This is a pretty decent local Mexican places. Prices can't be beat, service is excellent, the food is pretty good. We have had tacos, tortas and once we had the molcajeteada and it was pretty neat. It's not the best place ever but it does the trick when you're hungry!

Lindo Guadalajara has become my go-to late-night Mexican place on the north side of the city. This place is 24-hours, so do yourself a favor and come here after a concert at the Aragon or Riviera instead of that horrid (but only conveniently located) Fiesta Mexicana place. I always order an horchata, which is some of the best I've had. My standards for tacos, lengua and tripe, are both great -- texture and taste-wise (it's important for my tongue and stomach meats to maintain a certain chewy but not overly chewy consistency!). The al pastor is also amazing. I love love love the soups as well, especially the pozole and the menudo, which both come with hefty servings of fresh toppings! The food comes out quickly, but the staff let you stay as long as you want, which is a nice change. My friends and I usually come here and stay for hours just chatting and catching up! Love love love this place!

This taqueria exists so that you don't end up at St. Boniface Cemetery (or pass out in front of Aragon Ballroom) across the street after hard-core partying and excessive drinking. Well, Rosa J. simply just got off work. At 2030 hour on a Sunday, take-out or dine-in food options are relatively limited. Lindo Guadalajara, located on the southeast corner of Clark and Lawrence, serves whoever is in need, 24/7. I just wanted my menudo fix since it was the weekend. However, Lindo Guadalajara might have menudo and pozole because I didn't see "solo fines de semana" on the menu. Any validation? Has anyone ordered a bowl of menudo or pozole on a weekday before? If the answer is affirmative, it can be a game-changer and Rosa J. can die happy by having menudo everyday! Otherwise, Lindo Guadalajara wouldn't be my top choice among many Mexican restaurants in the city. Except their horchata, it was quite delicious and had a good balance of sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Their torta de carne asada was offered in a "kiddie" size. Come on! I have had twice of the size at a taqueria inside the supermercato for the same or a similar price. My menudo ($8.50) wasn't anything extraordinary. Why does the north-side Chicago like to jack up the price for a bowl of menudo? They do have a minimum cap for a credit card purchase: $7 with a valid photo ID. Order a torta and a small horchata, then that requirement is met. Our total was $20 before tip. I will probably be back because there's no block-out hours, yet it's really for this reason alone!

Was driving down Lawrence and noticed there was a sign on this place that said 24 hours...for some reason that stuck in my mind. Me and my friend had quite a few drinks @ Uptown Lounge later that evening and was craving tacos and burritos around 2am. There is not a lot of places open late in Uptown that has late nite mexican and my go to place in Edgewater was closed at this point. Suddenly that 24 hour sign appeared in my mind. We drove 1 minute west on Lawrence and parked right in front. There were a few patrons there looking very pleased with their meal so I knew the place wouldn't disappoint. I got the al pastor (seems to be popular here) burrito which was very good along with the proper sauces. I saw they had horchata so I definitely had to have some to wash down the delicious burrito . Its good to know there is a place close by to take care of that late nite drunken sensation.

Not the best but the only thing open near navy pier after coming home from the club.i would never come back. I've had better. I would wait for Los Potrillos to Open to eat Mexican food. If you are looking for a 24hr venue, I suppose this will have to do

This is my new favorite dive! I had the combination fajita platter. The portion was generous and the flavors were great (for the type of restaurant this place is); I especially loved that they included avocado as a part of the meal. Mmm. They also have generous GOOD ice cream scoops for $1.5 I am both happy and nervous about knowing that this place is 24 hours and a quick trip from my house.

Had 2 steak tacos with cilantro, lettuce, onions & cheese. $2.50 each - cheese costs extra. They were pretty darn good and the meat was plentiful! I'll be baaaaack...

After a 1/2 combination of a Billy Idol concert at the Riviera and then jazz at Green Mill, we were ready for something to help balance out the booze we consumed the past 5 hours. Lindo delivers. Open 24/7, the restaurant is clean and well lit. My girlfriend ordered the queso fundido with chorizo and a taco al pastor. I opted for the taco dinner (tongue, pastor, chorizo) served with rice and beans. Stuffed with their respective meats and served simply with onions and cilantro, the tacos were delicious. I was really impressed with the tongue. It was tender yet not mushy as I have had in other places. My girlfriend's fundido was more chorizo than queso but with extra chips, it definitely hit the spot. After gorging, we left full and a little less drunk for our train ride back to our hotel. If ever in the area again, I guarantee my slightly buzzed self will be back.

