I'm wondering if this place has changed ownership, as it has been my favorite local place for Chinese take-out and delivery for many years. Everything I had ever ordered from them had always been excellent. I hadn't been for a while, and tonight had a completely unexpected experience. I ordered pan fried noodles as usual for take-out, and when I got home discovered that they had apparently given me lo mein instead, and with a completely different type of noodle. Worse was that the dish was swimming in oil, and had absolutely NO flavor whatsoever. If there has in fact been a change in management which resulted in this, I will likely not return.

We've eaten here twice in the last month, mainly because it's convenient with the parking lot and all. But, the food is okay too. The staff (same on each occasion), are super friendly with us. Maybe it's cuz my kids (seriously) look like little anime-children come to life and they're fun and behaved. We ordered the lunch specials for dinner (extra $1-2 on top of the lunch price depending on what you order). In addition to your entrée, you get to pick 3 sides (ranging from a can of pop, broccoli, lo-mein, fried rice, chicken, etc.). You can ask for MSG-free food, except for the fried rice which automatically gets seasoned with the MSG. Food was served hot and tasted very good. Ample dine-in space (booth/table set up along one wall, tables on the other side). TVs in each corner. Fridges for the soda, but also a self-serve fountain machine. Smoothies or bubble tea made to order as well. Great selection of flavors.

Easily the worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life. Ordered two different things thinking that maybe the person was bad, but the cycle was just terrible I ended up just walking out to leave and entire plate on the table. How is this place in business.

They apparently are under new management because their customer service skills have improved tremendously. Only reason they dont get a 5 star is because i live 10 min or less away and it still takes over an hr for delivery. They have admitted that their delivery sucks. At least they can admit it but the food has gotten better for sure

On of the worst Chinese meals I've had in Chicago. Ordered the sweet n sour chicken. Totally tasteless. The rice was just rice tinted with soy. Couple sprouts. Scallions. Nothing's else. The chicken sauce with just one tomato slice ( tomato on sweet n sour?) and another slice if green bell pepper and 2 little chunks of pineapple that were added before serving. Not coming back. On this town you can but superb Chinese very close. Not here

Waited an hour to pay a tip for a driver that could not figure how to use the intercom so I can buzz him into the building. Had to go to the lobby and get it myself. That would not have been so bad had my jumbo shrimp contain more than THREE shrimp. So not worth it.

Gave them 1 chance after getting a flier in our mail. Baaaad decision. Shrimp Egg Foo Young - watery and flavorless, BBQ Pork Lo Mein - poorly seasoned and horribly bland. So close to Chinatown where regulars are a bit more savvy and they are serving this? As Papa John's says "Better ingredients better Pizza (even though his pizza sucks). Same principle applies to good Chinese food and this place taste like they cook with used ingredients. Bottom line, don't waste your time... Try Moon Palace

This is probably the worst Chinese food restaurant in the city of Chicago. My husband and I dropped by for a quick lunch. We both ordered the seafood fried rice lunch special. We were told that it has imitation crab and shrimp. I opted out of the imitation crab, but my husband decided that it would be ok. This place has the smallest shrimp in fried rice that I have ever seen. My husband's egg roll was over cooked. Still he didn't complain until he discovered that he had maybe a tablespoon full of the imitation crab. When he questioned the staff they told him, what do you expect for $6.79? Trust me avoid this place. The food taste horrible. Very expensive for the amount of food provided.

I ONLY LIVE A MILE OR SO AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AND I DONT KNOW HOW I MISSED IT! Great Chinese ! They offer "Combo meal" for 6.99 which includes a selected entree plus choice of 3...yes 3...sides! very satisfied with this place :) Take out/delivery

Watery, mushy and expensive. We ordered jumbo shrimp fried rice, shrimp lo mein and shrimp & broccoli. All overcooked and under seasoned. Egg rolls were freezer burned and tasteless. Guy at counter was rude. This place was good at one time. Avoid.

Stay away from this place totally. The owner has no respect for customers. He has a real bad attitude and acts like he is doing you a favor when you eat here. I guess he does not realize that if it were not for customers this idiot would not be in business. How this guy stays in business is beyond me. These people that run this place have no people sense, common sense and no manners what so ever. Find yourself another Chinese Restaurant. There are tons of them.

I love this place. You can tell that the food is made fresh and YOU really get some Great bang for your buck. If you're like me and can't get Chinese food without a couple crispy crunchy treats on the side (egg rolls, crab rangoon) then this is your place! For $6.99 you get an entree and 3 sides. It's a great deal. I went there tonight and got the Mongolian Chicken with 1) soup 2) egg roll and 3) fried rice. I also got an order of Crab Rangoon. My total was just under $12.00 This fed me and my boyfriend well!! The Mongolian Chicken was verrry tasty. It's not as spicy as I would like, but next time I go I will request they spice it up a bit for me. The Crab rangoon was probably the most disappointing because there is barely any filling in there, but it was crispy and fried to perfection. I recommend this place to anyone looking for some great Quick Chinese food!

