Yummy new option in the hood. The hot dogs were great. The beef would be better as a dip. It's a little on the dry side. Definitely going back.

I would give Hot Dog Station 4.5 out of 5 stars. Really yummy! Cheese fries were a 5 out of 5 stars. Fries were really tasty and good and the cheese sauce was good too. Not the kind that is flavorless like it can be sometimes. Their chicken sandwich was 5 out of 5 stars too. Service was very good. Clean inside. The only draw back was that I thought the hot dog was a bit small. Long but not too wide. Also, they have soup every day but didn't have soup made the day I went. Oh well. Otherwise it, and everything else was delicious! Would definitely return.

I was excited to here about this place since its close by my house so I went in ordered 2 hotdogs I was really looking foreword to a nice warm hot dog on a steamed bun but wen I took a bite of the first dog bun was cold sort of getting on the hard side and the actual wiener was not even warm it was cold everything they put in there was great all the trimmings were very good so I thought ehh maybe it was a bad one the 2nd would be better but nope was just as cold and hard as the first one again the trainings were perfect had great taste just te dog and bun were cold if they were warm I'd be writing a good review but maybe ill give it another chance hopefully it's better next time I come here

Finally stopped in here after reading all the good reviews. The hot dogs were great, the fries were absolutely fantastic, the service was quick and super friendly, and I have no idea how they keep the place so clean, but it's sparkly... We'll absolutely be back. It's great for the neighborhood -- lets all make sure they stay busy and stay here!

got a couple veggie dogs here tonight (lightlife - vegan jumbo dogs i think). the guy who took my order was super friendly and made coming here really pleasant. i had previously stopped in to ask about vegan options, he told me they also have dr praeger's veggie burgers and are updating the menu. they cook the fries in separate oil from the meat, and have a special meat-free area on the grill. the fries were pretty good but there weren't that many of them. i have to say that they need to work a little bit on the fine art of cooking veggie dogs (could have used more sizzle to get the skin a little wrinkly) but it was totally worth it for $2.50 a dog. i'm giving 5 stars for being vegan friendly so close to my neighborhood of mayfair, which is a vegan food dessert aside from falafel.

Clean, easy, and tasty. A really great addition to the neighborhood. We've tried the Maxwell polish, the Chicago dog and the fries. All were really good. The service was outstanding and the owners were very attentive. Sorry to gush, but I'm really glad to have something like this in Albany Park.

Good/friendly service, clean establishment and convenient location by the El. Very happy to have them in the neighborhood. They even have veggie dog and veggie burger options. Will go back and recommend to others!

Love it. My favorite is the chorizo dog; the chicken sandwich is a second. I probably eat there too often. :-) But the fried...ah, the fries are IMO are better than McDonalds! . The owners are warm and staff always a pleasure to deal with. I love the fact that the owners care about the neighbhood they do business in. All neighborhoods should have such businesses and business owners.

Love,Love,Love this new Hot Dog Hot Spot! It is a big bite of fabulicious! My husband and I went there for dinner with our four children and we basically tried many things on the menu. The italian beef was really delicious with just the right amount of gravy. The fries are really yummy and crispy just the way my kids like them. The place is so immaculate and clean, with a great decore. The many different kinds of hot dog flavors is a plus there is something for everyone. I myself love the chicago style, and my husband liked the Max Well. My kids also ordered onion rings and they are lightly breaded and very very tasty. So all in all I'm up for the Hot Dog Station any time I can't wait to go there again.

Chicago dogs. Let's have a quick chit chat about them. A beef frank, a poppy seed bun, onions, green relish, tomatoes, pickle, sports peppers, celery salt and the ever important mustard. Perfection. The staff was welcoming the greeted me immediately and took my order within 30 seconds of walking in it was great. Place is great and the fries are hot and fresh and great prices too. All in all super clean, bangin' food, friendly staff, welcoming bright location, what more could you ask for? P.s. they were playing some bangin' tunes too!

Let me start this review by clarifying...I am life long Chicagoan who knows a thang or 2,3,4 and for good measure 5 about an Italian beef....I'm talking west side, north side, south side and franchise! I remember when all beefs seemed like foot longs (but maybe I was just younger) and never disappointed.... long gone are those days thus, thought I was destined to only remember the way we were.... In steps this spot....for real, for real the beef was good. I'm talking heavy in my hand, melt in my mouth, full of flavor good. Not as long as the old days but heavy enough that I forced hubby to grab a hold of it as proof! Dipped, cheesed, hot peppered and placed in a plastic bag for cleanliness as we traveled home, was a small clue that they care about me and the food. Will be back to try the dogs (i mean that has to happen first) and hopefully 5 star this fine Chicago establishment :)

I've lived in the area for 3 years and haven't had a chance to eat at Hot Dog Station...until today. First, the food is outstanding!!!! Flame-grilled burgers, super yummy cheese fries. Totally the best hangover food ever! The quality was outstanding, crisp lettuce perfect tomatoes on the burger. The food seriously is incredible!! Next....the owner was so nice! I got there about 20 minutes before closing, and he chatted with me while my food was being cooked (everything was done fresh, fyi). I can't wait to go back!

