So the office ordered from mixed greens today. The place is rather good. They are very inventive with their salads and panninis. Mixed greens has developed into a reliably on time spot for the office to get lunch from. Today, I got the little Italy salad with chicken. It is an Italian salad that is topped by tortellini. The cherry tomatoes are ripe and the salad crisp. I am always pleased and satisfied when the office orders from here.

If I could rate this place a 0, I would. I have now ordered from there 5 times (against my better judgment after they striked out 3 times in a row) through GrubHub/Seamless. Every time, they have gotten something with my order wrong. They forgot ingredients in salads and outright forgot the soup I paid for. The food is blah, but obviously the quality control is awful. I tried to email the email provided through their website and it was prompted returned to sender. Even if I am craving a salad, I would not come here ever. AND $8.50 for a teeny tiny salad that they mess up with a teeny amount of dressing? Okay... I would rather have Pockets any day of the week!

This place is not close to my office at all, but I like going here to pick up lunch, which should tell you something. As far as assembly line salads go, Mixed Greens keeps things simple and the ingredients are mostly all top notch. What I appreciate the most is there's nothing overly complicated about pricing. It's one set price for every salad and add $2 for protein. Doesn't matter what it is. You get four ingredients, plus a cheese and plus a "crunch." And they do not skimp you on toppings here. I usually have a pile left in my bowl when i finish my lettuce. They also have all kinds of great dressings to choose from. Most often I order the Mexicali (though you should add avocado to it) and occasionally build my own. There are just countless choices here that if building your own thing overwhelms you, it can be rough, but the line is usually long and gives you plenty of time to overthink your decision. Mixed Greens is pretty efficient to go, though there's a decent amount of seating, and the service is decent even though I have trouble understanding the guys mixing the salads sometimes. If it were closer, I would be getting all my salads here to be sure.

Built my own salad with a spinach base and almost every topping and grilled chicken with sesame shiitake vinaigrette. Their menu on the screens were hard to see and made ordering difficult, especially as I was doing the 'build your own.' Because of this, I didn't see the price differences for unlimited versus four toppings and was corrected at the register. However, for around $11 including tax, I thought that was a good deal, since my salad was jam packed and filled me up. For having so many different toppings, the flavors sure came flat, as I could tell their ingredients weren't super fresh. The artichokes in particular were quite unappetizing. Even ones from cans shouldn't taste as 'blah' as these ones. Everything else wasn't bad as in nothing was wilting or anything, but nothing was vibrant as they should have been. Not only that, I noticed that most of the toppings were rather finely chopped, so they all somewhat disintegrated into my salad. The sesame shiitake vinaigrette again wasn't bad but lacked much shiitake flavor. Overall, good portions, decent price, variety of toppings including roasted mushrooms and edamame, but lacked in quality, taste, and freshness. I also did not like the setup of the place and was not very inviting/comfortable. Oh, almost forgot to mention... The forks they have for dining in are tiny...like either for children or used as a toy in a play-set...or used to pry out crab and lobster meat out of their shell...it was quite difficult to eat my salad with this tiny fork.

I will start by saying this review is not a reflection of the food, but rather the customer service. I ordered delivery for my whole office for lunch at 10:30AM to be delivered at Noon. Simple order... 8 Salads and 1 Panini. After about a 20 minute grace period after our scheduled delivery time, I called the restaurant and told them we had not gotten our food. They said it would be there any minute. I said okay, thank you and hung up. 12:30 comes around, no food. 12:45, still no food. I call again and they said the driver was here, but confused on how to get in. I stated specific directions, but I gave them to the employee on the other end of the phone again anyways. He said okay he will be right up. 1:10, still no food. Another co worker of mine calls and asks to speak with the manager, he tells us that the driver just got back and he will be right there with the food. The food finally arrives and for the 8 of us who got salads, we were in luck because they stayed cold, however the sandwich was as cold as our salads along with the pita bread. I will give them kudos for the food. It was very good and they didn't skimp on the meat or veggies in any of the salads like other places do. Note to management team: Customer service is key, especially when a business is ordering lunch for their whole office. Word of mouth spreads and upsetting a office of people is going to lead to bad press. With all the money we just spent with you a "I'm sorry" or "Here are some free cookies as apology for being a hour late", or really anything besides "here is your food" would have sufficed. Going to chalk this one up as a LOSS for Mixed Greens.

Went to here to try to eat a healthy lunch. Cheers to the mounds of salad! Big complaint...they only have a small portable A/C unit. It was hot as heck in there. Plus, zero airflow from outside because the door doesnt open directly to the street. No, I do not like sweating my ass off while I am waiting for my refreshing salad. The salad was good, not great. A-OK is right. It definitely got the job done. I had the sashimi salad and they were missing some of the ingredients...wasabi peas...bummer. Overall it was good. The tuna was good, but it was a pretty small portion. Overall it was fine. The silverware is all miss matched and just off to the side. There are no knives out so if you want to try to cut your salad...good luck. There was just forks and spoons. I thought it was interesting because some of the forks seemed like they were baby forks. I grabbed two and one was half the size of the other...huh? Am I eating escargot? HAHA. I definitely think its a fine place to stop and get a salad if you are in the area and looking for something "healthy." They also have soup and panini's as well...for you non rabbit eaters.

Pros: Flavorful salad with lots of ingredients; not over done with a lot of lettuce; quick service; opportunity to customize; seems to be something for everybody. Cons: rushed/unengaging staff; over priced for size of salad. Get there before or after typical lunch hours. Otherwise there will be a sizable line out the door.

  • Candice H.

I like the salads here and the huge selection of ingredients. HOWEVER, I find the staff unengaged, rude and rushed. IF I make any substitutions to my salad they are so busy that they aren't even listening. Forget about the substitutions. I find it obnoxious. Slow down a minute and get the orders right, without asking me numerous times because you weren't actually listening. Maybe, rather than having employees falling all of each other running around grabbing ingredients and dressings- you should consider an assembly line approach. I wil go back because it's so close and the food is good. I hope they work on customer service.

Today was my first time at mixed greens and I'm not disappointed! I'm a huge salad eater but it's difficult finding a good place. But I have found it! I absolutely loved my salad and it's a big enough for 2 servings! I also got an oatmeal walnut cookie as big as my head, and that's pretty big! Plus it tastes amazing! I'm excited for more trips to mixed greens for another tasty lunch!!!

Good selection of toppings for custom salads. Reasonably priced. They give you warm pita bread with your salad at the end. The adult grilled cheese is also pretty good.

Buffalo blue salad was good and filling. $9 lunch downtown = win...plus the line isn't too bad at 12:30

  • Jim A.

Since they have moved to their new location the portion controls and process are much better. They still need to hire more people to handle the lunch crowd. Still a little over priced.

Ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad for lunch today. This place had been recommended by coworkers. First, there were more people in line than sitting, the line should be directed around the room in a better manner (perhaps the opposite way they have it) to optimize the space's use better. Second, the "Caesar salad" I received had TOMATOES? WTF! Who in their right mind puts tomatoes in a Caesar Salad. If I'd wanted tomatoes, I would NOT have ordered a Caesar. If they can't get classics right, then they're worthless. Third, it was OVERPRICED for what little I got. I HIGHLY recommend going elsewhere.

