On the real.... It's like Jimmy Johns for salad. Freaky fast!! But they have a lot of stuff too. Calzones, pizza, etc. I got a chicken Caesar salad, very tasty, but a bit too many croutons! Good food at a decent price.

I've had Pockets a few times and I must say I am hooked. My favorite thing on the menu is the BBQ Calzone. It's so tasty and the ranch sauce is perfect. Recently I tried the southwest pocket. It was basically a wheat type of bread stuffed with southwest ingredients. I enjoyed it. However, the calzones are my favorite.

I like to consider myself as a pizza connoisseur because I often visit pizza parlors and frequent restaurants that offer pizzas. Because of this, I often find myself comparing pizzas from various restaurants and here at Pockets, you can never underestimate their offering. This place definitely surprised me. The thin whole-wheat crust was baked perfectly - neither dry nor brittle and definitely rolled and baked to perfection. The ingredients were fresh and I can taste the explosion of flavors in every bite. It also had the right amount of cheese. Most of all, it is not difficult to eat. Basically, I was left satisfied after my feast. I'd really like to congratulate the guys running this place for the great pizza they have. Sadly, I am giving them 4 stars because the pizza choices they have are limited to 5 (carnivore, supreme, white, chicken and spicy southwest).

I just don't get the fascination with this place. Years ago my old job would order Pockets for our team, and the greasy Calzones would make my stomach turn. I swore off Pockets. Fast forward to present day. Several people in my office love this place, and I've successfully avoided it... until we ordered it for a team luncheon. At least this time I was able to pick what I wanted, and I was delighted to see there were healthier things than calzones on the menu. So I ordered a regular pocket and added turkey. Starving and excited to dig in, my excitement quickly dissipated when there were TEN tiny baby cubes of turkey in my pocket. TEN. Yes, I counted. They also cheated my VP out of his chicken. Poultry cheapskates! The salad portion of my pocket was totally meh. It tasted fine, but I ended up just picking at it because it didn't look fresh. It almost looked... waxy? Fake? The highlight of the meal was the dipsticks, but only because I just like saying the word dipstick. DIPSTICK. The marinara sauce that came with them was super bland as well. So, my hatred of Pockets continues. DIPSTICK.

Dude... this place is the bomb!!! The food here is without a doubt very delicious. In fact, I made sure to write a review just to thank them for the good food we had. Moreover, to accompany the good food they also have showed great service. Wow! I had never experienced getting good food and good service at the same time. Usually, it is either good food and bad service or bad food and good service. Seriously, the combination took my breath away. I haven't found a fast food this good for several months and I frequently eat out. I'd surely come back to this location and treat myself to one or two of their calzones. Oh! I don't want to forget their salads. I gotta try them next time.

I love the Pockets. The salads with their complete chop-ness makes me so happy that i didn't have to spend half my lunch hour just sawing away at my food until I don't have to shove an entire chunk of greens in my mouth. I love the BYO and I love the wee warm hunk of bread that accompanies the salad. I do, however, hate it when they forget my wee warm chunk of bread or my dressing, which they do fairly frequently. It pays to check your bag before you leave. That said, I'm a fan of ordering online and picking up. Makes the whole process so much quicker and the stores are usually crazy crowded or the workers dangerously slow, when you wait to order in-store. And, lastly, whomever mentioned that the bread is best dipped in the dressing, it's true. It's not awesome plain, but if I save it til the end and dip it in the yummy sesame dressing, it's like dessert.

Okay, I really like Pockets, but I'm not all that into the bread that they have... it's got a funny flavor to it when it's plain (why I knocked off some stars here), but in dressing... MMMMM-MMMMM-GOOD! I typically get the southwest pocket and really just love it. The ingredients are fresh and full of flavor (roasted peppers and corn). I have to say that there's another review that talks about it being all chopped up and it is... which took some getting used to, but I really came to like it. Calzones, well they are okay... but again, because I'm not the greatest fan of their bread, I'd say to make sure you've got some good dressing to dip in and then it rocks. What I really like the most about pockets is that I can order online and pick it up, and schedule it for when it's convenient for me. It's awesome! They have delivery too, but I figure I can handle the three block walk over there to get it.