Great hot dog place. Like classic hot dog place. Clean, friendly. Had the Long Island. Onion rings were perfect. Not too crunchy and the ring didn't come out when you bit into it. Right across from the El. Convenient and close-by. Will visit again.

Doing the basics well is harder than we think. Hot Dog Station is a great little oasis that does justice to the Chicago classics! My beef was flavorful and I like that the giardiniera is a good mix of veggies instead of being mostly peppers like Portillos or all celery like Al's. Keeping a place clean should a basic step but not every place spends enough time maintaining cleanliness. Hot Dog Station was spotless! I don't think they'll be suffering from any of the same issues as Sun Wah (I love them but why do they keep getting shut down?!?) While I was enjoying my food, I realized I couldn't hear all the rif raf outside. I couldn't hear the cars, couldn't hear the Brown line, couldn't hear the school kids walking by. Maybe I temporarily lost my hearing but if I did, I highly doubt I would be listening to La Bamba in my head though it is a catchy tune. Whatever soundproofing they did, if any, was well worth it. This was such a nice surprise! My best friends parents own Albany Office Supply around the corner on Lawrence (check them out!) so it's good to know there's a place like this if we're ever in the area visiting them.

Hot Dog Station was a great restaurant for my girlfriend and I. This is her third time in Chicago, and wanted a Chicago Style Hot Dog, so I brought her here. The server was extremely friendly and helpful, offering to let my girlfriend try their cheese sauce as she decided what to order. She ended up getting a Chicago style hot dog with Cheese Fries, and she really enjoyed it. I got the Italian Beef with Mozzarella, Sweet Peppers, and dipped, and it had great flavor. The only slight negative was the cheese fries were a bit too cheesy at points for my girlfriend, but overall she really enjoyed them. If I could give a 4.5 I would!

Man, after 15 years vegan I've been craving a simple Chicago-style hot dog and never found one that appeased me until now. One day I was running about and my craving was fierce. A quick Yelp search and a bounce and a hop found me at Hot Dog Station. Yup, veggiedog on the menu, didn't even bother with the rest. Do I want a meal? What's that? Fries and a drink, fuck yeah, hook me up. Came out with the quickness and I wolfed that shit down barely managing to take a picture. Small, clean, fast, super polite staff. Yup. Thanks for the "veggie" option!

I ran in here on my way to the train and asked if I could use the bathroom if I bought a drink, and the owner/manager said I could just use it... I didn't have to buy anything. He was super friendly. So friendly that my boyfriend came back the same night to try the place out. It's a cute little place, clean, with a nice diner feel. The food is good diner food... reminds me of Portillo's... If you are looking for taste comparison. But, seriously, the owner is so nice! I like giving my business to places that treat you nice from the minute you walk through the door. I don't live near here, so I'm not sure when I'll be back... but if you do live here, or are taking the Brown Line to Kimball, then definitely give them a go.

I really have to stop drinking! I mean seriously!!! So after a wild night with my favorite people, I felt like death when I woke up. So food and water should cure this nasty hangover that I was experiencing. I stopped at a nasty buffet at first to stuff my face (that review will follow shortly) but that did not do the trick. I decided to run errands after eating at that nasty buffet and when my hunger striked again i remembered this place. I ordred a hotdog with only relish, ketchup, tomatoes, fries and a SIDE OF MAYO! You guys should really try eating mayo with your fries it's better than having sex. My order took less than 5 minutes to come up. Everything was fresh and tasted great. This place is really clean, friendly and fast. They close pretty early and its a shame that not more people visit this little gem.

  • Rosa J.

They have one of the best Italian beef sandwiches I've ever had. In addition, I recommend to add sweet peppers and mozzarella (extra $0.59 on each add-on). The service is consistently friendly. The dude (assuming he's the owner because he's always there) resembles Aiden from Sex and the City (which is not a bad thing)!

  • Ryan A.

The food is very tasty; had the hamburger and my partner had chicken tenders and we split cheese fries. The burger was on the better end of the spectrum of "diner burgers", the chicken tenders were nice and crispy and the cheese fries were regular fries with regular cheese sauce but they do NOT skimp on the cheese and that's the secret to good cheese fries. The decor is fun, old-timey rock and great old posters. Fun, cheap place for a tasty, simple meal.

  • Grisell P.

Their fast food is great! I usually do not eat hot dogs or fast foods but I make the exception when it comes to this place; their foods are always well cooked, non greasy and their fries are fabulous, crispy and with some potato skins, yummy! I love eating here when I pick up my son from Von Steuben, good mommy and son bonding time over a pizza puff and fries.

This is a neighborhood spot for me and I haven't had anything on the menu that isn't delicious. The beef, dogs (Chicago style and the fancier ones), burger, chicken sandwich, all very tasty. On top of the great food the service is fantastic. You walk in and feel like you've been in there a hundred times right from the start. Highly recommend this spot!

