I write reviews when I go out of town. What I don't like is who in the hell wants to read them? It is not like someone is going to rush out to Outback in Chicago because of my review. This Outback is attached to the Springhill Suites. I like going here because you park your car check in and then go through the lobby and eat a decent supper. I had their prime rib with mashed potatoes and a cup of soup. All were really very good and it was not stupid expensive. I also liked the service I received. There short and sweet and hopefully I won't bore anyone.

I am posting this review on behalf of my mother who stopped at the O'Hare Outback on her way home from work the other night. ***************************** On the way home, stopped at the Higgins Road location in far NW Chicago for a carryout order of shrimp on the barbie. When I got home I opened the container and noticed something black crawling around on the shrimp and then two nasty, large flies flew off into my house. Yuk, yuk, YUK!!! I'll never get the image out of my mind of those things crawling around on my food. The manager offered to prepare another meal for me, as if I would ever consider eating their food again. If I brought home two flies trapped inside my food container, I can only imagine how infested their kitchen must be. He wouldn't refund my money; only will send certificate which I'll gift to some non-friend. I will definitely never, ever eat at Outback again! ***************************** That makes it 3 bad experiences out of 3 most recent visits for my family. The word is going out to stay away. You all will make someone sick!

The food was very bad. The steak was dry and over seasoned. Tasted like microwaved food. Won't go back

O'Hare location, been there couple times. But I'm writing, cause I've thought it over and over, on how disappointed I was with my server Pedro other day. No worries Wed with unlimited shrimp was delish! But when service is not good it makes me think twice about going back or even recommending place. But server Steve which was working other tables, sounded awesome at his job! He actually was the one who brought over our food.

Very upset with this Outback. 10 of us went there last Sunday Aug. 30th at 2PM. We had a wonderful attentive server (why I gave 2 stars), but the food was left to be desired. My filet looked pathetic. It was maybe a 1/2" thick. But my main reason for this review is that my 83 year old mother got food poisoning from the Salmon. She spent all Monday the 31st in the ER until they admitted her at 7PM. They performed all kinds of tests and she was in the hospital until THURSDAY, Sept. 3rd. Diagnosis...food poisoning! My brother who is a recent stem cell transplant recipient was with us. If he would have been affected, it could have been disastrous! Will NEVER step foot in an Outback again!!!

Man I hate giving Outback anything below 4 stars because it's probably my favorite restaurant, but at this one, i was just not having it. First this one is oddly shaped. It's attached to the hotel so it's just a long stretch. Not much they can do there, I just thought it was weird. Walked in and the guy at the front just continued wiping down menus, even with me and the gf standing right there. He saw us too but finished first before asking us how many. A little weird but not too big of a deal. We got seated and our waitress was just not having it that day apparently. Wasn't happy and welcoming, seemed like she was just tired of it all. She did give me an iced tea refill with out me asking so that was nice, but the iced tea was pretty gross this time around. Food was alright, I like how they have the blooming petals now, so that I didn't have to split a full onion between just two of us. Kind of over priced still but delicious. Seems like the portions are getting smaller and smaller. I got a 6 oz steak, so I know that would be small, but there was only like 3 pieces of broccoli that came with it. Help a brother out man. I got the potato soup too and that was a little salty, still tasted good though. My gf got a coke and it just tasted off. I can't really explain if it was too much syrup or too little, it was just really off. Hopefully this is just a seldom experience because I'll always love Outback.

So I ate here again (obviously) and the staff still need help with greeting and welcoming their guests. They are so rushed and nervous with the questions. Some people get a pager while others don't, etc. it's kind of a mess. Everyone is just waiting in the entry all worked up because the vibe is weird. Perhaps start suggesting that guests wait at the bar and relax while waiting for a table. Find a way... Unfortunately the food this time around wasn't that great either. My wedge had gross tasting lettuce and enough dressing for 5 salads. Maybe they knew the lettuce was bad. There was also an extreme bacon shortage. So I'm just not coming back to this particular location anymore.

Day 1- sometimes you have these burgers that have special sauces, vegetables, and other add ons. But what really makes a burger a burger? The patty. I ordered mine medium rare and to my demise, it was very dry. Day 2- the chicken wings. Hats off to my server. It was not a home run but it got me to third base. 10pcs for $9.99? Not bad. It was breaded, not buffalo wings. It was juicy. The butter was there but could be of been better. I ordered hot but it was not blazin hot. I could say it is the best deal for chicken wings. If only bdubs was that cheap.

OMG. I am a huge fan of OB and have eaten at them throughout the world because if there isn't anything else, they tend to be consistent. This one had to be one of the original The decor was disgusting and the waitstaff looked like some of the homeless I see back in San Franciso. Food was mediocre and portions small, beer was tepid. Its in a Springhill by Marriott and close to O'Hare. You'd think they want to attract more people. There are many nicer places in the are.

