Not bad for the price. Delivery is usually pretty quick.

Never been to the actual restaurant, but have ordered food from here several times. I have to say that I've not had a bad experience yet. One of the joys of delivery is that it comes to your house and you don't have to leave it. The downside is that if you order fried food (why WOULDN'T you?), if the restaurant packages it wrong, it's cold or the condensation has stuck to the food and it's vaguely damp in a really unpleasant way. All the food that I've ordered from these guys has shown up hot, crispy, and not gross. Basically, these are the only local guys I order from if I want crispy fried food delivered to my house.

My go-to gyro place. I live in uptown and these are the best gyros in my delivery area. Their jalapeno poppers are alright, and their shakes are great, but made with soft serve for the picky out there. Their italian beef is better than most delivery places, but the real star here is the gyro. Order it. Eat it. Be happy.

    (5)
  • Keri M.

Everything is so delicious. They make it on spot and have a crazy wide range of stuff. I never thought somewhere could have that much stuff and be that good. The gyro was amazing, loved the Italian beef and the lasagna is to die for!

Pizza sold by the slice. Slice combos available as well with fries and drink for about $6 plus tax. Char foods tend to be the favorite here as are the chicken gyros, delivery guys come and go often. I had a burger combo recently and well, it was nothing special. A frozen patty with a nice bun and toppings that left a heavy feeling in my belly hours after digestion. A bit too expensive but its convenience food.

I'm fairly positive that the chicken included in a chicken gyros comes from a rubber chicken. Stay away. My son enjoyed his hot dog and I liked the sauce that came with the chicken nuggets.

So I ordered from here this week and the delivery guy came in like 15 minutes. Food was delicious. This place is really clean and consistent.

Our go to place for gyros in Irving park neighborhood. Generous portions & fries made to order. Has a small indoor seating area, ambiance isn't that nice but food is made to order and tastes good. Wait time is pretty short, good for a quick bite to eat.

I just happened to look at my Grubhub history recently and I've ordered from Munchies a ridiculous amount. Their gyros are great, that's usually my go-to. Otherwise, it's their grilled chicken pita. It's super moist and flavorful. I've also had their pizza puff and a bunch of other gross/delicious appetizers. All great. Their shakes are made with soft serve, which is ok, but if you're picky like me you will want to know that. The only main complaint I'd say is that their pizza is not the greatest, nor is their turkey sub/grinder. But I don't think that this is a place "known" for those things. So seriously, looking for cheap, quick, and delicious? This is the place.

It's your average fish and chips shack, but with better service. I placed my order online and got carried away, they called to check on me and made sure I had fresh food when I finally came to pick it up. Can't go wrong with: patty melt / perch dinner / chocolate malt

Munchies is our go to when we want a tasty gyro delivered to the house. The food is pretty good but what really makes this place stand out to us is the delivery driver in the evening/night. I wish I knew his name because he always is so friendly when making the delivery.

    (4)
  • Sean F.

The food here is amazing and the staff are all great. I order from here A LOT and I have to say the best thing on the menu is their chicken breast on pita combo. The chicken is always tender and has a nice light charring for great flavor. Keep up the good work guys and I won't stop ordering.

My buddy & I came in for a quick bite the other night. This is your typical Chicago hot dog joint, I didn't see anything on the menu to separate itself from other places with the same fare except maybe a milkshake flavor or 2. The cheeseburger I had was average, not very flavorful & cheese fries were about the same. I like their name, but my expectations are always high when a place names themselves after a commonly used stoner term & they didn't meet those expectations. I would stop by for a peanut butter shake though since the price was right!

Just ordered delivery! Was in the mood for good, simple cheese pizza. Found this place through eat24. Pizza was cheap! Delivery was fast! Pizza was just what I wanted! That cheesey, gooey, slightly greasy pics pizza hit the spot. Delivery guy was very nice, great demeanor and nice (vs. Guys who seemed burdened to be at your door) really pleased! Thanks guys!

I decided in ordering from this place, given the great deals and somewhat versatile menu.I ordered cheeseburger for my mother and philly cheese steak for myself. Both items were from the combo special area and both my mother and I enjoyed our food . Definitely will order again.

Worst gyro I've ever had. My father owned a restaurant with "Staple Chicago Food." Never had a gyro so undercooked. Didn't feel well after. Also, the girl who took our order was rude on the phone & in person.

    (1)
  • Tasha M.

Pretty decent food for the price... The staff is usually friendly and almost always greets you when you walk through the door. I personally like the gyro and polish(deep fried with raw onions)

  • Victoria K.

