Patio Beef now takes PLASTIC! They have now earned a 5-star review!

I really like the set up inside this place. I went here to get the ol' lady some cheese fries on the way home and I was very impressed with the inside, the cleanliness, and the quick, friendly staff. Prices are competive, the food is good quality, they have parking in a bad parking neighborhood, and its lit up like a Christmas tree. Definitely a good hot dog day option.

Gyro. Plate. Full stop. Ok the fries are also amazing and the burgers are excellent. This place is amazing and what you see is what you get. Simple service. Simple food. But always served with a smile, hot and fresh. I have to walk by this place three or four times a day. The fact that I only eat here once every 10 or so days is a miracle.

A friend told me to come here and try there burgers, so I did. The burger tasted about average, the bun being a little stale. But the cheese fries on the side where my favorite part about the meal.

Nothing special. If you need a quick bite to eat and are in the neighborhood, it's fast, easy food. Burgers and hot dogs are standard. Milkshakes are OK.

Had the double cheeseburger with bacon. Really good, reminded me of a butter burger from Culver's back in Wisconsin. Would like to try some of the other food there before I can really have a final opinion though. Only complaint would be the cramped and awkward route to the counter

One of my favorite neighborhood hot dog joints. They know service, food, and are fast. Love the combo options and all the choices. On a nice day, sit outside and watch the hippies at Whole Foods and all the drama Edgewater can bring.

I've never ordered or eaten a loose meat sandwich before. After Patio Beef, I won't have to eat at all for about 3 days. They take a bun, stuff it with loose beef, and then submerge the entire meal in beef 'juice.' The sandwhich was brutal, cheap, and fast. Excellent and friendly service.

Their Italian SAUSAGE is great. The Italian beef is pretty good. I wish that they would deliver. That's my only real complaint, that they don't deliver.

The best thing about this place is the family owned business atmosphere and the idea that they treat their customers like family as well. No wait its the fact that they have old school tamales that I remember from my childhood. Latin folks may not appreciate them compared to their traditional tamales but these things are classics and its hard to find them in the stores. On third thought, the best thing about this place is the fact that because my mom loves these tamales and I can't find them too many places, they sell me extra tamales (frozen) that they have in the freezer so my mom can cook them at home when she wants them. How many places will do that for a customer. Um their chili with a tamale is great on a cold day as well. More of those days are coming! Thinking about it some more, I'd have to say the best thing about this place is the 1/2 lb bacon cheese burger... Yeah there are fancy burger joints in the city. we all see them on a regular basis. but for my money, taste buds, and family friendly vibe I'll take this beautiful beast more often then not. No big frills, just a well cooked burger (well I actually like mine medium) with a toasted bun, and excellent fresh ingredients on the burger. I guess the best thing about this place will occur the next time I visit them which will be soon as my mouth starts watering as I post this picture of the cheeseburger. Damn that's tasty!! Now this is what a classic burger joint should be. Come on Guy, get Dives, Drive In and Diners here immediately. Or maybe not, we don't want the trendsters coming in and destroying the vibe of this place.

I can't find a better Italian beef than here, and trust me, I tried. I used to be a diehard Portillo's fan, but after tasting Patio's Italian beef (hot and wet), I can't go back to Portillo's - it's just too bland. Johnnie's Beef is a decent rival, but much too far from me. Anyway, the Italian beef itself is 5 stars for me, but the gyro, Italian combo, and hot dog, while decent, weren't anything memorable, so that's why I docked them a star. I haven't had any issues with customer service - they seem like nice folk and get my order correct every time.

Fairly classic Chicago hotdog stand. The hotdog and fries are both very good. Dog is a vienna so all is right in that world... Gyro is a good gyro with a very tasty sauce. It could be meatier, but overall a decent sandwich. There is ample seating including outdoor patio- albeit on Broadway are. Service is always friendly and overall it is a solid place for hotdog or gyro.