I've been here twice in the past couple of weeks for drunk food. I wasn't particularly drunk, but Taco Bell in Wrigleyville was packed and this was the next thing we could think of. I've ordered the steak torta, shared the melted cheese appetizer and their chips and salsa. The torta is a bit small compared to other places that I've been to. The melted cheese appetizer was difficult to eat because it hardened quickly as if it were microwaved. It was a bit bouncy and hard after 5 minutes of eating. The service is friendly, given they have to deal with drunk people all the time. It's convenient because it's open 24/7, but I'd rather go down to the Mexican place by my house. Ah, if only it didn't close at 4AM!

Can't go wrong what this place !! Open 24 hours!!!! What ! Great Mexican food! Signature torta and I just try the Pozole Rojo and I'm taken to literally Guadalajara when I tried their Pozole style 5 years ago. I'm sold !!

Hands down one of the best late night Mexican places in Uptown. Super friendly and super fast, they are the place to stop in the way home. Any combo is delicious and they're open 24 hours for that middle of the night or middle of the day craving. Don't forget a horchara.

My new fav Mexican spot. When I'm hungry at 10 or 11 I come here for the al pastor tacos and fajitas combinadas. The place is decently priced but the best part is that it's open 24 7.

  • Olga B.

Wow, what a great experience. We got Fajitas combination....shrimp, steak, chicken. Great flavor, hot skillet, big portion. Chips and salsa were served so crispy and fresh. The place was very clean and our server - what a joy!!! She greeted us with a big smile and made us feel like home. I strongly recommend. 5 stars!!!!

Being that this place is close to me, I've always passed it and never went in. When I got my massage and teeth whitened (I know...), I decided to get something to eat. This was the closest place and a place I wanted to try. With it being early afternoon, there were only two other people in the place. I was able to sit anywhere I wanted. I was greeted by the hostess and she was also the waitress. I ordered three tacos (chicken, pork and steak). All were delicious. Meal came out quick, and it was fairly inexpensive. Will definitely go back...

I recently moved to the area and have found it difficult to find quality food. I don't think I'm overly picky, I define quality simply as 1.fresh and 2.tasty I've been asking friends to recommend places and I heard of this place so I gave it a shot... It was 1am and I'm hungry. I walk in, there's a table of 3 and 3 other patrons so it's looking good at this point. There appears to be only one woman working alone up front. It takes her longer to attend to me than it would have taken me to drive the extra trip to actual steak tacos. Horchata: fake powder stuff, not real rice stuff Salsa: watery Chips: commercial grade, straight out of the bag It's now north of 1:30 and the tacos are coming my waayyy so I'm stoked because I feel like a starved subject in a Pavlov experiment. I started with the al pastor, which was not bad. Rather monotone, lacked complexity. Then I took a bite of the steak which didn't seem to be seasoned at all. Very grey taste, other than the vegetables and attempted salsa. I couldn't stomach 2 bites before my curiosity overcame my hunger and I fully inspected the ingredients. Old and overcooked, Nothing more than ground beef and some fat chunks, even had a nice hard piece of cartilage (which I'm super glad I didn't bite.) disgusted for what passes for food around here. I set the plate on the edge of the table and waited another good while for service. Once the server arrived she asked if I needed anything else. Clearly being passive about all of the food left on the plate. I was clear at voicing my opinion of the quality of the food; inedible. She then tries to convince me that the food is good enough for her kids, which is her prerogative. Poor kids. I didn't eat half of that filth, while really hungry. She removes the plate and comes back with a bill for everything. The least she could have done was deducted a taco. A tip for all of you steak lovers... Real steak never comes minced or diced. I feel like this place thrives off of feeding trash to drunks in the wee hours for a huge markup. Conclusion: terrible service, food even worse. Next time you're in there I suggest you open your taco, torta, burrito or what-have-you and try not to cringe. I would rather have been a Pavlov dog. They ate better. I mean c'mon their mouths were watering. Nothing like that to be found here. Sad. I've had better tacos in Middle America. Not like Central America. Like Springdale, Arkansas. Sad.