After almost 3 years in Chicago I decided to finally try a chicago style hot dogs and since this place was so close and had good reviews I gave it a try. I really have to say it was actually very good I didn't have expectations since I'm not a big fan of hot dogs but this place was absolutely good. One thing that also impressed me the must was their really nice service, manager or supervisor was very helpful and so nice with everyone will show up. On top of the great service u can't bit a place that it look very clean and this place was very organize and clean. Overall great choice to be first time visiting hot dog stand in Chicago.

Having just moved to Albany Park it was essential to find a great hot dog joint. Look no further. Cleanliness and friendliness are the two things you'll notice during and after your amazing food. I recommend the Diablo Dog.

my first visit.......I have to say AWSOME. .. I asked, who I assume to be the owner, how long they have been there. He said 3 years..boy have I been missing out. the burger AWSOME. . the polish AWSOME. ..the fries AWSOME. definitely will be back..Super clean, well put together establishment. and the owner, what a nice guy. Albany Park has one of the best burger in Chicago. From the bun to the fresh cut onions.I would love to be at a BBQ at this guy's house!!!! Ps. I would have posted a picture but my family ate it all !!!

I have been here a few times and am working my way through the menu. The Italian beef is legit. The hot dogs are good and the burger was excellent. Very nice restaurant, clean and convenient location in the heart of Albany Park. And they deliver! Quickly too, my order was at my door 15 minutes after ordering. Great food, great service (really nice people). This is the place to go for hot dogs, burgers, and beef in Albany Park.

Delicious and affordable! I don't live in Chicago anymore, but when I come back in town I always stop here. It's the best. I can't say enough good things about this place. The food is always fast and fresh. The staff is nice and the music is good.

Absolutely love this place. My guy and I stopped in on a whim one day, since it's right down the block from our (semi-)new apartment and we have returned twice since. First thing I noticed was how immaculately clean it is - I'm actually shocked to see it's been open years, not mere months. The owner and the staff are the friendliest guys ever, always professional and accommodating. And then the food. I've had their gyro, chicken sandwich and blt hot dog, and all were great. My fiancé is stuck now on their deep fried hot dog, just smothered in cheese, it's so good. Will be back soon to try more on this creative menu.

Yessss. My never-approve-of-anything father approved of their Italian beef!! Very tasty and good quality. Coulda been a bit more stuffed with meat, but nicely soaked in au jus with the soft and chewy bread. Was really really tasty. Added 59 cents for peppers-- do it! Have had better dawgs in Chi but this place has still got it going on. Tried a small amount of the chicken tortilla soup has a very nice kick to it but also freshly made. They pride themselves on high quality and amazing service. And you can tell! Nice job HDS!!

I took my brother here (first time ever in Chicago from NYS) to experience his first Chicago Dog and italian beef - all at the same time. I do like Al's as a rule, but I wanted to take my brother to a mom and pop type place and I saw the new review that gave Hot Dog Station the #5 berth for Italian beef, plus the great reviews! The place was absolutely spotless. You can tell someone keeps it that way all day long. That makes me feel good about any place I'm about to eat. I had the Italian beef with the hot peppers, and my brother had the mild italian beef as well as a complimentary Chicago dog once the guy at the register heard this was my brother's first experience. DELICIOUS. The beef was good quality, moist, and sliced and spiced perfectly. The au jou was tasty and not at all too salty. The bread was perfect. The fries were also really excellent. Fresh cut and with some peel on them and fried in really hot oil so they are crisp. I'm not quite sure how my brother felt about his fare, but he did keep saying "MPHMYGUDDIZZAMAZING" while stuffing his face. I think this is where I'll be heading for Italian beef from now on, and I might even get around to trying more of what's on the menu because it all looks pretty tasty!

Mann these doggs are soo great!! All the goods. Great price. And really fast service. And it's got the essential 3Cs classic, cozy & clean!! Perfect fries. The owner is a supper nice guy too. I almost wish I didn't like the doggs so much because it's gonna be hard to try anything else on the menue. I guess I could always get a cheese burger with a side of Hotdogg..... Chubbyboy style I can't wait till I have the need to take it to dogg town because I know how to get there. Next stop Hotdogg Station!!

Albany Park is severely lacking in dog and burger joints until now..Go here and spend money, keep this place going because it's worth it.. Not to make comparisons to chains like Portillo's but the Burger here is very similar, but just as good imo. The dogs are awesome, they use Red Hot Chicago, which I prefer over Vienna, yeah I said it. They have specialty dogs too, like the BLT dog and hot dogs w/ spins on them from other cities. The owner is super cool, welcoming and you can tell he really cares about his business. You can tell he cares about the quality of his products because, well, the products are quality when you receive them. Hot Dog Station is extremely consistent, I've never been disappointed.