Was visiting a friend at loyola and decided to walk to a local place and was not disappointed. Ordered a polish and cheese fries and paid less then 7 dollars. Polish was fantastic and the cheese used for the cheese fries had an almost jalapeño taste to it. Overall for the price and quality of the food I was very satisfied. The establishment looks a bit old and could use a bit of fixing up, but with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating its a nice little place to grab a bite.

Maybe I missed something!! The so called Italian beef sandwich was just beef, sitting in plain juice. No flavor. I saw the gyros being served and was disappointed in the portion size. Question: Are the other reviews written after a night of drinking ?

I've drove by them a countless amount of times telling my husband, " I bet they've got it going on!" but he said "Woman I am not eating that greasy cheap food with all this other fine dining around me". ....well I got my way! and they indeed GOT IT GOING ON. They got more going on than any of the sit down restaurants nearby cooking up american comfort foods for better prices. BTW- the foods not greasy at all. Chicken tender dinner with french fries and cheese sauce. Gyro sandwich with onion rings and ranch dipping sauce. 2 Cokes in a Can. ( I love that!) I am so happy to find a place reminiscent to my small home town lunch spots like Mickeys. The reason it did not get 5 stars is that I think the prices could be less for the portion sizes. If I am paying $9 for a 4 piece chicken tender and fries, then I should at least get a drink included. Will return though.

Ever so often, especially during the summers, I will take a long walk down to this place. Good fast food, especially the fries and the pizza puffs. A nice place, but a little small in size. But the staff is friendly, and they have good iced tea for those who don't want to drink pop all the time.

  • Brian P.

Got the $5 deal for footlong hotdog, fries + drink. after being away from chicago for 2 months, all i wanted was a decent hotdog. this place kind of delivered. skimped out on the toppings : ( plenty of fries : ) sort of watered down sprite : ( pretty sure my weiner was longer than a footlong when i first saw it : ) solid deal for 5$ though. I'm a fan for what it's worth, but doesn't much more than that!

Absolutely love this place. Was there twice last week. Great food, good service and fair prices. Will definitely be back soon.

I have to amend my review as well for Patio Beef. After frequenting Hella's Gyros on Bryn Mawr there is simply no reason to come to this place anymore. After the massive up charge for extra tzatziki, I can't come to a place that skimps out and charges more for food that is mediocre. I can pay the same price for a gyro plate at Hella's and receive twice as much food for a single gyro order here. Why? I'll be honest, you guys don't hold a candle to Hella's in terms of price and definitely in terms of taste. Your tzatziki needs an uplifting and you've lost a customer. All because ya'll wanna make an extra buck.

This is my favorite fast food in Chicago, dogs burgers Greek chicken, homemade soups every day. This is a small family business with great food and great customer service. You won't be disappointed whatever you try. Been going here for over 10 years.

  • Shelly S.

I love Patio Beef! You wouldn't think that you could get a healthy meal at a place like this, but I'm addicted to their Greek Salad with a chicken kabob on top. The salad comes with Romaine lettuce, feta cheese, red onions, pepperoncini, stuffed grape leaf, kalamata olives, tomatoes and cucumber. The chicken kabob is delicious, perfectly grilled and seasoned. This is served with a delicious lemon vinaigrette. Yum! Another favorite for me on their menu is the Grecian Chicken. It's 1/2 chicken served with a side salad and rice. The food is a great value and the family that owns the place are friendly and welcoming.

  • Erika G.

A basic little short order joint. I probably won't come back for the dogs, as they were only average. What was delicious here is the Italian Beef - wet! Clean, quick and friendly. Good option for a Chicago style lunch if you're in the area.

    (3)
  • Tim M.

I love this place. The owners are friendly and the food is flavorful and fresh. You must try the chicken kabobs and the gyros. The meats are so tender and savory. I've had so many dry gyros, but their's are amazing. They have a pretty good menu, so your definitely going to find something you'll like.

    (4)
  • Mike P.