Just wow! I love this place! I went one time with a couple of friends not knowing what I should expect from them, but the entire experience and food were awesome. The staff who prepared everything for us was very friendly and entertaining. The service was fast and we didn't have to wait long just to get our food. Though there were many people, the place does not feel crowded at all! I admit the place is far from perfect but the fact that this restaurant offers good food with good customer service makes it wonderful. Moreover, it is good to know that this restaurant values their customers by giving them food made from fresh ingredients every day.

The first time I stopped by Pockets, I was lured in with the "All Natural Fast Food". Emphasis on the Fast Food. Yet my order of a calzone took nearly 20 minutes, and that ticked me off immensely. The calzone was very filling though, but not too spectacular. I decided to give them a second try, and went in for a bowl of chicken chili. This indeed was fast. Wish the chili was spicier, but for $4 I got a hearty bowl and some bread to fill my body on a frigid chicago day. Tip: Order online. It looks as though many orders come from pick-up orders, which they do well.

Soooo let me just start off by saying this: if you boast about having the following which is a direct quote from your WEBSITE..... "OUR FAMOUS DRESSINGS Enjoy our Homemade dressings at your home or office" Actually have them be homemade. I have celiac so I needed to know what dressings were gluten free. Called was told they had no idea. Ended up calling a bunch of pockets and finally got to someone in catering. Who read me the labels. These dressings are ALL from Kraft, wishbone, hidden valley ETC. They did say you mix sour cream and milk into the ranch packets. Just so you fine folks know that does not qualify as home made. Nor does cracking open the top of a bottle of pre packed mass produced dressing = home made. I don't really care if its manufactured or not. Be HONEST. don't misrepresent yourselves. It's kinda smarmy. No, it's really smarmy.

The only thing you need to know about Pockets is that the only thing you should get is a salad. They make some very good and inventive salads that are nicely sized and even come with a side of the pocket bread. So you can just order a pocket and get less for more money, or get the salad and pocket bread and have much more for less.

If you don't like pockets then you have nobody to blame but yourself. There are certain do's and don'ts at Pockets that everyone must abide by. Here is my list of do's and don'ts. Do: -BBC Calzone -Tuna Pocket -Create Your Own Pocket -Homemade Ranch -Chicken Chili -Hot Sauce -Any salad -Order Online or Look for a Groupon Don't: -Most Calzones, other than BBC -Add meat to any of your pockets or salads -Get any dressing other than their ranch -Expected to get anything other than finely chopped ingredients. -Expect a Calzone to be ready right away Today was my first time at this location and I was surprised by how clean and nice the employees were. They are always on Groupon now, so I assume that they are hurting for business. The manager was really friendly when taking my order and you could tell the staff was gearing up for the lunch rush. They had fresh pockets in the oven and have a nice system for online orders. There really isn't anything not to love about Pockets if you know what to order. The food is fresh and tasty!

I have been ordering from Pockets for about 10 years. I first learned about them when I worked nights and the other ladies in my department would order from there. I can say with certainty tha the quality of the food has gone down. I try not to get fancy and generally get a calzone or a salad. Pockets used to mean fresh, delicious, "healthy" (but who are we kidding, putting a calzone in wheat crust does not make it healthy), etc...today I ordered a southwest salad with chicken. Let me start off by saying the chicken was so salty, I picked most of it off, fearing it would send my blood pressure sky high and harm my unborn child. I mean I'm pregnant and craving salty things and this was too damn salty! Second, I'm sure that chicken came out of somebody's bag...kind of the opposite of "fresh". In addition to that, I ordered and paid for extra dressing, didn't get it! So now I have a salty, dry salad...yum? Oh, and my bread from the Shire...thanks Frodo! I don't know what this new formula is...but I wish they would go back to the old way they did things, when the food was delicious and the service was great.

