I won a free meal for myself and 6 friends through their business card drawing. I just figured it was a free bowl...didn't expect the 5 STAR TREATMENT! (really, at NOODLES??!!) They treated us like we were honored guests, and staff was so kind and accomodating! Several staff kept checking on us (and we were sitting outside, mind you) , they were genuine and helpful. We got appetizers to share, our choice of bowls, a side, AND dessert! They also refused tips!-Not sure if it's policy or not, but regardless...Great experience!

The service at this location of Noodles & Company is outstanding. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and they really do go above and beyond in their efforts to provide outstanding customer service. In fact, the lovely staff is what makes this one of the better Noodles & Company locations in the city. They smile when they greet you and they actual pay attention to you, listen, and answer your questions. I have seen them quickly handle problems that arise (a member of my group didn't get the tofu they had requested with their dish - a new plate was prepared for them in no time) and show great patience with difficult customers. In addition to the great staff, this location is incredibly convenient and is right next to the Southport brown line stop. There also appears to be plenty of street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. This makes it easy to stop for dinner or pop in and grab lunch to go (you can order in advance through their website, let them know when you will be there, and your food will be ready and waiting). The food itself, although tasty, is over priced. A small plate of pasta from what is essentially a fast food place should not cost $10 or more, but I cough up the cash because I am paying for the sweet, sweet convenience of it all. I really like that you can customize your dish by adding extra ingredients (extra spinach and mushrooms for me) or requesting ingredients be left out (no onion, please). I love the Penne Rosa because it has just the right amount of heat in the spicy tomato sauce, and it always taste fresh and flavorful (try adding the chicken to fill out the meal). Finally, just about anyone can eat here. They have options for meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans. In addition to pasta, there is salad, sandwiches, and soup. Gluten free? They will use their rice noodles in place of regular noodles in almost any dish. Do you have food allergies like I do? Check out their website for allergen information.

So I used to come by this location pretty frequently - until lately. I headed to Noodles for a to go order after a long tennis match - I am literally covered in sweat and dying of thirst. I place my to go order and ask for a to go cup for water. I am handed this itty bitty cup - Noodles has never been annoying in this area - they always gave a normal size cup. Not this time... I was so annoyed and asked specifically for a normal size cup. He said no - no explanation - no smile. Just "No". Okay, thanks! I go to the noodles next week on Clybourn and they give me the normal size water cup. What is the deal with this location? If they sold good bottled water - I would have no problem buying it. This won't be a post work out dinner option any more.

Another soft opening?!?! I'll take it! I love Noodles & Company and think it's a huge step up from other fast food noodle counterparts (Fazoli's, anyone?!). I like the smallness and simplicity of the menu, but the creativity of the dishes and the ability to fit anyone's palette. As usual, I ended up going with a grown-up mac n' cheese dish, full of tomatoes, bread crumbs, bacon, and meatball-y goodness! The friendly employee at the counter insisted that, since it was the soft opening and everything was free, it would be a good idea to throw on a bread, a side salad, and a free dessert. Sure, I'll take it! I was pretty hungry, but the portions are pretty substantial, and I couldn't quite finish everything. I saved my cookie for later :) This location also has the pop machine of the future. Seriously. It's this giant chrome looking thing with every type of pop you can imagine, and every type of flavor you could ever imagine there being for pop. I am sold solely because they have every freaking flavor of Fanta possible. STRAWBERRY FANTA!!! Muy delicioso! My one critique is that, since the restaurant is small, the pop machine is located in a corner right next to the counter. Since it was busy today, the line for the pop machine crossed in front of the registers, and it was a slight traffic jam. Apparently this place is a much-needed fast food option for all the people who live and work on Southport. Nearly every person who saw me with my to-go cup asked if it was open to the public yet. Sorry, guys, you gotta wait a couple days... but go hungry, and leave happy!

My business card was drawn to win a free dinner for me and up to 5 friends. Staff easily coordinated my reservation and Jayme was particularly accommodating, by taking not only our food orders, but our wine orders, and even offering complimentary dessert samples! Jayme's service was outstanding and I would definitely return to this location!