Gyros are good but the cheeseburger might be one of the best kept secrets on the north side. It's a char-burger so if that's not your game, walk on. If it is your game then walk in and meet some of the nicest folks in Edgewater. They want to feed you fattening foods, but from where I come from that's love. Patio!

    (5)
  • Brian R.

I love this place, great food, friendly service. I always get a few things because it's so hard to decide on just one item. Foot long Chicago dog, Tom Tom Tamale, fries, burgers. Hands down, It's all really good

  • John M.

We're new to the neighborhood but this clean, cheery Mom-n-Pop store has become one of our favorites. Food is fast, fresh and reasonably priced. This is not gourmet fare but it's pretty darn good diner food. We particularly like the burgers and fish sandwich but have had several meals that were tasty and filling. Onion rings were soggy and greasy one time, so maybe the fryer temp was too low that day. Give them a try when you're craving some Chicago style comfort food. BTW, they DO take visa & mc, contrary to Yelp.

  • Sean C.

Great little place in Edgewater with excellent food (one of the best burgers around!) and very friendly, welcoming staff. My wife and I traditionally go here to celebrate -- or mourn, depending on the case -- after getting our taxes done across the parking lot, and I periodically stop in when I'm hungry and not too busy. Oh...and my recommendation? When ordering a hot dog, have 'em char it. Mmmmmmm!!! BTW, they DO accept credit cards here, despite the notation on top of this page.

Hi Leo! If you are from the hood, you know who he is. Yes, this is a Mom and Pop shop! Clean, wiped down, lacquered tables. Cop support is evident when you walk in the door. Always a special posted on the front door. Hours are strict and posted. Not open late. I am a fan of the Gyros (yee-ros- as posted on the front window). They grill the pita for you, add the right amount of onion, and throw on the sauce. Perfect! The cheeseburgers are not bad either! My P's love the chili dogs and crispy fries. Plain hot dogs are good too! This is a must stop shop for my family when they come to town. We pick it up and bring it home. It transports well! The fries stay crispy- everyone is happy! Cash is king- but an ATM is present in the shop (credit cards are now accepted too!)

I'm very sad to write that all good things must come to an end. Today, after receiving the wrong order, I phoned to let them know because I wanted to come and get the right order. The cashier proceeded to tell me she was right, I was wrong. I told her that I ordered a hot dog, no relish, extra sport peppers, which doesn't even translate into a hamburger as hamburgers don't have relish or sport peppers. She continued to argue with me, saying that she knows I ordered a hamburger and then was indignant because I was irritated. Apparently, the customer isn't always right at Patio Beef, even when they are right. It's probably for the best anyway...

  • Andrew G.

You are always greeted with a smile when you walk into patio.. but the food is really nothing special. I've had just about everything on the menu- the gyros are pretty good and so is their chicken, but for less money you can get better food near by. I almost forgot!!.. their rice is delicious too! This place is always busy and at peak hours, it can sometimes take longer than I'd like to get my food.

    (3)
  • Linda K.

Everything here is good!! I went here a lot growing up. I haven't been here in a while since I moved but when I do come in, the family still always remembers me and always ask how my parents are, by their name :)

  • Jeff J.

Good solid neighborhood establishment. There's nothing fancy about the place, but it's fairly priced and convenient. For a burger or a dog - a quick lunch, I'd much rather give my money to a family owned business than to a corporate chain. The neighborhood cops hang out here too.

  • Chet M.

A divvy little place ya gotta try if in Edgewater. Buy a lotto ticket too as you pick up your dog!

  • Austin P.

I've walked by this little family-owned greasy spoon for years and never once thought of going in until a recent trip to the new library. I WAS WRONG. The Italian beef (dipped with hot peppers) was really, really good. The hot dog was nothing special, but $5 with a drink and fries made it a great deal. I can't wait to try the gyro and other Greek dishes...not to mention the cheese fries. This is not health food, and it won't be getting a Michelin star anytime soon, but it does what it does pretty damn well.

  • Nick M.

