Try this place once, and you will be hooked! The food is delicious, authentic, and healthy. Additionally, the freshness and portions make this place a great value. I was thrilled when Mish Grill opened in Chicago. I've cooked a lot less since they opened! I've been a loyal patron of their Munster, IN location for years as I have family to visit there- the food has NEVER been a disappointment (and we go there A LOT). The hummus, soups, and salads are great. I also really enjoy the veggie plate and asparagus chicken. I usually get dinner and lunch out of one of their entrees- everything warms up great the next day. The falafel is always a tasty treat too. The fact that the Chicago location is BYOB is also a great bonus. My husband is now a huge fan of this place too. He can't get enough of the chicken shwarma. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

What a delight! I wasn't expecting too much since it isn't the most 'trendy' looking place, but you know what they say, never judge a book by its cover'... The food was absolutely delicious! Truly the BEST HUMMUS and BABA GHANOUSH I've ever had in Chicago...probably anywhere in the US! The chicken shawerma was delicious and wasn't dripping in oil and grease (like a few of the other options in the area). The lentil soup was perfection as well. My husband had the 'kufta kabob' (meat) which was also delicious. I rate everything we tried a 10 out of 10. I didn't love the falafel as much as the other dishes, but I'm also a falafel snob so I wouldn't count that against this place. The staff (and owner!) were extremely pleasant and definitely worth mentioning. I can't wait to go back! DONT MISS OUT ON THE HUMMUS and BABA GHANOUSH!!!!!

Had the pleasure of dining at the mish grill. I really enjoyed the quality and flavor of the food. The service was great! It's a relatively new to the area, but truly a hidden gem. I highly recommend this restaurant. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. You won't be sorry.

Stopped in to get a falafel sandwich. Great sandwich. They gave Mr a free homemade chocolate while I was waiting. Definitely go back.

This place has amazing food! I'm very picky about my Mediterranean food, but this place is a must try. I've came here a few times and I like everything. My favorite has to be the apple cranberry Salad. The shawarma is amazing also. The staff is very friendly. Family owned and operated restaurants always have better service and food in my opinion. I hope this place stays around for a long time!

One of my favorite spots. Great food, great service, great people! Best chicken shawarma wraps in wicker park

The food at Mish was great. We had the Mish for 2 platter which was a sampling of many of the items on the menu and all were delicious!!! When you go be sure to try the dessert, the baklava and chocolate clusters are homemade recipes and were a great way to end the meal. The father and son who run the restaurant were very gracious and added to the experience.

The food is delicious here. Standouts include the baba ganoush, falafel, grape leaves, and complementary chocolates. I really enjoy the other Mediterranean restaurants nearby, but the food here is clearly better.

I love this place! They have 3 different kinds of falafels: traditional, cauliflower and eggplant. I've had them all and they are each very flavorful and different. Seriously, they make great food!

No, Mish Grill isn't the most elegant restaurant I've been in, but when the food is this good, who cares? I came here tonight with a very large group. We started of with a red lentil soup. This was seriously one of the best, creamiest lentil soups I've ever had with warm, subtle flavors. The soup was just a preview to how delicious everything else was. I'll give a rundown of the basics. The hummus was like velvet. The baba was dreamy. The hand-rolled dolmas was fresh as it could be. The spinach pies were fresh and flavorful. We had a carrot dish with herbs that was amazing. We had buttery yellow saffron rice, as well as another rice dish with caramelized onions. The baklava was nutty, flaky, mildly sweet and perfect. The olive oil is family-made and was buttery and mild. I would have been happy with just the olive oil and the soft, fresh pita bread. Mish is also a BYOB with a liquor store and a Jewel conveniently across the street. The owner came out and talked with us and told us about his life in his homeland and how he came to be a restaurant owner in the US. Everyone was so warm and welcoming. I kind of felt like family.