Told cashier we didn't want msg in our chicken fried rice since I was allergic to it. Instead the dish was flavored with msg..... had to have several ladles of it cause I couldn't finish the order. It was that bad. I got sick and vomited afterwards. Stay away. Msg makes my heart palpitate and head hurt. It also is dangerous for your health.

The South Loop area has very little options for the Chinese food-wanting students that dwell within it, especially since those students, such as myself, don't have the luxury of owning a car. So for my lunch today, I decided to reach out and get delivery from Hong Kong Delight 3 (where are the other two?). I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken lunch special with a Sprite to drink and added on their $.99 Egg Roll. They didn't ask me how I was paying and hung up right away, so I had to call back and give them my credit card number; this was all assuming, of course, that they didn't have a guy running around with a credit card reader on-the-go. So that was a little inconvenient, but not too big a deal. When the delivery arrived my Sprite was not a Sprite at all... it was a Diet Pepsi. Whatever. I paid the man and sent him on his way. Despite those few hiccups, the food was actually decent.

Been here twice, tried several dishes both dine in and take out. Food is uniformly oily and bland, tastes like stale/burnt oil used in cooking. Chicken wings were the only dish I wanted to finish. Won't be back, which is too bad because price and location are both good.

No more! They are about 7 blocks away. Their food is okay at times, but delivery time is always a lie and food is cold when you get it. This isn't a "one time" bad-apple review. We have ordered 4 times for delivery fairly recently. That's it. We're done. A "half hour" is 1.5 hours. Today's "hour" was 2.5 hours. There are 2 people who seem to work there: one cook who also delivers, and a rude woman who answers the phone and says, "We're busy, what do you want me to do about it" or that their delivery time is only a "guess." This city is too big to deal with this crap. Go somewhere else, there are plenty of other places.

Best kept secret, tucked away in strip mall,. This take out resturant does have 6-8 tables, it's a take out restaurant. Food was fresh and delivery always hot.

I wish I had read the reviews before ordering from this place. I ordered the combo meal with sweet/sour shrimp, fried rice, lo-mein and egg roll. The sweet/sour shrimp was more like sweet/sour batter. The fried rice was just rice fried in some brown seasoning (maybe soy sauce?). It was just brown colored rice, no eggs, no onions, no peas, no carrots no nothing that you would expect in fried rice. It should be called "rice colored/flavored with brown seasoning". Same with the lo-mein; essentially just noodles in a brown gravy, no veggies in the sauce. Just flat flavor; BORING! The egg roll was fresh-out-of-the-freezer-into-the-fryer good. Save your $ and drive down the street to Chinatown.

I ate at Hong Kong Delight yesterday for the first time and was less then impressed. The food was very greasy. I mean greasy for even Chinese food. I ordered the beef broccoli, which was swimming in grease. The person I was dinning with ordered the orange chicken, which had a nice "real orange" taste. We both had ordered the combo meals, which include your choice of one entree and three sides. The side options where broccoli, soda, fried rice, egg roll or crab rangoon. I tried the very greasy egg roll. The one thing that was great about the place was the prices. The combo meals are only $6.99. I honestly don't see myself every eating here again, but if your hungover and broke then Hong Kong would be the place for you.

So this place easily has the best crab rangoon I've ever had. They are big and fried and actually filled with good stuff, unlike every other place i've been where they serve you half-assed crab rangoon! Oh yeah, the meal was good too. They only give you a certain amount of General tao's chicken or orange chicken, so you're up a creek that way...but its still tasty. In any event, the crab rangoon was amazing and is the reason I will rarely eat here, or i'll be 400lbs.

This review could easily have been 4 stars, except this place has, by far, the worst egg rolls I have ever tasted in my entire life. I mean, come on...you're a Chinese restaurant located in America. The number one go-to food you should make sure you do right is egg rolls! But these tasted like they were filled with broccoli paste, rather than with chopped cabbage. Almost amazing in their yuckiness. BUT, the one thing saving this review is their Singapore Style Noodles. Quite possibly the best I've had in Chicago, since moving here from LA. Super-fresh...hot...spicy...yummy!! So, I'm going to give them another try, keeping in mind to never, ever, EVER order the egg rolls again. Ever.

They were nice, and the smoothie was good, but when it came to the food, it was so bland and bad I couldn't even finish it. And I'm not a picky eater. The Orange Chicken was hard and rubbery, nominally orange-flavored, and didn't have enough breading. The Sweet and Sour Shrimp, however, had too much breading. The fried rice, like someone said before, is just brown-colored rice with nothing else going on. The same goes for the lo mein--chewy noodles in brown sauce, with a weird, plastic aftertaste. The egg roll was overfried, waaaaay too salty, and the filling was just weird brown-grey mush. The Combo seems like a good deal, but when you factor in where they've clearly cut corners you feel like you've been had. I wanted to throw the food at their window I was so mad. I want to give this place less than one star. I've read all the previous reviews and I can say that the descriptions of the food in the worst ratings rang true for me. I know what I'm getting into when I walk into a cheap dive Chinese place, and so do most people; this is so much worse than you know. THE WORST. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible customer service. Don't go there!!! The food is average so it's not worth even trying. If you really want Chinese food, go down 1 mile to China Town.