I truly enjoyed this restaurant!! It was inexpensive,a good atmosphere and the customer service was superb. The restaurant was spotless and decorated great! I also enjoyed the music and it was at good level, not to loud or too low! The manager was very attentive to his customer needs! I loved it... I would definitely return and would recommend it to everyone I know

I have to add a review because the owner of this place is awesome. One day while we were at the laundromat, my fiance went over there to get a few hot dogs. My Fiance got into a conversation with the owner about the "kraut dog" that they had on special. My Fiance is used to those since he's from New Jersey(please forgive him). Long story short, the owner gave my fiance a free hot dog to taste so that the owner could "make it better". My fiance suggested that he use a different brand of mustard(other than the yellow we use, apparently they use spicy brown in NJ/NY), and he actually took the suggestion, and last time we went in, he had the "right" mustard on it - according to my finance. I'm not sure when the last time a place actually asked for an opinion, and actually took it, and applied it. I hope this place stays around.

Hot Dog Station is great! The owner, Dimitri, is really friendly and cares passionately about the restaurant, food, and neighborhood. I don't eat meat, but I still go to Hot Dog Station regularly for the veggie dog meal. Dimitri went to some effort to find a high quality veggie dog to ensure his meat-eating and meatless patrons are satisfied. This place is spotlessly clean and always a pleasure to patronize!

Live next door and rely heavily on this place when I don't feel like cooking. The atmosphere is great. Decorated with transit memorabilia and usually fun lesser known music. The guy behind the register is always friendly. He waves if I walk by the place without stopping. The food is always delicious. I am not a native Chicagoan and I am 100% comfortable taking natives here for a hot dog. Prices are very reasonable. The only problem is that sometimes they run out of random food items.

  • Mark H.

First off let me just say I have a problem spending $ 8 on a hot dog. After all the "fancy" fixings you get on it, it's still a hot dog. C'mon. With that in mind... Hot Dog Station kicks Portillo's and Hot Doug's butt in the overall quality and price test. Their dog selections are amazingly tasty and are only around $ 3. They even have a $ 1 hot dog special during the day. Talk about deal?! I've been there several times cuz it's right off the Brown Line. I even tried their veggie burger. It was awesome. Felt a bit guilty cuz its so good. Fries were solid fresh. The staff was very friendly. I wish they stayed open later though. Great Addison to the Albany Park community. Has a fifties theme going inside. Very clean. Can see this place as a monthly regular. If you're ever in this electric neighborhood def check out this quaint trendy hot dog shop with a kick and w/out the bite in your wallet.

Best Maxwell street style polish on the north side. Simple. No slashin the sausage so it cooks faster. Just pure unadulterated dog poppin in your mouth. With the trinity: yellow mustard, grilled onions and sport peppers. It's like the Voltron of Chicago food. L to the git. Get it. Got it. Good.

Everything we've eaten here has been yummy! Burger, hot dog, chicken sandwich and italian beef were all freshly prepared when ordered. The restaurant is cute, clean and service is great. It's become our neighborhood go to for weekend lunch. A little pricier then I'd like or I would give it 5

Kudos! As a daughter of Chicagoans and Albany Park long time resident, I am happy to announce that a quality and flavorful Italian Beef has been found. If you knew Carms in Hillside and have been grieving with me, then cry no more. The owner took my order and, though I was a carry out, he offered me a seat and some water while I waited. Families, a group of guys, and random people like myself sat enjoying their meals in the cozy and clean space. Once I got home I realized that because I had asked for 'dipped', they placed my sandwich in a small plastic baggie before wrapping it up in foil. This kept da' juice from going everywhere and my sandwich stayed warm. The flavor, good lord the flavor. It's everything you want. I like sweet peppers, my husband likes it with giardiniera. Both sandwiches were perfect in every way. Please keep this place in business. Beef sandwiches are a special treat for me, but if you're stepping off the brown line or live the area and want a great sandwich then stop in. Super friendly and doing a great job of keeping Albany Park delicious.

I just had the best Italian Beef, and at a hot dog joint. Bolstered by the reviews and the proximity to my crib, I sailed over here, parked and ordered up the Italian Beef combo with fries and drink, for about $9.00. This squeaky clean, 50's retro red and white tile self-serve spot also has a nice selection of dogs, chicken sandwiches burgers and a gyro. Very friendly counter guy brings the food to your table, if you are dining in, and offers more peppers. I will just say that the Italian Beef had the most tender and flavorful beef, just enough "au Jus" to complement, and nice, freshly grilled yet still crunchy peppers. Great fries, too. I made love to that sandwich and wanted to smoke a cigarette afterwards (I suppose I could have bummed one at the Kimball Stop across the street.) But I just went home, with that love in my tummy. Yummy, yummy.

Really enjoyed my food at this place. I got chicken tenders and cheese fries. The chicken tenders were fresh and crunchy, the BBQ sauce and honey mustard were both good if not phenomenal (I was sad that they were out of ranch). The cheese fries were awesome - I love me some cheese fries, I get them everywhere I go if they're available. Too often from smaller shops the cheese is that light yellow, sort of plastic - looking and not very flavorful. This place has great cheese sauce that has a lot of flavor and they are very generous with it, which is lovely. it may not be gourmet food but it's simple and tastes good and it's not expensive.

Great place for a quick snack. Last weekend I had a 1/3-lb hamburger. 1/4-lb is too small, 1/2-lb is too big, so 1/3-lb is a perfect size. Today I had a Polish Sausage, and it was just as good. If I had a complaint: too many french fries. I couldn't finish them.