I went here for the first time for some late night tacos. The place looked like a hole-in-the-wall, which told me the tacos were probably good. I ordered a couple lengua tacos along with an al pastor taco. The lengua tacos were juicy and delicious! The al pastor taco was also very flavorful. I washed them all down with an horchata. Minus one star because dessert was an EPIC FAILURE. We ordered two fried ice creams. The waitress brings them to our table. We take our first bites only to discover...THEY WEREN'T FRIED ANYTIME RECENTLY. The fried outer later was ice cold. When I order a fried ice cream...I at least expect the outer layer to be warm. The fact that the outer layer wasn't crispy also was a dead giveaway. It was like eating stale cereal. I asked my waitress when they were cooked. She lied and told me they were fresh. She must have meant fresh from the freezer, after being cooked last week. We sent them back and the waitress replaced them with some flan. The flan was good. I'll be back here. I just won't be ordering the fried ice cream. Open 24/7.

This has to be one of my favorite places in Ravenswood/Uptown! From their friendly staff to their extremely quick service they are outstanding. I highly recommend their quesadilla dinner or their carne asada burritos!

In search of a local authentic taco place with my boyfriend a few weeks ago, and kept ending up at "chipotle" type places.. finally we landed at Lindo Guadalajara. Steak tacos were served incredibly quick, and fresh. Great flavor.. and the place was clean. We have been there 3 times since, and will keep coming back!

Best Mexican food in Uptown! I love that: - that its tacos are made with fresh ingredients and corn tortillas - LG offers fresh squeezed carrot-orange juice - it is open for 24 hours - it is close to my home - its service is nice - the food is pretty reasonably priced for the amount of food (this is coming from a cheapskate) - it accepts credit cards

Great carne asada for the price, and also loved the homemade salsa. I'm jealous of Uptown and Andersonville for having this close by them.

(3 a.m. on a Tuesday) Hot, fresh tortilla chips, fast, relatively friendly service, super hot red salsa, al pastor tacos fairly tasty. The tacos were packed with meat. They were greasy, as pastor always is, but pretty good. The tortillas were a little dry, but not particularly bothersome. I ordered one with only onion and cilantro, the other I added sour cream, cheese and avocado. [Server forgot the avocado and I had to get up and get it, but it was handled quickly and in a friendly manner.] The extras were piled so high that they actually fell off my taco upon the first bite. :-) The flavor of the meat was completely drowned out by the toppings on that one. I'll get them basic from now on. They were wonderful tacos for 3am and pretty good for any time of day. Ambiance was very casual and well-lit (too bright if you're having a bad hair day!). Two tvs on the walls to keep up on "the" futbol match or Telemundo news cast. At that time of night there is only one server. She clearly had been busy (a good sign) because most of the tables were still dirty with plates on them (a not-so-good sign). Overall, worth the money. Great food for this time of day on a Tuesday. Since I'm a complete night owl, I will definitely be back!

Wow! This place is really good. Yelp did not steer me wrong. Came after the Empire of The Sun concert awhile back with some hungry bellies! Ordered the three taco dinner. Al pastor was tender and tasty. The steak was soft and tasty. Would come again if in the area!

We were staying around the corner at a rented house during the bitter cold Chicago winter. We wanted something close by that was good, and Yelp claimed that Lindo was a good place to go. Well, Yelp was right! Lindo Guadlajara is a greasy spoon taqueria, with tasty food and great prices. Their guacamole was fantastic. On top of that, they were open at all hours. Our schedules were all over the place, so that made life so much easier.

Small, earnest Mexican diner with a big menu, good food, and great prices. 24x7 hours are a big bonus.

  • Terri D.

OH MY GOD! DO NOT EAT HERE! I went with my friend for lunch because we saw the price of a the super cheap buffet, so why not? What could go wrong? Oh I dunno, how about hugging the fucking toilet from 2 to 8 am. Thanks for the food poisoning from your nasty ass food! But the horchata was great.

  • Lauren S.