Hot dog with a capital Eh! Don't get my wrong I absolutely love small places like this, they are what makes this world worth living on! But Patio Beef is just very lack luster compared to the other dozen plus places I've been to in this city. I always get a hot dog Chicago style minus the neon relish (seriously who eats that?!), they even fold in the hand cut fries. I tried the cheese fries once and didn't dig the cheese. Service is always warm and friendly. It's nice to have one of these kinds of establishments near by but I just wish they had a little bit more excitement to their food.

Picture a Chicago Beef/Burger/Dog Place in your head, and here you have it. The Italian Beef/Sausage Combo is great. The sausage is huge and I like the way they cook it. I didn't give 5 stars because I thought almost ten dollars was a tiny bit much for a sandwich, fries, and a glass of water. I did, however, leave full and satisfied, and I will return. I'm glad his place is in my neighborhood, especially to take out-of-town guests for a casual bite.

  • Scott B.

I love the burgers and the gyros here. Ok, so I know that you can go to Moody's get a good burger and that Hellas on Bryn Mawr has good gyros but what makes this place special is the service. The people that work here are just extremely nice. The other day I was in here waiting on my order and witnessed an act of kindness. From what I could gather, the woman in front of me did not have enough cash on her to pay for her & her son's lunch. The woman who owns the place (I think) just let her have the extra items. The lady was very appreciative. There is still some kindness that exists in the world and you can find it here along with a good burger or gyro.

  • Troy H.

Neighborhood joint enjoyed by locals, I don't know if you necessarily take a trip up Broadway to go here, but it is good food. The combo beef is very good, and even the fish n chips are decent. There is a huge lunch rush, where a ton of people working in the area (cops, building contractors) all stop in. It feels like a neighborhood bar, with familiar faces behind the counter.

  • Jeanette S.

I'm a real fan of this place! I worked as a vendor at the nearby farmers market and would stop in for the soup of day. It is soooooo delicious and hearty, specifically the minestrone and Lentil, which were my personal favorites. Great addition to this neighborhood!

    (4)
  • Errol B.

The Gyros was pretty decent. The sauce was much better than most places. I would give this place 4 stars if not for the skimpy amount of Gyros meat I got on my sandwich.

    (3)
  • Matthew C.

Gyro was pretty good. Hot dog buns were slightly stale. Fries are aces.

one of the best restaurant's in Chicago in the edge water at that, went in for a double cheeseburger a week ago and its great never had a problem with the owners there extremely friendly and know how to treat there customer's, I highly recommend this place if you live in the edge water area stop in and try out there food...I will always support this place

My fiancé grew up around the corner from this place and has been coming here since he was a kid. Naturally, whenever I was visiting him we always managed to find ourselves here. And now that i live in the neighborhood too, we're always here when we want good food quick. Patio will never disappoint, and their menu has so much on it that you could seriously come here 3 times every week for a month and not get bored (but you just may need bigger pants). I'm not a big fan of gyros but my fiancé claims they are the best he's ever eaten. I personally rotate between the chicago dog, chicken tender sandwich or the chicken pita-- and I always get a side of their spicy (cajun) fries (a must!). And don't forget to try their soups--they have a new one every day and they are all made from scratch. All of the chicken noode/rice soups are amazing! FYI: closed sundays, cash only (but they do have an onsite ATM)

I stopped in here yesterday with my boyfriend to get a bite to eat and I have passed by this place for years and never stopped in until yesterday. The food was rather mediocre in nature because I ordered the fish and chips and my boyfriend had a gyros dinner. It seemed as if this place was a regular little spot for Chicago Police detectives because there seemed to be a neverending crowd of them coming in and eating while on a dinner break. It also creeped me out how they seemed to stare you down and you're just coming in to eat and going about your business. I have had better fish and chips and my boyfriend knows better places than this to get a good gyros that's better than that garbage a** place around the corner from his house where they make theirs ghetto style and not authentic the way greek places make it. The place is clean don't get me wrong, but they need to look at getting the place made over with better booths since they look so 1980s and they're missing that phone call from the decade asking for their furniture and light fixtures back. Plus they had a flat screen television that they kept repeatedly switching channels on while customers were eating and watching programs. I mean it's one thing to change the channel, but every 5 minutes I mean hello you're not at home channel surfing like you are bored out of your mind simple words of wisdom MAKE UP YOUR MIND as to what you want to put on the television and leave it alone. Next time my sweetie and I dine out we will be checking Yelp for reviews on different places because the experience could have been a lot better than what it was the other night.