The fine line of quality control and good food here is what the industry standard is made of. The burgers are fresh not greasy, the ingredients are fresh cut all the way down to the jalapenos on the burgers. Their burgers rival any big chain burger joint. The beef combo sandwiches are out standing. This is the hole in the wall that should have crowds lined down the block and around the corner.

Normally I wonder why people make a big deal about Italian beef sandwiches. But I totally get why everyone raves about the Italian beef at Hot Dog Station--it is fabulous! Good fast food at a reasonable price. The people are friendly.

Man do I procrastinate. I've seriously been wanting to try Hot Dog Station since they opened and I found out they carry veggie dogs and burger. Fast forward to one year later. I was at the Post Office on Lawrence and Bernard mailing my cousin's wedding gift that was 2 months late (procrastination at it's worst). I realized, hey, if I cut down the alley next to the post office, I'll be right at the front door to HDS! Score! And that's exactly what I did. Charming! Cute! Friendly! Honestly, I wasn't expecting this. It has a cute 50s theme with retro Chicago memorabilia on the walls. I went up to the counter to order the meal deal - Veggie dog Chicago style, fries, diet coke. Total was like $6.50. I think it's less without the "veggie" dog though. I recently had a meatless dog at another hot dog place in Lincoln Square, and was not pleased. This one was great! They do a real Chicago style, with the fixin's oozing out. My kind of dog. The fries were perfectly crispy - which means while they were really bad for me, they tasted deliciously awesome - just the right amount of salt too. My only complaint is they serve the soft drinks in styrofoam cups. I wish they'd ditch these, they're terrible on the environment. Hot Dog Station will easily enter into my lunch rotation, and I won't make the mistake of procrastinating on returning!

I love this place. The menu is pretty basic, but the dogs and fries are good. The chili is fantastic. The space is clean and bright, unlike many of the little hot dog places you find in the city. There are some cool, historic local signs on the walls, but they're also surrounded by some kitschy novelty stuff, and there may be 1950's pop rock playing when you go in. (That's why I give it four stars rather than five.) The staff are nice, the food is served promptly, and prices are reasonable. Aside from the environment being a smidge cheesy, I really can't complain about anything. Definitely worth a visit. No, wait, nevermind, don't go. It stinks. Stay away. I don't want this place to become crowded!

Okay, this place is an Albany Park gem. It's so unassuming and I am so glad my boyfriend and I stopped here last night because we were hella starving and got a double cheeseburger, chicken sandwich, fries, chi got dog and two waters for $20. I can't tell you how hard it is for me to find a decent Chicago hot dog but this place delivers. The owner and his employees obviously care a lot about their food and their customers because he came over and asked us how how good was, even struck up a friendly conversation. I felt like I was so taken care of. He also gave us some cool old photos of trains. Sometimes the CTA guys come over to the restaurant and drop off old pictures of trains and the owner was kind enough to give some to us for free. I can tell he really really cares about his business. I will definitely come again.

This place rocks! By far the best new place in Albany Park. I came here for dinner on the way home from work ordered a hamburger meal came with fries and a drink(NO PEPSI ONLY COCA COLA).The burger was out of the world, and so were the fries. The burger was premium quality.I also ordered a huge Maxwell Street Polish with mustard, onions, and sport peppers. The polish was charred perfectly, that would put the other places to shame. The poppyseed bun was perfectly steamed .This place was perfect in every way.The staff was super friendly and very clean. The decor inside was super cool and retro. The music they played completed my experience here.Look out Portillos ,this place is gaining on you. Enjoy!!!!!!

Good hot dogs and very good fries. This place is clean and bright with a retro design. It's a welcome addition to Albany Park! We will be back to try other menu items - they offer Italian beef, chicken sandwiches, burgers, etc.

Once upon a time, I used to be a rather rambunctious bad kid. Like, I chased a boy up onto to roof the school. As far as I was concerned- this was justifiable defense. Never mind the school (run by nuns) had to call attorneys and the fire department... my parents threw their hands up in frustration and called in my Granddad. My Grandad (Texas cowboy, ex-WWII vet) was supposed to punish me. What happened (bad kid) routinely was, I'd climb into his truck, he'd drive aimlessly and we'd listen to Roy Orbison... Sometimes we'd get burgers and fries (he was not supposed to have this but lived into his 80s, so there), he'd flirt by tall-telling the waitresses my latest exploits with southern drawled pride- It was the best. So imagine my joy when walking in one dreary late afternoon here, Roy Orbison was playing. The smiling nice fella behind the counter congratulating a kid in baseball uniform. I got tasty food and free refills on my diet soda. Granddaddy would have loved it. Now you can get a $1 hot dog but may I please suggest there is a chicken sandwich that will curl your toes! Order fries- they are the hand cut, fresh, skin crispy on the end sort. Stay there- listen to Roy Orbison, followed by Buddy Holly then Little Richard and enjoy your food. It isn't expensive, the service is fast and friendly, the floor is a classic diner checkerboard and no one has to call the fire department to haul the class bully from the roof. I'll be a regular, even when being good.