Typical Outback, except this one is attached to a hotel. Our server was really nice and the food was decent. Mom loves their chopped pecan salad ad their salmon, so she was happy. Christopher had a filet and I had ribeye steak. His was tender , mine was a tad chewy, but both were flavorful. What I liked about this place was that it was not loaded with screaming kids. That is worth driving a bit farther than the other Outback on Touhy that we usually go to. To me there is nothing that ruins a meal more than screaming, unruly children. The other Outback is usually infested with them, so this may become our new got to spot when the mood hits.

It's Outback, old reliable, those familiar pair of shoes that you know aren't the best, but they are comfortable and do the job. Great space here, service was phenomenal, took two small ones and grandma with the wife and everything was good.

This is your typical chain steak house. There was nothing spectacular about the place. We went to hang out and chill plus there was a game on so we sat at a booth in the bar and it was pretty relaxing. Waitress was really nice and friendly and the food was fresh and hot when it came out. I still believe they have one of the best wedge salads around. All in all of your in the area and want a decent steak not a bad place to check out.

We ordered their prime rib. it was a bit raw but tasted great. Their steak salad and house salad were small. Pretty much their portions have become smaller but still tasty. Our waiter was amazing, he was funny and was always making sure we were taken care of, Overall the waiter and the wings made the visit worth while in my opinion. Just wish they were a little more generous on portions.

Of course only 3 stars, it is Outback after all. We worried about the service we would receive when we first walked in since we waited at the hostess stand for 5 minutes without being acknowledged. Finally a girl came up, no hi there or anything, and barked at us to follow her. Thankfully we had Britney as our server who was cranky pants opposite and was very pleasant throughout the meal. The one thing I love about Outback is that you can get a 6 oz steak and two sides, including all the free bread you want, for $10.99. My steak was cooked perfectly as was the baked sweet potato I ordered. The side salad was meh. My husband got some sort of pork chop with garlic mashed potatoes and enjoyed it. They had a list of pretty great looking $4 cocktails too. Decent meal overall for a good price. The location is a bit odd which might explain why it wasn't that busy. I'm assuming most of their clientele comes from the attached hotel next door.

This place has always been a crap shoot on service and food experience. We came here late for dinner on Valentine's day. With as many people waiting in the lobby, I was surprised their estimated wait time was only 20+ minutes for a table. We looked at each other and asked,"How long for a seat in a bar area?" Well, it was first-come, first-served and as luck would have it, there were 4 seats at the bar and a booth. We chose the booth. It took a couple minutes for someone to come by, clear the table, bring menus, silverware and napkins. However, under the circumstances, we didn't mind the short delay. The drink menu was already on the table so by time the waitress came by, we were ready to order the Aussie Rum Punch, Ahi Tuna and Coconut Shrimp appetizers. When then drinks and bread came, we ordered our main course. For the first time, I tried the pork tenderloin with green beans and potatoes. The change from having salmon or steak dish was nice. I was already full from the drinks, bread, appetizers and green beans that I only managed to swallow 2 pieces and rest were devoured by my boyfriend sometime while I slept. I woke up this morning to find my leftover container empty!

Hreat drinks and food. Waiter could have been more into serving us and less trying to be our best friend. Steaks were ordered rare and actually came out rare that hasn't happened to me at other steak houses. They usually send it out medium rare. Great place.

My recent trip to outback was a good one I walked in and immediately the atmosphere was beautiful secondly my way to Janisse was incredibly sweet and sad is done promptly there was no wait this is a plus but when the main course came out that's what it was a disaster my blooming onion had nacho cheese run off on it probably from the last order on the table I will not be coming back again

This has always been my favorite location. The food and service is normally very good. But of course, the night i go there to redeem my birthday free dessert, it was disappointing. The poor waiter seemed overwhelmed, and it really wasn't that busy, and my steak was inedible. All the sides, very bland. They did comp me my entrée. It seems to be going downhill. I wonder if there is new management?

Baked sweet potatoes are very good here. Steak is not too bad. Overall good food for the price.

Had Sam for a server. Being in the Food an Bverage industry, I recognize great service , with a smile. Sam had it all----he truly enjoyed what he was doing. Outback, you got a good one. He needs a promotion !!!!!

To start parking here is at a prime with the resturant being attached to the hotel next door. Upon entering you are met with a crowd of people at the door You fight through the crowd to the desk where you may or may not get a pager (not sure how that works) The bar was crowded with people from the hotel having drinks and not allowing patrons the ability to wait there for a table to open. Once seated the wait staff seemed to want to push you out the door as soon as possible. The food was average to good prices were a little high on somethings and low on others. The best thing I saw as I was leaveing was a call ahead and pick up your food sign. The cars pulling up to pick up food were blocking the handicapped parking. Like I said the foods average no parking but ok if your stuck for a meal maybe call and take it to go.