I have picked up food from here before and it was ok. Tonight I ordered delivery. I was given a delivery time of one hour. 90 minutes later still no food! So I called and was told it would be there in a few minutes there were a lot of orders ahead of me. I waited another half hour. Finally two hours after I ordered my food arrived. The driver said they were short handed. Frankly not my problem. Either warn people of the wait or staff correctly. You can only imagine how the food was when it arrived. The fries were cold and soggy and the sandwich was cold. I would never order. From here again!

  • Monique P.

All I've ever ordered from here is the gyro plate, which I keep ordering. I always get delivery. It is relatively fast and the gyro plate is perfect. It has never been greasy, which is impressive for fast food!

  • Kati M.

Perfect for the late night drunk munchies, or the morning after hung over stumble. It's not the best place in the world but it serves a purpose and it does it well. Delivery time is always quicker than anticipated with the same sub-par, kind of ride driver, but when I get my Munchies and More I completely forget about anything else. I dunno, I totally recommend this place to my close friends and strangers at parties and they've never been disappointed.

Nothing ruins lunch like a big ol' mouthful of spoiled tzatziki.

This is a typical Chicago gyro-hot dog-hoagie place, and I love it. They are always friendly and the service has always been quick. They accommodate special requests (seriously, who orders grilled cheese on a pita? Me. And not only do they do it, they do it well). This isn't gourmet, but when you're craving grease and you're in the neighborhood, it's a great option. Prices are reasonable, and there is a small parking lot. Hop next door to Capone's for some craft beer and you're evening is all set.

  • Karmin A.

This place is great! I've ordered from Munchies a number of times, and always been very happy. I LOVE the chicken sandwich (on pita) their grilled chikcen salad with oil and vinager is also amazing (very tasty chicken) gyros is deelish and I just ordered the pizza puff today, so I'll report back on that. The place is very clean and the staff is very friendly. Both in person and over the phone. My co-workers and I have ordered for delivery and we've never had a problem. You should try it! Good stuff!!!!

the best steak tacos! seriously.... if you have never tried it, you must!

I just ordered some food last night for dinner and I couldn't complain about one thing. The food tasted GREAT, and I was told 45 minutes for it to arrive at my door BUT they got it to me in 30 minutes. Thanks MUNCHIES !!!

    (5)
  • Johnny D.

Munchies is great because the menu has a lot to offer, the food is better than average, and delivery only took around a 1/2 hour on a Saturday night. Their customer service is above average as well. I'd definitely recommend Munchies for when you're craving a solid gyro, BLT, hot dog, etc.

  • Ryan C.

I was craving a corn dog, so I found this place on grub hub and decided to give it a go. The corn dog was surprisingly really well cooked. You can tell it was deep fried and not microwaved or oven baked. It was really cheap too, but it wasn't very big. I should have ordered two. I got some onion rings too that were still really good when we got them, as well as a gyro, and a grilled cheese. The gyro was pretty decent (actually it was better the next day), and the grilled cheese was really standard. Exactly like you would make yourself. The delivery only took about 20 min. so that was really nice, and the prices are great. We will definitely keep ordering from here when we need to get our grease fix on.

the other days late nite order blew delivery was late (but the guy did call so i at least knew he was on his way)...my fries were cold...garlic bread tasted like cardboard and was about the same consistency...rib tips were anything but...i think i got maybe a few bites of meat...the rest was fat and bone what a waste of a meal

  • Liv P.

Ordered Munchie's when I had a serious craving for all that is bad. I wanted some chicken wings, a gyro and pizza. I had a delivery.com deal so I ordered it all. WOW. I got the $8 pizza special and it was HUGE! Not mouth-watering, but still tasty and I'm excited I have leftovers for a few days. Wings were good and had some decent meat on them. Gyro was tasty too. It wasn't as good as you'll get in a super authentic Greek place but I enjoyed it and am excited to finish it tomorrow. Good food, good service....great place for my fast food cravings.

My office is just down the street and one of the guys suggested Munchies for lunch. I had not ever been there so now seemed like the perfect opportunity to check it out. I ordered a beef sandwich dipped with peppers and it was good. The fries were crispy. They had tons of lunch specials. Parking was easy (they have a lot) and the service was fast. That's everything you want in a hot dog/hamburger joint. I will be back.

    (3)
  • Nicole S.

Munchies is ok for a quick bite but definately not my first choice. Prices are reasonable for the quality. The chicken gyros are pretty good, I generally get a Julian salad which is typical with average quality sliced meat, my favorite part is the garlic bread if your lucky enough to get a fresh piece that your not trying to tear apart with your teeth. If you want to play it safe stop in for a slice of pizza.

    (2)
  • James L.

Ordered for delivery the Gyros and fries. They didn't give me any tzatziki sauce! none! Then I thought maybe it's in the sandwich. None! I was disappointed and had to eat it without the awesomeness of the sauce. Big no no.