This is where people go when they've given up. They are tired, hungry, have just gotten off the L, and would shovel garbage into their mouth just to fill their stomach for the sake of convenience. And that's what Noodles offers: hot, convenient garbage. And I know what it's like to give up, to be too tired to care about flavor or quality. I've eaten here three times out of desperation. The meatballs were burned from being on steam tray - or whatever they use to keep them warm - too long; the rubbery consistency of the meatballs suggests they are frozen. Another time I had the mac & cheese, it was really mac & yellow water. It is honestly depressing how many people I see in here, forlornly shoveling steamed cardboard into their mouths. This place is just one step above eating dog food off the sidewalk. It is the fact that it is a "restaurant" that allows one to preserve some of their dignity. Please, don't give in to despair! Persevere and walk one more block to better options.

Opening in a few days! - This NEW location is off the Southport stop on the Brown Line! Was able to come to this spot today (03/31/12) because Noodles & Company had an invitational Pre-opening, and anything we had ordered was free! We didn't go overboard, instead we tried new food-the Cheeseburger (bits of meatball, tomato, green onion, parmesan, & bacon with mac & cheese)Mac & Cheese and it was yummy! PROS: Parking: We drove there, and parked a few blocks away (no permit pass needed) Train: Southport off the Brown Line is RIGHT across the street. Enthusiastic cashier-who was very patient with my boyfriend and I while we chose something new to eat, who answered all of our questions with a smile and politeness. Pop/Soda: They have this fancy new (to me!) pop dispenser-where you could make DOZENS of concoctions-through a touch screen: Fanta Raspberry, Fanta Grape, Coke Lime, Hi-C Strawberry, Dansani-flavored water, etc. It takes a while to check out all the options, but then it's really quick! Food: Noodle dishes that you can customize any way you want- Yes I want extra mushrooms, or No I don't want any garlic! The parmesan chicken is THE Best! My boyfriend had The Stroganoff, and didn't really care for it--an employee came by when we were done eating, and offered that next time that happens-that we bring it back to the front and ask for something different-What a nice thing to say, and to help us out for next time! We've loved the Cheeseburger Mac, the baguette/ciabatta rolls, chicken noodle soup (big pieces of chicken!), Pesto Cavatappi, & Butter Noodles. Happy employees who made sure all guests had what they needed, offering boxes for us to take home our meal in. Yes, I love getting free food, but I also really like Noodles & Company in general-though it is about $18 when my boyfriend and I go to eat-and that's 2 regular dishes, with 2 proteins, 2 rolls, and 1 pop. I wish there were more 'deals' that they offered throughout the year-even a $3.00 off coupon would make me super happy! CONS: Directed to Noodles & Company more-so: Menu Location: the Large menu choices you have hanging to the RIGHT of the counter/cashier really need to be to the LEFT of the cashier so people can read all the choices before they order! it really makes no sense to have everyone get in line, and then have to walk to the RIGHT to read the menu, and then walk back to order. That seems a bit of a cluster-mess. Also-at other locations I have seen handy menus before one orders, so you can figure out what you want ahead of ordering. Some kinks to work out perhaps, or just my opinion.

This is my boyfriend and my favorite place to celebrate the little things in life, like his birthday. This location has become our go-to and while at first we weren't completely won over, it's grown on us. The staff is friendly, appreciative, and make pretty good noodles. It's not anything too fancy, but the way their expanding is fun and making it a lot more accessible for any type of meal. We had wine the last time we visited and I hope they expand their selection, but it was really great service. Not to mention, the only time I had a problem they were prompt at responding the my emails and offering all the help the could. Incredible customer service (especially for a big chain). Now, if you're still debating, go get the mac n' cheese, because it's absolutely delicious (there's something about their cheese combo!).

I don't love this place as much as others do. Don't get me wrong...the food is certainly good. But....I think it is WAY overpriced for what it is. Also, I don't like the chicken and can tell that it is frozen. I've tried a lot of the menu options and just have never been that crazy about anything I tried. Between noodles and co and the potbelly across the street..I'd go to potbelly. The pop machine is amazing though.