Late flight into Chicago, lots of restaurants closed in Andersonville. Had low expectations of the hole in the wall 24-hour Mexican restaurant but it ended up being amazing. Tortas were out of this world. Quick service, walkable area, would visit again no matter the hour!! I don't think they had much in the way of vegetarian or seafood but it is especially good for carnivores.

  • Mikey M.

The tacos and tamales are my standard for Mexican fare, get those right and the place shouldn't be a bad spot to hit for quick, cheap eats. Overall it wasn't bad and the tacos are all priced about the same price at about $2 each. The meat was good but I have been to other places which pack on more ingredients on your taco for about the same price. Moreover, the size was a bit smaller than other taco places I,ve been to which use bigger, pricier flour tortillas instead of corn based ones. The tamales were good as well and wasn,t dried out or stale. The sign about the tamales out front says they're homemade and it looks and tastes legit to me. I,d hit this place again for other stuff on the menu. The place looks clean, food gets out fast and it is 24 hours. I only gave it 3 stars because it had good food that hits the spot but it didn't really impress.

    (3)
  • Jazmin B.

It's hard to mess up a simple carne asada taco but these looked like they were made with mystery meat. They were horrible. If you want quality food I wouldn't go here. The only perk was that they're open 24/7.

    (1)
  • Angel M.

Even the one star is being way to nice, I've never had such bad Mexican food in my life! Tasted like everything had old spoiled butter in it. A wast of money and time. The guacamole was not fresh it was brown. I hate nothing more than wasting food but this is not food, I wouldn't give it to a dog.

    (1)
  • Andrew K.

Fairly mediocre place but worth a try. Overpriced for what you get. Will suffice for a late night Mexican food itch.

  • David R.

I targeted LG for two reasons--one, I am on a mission to try all the taquerias in the Lawrence Taco Corridor near my home, and two, the strenuous recommendations of a handful of old Yelp friends (looking at you, Jelena, Yanyao, and mcquake). So for the record, yes the al pastor is very good. However--I was actually flabbergasted by the chicken tacos. Yes, chicken, typically an afterthought (so it seems ) at most taco joints. They're always dry and/or chewy and/or flavorless. Not here. You get moist, savory pulled meat, not tiny chopped up bits of unidentified, overcooked meat like everywhere else. Seriously, try the chicken tacos. The carne asada is forgettable, and the barbacoa is quality meat but bland. The salsa verde is nice, so dribble some of that on whatever you get.

  • Jelena Z.

When dining at Lindo Guadalajara, you only need three words: al pastor tacos. I tried a carne asada taco, but those came dressed standard with tomatoes and lettuce... and, they forgot to keep their tomatoes. It's like people don't actually believe I hate them when I throw down the 86 axe (correction: abhor. Sounds much more serious). And then I unwrapped what turned out to be a glorious pile of smoky pork covered with onions and cilantro atop a double corn tortilla. They supplemented my treasure with a side of red salsa; I squeezed on the lime. Whoever said that real tacos don't exist on the northside... wait, that was me! I've been proven wrong. If you're dining alone, they have bar stools in the front, diner-style. Why don't more taquerias do this? Commit to spending $7 and produce an ID and they'll let you use your credit card (truth). And, you can do it all night long: Yep, this taqueria doesn't close.

  • Yolanda M.

I had tacos with chips and salsa. The salsa had no flavor it was just hot and it took atleast 15 min before I could get anything to drink. I enjoyed the flavor of the meat from the steak tacos, who puts carrots on tacos? The waitress was a bit rude, like we were bothering her.

I came for the advertised buffet "Lunes a Viernes 11am-3pm" when I arrived around 1pm they told me that they cancelled it about 3 months ago. I wish that they would remove the buffet advertisement.

Good solid Mexican food. It's open 24/7 which is so awesome. I'm a nurse and I typically eat "breakfast" here after working night shift, a couple of times a month, when I decide I want carbs and cheese! I usually get the queso fundido with chorizo, which does get firm after five minutes but just cut it with a knife and fork and all is well. I also like to get the seasoned pork tacos, and sometimes a plate of French fries. And always, always a large horchata! The buffet looks funky so I don't recommend that. The place is plain and bare but no one bothers you. I sit and read the paper and thank God I live in Chicago where I can eat Mexican food at 0800 that I didn't have to cook!