If I could rate this restaurant with negative stars, I WOULD. From the second we walked in, the service was absolutely horrible. The entry way was full with 3 separate parties, and before Ariana (the host) appeared I was already waiting 10 minutes. The host was extremely RUDE; did not apologize for the wait time, not pleasant at all, made no eye contact, no smiling, and was very snippy when asking the room full of people how many were in the groups. Absolute worst customer service I have received in a very long time. Ariana told us the wait would be ten minutes, and walked away. We waited almost 20 minutes. Again, with no apologies or even a pleasant check in to let us know the wait was going to be a little longer. All I can say, is I am extremely disappointed. I sure hope the food makes up for this despicable service!

Ok location. Food was excellent. Lack of coffee and the blistering attitude that went with it ruined our evening. Seriously. Manager was nice but his excuse that it took from empty cup at the serving of the appetizer to no water no communication and no coffee until just after we finished eating is unacceptable. Yes, he did get the waitress to start rounding but her attitude was glib and she made sure to charge us for the coffee. Too little far too late. I understand. Serving is hard and we did leave a generous tip, but the waitress and excuse happy manager cared more about themselves. BTW we asked 4 separate servers for water and we never received it.

Tried the wednesday "No worries" $11.95 lunch special. I picked the 6oz outback special sirloin. It was so grizzly I asked for a sharper knife. John the waiter offed to replsce the steak. I got another which was so much better and what one expects. Alexia the manager was very intent to make sure that I was happy. Problem corrected. I'll be back.

I won some Outback gift cards, so we came here for an early Saturday lunch. This is really an odd location, but the staff was super friendly. The food is standard......

My husband and I received a $75 gift card for our anniversary and went here on a Sunday afternoon. We started with watermelon cocktail it was very tasty with fresh mint! We loved it! Next, we had hot wings and a fried lobster and shrimp appetizer, both served hot and tasty. My husband had grilled salmon and I had grilled prime rib and Wow they were delicious. Our server was Paul D., an aspiring comedian, and he was fantastic! Excellent food and Superb service!!! Thank you!

This is our first time dining here. We had along drive 15 hours and staying at Spring Hill Suites so we are too tired to go out. We had an excellent dinner. I was not disappointed. The food was excellent, the place was nice and cozy, the service was very good. My husband and 3 children enjoyed everything on their plate. We will be back again....

This place is near spring hill suites something. I picked up my friends on a typical Tuesday rush hour, 6:30 pm and realized that I'll sleep in the traffic then saw the sign of the Outback Steakhouse, why not gave it a try and not block people's way home. Last week I was on a biz Wichita, KS and so loved Outback east town, delicious appetizer crab mushroom, so kind and detailed waitress Miss Bailey. Finally, appetizer tastes bad, looks and tastes like what mummies will eat. But the tilapia is good though, mushrooms between looks like get over sunburnt from summer chicago sun. Bread is good. At most 3 stars, I wanna give 2.5, but there is no such thing, sorry 2 stars for this visit. But the one in Wichita, KS, I can give 5 stars. Not waitress's fault, chef plz wake up!!!

This place really needs some work. I never had anything bad from here before until today. It was not a busy day when I just left here from there, but they still managed to mess things up. My soup took forver to make and once it came out it was so salty I just put it to the side. Then I got a steak medium Shit was well done......their chefs are horrible. If you say this place is good your lying to yourself. It's just a mediocre steak restaurant for people who don't know better. I honestly could of cooked myself a steak better than this and crockpoted some soup that would of been of the heavens. Service was so bad the manager took money off the whole order. Save yourself the trouble and just go to hooters

Service was hit or miss here. First night my server was awesome. She killed it. Second night we got a server who disappeared for long periods of time. Overall a pretty standard Outback. I don't think I'm as much of a fan of this chain as I used to be. Still, this is the only thing in the hotel so you're pretty stuck with it. It gets very crowded at dinner regardless of the day of week. Tip- bar is actually open until 11. Didn't realize this until it was the next day. I had wanted to go around 10pm but thought it was closed. No food after 10 I think but you can still get drinks.

A decent steak, but nothing to write home about. The service was excellent, thanks to Sam, our waiter. My salad and broccoli side dishes were the best part of the meal. Although the steak was well prepared, it wasn't a great cut of meat. For the price, not a bad deal.

Came here for dinner as we had just landed at O'Hare and checked into the hotel. I ordered a hamburger with fries. Seemed pretty standard. The burger was dry and lacked flavor. Our table was also dirty and under the table there were crayons and napkins. I guess there were some kids sitting at our table before us. The service was good. Can't complain about that. Our server was attentive and prompt. If we had more time, I would have explored other restaurants in the area.

Oh, good ol' Outback. I love going to outback for the bloomin' onion and warm dark rye bread. The entrees are good too. I usually go for the fish however. They have good salmon and shrimp which are big enough to fill me up. The desserts are pretty outrageous as well. The chocolate thunder from down under is a cardio-blocker that'll surely make things worth your while. The only reason I didn't give this place five stars is because of the service. I find that by coming here, the service is rather inconsistent. This last time we were seated and had to wait 15 minutes to get service! That should never happen anywhere...