This place is absolutely perfect for Italian Beef sandwiches, sausages, hot dogs and fries. The food is incredible and service with a smile. Please do yourself a favor if you're wavering on going here and just do it. You'll never stop coming back!

Albany Park's newest hot dog restaurant, Hot Dog Station is located directly across the street from the Kimball CTA Brown Line station. Walking in, it is classic red with neon signs and big menu that's easy to read. On the menu you'll find dogs from all over the country, led by the almighty Chicago style hot dog with all of the fixin's. If you're looking for some burgers, chicken sandwiches, or Italian Beef, you can easily grab some of those too. Sides on the menu include fries, cheese fries, and onion rings. Overall I had two good hot dogs with natural casing evidenced by the snap on the dog as I bit into it. The large order of fries did not seem very large to me but they were crispy and salty but could have used a little bit more cooking since I like my fries CRISP! The hot dog was proper, served on a poppy seed hot dog bun with celery salt, chili pepper, onions, relish, spear pickle, tomato, mustard and NO KETCHUP. For $9.72 I got two hot dogs, large fries and a large drink. If they add a combo special it would make the price right, but the food is good and they serve fast. I will have to come back to test the burger and the BEEF.

I'm never disappointed when I order from here. The San Fran is my fav! Great friendly service, fresh ingredients (even the breakfast is delicious), super clean, and right out my front door. What could be better?

Super cute place! Nice little throw back to the 50s! The owner is extremely nice and the food is amazing. The customer service is outstanding; the owner serves you your meal himself and away makes sure you are enjoying it. This place is oozing with nostalgia from the decor, to the music. If your want a great burger, fun music, and a great dining experience, come here! You'll love it!

Awesome spot. My son and I have been here many times and have never had a bad experience. The hot dogs are all great, especially the chile/cheese. The fries are always hot and not over seasoned. However what keeps me coming back is the service. Always very attentive and polite. I dig polite.

My husband and I have gone here multiple times. Each time is always enjoyable. The staff is always nice. The place is always clean. My husband loves their double burger. I love the Big Easy, Chili Cheese Dog and I've had others I liked. The fries are amazing. The food is freshly made. We live a 10 minute walk away from here, and when we get home the food is always warm.

This is THE BEST place in chicago! Hot dogs were perfect n the service was more than I expected. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to everyone. Good food, fair prices, great environment!

One of my pet peeves when when it comes to hot dogs, specifically in Chicago, is that a Chicago-style dog should be constructed neatly. And no skimping on the ingredients, like too thin of tomato slices. God forbid leaving a key ingredient out! Well the Hot Dog Station puts together the perfectly put together dog!! And their fries are delicious! I came all the way up from Bucktown for one of their Chicago Dogs. Well worth the trip!

Decent Beef, a little small. Good fries. May have been hoping for more based on Thrillist top 10. Rating may have been higher but my giardiniera was left off the sandwich. It was on the receipt so I know I ordered it correctly.

I really like this place a lot. They are a few bucks for any style of hot dog you want. My favorite is the deep fried with onions and cheese (I can't remember the name) but it's so so good. The onion rings are good and the fries are amazing! The service is fantastic, the owner is constantly there making sure everything is good. Check them out, I don't want to lose this place!

Hot Dog Station is my new "go-to", "default" neighborhood hotdog shop, the place I will refer friends to and bring out of town guests. I refrain from a rating of 5 stars as I've only visited once, but my experience was top shelf! Driving by, I found easy parking, so went in for a late lunch. The restaurant is bright and clean, with lots of interesting CTA and bygone era restaurant decor to gaze at while waiting for your order. Service was fast, courteous and attentive to my questions and tastes. I ordered the Chicago Style meal (fries & soda for add'l $2.50) to go. The fries were skin-on (hand cut? I dunno) and arrived to me HOT and crispy, perfectly cooked. The hotdog was the same, a presentation that made me say "OMG" in a world where many "Chicago Style" dog details are neglected. A Chicago Red Hot bun length wiener in a poppyseed bun, green relish, onions, tomato, pickle spear, sport peppers, mustard and celery salt smartly assembled, generous but not sloppy. Normally, I seek out a double hotdog meal "deal" but in this instance it was not necessary. I ate and returned to thank the cooks for such an exceptional hotdog & fries. Where many neighborhood hotdog stands often let details slide and are comfortable with a "gently-to-well loved" appearance, Hot Dog Station rises above. I pray they hold fast to there current level of quality because I can hardly wait to return to try the other menu items, but those idyllic fries... Go, now.

So glad this place popped up! I ordered the Chili Dog with a side of Onion Rings. Chili dog was perfect... super velvety steamed bun, chili was thick and tasty, and the dog on the inside was definitely quality. Bun was the best though. If you make the bun that good, I'll keep ordering Dogs. Onion rings were lightly battered and very tasty. I asked, and they confirmed they fry with vegetable oil, so I can feel a little less guilty. Aside from the food, the place is immaculately kept and has some really fun stuff on the walls etc. If only they were open past 9pm... I can see myself drunkenly wishing they were open after bartime some night. haha

  • Dennis C.