I stumbled upon this place just by accident and I am glad that I did. They have good and reasonably priced food. It was worth a try. The place may appear ordinary but don't let this dictate your impression about the restaurant. For a vegetarian oriented restaurant, the food here is palatable, the ingredients are crisp and the available choices are quite good. Such a shame that the staffs aren't too friendly and the service is a little bit crappy. Still, I left the place satisfied and wanting to go back.

The calzones are pretty good.... if they get your order right. I swear the guy working the counter must not understand English. The last 5 times I've been in my order has been incorrect 3 times. To make things worse, most of the time I just order from the pre-made section. How hard is it to correctly grab a labeled box. I only go to Pockets when I'm looking to switch it up from the endless sandwich food options or Chipotle's line is too long. Also for people that think Pockets is "healthy", you can't eat calzones and be healthy. Just FYI. pocketsonline.com/page.p…

Pockets is decent, but I can't say I will be rushing to come back any time soon. I ordered a pocket with chicken and bacon and was very disappointed in the lack of meat included (especially since it's an extra charge). I didn't realize I was paying $1.20 extra for bacon bits and another $1.20 for the smallest pieces of chicken imaginable. I also was disappointed in the taste of the bread for the "pocket." If I do come back, I will order the salad next time and I won't be paying extra for meat. I will give them kudos for the great easy online ordering feature they have. I wish other places woud do the same.

I love pockets. Like really love them but this location is terrible. I ordered a full pocket and they gave me what looked like a half pocket but it was not even that. It was tiny and there were things in my pocket that I didn't even order. After walking in the freezing Chicago weather from my office I was really disappointed when I saw it. Maybe it is because I ordered online I don't know. I'm just going to stick to the Logan square location it's amazing.

I'm not a huge fan of the pockets, but absolutely love their calzones. I enjoy this combination: Southwest Calzone with Chipotle Ranch.

I love Pockets!!! I have never been disappointed. I always order online, so its ready when I get there. I usually Build my own salad or have ordered the Greek Salad in the past. I like the salads because you get my "stuff" and then the side of bread. I feel the pockets ya get jipped and just a lot of bread. Its all up to your taste though. I prefer more greens and veggies than bread. Their ranch dressing is unreal! Also try the breadsticks with the maranara dipping sauce. calzones are pretty bomb too!!

Someone contacted me from this company on here and offered a Southwest Pocket on them, but I said they didn't need to do that and I would be in another day to try one. Well, I went back in the other day, ordered one (they made it to order, so I'm not sure why it was "out" last time), and it was very good. I don't know if I'm too big on how they just put it in their little cardboard to-go boxes, but it was a nice little box where they packed the pocket, napkins, and plasticware. They made it very quickly, and I was in and out in probably 5 minutes tops. I upgraded their stars because their food is really good, and their customer service for contacting me on here, I really like when a company listens to it's customers and actually responds to them. They also have a really neat option I forgot to mention. You can log onto their site and actually set your order up, so it will be ready for you when you come in. I don't know about doing that if you're just stopping by, but if you're picking up lunch for the office, it's a great option so you don't have to stand around waiting.

I've loved pockets for years now and still do. This location is pretty good in terms of service. My orders are always on time from online orders. There were some problems with quantity of meat but every time I wrote a note about it, they took care of it.

I've been eating Pockets since I was in college. Healthy fast food- gotta love it! I usually stick with the regular pocket or the Southwestern salad pocket (with salsa dressing). All locations are good, but I seem to frequent this location more than the others. The staff is friendly, the lines move fast, and most importantly they always gets my order just right. I highly recommend making your order online if you're not planning on eating there because you can just skip the long line!

I enjoy pockets, but I picked up the original pocket from here the other day and something just didn't taste right. I think I'll be sticking with the other pocket locations from now on.