If I had life to do over again, I would have built up a business nest egg and opened a quick slice pizza place (heavy on the grease) named "Munchies." It would be the kind of place that would have food to satisfy those with the condition contained in the name. It would have made a mint I'm sure (and I'd be chilling on a beach in a place with no winter). Unluckily for my wallet but luckily for my stomach, someone already did just that. Whoever came up with that name was a marketing expert (or at least a stoner with a good drug induced idea). Except in one respect - location (location, location). Though this place is surprisingly close to the shopping district on Elston Avenue, it feels so isolated in a mini-strip mall that the only way I knew it was there was passing by it at random on the way home from the Chicago North DMV. The slices are tangy, not too cheesy, thin crust pieces of delight at $1.25 (or $1.50 for carnivores). I got two and it was pretty much a filling 1/4 pizza. They also have full diner and sandwich menus. Were this place actually in a neighborhood with anyone under 40, it would probably be a busy hangout spot. There are video games in the dining area, ample seating (considering how small the place is), and a laid back staff (I figured walking in this might be an unfriendly to strangers neighborhood type of place). So maybe I haven't missed my chance. Maybe I should open a Munchies West in a hipper neighborhood (if I could get a loan in this economic climate).

Ordered from here more than a few times. Definitely pass on the nachos with cheese because the chips WILL come to you completely stale. What keeps me coming back are the chicken tacos. they are SOOO good! The first time I ordered from there it was on grubhub so I also ordered a piece of tres leches (my favorite!) The lady at the front called and apologized saying they didn't have any left and if i would like cheesecake instead. I was slightly disappointed but glad she called and I was validated. Chicken tacos are amazing. Fries are pretty good too. Prices are fair. Even the delivery guy I always seem to get is courteous. Thanks Munchies :D

I have lived in this neighborhood for over a year and did not realize this little gem was here! I am always on the lookout for new places to try for thin crust pizzas. So I decided to give them a try. When I first called I was greeted by a very professional and friendly worker. They repeated everything I ordered. I ended up ordering just a basic cheese/sausage pizza and some mozzarella cheese sticks( I LOVE these things!). They arrive within in an house, as promised. The delivery driver was very friendly and courteous. The mozzarella sticks we fantastic! Instead of being breaded, they were battered! OMG...they were SO good! The pizza was fantastic also. The sauce was a little sweet, but I did not mind. The crust had a wonderful flavor too. I must say, I have ordered here a few times now and get the same friendly service AND fantastic food each time! I highly recommend this place.

Very tasty for a greasey spoon! Seemed a little disorganized behind the counter, but in the end, I enjoyed it. Will have to go back for the chicken gyros!

I ordered a double cheeseburger a strawberry shake and mozzarella sticks the total came out the $17.10 what the fuck is that bullshit

I love Munchies! It's our "go to" place on Sundays. Their pizza is awesome for fast food pizza. I mean it's no Pequods or Lou Mal's but it's above par fast food pizza. I love the sweet sauce. And for $11.99 for a large 1 topping pizza you can't beat that. They have a wide range of items on their menu from hot dogs to tamales to gyros to tacos to a bucket of rib tips. Fast food wise you can get pretty much anything you want here. And the prices are fair. This is a great fast food joint if you are in the neighborhood.

    (4)
  • Brock T.

Good place for a quick bite if you're in a fast food mood. I live a block away so I always carryout. Pizza is okay, always thin, nothing to write about, though. They have soft serve icecream and make all kinds of shakes and malts. Seating is limited. Kitchen is clean and always in view to ensure proper sanitation. Just a heads up, my chicken gyro had honey mustard, not tziki, still pretty good.

Corndog. That's right I said it. Corndog. I know it shows a peak into my white trash heritage but I don't care. I like Thin Lizzy and I like corndogs. What of it? Munchies has a good one. It's not a great deal at $2.50 but it's crispy and delicious, the perfect exclamation point to end a meal. They do have plenty of good deals on the menu though. The Club sandwich dinner is a pile of food for under $6. The sandwich is just fair but the portion is massive. The fries are thin and crispy. The shakes are actually very good. And the delivery is quick enough that the shakes aren't close to melted when you get them. The grilled chicken on a pita is a tasty, sort of healthy alternative to what i usually get and the gyro is a solid not great but not bad. They also sell pizza by the slice. It's very inexpensive and you get what you pay for. It's good size but the sauce is a little sweet for me. I didn't say I never order it... but the sauce is a little sweet. They're fast, have never gotten my order wrong and serve a mean corndog. I'm a fan.

