I am so sad to discover this place is gone today. I loved the food and the people working there. It will be missed a lot.

Being our first stop this was the perfect lunch. The special with two Chicago hotdogs and fries was perfect. I could taste all the ingredients and it wasn't overwhelming. The fries were also really good! Everything was so fresh and hot! I def recommend this place! The feel of the inside definitely honors Chicago and keeps the city the core of its restaurant!

The feel of this place inside is of a typical small, hot dog stand. Given their name is Hot Diggity Dogs, I never expected to like the burgers as much as I do. I assumed they might be an after thought to the dogs. Boy was I wrong! These burgers are special. They are always charred and tasty. Although cooked on an indoor griddle, they taste as if flame grilled. Nom! Surprisingly enough, the hot dogs are average to good. No complaints, but not particularly memorable. Service is very friendly. Just hope you don't come in during a big rush, because they don't have a lot of manpower. Their french fries are inconsistently good to average to below average. Depends on how busy they are and who is cooking. But their burgers and polish? Oh lordy are they tasty. Fries can be good or garbage, depending on the cook. I like fries extra crispy, low on salt. They have at least one cook who can turn out a fantastic batch of crispy fries, but clearly he's not always manning the fryer. After a few attempts, I have given up on the fries. I think the main issue is that I don't eat in. Perhaps if I ever dine in, I will try the fries again. It's just annoying that ONCE I brought home a really good batch of perfectly crisp fries that never went soggy on me. Ahhh, memories... Cheesecake slices are mostly good, but they make some odd flavors --like grape soda frosting. Wut? I enjoyed a banana variety, but it was tiny for $3.50. I don't come here to get a good deal nor to feed myself particularly well. Their prices feel a bit high for this type of joint. But when it comes to the burgers and the polish, it's money well spent. I found out they source their burger patties, chicken breasts and polish sausage from Joseph's Finest Meats (located at 7101 W Addison). I didn't learn this until I'd had quite a few burgers and when I was told, it made so much sense!

Chicago's blue collar culinary scene is built on the backs of places like this. They are both necessary and awesome. I grew up on the north side so the Vienna hot dog sign embellished hot dog stand is a beacon in the storm when I'm looking for something greasy but delicious to eat. Hot Diggity Dogs fills this niche slot perfectly, as it should. Hot dogs, Italian beefs, fries, chicken sangwiches (never bothered asking why they spell it that way), assorted fried sides, and soda. You go, you get something, you eat, you leave, you burp, you smile. This is the circle of life. Everything I've gotten here has been great. Nothing ever amiss. The one menu item of note are their ghetto fries. Fries with cheese, giardiniera, gravy, sour cream, and bacon. I get them without sour cream but otherwise these things are spicy as hell but totally worth the potential heartburn and/or shortened lifespan. Get some, you'll thank me. Hot Diggity Dogs is exactly what it's supposed to be and I love it for that.

Speaking of prime locations, "Hot Diggity Dogs" is right around the corner by the CTA Wellington Brown/Purple Line station. You can't possibly miss that place. Once again, our plan A for going to "Big & Little's" failed due to a huge line extending outside the entrance. Hubby and I had no patience tonight, so we developed the plan B immediately. It's a tiny place, but the emphasis of Chicago theme makes this place extra cozy and inviting. The young man who took care of us kindly provided the direction where the menu was located (apparently I was incapable of finding the menu, which was right behind me). We had the Italian Beef Sandwich and the vegetarian black bean cheeseburger combos. The menu items are slightly pricer than what I've seen at most of the hotdog joints in other neighborhoods. Well, I must say location, location, and location. I can see the point of charging more for the awesome real estate and convenience. The reason why I couldn't render five (5) stars was due to the taste of Italian beef sandwich. It was good, but it was missing so called the "identification spice." What exactly did that mean? In my opinion, well-marinated Italian beef would have a special aroma that I often look for, assuming it came from basil or other secret ingredients that each hotdog place has its unique take-on. I guess it just didn't do it to me. On the other hand, hubby was very appreciative that he was able to find vegetarian and vegan items on the menu. He liked the vegetarian black bean cheeseburger. It was satisfying for him. The fries were certainly made-to-order. The fries were excellent and the portions were generous. We were happily full upon finishing our meals. We also enjoyed some people-watching. There was a group of eight (8) people who asked to use the restroom, lingered, loitered, and then left without patronizing the business. Really, people? What would you think that you were entitled to use someone else's facility without any contribution? What a douche-bag move those kids pulled! Anyways, I wanted to give the young men and the young lady at Hot Diggity Dogs a shout-out for being very friendly and attentive to us. We will be back soon.