Have been to several Pockets in past which have generally been good, and if a little bland, at least fresh. Nominally Pockets is maybe 3 stars, but this location served catfood-like tuna and disgusting little cubes of extremely mealy tomatoes. I would definitely stay away from this location in the future.

Everyone talks about this place and I finally decided to give it a try. I tried a Southwest Pocket with chicken and was blown away. Never had anything like it....it was huge and healthy! I am going back again and trying a calzone. Now I know why there are so many locations.

I love Pockets!! It is just down the street from my office, so I visit it often. I've only had pockets here, but if you want a salad, I would recommend getting a pocket because that is basically what it is. A full pocket is HUGE and there is a ton of salad spilling out. The dressing is on the side so you can control how much you want to put on. Additionally, you can get a full order or half order and they have a bunch of combo meals to pick from. If you're watching your figure, you can always check out there website for nutritional information. Today I made my own pocket and also got the chicken gumbo. The soup was pretty good but a little greasy. It was also very hot (temperature wise). They do a good job packaging it so it doesn't spill and your soup doesn't get cold.

Pockets is one of Chicago's best fast foodish restaurants. When I moved here and lived far away from one not knowing of its existence, I didn't know what I was missing in a wasteland with McDonald's and Subways. Once I had Pockets, I was hooked on healthy, good tasting fast food. Though I've never patronized this location during its prime lunch rush hours, I go there when I'm on my way home to the West Loop. The staff there is good even when it gets late. My favorites at Pockets include Tuna and Turkey Spinach Pockets. Since I'm like every other girl hating on carbs and breads and still desiring bread like nobody's business, I love their soft, wheaty bread which perfectly compliments the veggies, meat, and salad dressing. They have a good selection of fat free and low fat dressings for those whose waistlines matter to them. I also like their calzones. They're good, but not quite up to my standard for one (less bread, more filling). I'm so glad that there's a Pockets in a sea of otherwise bland and similar fast food.

great, simple, cheap lunch! and for a pretty reasonable price, you can order it online and they'll deliver it to your office.

Do not eat here. The staff is always surly and rude, the food is mediocre and low quality, the cleanliness is questionable, and their bicycle delivery staff ignore the law and endanger pedestrians frequently. Smile, stop serving pig slop, wipe down and mop your restaurant, and get your dangerous bicycle delivery psychos some brains and courtesy.

Just discovered you can order online for this place. Still the same great salads at a decent price, it's a quick and health lunch spot if you work around here.

Simply. Mediocre. I had a BYO salad-- the salad was nothing special, the pocket was warm and tasty but everything else was pretty tasteless. The people working there were pleasant enough but I probably will not go back.

I had heard a bit about this place and wanted to give it a shot. I was feeling frisky at work so I decided to stroll on over to pockets and take on their enormous made to order pita-style sandwiches. I ordered the popeye pocket and felt it was very average. The flavor wasn't really all there and i'm not sure why. They said it came with bacon and apparently their definition of bacon is small microscopic pieces of meat so small you're not even sure they are there. Anyway, the strangest thing about my lunch was that I ended up with what felt like 10 pounds of food stuffed into a pocket the size of my hand. There was so much stuffed in that it literally falls out all over into the container it comes in. Needless to say I didn't eat my entire lunch and threw half of it away. It's not that it tasted bad, it was just too much food. I felt bad for throwing so much away. With all the options available for lunch, it's clear why pockets doesn't have a line. There are better places to spend your money.

This is the closest thing to fast food that I choose to eat. Pockets is fast, heatlhy, and tastes good! My favorite pocket is the southwestern chicken salad. It's a great lunch spot for those of you who work near it and also a great place to pick up from or order in for dinner.

I discovered pockets right after I started my new job last year, and am now a complete addict! I usually order from this location and almost always order online. They almost always deliver in a 1/2 hour, unless i order right at noon. Every time I have called to add someone's order on, they are accomodating and always get it right. The best part - their customer service is amazing. I called once to let them know that my "pocket" was accidentally delivered as a salad, and they rushed a new one over to me, told me to keep the old one and give it away to someone else in my office, and THEN sent an apology with a coupon for $$ off my next order via email! Wonderful!