  • Megan W.

When my order is given to me correctly I would give them 5 stars for being what it is, a quick, reasonably priced, healthier option, for the area. However, I seem to always have something go wrong. Most of the time its not putting my dressing on the side, OR more often then not at the begining I ask for the dressing on the side and they put it on the salad and give me dressing on the side as well. Id say that a good 98% of females, and a good hanful of people over all ask for their dressing on the side, so it bewilders me how this is always messed up. Many times I have seen one of the guys realize he messed up and just keep going without starting over hoping I wont notice because it gets really busy around lunch time. One time I found a penny in my salad. I mean I guess I really dont know why I still eat here. I excused the penny as a really wierd one off thing, I'd be much more leary if it was some sort of bug or rodent but I mean really, I dont foresee that happening again. The cashier is always pleseant and always handles these mishaps well providing good customer service. (only charging partially for the whole meal, or in the case of the penny, giving me a new salad and a complete refund) Anyways, 3 stars it is Oh yeah they do have the best pita bread of all of time, even though i try to not let myself have the little slice of carb heaven too often. EDIT- I took away one star because of one particular person, I DREAD when I get him to make my salad which happens about once a week. He has never once made a single salad right. It's just out of hand, I even order straight off the menu with no changes from time to time and he just cant ever get it right. Food is good for what it is but this type of thing is not really worth it because its so frustrating.

This review goes to show that it's not just about the quality of food but the quality of your experience. Mixed Greens has great salads; however, I've repeatedly had poor customer service at this place and will not return. Maybe if they always had pita bread upon checkout they would have gotten three stars, but it's hit or miss with that as well, normally miss, thus two stars. Lastly, the woman at the register during lunch is RUDE RUDE RUDE. I waited almost 20 minutes in line the other day, about to order my usual chicken salad, when she screamed WE HAVE NO MORE CHICKEN at the top of her lungs. Her approach was super rude with the most awful tone, I wasn't the only one who gasped and left. You lost my business Mixed Greens and I probably will not speak highly of you - it's too bad because your salads are quite good.

A little expensive for what you get. The staff was not very nice and they didn't have most of the proteins that were on the menu. I'll find somewhere else to grab my lunch.

  • Lizz M.

Solid. I wonder if it's the dreadful winter and my hopes of spring that has me craving salads this week? Anyway, I ditched my homemade lunch in search of a salad and popped in here today. I built my own salad and went with the steak. Service was fast, friendly and my new friend who made my salad even gave me extra pita. At $11 I don't think I'd eat here every day, but it's a nice treat. My salad tasted fresh and filled me up through dinnertime, which apparently is possible when you eat a salad. Who would've known? Sadly it's not better than Chop't which lives on the east coast, but it'll do just right.

I tried this place for lunch today and LOVED it! I used to be a huge fan of Salad Spinners and they also had a salad called the "Mexicali" which Mixed Green has as well. The salad was just as delicious at it was at Salad Spinners! It was full of corn and beans and Mexican cheese. I also loved the great touch of the crunchy tortilla chips on top - great alternative to croutons! I had originally wanted steak but they did not have it (weird) so I settled for the grilled chicken. It was delicious and plentiful. All in all I really enjoyed Mixed Greens and will definitely be back for lunch!

Great custom salads however delivery service (or who ever they use) is very poor. Forget to add extra items such as cookie, chips, soup etc. Hesitant to order more frequently...

  • Mia S.

The warm goat cheese salad was really good, with the perfect amount of dressing. I would have liked some more mixed greens in it though. My boyfriend had the turkey club panini which was also great. The best part was the friendly and helpful service. They were quick and efficient as well. I'll definitely be stopping here for lunch more often.

I work down the street from Mixed Greens and come here often. As with most restaurants in the Loop, the line can get pretty long during the lunch hour, but it moves along quickly. I usually get their custom salads and have never been disappointed. Lots of topping options. I've not had their sandwiches, but they look great. The staff has always been extremely nice as well. No complaints!

  • Jan B.

No thank you. Had a late lunch here yesterday and never again. $12 for a sad salad that consisted of soggy lettuce, a few cherry tomatoes and small dried out pcs of buffalo chicken. Plus the place was dirty, all five front window tables were still dirty from the earlier lunch crowd. Now I could understand if it were crowded but no one else was there. Gross.

I've been to Mixed Greens twice and have gotten the Parlez Vous Francais salad which has spinach, grilled chicken, roasted walnuts, apples, and edamame. It usually comes with blue cheese, but I'm not a fan, so I get the feta instead. It's been great both times. This location is smaller than the one in River North, and they ask if you want pita wedges (and give you two) rather than you being able to grab as many as you like (which you can at the RIver North location) Two is definitely enough, I just like the option to grab more :)

  • Susan F.

They must have read my review because they have definitely dialed down on the amount of protein they give you, damn! Anywho, I finally tried something else here: a soup and panini. The tomato soup and adult grilled cheese are a perfect pair--rivaling pb&j for sure. The cheese actually has a taste and their tomato soup is salty, peppery, creamy, tomatoe-y--basically all the taste notes you want it to hi! I'm a big fan.

I come here very often. The salads are okay when they actually get them correct; however, after receiving the wrong salad for the third time in a row today, I think I'm done with this place. Would not recommend.

  • Jami S.

Was recommended to Mixed Greens b/c of their lent-friendly salads. Salmon Cesar - 4 stars Buffalo Blue (with salmon instead) - 5 stars Get "Easy Dressing". They have a heavy hand. The salads also come with pita bread & are very large. I will be back to try the Steak Salad.

  • Alden V.

If you're looking for a straight up salad, fine. It's okay at that. They do have a lot of toppings, and the salad portion is decent. No way I go back unless I'm feeling vegetarian which, I assure you, is seldom. I got a steak salad. Steak was probably sitting in the cooler for a couple days. I expect some freshly sliced steak of a grill or rotisserie, c'mon man!? My buddy got a Philly Steak panini and I tried some of it, big mistake. Do they freeze this stuff ahead of time? It was kind of gross I have to say. 2-stars. If you can't give me decent meat on a salad, it's not worth having a salad. And a sandwich... enough said.

    (2)
  • Betsy T.

If you're in the mood for a salad, this is an OK place to go. You can build your own and they have just about everything you can think of to put into a salad. My go-to is usually the steak salad. I've gotten the "grilled chicken" put in a salad before and was pretty disappointed. It's that fake "rib-meat" filler crap. Also, they are completely useless about finding out about the ingredients. I have dietary restrictions and question the ingredients in the soup (aka, any wheat/gluten in there?) and they have no idea. No big binder to dig out and look up, no chef in the back to ask, nothing. Really, Mixed Greens, REALLY?!

  • Katie K.