POPPYSEED BUNS! I really don't understand why it's so hard to find a place that sells hot dogs on poppyseed buns or why I have such an obsession with them but this place has it and is therefore, my favorite neighborhood hot dog joint. That along with their cheap prices, large menu and clean dining area (+ a tv playing American Idol on Tuesdays) makes this place a definite must if you live in the neighborhood. I used to come here all the time as a kid with my cousins after visiting Edgewater library and loved sitting in their indoor patio. Coming here brings back memories of long hot summer days when you were young and had nothing to worry about (except when your library books were due!).

Unfortunately my review has to be amended. I'm disappointed in Patio. I've gone there probably 2 dozen times now and although the burger is still superb and the hot dogs can't be beat, I can't say the rest of the menu is much to rave about. The gyros - the meat is good, but the tzatziki is much, MUCH too sweet and overcomes the taste of the meat. I'll head over to Hella's next time. The bbq beef sandwich - blah. The bbq sauce is definitely a generic bottle sauce. Absolutely nothing to write home about. However, here is where I have to draw the line. What is up with your fries, Patio? They are so bland and either under cooked (cold and limp) or over cooked (warmish, but greasy and limp) that they are inedible. Seriously, tell your cook to stop making huge batches of fries at once and cook the fries when someone orders. If it takes a little longer, then so be it. Because, right now, those fries are gross. And ordering cheese fries doesn't help either. You can still taste the bland through all the cheese goodness. It's a shame....you're a hot dog/fries stand, you make good dogs, burgers, etc. so, please up the ante with the fries! That's all I ask!

  • Mill V.

Pretty damn clean for a gyro/ burger shop. There's a great oil panting of a burger that was pretty amazing. I really dig it. They serve RC on tap, my mom would dig that, maybe you would, too! The burger was good, not rememberable. Fries weren't good. Oil tasted old to me. The kitchen was clean, so me likey. The service was great, people with great attitude.

  • Vlad S.

They have a patio, although it's somewhat indoors. They serve italian beef (yes, they dip the sandwich in the sauce). I don't get anything else here, because I don't have to. Their fries are eh, but the beef is really good and cheap. Could use slightly bigger portions though.

  • Ted R.

"Found" Patio Beef again after many years. Used to take the Kids (now 28 26 and 21) there when the wife was out of town for fast good food. Needed some fast good food a few times the last month. Yup - Patio Beef still delivers the goods. There is a reason a business is around so many years. I am switching over from hot dogs to Chicken Sandwiches (as a general rule) and find both solid at this place.

    (5)
  • Vinay D.

Definitely one of the better neighborhood joints on the north side. Burgers, Gyros, fries, Fried Chicken...they've got everything and they do it all quite well! Even better now that they take credit cards!

I was sad when Standee's was closed for good ... but it didn't take a long time for me to find even a better replacement. And that's Patio Beef! In fact I think, Standee's clientele, like me, didn't have much problem transferring our loyalty to this place. The clientele's the same - policemen, students, construction workers, office workers, seniors, ... you know, regular people (hah!). In some ways, this is much better than Standee's - it's sunnier, cleaner and the seating's more comfortable. The staff members are very friendly and seem to know the regulars by name. The food is decent to good. I get my craving filled here for Greek-style chicken dinner - a generous helping of half chicken, salad, rice (I can't live without rice), and bread. Their gyros is also good and the Italian beef ...is really good and you get the juice on the side. Yes, it's a little bit divey, but that's the charm of the place - a regular neighborhood joint where you can come as you are, no pretentions, just good solid everyday American (and some Greek) food. And they have parking! The only thing I don't like about this place is ... they have Fox News on television, constantly. :-).