If you like your salad "chopped" you are going to love you some Pockets. For some reason, the salad/pocket contents always look like they came out of a wood chipper. I personally like my veggies with some girth - I like to stab them whole. But this is my own personal issue with the "chopped salad" (similar to my issue with pizza "party slices" It's a PIE! Cut it like you know that) The flavors here are tasty and I definitely like how you can make your own (Preesh!). I like the salads vs. the signature "Pocket" because I can't handle all that bread. A half slice-o-pocket does me good. My favorite salad is the Southwestern with salsa. Tastes like a big ol' taco-less taco salad. Mmmm. Pockets is a decent Loop Lunch choice. Not my fave, but I will stop by to empty my pockets here from time to time (OK so that was lame and a total lie since I'm a Debit Card Girl).

I had a tuna pocket. Hmm... they give you this huge pockets with tons of filling which was the tuna mixed with lettuce mushrooms and other veggies (no mayo). I was hugely disappointed. I hated the pocket bread. I think its an acquired taste. And I probably ordered the wrong thing. If you're in the mood for tuna stay away from this pocket. It will only disappoint you. Maybe I'll go back to try a calzone. But how can those be considered healthy? Hmm... I had the light ranch too! I'm not feeling well. I'm going to stay away from the creamy dressings from now on.

This place gets 3 of it's stars for actually delivering our order BEFORE they said they would. The website has great online ordering features that made it easy for our office to order. We were able to organize our order by each person and find out exactly who owed what. And our names were on the bags when it arrived! The chicken chili is amazing. I could live on that stuff! Why the star deduction? My black pants were ever so lightly dusted in flour from the pocket bread. Boo hiss!

I cant understand why pockets has so many haters. I love this place. Im trying to make myself a wee bit healthier and this place makes me feel good, I mean you get a whole days worth of veggies in one huge bowl. I am dissapointed that they changed their brand (I think at least) of jalapeno peppers they have used in the past. The ones they use now have a funny flavor to them, the others ones were really pickly and i love me some pickles. Anywho, I love the bread too. But I like anything with carbs in it. I like the make your own salad because I load up on all the veggies and I seriously could eat this all day long. I think I will go get it now for later. My god, its only 2:00. I cant believe I have to work for three more hours.............damn. Update, So I went and got a salad here the other day and three hours later, I was dying with food poisoning. Im not saying for certain, it was the pockets, but it was all I ate that day and I was feeling pretty damn good before I ate the damn thing. The low fat ranch was maybe a little funke'. Beware of the low fat ranch, beware of the low fat ranch. Damn.

For a fast food joint I thought Pockets was an okay destination. The food is fresh but nothing really stands out to my but I did enjoy the turkey chili during the cold winter months.

I had a "pocket" and it was OK. It is basically a piece of fresh bread with a chopped salad inside. You pick the sauce that you would like on the side. It may have been better if they tossed the sauce in the salad. The salad itself had a variety of ingredients, but it was nothing special. Next time I will try a calzone and revise my rating.

I live just across the bridge over here and not much is open past 5 so Pockets gets points for that (open till 8). Also, online ordering that includes customization options rules b/c I like extra things like Jalapenos - BAM. Delivery only took a half an hour - no cold and wind for me which made it worth the 2.50 delivery fee + tip. Ok, so I racked up a few of the extras and that resulted in an 18$ meal but I really could've gotten away with just the massive Greek sandwich which was filled full and overflowing throughout the entire container which was a nice bonus. As per the recommendation I got the dippers, not too bad though a little plain. Chicken Chili rocked.