Got the burger and fries.. Work right by this place so I had to check it out. Defiantly recommend this place for their burgers it's a small place but simple and clean. Service was great too. The owner gave us a bunch of dessert samples too which was all very good! Coworkers tell me the chili fries are great and the hotdogs are good as well. Prices are low, staff is friendly and place is super clean. Keep up the great work guys! Update.. Got the chili fries and Italian beef and a piece of cake.. I think I might be addicted to this place everything was soooo damn good!l

You know you eat here more than you should when the guys know exactly what you want as soon as you enter the door. This place is great and is my total go to place at night on my way home. So conveniently located right off the brown line and right on my way to my apartment, it's dangerous. The food is good and decently priced and the guys who work there are always so friendly. I usually just get a plain double cheeseburger meal, but it's still just as scrumptious. They're fries are delightful and perfect. Everything is made to order so it is a bit of wait, not too long, but it is so incredibly worth it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

A friend of mine and I went to this restaurant after reading some reviews and thinking about options in the area. The reviews were really high for some and then seemed pretty low for a few, so there was some question of whether we wanted to choose a different restaurant, but we decided to give it a try. SO HAPPY WE DID. First of all, the lady behind the counter was extremely nice. The service was quick (for those who don't have long lunch breaks, and the food was excellent. I got the cheese hotdog with fries meal and thoroughly enjoyed it. My friend got the beef sandwich and I'm not kidding, she's 140lbs soaking wet and she wolfed the thing down loving every bite. Both of us were extremely happy with the food and the fries are (as everyone continues to say, quite delicious. So, you might ask why only four (4) stars. Unfortunately I do think the sitting area for customers needs a little more attention. It was a busy place and after one person got up, another person had to just sit down without the tables being cleaned. None of the staff ever came out (during our meal) to clean the tables. So, I think that the cleaning of the eating area needs to be a higher concern, but that really is my only complaint. Otherwise, 100% think everyone should head in to this place. It really is a great hot dog and fries!

A friend & I stopped in for a quick bite while visiting a friend in the hospital across the street. First thing I noticed was how clean the place was, most small hot dog joints are known for their food & not cleanliness. The corn dog I ordered tasted a little soggy like too much oil soaked into it but the cheese fries were on point. This is a decent little spot to grab something that's made to order with friendly service. I'd stop in again if I'm in the area

I eat here more often than I would like to admit, but it's so conveniently located to my apartment and so good. They do what they do really well. I'm a fan of their Chicago dog and fries but everything I've had has been solid. Great homemade desserts, too. Consistent, fresh, friendly owner and staff. I highly recommend it.

The fresh cut french fries are absolutely amazing!!!!!!!! I just happened to walk by and saw the sign for the fries. The service is friendly attentive and wonderful.

Mary and the cook were amazing. Very gracious portions and delicious combo. The beef is home-made, nicely seasoned and very tender. Make sure you get it dipped. I got the combo and the sausage is bought from a butcher and never frozen. Super tasty sandwiches. Hot pepper and sweet peppers both vey tasty. This beef can compete with some of Chicago's finest.

The food and service at this place are nothing short of fantastic. This is the kind of place where you order a hot dog and fries and when you get home you realize bag is just fulled with fries pilled on top of your wrapped dog. I've had the burger, hot dog, and black bean burger here and they've all been great. The owner is in this place a lot and you can tell he cares not only about the quality of the food, but your experience. Oh and I forgot to mention that all the deserts are homemade and fantastic. Open late, good sober or drunk.