I used to like this place. I know they started making their salads smaller recently, but prices were same. Not so anymore. I went in today and apparently it's either unlimited toppings or just 4 toppings. I didn't know this and got charged almost $11.00 for this small/regular salad w/chicken. $11.00 for a small salad! You can't really go crazy with unlimited toppings in such a small bowl people..... I'll be going to Subway from now on, thanks.... :(

    (1)
  • Don C.

This place has very good salads, and lots of ingredients. Unfortunately their portion sizes has increased significantly, and prices have gone up. In the past, they used to allow unlimited number of ingredients in the salad. Now they are very stingy on the number of ingredients and quantity It is unfortunate because I would usually frequent this place multiple times a week, but since the changes, I dine here.

  • John O.

As someone that eats salads at least 4 times a week, any new place specializing in salads is going to get a visit from me. I've had both the buffalo chicken, the black and blue steak salad, the goat cheese, and a custom salad. All of them were very good, although the place is clearly new and still trying to work out some kinks. The salads come together fast but they could probably use a person or two more assembling salads because the line always seems to be out the door, no matter what time I get there between 12-1.

Tasty salad place with some fresh ingredients! The price point seemed fair as well. Reviewed the salads on the board, a veggie version stated it cost $5.50, so I ordered up a warm goat cheese salad. Strike 1 - The bill came up to 8.84. "I thought the non-meat salads were only $5.50?" "Yes, but goat cheese counts as a meat". Be warned, goat cheese is considered a meat here. To be fair, they give a nice hunk of goat cheese, but still.. I was on a budget and probably would've appreciated the warning instead of finding out at the counter where I pay after my salad has been made. Strike 2 - How did my salad end up being $8.84? At $7.50 for a signature salad, that would require a 17.86% tax rate... did I miss something? I didn't realize this until I was sitting back down in my office and figuring out the cost in my head... Verdict: All in all, tasty salad, but honestly not much service was offered when I showed my confusion over goat cheese being counted as a meat, and I'm still not sure why my salad taxed at 17.86%. Will I be back? I'd be willing to check it out again possibly... but I'll be a lot more careful regarding what they charge. Suggestion: Put a note that lets people know that goat cheese is a meat! While it may be intuitive for your staff from a cost perspective, it's not intuitive to any guests who haven't been there before. Side note: A lot of reviews state unlimited toppings, but the sign clearly states four veggies, one sauce, one crunch... have things changed since April?

  • Leena S.

What people don't know about this place is that you can get a half panini and half salad for under $10. It's not on the menu so you just have to ask and they have no problem. Also the half panini is actually a little more than half, and the half salad is generous - probably the size of salad I would want to eat anyways before getting sick of it. If you are a girl who doesn't eat heavy lunches, this honestly could be two completely different lunches. It does take a bit longer (panini's take longer as they make them fresh) but i waited for about 5 mins. If you do the half half route, I suggest you don't go during the lunch rush, slightly before or after.

  • Ryan F.

Awesome variety, good prices (big make your own salad, $6...) makes it my favorite lunch spot. I got a make your own salad (FOUR toppings, crunch, cheese, tons of dressings to choose from), caramel apple cookie, AND soup for $13. Bargain.

  • Sarah D.

Everyone seems to love this place, but I have to disagree. The first 3 times I came, I probably would have rated it a 4, but the salads get old quick. Yes, the line moves quickly, there are a ton of toppings to choose from, and it's reasonably priced, but the dressing options are terrible. I haven't had one decent dressing, and for a salad place, it's disappointing. The pita that comes with the salad is free, but plain raw pita is just blah. I haven't tried a panini or a pizza, but I know they take a minimum of 15 minutes to come out. I've had the soup a number of times; I recommend mixing the chicken chili with the broccoli cheddar, but it's not the healthiest option. I'll apologize on Yelp for taking free soda and a 2nd refill on soup, but I eat there enough so I'll allow it. I wouldn't choose to sit in the office over eating at Mixed Greens, but only because I'd be the only one left sitting.

Sometimes I easily get bored with the lunch options near the workplace. I saw my boss coming back from lunch and I asked him where he went. He told me he had been going to this place for quite awhile. I thought to myself, "salad..whatever." My boredom kicked in overtime this past Tuesday and I thought about this place. I walked in @ around 1:30PM and it was a nice crowd but not too packed. Friendly person behind the counter greeted me and asked what I wanted and I went with the Little Italy salad. For a couple of extra bucks I added grilled chicken. There were many delicious options of salad along with the option of creating your own. They serve soups and paninis as well. Their salads come in a huge bowl and is very filling. You get the option of wheat or white thin pita-like bread with your salad as well. As some have stated in their review, you recieve a plastic cup for drinks. The staff is very friendly and works hard. The one person that sticks out is the girl behind the counter. She is very friendly and can make anyone smile when she speaks. She is always smiling and always has a kind word for customers. Speaking of girls...if you want to see very attractive women during lunch this is the place you want to have lunch ;) This place is very good as I have eaten here for the last 3 days! They have outside seating along busy Lake street as well

Salads were worthy of repeating again, but nothing I could crave. On the facility end of things..... While waiting in line, a few menus were posted on the window and on TVs, but none of them were legible. I also have to wonder why a successful place like this has such a lack luster soup display and exposed electrical. Usually it means bigger problems are lurking or being overlooked. The ingredients are presented like feeding time at the zoo. Which may be an accurate assessment of the downtown lunch crowd, but I had a flashback to a presentation on what a fruit bat eats....

The salads are excellent! You can order one of their own (they put it together right in front of you) or make your own.. either way, it's a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The food is fresh, and the service is swift and really nice. The prices are on par with Loop salad prices, but it's a pretty big salad. Get some!

A salad is still a salad even if it has bacon, eggs and blue cheese crumbles on it, right? I ate from Mixed Greens for lunch recently. My office just moved buildings, and Mixed Greens is across the street from our new place. I figured I would give it a try. I ordered Thee Chicago Cobb (yes, there are two e's in "Thee), which had grilled chicken, crumbled blue cheese, cucumber, tomato, hard-boiled eggs and crispy bacon with blue cheese dressing. For a salad, it's probably not the healthiest option, but it was delicious. I also loved how the salad was mixed to perfection so every piece of lettuce was coated with the dressing. Really tasty! They also give you pita bread with your order. I had a very positive experience my first time there, and I'm excited to go back and try some of their other salads and paninis.

I was a big fan of Mixed Greens's predecessor, Salad Spinners. But Mixed Greens has recently decreased the size of their salads and increased their prices. I likely will not return often. Their food is solid - they have excellent ingredient combinations, and I am a huge fan of their tofu offering as a protein. Their service is great - very efficient, professional, and friendly. I used to appreciate the generosity in their service and portion/ingredients. I'm disappointed with the decrease in all of these areas.