    (4)
  • Christina M.

I ussually take my food to go...just because it's later and I'd rather be the in the comfort of my home. But the food travels really well, I usually get the Tilapia with grilled veggies.Super yummy. And great service.

Booooo, crappy chain food... Also seeing the paid for ad on yelp makes them seem desperate for suckers. Make better food, or make it cheaper.

This is an OK location. its VERY small compared to a regular outback. Its on the bottom floor of a hotel. Parking is difficult because the lot is very thin and small. Id also call ahead at least an hour to get on the waitlist for a table on the weekends. Other than that, the food is average for an outback.. normal menu. If you havent been to an outback, id suggest the sirloin steak. its seasoned perfectly. skip the parmesan crust on the steak. its really just a parmesan cream sauce with breadcrumbs.. not a real parmesan crust. they also have good baked sweet potatoes. i noticed the staff here is top notch. they must be trained well to be extra nice because of all the angry people that have been waiting forever to get a table after trying to maneuver their parking lot on the weekends. if i can avoid this location, i do. just too small and difficult to park. Going during the week doesnt seem to be a problem at all tho.

    (3)
  • Robbin M.

Service is always good, parking a challenge mainly because of the location. Creole marmalade was a nice surprise. I personally think the food is salty and a bit over seasoned. Looking forward to the fire grilled pork chops...still looking for them. Average and tough. The filet was good but it's hard to mess that up. Portions used to be bigger but still very satisfying. I'll be heading to Jamesons the next time.

Had the chicken and unlimited shrimp, very good.My wife had the porterhouse pork awesome, just order with out the seasoning and it taste way better. Great place for a quick meal with good prices, and very attentive staff....

We like outback but we sat there over fifteen minutes and not one single server could come to our table on a not busy Wednesday night. I've been to another location on a busy Saturday and much better service. Another customer finally told their waiter we had been sitting there. She probably felt bad for my kid. My son finished his whole coloring book they gave him and still no waiter. Will never go back to this location even though it's closer to us. My husband was fuming.

The food was great and the service was excellent. More than I expected of a chain restaurant. I could eat the artichoke dip every day.

Been to a couple other Outbacks before and have never had such poor service at any restaurant in my life! I took my girlfriend out for our 6 month anniversary. Had to wait about 10 minutes for a table not so bad but we saw about 4 or 5 empty tables while we were waiting and then were finally seated. Our waitress came over asked us what we wanted to drink and after she brought them we were wondering where the bread was so when she came back to take our order we asked and she said we give it to you after you order (which I always get right when I sit down at other locations). The butter was frozen of some sort? We both ordered steaks. Her an 11 oz and me 8oz when they brought them out they were unsure which one was the bigger steak. (Looked about the same) They went to ask the cook and finally came back and told us. I made eye contact with the waitress because we wanted the check. She ignored us and went straight to the back booth to talk to her co workers. After 15 min of waiting she came over. Never again pick a different location!!!!

  • Roxana B.

I'm a big fan of outback but this place really disappointed me. From the parking lot being full and the server not caring about our table gave it a 1 star. Our server gave us cold bread took 15 minutes for our drinks to come out. Then when we asked for water never received it. He was just in a hurry didn't ask how everything was and forgetting everything. It was just very frustrating and one of the managers was nice enough to take off the drinks since we were waiting so long for our bill our food and the waiter just passed by us the whole time! The place was not even busy! Bad service I would never go back to that outback ever again ! One more thing the coconut shrimp was just reheated.

    (1)
  • Carmen B.

It's always hit or miss! The last time service was lacking (it wasn't busy either) and the food was gross. The bloomin onion was undercooked aka still had raw batter towards the center, the shrimp appetizer was minuscule/nonexistent, and my salad was soggy. It seems like things go better when they are packed yet the wait for a table seems never ending.

    (2)
  • Debbie H.

This was our second visit to this location for lunch. The first visit was just so-so and we thought we would give it another try. Have to say the service was just lacking-from the hostess to the server. Never got smiles from anyone. Everyone appeared to just be going thru the motion of earning a living. Waitress was not very attentive and food was mediocre at best. Upon leaving, person at the front desk never even acknowledged our exiting. Don't plan on returning.