I remember Hot Diggity Dogs when it was located on the corner of Ohio and Fairbanks. I was disappointed when the "go to hot dog stand" closed. One day review some Yelp reviews, I noticed the "go to hot dog stand" had relocated to Lakeview. Great! I decided to walk to the restaurant plus it next to the EL on Wellington Avenue. Great location. I walked into the restaurant - much bigger than the previous location. The restaurant has large windows to allow the sunshine in. There were about six small tables and an eating counter against the window. The place was not really busy during the lunch period. I proceeded to the ordering station. The young lady was having register issues so ordering taking was okay. She was a little short with me and the few customers trying to order. I went of an available table. I moved shortly since every time the door opened, a gust of wind also came in with the customer. I'm sure that is brutal during the winter months. My meal, chicken sandwich with cheese, fries and a drink was delivered to me. The meal was okay - nothing memorable until later. Shortly after I left, I wish I had some mints with me. I had such a horrible taste/film in my mouth. Great location. Food okay. I'm not in a rush to return, however, I would return to give another try...... someday.

Great friendly service, fantastic Chicago dogs and Maxwell style Polish sausage. Also the BEST fresh cut fries I have had in Chicago. My first time there, I could not have had a better experience, getting hungry thinking about it again! Keep up the good work!!!

Ummm.... their French fries are off the chain. Even if you don't want to eat a burger or hot dog, just order the fries. Speaking of which, I've only gotten the burgers here, and I recommend them. I have yet to try a hot dog. My review is a short one. Very convenient location. Open late on the weekends. Delicious and cheap food. Good service. Tasty-ass fries.

The fries are simply the best around. Italian beef is top notch and portions are big. Right off Wellington Brownline, great before or after a night out da town.

My favorite has to be THE BELT-BUSTER.....you just have to try one. All of the cheesecakes are homemade and fresh, and come in a wide variety of flavors.

Located right under the Wellington EL stop, this is what Chicago hot dog stands are about. I've stopped by during my commute a few times (the hot dog aroma is hard to resist), and the hot dogs are fantastic. The dogs are prepared in the Chicago style, and the hot dog itself is one of the tastiest I've ever encountered. This last visit I was really impressed with the fries. I'm not sure what they are frying those bad boys in, but they were perfectly crisp and delicious. The reason I'm opting for a 4 and not a 5 is due to the price. I paid a little under $5 for a hot dog and small fries. Granted, they gave me more fries than what I would consider "small," but it's still a little pricey. All in all, my favorite hot dog stand in the area (better than Clark Street dogs and maybe even the Weiner Circle).

Italian Beef and fries just okay. Better places to get fast food. Service was just okay and place smelled like a restroom!

July 2013 it was one of those odd ball cold days we where having that year. I decided I needed a hot dog to warm up. Went over to Murphy's Dogs on Belmont thought I was in a sardine can instead of a hot dog joint people where packed in there so tight. Said to my Partner( AKA Wife) Lets try that Hot Diggity Dog under the El on Wellington. She says ok. We drive over and park with our blinkers on no one thought it was odd we go in. Place looks clean. 2 people in line. Food smells good and a few open tables to sit at seems ok. I read the menu don't see a char dog ask the girl at the counter do you have char dogs she says yes I say ok give me a char dog hold the sport peppers and a double char dog meal with everything. She says that will be $10.31. I pay the girl and sit down. 4 minutes later some guy yells single and a double char dog meal. I know that's me he's calling. I grab the food and start to eat. Dogs have a nice char fries are crispy self serve on the drink with free refills. My partner steals most of my fries after saying she would only eat a few. Then she tries and eats some of my double dog I say Just the fries ma'am just the fries. She backs off we got everything we needed here and head back to our vehicle.Solid place good food good service we will be back. The review you read was true. The names where changed to protect the yelper. On a later date the yelper returned to the scene of the eating and ate again.

Only tried the Polish dog, but it was totally worth getting. Great flavor and super juicy (as sausages should be). Fries were nice and tasty. Solid spot for a late night bite after the bars.