I must admit, I have only been to Lindo Guadalajara during the early morning hours, but every time service has been simply amazing. Servers at late night places deal with a bunch a drunk-ass people and jerks who have no respect for these late night restaurants and their servers. The servers here at Lindo Guadalajara ignore all the drama and serve everyone with respect and a smile. And the food here isn't greasy over-cooked Mexican food. The meats and veggies are delicately cooked and well seasoned. The cooks there take pride in their food even if it is at 4 a.m. in the morning. My absolute favorites are the Al Pastor Tacos with only cilantro and onions, claro que sí. The pork is crisped on the flat top, but remains moist and picante on the inside and is served in warmed tortillas and topped with finely chopped cilantro and white onions and lime wedges on the side. ¡Delicioso! Got hungry pangs? LIke Mexican? Do you think Guadalajara is beautiful too? Then Lindo Guadalajara is the Mexican joint for you! ¡Buen Provecho!

I can always count on this place to deliver on their delicious foods. I was sucked into this place for their al pastor tacos and have returned numerous times ever since. Tried several of their other dishes, and those were good too. But I'll probably keep ordering the al pastor tacos and horchata (rice water drink). I've always had the same waitress and she's always super friendly and nice. Even when I order with my 'broken' Spanish, she indulges me. Gotta love the hospitality. Great food, service and open 24 hrs. That's a keeper in my book.

  • Ches W.

Excellent food, even better that it's open 24 hrs! Yes, we were all a little drunk, but not sloppily so. We had spent the balance of the night at Green Mill, and needed to walk off some of the alcohol, and needed some chow to help soak it all up. too. We had the tortas, pastor tacos, I think I got the steak gordita. All were phenomenal. I was sober enough to know this was pretty darn good food. And a very friendly staff, quick service.

  • Derrick M.

Pros: open 24/7; food is often good; prices are decent; very good chorizo; extensive menu Cons: food is often bad and hastily prepared; meat is too greasy; asada is bland and dry I live -far- too close to this place to not frequent it. It's nothing spectacular, but worth 3 stars because sometimes you luck out and get one of the better cooks making you a great burrito or torta at 2 a.m.

Some of the best taqueria-style Mexican food you can find in Chicago! The Tacos de Lengua are the best I have ever had anywhere in the city. The Al Pastor are right up there too. Oh, and while you're at it get some of their horchata (amazing).

I LOVE THIS PLACE. It used to be El Quijote and on my wedding day, I demanded this as my late night meal. That's some serious loving. Now that it has been Lindo Guadalajara for a while, I go at least once a week. I would probably go 5 times a week if J would allow me, but he cannot eat tacos from the same place 2 days in a row apparently. Not me, tacos all day, every day. Anyway, I come here for one thing: Taco dinner, 2 al pastor and 1 lengua. The lengua is eaten first , with a generous squeeze of lime and some red salsa on top. Tilt head to the left and shove taco in mouth. Let the combination lime-salsa-lengua juice run onto the rice. Then repeat with the 2 al pastor tacos (my all-time porky favorite since I've been coming here). Then I eat the rice with some porky pieces falled from the taco mixed with the beans, sit back and consider ordering a few more (I never do though). Other reasons to love: - Open 24/7, 365 days. - Super friendly staff. - Food comes out FAST. - Horchata! - They take CCs over $7. - Homemade tamales - Actually, most of the menu that I've tried is very good. The soups are GIANT and very tasty. The gordita is a delicious porky, corny, beany, mess. But for me, it is all about the taco: al pastor, onions, cilantro, double corn tortilla, lime, salsa... heaven!

Soooooo.....I eat here WAAAAY too much. This is our go to place when it's late at night and neither of us feel like cooking or we've had a little too much to drink. Like most Mexican style restaurants, they immediately bring out the chips and salsa. Good thing, because I love me some chips and salsa! I always get the Burrito Suizo, but with avocado instead of meat. My boyfriend usually switches it up and has liked everything he's tried. It's always way too much food for us to eat in one sitting, so we always have enough left over for one of us to have lunch the next day. Everything is always fresh and tasty. It's usually really packed with only one server, but they are always super speedy.

