend and I still wanted to check out Porkchop despite its not-so-stellar yelp reviews. I think it probably says something that this place was not packed nor did it have people waiting for a table at 8 pm on a Friday night. The ambiance is pretty cool. The tables are not on top of each other. We were given a carafe of water and a little tub of ice. The tub of ice was a bit unnecessary, as it was taking up more of the little tabletop real estate we had to begin with. There was also a permanent paper towel fixture on the table. The service was kind of lacking too. I had an empty beer can sitting next to me for the whole meal and I kept edging it over, so that our waitress would grab it, but she did not. Little things like that matter to me -- especially when the tables are so small! My friend ordered the tomato bisque, which was pretty runny considering it was supposed to be a bisque. I got a small house salad which was fair in taste and size. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles and I ordered the fried chicken entree. The chicken was just mediocre; it definitely lacked flavor and salt. I thought the mac and cheese (we got it plain) was great! Unfortunately, the mac and cheese won't be enough to make me return to Porkchop.

I wanted to love Porkchop, I really did. That being said, the only 2 good things at this restaurant were the service and the ribs, hence the two stars. I wish I could just give 1.5. I made reservations for 8pm on a Saturday on open table and we were sat immediately after checking in- all tables were full so I was expecting great things...man, was I wrong. The Bad: 1) This place is LOUD. You literally have to yell at whoever is in your party. Not good if you want to talk and catch up with friends. The music is blasting. Acoustics are terrible. 2) The floor is gross. I went to the ladies restroom and when I came out I literally had to peel my shoes off the ground, they were sticking! Kind of like a movie theater. Gross. 3) The fried pickles, hush puppies and sausage pops were terrible. The hush puppies and fried pickles were really grainy. Not worth the money to even try them. Worse than carnival food. 4) Half of the people in my party ordered beer (different kinds) and they all came to the table warm! Gross. 5) If you order soda, BEWARE- refills are NOT free- they are 2 bucks but they just keep refilling without asking. 6) Pulled chicken sandwich (ordered by 2 people in my party) had way too much sauce. We asked for it on the side and the people in the kitchen doused it on anyways. Too irritated to send it back. 7) Fish Tacos and pulled pork tacos- just OKAY- nothing to write home about and would not order again. 8) Paper towels are on a pole in the middle of the table. Everyone has to keep reaching over everything to get some. The Good: 1) Great service, not the waitress's fault the food wasn't great and beer was warm. She did try her best to make us happy. 2) Food came out very quickly. 3) Appetizers- Elotes and Fried Ribs were good. Entrees- Salmon Burger, Blackened Chicken were good and the RIBS were great. Good banana bread pudding for dessert. 3) Ambiance- Loved the saws hanging and the mason jar lights. For being on Randolph, they should step it up a bit. We will not be back.

the food portion is large...the cost is good...alcohol is strong...the entree could use some flavoring...for starter, i had corn and hot wings...the hot wings were great but the corn were too dry...then i had the porkchop and fried chicken...the portion was large, juicy and tender, but missing flavor...the worst part was finding a cab since the place is located on a bad pocket.

This place is hidden on Randolph just West of Halsted and is worth checking out. We ate here for lunch last week and man was it tasty. I started out with a bowl of Chili packed with great flavor. The fried chicken is super good and so was the mac n cheese. Be careful if you're going back to work after lunch, I was definitely in a food coma after eating here. But I can't wait to go back. Oh yea, dig the decor, very rustic and cool

I have not yet had the pleasure of eating at the restaurant, however I just tried their food truck! Not only was the guy working awesome and super nice, but the food was phenomenal! I had a BBQ beef brisket slider and it was a little bit of heaven in my mouth! My friend got the pork and chicken sliders too...but beef brisket is where it's at!

Went for date night last evening and Pork Chop well exceeded our expectations!! The atmosphere was edgy and unique, and the service was great too. The mason jar filled with forks and knives was cute and loved the paper towels on each table. We sure needed them. I usually find that edgy & hip=attitude. Not the case here! We started with the pork belly sliders...YUM! I can see myself craving these again in the near future...went on to the tomato salad.. simple but good. Then we got the pork chop with red smashed potatoes and applesauce. Delicious! We also ordered the Elotes (corn on the cob) which was messy but had just the right amount of aioli (not too much)- and we finished the meal with the root beer float with a shot of Makers Mark. what a fun concept! There wasn't a single component of our meal I didn't like. If I *had* to think of anything bad it would only be that the beer wasn't very chilled and the elotes could have used juuuust a pinch of salt (but there was salt on the table so I did it myself). We will definitely be going back here. After reading some mediocre reviews I was a little worried but this place is definitely worth a shot to see if you like it for yourself.