Over the last 9 months or so the salads have been getting smaller and smaller yet the prices stay the same. Not a huge deal the first time but enough to raise an eyebrow. That however, coupled with my interaction with the women at the register this afternoon, was enough to make me rethink my lunch options. When I get to the register I don't expect you to know what I ordered but in kind don't glare at me expecting me to know you're ready for me to tell you what I ordered then shove your hand out for my payment. I could go on, and perhaps I will, about how she could have asked if I wanted anything else (considering the chips and soda selection are on the wall after you pay one may not think to add to their order) if I needed a bag or even a fork. Pita? their pita is dry and pretty tasteless I'm not surprised she didn't ask if I wanted any. I've worked in enough service industry jobs and had enough bad days to understand this may be a one off but honestly with so many choices I'm not sure I'll bother going back for quite some time, if ever.

Really wanted a good, fresh salad place where I can make a custom salad that was convenient to work. After doing research on Yelp, I decided to come and try this place EVEN though it was pouring outside. I got a salad to go with SALMON. I got back to work with my delicious salad, full of veggies, and noticed there was no salmon. If you want protein in your salad, it is kind of an important thing to miss!! I'm so upset and craving protein now. :(

  • Erik W.

I went back here today, and it's not 1,000 degrees anymore, as they've placed a good 5 or 6 AC units around the seating area (although when you stand at the register, you still feel heat pouring out from between the ingredients display case and the cast register, but it's handled where the customers are concerned), which is nice. I also went in at 12:45 and was in and out in probably 5 minutes tops. I still love their butternut squash. I ordered their orient express this time, and while I expected whole mandarin oranges, but it was very good. Also pretty reasonably priced, $9 for my salad and soup. There's still an error message covering the proteins section, but it's a different error message now, so they should actually fix that so I can see what kind of proteins they have.

Horrible Customer Service. I ordered a sandwich from there without bacon, it took forever to make and when i got back to my desk I realized they had put bacon on it. Normally I would just pick off the bacon and eat it, but since it was all chopped up and in the melted cheese I couldnt easily do that. Plus, I'm pregnant and cant eat it. I calmly explained the situation, the workers started yelling at each other in another language which made me feel very uncomfortable. 5 minutes later I had a new sandwich. When I finally I got back to my desk Guess what.. there was bacon on this one also. Once and it's a mistake, twice and it's intentional. Unfortunately I wasted 45 min running back and forth dealing wtih the situation, leaving me with no time to eat lunch.

Great place! Good food! Good staff! I went in and asked if they did wraps and the guy made me a specialty panini- roasted red pepper, sprouts, warm goat cheese- amazing!

  • Molly L.

I came in here looking for a quasi healthy and quick solution for my work day lunch. The line was a out the door but they kept things moving at a steady pace which I really appreciated. The specialty salads all looked tasty in my opinion (you also have an option to build your own) - I had a hard time deciding between the Buffalo Blue Chicken, the Chicago Cobb, the Salmon Caesar or the Black&Blue Steak Salad. I think it's worth noting that their specialty salad options weren't anything terribly revolutionary or unique, more like standard staples in my opinion. Anyway I ended up with the Chicago Cobb - which comes with Chicken and your typical Cobb fixings (blue cheese, egg, tomatoes, cucumber?? And spicy ranch) they also serve with a side of white or wheat pita. The serving size was pretty big which is great, but then again if I'm paying $8 for a salad I'm expecting that. Salad was tasty. I'd definitely come back and try other items as well. A non salad item that really "spoke" to me was the Adult Grilled Cheese - Sharp Cheddar, Provolone, Buffalo Mozzarella, crispy bacon, sliced tomato and pesto mayo.... HELLO?! Sounds right up my alley, guess I'll need to make another appearance at Mixed Greens!

Love this place - an absolute favorite! The people who work here are super nice - and the salads are huge for the price and made with the best quality ingredients - love the 'create your own' with grilled salmon. My one issue - they close too early (3 PM but often seems earlier) and don't open on weekends.

I've been craving a specialty salad joint for a while and my friend just took me here. I ordered the goat cheese salad and it was absolutely delicious. They were very generous with the goat cheese which was drizzled with a little bit of Strawberry vinaigrette and coated with walnuts. There were so many other good looking options I'll definitely be back again, although it is very crowded during lunch time. The staff was very friendly. Great place!

Another nice day so another nice day that I decided to wander around for food.. Passed Perry's and was thinking I should do healthy.. Enter Mixed Greens: I miss my Salad Creations near work and this place totally fills the niche and then some with their choices. Being that there was a line starting to form moreso for the lunch hour rush, I went with their warm goat cheese salad. Delish.. It's a bit pricey, but that's all of the loop in my opinion. The wheat pita I had was eh and I ate it because it was there. Overall, a nice salad joint. Will definitely be back to create my own! Being able to order online and walk over seems to be another bonus as well..

This is a great salad lunch spot in the Loop. The salads are HUGE and very reasonably priced -- $5.50 to build your own or $7.50 for a signature salad. My favorite is the Warm Goat Cheese Salad -- candied pecan crusted goat cheese, organic baby beets, and cherry tomatoes served with blackberry balsamic vinaigrette.

Biting one's tongue regarding jokes about mixed bags, Mixed Greens tosses a salad suited for shoulder-shrugging satiation. The prices are reasonable for the area, and the "Build Your Own" Salad option is always a plus when flaunting the forced fixings of formal feasting. The amounts and selection of toppings (dump on all you want) leave one with a salad that is marvelously...mediocre. It isn't an eatery that establishes an election for repetition. There are better salads for similar prices elsewhere. Methinks that merrier staff might move this mixed menagerie up half a star. Oh, and half a star falls from the sky because they forced Fox News on those who eat in. Poor form.

Pretty darn good chance you will find me here during the busy lunch shift at least 3 times a week. Here is the rundown: Serves 'Build Your Own' Salads for a pretty reasonable price (approx. $6.50) but the kicker is UNLIMITED TOPPINGS. I can't tell you how much I HATE places that charge you for individual toppings. Those 4 walnuts better be orgasmic if I'm paying a whole dollar for em. Expect to pay a couple bucks extra for meat but I usually go the vegetarion option during the week. Salad dressings are great and every salad is served with complimentary pita. The 4 stars though is for 1.) lack of quality seating and 2.) you leave this place smelling a little something like grilled chicken. My advice, stop in for carry-out and eat at your desk. Oh and don't forget that this little gem is only open from 11-2 on weekdays (smart management!)

I was only going to give this place 4 stars, but here's why it deserves 5. 1) they say 5 toppings, but you can ask for how ever many you want. 2) customized salad (without meat) for under $7?? 3) quick moving line, plentiful seating 4) service with a smile, i've gone at both noon (packed) and 2:30 (empty) and had great service 5) free pita with salad... insta sandwich! this place really is great... quick, fast, relatively inexpensive salad for lunch. my go-to at work. the only reason i initally wanted to give it at 4 is because i'm not sure this is "as good as it gets", ie salads are inconsistently dressed, it isn't terribly upscale, but WHATEVER. getting a really tasty salad for $7 is worth it in my book, even if onions came into the container with the corn i chose and made their way onto my salad, i can deal

I am always on the lookout for lunch places in the loop and am glad I tried this place. I have tried their signature salads and I love the Italian. They are fast and very friendly which I appreciate. Try their soups, the chicken chili is really good and the loaded baked potato was yummy too. Good, fresh and health food overall. This will definitely be one of my regulars.