There's bad Chinese take out. And then there's BAD Chinese takeout! This is the latter unfortunatley. A hefty portion to be sure, considering the price on it. But I got 5 huge chunks of sweet and sour chicken that the breading was so soggy it just fell off. The fried rice had too much soy sauce already on it. Um, I can add my own with the bazillion packets you sent, thanks though. The egg roll had a foul odor to it that made you not want to bite into it. But I'm daring so I took the plunge. Yep. Still gross! And then the person who ordered our food noticed we were missing our smoothies. Called about it and was talked down to that we didn't look hard enough. She pleasantly said back 'are you sure there isn't any way you accidentally left it out of the bag?'. The answer was a simple 'nope'. Well....okay then, bye! It's sad b/c we've been trying to find a Chinese delivery in the South Loop that was affordable and was willing to drive onto Museum Campus to bring it to us. Yang's went all wrong after a couple of years and now this place has let us down. Back to the drawing board I suppose...

Wife and I got take out here last night. 6.99 dinner combos with a couple different options... The combos come with plain fried rice and my wife wanted pork, the difference on the menu is 50 cents... so i asked, and was charged $2.29 to add pork?? WTF ok, heres the verdict Egg Drop Soup : good flavor, small portion Crab Rangoon : ok Egg Roll : Disgusting, like mush, no texture Chicken Wings : good flavor, but they were so HUGE, its hard not to think about how many hormones those chickens were pumped with. Fried Rice : Excellent, about the only thing i would come back for Lo-Mein : Standard, ok Orange Chicken : abysmal....horrible, cant even describe it..

Decent if not bad food, horiible service except one lady, how do you charge a quarter for hot sauce? Really? Like the others said go down a mile to China town and save your money and you will get way better food, 15 mins and waiting!

My first truly bad Yelp review. I've eaten here before and wasn't impressed. This week I needed to pick up something really fast, so I stopped by. The man and woman behind the counter were so incredibly rude to me that I decided not to order. When I asked questions, they alternated between not answering, telling me to not change the menu (even though the items were on the menu!), and just walking away while I spoke to them. And this was not a language issue-- I speak Chinese, and they were rude to me in that, too. I finally flat out said that I refused to give them money because they were so rude. Instead, I went across the street to Whole Foods and got food off the hot food buffet and the sushi counter. It was delicious. I'd rather pay more for good food and not being treated like there is something wrong with me for asking questions! When people are so rude to people who are just trying to figure out what to order (and I'm a vegetarian and was just asking what options were vegetarian), then that restaurant shouldn't even stay in business. This place is only a few blocks from Chinatown. If you want good Chinese and to be treated well-- go or order in from there, instead.

We order food from here quite often from work. Pretty decent Chinese food. Their specials (lunch and dinner both the same price) are big, and they give you options such as noodles instead of rice, your choice of won ton or egg drop soup, or they will happily substitute the egg roll for a half order of crab Rangoon. The delivery is always on time, and if you order more than $20, they will waive the delivery charge. My personal favorite is their orange chicken with noodles. And they have some pretty decent pot stickers as well.

Food is alright. I come here about twice a month for lunch since I work real close. They do have large portions. Oh, and if you ask for water, make sure you ask for a cup for water otherwise the lady owner will yell at you and try charging you for a bottle.

This is the worst food I have ever experienced out of my 27 years of living. I ordered the orange chicken, the egg roll, lo mein, crab rangoon combo. The orange chicken batter was soggy and sickly sweet. The lo mein had no flavor. The egg roll was beyond salty...and I don't know how you mess up crab rangoon, but Hong Kong Delight can! ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!!!! To suggest others to eat there would be CRUEL!

It's mostly a take out place, the kitchen is probably half the restaurant. There's no wait staff (reason for the 4 stars instead of 5); you go up to the counter and order your food. Cheap, good american chinese food (5 stars for the food). Much better than Yang's (too greasy) in my opinion and they're the only 2 near me.

I order from here all the time. Very consistent and I like it. I don't know why the other reviews were so bad. Must be a bad night. One of my favorites for Chinese.

The food is nice. You can see them cook the food. I used to go there a lot. But, one time I had food catered from there. The portion of food in the trays were very skimpy. So, I stopped going there for a while. There is no reason to be stingy with Chinese food.

I work at Friendship...and I really can't compare our food to this...it's so close to China town, yet lacks the flavor china town has to offer....even flavor that Friendship has to offer. I ordered the lunch special, Mongolian beef with 1 crab rangoon, 1 egg drop soup and fried rice. First of all, my meat seemed chewy and a little gray in color. The sauce was decent but NOT fabulous. The crab rangoon was alright...too much cream cheese if you ask me and the egg drop soup had a hair floating around in it. The fried rice was bland and had a funny after taste. I found the service to be...less than mediocre, when our food was ready, the guy walked half way to our table and the girl said something to him in Chinese and he walked back to the counter, put our food down and called us up to get it...lol ummmm RUDE! Well, I guess that's all I really have to say about that place. I'm definitely not going back for the food, but my friend's coconut pineapple smoothie was tasty!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