I have always been a fan of Outback. As far as chain restaurants go, I place it in my "top 5", beating out Longhorn, (but obviously not a Ruth Chris, but then again, that's in a whole different league). So why the 1star? Due to very poor service and steaks that were not at all prepared to our liking. I go here on a date with my girlfriend, we are at opposite ends of the steak-eating spectrum in that I enjoy my steak a nice bloody medium-rare, and she likes her steak crispy well-done, cringing at the sight of any pink. Absolutely nothing wrong with the app, I think we ordered some chicken quesadilla of some sort. But when it came to our main meals, and what we ultimately came for (the steaks!), my $20 ribeye comes back well-done and her "signature sirloin" is a barely edible, even for my likes, cold bloody red. We immediately notify our waitress, who is polite about it, taking ownership for "her mistake" in mixing up our orders. Our waitress has someone else come back with our steaks about 15 minutes later. Once again, my steak is completely charred inside and out, and this time my girlfriend's steak is medium...with definite pink throughout. Unacceptable! Then our waitress takes her sweet ass time to check back in on us, ask us how our steaks turned out, although it should have been abundantly clear that neither of us enjoyed our steaks as we had taken maybe 2 bites. The waitress apologizes, this time blaming the kitchen. OK, I believe that. But as a "steakhouse", to have our steaks prepared incorrectly not once, but twice, is completely unacceptable. How hard is it to get the desired doneness? Were some new chefs in training back there learning how to cook steaks for the first time? So then our waitress suggests that she will give us a comp for our appetizer. I explain to our waitress that the appetizer was just fine, but that we would like compensation for our dinner. Waitress then gives us an attitude and tells us she will send the manager to talk it over with us. Manager comes by our table after another 15-minute period of twiddling our thumbs while our disappointing food sat in front of us. Manager, who appears overly-sympathetic towards us, states, "very sorry about your steaks tonight...sometimes, it just doesn't work out...". REALLY? You're a fu*king steakhouse!!! At this point, I was so agitated and upset with the whole experience, I pay the bill (he only comp'd my steak entree, not my girlfriend's), and made sure to leave a 10% tip for such abysmal service. The experience somewhat tarnished my view of Outback steakhouse, although I'm sure I will continue going from time to time, NEVER AGAIN TO THIS LOCATION!

Although I'm not typically a fan of restaurant chains, I really like this place. I have never had a bad meal here. From the warm pumpernickel loaf of bread on the table, to the drinks...I'm am a fan! My favorite salad dressing is the honey mustard; which is amazing! Of course, the steaks are always perfectly done, as well as the seafood. I also like the rare tuna entree, which is a great choice if you're trying to eat lite. The piece DE resistance... sweet potato fries. I have to say, that these are the absolute best fries of this kind... EVER! The last time I was here I had them, and now I crave the fort nightly, just like the Colonel's chicken...oooh, that Colonel and his wee beady eyes!

I gotta say the Chicken on a Barbie here is just superb. That combines with Aussie fries and seasoned rice makes for a perfect dinner. If your looking to relax a more, try ordering a wine, that along with a great dinner will help relieve the tension of the work day. Great atmosphere and good food.

Although it's a chain, I'm rating this place highly because: (1) the service was great and (2) the NY strip was pretty tasty. It's attached to a hotel, so I had low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised - and grateful. Thanks.

Standard Chain Restaurant! Not good, not bad! I get very disappointed with these types of places. They have the ability, resources and know how to knock the ball out of the park! But when your always looking at the yields, food costs, bar costs, saving every fork that makes it into the garbage can. You tend to lose focus on what's really important and that the customer experience. Hostess made no eye contact and was frustrated. The lady that took us to our table was amazing! Loved her job and wanted to get promoted to server. Our server was overwhelmed with other customers and other folks took our drink order and brought bread to the the table. She was nice but very busy! Food was an interesting mix of things! Ribs were good! Bacon Cheeseburger was excellent! Salmon was good! Filet was not so good, looked more like a Sirloin! and tasted as such! Presentation was bad, plates looked rushed and food was slopped on the plate!

I like this restaurant for a variety of reasons: 1. It is conveniently located. 2. It is also located on the first floor of a hotel, so many peole miss it and it is rarely crowded. 3. The waitstaff if pleasant. 4. The parking lot is quite spacious. 5. We waited 30 minutes for a table on Mother's Day without having a reservation and got free appetizers while we waited! (other places quoted a 2 hour wait) Outback has quite a bit of a different dining experience. The servers don't stand and look down at you, but rather, crouch down to eye level. I found this odd the first time I went, but it makes sense- it creates a laid back atmosphere. And besides, I certainly don't want to be looking up anyone's nostrils as I'm placing my order. The food is tasty and well priced. There are not very many chicken options and I am not a big red meat eater, but since I do not go out to dinner very often, I can order a nice juicy steak while I'm there. The ribs are excellent. They are tender and fall off the bone. The appetizers are also very tasty, but I stay away from those, as they have a tendency to ruin a week's worth of going to the gym.

  • Liz A.

To start, I really wouldn't call this a steakhouse. The majority of the menu items are fillers, whilst just having a few steak options. I'm sorry, but...no T-Bone!! Are you kidding me? The only steak with a bone in it was the $23 Porterhouse. I'm sorry, but when I'm in the mood for a steak, I need something to naw on. ...It's a personal thing. I digress. The soups were all from cans; too thick, heavy and salty. All the side items were soaked in a layer of oil. There seemed to be cheese on everything and it was the cheap cheese that's tasteless and squeaks on your teeth when you chew. Our server was very nice though and the wine was surprisingly delicious.