Great food, but they recently started using a MUCH smaller container, but still charging the same price for salads. Great way to alienate your repeat customers.

Super nice people especially since I came in at close. Decent salad (my benchmark is high though) with lots of options to make your own.

I'm giving this place an "A-OK" even though I take responsibility for my meal not being great by ordering badly. I saw so many delicious paninis, salads, and hearty bowls of soup, but I ordered one of their house, pre-determined salads (buffalo chicken) and was very disappointed. Now I didn't read the description well (again my fault) and thought it was grilled chicken, then get my salad and the chicken is mushy and gross, but as I look at the website now, I realize it was supposed to be "crispy" chicken. A failure either way, since the form chicken is in should be easily identifiable. I also got the dressing on the side, but to my surprise the buffalo sauce also came on the side. That's fine, but I would have expected that to be evenly coating the pieces of chicken, not just poured on top. My friend is smarter than I am and got chicken chili and a beef and cheddar panini, grilled to perfection with onions and fancy marks indicating this was done on a real panini machine. His lunch was better, but in my defense, apparently only one of us is on a wedding diet. Hmpf. I'll definitely be back because the food (aside from the "crispy" chicken it would seem) is all fresh, the prices are very reasonable, the place is clean, and everything is made in front of your eyes with precision and speed. I will definitely opt for the choose your own toppings route on my salad next time though. I don't know why I got lazy and went pre-determined. They have such great options. I'm maintaining my 3 star rating because of the funky chicken though.

Salad Spinners was for salad wusses. Mixed Greens is hard core. They will put whatever the hell you want on your salad, even if you're Michael Jackson and want marshmallows and pixie dust on your baby greens. The staff is super friendly and the only overcharged me once for my salad. I can't knock this place, even if I do eat marshmallows for lunch.

This is legitimately the only place in the area to get a great salad, quickly. Top notch quality ingredients and reasonably priced. The salads are good but the pressed sandwiches might be even better. They're starting a cheesesteak sandwich which is filthy good...order it. It's fast and super convenient. Hope they open up more places.

I wanted to like this place but I don't know if I'm ever going back. I grabbed lunch from here this afternoon and decided on the goat cheese salad. When I got to the register to pay, it rang up at the price of a salad with meat on it, something like $2 more. So I ask why it's more then it's listed on the sign and the cashier tells me goat cheese is considered a "meat add-on" b/c it's coated in pecans or some crap. I told her that no where is that listed on their menu hanging above the ordering area. Her way of solving this issue was an extra stamp on one of those buy so many salads & get one free cards. Gee thanks I'm one salad closer to getting ripped off again, yay for me! There are tons of other options around my office who are happy to earn my business.

I have been here once, last summer (I believe this place used to be called Salad Spinners, when we went here), to join my now husband for lunch. I thought the salads we ordered were both good. The panini we shared was also quite tasty. I did not care much for the rude clientele and the expensive price tag - it is lunch after all...

Don't get me wrong, I love a good salad and will go out of my way to order one from time to time. Nothing hits the spot for me like a Portillos Chop Salad or a Lou Malnatis salad. The salads at Mixed Greens however, do not come anywhere close to these standards and I dont think that bar is even that high. I've always been walking by this place and finally one day thought to give it a try when the line wasn't quite so bad. I ordered a Baja Salad or something like that and eagerly walked back to work to chow down. All the ingredients sounded like something I'd like and I was pretty excited. Unfortunetly the salad didn't even come within the same ballpark as my expectations and was actually downright disgusting. I took maybe 5-7 bites worth and had to toss it as the smell alone was starting to make me sick. I think the dressing was what did it more than anything although the flatbread was pretty stale and cardboard like too and the lettuce/greens just didn't have a good flavor/after taste. I wouldn't come back, too much money to risk on another sub-par lunch.

Like others, I'm reviewing this place on what it is - a salad joint. I'm not expecting a whole lot ASIDE from a good salad, and Mixed Greens delivered. There's two reasons I was impressed with this place: 1) Good-quality "higher-end" salad toppings at a decent price. Did I get charged extra for avocado? No! For walnuts AND wasabi nuts? No! All the veggies and extras I want for $6? YES! (I should note that a variety of vegetarian options and not being charged meat prices for veg entrees makes me really happy) and 2) Real bowls and real silverware makes me feel like I'm eating a real meal. It's such a small thing, but it makes the meal so much more enjoyable and it's environmentally friendly. I appreciated that they actually tossed the salad instead of just piling everything on top. I did not receive the much maligned pita, but didn't even notice until I was walking back down the street thinking about Yelping. Their paninis didn't look interesting and/or veg-friendly, but you get a caprese panini and maybe we'll talk. Aside: They lost a star for cross-contamination and miscommunication. Right at the end of my happy, healthy, vegetarian salad was a big ole' hunk of something dead. Chicken? Salmon? Who knows. I brushed it aside, and thankfully it was the only one. I was too far gone with my salad at that point to complain or ask for a new one, but there might be a strongly worded letter in my future. I also asked for no cheese, which the guy heard as "goat cheese"...but goat cheese is delicious, so I didn't really mind.

I just came from this place and the cobb salad was pretty good and they gave a hub cap sized bowl, huge. Apparently they will give you an unlimited number of toppings. My only complaint is that the fork given to me was very small.

  • Keerthi A.

I have only tried one salad here so far - the Cobb, and it was a really good salad as far as Cobb salads go. They have a large selection of salads and you can also order your own salad. They mixed the salad on order. I asked them for no bacon and they happily obliged. They also have various soups and paninis, but apparently, according to the cashier, their soups do contain cream and are on the high-calorie side. Their Cobb salad, however, was huge, and its very filling. I cannot wait to go back there and try all the other salads they have!

I gots to say, I'm sitting here at my desk really enjoying everything about my Mixed Greens experience this afternoon. Here is why: The build your own salad was really reasonably priced (under $5) and they put a ton of the stuff on that I chose- I was expecting like, a singular sunflower seed. Nopers. They were totally generous. I chose the mixed baby greens as my lettuce type and it was completely fresh. There was no line and the hot dude who served me was totally patient as I hemmed and hawed amidst all of my options. And most importantly, their salad to-go containers were not styrofoam! They were paper! I'm definitely coming back. What a nice surprise!

I used to like this place. A lot. It was convenient and pretty good...decent soups as well. The prices rose a bit. The portions got smaller. I grumbled, but returned. That all came to a halt when I found a HAIR in my salad. Not one that resembled my own at all. Dark. Black. Short. Curly. HAIR. I don't need to say anything else on that. I immediately threw away my salad and tried to hold back the urge to be sick. I attempted several times to email Mixed Greens, but the email address they provide so conveniently bounces emails back. I wrote the manager a good, old fashioned letter. Nothing. I wasn't trying to get free coupons or gift certificates or anything. I just wanted a simple apology and reassurance. HEARD NOTHING BACK. Fine. If that's the kind of business you want to run, I will never return. I used to work in food service back in college, so I know things happen. You get busy, ingredients get mixed. But health and hygiene cannot be compromised. I was very angry and sickened that day, and didn't want to go back into the restaurant. I wasn't in the mood to get into it with them. Now, I'm too grossed out to even go in at all. I work in a very large office, and it's disappointing to not even hear anything back from the management. There are a lot of people that are now aware of Hairgate.