One of the best Italian Beef sandwiches I've ever had! Very friendly guys. Had some great sports conversation.. Just enough hot. Not too much. The bread was PERFECT!

This place is a hidden gem. Well not so hidden because it's right next to the Wellington brown stop, but it's a local neighborhood joint. My friend and I came here for a late lunch I got the Chicago hot dog with fries and a single cheeseburger. The cheeseburger is straightforward and nothing fancy. You can request to remove anything you want (pickles in my case). Everything was tasty and fresh and those fries can be addicting. This place is cheap and convenient. I plan to come back here for my once in awhile fast food fix.

  • Rebekah H.

This place is a true gem, came back again and was once again impressed by the quality of the food and service we received and yet again it was impeccably clean. The fries here are positively addictive but I am a french fry fiend so I may be a bit biased! :-) One negative is that they have no menus that you can take with you, I find that odd and counterproductive. If I have your menu at home or in my car, it makes it so easy to call in an order and pick it up and keeps the restaurant on my mind. It is such a simple thing and so easy to do!

  • Kristin M.

Open late, serving up Chicago-style hot dogs (and other stuff, like Everything Fries), this spot's a helluva night-ender. The dogs have been dragged through the garden, as I've learned they say here, and are covered with relish, mustard, and a long slice of pickle, and while the dog itself is nothing special, the whole package definitely is. Just $6 for the meal, including the dog, fries and a drink, is a steal.

I wish I had not tried this place. I have walked past it many times, but never gone in. Because of Groupon I stopped in for lunch today. Now every time I walk past here I am going to crave their fries and desserts. Thanks a lot Groupon and Hot Diggity Dogs! I have to walk past twice a day!!! I had a $5 Groupon here, I got the hot dog and fries for $3.25, and added a piece of homemade chocolate cake for $2.50. So I paid an extra $.50 over my groupon. The hot dog was great, the fries were incredible, and the chocolate cake was amazing. Too bad I'm in a major food coma now from eating all of that!

  • Anne L.

French fries were great....hotdogs so so. My husband got a regular hotdog and he said it was alright, expected more relish. I had the chili cheese dog and it was okay. Service was fast and they were extremely friendly. Cheesecake samples we had were phenomenal (strawberry and chocolate chip). Would definitely go back.

Great late night spot. Joe the owner is the best and his line cooks work their tails off. Highly recommended.

Place is pretty dingy lookin. We went here for lunch during the Pride Parade, it was pretty busy but we still snagged a seat. I had the italian beef which was SOGGY. Fries were good and the root beer float was alright even though I had to fill the cup up myself with soda and it took like 15 minutes for them to finish making it. Not really sure if I'll be back, I think there are better places to grab a hot dog and fries in the neighborhood.

That was the best grilled cheese I have ever eaten. Employees are all very friendly. I don't eat meat, but I'm still a fan, and it's a great location, right on my way to work.

This place makes a pretty darn good polish and the fries are mushy on the inside and crispy on the outside. They have Pepsi on tap, but they won't lose points over that. (Coke would be better!) I tried some of their plain cheesecake and it was to die for (much better than their neighbor's Pompeii. I have my little frequent hot dog card with my little hole punches awaiting the day that I'll come in for my free meal. Nice little incentive to keep customers going back.

Any storefront painted in yellow catches your eye...and much more so than the shack they have relocated from off Ohio Street in Streeterville! The aroma of a Vienna beef hotdog is bound to grab your grumbling stomach's and nose's attention. Oh and for me the name takes me back to my childhood suburban hometown of Gurnee where we had a Hot Diggity Dog across from Six Flags Great America. No it ain't the popular Illinois Portillos chain, but I dare to claim that they are just as good, if not better! HDD has the classic Chicago style hot dog down pat with all the works---or as they say, the wiener is 'dragged through the garden.' They put each and every goodies atop the dog in it's poppy-seed bun: green-dyed sweet pickle relish, mustard, diced onion, dill pickle spear, tomato wedges, pickled sports peppers, celery salt = THE WHOLE PACKAGE! Many Chicagoans want to kill me when I add ketchup to mine dog but if you do too, I'll back you up any day! While it's ever so greasy (especially accompanied by their drenched brown bag french fries wrapped up with the wiener), it's well worth the stomach ache and a Chicago must-eat. Cash only! *Note to 4Square application and Explore Chicago: This is a true "celery salt badge"-worthy business. (Not sure what I'm talking about? See: explorechicago.org/city/… )