I'm usually not a big fan of the chain restaurants, but I love Outback. It's a no frills steakhouse where you can get your fill of charred meat without putting a huge dent in your wallet. I usually order the Outback special. You can get a 15oz steak, for $16.00. On the Andy, Steak-O-Meter scale, It's about a 6.5 out of 10. You do get what you pay for at Outback. The food is pretty consistent for all of the locations that I have visited and I have always had prompt and friendly service. The bottom line is that if you have a hankering for a decent steak, and don't want to take out a second Mortgage on your house, head on down to your local outback. You will walk out with a tummy filled with charred goodness.

It's an outback... I had the pasta which was an Alfredo like sauce. It wasn't terrible but there was an off flavor to it... Not an off flavor like rotten cream, but more of a dark burnt nutty flavor...

I've been to a few Outbacks and they're all the same - quite consistent. Service is always excellent and the staff is attentive and responsive. The grade of the meat isn't prime and some cuts can be pretty tough, but the steaks are always well prepared, the pork chops are flavorful, and the ribs are about as good as you can get in any American restaurant that doesn't specialize in BBQ ribs. However, make no mistakes in thinking this is an Australian restaurant despite some the links you'll find on the net if you google "Australian restaurants, Chicago." None of the founders has ever been to Australia and, although there are Outback restaurants in some Australian cities they are considered by the Aussies to be American steak houses - courtesy of my cousin's Aussie wife.

If I could give this place "zero" stars - I would!!! We are totally spoiled due to the awesome service and food we always receive at our local Outback on Alpine Avenue in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The manager, Shannon or someone in management always stops by your table to see how things are and we've come to expect great things. We came to Chicago to visit a friend on July 3, 2013 who was here on vacation from California. I absolutely love Outback ~ it is my favorite restaurant!!! However, if this was my first visit to an Outback Restaurant, it certainly wouldn't be. We ordered 2 apps - the coconut shrimp and, of course, a Bloomin' Onion. The shrimp was delicious. However, the Onion was tiny, burnt and falling apart. Seriously, a "trade-mark" and you serve it that way? Our server informed us that they were having issues at the app station in the kitchen, so we kind of let it slide once we were informed that we would not be charged for the Onion. We seemed to wait quite a while for our food, and just as I was about to ask if there was a problem, it appears. Our guest had ordered the Flight meal - and ordered it medium rare. I ordered the Rib-Eye medium rare. Both of them came out at medium, closer to medium-well!! We sent them back and this time hers came out okay, but mine was raw! Yes, raw and still cold inside it!!!! So, back it went. By this time, I had eaten my salad, potato and appetizers, and truthfully, wasn't even hungry enough to finish my meal; so I was going to take whatever I didn't eat with me. It came out almost rare this time (but at least I would be able to heat it up and get it to the proper temp). And the worst part is, we never saw a manager at our table!!!! It is unthinkable that someone would have this much trouble with their order and not see a manager. Our server tells us that "its the holiday and no one wanted to work, so we have the 'D' staff working". Guess what, that's not my fault! And then, I actually contact Outback Steakhouse on their website, I wrote a tripadvisor review, and then I read some of the other reviews on Yelp and realize that this manager doesn't call anyone back; so now I don't feel so bad, because they still have not contacted me!!!!! We will never return to THIS Outback! It was absolutely, horrid!!!!!

It's a chain. It's like every Outback I've ever visited. One gets exactly what one would expect to get at Outback. I would add though that our server here was particularly good. Partner commented more than once on how impressed he was with her service.

I love the onion! and the steaks are not too bad.. nice beer. The only bad thing for me is that they open after 3... (WHY??) and the parking lot, kind of difficult to get in and out. Very good service!

This is my "go to" restaurant before heading over to Muvico for a movie night. The place is clean, the wait staff is attentive, and nothing beats the chocolate thunder from down under. On busy days, there is a bit of a parking problem, but I am used to parking at the tight corners past the sign post.

My buddies and I went here on a coin toss. Hooters or OB's. Since we were hungry, we opted for Outback The service was just OK. The staff were very friendly, but our waiter kept forgetting to bring our request for more bread. Not a deal breaker. The French Onion soup was to die for. I ordered a 11 oz Steak and Shrimp. They brought me a 8 oz steak, and shrimp so small, I could swear it was popcorn shrimp. Just being funny, but in the commercials..the shrimp and steak look HUGE. Then again, a Big Mac looks awesome on TV and pukey in real life. Would go back again, but only if Hooters was too packed.