Great concept. Simple and comfortable. I've gotten the chicken that last few times and really liked it. If whiskey is your thing this place is a must stop. Hugh selection and a small but friendly bar. Everyone in our group is always satisfied.

I'm reading some reviews. I'm glad I didn't know about the pig kept in a cage!!? OK, let me tell you what me,and my fiancee ordered. I had a hamburger topped with the pulled pork. My fiancee ordered the tomato bisque, and the side of red skinned potatoes....that's what we ordered. Not complicated... We waited for 30 minutes for a burger, potatoes, and some soup!!! After 30 minutes is when the watress remembered that we were there and told us that the food would be out soon...AFTER 30 MINUTES!!!.... FOR A BURGER AND SOME SOUP!!!!..... My fellow Americans...after waiting for 40 MUNITES!!!... WE LEFT THE BUILDING!! For 40 minutes I waited for a burger...some potatoes...and some soup. NONE of those items came to my table. We drank some water... while we waited for the promise. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THAT RESTAURANT AGAIN IN THIS LIFE!! I couldn't critique the food because IT NEVER CAME!!! A burger....some potatoes...and some soup. If you can't handle THAT!!?? What the hell are you in the restaurant business for!!!??? YOU can go back...but that was my first...and last time going to Pork Chop. The ONLY reason that they get one star from me is because Yelp says you have to. Otherwise they'd get NO stars from me!!

Based on first impressions, we had really high hopes for Porkchop - cool decor, exciting menu and a good beer list. Unfortunately, the service and the food were disappointing. Service was disorganized and abrupt. We ordered the fried chicken, sweet potato fries and tomato soup. The fried chicken was completely tasteless (add some salt and pepper to your dredge!), the soup was bland and the fries were undercooked and hard. Unless we hear that the experience improves, we won't be back. :(

I've got some pretty mixed feelings about my visit to Porkchop. Parts were good, others not so much. So let's go in order, shall we? Drinks: This is a whiskey place. I get that. You have a zillion kinds of whiskey, about 15 cocktail specialties, and an ok looking beer list. But I'd gone out for wine before coming here and I wanted to stick with that. I was told, yeah, we have Merlot, Cabernet... so I guess they just have a house bottle of each. Again, I get your thing is whiskey, but a couple wine options might not kill you. Food: Food varied. We had fried pickles and wings as apps. The pickles were nicely fried, but I like a pretty strong pickle taste and I thought these were a little bland. The wings were good sized and had a very tasty sauce on it. Very smoky - if that's not your thing, be warned. For entrees we had the grilled pork chop and the fried chicken. The chop was well cooked and served with a lovely applesauce (think very heavily seasoned - traditional cinnamon, but also some clove and maybe something else, and not too sweet). The fried chicken.. well. It was fried. But heaven help me, it needed salt! It arrived with this beautiful golden crispy crust and I couldn't wait to dig in. And then - bland. Fortunately a good sprinkling of salt remedied it, but it was pretty disappointing. Service: Ok, it was kind of a disaster. Our waiter seemed pretty frantic. I don't know if that's just his normal operating speed, or maybe he had too many tabled (though it didn't seem that busy). He took two drinks away from us that we weren't finished with. Also, we had used a Groupon and while they gave us a bill with the amount taken out, when they split the check on our credit cards, it ended up being for the full amount. So we had to get that fixed. They were super gracious about it, and gave us a free drink for our troubles. Also, I would be remiss not to mention the waitress who looked like she was going to go to her second job as a dominatrix after she worked her shift. I'm all for personal style, but I really don't need to see that much of anyone's body while I'm eating. Bathrooms: No, I don't normally review bathrooms. But these beg for it. There are three individual toilet rooms (for lack of a better description) and they have a little sink in them as well. But there's no mirror or paper towels - there's a large sink with soap and paper towels (and mirror for primping) outside in the hallway. Interesting concept, but you know no one is using those sinks. Seems a little germy. So, would I go back? Maybe. But I don't know that I'd put a lot of effort in to making it happen.

Went for lunch with work colleagues today. The food is amazing. We had the Elotes and Fried Pickle appetizers and both were delicious. As entrees we had the BBQ chicken salad, grilled porkchop and beef brisket plate. The BBQ Chicken salad was probably as good as any salad could be. But the brisket and porkchop were both so good. I will definitely go back here. The service was a little slow. The appetizers came out pretty quickly, but we waited a while for the entrees. I guess make sure they know if you are crunched for time.