Someplace that will bring a chocolate malt to my apartment? Yes, please! We've only ever gotten delivery from here so I can't comment on the store itself. But it generally arrives quickly (20-40 minutes or so) and the food is always hot and freshly cooked. We waited a little over an hour once but it was 7pm on a Saturday so we were kind of expecting that. The chicken gyro is great, the club sandwich is great, the fruit flavored shakes actually have huge chunks of said fruit in them, and as I said before, they have malts and deliver. Minus one star because sometimes the fries are a little too soft and greasy, the last order of fried mushrooms we got was bordering on being slightly burnt, and that the chicken gyro comes with a weird yellow sauce normally so you have to ask them to sub tzatziki.

  • Mary W.

The food here is decent and pretty cheap. I tried to go in today, as I was craving a Chicken Gyros. Munchies was having some gig going on today. I should have just kept driving by when I heard the blare of music when I was passing White Castle. Maybe I should have had a slider day or gone down Elston to Nikos. My 30's ears can't handle the way too loud noise. The parking lot had some mega ass speakers and some shady looking dudes. Note to Muchies owners, a little less noise and keep my parking space clear, then you may get my Gyros $$$$$$ Have to give you the uno star for your blunder today. Got my fix from Nikkos, no fuss, no muss and gr8 parking. In this economy, you must be doing great that you afford to lose business!

  • Loyda O.

I've really only had the gyros here. While the regular ones are good, I always go for the chicken ones. I've never seen chicken gyros anywhere else and they are DELICIOUS! I get them with the cucumber sauce instead of the honey mustard. Yum! EDIT: other places sell "chicken gyros," but they are chunks of grilled chicken breast. This place has ACTUAL gyro meat made from chicken, much tastier.

I live in a household of 8 people. Whenever we order from Munchies everyone can pretty much order what they want. Their food has been consistently good and pretty fast. I have ordered delivery from there as well. Try their cheesy bread. For about $1, it's like having a slice of cheese pizza with 4x the cheese. Sooo good! Of all the smal mom & pop shops in my neighborhood, this is my absolute favorite! They even have televisions inside the shop so you can watch some TV while eating.

    (4)
  • Sean R.

I have to wonder if I ate at the same Munchies as the rest of the reviewers. I found the food quite unspectacular bordering on gross. I had a bacon cheeseburger. The bacon was overcooked. The burger was overcooked and bland. I also had chili which is some of the worst I've had. And my friend got a slice of pizza that was pretty horrid. And it wasn't just because it had been sitting under a heating lamp for a week and a half (or so it seemed), but the sauce had a really weird flavor. Sorry to say I won't be returning here.

    (2)
  • Simone G.

I ordered pizza from here last week for sunday football. Lets talk about the pizza first. While having a decent crust, the sauce on this pizza is to sweet for my tastes, but I think this is really an individual opinion as some of my friends modestly enjoyed what they ate. Relatively well priced, but overall not really my taste in style. The delivery lady could've been a little more professional, but I thought the comfy looking slippers she was wearing was a nice touch... I tipped extra for that. Secondly when I drove by the place, I really didn't feel like the kind of place I'd hit up to often. So in summary you could do worse, but then again you could do better in this area.

let me start off by saying we did NOT order the pizza ..i had a gyro crave going and we decided on munchies because its right down the street from work and a coworker of mine brought a gyro in a few days ago that looked and smelled awesome (probably what started me craving in the first place =P) First thing that hit me was how clean and well kept the place is (we all kno the little dog stands can suffer in this area no matter how much we may like their food) Menu was good with a decent choice and food prices were reasonable (gyro special with medium drink and fries was $6 and some change, ditto for steak sandwich special) Service was quick , friendly and competent...they got our order right and managed to keep the incoming customers moving right along... The food was good -my fiance said it was the best steak sandwich he ever had -and he knows his way around steak sandwiches but .. and here goes the point loss .. the portions were tiny. Its the first time i can ever remember having a gyro, extra sauce (which i paid for but didnt notice)- fries and a pop and not being full. We also had an icecream on the go before we ate...so yeah ..The gyro when wrapped and foiled was the size of a hotdog on a bun,the fry bag on the orders of fries werent even full which was a shame because next to the fat, greasy home fries which some places make, these fries are my fave - the thin ones where u wind up with some soft and some crispy , well salted please! On top of that, the soda was flat .. oy .. i hesitated on giving Munchies 3 stars and decided to go with 4 in the end because the food WAS good and flat soda is usually a transitory thing .. ill try them again one day when im not so hungry

Went there many times over my 6 years in the old neighborhood, and I was always happy with the food and never had any complaints about the service. It's exactly the type of place you'd expect for a burger/gyro joint. The burgers are actually better than your average Chicago burger from a place like this, but that's not saying much because the city is lacking in good cheap cheeseburgers. They lose a half-star for their french fries, but get it right back because I'm a sucker for pizza by the slice.