This place food quality remain similar to when I first visit here 11 year ago . I remember they had the jumbo hot dog special for $2 back then and all my friends would come here to eat after we got out of school or whenever we left the library next to it. I really like the people that work there. They are so friendly. The husband and wife. There is a pretty gal that work there also. These 3 have been working here since I first visited this place. I always liked their shrimp basket or the 4 piece chicken dinner. Their burger, hot dog, gyros, etc all taste good to me. Remember to get Cajun fries with your order.

Solid family run place. The italian beef and sausage combo is excellent, the sweet peppers are not overcooked. Like others I think they could get some hand cut fries. Parking is helpful.

I had a taste for an italian beef and decided to try one from this place...trust me, ive had MUCH better!!! the beef tasted like it was kinda processed, but had lots of salty flavor and juicy. the service was fast too. however, i dont see them getting 5 stars for it. i saw no herbs and it just didnt taste very homemade to me. then again, what do i really expect? its the boring old north side. i was better off driving to portillos for much better food.

Great split pea soup w/bacon! Probably would've still been good without the bacon bits, since I couldn't taste much bacon in the soup....

  • Luke S.

A good Chicago-style dog, but not spectacular and the fries (which I didn't need, but came with the dog) were blah. Super friendly, clean, and "authentic"-feeling, but I'm looking for a bit more from my dog.

    (3)
  • Yo U.

Good fries and a decent char dog, but their idea of a fully-dressed Chicago dog doesn't feature either celery salt or sport peppers. That's a pity. Lovely, friendly staff and a clean dining space. Recommended if you're in the area and you'd like a dog.

Every time I come back to Chicago I come here for Italian beef. The beef is pretty consistent on tenderness.

The chicken breast sandwich is so good! Get them with cajun fries and pepsi and it looks like quality college lunch time to me. The owner and his wife and daughters are friendly and efficient and keep things in order, and they remember your order if you're there often. Parking available and plenty of newspapers to sit back and read, or look up and watch the tele...nice quiet environment. Go there on certain nights and you'll catch all the cute CPD cops. Definitely miss it since graduating from Loyola.

Hot Dog Special! Two hot dogs with fries and a drink for like 6 bucks! Deal the F-in' century! So awesome!

Glad the Edgewater library was closed so I was forced to find a place to finish my book. And eat a polish with fries that was hot, crispy, and tasty. Clean, homey place with a friendly staff, I'll be back for more hot grub soon.

  • Jackie T.

Patio Beef's food is consistently good and, owners (a nice Greek couple) are always friendly and courteous. And the FOOD? The killer hot dogs are top - notched and the fries are great, too. The burgers are outstanding, as well.

  • Rocky B.

Not a bad place if you've got a craving for a italian sausage dipped with giardinera....least that's what I always get. Hey, if it ain't broke don't fix it. They do serve a wide selection fast food joint type foods. Gyros, burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, greasy fries, pizza puffs...oh yeah my friend I said pizza puffs. Nothing can make your heart clench faster than this deep fried pocket of pizza goodness. But oooo it's so good. If you're in the area you might want to check out Patio Beef....just make sure your packing some Rolaids.

    (3)
  • Joe T.

It's a tasty family-owned hot dog place. The Cajun fries are a must. Get the hot dogs with everything! Patio is cleaner than most hot dog stands and the owners/employees are all very friendly people. If you need food to go, Patio is cheap and quick.