Hot Diggity Damn, it's finally open!! I've been lurking around and waiting for this place to open, and today was my lucky day. I got a basic Hot Diggity Dog (mustard, relish, onions, sport pepper) and it was pretty good, for 3 bucks a scoop of fries are also included (they're wrapped up with the dog). My fellow diner agreed that the portion was the perfect size for someone who isn't super hungry. So if you insist that you're starving, you might want to order two. For now it's cash only, but I'm pretty sure I saw a sign that said they would be able to accept cards soon?? (I hope so, because I never carry cash.) Flub a Dub Chub's might actually have a little competition in the neighborhood, cue up some ominous tones!! I will happily volunteer myself for any hot dog taste offs that may come to pass!

This morning was a quick and dirty stop. We were at Illinois Masonic for family matters and had a chance to get a quick bite to eat. Funny, my mom told me about this place and I came with her and my cousins. It was 10:00am Chicago time, but I am still on Florida time and had to eat lunch. So, I had a hot dog for breakfast. Bright little place. Right under the Wellington stop of the Brown Line. The place smells great when you walk in. The stools give this place a nice touch. All the sports memorabilia takes me back to my childhood. Now, lets talk COMIDA!!! Chicago Hot Dog with French Fries. Oh man!!! It had been at least three years since tasting a Chicago hot dog. Last time was with my friend Rob Russo. When I came to Chi with my family. My family was saying the owner is super nice. I didn't get a chance to meet him. They also said the place has been here for over 5 years. Great place. Come and check it out.

Stopped in late night and got a Pizza Puff, Grilled Cheese, PHAT Fries, and dessert. I had a nice chat with the owner and was very impressed with the care for the business. I was told all the meat comes from a local butcher. The food was all better than expected, and an excellent value for the price... we didn't even come close to finishing everything for only $12 between two people. Looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu.

We love this place, especially how close it is to us and the train. This is well-done fast food, with great fries and sausage and burgers and a nice staff. But the most special thing is the cheesecake made by I believe the owner's sister. I came in one night holding a Cheesecake Factory bag, and he insisted I take home a slice of theirs on the house to compare them. Hers wins. Now we make sure that's part of our order every time we return.

Great for meal on the run. Always open. Polish, fries with generous soda. Length of polish sausage is shorter than other vendors.

Talk about a hidden gem! If I am in this area, this is the place to go for a good hot dog with fries at a steal of price! Really super nice people and did you know they sell some killer cheesecakes / cakes???? If you're lucky you may be able to grab a free sample ;-).

At first we just went to HDD because it was so conveniently located for us. It's right under the Wellington Brown Line, a few blocks from the 8 bus, and across from Advocate IL Masonic if you're prone to spending a lot of time in hospitals. After our first time there, we were sold. Neither my husband nor I are from Chicago, but we love Chicago dogs and for a really good price you can get a loaded dog and fresh hot fries. Italian sausage, Italian beef, all good. The cheesecakes are indeed insanely good. I, personally, have never had any problems with the help. Just because people don't exude sunshine, kittens, or blow rainbows up your hiney, doesn't make them "rude." But then again I'm from the east coast. :) Tasty. Convenient.

When we moved away from The Wiener's Circle, I though my late night hot dog binging was over. Man was I wrong... now I'm near a place that is actually amazing in the daytime too. This place has some of the best hot dogs (just normal hot dogs) I've ever had. And the fries (which are included) are also amazing. I still haven't made it to the burgers yet, but my friends who have also enjoyed them. The food here is just damn good. You can't ask for more from a Hot Dog Joint, and I can't be happier to be so close to one.