Mish Mish Mish Mish Mish Mish... I love saying their name, it sounds cute...don't judge. Anywaaayyy, I pass by this place on my way to work all the time and decided to finally stop by here one day. I was greeted by a really cool guy (did not catch his name), but he was super friendly and his dad was really nice as well. I first tried their chocolate raisin almond thing, which was like crack to me, honestly, I can probably eat at least another 10 of these. The kabob plate was really good, and the kufta sandwich was awesomeeeeeeee and not to mention huge. Delicious and fresh food. Do it.

Homemade Mediterranean food at a family establishment. The major selling point here is the quality of the food, over similar restaurants in the area. I am a big fan of falafel sandwiches and this place has my favorite right now. It is served as a wrap, with a fresh, quality pita and their homemade hummus. I have also eaten the beef stroganoff here, which was very tasty and a large portion I finished in two sittings. The decor of the restaurant is pretty basic now, but they just recently opened and probably did not want to invest too much on that initially. The family staff here is very friendly, and their original restaurant is in Munster, IN. I think if word gets around about the quality of the food, this restaurant could be a destination for finer Mediterranean dining. Most of the other places in the area are for quick eating or take out.

I ordered takeout via Grubhub and was a little skeptical when I came to pick up my order and found an empty dining room. However, I think it's just because it's in a weird location and the signage isn't very appealing because the food was SO good! I've been on a quest to find decent lamb-filled grape leaves (not veggie) in Chicago, and finally found them here. I got the grape leaves, hummus and kid's kufta plate, which was way more than enough food. They even gave me extra grape leaves without knowing about my obsession, which was definitely appreciated. Friendly service, too. I only wish that they also had the pureed garlic sauce to go with the dolmas, but I think that's more of a Lebanese thing and this place is Palestinian? Will be back soon.

Mish Grill definitely should be your go to Mediterranean spot in Wicker Park. It opened up conveniently right next to my work and I get it at least once a week! Like the previous reviews, it's a family owned establishment and their 2nd location but the only one in Chicago! So far I have had the falafel sandwich and it is SO fresh and delicious. The falafel is so flavorful and crispy! I also have had the chicken kabob and it doesn't disappoint either! The spices and flavor is just on point. Sultans who?? I highly recommend Mish Grill! I've been sending everyone their way!

New spot, opened right near my girlfriend's conveniently. We decided to try something new, and we were definitely not disappointed. The staff are super friendly, and it's all home made food. Literally, the super nice dude at the counter said, "my mom makes it." I felt like I was a guest in his home! Now onto the food. Best chicken shwarma I've had so far. Not too oily, fairly healthy, nothing too salty. Also, super generous portions. My girlfriend and I shared a chicken shwarma between just the two of us and we were satisfied, and I'm a big dude! Falafels were also very good. But here's what stood out that made me want to make this place a regular: the grape leaves. Get the grape leaves. Homemade, warm, delicious. You won't be disappointed, I promise. To top it off, you also get homemade chocolate just for waiting for takeout! Overall, I am sold. Definitely going back there. If there's one flaw, I would love some pita bread with my shwarma. But even Michael Jordan missed a couple shots here and there. Check this place out!

As the other reviewers said, my group was wary to enter the restaurant, but I'm glad we did. The service was friendly and gracious and the food was fresh and delicious! This is Mish grill's second location and I'm glad it's come to Chicago. Family-owned, the food here will not disappoint. Everything is hand-made and fresh -- especially the Olive Oil which they made themselves. Our group had the falafel, yogurt salad, feta plate, and pollo limon. Plus, of course, the pita and hummus, which I highly recommend. Not sure if everyone gets special treatment, but we also got handmade chocolate covered almonds and raisins with our check. Highly recommend.

I got the beef shawarma snd chicken shawarma and was not a fan. Then cuts of meat are too thick and lacks the shawarma spice and kind of bland. Would not order again. One good thing was their stuffed grape leaves had interesting flavored but at least had flavor.

This place was gross! Reviewers must be all family because the shawarma the worst I have ever had. Thick cut pieces of super dry chewy grissley chicken. Dry out, out of the bag pita, same Stuff you buy at a bad grocery store. Koko's is 1000 better! Never again but it will be out of business very soon.