My roommate introduced me to Pockets a couple years ago one Saturday morning when we were in less than stellar condition. I was excited when I found this location, by my office and the one on Southport and Wellington, by my new apartment. I have had a salad, baked potatoe and a regular pocket. My favorite is Greek pocket with turkey or chicken. I also like making my own because they have good fresh ingredients. The salad is a nice alternative if you don't want to stuff yourself with the pocket bread because they still give you a little piece on the side. I have gone with co-workers and they are big fans of the calzones, even if it takes 20 mins to make. Bonus points to them because they have a punch card and you get a free item after you buy ten!

Pockets is so good. It is a salad in bread. Such a weird concept to me at first and now I don't understand why other places don't make this! I always go with the Southwest Pocket with chicken. I doubt there is anything healthy about it but it is damn good! (Add the ranch, too!) My friends had the potatoes and calzones and said they were good. I can't part with my beloved pocket though. BONUS:: Not only do they deliver but they send coupons and discounts which I love!

I think this rating is a bit harsh but since I had such high hopes for pockets it must be done. I hadn't been this disappointed since I found out the truth about Milli Vanilli. They should change the same from Pockets to Pocket Bread Falls Apart and You Get Food All Over Your Clothes, because that would be more accurate a description. If the first time you picket it up the filling falls out, it ceases to be a pocket. Second is the finely chopped salad, so after your pocket falls apart, you are forced to settle with a utensil, well if the lettuce is fine chopped it doesn't matter what angle and velocity the stabbing motion of the fork, it's not going to fly. Your better off with a spoon or better yet a funnel. Last dressing, too much of it and not that good. That may have been a major culprit of the sandwich/pocket falling apart in the first place, but I'm not going to point any fingers. So this establishment gets two stars, one for ample seating and a second for large selection of ingredients. Pockets, you could have been so awesome but if you were my pockets I would have dropped wallet on the way to 309 W. Lake. According to the website the bread has 480 calories and the tuna pocket has 580 calories. What kind of spacetuna are they using where tuna is only 100 calories? In a can of tuna itself there is 170. Something strange is afoot at Pockets.

You don't need deep pockets to eat here. I always thought this place was mom and pop food place. I passed by here many times during lunch going to other places because of long lines out the door, kind of wonder what's such a big deal here? Then one day I noticed it was pretty empty in there so I went in ordered spinach calzone. I haven't tried pockets or make to order salads here yet. I like that they give you big container ranch dressing with it, not a small ones like other restaurants. Then I sat down on their nice colored tables. I liked their tables, mahogany colored, makes me laugh little inside because I feel like I'm important like Ron Burgundy in Anchorman movie talking about how important he is and have many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.. haha Well I'm not nearly important as Ron Burgundy but I sat down, ate this huge spinach calzone on mahogany colored table. It makes me laugh and that movie comes to my mind every time. Anyways, I'm glad I had chance to come here, I guess its chain not mom and pop restaurant. I have to try pockets next time.

Love this place,I think they put narcotics in the food! It is an addiction!I adore the Popeye's pocket,no bacon, house dressing. The bread(they call it a pocket) is fresh from the oven and is still warm when you get your sandwich. Heaven! Also love the dippers-pieces of the bread dough twisted into little pieces, baked and served with ranch dressing mmmmmm.Calzone are a good choice, fresh ingredients(your choice) stuffed into the dough and baked to perfection. Give 'em a try.You will not leave hungry, these babies are HUGE!!!

DIPSTICK.

Boo hiss!

I enjoy pockets, but I picked up the original pocket from here the other day and something just didn't taste right. I think I'll be sticking with the other pocket locations from now on.

Also try the breadsticks with the maranara dipping sauce. calzones are pretty bomb too!!

great, simple, cheap lunch! and for a pretty reasonable price, you can order it online and they'll deliver it to your office.

Damn.

Simply.

  • Kristin C.

Wonderful!

This is the closest thing to fast food that I choose to eat. Pockets is fast, heatlhy, and tastes good! My favorite pocket is the southwestern chicken salad. It's a great lunch spot for those of you who work near it and also a great place to pick up from or order in for dinner.