  • Charles C.

The Italian Beef was delicious (next time I will try it not dipped and not so hot, but that is no knock on how absolutely amazingly good it was!). The fries do not even get me started. They're from Heaven above and I could not stop eating them!!! Now the cheesecake which the owner's sister makes go there right now and try a plain slice and you will never be the same again! This place rocks and I cannot wait to return and try more off their menu. I also have to mention the chocolate cake (that the owner's sister also makes) is also to die for!!! This place gets it right because they obviously care!

I wanted a beef & sausage sandwich and was TOLD it was frozen and wouldn't be ready for 3 hours. That's why I posted. If it wasn't frozen, then your staff lies to it's customers. I don't know, and frankly I don't care! The owners reply that I must have been confused as to the place is completely untrue as well. Seriously Dude, I lived on Oakdale, used to cut thru the alley until the CTA blocked it up with the reconstructed stop. Your shop used to be a mini-mart before you moved in. You are inches from the L stop, right next to a cleaners and Pompeii. I know this is the correct place. I got off the train from work, so I know it was just after 5pm on a weekday too. I love combo's. I grew up right by Johnnies Beef in Elmwood Park, so I am sure I ordered a combo when I went in there. Yelp community, I was not confused; the owner doesn't want to accept bad reviews. Shame on me for trying to get a beef at a hot dog joint.

I was soooo hungry and excited to get home and eat my food from Hot Diggity Dogs that a friend purchased with some kind of Groupon deal. I ordered an Italian sausage and cheese fries. The sausage was completely INEDIBLE. Way over done and the driest piece of meat I've ever encountered in my life. Gross. Moving on to the cheese fries, they were extremely soggy fries (had nothing to do with the cheese, they were just inherently gross) but I was so hungry that I ended up eating a pile of mushy potatoes with melted cheese sauce on top. Only reason it got 2 stars instead of 1 is that my friend claimed his hot dog was very good. Who knows, but I dont think I can ever come back here!

I'm nervous that I'm going to make this a standard spot as I get off the Wellington spot. I stopped in to grab a quick bite and was happy with the chili cheese fries I got. Why the three stars? Well the staff didn't seem to really care that I was there and it's not the nicest looking place. However, I could see myself adding another star if I keep going back for more.

Fantastic!!! In a neighborhood that had a real need for a REAL Chicago Hot Dog Stand instead of 12 Noodle Shops!!! Family operated. Classic Vienna Dogs...Wonderful fries...Burgers...Beef.....a real CHICAGO menu...Next to "L". Games on the TV. Great people running the place. Hope it lasts for 30 years.

Hot Diggity Dogs is my savior when I need something quick and cheap to eat...Also when I feel like a hot dog. Being a creature of habit, I always order the basic $3 hot dog/fries combo with everything and am always satisfied. It is a good amount of food and the hot dog always tastes great and has a good snap. The people working are always really friendly - even at 2AM!

I went back for another late night food session and am glad I went back, because it was much better than last time. I ended up ordering the same thing (was going to go with the meatball sub, but the owner was nice enough to tell me it wasn't as good as the one his mom makes so I should get the Italian Beef instead). Everyone working there was friendly, despite the crowd they have to deal with late at night. Will have to go back to try the meatball sub someday.

Great, classic, no frills hot dog stand. The owner is usually out and around ensuring that you get what you pay for and a little bit more. Everything is made fresh to order so even the fries are nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside (without being overly greasy). My only complaint is that I wish my dog had been a little bit bigger to handle all of the Chicago Style dog toppings, but you can order the double diggity dog for those of you like me who enjoy a plumpier weiner experience.