What makes Noodles & Company awesome is that it's got a great menu for people with allergies (gluten free, dairy, vegan). What makes it just "ok" is that the staff can't seem to execute on these special allergy-specific ways to cook their food. I got one of the Italian noodles dishes and just asked for it without the cream, which is one of the ways to get the meal nondairy. And yet the dish came out with cream all over it. It took another 5 minutes to get another dairy-free version of the meal, and it came out slightly underdone because I think they got flustered. It's super annoying to have expectations high with these awesome menus and then unable to execute it in a streamlined manner. Once they get that figured out, this would be an awesome, high-value place to eat.

I love Noodles and Company, but they should stop advertising that they deliver. I live 0.5 miles away from this location and they told me I was outside of their zone. Their zone is as far north as Grace and as far south as Wellington but only as far east as Seminary. That means they will deliver north and south but not east and west? Idiotic. STOP ADVERTISING THAT YOU DELIVER IF YOU'RE ONLY GOING TO DELIVER TO PEOPLE ON YOUR STREET.

For a big chain this is one of my favorites. I always get the penne roso of the mac and cheese. Sooo good.

Japanese Udon with shrimp for the win! Super friendly staff and a great location, steps away from the Southport Brown line. They also have a really rad/futuristic soda machine that has cherry vanilla coke and cherry vanilla Dr. Pepper. Score!

Noodles & Company... why do people love you so? We've dated a few times now, but I think we should see other people. You see, you're bland, and boring - and your place is always a pigsty. My momma always told me that if you're going to eat out, it should in turn should taste better than eating in. This just isn't the case. You're a great person - but I have to say goodbye. Pro's: Friendly Staff Con's: Bland Food Dirty Restaurant Food that you can do better at home

Management refused to honor a buy one get one free offer they had a sign there for. Good food, but shady management.

I've been to Noodles more times than I care to count, and this location is the best. We received absolutely impeccable service on 7/23, and the food was SO delicious. Tried something new, and was very happy with it. Will definitely be back, and very soon!

Three strikes you're out, Southport location! Here's the thing: I love this chain. I have my go-to meal, I know exactly how I like it, and I ADORE it. I could seriously eat penne rosa at least once a week and not get tired of it. My problem? This location just doesn't execute the dish properly! They don't cook it anywhere close to the suburban/Broadway/Champaign locations' standards. They skimp - and the result is a dry, boring dish that makes me not want to return. The main problem: NOT ENOUGH SAUCE. I thought maybe the problem (the first and second time I visited) was that I added a protein (tofu), so I ordered a SMALL version of the dish, hoping less pasta would equal a greater sauce-to-pasta ratio. NOT SO. Not only was there not enough sauce, but there was ONE MUSHROOM SLICE in the whole dish. It was just a bunch of dry, sad pasta and tofu. I'm not giving up on this chain... but I have to say goodbye to this location. Too bad - it's such a great spot! DELIVERY ASIDE: Once I got their famed bike delivery - I think it was the second time I ordered. At the time, I lived TWO BLOCKS away (I had a hurt foot - I promise I wasn't that lazy)! The food arrived FORTY MINUTES LATER, COLD. Sadface.

Thank you to Gabby for a great evening of delish food! Your service was top notch and so was the food. I will be back and would recommend this location to others for sure. I always thought noodles only had pasta options. I was able to get a healthy portion of hummus and veggies as well as a wrap.

Food was great got the spaghetti and meatballs and it was ready extremely fast. The order taker was very friendly and the staff seemed to really know what they were doing compared to other noodles I have been to before. Would definitely recommend this southport location to anyone looking to grab a quick bite but still get a very tasty meal.

This location needs some serious HELP! When I stopped in on a Friday their were two cooks and one cashier. Peoples trash was everywhere, not sure if there was a clean table in the place. Everything was in disarray and their communication was horrible As it took me 15 minutes to get my food and there were only three others ahead of me. I normally don't go to Noodles anyways because I believe it is overpriced however, I definitely won't be back to this location.