After hearing about this place for so long, I finally went a few nights ago at around 3am. Surprisingly, I was not drunk. Although I can see this place being perfect drunk food :) The complimentary chips & salsa were good. I liked that the chips were still warm & fresh. Open 24 hours, awesome food, big portions, good prices, & so much CHEESE! I loved it. I will be back again soon :)

24 hours?! Thank god. This is the place to go if you have a craving for Mexican food & it's like 11 or 1 at night LOL. I usually get the enchilada platter which comes w/ 3 enchiladas and rice & beans with lettuce. I really like it b/c for some reason, I can never find a place w/ good tacos & enchiladas! Why are they so hard to find?! Anyways.. their carne asada anything is good. Their al pastor is amazing! My boyfriend usually gets a torta & tacos so the food here is pretty decent. They also take credit/debit cards which I really appreciate (just make sure to have your ID). Free chips and salsa if you dine in!

It's a dangerous game when you eat one of the best things you've ever had in your life (i.e. THIS: yelp.com/biz_photos/-bMZ… ), and then you can never eat it again because it lives in Arizona. My boyfriend and I have been craving that molcajeteada for months... and every time we think we've found something similar, it breaks our hearts. That's how we ended up at Lindo Guadalajara. He recently moved nearby and saw the molcajeteada sign on the exterior of the building so he thought we should give it a shot... I seriously wish I could be playing that song from Charlie Brown right now, you know where he's hanging his head in sadness. That's how I feel. The service here was friendly and they had some awesome Mexican talk shows on the TV, but the food was just so-so. We started with a chicken quesadilla, which was tasty but a bit soggy on the bottom and probably should've been on the burner longer. We also split the molcajeteada, which is this stone caldron (the molcajete) filled with a little salsa on the bottom and different grilled meats and things hanging on the outside. Major sadness when we saw that it was nothing like what we had eaten in Arizona. I'm going to try to be objective though and just judge it for what it is. The sauce at the bottom was just their regular salsa, but a bit spicier. Not too exciting there. There was plenty of chicken, a few shell-on shrimp and too many huge sticks of bland cheese (why the cheese at all? this was genuinely gross and that's coming from someone who loves cheese). I liked the nopales and the asado best. It also came with some pinto beans and corn tortillas that were fairly standard. Despite not living up to my expectations on the molcajeteada, I'd say this place is OK for inexpensive, quick, standard Mexican eats. However, it wasn't good enough that I'm in a rush to go back and I would definitely order something else if I did make a second trip here.

How many Mexican restaurants are open 24 hrs a day? How great is that? I've been here twice for dinner now (new to the neighborhood) and I am happy to report that the service has been swift, the staff friendly, and the food consistently good. The Burrito Suizo is marvelous; the pork tender and not chewy and the salsa is perfect. Heat without tearing you up! I will definitely be a regular.

Who knew that corn flakes were essential in turning ice cream into fried ice cream? I had no clue. I always remembered a frightening crumbly mess as a kid. This though... this is a cinnamon-sugared deep fried tortilla shell, with ice cream sitting in it like a baby boomer in a hot tub -- covered in sugar & fried corn flakes. Yeah. If I were 19 again, ripping bong loads and a year's supply of adderall I would have never thought of this gem of an idea. The service here was faster than placing my order. I stumbled in here at 3am with a group of 11 people and they handle the situation like champions. All orders were correct and prompt, and that neon oasis on Lawrence Ave was no mirage, it was a safe haven. If it was a snow storm and we needed a warm shelter and a blanket... it was this place that wrapped us in their giant bowls of queso fundido.

Really yummy tacos. Like surprisingly yummy. The al pastor is so flavorful and has a really nice charred texture and color. My friend had the steak tacos and the meat was great, flavorful and really tender. Fresh squeezed orange juice was nice. Our server was nice but she forgot to give us things like napkins and water until we asked. But, you know, you don't really go to a taqueria for 5-star service, so I can forgive her. The salsas could have been better. I usually go for verde but theirs was terrible. It tasted bland, like it was from a bottle rather than made fresh. The salsa roja is OK. The only really bad part of my experience was a mysterious mold/mildew aroma right inside the door. Maybe their rug needs cleaning? It almost made me turn around and walk out, but I'm glad I didn't.