THEY HAVE POP IN CLEAR PLASTIC CUPS!!! Alright, I know that's weird, but fountain pop in a clear plastic cup just tastes better to me. (I get it, I'm weird, but I've learned to embrace that.) These days, my pants are fitting a bit more snugly that I'd like. The consequence? I am now watching what I eat. (THE HORROR!!!) I know not all "salads" are health food, but with the "make your own" option at Mixed Greens, you can make it as healthy or as fatty as you like. I'm totally down with that. I had some organic mixed greens, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, broccoli, sunflower seeds, salmon, and feta. Well, actually, I think the guy thought I said "chedda" and not "feta", but it tasted good. It was a good combo. Loved it. Ate it all. Even the stalish pita. Can't wait to go back and create another fabulous combo. With a side of Diet Pepsi in a clear plastic cup, I was in lunch-heaven. I might be watching what I eat, but I didn't say that can't be fatty business going in my mouth. (Just not today.) Weirdo out.

I stopped in here yesterday for lunch with a friend. I had the Greek Island salad with chicken. There wasn't much chicken in the salad so I didn't get much of a protein fix. My salad had beets in it! Weird for a Greek salad but I don't mind beets that much. They were nice enough to keep the dressing on the side for me. I like to dip my fork into the dressing to keep the calories & fat down. There was plenty of feta in my salad, love that! My friend had the black & blue salad with seared flank steak. That looked really good too. I like my beef warm so I don't know if I would like cold beef in my salad. You can also create your own salad. I might try that next time. This place kind of reminded me of Ponte Fresco right down the block from my office. I might take the trek here again to meet my friend but I doubt I will venture here on my own.

Wasabi peas on a salad? Yes, please! After four years of working in the Loop I've finally found my ideal build-your-own-salad place. Believe me, my friends, the journey has been long and arduous. With a multitude of fresh toppings and a plethora of low-fat dressings, Mixed Greens trumps the competition in all fronts: * Unlike Salad Spinners, Mixed Greens knows what "romaine lettuce" is. * Unlike Mac Kelly's, the salad containers are biodegradeable. Could this place get any better? Why yes, actually, it could move closer to my place o'business. However, for Wasabi peas I may be able willing to schlep unknown distances in rain, hail, sleet, and snow!... Ok, I lie, but summer is coming and Mixed Greens is well on its way to becoming a staple.

I'm in love with this place. My friend and I try to meet up for lunch at least once a month and we usually end up at the Thompson center because of variety. No longer will we need to do that. Yay for building your own salad!! Mixed Greens impressed me. Great variety of toppings and really good quality stuff too. Nice and helpful staff, and you're not rushed. Portions are not too huge but not tiny either. Perfect for a meal. I'm still impressed at the level of freshness of everything too. I hate picking through a salad trying to pick out the brown bits of lettuce. The price wasn't bad for a loop lunch and what I got. I will definitely be back here again soon.

Great fresh ingredients for salads, but operations are chaotic. Lunch time is really crowded, which means you're yelling "Sunflower seeds!" over other diners heads, hoping the guy on the other side of the counter heard. The cookies on display look good but they are not wrapped, which makes me think everyone under the sun has breathed/coughed/yawned on them already. I'd love to order online but they don't offer the option to order a build-your-own salad (yet?). Seems like this place just needs to call in a process improvement expert and then it will be great.

Hands down my favorite salad spot near my office! I love the make-your-own options (lots of dressing choices too) and even though the lines can get a little long around lunch time, it's pretty speedy. They are friendly, the salad sizes are generous, and they throw in some pita with your order. Although the food is good, I'm not that thrilled with the seating area in the restaurant. It's not very cozy. My recommendation (when it's warm) is to get your salad to go and then find a nice spot along the river.

  • Jackie N.

So the salads here are pretty good. I used to come here about 2-3 times a week before I moved. I love the Greek Salad and the Mexiacali. They have very similar choices to Salad Spinners. The staff is super friendly. I used to order my salad online for speedy service, and if it was ever delayed I was always given something for free i.e. a cookie, a bottle of water, a puppy or a strong martini which helped me throughout the rest of the work day. Word to the wise - the salads are great but the free handout pita is nasty. It is also a really horrible way to mess up a healthy lunch (if you choose to go with less junk in your trunk...I mean junk on your salad route). Oh, and they use a punch card - free meal system! yay! I love getting punched!

Mixed greens is a good option when you're a Loop worker and tired of lunchin' on junk. I will be a loyal customer of anyplace making a great salad, and even though the place has it's good points, it's beginning to rub me the wrong way. I love that I can "build" my own salad and am not limited to a certain number of ingredients. They even use real bacon! However, I've been to this place about three times now and each time, they went really light on the dressing. So much so that I had to depend on the juice drippings of the tomatos and beets to add some moisture. I dunno, perhaps I'm suppose to taste the freshness of each and every item in there, but for $8, I likes my salad saucey. I suppose that's fixable upon request, so I won't whine about it too much. The paninis on the menu sound really good. Thus far, I've only tried the adult grilled cheese and look forward to trying more. I'm a big fan of the "big salad" with all the fixins and an even bigger fan of a sandwich/salad combo--which mixed greens doesn't have--or do they? Help me out here... The last time I went in I couldn't decide between a salad or a panini so I wanted a little bit of both. That's not totally unheard of, right? So I suggest it to the salad maker, and I'm told that they really don't do combos but they'll make it for you. ????? The guy at the register told me they do it but they don't advertise it. ???? Noted for next time. So I go today to partake, and I get the heavy sigh, blank stare and long pause when I make my request. Finally I ask, "okay, do you guys do a half salad/half sandwich or not?" Again, it's the answer of ambiguity: "We really don't do combos." Said with a smile nonetheless. I say, "Ok, because I won't order it if it's a problem." "No, no, we'll make it." ?????????? I get to the register and the guy tells me to pick out chips...okaaay???? Sounds like a combo.... Conclusion: from the sigh and annoyed, shifty eyes of the salad maker, I gather they will do a combo, but they really don't want anyone to actually order it--I think. I'm not sure if I'll be a regular yet, as I don't want to be the combo girl who gets the stink eye from everyone in there.

Over the winter, I tend to crave heavier foods, but Spring is here and it's time to start eating lighter since I can no longer hide under layers of clothing. It's time to eat healthy and grab a satisfying salad for lunch! And luckily, Mixed Greens provides just that! Yeah, yeah, yeah... so maybe I'm not exactly eating light when I order my salad with bacon, blue cheese, dressing, and chicken... but it tasted so good I'm looking forward to going back. The staff was friendly. And although the guy forgot to add avocado to my salad, I won't complain because the cashier under-charged me. Two wrongs do sometimes make a right. Since going there a couple days ago, I've found myself craving another lunch trip. I'll be going back soon.