Hot dogs were quite good and tasty as were the onion rings. At another visit I was charged for BOTH sweet and hot peppers on an Italian beef. Usually peppers (either sweet or hot) are included at so many other places and if you want a second type of pepper you pay or some places give you a half-and-half sweet/hot combo for no charge. Guy behind the counter seems friendly and eager to please. I SURE WISH THIS PLACE WAS OPEN TIL 10 OR 11PM.

This place is pretty awesome and the location is super convenient, as it is literally across the street from the Kimball brown line station. I have been here twice now and both times my burgers (and fries) have been excellent. Another plus? Super friendly employees. The sweet woman who took my order on my first visit could not have been any nicer. She even offer my boyfriend and I some water while we waited for our to-go order. The first time I got the bacon cheeseburger, which was a good size and had plenty of bacon on it. The second time I tried the double cheeseburger since I was feeling ravenous. That was a bit of a mistake since it was MASSIVE. I was barely able to eat it all, so beware that the double is ridiculous. The fries both times were good...hot, crispy, of the french variety. On the second visit I ended up getting a coke and it tasted a bit funny, but that just might have been me and the fact that I'm not much of a soda drinker. All in all, definitely a place I'd go back to.

Finally decided to roll in and try this place tonight with the family. It was a nice place to walk into, clean, well lit, nice decore and friendly service. They had a great menu, tho I agree with the reviewer above who suggested adding milk shakes, that would be great. I personally would recommend adding a more craft style root beer in place of Barqs, but I'm a root beer snob. I had the MoTown and the Maxwell St Polish. The polish was exactly what you would expect, no surprises there, very tasty. The MoTown was a new experiance for me, but a very good one. Next on the list for me to try is the Diablo. Definatly coming back here again, it's a great addition to the strip of good food joints along Kimball here. May want to consider extending the hours past 9 tho.

Just carried out a cheeseburger for Hot Dog Station. It was yummy even after my 15 minute walk home. The place was clean, the service helpful and I look forward to going back. My only complaint was the volume of the Doo Wop music they play. It was too loud. Even if you are a fan of the genre - it's too loud. See you soon Hot Dog Station. Can't wait to try the chili!

I"m THRILLED that this place has vegan burgers and vegan hot dogs! It's a cute and very clean place to eat. My veggie dog was really good, much better than a few other local joints (and bonus this place is way closer to us). It's kind of a random location and I hope they survive there, but definitely check it out. Service was fast and friendly and the decor is cute. My only suggestion would be for them to add a healthy side option...some type of veggie or side salad would be lovely!

I would give this place 4.5 stars if I could but I need a few more visits before I can give it a 5. The price is pretty reasonable for what you want and in combination with the quality and taste make it a great value. I've only tried the mo-town and diablo. Tasty dogs with the trimmings and awesome bun. I only wish the diablo was a bit spicier. I have seen reviews where they say it is super spicy but I barely felt it. If the owner is reading this, use those seeds! The seeds hold the spice. White Castle's jalapeno cheese has that kick I'm looking for in their diablo. Location is not out in the open. I would not have seen the place if it wasn't for a slighty obnoxious promoter with a whistle. Inside has a great vibe and nice theme with the decor and music. Friendly service overall and great staff. Clean food and place is also worth mentioning. I wish they had later hours. That would definitely rake in customers who seek late night goodness. One great find in Albany Park. I would definitely recommend you go here! EDIT Great burger, great size and flavor. The bun, the veggies and just everything are top quality.

Yes it's a hot dog joint, but for what they do they do it all extremely well, right down to the doo-wop soundtrack. Nicely-decororated and clean little space, super-friendly service and great hot dogs. I don't normally care much about fries but theirs are particularly good. Went there with a friend and didn't know that from 3 to 6 pm you can get a hot dog for $1 if you buy fries or a drink. So for a little over five bucks we got 3 hot dogs and an order of fries. Saw some great looking burgers coming out and will try one of those next time. Lots of parking outside.

Best fries- perfect thickness, consistency, and CRUNCH. Had myself a Maxwell Street Polish- with the works! My tummy was singing all the way home! I can't wait to go back to try their other variety of dogs! I'm looking forward to trying their Frisco and their chilli.

So I wanted to give them more stars based on my first two trips, but my third trip downgrades the star. THE GOOD: Very polite, and professional staff. The young latin kid who is at the register is always very good. I had a Chi dog, asked for it grilled and it was a perfectly good Chicago Dog. Second time I went, I got a Maxwell Polish and that too was decent. I like that its ALL BEEF here, coz that usually means Better quality. THE BAD: The third time i went, the consistency went really down. I ordered a couple of Chicago Dogs and one San Fran for my wife. Took the order home to find that there was hardly any mustard, one very pathetic Pickle spear per HotDog. No Celery Salt on the Chi Dog, and the meat looked very small. Needless to say my wife was unimpressed, especially after I had been raving about the place. Consistency is the key to repeat customers. One bad experience makes you not want to go back. I live in the neighborhood and pass by everyday....several times a day. Hopefully they can sort out the consistency issue because I really want them to succeed.