This branch of the Outback Steakhouse is next to a hotel and just off the expressway. It's a good place to go if you are saddled with a couple of picky eaters. I have never had the Bloomin' Onion (because of one of the said picky eaters), so we compromised with fried mushrooms that were actually pretty good. The complimentary mini-bread loaves are tasty. My cup of French onion soup was surprisingly good, and my filet slathered over mashed potatoes was satisfying. I ordered a Cooper's Lager, an Australian beer that I've never encountered but did the trick that evening. The dessert I ate was a Sydney's Sinful Sundae with toasted coconut, chocolate syrup and sliced strawberries. It was good but not necessary. Overall the meal was good but not great, and that's all that matters when you are with a group of picky eaters.

So where I'm from chain restaruants reign supreme! So when my mom came to town I took her here to eat. Everything from our food to our service was great! Cant say I would come here very often but its great to come someplace that reminds my mom of home a lil bit.

Good customer service. Good food. Odd parking lot. I've been to this Outback both as a regular customer, when my boyfriend's grandmother's birthday dinner was here, and as a hotel guest for a friend's birthday. I've had good customer service both times, and no complaints about the food. The waitstaff handled antsy toddlers with patience when we dined in. And the waitstaff handled sleep-deprived 20-somethings when we carried out to our hotel room. I do wish they delivered food to the hotel rooms so you don't have to put on regular clothes if you get the munchies while you're in your jammies. But hey, at least they have massive cheese fries. Those cheese fries are worth getting dressed for. My only real complaint here is the parking lot. There's not much to be done about it, they've worked with the limited space they have. But you have to drive under/around these poles, and if another car's coming, watch out. It's also a very, very long parking lot with not much handicapped parking. So if you're not in the hotel guest parking, be prepared for a hike. But then you just start thinking about those cheese fries, and the hike's not so bad.

I had a craving for surf & turf tonight. So, I had a 10 ounce ribeye and s lobster tail. Came with a stuffed potato. My food was great. The hubby had the honey mustard chicken breast. It was dried out and leathery. We ended up splitting my entree. Service is quick and efficient here.

It's a chain so don't expect too much from a recipe catered to the masses. I had the filet scampi potatoes and don't think I finished it on account of the heaviness of the sauce.

My view of Australian food is still all Crocodile Dundee and Fosters beer. Simple and direct. The idea of a restaurant centered around the Australian cultural institution of the BBQ seems a home run, right? Well, they got some of it right. The staff is friendly just like most of the folks I've met from down under. The ambiance is simple and direct, and has the right feel even if I can't particularly say it meets my Australian experience. They do have Fosters, though every Australian I've ever met says they'd rather drink horse piss. The food is all classic surf and turf BBQ style fare. The seasonings are pretty good, but nothing really complex in flavor. Its easy enough to imagine yourself at a backyard BBQ eating this stuff. However the quality is well... a little backyard BBQ as well. Meat is fine by cheap steakhouse standards, but if you've ever been to an upper tier place you'll find it wanting. Same thing with all the other dishes. Simple food in good quantity for a descent price. Think of going over to your buddy's house who is a pretty good cook and you'll get the whole theme. Recently Outback changed their menu to a more "freedom" style. Gone are many of the numerous combos. Sure you can still add shrimp or a lobster tail to a steak, but it lacks a little direction and weakens the theme I think. I also feel less like I'm getting nickled and dimed when I order a combo instead of having everything ala carte. I can't say if its a plus or minus to the average joe, but I liked it better the old way. A couple issue particular to this outback- The parking kind of sucks. Its rarely full, but the lot it narrow and hard to navigate. Don't bring your suburban here and expect to park. Its attached to a hotel. Nothing wrong with that normally, but I'm not a big fan of hotel restaurants.

Frozen Margaritas are not good, they're like Italian ice! No alcohol at all, outback special steak is clean cut, tender no fat, but it had no flavor, the grilled lobster tails were tasty but so small it was sad! The mashed potatoes tasted like dirt. Garlic grilled shrimp tasted go but a little salty. Service was very good!! Prices are decent You have to take the good with the bad on this one!

This had been one of our favorite restaurants for many many years because it was pretty good quality and very affordable. It's still very affordable but the quality has gone way way downhill. It has gotten so bad that it is borderline inedible. My wife used to always order a Shrimp Griller (Shrimp skewer with rice and grilled vegetables). They no longer offer this so she ordered a skewer ala carte and a side of rice. The Shrimp smelled fishy and tasted off like they possibly had gone bad. Neither of us could stomach them. My NY Strip Steak was tiny in size and completely bland and very poor quality. I couldn't eat it and we both left hungry and sad. Looks like Outback is off our list.

Where to start.... I had the shrimp/steak special and it was horrible at best. The shrimp were not fresh. They smelled and were very tough. The steak was even worse, the "fillet" was as flat as a hamburger and tasteless. I never get my steak butterflied, but I guess the kitchen/server doesn't bother to ask the customer. Bad experience, will not be back.