Mish recently opened in a basement location that doesn't offer much to the eye. As the previous 2 restaurants that were here didn't seem to be any good, I was wary to try this new one. I went today for lunch and was pleasantly surprised: it's a cut above the other shawarma / falafel-type places in this area. I tried a few simple staples, and they all really stood out: the fried-stuffed grape leaves were amazing; the falafel is great, with a nice tart bright note that I haven't found in other examples and tastes really fresh; and the kefta sandwich/pita was similarly impressive, with simple fresh veggies and soft hunks of meat that manage a greater depth of flavor than others I've had in the city. The Turkish coffee is ground with cardamom and is pretty tasty (for Turkish coffee). Meals also come with a complementary chocolate, made in house (a kind of semi-dark chocolate molded around raisin and almonds) that was also delicious enough to make a real impression. The place is run by a father and son who own a similar place out in Munster that's currently run by the daughter. They were both so nice and engaging. Mish has definitely become my go-to for pita / kabob / shawarma in the neighborhood. And they offer some more intense entrees that can get pretty expensive, like a lamb dinner that I'm interested in and even some unusual finds like a beef stroganoff that they seemed to be pretty proud of. I'll have to come back to try those too! If other items on the menu are as good as what I tried today, I'll have to increase my review to 5-stars.

Yes, it's kind of in a basement. Yes, they have strobe lights around their windows. And yes, their menu is a Microsoft Word template. But trust me, one bite will make you a Mish believer. The chicken schawarma sandwich is perfect and the pita is everything. It's soft, warm, and the perfect thickness. The seasoning on the chicken and the sauce and the onions make this schawarma stand out from many of the nearby options. It's fresh and comforting at the same time (does that even make sense?). I don't write reviews very often, but I want this place to be around for a long time. Go today. Give them your $$ so I can live in soft, warm pita paradise forever.

Great food! Been wanting to stop in for a couple months. I'm glad I did. I enjoyed the Mish Special Platter for two with my fiancée. Left with enough food for another meal. The homemade desserts were awesome.

I walked in the place randomly as I live near by and just said why not try it out. I was not disappointed. The place offers a combination of influences of Lebanese (owner's heritage), French and Italian foods representing the styles the owner learned cooking at other fancy places. All I have to say is I eat this style food all the time and this is by far the best. I was there at lunch and had the lunch special and the variety on the plate gave me a great idea into the quality of everything else. Everything is homemade and attention to detail on food quality and portions was noticeable. I will be going back and taking friends with me. I even learned that the Beef Stroganoff is made with Fillet quality beef and the ground beef and lamb kabob is ground in house to increase the quality. The place is not much to look at but you quickly forget about that as soon as the food hits your mouth and you realize you made the right decision to go inside. The other reviews on here are all good and after sitting with the owner during my lunch I got a lot of great info on how he prepares food and his view on portions "If I charge you $1 for your food you need to leave full and happy". I love great food, I love passionate owners (that are nice) and I love BYOB.

My boyfriend and I have been walking by this place for awhile now. We finally tried it out tonight. And we are glad we did. This place is a hidden gem. We tried the Mish special which had a good sample of a variety of items on their menu. It was great! They also give a complimentary chocolate upon order - which is homemade and delicious. The owner and his son are very nice and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

I love Mish Grill! Admittedly, the interior isn't really up to date but food is to die for. I went there for dinner with my friends and we had an amazing time. Everything is home made and based on family recepies. We're coming back every once in a while and were never disappointed.

I'm always a little bit suspicious when I see restaurants open in this area. We've had a run of less than amazing restaurants on this stretch of Ashland for years, and I think that trend is finally changing with Mish Grill and Mott Street. Mish Grill isn't fancy, but it doesn't have to be because the food is fantastic. I've been there twice and both times it has been excellent. They have a very unique chicken schwarma sandwich that comes with yogurt, which was unexpectedly refreshing. Their hummus is tasty with red pepper and seasoning. In sum, I'll go back and enjoy that excellent chicken schwarma sandwich with yogurt whenever I have a craving for Middle Eastern.