I too have been a customer for over ten years now. I stopped briefly about five years ago because the two daughters at the counter appeared more interested in selling lottery tickets than taking orders; however, the Dad wisely removed the machine. I was just in there today and ordered a couple of Jumbo hot dogs and apparently the way they make them is simply to nuke them in the microwave. Upon my inquiry about this, one of the daughters and the cook tried to conceal the fact and muttered something about the dogs cooking "in the back." The mother must have overheard the whole thing and she arrived on the scene trying to obseve exactly what happened. There was some to and fro from the back sink area ( and a great deal of whipsering among the three) . Then the mother reappears empty handed and alone to the front counter and sheepishly informs me (as she packs my order) that the jumbo hot dogs were not made and that that's the reason why they were simply micorwaved frozen. Good Italian beef (I get dipped, no peppers, with mozz). Critically located across from Dominick's; the perfect remedy to the much-hated 'going to the grocery store hungry' situation. Fries are alright, but nothing special.

The dogs are good but their fries are the worst I've ever had which is why I very seldom come in here and I live a stone's throw away. When I have a dog I want good fries. Is that so much to ask? Come on Patio, get it together. I'd give you 5 stars if you had decent fries.

going to loyola university, where there is a subway, mcdonald's, and chipotle a hop skip away, i never ventured too far except when i went to that ethiopian restaurant (diamond) but i found another treasure. patio beef is a small, comfort food servin' joint. we ordered the half greek chicken with rice. it was really good and pretty cheap. we ordered 3 of those for $20.44! not too shabby on the wallet. there is a parking lot there for easy parking and pretty close to the campus (loyola university). so try something new and different!! i'm talking to you loyola students.

  • Brittany M.

Everything here is good!! I went here a lot growing up. I haven't been here in a while since I moved but when I do come in, the family still always remembers me and always ask how my parents are, by their name :)

Good solid neighborhood establishment. There's nothing fancy about the place, but it's fairly priced and convenient. For a burger or a dog - a quick lunch, I'd much rather give my money to a family owned business than to a corporate chain. The neighborhood cops hang out here too.

    (5)

Definitely one of the better neighborhood joints on the north side. Burgers, Gyros, fries, Fried Chicken...they've got everything and they do it all quite well! Even better now that they take credit cards!

  • Yo U.

Good fries and a decent char dog, but their idea of a fully-dressed Chicago dog doesn't feature either celery salt or sport peppers. That's a pity. Lovely, friendly staff and a clean dining space. Recommended if you're in the area and you'd like a dog.

They have a patio, although it's somewhat indoors. They serve italian beef (yes, they dip the sandwich in the sauce). I don't get anything else here, because I don't have to. Their fries are eh, but the beef is really good and cheap. Could use slightly bigger portions though.

Patio Beef's food is consistently good and, owners (a nice Greek couple) are always friendly and courteous. And the FOOD? The killer hot dogs are top - notched and the fries are great, too. The burgers are outstanding, as well.

I disliked being lied to, and though I had prepaid, I simply walked out without the order vowing never to return. I did give two stares for atmosphere because I think the mom makes an effort but she's up against the two princesses and their coterie of cooks.

Gyro. Plate. Full stop. Ok the fries are also amazing and the burgers are excellent. This place is amazing and what you see is what you get. Simple service. Simple food. Gyros are good but the cheeseburger might be one of the best kept secrets on the north side. It's a char-burger so if that's not your game, walk on. If it is your game then walk in and meet some of the nicest folks in Edgewater. They want to feed you fattening foods, but from where I come from that's love. Patio!

I love this place. The owners are friendly and the food is flavorful and fresh. You must try the chicken kabobs and the gyros. The meats are so tender and savory. I've had so many dry gyros, but their's are amazing. They have a pretty good menu, so your definitely going to find something you'll like.

A basic little short order joint. I probably won't come back for the dogs, as they were only average. What was delicious here is the Italian Beef - wet! Clean, quick and friendly. Good option for a Chicago style lunch if you're in the area.

I'm a real fan of this place! I worked as a vendor at the nearby farmers market and would stop in for the soup of day. It is soooooo delicious and hearty, specifically the minestrone and Lentil, which were my personal favorites. Great addition to this neighborhood!

The Gyros was pretty decent. The sauce was much better than most places. I would give this place 4 stars if not for the skimpy amount of Gyros meat I got on my sandwich.