Weather-permitting, I always trek down here during my lunch break if I'm trying to be healthy. Some have called it pricey, but considering the area and portion size you receive, it's a price I'm willing to pay. They have so many options for toppings and salad dressings, plus three different types of lettuce. There is always a line outside the door, but no worries - they're fast!

EEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Yuck! So I go here today for lunch. Now, I've been here several times in the past and have never had a problem but today, well, today was different. I ordered a vegetable salad (mixed greens, cucumbers, beets, tomatoes, and harts of palm with almonds and tofu and olive oil). I was disapointed that they only have cherry tomatoes, but okay. I get back to the office, ready to enjoy my delicious salad, and enjoy I do, until about five bites in when I look and there is a large bug. Not a tiny or even fly-size bug, but a large one that looked as those it should be hopping around outside with the grasshoppers. I seriously could have ate that thing! Well, I threw the whole salad out because who even knows where that thing came from and if I'll now get sick from it. I seriously should have taken a photo of that bug. Unbelievable. I would call and see if I could get my money back, but I'm just too grossed out to every set foot in there again.

I just got a salad here with raw steak on it. Believe me - I'm all for medium-rare steak, but this steak was hardly even seared. I had to pick most of it out. Then, I was left with a pile of cheese and hardly any veggies. They also gave me a stale piece of pita on the side. The only reason I'm not giving this place one star is that the pomegranate vinaigrette was delicious. Otherwise, this place is a massive fail.

This is my favorite lunch spot near my office. I try to be good most days & have a big salad for lunch & this is the best salad place in the area in my opinion. Love the build your own option (start with spinach, romaine or mixed greens) & the variety of toppings (strawberries, edamame, hearts of palm, etc., besides the usual expected veggies & beans), also the variety of cheeses (goat, white cheddar, parm, bleu) & the "crunch" options (nuts, sesame sticks, wasabi peas). It can get pricy when you start adding in proteins (chicken, salmon, steak) but hardboiled eggs & real bacon bits are free if you're trying to get meat in there & keep the cost down. Everything is very fresh & made to order in front of you. And even when the line is long it moves quickly. I've never tried the sandwiches, but they look good. One really cold day I had their tomato bisque & it was very tasty too.

I walked past this place 1 day en route to Chipotle. And based on what they had on the menu,i figured i'd come back to give them a try. So i settled on the Black 'N Blue Steakhouse Salad. I enjoyed the great portion of meat they gave me,i did not enjoy the dressing. So now i know next time to substitute. But the staff was very nice and courteous to me and i didnt have to wait very long. I am looking forward to going back for the Salmon Ceasar Salad

Mixed Greens is underwhelming to me, compared to Salad Spinners. Yes, the ingredients are fresh (though no moreso than Spinners), but I was really disappointed by the lack of variety in the ingredients. I like fancy things like artichokes, hearts of palm, peppadew peppers, dried cherries, israeli couscous... If I want a standard slightly fun salad, I can just go to Quizno's in Merchandise Mart's food court. Wendy's Oriental Chicken salad would also fit that bill. Also, I really enjoyed Salad Spinners policy of philanthropy and fostering community. I don't see that at Mixed Greens. However, Mixed Greens does seem like it would fit in Wrigleyville just fine, especially after reading one gentleman's comment about going to watch the "dimes."

  • Jen B.

Alright, so let's be real: No one really likes salad. I've never uttered nor heard uttered the phrase "Oooh, salad, my favorite!" We eat it so we don't get fat and to keep things moving down south. Fair enough. So to give this place four stars isn't to rank it on the same level with other, non-salad restos, but rather, to indicate it's ranking amidst its fellow leafy peers. And in that sense, Mixed Greens is in front of the pack. It's fresh, there are tons of topping options, they've got non-meat proteins galore, and a range of dressings. Not that I care, I only like vinegar on my salads. But I recognize that others appreciate this kind of thing. It gets crazy busy during lunch, obvs, so go at 11:30 or 12:45 if you want a quiet meal. One big plus is that they do punch cards, and I think it only takes five or six to get a free salad. Yay, free salad. *halfhearted high five*

  • Jennifer M.

Unfriendly staff, I was rushed and glared at. I was there just after the lunch rush too, and there wasn't anyone behind me. I got my salad to go - I wrongly thought it was universal that salads to go get dressing on the side. Twenty minutes later when I opened up my salad, it was soggy and there was way too much dressing on it- and I like dressing. I got the wheat pita, it was very 'wheaty' tasting, I'd go with white next time. The salad toppings area was a mess and lots of cross contamination was going on, I got a few random items in my build your own salad. Overall a lackluster experience, I love to build my own salad so I'll probably give it a try again, but not too soon.

    (2)
  • Amelie H.

I go to Mixed Greens at least twice a week. The build-your-own veggie is definitely the best deal. Not enough meat comes on the salads for me to justify paying extra. They will put EVERYTHING on your salad if you want! It's good for me too because I know I'll have at least a couple healthy, meat free lunches downtown each week. The staff are super nice and always put on extra ingredients when I ask. They'll also put extra salad dressing on it if you sit down and find out there wasn't enough. I always ask them to go easy on the salad dressing because they used to drown my salads. I have never had a problem communicating with the staff and I go there all the time, so I have no idea what Paul M. is talking about. I would have given them 5 stars if their dining room was more like a restaurant and less like a cafeteria.

    (4)
  • Mia M.

This place is great for their reasonably priced salads and friendly staff. They don't charge you extra if you want an extra topping or two, and if you don't want meat, they won't charge you for that either. One day I left my wallet at the office and after I asked them to hold my salad and I'd run back and get it, they refused and told me to take the salad for free. No fuss or anything. I will be a customer for life.

A friend of mine loves this place and recommended we go there for lunch. I was a little hesitant and hoping for something more substantial, but I figured why not? We got there pretty early to avoid the rush and we were the first in line. The line started to follow behind us though, so I asked the guy behind the counter which one his favorite was, and it was the Mexicali with chicken. My friend made her own salad. And...it was SO good! I loved it enough that I went back the next day. The only thing I didn't like was the pita they give you at the end - it's alright.

This has become my favorite lunch spot in the Loop, mainly because I have so many healthy choices! The staff is always uber-friendly and very quick when I'm on-the-run. I appreciate the great service and smiles, especially if I've had a busy or stressful morning.

Mixed Greens is legit the best lunch spot in the loop. Fast, friendly service with a smile. Freshest, healthiest, organic ingredients, unique and fabulous tasting sammies and paninis, wholesome, nutritious, fresh, homemade soups and chilis, outrageous selection of unique drinks, teas and energy drinks. To top it all off, they cater for business lunches, meetings and special events and the catering is just as good if not better. I eat here everyday not only because everything mentioned above but also because the owner makes my loins tingle. Amen for Mixed Greens. I hear there are some new locations on the way. Can't wait. Maybe they will add some new scrumptious treats for my taste buds to sing for.