The dine-in service was lousy and food was not great. The portions have gotten smaller and there is no attention to detail. Also, I think they're trying to give me a heart attack with the amount of salt on everything. One hundred bucks for 3 people to eat - next time we'll go to the buffet at the casino in DesPlaines. By the way, who else hates when the server sits down next to you to take your order? I'm sorry, did I invite you into my personal space? No thank you! That's just weird.

It's Outback, not Ruth's Criss you idiots! Overall, ya gotta love a bloomin onion now and again. This place is overall pretty cramped, especially by the front door (a revolving door leads to a narrow sort-of hallway - check in desk to the left but this hallway is also the passageway for the bathrooms). This cramped space makes it not exactly the best Outback one has ever been to. Really, did they have to cram this in? Well, I went there, got halfway decent service too so I can't complain too loud. Seeing as I'd go back, I should say that I really should give it 2.5 stars but the layout is awful and the strange parking situation was a little worse.

Outback is the McDonald's of the steakhouse world. It's cheap (compared to, say, Chicago Chophouse), you know exactly what you're getting into, and you can be in and out relatively quickly. My roommate and I were both craving steak on Saturday night, so we hopped in the car and went to the nearest Outback - the one on Higgins. Our main issue here was with the server, who first - assumed my roommate was about 15, and then - threw a friggin math problem at me. I am here to eat steak and drink a margarita, not do math. But I'll get back to him. Our margaritas were awesome, and totally necessary. Our bloomin onion was AMAZING and salty and totally bad for you but also fantastic. Our steaks were awesome (I get a fillet with blue cheese cooked medium...pretty much everywhere I go) and the sides were alright (potatoes, great. green beans, not so great). But our server overheard us talking about working in restaurants, and after learning that my roommate and I were both in the industry, decided we were all best friends. He crouched down by our table conspiratorially and whispered that the table behind us (they were still AT THE TABLE, btw) were crappy tippers and had all but stiffed him. It was one of the more awkward moments I've ever had in a restaurant. Now, don't get me wrong. The food was solid (sides were iffy, but we weren't there for green beans, we were there for steak & bloomin onion, and those were good). The service was prompt. We were there for less than an hour, which was pretty much what we were going for. But kvetching about your tips to another table? Tacky tacky tacky, and totally left a bad taste in my mouth.

I went to Outback Steakhouse a few months ago after coming back from my trip from Minneapolis. My aunt and uncle took me here. The only problem we ran into was the cold air from the vent above us in the middle of April. Why would you run the AC in the middle of April? So we moved to another table and after that everything was great from there. I ordered a delicious burger which I would go back and order again. The service was great as well.

Well what can you say about chains like Outback. They are pretty consistent with what they do and personally I'm not a big fan in general. This one was what you'd expect and I'd give it a standard three stars but they get an extra star for their service. Staff was pretty nice and attentive and the Manager that night, Sayeh Naddaf, was super friendly and checked in on me personally. Maybe I looked outta place or they were nervous about me or something ut whatever it was I enjoyed the courtesy and teamwork.

Returned last night with my daughter and her wonderful young man, another real good server,"bloomin onion", a couple of cocktails (me) and three orders of steak and snow crab, delish!!!. Finished off with a desert who's name I forgot. $83, all together plus a $20. tip. Pretty damn good for 3 people about to explode with leftovers in hand. Don't know if I'll be back before I leave but this is a real nice weekly steakhouse. Kudos!

I give the place 4 stars for our waiter! He was prompt, not to pushy and when it came to our food he made sure it was exactly right before he brought it out! The food was good and the drinks were amazing but when we got home our stomachs weren't in the best of shapes! 2 pikes later we were back on track! Lol not sure I'd the food did it but it will be our last time visiting!

This Outback is housed inside a Marriott Springhill Suites, but it is the same size as a normal Outback. The staff is friendly enough, but the two times we ate there, it took longer than expected for our meals to arrive. P.S. At the bar, they have a margarita machine that looks like a slurpee machine, so if you're hankering for a little al-key-hol, enjoy!

Went here to celebrate my day after birthday dinner for the first time. I expected a party of 9..but due to some circumstances...we ended up being a party of 4. So I'm kinda bummed and just looking forward to a great dinner. We get seated right away, which was nice. Our server introduces herself rite away and gets us started with drinks and our appetizer. The margarita was kinda warm....Y? but I let the ice kinda mix up and finally gets better. The bread is awesome...be careful not to eat too much of you'll never make it to your main course...especially if you get the bloomn onion. I get the new york strip cooked med-well and a lobster tail with garlic mashed potatoes and clam chowder soup. The soup was really good. The tail was good but so tiny. The potatoes were good, but it was just another filler. The steak was tasty but on the dry side. I think my steaks from the grocery store are much better. The bill wasn't too bad for the 4 of us. I guess I'll have to try and have my steak a lil less done to see if that fixes the dry steak. If that fails....I'll have to skip on this joint. and cook my own steaks at home for half the price!

Outback is a very average place to me. The steaks are OK but nothing too great. I actually like the salad and the soup they had more than the main meal that I ate~