Giggity, Giggity, Alright. Hot Diggity Dogs is a 4 star Chicago hot dog joint. It has everything you are looking for in your neighborhood spot. Family run with fast and friendly service, fair prices, good portions and tasty vittles. The elusive 5th star is only missing due to some minor philosophical differences regarding the toppings that make a hotdog "Chicago style". If you are a hotdog connoisseur, you know that Vienna sells different sizes/weights of franks. HDD uses the slim size Viennas, but for $3 with trimmings and a fist-full of fries, its a good value. $5 Italian Beefs are flavorful and generous in size making for an excellent meat delivery system. They also serve handcut fries if you are into that; and if not; why not? I recommend HDD if you are looking for a genuine Chicago neighborhood spot or if you don't want to wait in line for lunch @ Panes. If its late night on a weekend, HDD is a no-brainer. I see they are also open @ breakfast which makes sense since they are right next to the Wellington stop. Heads up, they are currently closed on Sundays.

I stumbled into this place late one night by myself. What a gem. Hot dog and cheese fries? Yes please. I don't remember how much I actually paid for this little piece of bliss, but it was definitely under 5 dollaz. Will certainly pay another visit to Hot Diggity Dogs.

Had the hot dog with EVERYTHING. Didn't disappoint! Fries are outstanding, too.

I am a HUGE short order fan. In my recent boycott of fast food chain establishments I have been seeking places like this out. I must say that this place takes the short-order joint to the next level. It raised the bar that much for me. It is going to e difficult to match this place no matter how far I search. This place is conveniently located next to the train station. The place was spotlessly clean. This is a rare quality to find in places like this. I ordered a beef sandwich and beef vegetable soup. The soup was way too smoking hot to eat, so I enjoyed my beef sandwich first. It was excellent. Tasted great and the beef nearly melted in your mouth. When i was done, I was almost sad that it was finished. By then the soup was a good temperature to eat and much to my surprise, the beef they used in the soup was the same beef they put on the sandwich! This pleased me tremendously They guys working were very friendly and helpful. The next time I am in the area, I will be sure to be back!.

"Can i please get an italian beef, hot, dipped?!" is the line that I had perfected ever since I moved to this neighborhood. This place served me well, especially on the weekends coming back from Matilda down the street starving! they open until 3 AM on the weekends!

I love you hot diggity dogs and if I lived closer i'd be in serious trouble! I love this place. The hot dog was fantastic and so were the fries! The boy got the italian beef which he loved and cheese fries (yum!) The guy who was working was super nice and we got our food super fast. It was perfect at 10pm on a saturday night :)

It wouldn't be a late night after a long day at Lolla without stopping at a hot dog spot before walking home. Since I've been gone a lot, I had yet to visit the new dog joint across the street from my apartment and next to the L. There's really not much to say, I ordered a $3 dog with everything (it comes with fries). I like the pricing and you certainly get a decent chunk of food, but it just wasn't that good. The dogs are all beef, but very small. My fries were only OK, some decent, others just drenched in grease. I ordered mine to to, and the place was packed, but that's no excuse for a below average product. Hopefully they can get their act together because a late night dog shop on the way home would be a welcome addition to the neighborhood. In the meantime I'll just make my own at home.

Alright, was a little drunk and pissed the last time I wrote a review for here but both I and hot digs have come to our senses and rekindled our drunk/hungover relationship. Really is a great place for a late night beef with lots of flavor and fries that will cure your hangovers for the next month.

Standard burgers and dogs from a greasy spoon. AWESOME prices and easy service. If you're expecting something high maintenance go across the street to DMK.

We have been to Hot Diggity many times, and have never been disappointed! Beef, polish, burgers, fries, kicking chicken, and hot dogs are always fresh, and hot!! The service is always great, and the restaurant is always clean. I cannot say enough good stuff about this place, everyone must try! You will not be disappointed!

Not bad, however it would be better if they didn't nickel and dime you for toppings.

Cheap and good food. Really don't need to say more but I will. My regular there is a double dog and it comes with fries for only 4 bucks. They never short on toppings or fries. I prefer burgers from other neighborhood places but they are still good. You'll be satisfied by anything on the menu!

I see this place every day on my way to school and I'm not sure what took me so long to go in. But the week I finally decided to, I loved it, well their cheese fries anyway. I've actually never gotten anything else. Oh wait, there was that one time, same week, when I inquired if they sold grilled cheese. It's not on the menu, but he made it for me! That pretty much sold me on customer service.