This location is near where I work, so I have visited this location many times. I walked in today to grab lunch on my break and the place was FILTHY. Not only were most of the tables dirty, but it took over 20 minutes for my weird hot salad to be prepared. Not quick service or clean service which is what I would expect from this over priced chain. Hire more folks for this location & things might improve. I will never return or be a customer of noodles again. The employee I dealt with was very nice but over all I am VERY disappointed.

Fast and consistent quality. I ordered the regular sized Mac and cheese but I think she took that to mean the larger one ... Unless the small is larger than I remember. Mac and cheese with parm crusted chicken is so good when you're having a crummy day! So yummy! Put sriracha on it to really bump up the flavor (they have tons by the drink stuff!)

I've always been weary of stepping into one of these locations because I once was hit by their outdoor umbrellas at the Old Orchard location. I have learned to forgive and walked in on my lunch as Potbelly's was extremely packed. I walked into an extremely clean location. The cashier was very friendly and didn't mind that I took my time reviewing the menu. I ordered the Mac & Cheese, even though I knew that I wanted some protein. Oh well. Anyhow, they bring the bowl to your table which is really nice of them. The noodles were perfect, not overcooked and not under-cooked. It also had shavings of cheddar on top which is great, more cheese please. It was actually very tasty and enough for two people. I will definitely try them again.

Sooo sloooow . . . Double or triple the time at your parking meter, otherwise this location will cost you a parking ticket with incredibly slow service. Today, we stopped in to get a couple of bowls of soup to go. Twenty minutes later, they were finally ready! And this isn't unusual at all. None of the staff seems the least bit concerned about the time they're taking to prepare the food. And they won't have to be concerned at all once people stop coming altogether. Once I ordered meals for our family of five to go. After waiting at least 20/25 minutes for the food, I got all the way home and discovered that one of the meals was missing. When I called Noodles & Co to ask what happened, the girl who packed our order replied, "Oh yeah. I forgot that one." No apology. No offer to deliver the forgotten meal (they don't deliver). Just a suggestion that I come back and get the forgotten meal. The only reason why I give two stars is because the food is decent.

I love Noodles. Seriously one chain that I'm a big fan of. I've stopped by this one a handful of times and had solid service. I did order from grub hub for the first time tonight. I was super underwhelmed by it. I always order mac n cheese. By the time it got to me everything was cooling down and the cheese had not been mixed in. I ended up with a blob of super cheesy noodles and a lot of noodles with nothing on them. Yes-I warmed it up. But it still was not the same.

I loved Noodles before -- so much so that I would seek out Noodles locations when I traveled for business and wanted cheap and good eats. Now that I live about a 10 minute walk from this location and know that there are numerous locations in Chicagoland, I'm a happy camper. I'm even happier since a friend won the business card drawing. Several of us met for the win last week. Two apps, entrees for all with drinks and dessert...we were full when all was said and done. We were treated so well! Gladys was amazing! She made the whole ordering process so easy and was very attentive to our needs. The manager, Jasmine, was great as well. I'm a semi-regular here anyhow but was extra impressed by the service during my most recent visit.

Awful food. I wish these stupid chains would stay off of Southport! It's ruining the atmosphere. I hear they had some serious problems with cockroaches and dirt during a recent health inspection. Stay away!

I like Noodles & Co, I think they're a huge step up from other fast food joints. They offer healthier options, and you can basically pick and choose what you want. Mac n'cheese, pad Thai, spaghetti and meatballs....if it involves some form of pasta, chances are they probably have it. They also have soups, salads, flatbreads, and sandwiches. Sandwiches come with either 1/2 soup or salad as a side. Everything can be customized, and you can even get gluten free or whole wheat pasta as a substitute. They also usually have different themes for each month, this month they had a Thai hot pot, which was lovely. Huge portion (just like all of their entrees!) Lots of mushrooms and other veggies, with a curry broth and rice noodles. I also really like their Asian chicken salad! I frequent this location as well as the lakeview/Broadway one. At both, the service is outstanding, they always are so friendly and helpful. They go above and beyond, and always offer great suggestions! They also have a really great e-club program, they send you all kinds of great coupons.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