I don't think I've ever been here earlier than midnight, sober even, for that matter. With that said, this is the best place to get some Mexican food at whatever hour. The staff is great and the food comes out fast. A warning though: their chilaquiles rojo (red) salsa will burn your ass! It's definitely not for the weak.

Best tacos I've had in the city, by far, and super cheap. What more could you ask for? It's BYOB between 11am-11pm but I would just recommend getting takeout.

The new management did a good thing by sprucing up the sign and making this place a bit more welcoming--can't tell you how many times I drove past it when it was El Quijote and thought, "Hmmm..." Still not anybody's idea of nicely appointed inside, but it is pleasant, if a little bare. I went for the lunch buffet. Mexican buffets are usually not very good, although i always want them to be. Lindo Gudalajara falls somewhere short of excellent but firmly in "better than worth it" territory. First off, the buffet is a true adventure in that if you don't recognize it, you're eating blind--nothing was labeled at all. Everything looked good but the rice, it actually reminded me quite a bit of an Indian buffet with all the "meat/sauce" dishes on there. The tamales were really good; moist and balanced between masa and pork. They were small and round instead of cyclindrical, too. Biggest and best surprise was some sort of chicken. Pieces were individually wrapped up in foil, and it looks like they basically roasted chicken legs in foil with cilantro and onions and spices. It was off the hook! So tender it fell off the bone, and it filled up the corn tortillas the server brought me quite nicely. Give it a shot, totally worth $6.95.

Isn't it just such a nice tongue twister?!? I love it!!! Alliteration paradise! Lindo, Night of Halloween, 3am: the place is jumping. Britney and Kevin storm in, rush to the bathroom (it looks highly suspicious) and settle down at the counter. I am fascinated. I don't need to look at the menu; I came for one thing, and one thing only - al pastor tacos. And also to dissipate my Carol's induced hazy state. Chips and salsa appear on the table, followed by magical little rounds of masa imbibed with yummy pork fat; it's orange, green, white, glistening, piping hot, fragrant and delicious. I sigh with delight. The zombies of the night can't beat this love.

Stumbled across this winner in our peregrinations. Seriously, my beau and I picked up birding and had been observing some Peregrine Falcons not far from Lindo Guadalajara when hunger hit. Seasoned mexican food restaurant goers, we couldn't believe how blown away we were by this place. My beau loves him some horchata. Me? Not so much...until Lindo Guadalajara. When we came back - like three days later - I ordered one for myself! The horchata is the perfect beverage if you want to keep amping up your spice and this restaurant really knows how to give you the spice with some heat in that oh so freakin good way. Everything we have had there has been great from a chile relleno, chorizo torta and tamale for him to cheese enchiladas for me. The staff is super friendly. We will be back. We are the couple in booth 7 in the back where it is a bit cooler. (smile)

This is my neighborhood spot. I go here whenever I crave Mexican Food. It's a safe bet for getting my Mexican fix! I usually order from their breakfast options (Huevos alla Mexicana w/ cheese on top) and tacos. It's all quality stuff. plus + They are super quick + Ingredients are basic, but tasty (no unexpected flavors) + Service is great, friendly + Buffet option (everyday, before 3pm) + Affordable $$$ + Open 24 hours (whether you want to go here for breakfast or after a night + Elaborate menu minus - Place is not all that pretty, the bathroom is ugh, ugh, ugh - after-hours will bring in your Uptown weirdos - now require you to show photo if you're going to pay w/ credit card (extra step) - sometimes, folks will come in and try to sell you socks and other things while you eat, major blah

I have eaten at this place quite a bit because it is in the neighborhood and I am always up for some fast, take-out Mexican. The food is fast and inexpensive, they are open 24 hours, and the service is friendly. It is great for after the bar, or for a quick and easy dinner. However, I only gave it 3 stars because I have had better Mexican take-out for a comparable price. I am not a vegetarian, but I have learned to only order vegetarian items because the the alternative items are not very good. Also, I am a sucker for guacamole, but they have somehow managed to make it pretty yucky.