I frequently visit Advocate Illinois and I stopped here on my way to the brown line el train one evening. The place was clean and inviting with a good looking menu so i gave it a try. It was a burger one of my personal favorites. Hot diggity dogs burger stands up well. I recently went back and had a beef, which was good, the good part, the BEEF, :-) flavorful and plenty, with fries and a bottle water i finished half of the sandwich.

Well the price is right, the food however is average. This spot would serve well enough for an easy lunch - they have a simple menu and short waiting time. I had the chili dog which was alright, I have certainly had better. The dog itself was small, I expected more girth from a place that specializes in them. The decent portion fries were hit and miss; most were soaked in grease, which is unfortunate because the dry ones seemed to be quite good. It helped that the service was quick and friendly and the store was clean. I wanted this place to be great - it was nearby and inexpensive - but everything screamed mediocrity. As far as hot dog joints go, you can certainly do better.

French fries, cheesecake and beef brisket from scratch! Lana and Nacho are the best!

I'd give the food a 4-star but the customer service experience with the female worker gives this place a 0-star really. The worker accused a friend of stealing pop when all she was doing was getting ice (she had permission from another employee). The worker was extremely rude, abrasive, cocky, and down right disrespectful. When calming approached by our group to get her name she continued to be rude, defensive and inappropriately sassy. If it wasn't for the food I would never come back to this place again. No person deserves to be treated the way she did my friend.

Standard and yummy Vienna Beef. What more could you want! Get your dog to go and they'll wrap the fries with it in that quaint way that I find myself missing now that I'm gone. Start a hot dog buyer card and enjoy it Chicago, you bastards!

Good food, good prices and great service. Couple that with its location and you have one heck of a hot dog shop, which is exactly what you'll get here. I'll be back...often.

HDD serves a good hot dog and great fries. Nothing too special but definitely a spot I could return to if I was in the area.

I'm a cry baby, even bigger cry baby when it comes to dog's, beef and fries, the dog was spot on the way it was posta bee, beef was shaved thin with great flavor, next time I'll get it dipped it was a tad dry, the fries put this place over the top, even cold a couple hrs. later they were great, might even be the best fries I ever had, can't wait to actually go here, a friend was nice enough to bring me sammies twice, glad he did.

Good food, good service. It's a good place to run if you need food fast. Or if you just came from the ER across the street. Only complaint is the tv is always loud as heck, and at times the help is rude. Other than that a winner.

I really wasn't expecting much when I came here for the first time, but the food was awesome! It's a small place, not fancy, but the food is delicious! They've added an outdoor seating area as well (not sure if I'd sit here, since it's close to the train, but it's a nice touch). I've tried the hot dog, cheesy fries, and the Italian beef, and they were all good. I'd definitely recommend ordering the Italian beef though (delicious!).

Been in here a few times. The hot dogs are solid chicago style or chili cheese style. The fries are very good, and the Italian beef is great. Which was a delicious surprise. Now my goto spot in the area for italian beef.

Arriving a little late to this whole hot dog fad (seriously, before this summer, I hadn't eaten a hot dog in nearly 25 years), I'm not going to go as far as feeling like I've missed out on something incredible for a quarter of a century, but I have enjoyed this little hot dog renaissance as of late. For what it is, Hot Diggity Dogs is great: simple yet tasty dogs smothered in mustard, onions, and much more; crisp fries; and nice and cheap (under $8 for two of us).

It is so refreshing to be able to walk around the corner on wellington and have a classic hot dog spot right there. This place is great. Fresh ingredients. Fresh cut fries. they put the fries with the hot dog like it should be. I have had everything from the dogs to beefs to polish...and all perfect. Suggest everyone stops in.

Double dog with everything on it and fries! Great for a late night snack or good greasy food for a hangover cure. Also, fairly inexpensive. I think they are cash only which can be annoying...

I was a little nervous when this place was going to open, expecting a total greasetrap. Thankfully, I was way wrong. Good food. Nice folks. Reasonable prices. Fries are very tasty, as are the hot dogs and the Italian beef.