I walk by Mixed Greens everyday. I've been waiting to try it as I read their delicious sounding menu walking by. I finally tried it today as I was looking for something light and healthy before a big GNO dinner tonight. Their extensive menu items choices seemed like a good option especially with grilled salmon since all I crave is salad and fish. Sadly, they didn't meet my expectations per that wonderful menu of items. The greens and veggies are fantastic coupled with the unique pomengrate dressing. However, I feel like I wasted $2 on the grilled salmon. The edges of the salmon filet were cooked perfectly and flaked beautifully. The inside, however, is completely undercooked if not cooked at all. Salmon should be light pink and flake with a little bit of toughness. Instead, the inside part of the salmon is bright pink and stringy. I threw away the salmon because it's inedible and I prefer not to get food poisoning. I may return to try some of their other offerings, but will completely avoid the salmon. I really want to like this place, but if you serve fish as one of your specialties, know how to cook it correctly.

I miss the old Salad Spinners. This place recently changed ownership and I still go there out of habit. The salads are now smaller (same price), they skimp on chicken and worst of all - the help behind the counter barely speaks english and are rude. This place is no where near Salad Spinners or the new Cafe 333 that just opened across the street. I bought a Mexicali salad today and it seems even smaller than the one I bought last week.

Fresh salads, unlimited mix-in ingredients, really nice and welcoming people. Perfect lunch place, as far as I'm concerned.

Went to mixed greens and I had the adult grilled cheese panini sandwhich. Very Tasty, a little heavy on the pesto mayo but I am not a fan of mayo so I won't take off points for that. The salads looked huge. The make your own is definitely a deal because you can choose from over 20 mix ins and the about 15-20 salad dressings. All in all I think this is a good, cheap, healthy spot in the loop for lunch.

This was an excellent find! Not only was the salad dirt cheap, but you could put anything in, and it was HUGE! I'm still a little bit in a coma. I didn't think that was possible from rabbit food, but I see that it is. Delicious!

I love this place and eat there almost every day! They assemble a salad but I pick all the ingredients and there are about 50 from which to choose. Each salad comes with pita bread. They also have panini sandwiches but I've never had one. My daily vegetarian salad with a bag of chips is $7.25. Good deal! I am a very loyal Mixed Greens customer. Half of the people who work there are family members and they are always welcoming and helpful. I once left my wallet there and they tracked me down before I realized it was lost and offered to messenger it to my house!

I know Salad Spinners was only mediocre but how can this place copy their menu while Salad Spinners is still in business? They use the same salad names but different ingredients. Hmmm... new staff (i liked the old one), same high prices ($8 something for my salad), looks like smaller portions. Miss

When Subway has gotten old and you want to avoid Jimmy John's, Chipotle, Einstein's, and others of that sort, Mixed Greens is an excellent alternative. It's nice to have a lunch spot in the Loop that's not focused on gigantic sandwiches. Try a gigantic salad instead! You can choose one from their menu or create your own. The options are endless and include anything, I at least, would think to put on a salad, and more! I went for the Chicago Cobb. I was really surprised at how large the salad was. You're paying $7.50 and as far as I'm concerned, you're getting your money's worth. The salad was stocked with chicken and veggies and bacon and a hardboiled egg. Your typical Cobb, just super sized! And of course the pita, which isn't anything special, but it's nice to have. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. I'm really looking forward to going back again and trying a different salad. (They divide their menu, so one side only shows completely Vegetarian salads which is also nice). I'm a fan.

This fast food salad joint has become my go-to for lunch in the loop. I'm not really partial to any of the designed salads (although the bistro and the cobb are pretty fantastic) but they have a great selection of toppings and dressings and I prefer to make my own any way. The only problem is figuring out what to put in! I've read some of the other comments here, and for my part I've never had a problem with the meat proportions. I've tried a few of the paninis when in the mood for something a little less heart friendly and they've all been delicious. The staff is friendly, and does a good job of keeping things moving even when the place gets packed (I've seen lines out the door). All in all Mixed Greens is quick, easy, healthy when I want it to be and always delicious. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a decent meal during their lunch break.

Buffalo Blue Chicken Salad should not be labeled as "Signature" as it was a hot sauce train wreck! There is nothing "crispy" about the cold, breaded chicken...just not worth the $8.

I love this place.. always was a fan of Salad Spinners, but it went downhill the last few months before it changed hands. This place has much fresher ingredients and a friendly staff. They are also very liberal with their toppings. Added bonus.. they use real bacon bits! Salads are a little pricey, but thats to be expected in this area and are no more than any place else.

this place is a find! i just got the mexicali salad + chicken. there wasn't a bad bite to it and it was only eight bucks. it's huge and would be an easy split--at least for the to-go portion. there are two soups daily and paninis to choose from along with about 8 different salads. if you're like me and aren't good at making decisions they have the salads made in the case so you can see what your getting. still not satisfied? you can make your own. i got my dressing on the side (a yummy cilantro lime+peanut) so i'm not sure how heavily they dress their salads, but it was fast, efficient, and most importantly the correct order when i got back to my office. the lines around 12:30 were next to nothing and what little one was there moved quickly. everything seemed to be extremely fresh. also a nice change. the chicken wasn't gross like it can be at say cosi etc. i will definitely be going back. excellent service. didn't have to repeat myself. thank you!

  • Megan B.

I go here at least once a week and love it!! All the ingredients are fresh, and the chicken is actually 'real' chicken -- no pressed and processed chicken parts like at ABP and Cosi. The workers are very friendly - in fact, they know me so well that they automatically know what I want when I step up to the counter. I can get a salad here with chicken and several other ingredients for $7.50, and it's fresh and yummy -- that's a lot more than I can say about other popular lunch spots in the loop.

Stopped in this pace today for a quick lunch. Love it! I had the Chicago Cobb and it was delicious. The portion was huge and the ingredients were quality. Fresh lettuce and good quality chicken breast. Plus the services was polite and fast. I will definitely be back.

The salads are only so-so but what I really have a problem is the service here. We had been waiting in line during the lunch rush the other day. Someone came up from behind the counter to take the order from someone 3 people BEHIND us. When we inquired about this at the counter, the staff was very defensive and told us that their manager had told them to take orders first from people who look like they were in a hurry or look like they knew what they are ordering and if we had a problem to go talk to the manager. Well we brought that up again with the manager working the cash register and he too was very defensive. He said that yes, that is their policy to not take orders by who is first in line but rather by those who look very important (ie are wearing a business suit) and if we had a problem with that we don't have to come back. Needless to say, we asked for refunds and are heeding that manager's advice in not coming back.

Gross.

Since they have moved to their new location the portion controls and process are much better. They still need to hire more people to handle the lunch crowd. Still a little over priced.

    (3)

Poor form.

  • Ariana S.

  • Erica W.

Miss