This place was a lifesaver at 4am on a Saturday night. Not only was the service fabulous, but the food was delicious and very fast. I had the Carne Asada Gordita and the Barbacoa Taco, about $5.99 total and completely filling. The ground beef nachos and shredded beef burrito were also amazing!

My original review was filtered unfairly. I would just like anyone who happens upon it to know that I am of sane mind, and have worked in the service industry for the last 12 years. I would NEVER treat someone the way I was treated by the staff member who cussed me out in front of a restaurant full of people and then hung up on me after shorting my order. I won't return, and have told all of my friends who used to frequent LG of this.

Love the 5 AM suizo asada burrito. The food came out super quickly and was extremely hot. I tried to wait for it to cool down but I couldn't so I ended up burning off most of my tastebuds. Hurt so good.

Tried the buffet for the first time...amazing price for what you get. I have been to places with more of a selection, but not with as much meat. Chicken legs, pork chops, ribs, barbacoa plus rice/sides, salad and desserts. They also had pigs feet (which I love). Went with hubby but think it was $6.99 plus taxes. That is a whole lot of eating for under $10 and the food is fresh, not sitting under heating lamps. Highly recommend it

The only thing I have had here is the chicken caldo and its fantastic! It had been over a year since I had last eaten here and the soup was just as good as I recalled it to be... if you like chicken caldo this is the place to get it! The waitress is super friendly... a great hostess.

Love this place. I went with a group of 8 after some drinks at Simon's down the street and Everyone loved their meals. The food was super fast an it's 24 hours! Great little hole in the wall place for good mexican food.

The steak burrito I ate from here was one of the worst I've ever had. You could just tell the steak came pre-chopped in a plastic bag, swimming in it's own grease and gristle. ugh. I was starving, and ate a good bit of it before I decided I'd rather eat cereal. I won't be back, even if I'm starving.

This place is pretty good and the tacos are pretty big. I usually order 3 alpastor, but ended up giving one to my boyfriend. I had the Menudo the other night and it was very tasty. You can only pay with card if you spend more that $7 bucks (this is why I also have to get 3 tacos). I will diffidently keep stopping by and getting my tacos on my way home from work.

Meh, the tacos that I tried here -- carne asada, al pastor and cecina -- were only alright. This is yet another in a long line of overrated north side taquerias.

Can't go wrong what this place !! Open 24 hours!!!! What ! Great Mexican food! Signature torta and I just try the Pozole Rojo and I'm taken to literally Guadalajara when I tried their Pozole style 5 years ago. I'm sold !!

  • Rosa J.

5 stars!!!!

Sad.

Not the best but the only thing open near navy pier after coming home from the club.i would never come back. I've had better. I would wait for Los Potrillos to Open to eat Mexican food. If you are looking for a 24hr venue, I suppose this will have to do

This is a pretty decent local Mexican places. Prices can't be beat, service is excellent, the food is pretty good. We have had tacos, tortas and once we had the molcajeteada and it was pretty neat. It's not the best place ever but it does the trick when you're hungry!

Open 24/7.

(3 a.m. on a Tuesday) Hot, fresh tortilla chips, fast, relatively friendly service, super hot red salsa, al pastor tacos fairly tasty.

Wow! This place is really good. Yelp did not steer me wrong. Came after the Empire of The Sun concert awhile back with some hungry bellies! Ordered the three taco dinner. Al pastor was tender and tasty. The steak was soft and tasty. Would come again if in the area!

  • Jazmin B.

It's hard to mess up a simple carne asada taco but these looked like they were made with mystery meat. They were horrible. If you want quality food I wouldn't go here. The only perk was that they're open 24/7.

Best tacos I've had in the city, by far, and super cheap. What more could you ask for? It's BYOB between 11am-11pm but I would just recommend getting takeout.

I came for the advertised buffet "Lunes a Viernes 11am-3pm" when I arrived around 1pm they told me that they cancelled it about 3 months ago. I wish that they would remove the buffet advertisement.

I had tacos with chips and salsa. The salsa had no flavor it was just hot and it took atleast 15 min before I could get anything to drink. I enjoyed the flavor of the meat from the steak tacos, who puts carrots on tacos? The waitress was a bit rude, like we were bothering her.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