Finally had an opportunity to try out this new addition to our neighbourhood on our way home this evening. First off I love the decor, they've clearly put some time and money into the design and it looks great. I especially love the local flavour, not just Chicago but Albany Park/Ravenswood area pictures lining the walls. The menu is well thought out too, and we had trouble deciding which dogs to try because they all sounded so good. In the end I went for a classic Chicago Style and a Big Easy while my husband went to the opposite end of the list and tried the Motown and Maxwell Street Polish. We agreed that we made good choices but are looking forward to go back soon and trying some of the other dogs. My only concern in their ability to maintain business is that they currently close at 9pm and this seems like a perfect stop off for the late night crowd on their way home from the bar. Perhaps if they get enough business around their 9pm closing time they'll consider later hours?

I'd actually give this 4.5 stars, but Hot Dog Station earns an extra half-star for providing Albany Park a really nice place to get encased meats and beef products. On a soggy Saturday, my wife, my niece and I went there for dinner tonight and really liked it. My wife had a polish, my niece had a bacon cheeseburger and I had a double cheeseburger. They split cheese fries and I had regular fries. Everyone was happy. The food was fresh -- the polish looked great, and my burger was terrific, not too far away from Portillo's in quality. The fries were also terrific. As others have mentioned, the service is good and the place is clean. My only tip for the owners would be to add shakes, since it would be a natural with the rest of the line up.

  • Lindsay M.

This place is the greatest! The food is always amazingly fresh. The bacon burger is heavenly, as are the Chicago dogs. The customer service is always spot on. It's so nice to have a small, independent business in our neighborhood, especially since the food is ridiculously good.

I won't say it's awesome YET. There is potential. My first thing is the place is clean. Either a woman is helping run the show or they have an amazing cleaning crew. It was an old Mexican place that was very run down. The new owners really changed it up and the look is great. Classy red and white with black diner feel, but clean and modern at the same time. I've been twice. First time; Italian Beef. Now, this is Chicago. Portillo's has the best Italian Beef and sets the bar high. I like Beef 'N Cheddar and that's what I ordered. I'm not a fan of the squirty cheese in a bottle. The beef was dry, thick and bland. Can't say I loved it. Second time, I got a hot dog and a breaded chicken sandwich. The hot dog was great, perfect snap to the dog on a good quality bun. All fresh ingredients. The chicken sandwich was awesome. I have no idea why. For all you know it's some frozen patty they deep fry.. but it was just so good. It didn't taste like a fast food chicken sandwich. The prices are right and the food is awesome. I hope now Huddle House next door closes. :D Welcome to the 'hood Hot Dog Station.. I hope you are around a long time. Fix that beef so I can up you one more star. Update 7/24 There are over 6000 places to eat in the city and I find myself visiting this little station weekly. The food is good.. and the owners are amazing. It's a rare find to find a place that still offers customer service. Also, I noticed tonight they keep the kitchen open. You can see them cooking and preparing your food. That says a lot to a customer.

The bread of their combo Italian Beef/Sausage sandwich is very reminiscent of those amazingly delicious fresh baked French baguettes that they churn out daily at Harvestime. I'm not saying it's the same. I didn't ask. And, I don't think they'd tell me. But I think it is the same. At least, my taste buds happily tell me so. They must have read a prior Yelp review because I found my beef very flavorful. Glad I got the hot peppers on the side, because the sandwich was pretty spicy as is. I could handle it. But, your mileage may vary. I can't comment on it being dry. I requested juice on the side, even going as far as requesting they pour the same quantity into a larger liquid to-go container, instead of those puny plastic cups they keep the peppers in. I like to dip it. So my sandwich was quite juicy and succulent. The restaurant area was clean, busy (yes!) and staffed with very friendly and efficient people. The counter girl was very accommodating and had a positive "the customer is always right" attitude when I asked for a larger cup for the au jus. I'll definitely be back to try their dogs and chili. I just don't get the early-bird closing time. It would seem like common sense to stay open late, due to their next door proximity to a bar that does not serve food. Why on earth would they close so early? Taco Chino is open till 11pm. Makki Grill is open till 11pm. La Fogata is open till 11pm. Golden Crust is open till 1am. After 9pm all these places are taking potential Hot Dog Station customers. As it's a new business, I would recommend staying open late for the first few months, keeping a record of the ticket times, finding the averages for when orders are placed the most, and then re-adjusting the store hours to reflect against their peak business times. Otherwise, it's self sabotage. It's sort of why Coffee Berry didn't make it in the neighborhood. They were a coffee shop that was open after 8am most days. Except, it takes about 45 minutes to ride the train to the loop from the Kimball stop. Which makes it impossible to stop at Coffee Berry for morning coffee because there'd be no way to get to work on time and have coffee. Had they been open consistently at 6am M-F, they'd brought in a lot more business, imo.
